Immanuel Kant Biography
Immanuel Kant was born Emmanuel in eastern Prussia into a poor family in 1724. His family had
originally emigrated from Scotland where they spelled their last name Cant. Emmanuel s family was
quite large by today s standards consisting of nine children, he was the fourth born and only one of
four to make it to adulthood. He and his siblings grew up in a Pietist house, the focus of Pietism was
the literal study of the bible. Their childhood was a strict and punitive one that stressed religious
teachings over the sciences and mathematics. After learning Hebrew, Emmanuel changed his name to
Immanuel. While attending the Collegium Fridericianum was a good student, Immanuel improved his
studies and eventually enrolled at the University of Kongsberg by age 16 in 1740. It is there that he
taught about the great philosophers Leibniz and Wolff by a rationalist Martin Knutzen. It is also here
where Kant was exposed to the mathematical physics of Sir Isaac Newton. In 1746 Kant s father died,
he left the university to become a private tutor. Kant would eventually rejoin the university and spend

Hume , writings were the catalyst that allowed Kant to see things in a different light and inspiring him
to write his Critique of Pure Reason in 1781, which has become known as the First Critique. In this
book, Kant laid out the limits and scope of pure reason. This is where Kant explained the major
differences with priori and posteriori knowledge. He also went on to define analytic and synthetic
judgements. This book was very hard to read due to it using complex, confusing terminology and
being a very dry topic. Kant tried to clear up confusion from his first book by writing a second shorter

Who Is Beno Mandelbrot
Benoît B. Mandelbrot was a French and American mathematician scientist most widely recognized as
being the pioneer of fractal geometry. Mandelbrot was born on 20 November 1924 in Warsaw, Poland.
Mandelbrot came from a family of Lithuanian Jews where his mother was a dental surgeon and his
father was a salesman of clothes. In 1936, at the age of twelve, his family emigrated from Poland and
settled in Paris, France. It was in Paris that Mandelbrot would be introduced to mathematics by the
Parisian mathematician, and his uncle, Scholem Mandelbrojt. During the German occupation of
France during World War II, Mandelbrot and his family fled to the town of Tulle, France to avoid
Jewish persecution. Mandelbrot recalls this period of his life as ... Show more content on

He worked at International Business Machines Corporation (IBM) for over thirty five years where he
would eventually be awarded the honor of IBM Fellow. (Benoît Mandelbrot, Wikipedia) It was at IBM
that Mandelbrot came up with the idea of using the computer technology that was available to graph
his mathematical work that he would become famous for. Upon his departure from IBM, he became a
professor of mathematics at Yale University. In 1999, at the age of 75, he became the oldest professor
to receive tenure at Yale University. (Benoît Mandelbrot, MacTutor History of Mathematics Archive)
Mandelbrot also received many other honors including an appointment at the Pacific Northwest
National Laboratory where he was appointed as a Battelle Fellow. (Benoît Mandelbrot, Wikipedia)
Mandelbrot was heavily criticized early on his career by the mathematical community as being an
imbecile for his theories because Mandelbrot rejected traditional Euclidean geometry for his work
with fractals because they could not describe irregularly shaped forms. (Davis, Profile of Benoît B.
Mandelbrot); Mandelbrot was repeatedly told that you re wasting your time (Davis, Profile of Benoît
B. Mandelbrot) by his contemporaries. As time passed the criticism eventually ceased and Mandelbrot
was honored accordingly. Mandelbrot s most notable contribution consists of introducing the concept
of roughness to mathematics through his mathematical work The Fractal Geometry of Nature, which
was: ... a revised and enlarged version of his 1977 book entitled Fractals: Form, Chance and
Dimension, which in turn was a revised, enlarged, and translated version of his 1975 French book, Les

Immigration And The Issue Of Immigration
My current event is on the issue of Immigration and Refugees that is going on in our society.
Immigrants have been the back bone of what made America great. This country is supposed to be the
land of opportunity. For the people that come here that is all that they hear. Wanting a fresh start from
whatever country they came from. The NASW (2015) said that Immigration has increased rapidly in
the 1990s, with more than 13 million people moved to the United States (p.176). Immigrants and
Refugees is an issue that has been talked about for many years. In 1965 the Immigration and
Nationality Act Amendments provided a sweeping change in immigration law. The national origins
system was abolished and a new set of priorities for admitting immigrants was adopted (NASW, 2015,
p. 176). So Immigration has been a part of our culture, American society, and policy making for a long
time now. It is talked about today even with during our Presidential campaign for 2016. The problems
with Immigrants and Refugees coming to America came to issue when Donald Trump said he would
deport all undocumented immigrants in the United States which is an estimated 11 million people
(Saunt, 2015). In this article the Author Claudio Saunt made it his effort to explain that is a horrible
idea. Saunt (2015) wrote in his article that In the past American cities and countries in the Southwest
and Midwest tried to expel Mexican Americans once before in the 1930s, and it was a traumatic result

Utah National Park
Between Friday 15th April and Sunday 17th April I visited Zion National Park in Southern Utah.
Although the park s expansive 229 miles of open land differentiate it from the traditional museum, I
soon began to notice several similarities between the way in which the site had been managed by the
National Parks Service and the conventional format of museological spaces.
This first of these came to my attention while riding the free shuttle bus that runs between popular
locations within the park. During the fifteen minute journey from the Zion Canyon Visitor Centre to
the Angels Landing trailhead, a recorded audio tour guides visitors through their surroundings using
several different narrators, with each one focussing on a specific subject. The first of these was a
Native American man who spoke in vague terms about his people s millennia old claim to the land
while reinforcing positive stereotypes related to environmentalism and sustainability. While the shuttle
was introduced as a means of reducing traffic in the area and restor[ing] tranquillity to Zion Canyon ,
there was a slight irony to the fact that the narrator was espousing the virtues of the the rush of the

