the block trying to take over the snack or beverage industry.
The other issues is the generic brands that are a much cheaper choice for the consumer as many are
watching their spending and going for cheaper and healthier choices.
The other threats are the water issues and the poor quality in many locations not just in the United
States, but internationally as well. Water is the major ingredient used at Pepsi for their beverage
products. This issues alone is causing the cost and the profit to affect the company.
The labor wage increase is rising and with the new mandated minimum wage hikes and the workers

Essay on Death with Dignity
Autonomy is a fundamental right. Liberty interests of patients while coping with terminal illness,
however, unlike autonomy, are protected under the Constitution as fundamental rights. Advancements
in medicine are extending the average life expectancy for adults. The aging of the baby boomer
generation is also contributing to the increase in the growing number of the elder population. As
society ages, not only do individuals battle terminal illness, but they combat the unanticipated
demands on their right to die with dignity. The ability to choose the timing of one s death is limited to
a few states in America. Additionally, there are a few countries now allowing physician assisted
suicide. Even with this option, a patient must ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although there is a distinction between euthanasia and death with dignity, the purpose of both is to
end one s unbearable pain and suffering.
The act of euthanasia has negative connotations that stem from a history of genocide. Nazi Germany is
an illustrious example of this deed. Using cyanide gas, the Germans exterminated a large portion of
the Jewish population. Contrary to popular opinion, genocide is not limited to the past. The atrocities
of this practice resurfaced a multitude of times, such as in the civil war, in Rwanda, as well as the
conflict in Darfur. Social conditions in all of these countries contributed towards conflict and crisis
situations resulting in the onset of social control. Genocide, often viewed as a deviant action, is also a
type of social control. The casualties of these wars were not permitted to die with their dignity. Their
deaths, indeed, did engender suffering. In these cases, the affected individuals experienced both active
and non voluntary euthanasia.
History provides valuable lessons. Learning about the suffering of others affords us the opportunity to
take action to prevent the possibility of reoccurrence. Karen Quinlan is an infamous case from the
1970 s. This woman was in a persistent vegetative state sustained by life support. Her family
petitioned the court to withdraw the ventilator machine, allowing her the right to die with dignity. The
judge granted the family s request

Ecosystem Sustainability and Climate Change
An Introduction to Ecosystem Sustainability and Climate Change: Anthropogenic activities have been
pouring greenhouse gases into the atmosphere which is evident from the increasing trends of changes
in global temperature, precipitation, climate induced hazards/disasters, pest distribution, etc. It is
alternating the habitable areas of species, their distribution, rate of survival and reproduction, food
web interactions, ecosystem services, and their conservation. Ecological managers need to invent
smart solutions to control and mitigate further erosion of ecosystems.
The increase in GHGs concentration in the atmosphere leads to change in climate and biological
characteristics of the ecosystems. The concentration of CO2 is expected to rise ... Show more content

The above practices are mainly aimed at enhancing ecological resilience of species, ecosystem
services, ecological connectivity, habitat creation, in situ conservation, re naturalization of policies,
enhancing partnership between multiple stakeholders, and community engagement. The tools which
can be used to promote ecological sustainability are biodiversity inclusive EIA, adaptive management,
and use of revamped protocols for monitoring of the floral and faunal species.
Case Study 1:
As a part of Bavarian Climate Program (2008 2011), the Bavarian Forest Administration developed
extensive maps of the forest areas and developed climate models of different species. The plan
envisaged conversion of 2, 69,000 ha of private and community stands of conifer forests into mixed
stands. The target is to convert 1, 00,000 ha by 2020 and another 1, 65,000 ha of state forests by 2033
by a public enterprise of Bavarian State Forest known as Bayerische Staatsforsten. It includes
replacement of Noway s Pine and Spruce stands into mixed stands of broad leaf such as beech and oak
to promote growth of climate tolerant species. The implemented forestry management techniques is

Why Is China Weak Or Strong
Are Women in China Weak or Strong?
For years, it has been debated on whether or not women in China were weak or strong. In China,
women were regarded as the lesser gender. Yet, does that necessarily mean that women in China are
weak? There are facts supporting both opinions, but I believe there are more signs pointing towards
how resilient and strong women actually are. Women in China were exceptionally strong despite being
persecuted for their gender; Although these women were required by tradition to serve their husbands
or bind their feet, they still lived and conquered on. The three main points I believe that show how
strong women from China are is that women are respected, even though their gender is, lesser, women
still live their life ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One example of this is a quote which states Apart from these offerings, human sacrifices, were
performed so Fu Hao would have servants in the afterlife. ; Fu Hao was also a military leader, a
shaman / priestess, and an influential politician who lived a life that Chinese women only dreamed
about. This quote serves to remind that Fu Hao received not only the same treatment as men in China,
but also was buried the same way that pharaohs in Egypt were buried. It also speaks wonders to the
fact that if her husband did not respect her, she would not be. An additional quote that speaks volumes
about this particular issue is, as mothers and mother in laws, a good deal of honor . Something that
men need/needed to keep in mind about women was that without a woman, they would not be alive.
No matter what society, place, or time period that someone was or is living in, women do have
motherhood working in their advantage, and motherhood is not something that will or ever can be
taken away from women. The third and last quote is, if a man died and his sons were not yet old
enough to be the head of the family, the women would fill the place till the sons were old enough ;
This quote was chosen because I feel as though if women were through not respected, then there
would have been a different way or some other person to lead . This shows respect because putting
your son or son s life in the hands of someone so lowly seems to be an enormous

