Alexander s Stand Against Persia
Alexander had taken a stand against Persia in many ways such as avenging Greece for when
Persia had attacked them, to carry out what his father started, to free Greek cities that had been
conquered by Persia, and wanting to spread Greek culture among Asia. Alexander had had the idea
to spread Panhellenic ideas across Asia so he could thus further development of Greece( Infoplease).
It is taking a stand by wanting to create a change in Asia against someone else s power. There
was war 150 years earlier between Persia and Greece called the Persian Wars. Persia had attacked
Greece twice and accomplished in the burning of Athens. Alexander did not want their acts to go
unpunished and also decided to attack them to avenge Greece ( Wars ;LiveScience).... Show more

After Alexander had won the battle of Granicus he went to the city of Gordium. There, he cut
the Gordian knot which said who ever had solved the knot would be king of all of Asia (History
Macedonia). Alexander then learned the Persian army was marching against him once again but
this time with their king Darius (Hunter 23). It is estimated that there were 200,000 Persian
soldiers versus Alexander s 45,000 (Plutarch). Alexander met Darius in the narrow pass of Issus
where Darius could not use his greater numbers effectively (Wasson). Many of Alexander s
soldiers thought it was unwise to attack the greater numbers of the Persian army. Alexander
replied to them by saying On their side, more are standing, on ours, more will fight. Alexander
and his army were able to win the battle by charging straight towards Darius causing him to flee
(LiveScience). Alexander was able to continue his stand down into other countries in the Persian
army, freeing their culture and continuing the spread of hellenism. Darius s army had lost
110,000 men at Issus. Darius did not want Alexander to take his Empire so he tried to bribe him.
He offered Alexander half of his empire and half of his riches for Alexander to stop attacking.
Alexander replied to them by saying, Come to me and thou shalt receive courtesy; but otherwise, I
shall march at once against thee. (Plutarch). This forced there to be another battle as Darius did not
want to give up his empire and Alexander would not stop conquering, a battle that would decide
whether Alexander could finish his stand or if Darius would keep his

Development And Evaluation Of Cognition Based Interventions
PhD upgrade overview In recent years, there has been increasing interest in the development and
evaluation of cognition based interventions (CBIs) for people with dementia in improving
cognition, and quality of life (QoL). However, little is known about the effects of these
interventions for carers who are actively involved and participate in CBIs alongside their relative.
In addition, it has been argued that engaging family carers in the therapeutic process is important
as it has the potential to improve mutual understanding and enhance carer well being. My PhD
research aims to evaluate the effects of carer involvement in CBIs for people with dementia on
carer well being. This report presents the progress my research which comprises... Show more

Chapter five describes a qualitative study which I conducted to explore the experiences and
perspectives of people with dementia and their carers while taking part in the iCST intervention.
Chapter six reports on my personal development and achievements and my PhD progress since
my starting date which was the 29th January 2013. Advancing age remains the single most
important risk factor for developing dementia (Luengo Fernandex, Leal, Gray 2010). It is
estimated that there are currently over 46 million people living with dementia worldwide
(World Alzheimer Report 2015), with a total of 835,000 people living with dementia in the UK
alone (Alzheimer s Society, 2014). Dementia is a major cause of disability for older people
(WHO, Dementia A Public Health Priority 2012). Dementia also remains a greatest challenge
for the society and has a huge economic impact on the health care system, people with dementia
and their families (Dowrick 2014). Alzheimer s disease (AD) is the most common cause of
dementia, accounting for up to 60% of all cases (Burns et al., 2006). AD is an age related
degenerative brain disorder which develops over a period of years, but is not a normal part of
aging (WHO 2015). AD can affect individuals in different ways, but for most people symptoms
begin by experiencing difficulty in remembering new information,

How Does The Roughness Of A Surface Affect The Coefficient...
Discussion Questions: Answer the Testable Question. How does the roughness of a surface affect
the coefficient of static friction and the coefficient of kinetic friction for a block of wood, and how
do these coefficients compare with each other?
From the Results section above, as the roughness of a surface increases, the coefficients of friction
for the block of wood increases. This can be concluded as the surfaces used in order of lowest
roughness to highest roughness were the white surface, wooden surface and lastly the sandpaper
surface had coefficients of friction increasing in the same order. For instance, to compare the
static coefficients of the first trial of each surface in order of roughness, 0.20 0.32. Therefore,
corresponding with the coefficients of static friction, the coefficients of kinetic friction also
increases as the roughness of the surface increases. In conclusion, from the data collected, the
observation was that as the roughness of a surface increases, the coefficient of static friction and
the coefficient of kinetic friction for a block of wood will increase.
In terms of the variables in this experiment, what type of relationship was being tested?
In this experiment, the relationship of the variable force of friction and the coefficient of static and
coefficient of kinetic friction are being tested. From the formula:Ојk=(Ff,k)/Fn, and Ојs=(Ff,s max)
/Fn, the coefficients of friction are equal to the force of friction divided by the normal