The most prominent of these was the Zion Human History Museum, which documents the park s
inhabitants from its early Native American population through to its Mormon settlers in the nineteenth
century and beyond. I realise it reflects badly upon me as a Museums Studies student to admit that I
didn t venture through the doors of this museum, but in my defense, the idea of visiting a national park
for a couple of days and choosing to devote some of that precious time to wandering around a building
seems almost as absurd as the local cinema s decision to advertise a film about the park presented in

Abstract:
InfoSec Policy, generally it is one of most important factor in securing a data framework, is

Rhetorical Analysis of A Whisper of AIDS In 1891, Voltairine de Cleyre wrote The Philosophy of
Selfishness and Metaphysical Ethics, critiquing the selfish and egoistic mindset of society. This same
mindset is critiqued by Mary Fisher in A Whisper of AIDS . She uses rationally emotional rhetoric in
order to criticize this self ism that exists in the world. Fisher begins by speaking of the non existent
impacts of movements that have attempted to raise awareness about AIDS. She utilizes the word
despite in consecutive phrases to show that despite science and research and good intentions , nothing
significant has occurred because the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The connotation of killed has a double effect. First, its negative connotation creates an image in one s
head of a mob of people destroying one another. It represents how severe the aftermath of the virus
has been. The second effect, one that is deeper, and somewhat hidden, is that the word killed implies
the killing of open mindedness and selflessness. It shows how people hurt each other, knock each
other down, and even kill each other for their own selfish desires. In this case, society has ignored the
AIDS virus because they have the thought that If I don t have it, I shouldn t care about it . This kind of
thinking has lay ruin for the victims of this virus, who have been hurt even more due to the ignorance
of society towards such a major problem. Fisher refers to empirics in order to prove the detrimental
effects of having a selfish society. She speaks of how her grandfather had heard the Pastor Niemoeller
say that when [the Nazis] came after the Jews , he didn t protest because he wasn t a Jew. When the
Nazis came after the Trade Unionists , the pastor did not protest because he wasn t a Trade Unionist.
But when the Nazis came after [the pastor] , there was no one left to protest . The parallelism used
here helps to better define the impacts of a self minded society, supporting the speaker s main purpose
which is to critique the self ism that

Lennon Mccartney Relationship
It was 60 years ago, John Lennon told the band to play.
The day 6th July 1957 held a strong part in the history of rock and roll music.
The Garden fete, that was held at St Peter s church, Woolton in Liverpool that year was the starting
point of the meeting of two young boys, James Paul McCartney and john Winston Lennon. It was the
first meeting of the partnership that made the legendary songwriting duo for the band the Beatles,
creating hits such as hard days night(she loves you) to let it be from the 1960s to the end of 1969,
where they like to call them self as Lennon McCartney ; meet each other for the first time formally in

back home as a fellow bandmate asked Lennon, what did he think of that kid, paul . Lennon replied
him that he liked him(Paul) and thought he was really good, the questions then turned around into
john asking whether they should ask Paul to join the band with him, but john already knew the answer
he needed before needing a reply from his bandmate.
Their meeting on 6th July 1957 was a huge change towards music history. The day McCartney met
Lennon, the day Lennon was impressed by the skills of McCartney, the day McCartney formally knew
Lennon, everything. The next few years were filled with both of them bonding and working together

Data Mining in the Pharmaceutical Industry
A Look at Data Mining in the Pharmaceutical Industry
Topics Covered: 1) What is Data Mining and why is it used? 2) How is Data Mining used in the
Pharmaceutical Industry? 3) Recent debate in the legality of Data Mining and the Pharmaceutical
Industry
Pharmaceutical companies are taking advantage of the growing use of technology in the healthcare
arena by using data to enhance their marketing efforts and increase the quality of research and
development. The process of data mining allows companies to extract useful information from large
sets of individual data. This process provides a knowledge that is vital to a pharmaceutical company s

As stated above, data mining is often used to solve business decision problems, it provides ways to
quantitatively measure what business users should already know qualitatively (Linoff, 2004). A
growing number of industries are using data mining to become more competitive in their market by
primarily focusing on the customers; increasing their customer relationships and increasing customer
acquisition.
2) How is Data Mining Used in the Pharmaceutical Industry?
The pharmaceutical industry has copious uses for data mining which include increasing the efficiency
of research and development, contributing to drug safety information and to increasing the
effectiveness of their marketing efforts. Understanding that the benefit of data mining is allowing for
the extraction of useful information from large sets of individual data, it is evident that the
pharmaceutical industry has a need for this process. The abundance of diseases prevalent in the world,
the multitude of drugs available for each disease, and the variety of patients that take the products,

novel at The Korova Milkbar, which is a mesto, place, where Alex and his droogs drink some milk
with a little surprise of liquor in their beverages. Later they end up leaving the Milkbar, while they are

The Causes Of The Cultural Revolution Of China
Revolution: the deconstruction phase in the circle of societal reconstruction. In most cases, the society
rebuilds itself, improves, takes mistakes from the past, and makes sure to establish itself as something
new, distancing itself from its past faults. However, that is not always the case. The cultural revolution
of China, lasting from 1966 1976, was a revolution unlike many others; it resulted in the destruction of
traditional Chinese culture, as well as the reshaping of the Chinese political mentality.
Mao Zedong, the chairman of the Communist Party of China, was the chief instigator of the
revolution. Much of his motivations stemmed from his poor relationships with other party leaders.
This tension with the other members was caused by the Great Leap Forward, an attempt by Mao to
increase agricultural and industrial production in China within a very short span of time. This resulted
in the overworking of farmers, a famine with an estimated 40 million deaths, and a disgrace for Mao
(Ramzy). Even his intended successor, Liu Shaoqi, who was groomed to perfection by Mao himself,
turned his back on him after the disastrous attempt at reforming the agricultural industry. However,
due to Mao s well placed use of propaganda, he managed to climb back to power, establish a loyal
base, and spread his ideology across China. He believed the Communist Party to be corrupt and need
to be cleansed of those poisoned by intellectualism. Liu Shaoqi, the newly elected president of China,