Social Issues of the Seventies Essay
The 1970s can be best understood as a transitional period in America. Starting in the 1950s, the power
of the youth was on the rise, through civil rights activism and anti war protests. This decade s ideal
citizen seemed to be the person helping others. Then the 1980s are more financially centered and
individualistic. This decade s ideal citizen is the one who measured success by how much money they
made. The 1970s proved to be a time of bitterness, cynicism, and increased interest in one s self for
most of the people in America. Some of the events that contributed to this were the Kent State
Massacre, Roe v. Wade, and the economic stagflation that happened in the latter part of the decade.
President Richard Nixon announced on April ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The events at Kent State were a catalyst that helped strengthened the American Citizens hatred of the
Vietnam War and distrust in the Government that promised to end the war. The case of Roe vs. Wade
was an example of an individual s rights and privacy against long held doctrines based on religious
beliefs. In 1973, a woman by the name of Norma L. McCorvey, using an alias of Jane Roe, was single
and living in Texas. She got pregnant and wanted an abortion, but it was illegal. The case eventually
made its way to the United States Supreme Court. The Court recognized in a 7 to 2 decision that the
Constitutional right to privacy should include a person s choice to terminate their pregnancy. This case
became not known as one of a person s right to privacy, but rather the case that legalized abortion
(Roe v. Wade). This case, in some ways, is not only about abortion, but it also illustrates the effects of
the feminist movements throughout the country. After this landmark decision of the Supreme Court, a
woman could now choose if and when to have children. No longer was sex only socially acceptable
for married couples ready to procreate. Another event that made a woman s position in American
society more independent was the economic recession, sometimes referred to as a stagflation, which
occurred during the middle to late part of the 1970s. Stagflation is a term in economics that describes a

Essay about Humour within the Play Educating Rita
Humour within the Play Educating Rita
Educating Rita has survived as a popular play in production because
Willy Russell successfully combines humour with serious themes.
Educating Rita, a play written in 1979, and by 1983 the fourth most popular play in Britain, remains a
favourite of the British today.
Based partly on his own experiences, Willy Russell created a theatrical masterpiece, remarkably with
only two characters. So we ask ourselves the question: how did he accomplish this? I will explore just
how the play has survived in current British culture, with hundreds of plays being written every year,
yet still remaining a favourite of students, grandparents, and critics alike.
I will first explore the humour within the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are also simple play on words between Frank and Rita:
Frank: Do you know Yeats?
Rita: The wine Lodge?
Frank: No. The poet.
These small jokes all contribute to the overall authentic comedy within the play.
There is also situational humour within the play. An example of this is when Frank attempts to help
Rita learn to write good criticising literary essays, yet she has written an appreciative essay on
Rubyfruit Jungle, an erotic book that would never even be considered to be included on an English
course. Frank s attempt to make Rita understand is completely wasted upon her at this moment in
time, but is funny and keeps the audience interested to see if Rita will ever appreciate Good literature.
These comedic situations, juxtaposed with the more seriously natured ones, such as when Rita s
flatmate attempts suicide, work well.
I will now explore the serious themes, and how they contribute to the play. I believe the main and
most important theme of the play is social divide. Rita is from an underprivileged background, where
she feels trapped by the restraints it brings her. She wishes to Find herself, and she plans to do this
through English literature. Rita is unhappy, and will not feel fulfilled unless she does something with
her life. This is touching, and would be especially if

Cane Toads Analysis
In this set of materials, the reading passage states the attempts to stop the spreading of cane toads in
Australia and provides three reasons of support. While in the listening, the speaker opposes the
passage and says that the attempts are unsuccessful and could cause environmental damage. Also, she
refutes each of the author s reasons. First of all, the reading passage claims that building fences could
stop the spreading of can toads. This was done before with rabbits and prevent their spreading to a
new area. However, the speaker counters this point and illustrates that the young cane toads and the
eggs are found on the river and streams. These rivers could float at any time carrying the eggs and the
young cane toads to new area.

In 1995, two criminal psychologists decided it was necessary to undertake studies into this particular
area of eye witness testimonies. They felt the need to identify factors that must be taken into account
when judging the value of the account given by the witness. Cutler and Penrod, after completing, their
investigation into the subject they decided that there were seven main factors that must be considered.
A contrary finding is reported by Cutler, Dexter and Penrod (1990) who found
that judges instructions failed to increase the scepticism . . . concerning eye
witness evidence
(Feldman, 1993: p120)
The first of these factors relates to the actual eye witness themselves. It takes into account various
individual and personal characteristics of the actual witness. The first section measures stable
characteristics of the witness. These characteristics are items that are personal to the individual at the
time of the incident. Police can judge similar testimonies to similar types of people because many
people may fall into the same brackets when evaluating using stable characteristics. Things that would
be considered in this area would be the age of the witness, their gender and other things like
personality etc. The second factor that Cutler and Penrod

smashes the camera. I took digital photographs of the male but the images are distorted and not clear.