AAM is the largest provider of Driveline systems in the United States. AAM has five
manufacturing plants in the United States as well as other plants located in Mexico, Brazil, and
Scotland. AAM also has offices in Europe, Asia, and the Pacific. As a company of this size,

Americans have been ideologically averse to government involvement in their lives, especially in
the world of commerce. The domain of private enterprise. The theory was that firms competed
against other firms in open markets. The Japanese and other cultures have shown that this view of
the world was not only unrealistic, but also a handicap. There are many firms cooperating with one
another and with the government that have emerged to become fierce competitors. Globalization
has clearly enriched the rich in the industrial worlds of Asia, Europe, and North America. At the
same time, it has widened the gap between rich and poor both within and among countries. AAM
started to be globally competitive in 1996, when the plant in Guanajaunto, Mexico was built. AAM
had the vision that to be globally competitive, companies must develop business opportunities
within the country they choose to do business within. AAM has gone on to build plants in Europe
and Brazil. Although some external factors are uncontrollable, innovation is controllable. Today s
ultra competitive automotive marketplace demands superior product, process and systems

Marie Curie s Popular Images
Although Marie Curie was not the first woman to excel in science or mathematics, she can be
considered the first major woman scientist to receive full credit for her scientific work.
Considering her Nobel prizes alone, she is ranked at the top of the scientists of the modern period.
Despite this, somehow Marie Curies popular images, as well as those embedded in some of the
scholarly literature, suggest important, but rather modest contributions to society (Pycior, 301).
Marie Curiewas born Maria Salomea Sklodowska on November 7, 1867, in Poland into a family
that was liberal minded and committed to learning. Both her parents worked in a school setting,
until her farther was forced to resign for political reasons when Marie was young, and her father
converted the family s home into a boarding school. The school Marie attended was important for
young Marie, because the education of women was prohibited under the oppressive Russian
occupation. Her sister and mother died when she was in her adolescence, but all of her other
family members stayed deeply committed to education, and the exceptionally gifted Marie
graduate from high school for girls who had the highest honors only to encounter a nearly
insurmountable obstacle: In Poland, advanced studies were not available for women. Although a
school in France called Sorbonne, accepted women to study at the school. Marie Curie struggled

The Importance Of Executive Order
Trump signs executive order to keep out radical Islamic terrorists In late January 2017, President
Trump signed an executive order banning immigration from seven predominantly islamic countries.
Trump stated that the order is necessary in order to keep radical terrorists out of the United States,
but the main issue regarding this executive order is that many believe that the main cause for it is
based on bigotry and not national security. President Donald Trumpsigned an executive order on
Friday, January 27th which called for the suspension of admission into the United Statesby Syrian
refugees and other refugees. This order would be carried out by extreme vetting of immigrants and
the suspension of the US Refugee Admissions Program... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although the order does not specifically ban Muslims, many claim that it indeed does because the
countries that are affected are predominantly Muslim, and Christians have the upper hand in the
vetting process. Democrats are in shock because of Trump s move, claiming that the executive order
is: just a euphemism for discrimination against Muslims. . All in all, Trump s effort to ensure
greater national security has caused controversy between the American people.
In 1882, the Chinese Exclusion Act was passed by President Chester A. Arthur. This act was passed
in response to economic fears. Many Americans associated unemployment with the Chinese
because they believed that Chinese Immigrants were taking their jobs. This resulted in the first
major law which restricted immigration to the United States. Looking at modern day, one can see
that the muslim ban executive order is very similar to the Chinese Exclusion Act. Both pieces of
legislation were passed in order to protect American interests. As house speaker Paul Ryan said: Our
number one responsibility is to protect the homeland . Although the Chinese Exclusion Act was
passed in order to protect economic interests and