The ovarian and testicular tissue may be separate, or the two may be combined in what is called an
ovotestis. Affected individuals have sex chromosomes showing male female mosaicism (where one
individual possesses both the male XY and female XX chromosome pairs). Most often, but not
always, the chromosome complement is 46, XX, and in every such individual there also exists
evidence of Y chromosomal material on one of the autosomes (any of the 22 pairs of chromosomes
other than the sex chromosomes). Individuals with a 46, XX chromosome complement usually have
ambiguous external genitalia with a sizable phallus and are therefore often reared as males. However,
they develop breasts during puberty and menstruate and in only rare cases actually produce sperm. In
46, XX intersex (female pseudo hermaphroditism), individuals have male external genitalia but the
chromosomal constitution and reproductive organs of a female. In 46, XY
(malepseudohermaphroditism), individuals have ambiguous or female external genitalia but the
chromosomal constitution and reproductive organs of a male, though the testes may be malformed or
absent. (The Editors of Encyclopædia Britannica, 2015) Hermaphrodites are actually quite common;
more often being shown through plants and animals such as worms, snails and barnacles. (The Editors
of Encyclopædia Britannica, 2015) Most fish also have the ability to change gender over a course of

Expanding Our Lunch Period Essay
Expanding our Lunch Period
We re talking about our kids futures. Our schools need to be teaching our kids how to be healthy.
Nadine Burke Harris. Nadine Burke is an American pediatrician. She is the founder and CEO of the
Center for Youth Wellness. This facility focuses on children who have had bad childhood experiences.
Mrs. Harris is an educated woman on what children need to have in order to be healthy so we should
take her advice. A thirty minute lunch period is too short, therefore we should make it longer.
Students cannot finish their lunch in the amount of time we are given which causes us to be wasteful.
Since lunch is only thirty minutes, I do not have enough time to finish my lunch. For example, if I
have a sandwich in my lunch, I end up throwing at least half of it into the garbage. Throwing half of
your lunch out is not only wasting the food, but the money you spent. If my dad knew how much of
my lunch I wasted he would not be happy because he is buying my food. Children in Africa don t have
enough food to nourish their bodies, meanwhile we are wasting perfectly good food that could save a
child s life in need of food. Every 5 seconds a child dies due to hunger and 1.3 billion tons of food is
wasted every year around the globe (in text citation). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Comparing Baz Luhrmann s Romeo And Juliet
When people think about Shakespeare they may think it is serious and boring, but really it doesn t
have to be. The stories can be exciting and dramatic to all ages. A director named Baz Luhrmann made
a film that was a modern day version of Romeo and Juliet. In Baz Luhrmann s film of Romeo and
Juliet, he made decisions regarding actors, setting and costumes because he wanted to attract a
younger crowd since Romeo and Juliet is a story about two young lovers. One way Luhrmann
attracted a young crowd was by making the time and place of the film more modernized. Luhrmann s
film was located in Verona beach, NY, instead of filming in Verona, Italy. Filming in Verona beach
gives the film more of a interesting feel for young adults to watch, because some of the play is in the
city area and some is on the beach. In contrast to, Verona, Italy, where it was filmed in a boring and
old town. In addition, the film is set in the 1900 s instead of the 1500 s which makes the film feel
more modernized. Changing the setting of the film to be more modern appeals a younger crowd
because it makes the film less tedious. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the play, the Montagues wear hawaiian shirts, and the Capulets wear suits. At the Capulet s party,
Romeo dresses up as a knight and Juliet dresses up as an angel. This was clever of Luhrmann because
it relates to the phrase, Carried away by a man in knight in shining armour. Another clever decision he
makes was when he has Tybalt dress as a devilish looking man. This is coincidentally showing that he
is Romeo s devil and is always trying to ruin Romeo s life. These costumes make it easier to follow
and understand the story, tell characters apart, and make the Shakespeare story less formal. This
contributes to the interest of the younger eye because a more modern looking play is more

John Bowlby And Mary Ainsworth s Attachment Theories
John Bowlby and Mary Ainsworth s attachment theories derive from the idea that in early
development infants develop different attachment behaviors in relation to their caregivers. This
emotional bond between an infant and their parents can have an enduring impact on future
relationships throughout an individual s life. Research has shown that there does not have to be a
biological component for an infant to bond with a parent. Instead the bond or attachment is related to
quality and quantity of interaction between parent and child. (Boyd, Bee, p. 130) There are four main
attachment styles; secure attachment, insecure/avoidant attachment, insecure/ambivalent attachment,
and insecure/disorganized attachment. (Boyd, Bee, p. 133) Each of the four attachment styles come
with a variety of associated characteristics and behaviors. For example: a child who develops a secure
attachment will be an active explorer, easily soothed, and prefers their mother over a stranger. In
comparison an infant who develops an insecure/avoidant attachment avoid contact with their mother
and has no preference in interaction with their mother over a stranger. Insecure children will not resist
interaction from their mother, but they do not seek. Infants who have secure attachment will often seek
contact and interaction with their mother. (Boyd, Bee, p. 133) Growing up I had a very nurturing and
loving environment. Even though I am one of seven children my needs were always met by my
parents