Dentistry Personal Statement
Over the past ten years, pursuing a career in dentistry has been a truly rewarding experience. I first
started studying dentistry in Egypt. My education and experience there prepared me to enter the dental
field. Later on, my internship training in Qatar cultivated my interest in how technology plays a role in
health care. I recognized that while technological advances have progressed our service for patients, it
has also necessitated further knowledge and skills for practitioners. As I moved to Canada, I learned
that I would have to complete additional training in order to be able to practice dentistry here. Being
committed to this career path, I took up this challenge with a great deal of dedication and hard work. I
chose to view this requirement as an opportunity to train with world class researchers and
practitioners.
As a student at the University of Toronto, I was encouraged towards innovation, research and to keep

Germany, Russia, And Austria Hungary
From my perspective the game started off with France and Italy immediately isolating them, and only
talking to one another, with the exception of Britain later on. Germany, Russia, Turkey, and Austria
Hungary all started off talking to one another, but after a few turns passed each country branched off
into an immediate pair. Those being: Germany and Russia, Turkey and Austria Hungary. Turkey came
out strong taking advantage of the unclaimed space between Austria Hungary and them; they
remained strong throughout the game, quickly taking over territory. Germany and Russia set their
sights towards France and worked together to claim territory, however, Russia did not leave the
manpower behind to protect its lower end, and Turkey began to creep its way in. Britain appeared to
become focused solely on overseeing the demise of Russia and lead a one front assault against the
country. France and Italy attempted to work together towards a common goal, though; they both
appeared to be heading in separate directions unable to support one another, their alliance proving
little. Italy and Austria Hungary with alliances spread too far to aid battled one another in losing fight
for territory as neither held the man power to successfully claim victory and often ended up in a
standoff with neither moving or simply trading territory. However, the unresolved disputes between
the two allowed for Turkey to continue advancing north into Austria Hungary s territory and distract

There is really a need to look into the welfare of pupils so that they could achieve to the fullest. It is a

Cause And Effects Of The Flopped Crusades
The Flopped Crusade The Crusaders were created by Pope Innocent III in 1889. The Crusaders fought
against Christian blood, just to have more money. The Crusaders were not even in it for religious
purposes. The Crusaders failed to support enough troops, and made a decision to either stick with the
Christians, their own religion, or to ditch their religion and all of its beliefs. In the end, Alexius III, the
person who was going to give the Crusaders the money, did not have any and the Crusaders ended up
not getting any money, but sacking Constantinople. The fourth Crusade was one of the most
unsuccessful events in history. The Crusaders made lots of wrong choices. According to catholic.com,
They did not have the money to pay the Venetians and Dandolo s offer proved problematic, as Zara
was controlled by King Emeric of Hungary, who had previously taken the Cross; therefore, his lands
were protected by the Church, and attacking a Crusader s land resulted in excommunication
(Weidenkopf). The Crusaders chose to be excommunicated over being Christian with a debt they had
to pay off and were acting like peasants. They would take any deal they saw and thought that the
dealers would not scam or rip them off. They were little pawns for the dealer to mess with. They were
not even given the money in the end. The Crusaders were just manipulated the Crusaders to do the
dirty work for Dandolo. Another wrong choice they made was disobeying the letters from the pope.

Under The Roofs Of Paris
Poetic Realism was a film movement in France during the 1930 s that combined qualities of both
Impressionism and Surrealism to create a unique way to tell stories through narratives, long,
continuous shots, and sets that took a slice of reality and made it their own. The various techniques
used to create shots more real than life itself were groundbreaking for this time period. In the past, sets
of films were unrealistic and exaggerated; they were telling stories outside of reality, so their sets were
not attempting to immerse their viewer in the film s location. The 1920 film The Cabinet of Dr.
Caligari used very simplistic sets to tell its story, but the filmmakers did not expect or want the
audience to take them as reality. They were entirely aware that the walls ... Show more content on

apart from the rest is the immersive, almost panoramic experience the viewer becomes a part of when
they watch such films. Sous les Toits de Paris (Under the Roofs of Paris), created in 1930, was praised
by French film critic Marcel Carné for creating an interpretation of life in Paris that was more real
than life itself. Clair, the filmmaker of Sous les Toits de Paris, created such a realistic portrayal using
many techniques that were contrasting to those used in the history of film (Andrew). He used long,
continuous shots to immerse the reader in the scene and make them feel as if they are a character in
the scene, going about their daily life in Paris. This was quite different from the previous montage
technique that used quick cuts to provide excitement and entertain the viewer. Clair also recorded
many scenes of the film without sound and then later layered the sound

Class Location
One interesting thing that I have learned so far in the class is understanding that location is an
important factor when it comes to quality of life. When looking at both of the books we have read in
class, location has been a reason why most people have a rough life. When a town is in poverty it
directly relates to the crime rate and drug use. People must find way to support their families and
selling drug is on of the ways which of course, relates to jail time as seen in Keepin On. Another
problem seen when living in poverty due to location is the school systems and quality of teachers is
affect. Teacher in public school are not up to par due to the lack of funding the town provide to have
quality teachers. Finally, when a town is in poverty, the job outlook decreases. Many find that the