Cyberbullying And Its Impact On Cyberbullying
The article written by Carol M. Walker, Beth Rajan Sockman, and Steven Koehn, An Exploratory
Study of Cyberbullying with Undergraduate University Students delves into their study done on
undergraduate students to address technology and its impact on cyberbullying. Cyberbullying is
defined as, The use of information and communication technologies such as email, cellphones,
instant messaging... to promote deliberate, repeated and hurtful behavior with the intent to harm
others (Tech Trends Journal, Vol. 55, Issue 2, pg. 32). The purpose of this study was to examine
what instances of cyberbullying undergraduate students experience, as well as what forms of
technologyare used in such instances. The questions posed were: What instances of cyberbullying
do undergraduate students experience, and what role does gender play in cyberbullying at the
undergraduate level?, and What forms of technology do undergraduate students use to perpetrate or
receive bullying, and how often does it occur? Some questions that were also addressed were: What
impact does the cellphone have on the interactions of undergraduate students as they maintain their
status according to the Social Dominance theory?, How do social networking sites affect these
students?, and Has the ability to reply instantly, without personal contact, augmented the bullying
scene?
As referenced in this article, there are many instances of previous research on the topics of bullying
and cyberbullying. In the late 1970 s, Dan

The Monetary Value That Represents All Of The Products...
The monetary value that represents all of the products made in a country is Gross Domestic
Product. This figure affects my life right now because the unemployment in the country can be
observed by looking at the gap between the GDP per capita and the GDP per person. I can use
this information because I am seeking a job. Also, in the future, knowledge of the GDP can be
useful because I will want to know my personal productivity compared to the average which is
represented by the GDP per employed person. Additionally, the Consumer Price Indexis a figure that
illustrates the inflationof prices over time. It is determined by the values of the prices of goods that

Furthermore, the Industrial Production and Capacity Utilization are used to predict if inflation will
occur. The industrial production measures how many manufactured goods are produced and the
capacity utilization figure uses this information to create a ratio that determines whether there is a
supply shortage or not. These figures can help me to find out if it is a good time to seek a job in a
particular industry. For instance, right now the capacity utilization rate is at 81.9% in the mining
industry which shows that there is a limited amount of supply, so employment opportunities would
be increased in this field ( Industrial Production ). In the future, I can use this figure to predict if
prices would increase in the field because if there is a limited amount of supply, then prices would
increase.
To add, Retail Sales is an economic indicator that shows the comparison of sales in the retail
industry within a few weeks. It is included in the GDP because the retail sales shows the
productivity shows the majority of sales and production in the overall economy. I can use the
retail sales figure in my life because I can see how the prices in retail will change. Also, in the
future, I can use retail sales to find out if retail is a good industry to invest in. Business Inventories
and Sales is a figure that contributes to determining the overall productivity of the economy. This

in a manner that is compliant with this legislation. 3. Key changes Some of the most important
changes are: i) Handling of personal information Organisations must be able to demonstrate that
people have freely given their consent to the processing of their personal data and The ICO
recommends that this means giving people genuine ongoing choice and control over how their
data is used. Where an organisation processes data belonging to children under 16 years in the
UK (although the age may be as low as 13 in some EU states), then organisations must obtain
parental consent. The legislation introduces the following rights: Right to be informed Right of

Right to object Rights related to automated decision making including profiling Importantly, there
has to be express consent from the data subject before that information can be processed and data
subjects will have the right to withdraw their consent at any time ii) Accessing information held
Organisations are obligated to allow people access to the personal data held about them. This is to
allow them to: a.) be aware of the information held b.) verify the lawfulness of the processing.

Greek Columns And The Doric Order Of Greek Architecture
Greek architecture has survived throughout history and plays a major role in many structures today.
Some of the modern structures that resemble Greek styling and architecture are government
buildings. By building some of our most important structures with Greek designs, it shows our
current emphasis on Greek architecture. There are three distinct orders, or types, of architecture.
These are the Doric, Ionic, and Corinthian orders. Possibly one of the most distinguished aspects
supplied by Greek architecture is the column. Columns were prevalent in Greek society and were
found in many of their temples and important structures such as the Parthenon. The first and most
simplistic order of Greek architecture is the Doric order. According to the article, Doric Columns
and the Doric Order of Classical Architecture, Doric architecture is characterized by columns that
Doric columns are, stouter than those of the Ionic or Corinthian orders. Their smooth, round
capitals are simple and plain compared to the other two Greek orders. The capital is the very top
piece of the column that connects the column to the rest of the structure, or the entablature. Unlike
other orders, Greek Doric columns did not have bases; instead the column was fixed directly on the
foundation of the structure. This simplistic design was implemented on one of the most well
known works of architecture from Ancient Greece, the Parthenon. An article titled, The Parthenon,
describes how the Parthenon is a, Doric