Finding Decision Aids For Mode Of Delivery Among Women Essay
Introduction The authors and contributors of the study are all from different universities holding
similar positions including: A. Montgomery, a senior lecturer in primary care research; C. Emmett, the
trail coordinator; T. Fahey, a professor of general practice; and C. Jones, held the research assistant
position. Along with the above; I. Rickettes, professor of assistive systems and health computing; R.
Patel, is a specialist registrar in obstetrics and gynecology; T. Peters, professor of primary care health
services research; and lastly D. Murphy, a professor of obstetrics and representing on behalf of the
Decision Aids for Mode of Next Delivery (DIAMOND) study group (Montgomery, et al. 2007). The
authors clearly stated within the title the study is a randomized controlled trial and is both a qualitative
and qualitative study. The purpose of the study was to find decision aids for mode of delivery among
women that have previously had a caesarean section; which as well was stated in the research title
(Montgomery, et al. 2007). The abstract was very informative and effective for explaining and giving
an overview of the entire study, explaining design, objectives, setting, participants, interventions,
measures, and results. The study was funded by the BUPA Foundation and the AAM was partially
supported by a postdoctoral fellowship from the UK Department of Health National Coordinating
Centre for Research Capacity Development (Montgomery, et al. 2007). There were no

Ode On A Grecian Urn John Keats Analysis
In the poem Ode on a Grecian Urn, John Keats talks about three drawings that he sees on an ancient
urn. Throughout the poem, Keats uses rhetorical questions, imagery, and a change in tone to explain to
the readers what he sees on the urn and the feelings he is getting from the old urn s pictures. He helps
the reader understand there is a deeper meaning beneath the surface of the art and how the urn is
teaching life lessons while it stays there silent. In the first stanza lines 5 7, the poem asks what leaf
fring d legend haunts about thy shape of deities or morals or both... , and this starts off the description
of the first drawing Keats sees on the urn. The first stanza ends with multiple rhetorical questions, and
Keats uses these questions as a way to get the reader to think about the images that he is seeing. He
also personifies the urn and is asking these questions to the urn. Even though the urn cannot respond,
he still asks the questions to get the reader to start visualizing what the drawing has. There are people
present, but he s asking if they are gods or mortal people. He s asking about the woman and what is
going on between the men and the woman, and he says what wild ecstasy (line 10) referencing a party
that might be going on. Now the reader can think about the kind of relationships the men and women
had back then. It could mean they would play with one another and be in a happy mood, or it could
have been the men were chasing the women because the women were

Plato s The Socratic Method
Plato wrote nearly 30 dialogues, most of which focused on his predecessor, Socrates. His earlier works
focused on Socrates Theories, or the Socratic method, while his later works focused on his own laws
and Xenophon s Hiero. Some of Plato s dialogues include the Meno, Symposium, Republic, and the
Phaedo. The Socratic method is a form of inquiry and discussion between individuals based on asking
and answering questions to stimulate critical thinking and to generate ideas. This paper is going to
focus on a few of Plato s earlier works and how they incorporate the Socratic method, versus his later
works that seem to go in a different direction all together. First, it is important to understand that the
Socratic method is a dialectical method that often involves discussion between people in which one
person questions the defense of a point of view; many times the person defending his point of view
may contradict himself, which gives the opposition a stronger defense. For example, Socrates would
use a simple question to begin many of his teachings, such as Is the pious loved by the gods because it
is pious, or is it pious because it is loved by the gods? As an alternative example, are actions right, or
wrong, based only on the authority s approval of said actions? Socrates used this method many times
to secure his point of view. Although Socrates wrote nothing down, therefore not allowing us to truly
study his point of views or his teachings, we can assume that most of

Thank You MaAm Analysis
In Thank You Ma am written by Langston Hughes, a young boy by the name of Roger attempts to
steal the purse of a woman of the streets. Roger s growth was greatly impacted through the teachings
of Ms. Luella Bates Washington Jones, about choice, trust, and about honesty. As Roger is caught he
learns a valuable lesson from the compassionate woman who treats him with kindness rather than
reporting him to the police. If a person who was nearly robbed caught the thief they would not have
been so kind as to do the things the Ms. Jones did for her robber. Every life decision made is a choice,
people choose to go one way or another. Roger chose to steal the purse of the women on street. He
chose to put himself in a situation that could potentially end badly. After his encounter he did not
expect to receive the kindness that he did from the women.
The first lesson that Mrs. Jones teaches Roger is that stealing her purse was a choice that he made. It
was a choice that was going to have consequences. His choosing to steal her purse was her
opportunity to teach him that every choice we make has negative and positive effects. She tells him
that it was his choice to put himself in contact with her, and that the contact was not going to be
something that he got away with. In this scene Roger is brought home to Mrs. Jones house where she
made him wash his face and fed him. When Roger is asked to wash his face, he chooses to do as she
says rather than taking advantage of the opportunity

The Great Awakening Research Paper
The main outcome of the Awakening was a resistance in contrast to spiritual law which leaked into
different zones of colonial life. In spite of the fact that a religious development, the Awakening had
ramifications in social and political circles also. Traditions of thoughtfulness and obligingness, the
overseeing standards of life in the colonies, were put aside for a more difficult stage. The Great
Awakening is generally partitioned into four times of American history. The initially happened while
America was still a part of the English settlements. Such religious masterminds as Jonathan Edwards
and George Whitfield urged a scholarly method to scripture. Amid this period, the houses of worship

Population explosion is condition where an organisms numbers exceeds carrying capacity of its