Talk To Her
Question 1
Talk to Her is a Spanish film written in 2002 and directed by Pedro Almodovar. The plot revolves
around two men with an unlikely friendship and in deep care for two other women suffering from
comas. The themes adopted by the writer are mainly persistence of love, the difficulty of
communication as well as loneliness and intimacy. Like any other drama, the film reveals a unique
style and concepts of artistry. In particular, the film highlights the ideas of postmodern narratives
commonly adopted by many contemporary playwrights. While postmodernism in art is used as a
departure from the typical modernism to explicit distrust of theories and ideologies, this film exhibits
a wider sphere. Apart from the themes used in the play, the humor and unrelenting ... Show more

In truth, his character is a complete perversion of the virtue that he exemplifies throughout the film.
Apart from being too good, Benigno violates Alicia s integrity when he rapes the lady in his quest to

psychologically troubled individual throughout the movie. In fact, for the majority of the film, he is
undeniably the most sympathetic figure since he appears saintly against the backdrop of all his
failures. Perhaps, the playwright does not intend to have the audience capture an immediate
impression of the character but use him as the center of comic. Despite the violence and immoral
attitude, Benigno s integrity, as well as authenticity, remains mostly questionable.

Since the beginning of the industrial revolution, people have been trying to make their life easier using
machines. This has led to huge technological breakthroughs that brought about computers, cars,

people s passion since ancient times is to store and preserve information for the generations to come
(libraries, archives). During the 1960 s people s desire to store and retrieve information was combined
with the opportunities that computers offered to create the first computerized database. This turned out
to be a milestone in the way people manage information. It offered many advantages: Data can be
organised easy; it takes up very little physical space; users can search the data for specific information;
The Database can be shared between different users; it can be accessed remotely etc. Due to these
advantages, the new modern way of collecting data gradually replaced paper Databases. It became a
much more cost effective way for organisations and companies to store their data. Currently, computer
databases are being used everywhere: Facebook, online stores such as Amazon and eBay, airports,
hospitals, government institutions etc. Even the libraries that are considered to be old fashioned have
stored their information electronically.
However, databases have to meet some challenges. Nowadays, the purpose of databases is to serve the

Ambiguity In Early Adulthood
Ambiguity means that an individual has both male and female genitalia. Boys can appear to be male
while having female genes and hormones. Girls can seem like a girl while harboring male genes and
hormones. This can make it very hard for someone to identify with one sex or the other. There are
roughly twenty four disorders that can lead to this kind of confusion. They are called Disorders of
Sexual Development or DSD s. Many of these disorders are rare; however, some of them are relatively
common. They can be as common as having twins or red hair. Some DSD s can be harmful to your
health. Testosterone is the determining factor in whether a fetus forms as a male or female. Genital
development takes place in the womb. Surprisingly, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some of them use an alternative like the bathroom in the nurse s office. Sex assignment surgeries can
actually damage the sensitive genital tissues. Thankfully, treatment has greatly improved throughout
the previous decade. Family involvement in the medical care of the child is now valued. An infant or
fetus will heal much faster than a child or adolescent. This fact supports the method of giving infants
and fetuses sex assignment surgeries. Parents usually make the decision to give their infant or fetus
sex assignment surgery to avoid bullies and harassment. Because they are influenced by their mother s
hormones, infants can have swollen genitals upon birth. They will eventually shrink back down. Not
all DSD s are apparent at birth because they sometimes just affect the internal organs. It can
sometimes be hard for people that were born with ambiguous genitalia to find love. They have to find
someone that is more worried about their soul than their genitalia. In some countries, they can t marry
their love because they are considered to be of the same sex. Despite what sex they identify
themselves as; they are just out of luck. Some DSD s are hereditary. Hormone therapy can bring about

The Kyoto Protocol Extension Is Worthwhile
Introduction
In the face of climate change, reducing greenhouse gas emissions is not only a nation s essential task
but also a global duty. Because of poorly regulated emissions, some greenhouse gases will remain in
the Earth s atmosphere for thousands of years. The mitigation of global environmental emergencies
requires uniform international standards and established rules. Therefore, international policy
coordination by multilateral agreement is indispensable. This policy paper aims to discuss
participation in the Kyoto Protocol Extension is worthwhile and what benefits and burdens await the
nation taking part in the efforts towards emissions reduction. Analysis
To begin with, several facts must be considered: (1) policy and economic implications, (2) cost benefit
analysis, and (3) global ethics.
Policy and Economic Implications. The environment is a type of public good, and the market usually
does not adequately protect the common resources which forces global community to bear the cost of
environmental degradation and other negative consequences thus causing dead weight loss and market
failure. This is known as the classic free rider problem and the paradox known as the tragedy of the
commons (Mankiw, 2012, p. 224). Negative externalities associated with the global climate change
are examples of a type of market failure (Gruber, 2013, p.123). It stresses the need for international
intervention and regulation such as environmental policies, environmental taxes,

