Immanuel Kant was born Emmanuel in eastern Prussia into a poor family in 1724. His family had
originally emigrated from Scotland where they spelled their last name Cant. Emmanuel s family was
quite large by today s standards consisting of nine children, he was the fourth born and only one of
four to make it to adulthood. He and his siblings grew up in a Pietist house, the focus of Pietism was
the literal study of the bible. Their childhood was a strict and punitive one that stressed religious

Immanuel. While attending the Collegium Fridericianum was a good student, Immanuel improved his
studies and eventually enrolled at the University of Kongsberg by age 16 in 1740. It is there that he
taught about the great philosophers Leibniz and Wolff by a rationalist Martin Knutzen. It is also here

of China, lasting from 1966 1976, was a revolution unlike many others; it resulted in the destruction of

Mao Zedong, the chairman of the Communist Party of China, was the chief instigator of the

We re talking about our kids futures. Our schools need to be teaching our kids how to be healthy.
Nadine Burke Harris. Nadine Burke is an American pediatrician. She is the founder and CEO of the
Center for Youth Wellness. This facility focuses on children who have had bad childhood experiences.
Mrs. Harris is an educated woman on what children need to have in order to be healthy so we should
take her advice. A thirty minute lunch period is too short, therefore we should make it longer.
Students cannot finish their lunch in the amount of time we are given which causes us to be wasteful.
Since lunch is only thirty minutes, I do not have enough time to finish my lunch. For example, if I
have a sandwich in my lunch, I end up throwing at least half of it into the garbage. Throwing half of
your lunch out is not only wasting the food, but the money you spent. If my dad knew how much of
my lunch I wasted he would not be happy because he is buying my food. Children in Africa don t have
enough food to nourish their bodies, meanwhile we are wasting perfectly good food that could save a

At first the scene is comedic, that is until the man from across the courtyard leaves his house at 2 a.m.
We see Jeff s watch as the man comes in and out of his apartment 3 times. Each time, the audience
watch as Thorwald (the man) carries a large briefcase with him. Long shots and canning are used to
mimic Jeff s gaze as he follows thethorwald s progress. This makes the audience feel suspicious and
confused as to why someone would leave their apartment so many time in one night.
Too keep them a bit distracted, there are also individual scenes going in the other apartments so that
the audience don t have time to dwell on their suspicion. All is dark except for a couple of houses
which also gives the scene as sinister twist since at the start it was colorful but now it is dark and the
camera is not quite focused. Also, the cuts and fades in this scene are very unpredictable and
unsatisfying, because, as we are looking through Jeff s eyes, he constantly falls asleep which then
prevents us from seeing any more of what happens as the scene fades to darkness. The shots are also
unsatisfying because although they are mostly wide shots, we don t quite see every thing we want to