This cycle in fact might be considered as a positive feedback, in that the increase in one results in the

b) RELIGIOUS BELIEF AND TRADITION:
A lot of families prefer having a son rather than a daughter. As a result, a lot of families have more
children than they actually want or can afford, resulting in increased poverty, lack of resources, and
most importantly, an increased population.
Another one of India s cultural norms is for a girl to get married at an early age. In most of the rural
areas and in some urban areas as well, families prefer to get their girls married at the age of 14 or 15.
Although child marriage is illegal in India, the culture and the society surrounding the girls in India
does not allow them to oppose such decisions taken by their family. Since these girls get married at a
very early age, they do not have the opportunity to get educated. Therefore, they remain uneducated
and teach the same norms to their own children, and the tradition goes on from one generation to the
other.
2.DEATH RATE:
Although poverty has increased and the development of the country continues to be hampered, the
improvements in medical facilities have been tremendous. This improvement might be considered
positive, but as far as population increase is considered, it has only been

Techniques used in Alfred Hitchcock s The Rear Window
Marta
Alfred Hitchcock was an amazing director and his films have lived on and are still thriving today due
to the techniques he used in his films and the way he created them. He was known for taking the least
probable scenarios and turning them into a masterpiece just by playing with light and form or angles.
Some of these films are Psycho, Perfect Crime, The Man Who Knew Too Much and Rear Window. At
first it was quite difficult to pinpoint a particular film to choose as he used brilliant techniques in all of
them. However, I have chosen to talk about Rear Window. This is because the fact that the whole film
occurs in the same setting and still holds our interest is very hard to do but he was able to by using
diverse camera angles and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At first the scene is comedic, that is until the man from across the courtyard leaves his house at 2 a.m.
We see Jeff s watch as the man comes in and out of his apartment 3 times. Each time, the audience
watch as Thorwald (the man) carries a large briefcase with him. Long shots and canning are used to
mimic Jeff s gaze as he follows thethorwald s progress. This makes the audience feel suspicious and
confused as to why someone would leave their apartment so many time in one night.
Too keep them a bit distracted, there are also individual scenes going in the other apartments so that
the audience don t have time to dwell on their suspicion. All is dark except for a couple of houses
which also gives the scene as sinister twist since at the start it was colorful but now it is dark and the
camera is not quite focused. Also, the cuts and fades in this scene are very unpredictable and
unsatisfying, because, as we are looking through Jeff s eyes, he constantly falls asleep which then
prevents us from seeing any more of what happens as the scene fades to darkness. The shots are also
unsatisfying because although they are mostly wide shots, we don t quite see every thing we want to
see.
The Next key scene I will be talking about is the climax when the murder is solved. It all starts with
the sudden death of a dog that was digging around in Mr.Thorwald s (the mad from across the
courtyard) flowers. This makes Jeff suspicious and suddenly he asks

Preparation, Characterization, And Physical Properties Of...
1 Introduction.
Preparation, characterization, and physical properties of a nanostructured materials of silver
(nanoparticles and nanocomposites) have been the subject of various researcher in many scientific
laboratories during the past years for many studies and it has been also established that size, stability,
color, shape, and properties depend on the method of preparation (radiation, photochemical,
electrochemical, and chemical) as well as experimental factors such as [reactants], [stabilizer and/or
capping agents], temperature, order of mixing of reactants, presence of stabilizers and capping agents
and even on the addition rate of reducing agents [1 12].
The properties of such nanocomposites can further be improved through various treatments like,
annealing, UV irradiation and Gamma irradiation is one of the extensively used tools to alter the
structural, optical properties [13, 14], Many of reports were used gamma irradiation to synthesis the
Ag nanoparticles in PVA [15,16], and the other literature were prepared Ag PVA nanocomposite films
and then irradiated with gamma at doses (25, 50, 75, 100 KGy) [17,]. According to this literature the
absorption peak intensity at 427 nm for silver nanoparticles is increased with increasing the gamma
doses, until the higher doses 100 KGy, its decrease and the reason for this behaviour at higher doses
the polyvinyl alcohol will suffer degradation.
But in our literature, we are introducing a new explanation for

The Job Requirements And Importance Of Librarians
The job requirements and importance of librarians
The whole point to the human race is to reproduce and to become civilized is the ultimate human goal.
Libraries are needed in our society as a quiet place to study and learn the knowledge needed to
succeed in the future. Libraries are the structure of our society, they are the home to countless books
and even more knowledge. Some may say that libraries and, therefore librarians, aren t needed
because children do most of their learning in schools instead of in libraries. Which is a valid point but
most english classes ask students to visit libraries in order to read books that are needed for that
particular class. Another point that can be pointed out is that even in the classroom ... Show more

Librarians can sometimes also be referred to as information professionals, and librarians held about
156,000 jobs in 2010.(cite) Most worked in school and academic libraries, while others worked in
special libraries, business libraries, or in libraries of other organizations, such as legal offices.

Librarians are actually quite qualified to teach classes and handle the responsibilities that teachers
usually handle. Most librarians need a Master s Degree in Library Science (MLS), generally from a
program accredited by the American Library Association (ALA) is required for most librarian jobs in
public, academic, or special libraries. Librarians employed by the Federal government must have an
MLS, it usually takes one to two years to complete an MLS program and all MLS programs include
computer related coursework. A PhD can help one get a teaching position at a college or university or
a top administration position in a college or university library, and some librarians have an additional
degree in the area in which they specialize. Most states require that librarians working in local
libraries are certified, most certification for school librarians (also called school media specialists)
vary by state. Some states require that school media specialists are certified teachers, while others
require they have only an MLS. Some require a master s degree in education with a specialization in
library science. (cite) While there will be competition for