Francis Of Assisi Summary
Francis of Assisi once stated for it is in giving that we receive. Service has played an instrumental role
in my life since a very young age. I have logged over 500 hours of volunteer work while serving in the
military. However, for this assignment, seven hours have never meant so much to me. I have a
certification as a Direct Service Advocate through the Iowa Coalition Against Domestic Violence
(ICADV); therefore, seeking meaningful service with Crisis Intervention Services was simple. Every
article we have read throughout this class proves that service is important, but helping someone who
has reached the most fearful part of their life is a life changing experience for everyone involved. The
mission of Crisis Intervention Services ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tangible learning can be an excellent method of learning. Students who are able to take information
from the classroom and apply in it the field can understand the how and why things are done the way
they are. Moreover, Sax and Astin stated that service learning requires students to go out into their
field and then return to relate their experiences via writings, discussions, or class presentations (Sax
Astin, 1997). I related to Sax and Astin with their characteristics of service participants. The authors
claimed that a student who has longevity in volunteering, leadership and strong family commitment to
their community are strong candidates to volunteering. My biggest inspiration for service comes from
my father who spent 25 years as a volunteer fireman in our community. My childhood idolization of
my father corroborated the authors claim that service participates are not to be motivated by
materialistic values (Sax Astin, 1997). Ultimately, Sax and Astin stated during college, service
participants exhibit greater increases in social self confidence and leadership ability than do
nonparticipants (Sax Astin, 1997). In relation to Sax and Astin I feel I have enhanced my interpersonal
skills, confidence in dealing with people, and working in a profession that is not common for

Sociocultural Theory in Early Childhood Development Essay
Sociocultural is defined as relating to, or involving a combination of social (relating to human society)
and cultural (taste in art and manners that are favored by a social group) factors. (Socialcultural ,
2010) You might ask why we are defining these words. It gives a better understanding of Vygotsky
beliefs that children seek out adults for interaction, beginning at birth, and that development occurs
through these interactions. (Morrison, 2009 sec 14.6) I agree that his theory is the best process for
learning. Many people feel that social interaction and learning begin at birth, but there have been
research conducted that fetus can learn through parental interaction. According to Fetal memory

Lev Vygotsky concept is showing or helping children with a task. They are taught everything through
social interaction no matter what it is. They are taught by example, by getting help with the task and
are expected to be able to complete it by themselves. With this concept of learning every child is able
to learn and evolve into completing activities independently and progressively from what they have
learned. It is important that the environment for the child be set with ideas and task that will allow
them too mentally, educationally and physically develop with or without adult and peer assistant.
Children are taught to mimic things like sounds and action; by mimicking this will help teachers
understand how a child learns and what they know. It is important to know what each child understand
and what they can progress on from previous teachings; by having them explain what they are doing.
Intersubjectivity is another concept of Lev Vegotsky individuals come to a task, problem, or
conversation with their, own subjective ways of making sense of it . (Morrison, 2009 sec 14) This is
for the child to verbally discuss their issue, to show that they understand what they are doing, and that
they can talk themselves through a problem. In Early Childhood Development Today stated that Lev
Vygotsky theory did not focus on children with behavioral issues, learning disabilities and children

Persuasive Essay On A Spider Web
As I left the classroom, I could feel the heat burning on my skin. When I saw the lake, I went towards
the lake for the breeze. The lake itself however smelled like eggs rotting but the cool breeze was worth
smelling the eggs rotting away. The sun was burning and as I sat on the hard rock, I could feel the heat
rising.
The trees were tall and were brown but there was one tree that stood out to me that appeared brown
with a hue of red whose light radiated as the sun hit the tree. The leaves were auburn and forest green
just like all the other trees, but the red tree stood out among all the others. Being unique can be
difficult since we are constantly told to stand out and find our own way, but our own way is then
judged by others. Society claims that no one here is to judge but we all know the statement is
inaccurate. Judgement is in the human nature and we cannot do anything to change it. Rather, we just
need to accept people for who they are and be willing to be open to their own opinions and ideas.
Rock near me had a spider web with leaves entrapped but no spider was present but he left his work
behind. The spider may or may not be alive but he will be remembered for the spider web. Anyone
who would notice the spider web will realize that a spider made it and will either sit away from the
web knowing there is a spider nearby or take time and embrace the beauty of life and realize how
unique and intricate each spider web is. There will be men and women in our lives who

Personal Statement For Food Science
From a young age, I have always wanted to know how and why the things around me work. Science
was one of my more well liked subjects throughout my schooling years. I am able to excel in these
subjects because I have developed a strong interest in them and I enjoy the process of learning new
things. I have always wanted to go to university to study a science based subject. While browsing
through the variety of courses available in your university, I came across Food Science and it caught
my attention. That was when I knew it would be the right course for me.
I have always enjoyed baking and cooking, as a result, I often bake with my family members. This
means that I do have some prior knowledge of importance of nutritional values, convenience, safety
and shelf life of foods. Food Science has actually been integrated into our everyday lives, and that is
what makes it so appealing to me. The food industry is one of the largest industries in the world and I
am eager to be part of this important industry, researching on how to produce food that is of better
quality. Research that has previously been done by Food scientists have largely contributed to the
higher quality of life experienced in many countries today, as compared to that of previous decades.
To work with food is a heavy responsibility as people place their trust in those who produce the food
they consume. I believe that it would be of great satisfaction for me to see a food ... Show more