Spartan Politics
Sparta had a Political organisation unlike many other Greek states at that time that drew upon
elements of all types of Government structures. The Spartan constitution contained elements of
monarchy, oligarchy and democracy and was described by ancient writers as a mixed constitution. The
four elements were made by the two kings (monarchical), Gerousia (oligarchic), the Five Ephors
(limited Democratic) and the Ekklesia (democratic). This system all came about from the work of the
law giver named Lycurgus who is acclaimed to have received the Rhetra from the Delphic Oracle and
impose it upon Sparta, However even his existence is under debate between historians past and
present such as Xenophon and Plutarch.
The monarchical component of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although the kings were the supreme commanders of the armies the Ephors had control over many
aspects that would have undermined the Kings authorities. The Kings were not able to declare war
unless the Ephors had issued orders for mobilizing the Spartan army according to Xenophon. They
also had the power to direct generals to particular campaigns and constantly acted as overseers always
having two Ephors accompany the King into battle. They were responsible for the education of the
Spartan youth and maintaining discipline throughout the community this was achieved through there
power to be able to fine people on the spot for many things including even being lazy. Their jobs also
entitled them to join the Gerousia in conducting criminal trials and were privileged even more in being
the only magistrates to be able to hold a civil trial. They also controlled the Krypteia and state
finances. According to Aristotle among all the duties two chair the meetings for both the Gerousia and
Ekklesia which would have given them considerate power over the other governmental systems.
Aristotle claims that the Ephors were not a perfect government system and had flaws because even
poor men could be elected, this made some open to bribery, but this was mitigated by limitation of
membership to a year.
Plutarch once quoted Lycurgus about the Gerousia saying members had

The Plot against People Essay
The Plot against People
Have you ever thought that the possibility exists that inanimate objects are in fact plotting against
people in an effort to make our lives even more difficult than they actually are? In The Plot against
People, Russell Baker, a newspaper columnist and humorist, adopts a wry view of the world in which
he gives inanimate objects mischievous aims. As a class assignment, I was called upon to write my
own version in the style of Baker.
How often is it that we are late for work or school because we could not find our keys? On how many
occasions have we humans been locked out of our dorms or houses and yet have our keys remain
warm and cozy inside?
These events are not isolated to one group of humans or to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The reason for their uprising is still unknown, but their numbers are strong; to every one person, there
are about three keys. As Baker explains in The Plot against People, Many inanimate objects, of course,
find it extremely difficult to break down. Therefore, they have had to evolve a different technique for
resisting man. They get lost.
Keys have power and they know it. We have all been through a time in our lives when we were
trapped in our own homes because our keys were conveniently missing. Trapped in our own homes!
Feelings of frustration and anger quickly build up, but meanwhile our keys stay tucked away in a dark
cozy corner and snicker. They are at this point, where they want to be, in control and powerful. Russell
Baker was right. Keys frequently travel through six or seven rooms to find hiding space under a
couch.
Our keys take pleasure in putting humans in embarrassing situations. They derive a certain degree of
joy from it. They enjoy seeing us walk out of a room with just a towel wrapped around us and not
being in our hands but, instead, lying between the warm covers. There, they wait for the sound of the
slammed door and our frightful shriek.
One of the most distressing events is having your keys locked in your car while you stand helpless and
cold on the outside. This experience is not only nerve racking, but also costly, since, most times, a
locksmith may have to be called in to get you back into your car.
Keys have

His family had originally emigrated from Scotland where they spelled their last name Cant. Emmanuel s family was quite large by today s standards consisting of nine children, he was the fourth born and only one of four to make it to adulthood. He and his siblings grew up in a Pietist house, the focus of Pietism was the literal study of the bible. Their childhood was a strict and punitive one that stressed religious teachings over the sciences and mathematics. After learning Hebrew, Emmanuel changed his name to Immanuel. While attending the Collegium Fridericianum was a good student, Immanuel improved his studies and eventually enrolled at the University of Kongsberg by age 16 in 1740. It is there that he taught about the great philosophers Leibniz and Wolff by a rationalist Martin Knutzen. It is also here where Kant was exposed to the mathematical physics of Sir Isaac Newton. Hume , writings were the catalyst that allowed Kant to see things in a different light and inspiring him to write his Critique of Pure Reason in 1781, which has become known as the First Critique. In this book, Kant laid out the limits and scope of pure reason. This is where Kant explained the major differences with priori and posteriori knowledge. He also went on to define analytic and synthetic judgements. This book was very hard to read due to it using complex, confusing terminology and being a very dry topic. Kant tried to clear up confusion from his first book by writing a second shorter one titled Prolegomena to any Future Metaphysics (1783), this one was easier to read and set the path for his view on metaphysics and ... Mandelbrot was born on 20 November 1924 in Warsaw, Poland. Mandelbrot came from a family of Lithuanian Jews where his mother was a dental surgeon and his father was a salesman of clothes. In 1936, at the age of twelve, his family emigrated from Poland and settled in Paris, France. It was in Paris that Mandelbrot would be introduced to mathematics by the Parisian mathematician, and his uncle, Scholem Mandelbrojt. • 6. Immigration And The Issue Of Immigration My current event is on the issue of Immigration and Refugees that is going on in our society. Immigrants have been the back bone of what made America great. This country is supposed to be the land of opportunity. For the people that come here that is all that they hear. Wanting a fresh start from whatever country they came from. The NASW (2015) said that Immigration has increased rapidly in the 1990s, with more than 13 million people moved to the United States (p.176). Immigrants and Refugees is an issue that has been talked about for many years. In 1965 the Immigration and Nationality Act Amendments provided a sweeping change in immigration law. The national origins system was abolished and a new set of priorities for admitting immigrants was adopted (NASW, 2015, p. 176). So Immigration has been a part of our culture, American society, and policy making for a long time now. It is talked about today even with during our Presidential campaign for 2016. The problems with Immigrants and Refugees coming to America came to issue when Donald Trump said he would deport all undocumented immigrants in the United States which is an estimated 11 million people (Saunt, 2015). In this article the Author Claudio Saunt made it his effort to explain that is a horrible idea. Saunt (2015) wrote in his article that In the past American cities and countries in the Southwest and Midwest tried to expel Mexican Americans once before in the 1930s, and it was a traumatic result for the ... Although the park s expansive 229 miles of open land differentiate it from the traditional museum, I soon began to notice several similarities between the way in which the site had been managed by the National Parks Service and the conventional format of museological spaces. This first of these came to my attention while riding the free shuttle bus that runs between popular locations within the park. During the fifteen minute journey from the Zion Canyon Visitor Centre to the Angels Landing trailhead, a recorded audio tour guides visitors through their surroundings using several different narrators, with each one focussing on a specific subject. The first of these was a Native American man who spoke in vague terms about his people s millennia old claim to the land while reinforcing positive stereotypes related to environmentalism and sustainability. While the shuttle was introduced as a means of reducing traffic in the area and restor[ing] tranquillity to Zion Canyon , there was a slight irony to the fact that the narrator was espousing the virtues of the the rush of the wind and the water to dozens of tourists sat on an air conditioned ... This same mindset is critiqued by Mary Fisher in A Whisper of AIDS . She uses rationally emotional rhetoric in order to criticize this self ism that exists in the world. It represents how severe the aftermath of the virus has been. The second effect, one that is deeper, and somewhat hidden, is that the word killed implies the killing of open mindedness and selflessness. It shows how people hurt each other, knock each other down, and even kill each other for their own selfish desires. In this case, society has ignored the AIDS virus because they have the thought that If I don t have it, I shouldn t care about it . This kind of thinking has lay ruin for the victims of this virus, who have been hurt even more due to the ignorance of society towards such a major problem. Fisher refers to empirics in order to prove the detrimental effects of having a selfish society. When the Nazis came after the Trade Unionists , the pastor did not protest because he wasn t a Trade Unionist. But when the Nazis came after [the pastor] , there was no one left to protest . In most cases, the society rebuilds itself, improves, takes mistakes from the past, and makes sure to establish itself as something new, distancing itself from its past faults. However, that is not always the case. The cultural revolution of China, lasting from 1966 1976, was a revolution unlike many others; it resulted in the destruction of traditional Chinese culture, as well as the reshaping of the Chinese political mentality. Mao Zedong, the chairman of the Communist Party of China, was the chief instigator of the revolution. Much of his motivations stemmed from his poor relationships with other party leaders. This tension with the other members was caused by the Great Leap Forward, an attempt by Mao to increase agricultural and industrial production in China within a very short span of time. This resulted in the overworking of farmers, a famine with an estimated 40 million deaths, and a disgrace for Mao (Ramzy). Even his intended successor, Liu Shaoqi, who was groomed to perfection by Mao himself, turned his back on him after the disastrous attempt at reforming the agricultural industry. However, due to Mao s well placed use of propaganda, he managed to climb back to power, establish a loyal base, and spread his ideology across China. He believed the Communist Party to be corrupt and need to be cleansed of those poisoned by intellectualism. Liu Shaoqi, the newly elected president of China, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Nadine Burke is an American pediatrician. She is the founder and CEO of the Center for Youth Wellness. This facility focuses on children who have had bad childhood experiences. Mrs. Harris is an educated woman on what children need to have in order to be healthy so we should take her advice. A thirty minute lunch period is too short, therefore we should make it longer. Students cannot finish their lunch in the amount of time we are given which causes us to be wasteful. Since lunch is only thirty minutes, I do not have enough time to finish my lunch. For example, if I have a sandwich in my lunch, I end up throwing at least half of it into the garbage. Throwing half of your lunch out is not only wasting the food, but the money you spent. If my dad knew how much of my lunch I wasted he would not be happy because he is buying my food. Children in Africa don t have enough food to nourish their bodies, meanwhile we are wasting perfectly good food that could save a child s life in need of food. Nutrition and Health Diagnostics (Diagnostics) is a food safety business unit within the DuPont company that focuses on food based pathogen detection systems. The business currently sells a system that uses specific in house consumables to large food processing plants that can accurately detect the presence of pathogens that are harmful for human consumption. This testing is required by the United States government and most countries around the world. The system uses a polymerase chain reaction (pCR) method that can detect the presence of bacteria in an industry leading four hours. The accuracy and speed of this system allows major food processing plants to be very efficient in their packaging and distributing of foods. The current system, the Q7, appeals to large companies who can afford a top of the line system and the consumables that are necessary to run multiple samples. The success of this ... • 19. Comparing Baz Luhrmann s Romeo And Juliet When people think about Shakespeare they may think it is serious and boring, but really it doesn t have to be. The stories can be exciting and dramatic to all ages. A director named Baz Luhrmann made a film that was a modern day version of Romeo and Juliet. In Baz Luhrmann s film of Romeo and Juliet, he made decisions regarding actors, setting and costumes because he wanted to attract a younger crowd since Romeo and Juliet is a story about two young lovers. One way Luhrmann attracted a young crowd was by making the time and place of the film more modernized. Luhrmann s film was located in Verona beach, NY, instead of filming in Verona, Italy. Filming in Verona beach gives the film more of a interesting feel for young adults to watch, because some of the play is in the city area and some is on the beach. In contrast to, Verona, Italy, where it was filmed in a boring and old town. In addition, the film is set in the 1900 s instead of the 1500 s which makes the film feel more modernized. Changing the setting of the film to be more modern appeals a younger crowd because it makes the film less tedious. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the play, the Montagues wear hawaiian shirts, and the Capulets wear suits. At the Capulet s party, Romeo dresses up as a knight and Juliet dresses up as an angel. This was clever of Luhrmann because it relates to the phrase, Carried away by a man in knight in shining armour. Another clever decision he makes was when he has Tybalt dress as a devilish looking man. This is coincidentally showing that he is Romeo s devil and is always trying to ruin Romeo s life. These costumes make it easier to follow and understand the story, tell characters apart, and make the Shakespeare story less formal. This contributes to the interest of the younger eye because a more modern looking play is more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The other main character is Sherlock Holmes and he is an amateur detective. Irene is kind and tender hearted towards Sherlock Holmes and takes him into this house when he is supposedly injured. Twice she has outsmarted the King of Bohemia twice she has been waylaid. There was no result . The King himself tells Sherlock Holmes that there are no lengths to which she would no go none . • 21. John Bowlby And Mary Ainsworth s Attachment Theories John Bowlby and Mary Ainsworth s attachment theories derive from the idea that in early development infants develop different attachment behaviors in relation to their caregivers. This emotional bond between an infant and their parents can have an enduring impact on future relationships throughout an individual s life. Research has shown that there does not have to be a biological component for an infant to bond with a parent. Instead the bond or attachment is related to quality and quantity of interaction between parent and child. (Boyd, Bee, p. 130) There are four main attachment styles; secure attachment, insecure/avoidant attachment, insecure/ambivalent attachment, and insecure/disorganized attachment. (Boyd, Bee, p. 133) Each of the four attachment styles come with a variety of associated characteristics and behaviors. For example: a child who develops a secure attachment will be an active explorer, easily soothed, and prefers their mother over a stranger. In comparison an infant who develops an insecure/avoidant attachment avoid contact with their mother and has no preference in interaction with their mother over a stranger. Insecure children will not resist interaction from their mother, but they do not seek. Infants who have secure attachment will often seek contact and interaction with their mother. • 23. Ode On A Grecian Urn John Keats Analysis In the poem Ode on a Grecian Urn, John Keats talks about three drawings that he sees on an ancient urn. Throughout the poem, Keats uses rhetorical questions, imagery, and a change in tone to explain to the readers what he sees on the urn and the feelings he is getting from the old urn s pictures. He helps the reader understand there is a deeper meaning beneath the surface of the art and how the urn is teaching life lessons while it stays there silent. In the first stanza lines 5 7, the poem asks what leaf fring d legend haunts about thy shape of deities or morals or both... , and this starts off the description of the first drawing Keats sees on the urn. The first stanza ends with multiple rhetorical questions, and Keats uses these questions as a way to get the reader to think about the images that he is seeing. He also personifies the urn and is asking these questions to the urn. Even though the urn cannot respond, he still asks the questions to get the reader to start visualizing what the drawing has. There are people present, but he s asking if they are gods or mortal people. He s asking about the woman and what is going on between the men and the woman, and he says what wild ecstasy (line 10) referencing a party that might be going on. • 24. Plato s The Socratic Method Plato wrote nearly 30 dialogues, most of which focused on his predecessor, Socrates. His earlier works focused on Socrates Theories, or the Socratic method, while his later works focused on his own laws and Xenophon s Hiero. Some of Plato s dialogues include the Meno, Symposium, Republic, and the Phaedo. The Socratic method is a form of inquiry and discussion between individuals based on asking and answering questions to stimulate critical thinking and to generate ideas. This paper is going to focus on a few of Plato s earlier works and how they incorporate the Socratic method, versus his later works that seem to go in a different direction all together. First, it is important to understand that the Socratic method is a dialectical method that often involves discussion between people in which one person questions the defense of a point of view; many times the person defending his point of view may contradict himself, which gives the opposition a stronger defense. For example, Socrates would use a simple question to begin many of his teachings, such as Is the pious loved by the gods because it is pious, or is it pious because it is loved by the gods? As an alternative example, are actions right, or wrong, based only on the authority s approval of said actions? Socrates used this method many times to secure his point of view. Although Socrates wrote nothing down, therefore not allowing us to truly study his point of views or his teachings, we can assume that most of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 25. Thank You MaAm Analysis In Thank You Ma am written by Langston Hughes, a young boy by the name of Roger attempts to steal the purse of a woman of the streets. Roger s growth was greatly impacted through the teachings of Ms. Luella Bates Washington Jones, about choice, trust, and about honesty. As Roger is caught he learns a valuable lesson from the compassionate woman who treats him with kindness rather than reporting him to the police. If a person who was nearly robbed caught the thief they would not have been so kind as to do the things the Ms. Jones did for her robber. Every life decision made is a choice, people choose to go one way or another. Roger chose to steal the purse of the women on street. He chose to put himself in a situation that could potentially end badly. After his encounter he did not expect to receive the kindness that he did from the women. The first lesson that Mrs. Jones teaches Roger is that stealing her purse was a choice that he made. It was a choice that was going to have consequences. His choosing to steal her purse was her opportunity to teach him that every choice we make has negative and positive effects. She tells him that it was his choice to put himself in contact with her, and that the contact was not going to be something that he got away with. In this scene Roger is brought home to Mrs. Jones house where she made him wash his face and fed him. Some of these films are Psycho, Perfect Crime, The Man Who Knew Too Much and Rear Window. At first it was quite difficult to pinpoint a particular film to choose as he used brilliant techniques in all of them. However, I have chosen to talk about Rear Window. All is dark except for a couple of houses which also gives the scene as sinister twist since at the start it was colorful but now it is dark and the camera is not quite focused. Also, the cuts and fades in this scene are very unpredictable and unsatisfying, because, as we are looking through Jeff s eyes, he constantly falls asleep which then prevents us from seeing any more of what happens as the scene fades to darkness. The shots are also unsatisfying because although they are mostly wide shots, we don t quite see every thing we want to see.