Racial Controversy Surrounding the Assassination of...
The Racial Controversy Surrounding the Assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr. The impact of
Martin Luther King, Jr. today is no doubt revered. He is commonly called the Father of Civil Rights,
and is looked upon as a national icon, in an almost presidential type light. His achievements have not
only begat a national holiday for his birthday, but also helped lead to the creation of Black History
Month. However, his accomplishments were not so regaled in his own time. In fact, most Caucasian
Americans refused to even recognize any ban or barrier he and his cohorts attempted to change.
African Americans were just simply not respected by most whites in the 1950s and 1960s because
they were considered inferior. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The MIA s boycott lasted over a year, but finally, in early 1957, Montgomery s buses were
desegregated. This was, on many levels, the first large scale stand taken to end segregation in the
South. ( Martin Luther King, Jr. 1) King went on to form the Southern Christian Leadership
Conference in 1960, which gave him a base of operation and a national platform to speak. King began
to travel across the country, preaching his case for civil rights and the desegregation of schools and
public places. During his pursuit of desegregation, King and hundreds of his followers were jailed in
Birmingham, Alabama. There, from his jail cell, he penned the infamous Letter from the Birmingham
Jail, in which he says that he ll gladly negotiate the terms of desegregation, under the condition that he
stops his sit ins and marches. This was a large step towards racial desegregation. ( Martin Luther King,
Jr. 2) Soon after being released from the Birmingham Jail, King joined other civil rights leaders in
organizing the infamous March on Washington. More than 200,000 participated in the march on
August 28, 1963. After the march, the assembly gathered in the shadow of the Lincoln Memorial, and
King gave his famous, I have a dream speech, which called for someday, the equality of all mankind.
This historical day rose the tide of civil rights agitation to an all time high, and the next year resulted
in the passage of the Civil Rights Act of

Spain Research Paper
The Spanish built an elaborate empire in the Americas, covering the whole western coast of South
America, all of Central America, the Caribbean, Mexico, and parts of the United States, including
New Mexico and Florida. It took years of effort in order to set up to colonize this big region and set up
a structured system. The 3 main motives of Spain was God, Gold, and Glory . With these motives,
Spain was able to conquer an extensive territory. However, the Spanish arrival in the New World
resulted into both negative and positive impacts. Spain did not want to only watch the huge success of
Portugal and not do anything. The Spanish began to focus their attention on exploration and find a
new route to Asia, and sought to rival Portugal. Spain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It s system under which officers of the Spanish conquistadores gained ownership of Indian land
(America, 131).The Natives were required to work on their land and in return they would be taught
about Christianity and become civilized, yet this was not the true reason for commending the Natives.
The Spanish incorporated their law systems to the Native American society, as Natives started to
establishing advance political system and began making alliances with one another, as seen with the
Iroquois. Having slavery gave the Spanish an impression of absolutism and superiority, which may
have lead to the development of national monarchies. Due to the conformation of new experiences in
the new world, Spanish philosophers established some the first modern ideas on economics, war,
sovereignty, and natural law. The greatest effect of Spanish colonization is culture diffusion, which is
the mixing of cultures. Intermarriage between the Spanish and the Indians prompted another race,
mestizos. With them, the Spanish brought their religion and placed missionaries all over their
territories. A unique belief of God and nature was formed when the missionaries introduced
Christianity to the

  • 3. Essay on Death with Dignity Autonomy is a fundamental right. Liberty interests of patients while coping with terminal illness, however, unlike autonomy, are protected under the Constitution as fundamental rights. Advancements in medicine are extending the average life expectancy for adults. The aging of the baby boomer generation is also contributing to the increase in the growing number of the elder population. As society ages, not only do individuals battle terminal illness, but they combat the unanticipated demands on their right to die with dignity. The ability to choose the timing of one s death is limited to a few states in America. Additionally, there are a few countries now allowing physician assisted suicide. Even with this option, a patient must ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although there is a distinction between euthanasia and death with dignity, the purpose of both is to end one s unbearable pain and suffering. The act of euthanasia has negative connotations that stem from a history of genocide. Nazi Germany is an illustrious example of this deed. Using cyanide gas, the Germans exterminated a large portion of the Jewish population. Contrary to popular opinion, genocide is not limited to the past. The atrocities of this practice resurfaced a multitude of times, such as in the civil war, in Rwanda, as well as the conflict in Darfur. Social conditions in all of these countries contributed towards conflict and crisis situations resulting in the onset of social control. Genocide, often viewed as a deviant action, is also a type of social control. The casualties of these wars were not permitted to die with their dignity. Their deaths, indeed, did engender suffering. In these cases, the affected individuals experienced both active and non voluntary euthanasia. History provides valuable lessons. Learning about the suffering of others affords us the opportunity to take action to prevent the possibility of reoccurrence. Karen Quinlan is an infamous case from the 1970 s. This woman was in a persistent vegetative state sustained by life support. Her family petitioned the court to withdraw the ventilator machine, allowing her the right to die with dignity. Ecosystem Sustainability and Climate Change An Introduction to Ecosystem Sustainability and Climate Change: Anthropogenic activities have been pouring greenhouse gases into the atmosphere which is evident from the increasing trends of changes in global temperature, precipitation, climate induced hazards/disasters, pest distribution, etc. It is alternating the habitable areas of species, their distribution, rate of survival and reproduction, food web interactions, ecosystem services, and their conservation. • 5. Why Is China Weak Or Strong Are Women in China Weak or Strong? For years, it has been debated on whether or not women in China were weak or strong. In China, women were regarded as the lesser gender. Yet, does that necessarily mean that women in China are weak? There are facts supporting both opinions, but I believe there are more signs pointing towards how resilient and strong women actually are. Women in China were exceptionally strong despite being persecuted for their gender; Although these women were required by tradition to serve their husbands or bind their feet, they still lived and conquered on. The three main points I believe that show how strong women from China are is that women are respected, even though their gender is, lesser, women still live their life ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One example of this is a quote which states Apart from these offerings, human sacrifices, were performed so Fu Hao would have servants in the afterlife. ; Fu Hao was also a military leader, a shaman / priestess, and an influential politician who lived a life that Chinese women only dreamed about. This quote serves to remind that Fu Hao received not only the same treatment as men in China, but also was buried the same way that pharaohs in Egypt were buried. It also speaks wonders to the fact that if her husband did not respect her, she would not be. An additional quote that speaks volumes about this particular issue is, as mothers and mother in laws, a good deal of honor . Something that men need/needed to keep in mind about women was that without a woman, they would not be alive. No matter what society, place, or time period that someone was or is living in, women do have motherhood working in their advantage, and motherhood is not something that will or ever can be taken away from women. The third and last quote is, if a man died and his sons were not yet old enough to be the head of the family, the women would fill the place till the sons were old enough ; This quote was chosen because I feel as though if women were through not respected, then there would have been a different way or some other person to lead . • 6. Social Issues of the Seventies Essay The 1970s can be best understood as a transitional period in America. Starting in the 1950s, the power of the youth was on the rise, through civil rights activism and anti war protests. This decade s ideal citizen seemed to be the person helping others. Then the 1980s are more financially centered and individualistic. This decade s ideal citizen is the one who measured success by how much money they made. The 1970s proved to be a time of bitterness, cynicism, and increased interest in one s self for most of the people in America. Some of the events that contributed to this were the Kent State Massacre, Roe v. Wade, and the economic stagflation that happened in the latter part of the decade. The events at Kent State were a catalyst that helped strengthened the American Citizens hatred of the Vietnam War and distrust in the Government that promised to end the war. The case of Roe vs. Wade was an example of an individual s rights and privacy against long held doctrines based on religious beliefs. In 1973, a woman by the name of Norma L. McCorvey, using an alias of Jane Roe, was single and living in Texas. She got pregnant and wanted an abortion, but it was illegal. The case eventually made its way to the United States Supreme Court. The Court recognized in a 7 to 2 decision that the Constitutional right to privacy should include a person s choice to terminate their pregnancy. This case became not known as one of a person s right to privacy, but rather the case that legalized abortion (Roe v. Wade). This case, in some ways, is not only about abortion, but it also illustrates the effects of the feminist movements throughout the country. After this landmark decision of the Supreme Court, a woman could now choose if and when to have children. No longer was sex only socially acceptable for married couples ready to procreate. Another event that made a woman s position in American society more independent was the economic recession, sometimes referred to as a stagflation, which occurred during the middle to late part of the 1970s. Educating Rita, a play written in 1979, and by 1983 the fourth most popular play in Britain, remains a favourite of the British today. Based partly on his own experiences, Willy Russell created a theatrical masterpiece, remarkably with only two characters. So we ask ourselves the question: how did he accomplish this? Rita is from an underprivileged background, where she feels trapped by the restraints it brings her. She wishes to Find herself, and she plans to do this through English literature. Under The Roofs Of Paris Poetic Realism was a film movement in France during the 1930 s that combined qualities of both Impressionism and Surrealism to create a unique way to tell stories through narratives, long, continuous shots, and sets that took a slice of reality and made it their own. The various techniques used to create shots more real than life itself were groundbreaking for this time period. In the past, sets of films were unrealistic and exaggerated; they were telling stories outside of reality, so their sets were not attempting to immerse their viewer in the film s location. • 21. How Did The Tension That Lead To The Cuban Missile Crisis The tensions that developed between Cuba and the USA almost led to a nuclear disaster during the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962. Tensions between these two countries brought about the perfect conditions for a nuclear confrontation between the USA and Soviet Union; occurring as a result of poor US Cuban attitudes. This escalated tensions to the point where Cuba became the middle man in a nuclear stand off between the superpowers during the Cuban Missile crisis in 1962. The attitudes of Cuba and the United States (towards one another) set the stage for a constant distasteful battle between the two countries that fuelled the fire of the Cuban Missile Crisis. • 22. ER Diagrams and Databases Since the beginning of the industrial revolution, people have been trying to make their life easier using machines. This has led to huge technological breakthroughs that brought about computers, cars, airplanes etc. Nowadays computers are widely used to perform various tasks on users behalf. Another people s passion since ancient times is to store and preserve information for the generations to come (libraries, archives). During the 1960 s people s desire to store and retrieve information was combined with the opportunities that computers offered to create the first computerized database. This turned out to be a milestone in the way people manage information. It offered many advantages: Data can be organised easy; it takes up very little physical space; users can search the data for specific information; The Database can be shared between different users; it can be accessed remotely etc. Due to these advantages, the new modern way of collecting data gradually replaced paper Databases. It became a much more cost effective way for organisations and companies to store their data. Currently, computer databases are being used everywhere: Facebook, online stores such as Amazon and eBay, airports, hospitals, government institutions etc. Even the libraries that are considered to be old fashioned have stored their information electronically. However, databases have to meet some challenges. Nowadays, the purpose of databases is to serve the demands of large scale companies. These ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 23. Ambiguity In Early Adulthood Ambiguity means that an individual has both male and female genitalia. Boys can appear to be male while having female genes and hormones. Girls can seem like a girl while harboring male genes and hormones. This can make it very hard for someone to identify with one sex or the other. There are roughly twenty four disorders that can lead to this kind of confusion. They are called Disorders of Sexual Development or DSD s. Many of these disorders are rare; however, some of them are relatively common. They can be as common as having twins or red hair. Some DSD s can be harmful to your health. Thankfully, treatment has greatly improved throughout the previous decade. Family involvement in the medical care of the child is now valued. An infant or fetus will heal much faster than a child or adolescent. This fact supports the method of giving infants and fetuses sex assignment surgeries. Parents usually make the decision to give their infant or fetus sex assignment surgery to avoid bullies and harassment. Because they are influenced by their mother s hormones, infants can have swollen genitals upon birth. They will eventually shrink back down. Not all DSD s are apparent at birth because they sometimes just affect the internal organs. It can sometimes be hard for people that were born with ambiguous genitalia to find love. They have to find someone that is more worried about their soul than their genitalia. In some countries, they can t marry their love because they are considered to be of the same sex. • 24. The Kyoto Protocol Extension Is Worthwhile Introduction In the face of climate change, reducing greenhouse gas emissions is not only a nation s essential task but also a global duty. Because of poorly regulated emissions, some greenhouse gases will remain in the Earth s atmosphere for thousands of years. The mitigation of global environmental emergencies requires uniform international standards and established rules. Therefore, international policy coordination by multilateral agreement is indispensable. This policy paper aims to discuss participation in the Kyoto Protocol Extension is worthwhile and what benefits and burdens await the nation taking part in the efforts towards emissions reduction. Analysis To begin with, several facts must be considered: (1) policy and economic implications, (2) cost benefit analysis, and (3) global ethics. Policy and Economic Implications. The environment is a type of public good, and the market usually does not adequately protect the common resources which forces global community to bear the cost of environmental degradation and other negative consequences thus causing dead weight loss and market failure. This is known as the classic free rider problem and the paradox known as the tragedy of the commons (Mankiw, 2012, p. 224). Negative externalities associated with the global climate change are examples of a type of market failure (Gruber, 2013, p.123). • 26. Sociocultural Theory in Early Childhood Development Essay Sociocultural is defined as relating to, or involving a combination of social (relating to human society) and cultural (taste in art and manners that are favored by a social group) factors. (Socialcultural , 2010) You might ask why we are defining these words. It gives a better understanding of Vygotsky beliefs that children seek out adults for interaction, beginning at birth, and that development occurs through these interactions. (Morrison, 2009 sec 14.6) I agree that his theory is the best process for learning. They are taught everything through social interaction no matter what it is. They are taught by example, by getting help with the task and are expected to be able to complete it by themselves. With this concept of learning every child is able to learn and evolve into completing activities independently and progressively from what they have learned. It is important that the environment for the child be set with ideas and task that will allow them too mentally, educationally and physically develop with or without adult and peer assistant. Children are taught to mimic things like sounds and action; by mimicking this will help teachers understand how a child learns and what they know. It is important to know what each child understand and what they can progress on from previous teachings; by having them explain what they are doing. Intersubjectivity is another concept of Lev Vegotsky individuals come to a task, problem, or conversation with their, own subjective ways of making sense of it . • 28. Persuasive Essay On A Spider Web As I left the classroom, I could feel the heat burning on my skin. When I saw the lake, I went towards the lake for the breeze. The lake itself however smelled like eggs rotting but the cool breeze was worth smelling the eggs rotting away. The sun was burning and as I sat on the hard rock, I could feel the heat rising. The trees were tall and were brown but there was one tree that stood out to me that appeared brown with a hue of red whose light radiated as the sun hit the tree. The leaves were auburn and forest green just like all the other trees, but the red tree stood out among all the others. Being unique can be difficult since we are constantly told to stand out and find our own way, but our own way is then judged by others. Society claims that no one here is to judge but we all know the statement is inaccurate. Judgement is in the human nature and we cannot do anything to change it. Rather, we just need to accept people for who they are and be willing to be open to their own opinions and ideas. Rock near me had a spider web with leaves entrapped but no spider was present but he left his work behind. The spider may or may not be alive but he will be remembered for the spider web.