Alienation And Anomie Essay
Both concepts of alienation and anomie signify how individualism has impacted the social
structures through industrialization and the division of labour. Both Marx and Durkheim s theories
emphasize the relationships between people in society and how this impacts on separateness and
individualism within it; however, both theories are different. Where Marx is concerned he focuses
on being alienated as a result of materialized matter through the bourgeoisie alienating oneself from
culture, for Durkheim anomie is due to the lack of a collective conscience within society
preventing both regulation and integration of culture; for Durkheim this negatively impacts on
social solidarity and cohesion. Alienation occurred after the periods of slavery and serfdom arose a
capitalist society, workers selling their labour skills in order to earn a living wage. In comparison to
feudal societies where wealth was inherited, capitalist societies through the bourgeoisie was about
owning the means of production enabling them to own private property and this being wealth.
However, the cost price of the goods produced was significantly higher than the labourer s wages
resulting in a profit for the bourgeoisie, this being the method of attaining wealth. The capitalist
mode of production generates its wealth through exploitation of the proletariat. Karl Marx (1970)
stated ...the accumulation of wealth at one pole of society involves a simultaneous accumulation of
poverty, labour torment, slavery,

Staying Healthy In Middle Adulthood
Middle adulthood is a time of both gains and losses. The span of middle adulthood is from forty
to sixty years of age, it can be defined as chronologically, contextually, or biologically. Most
middle age people are in good physical, cognitive, and emotional condition. Staying healthy is
very important or middle age adults. Eating healthy is also a very important factor. I think
vitamins are good for the body; they are great supplements that make up for all the protein the
body is not receiving. As the body age blood pressure starts to rise and chances are increased for
having a stroke or a heart attack. Eating fruits and vegetables helps decrease these chances. Eating
broccoli, baked potatoes, bananas, and other foods with skin is a great

The Consequences of Eating from the Tree of Knowledge Essay
The purpose of this study will be to examine the specific fulfillment of the consequences contained
in the warning against eating of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Before we look at that
fulfillment, it will be beneficial to note the specifics of the promise.
THE PROMISE OF DEATH
The promise seems to be quite clear as God tells Adam and Eve, in the day that you eat from it you
will surely die (Genesis 2:17). The Hebrew text literally says, dying, you will die (tWmT tAm),
though we should understand this, not as speaking of two deaths, but as a Hebraic figure of speech
indicating the certainty of that which is promised. The translators of the NAS capture this idea
when they render it, You will surely die.
Not only is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He does this because it is very evident in the subsequent chapter that when Adam and Eve ate of
the forbidden fruit, they did not immediately fall down and die. Instead we read in Genesis 5
how they continued to live what seems to have been long lives. We are not told this in the case of
Eve, but we read of Adam living to an advanced old age of 930 years.
This brings us to the crux of our problem. It is a problem between promise and fulfillment. The
promise from God was that eating would lead to death on that very day. The fulfillment as
recorded in Genesis 3 5 sees physical death taking place only after a very long period of many
hundreds of years. The question of how we are to reconcile the difference between the promise and
the fulfillment has brought forth a variety of interpretations..
One can understand the temptation to explain away this seeming contradiction by reinterpreting
the promise of death as referring only to spiritual death. But does this particular passage support
or even allow such an interpretation? When we look into Genesis 4 and 5, each of the many
references to death refer to physical death. Cain kills Abel and is subsequently afraid that
someone will find him and kill him. Lamech kills a young man and writes a song to boast of the
fact. Throughout the lengthy genealogy of Genesis 5, we hear the constant refrain, And he died,
and we understand each of these references to speak of physical death. Nor does

Bean Cattle Lab Report
Introduction
The bean beetle, or Callosobruchus Maculatus, is a pest native to Africa and Asia. Female bean
beetles reproduce by laying eggs beans, and then the larva from the egg will burrow into the bean.
Generally, bean beetles infest the cowpea species, which include black eyed peas, adzuki beans,
and mung beans, most often. For the purpose of this experiment, we used mung beans. The goal
was to prove that female bean beetles prefer full sized mung beans over half sized mung beans.
From this experiment we hoped to observe bean beetles, and gain more knowledge on their bean
preferences. This experiment is designed in a way that the female bean beetles must choose
between the two sizes. This information is beneficial to

Pros And Cons Of Banning The Headscarf
Should the headscarf be banned? Recently there has been a push towards banning religious
symbolism from the media, especially the hijab. The hijab is a veil that Muslim women wear
around their heads to cover their hair and their bosoms; it symbolizes faith and modesty. Many
people fear or in some cases feel bad for people who wear the headscarf including niqabs and
burqas because they are uneducated and/or ignorant of Islamic teachings which lead them to create
inaccurate assumptions and accusations on the matter. Most may believe banning the headscarf
will benefit the community in ways that they believe will make people feel more comfortable and
they also believe that it will benefit the women who wear the hijab because of the belief that
Muslim women who wear the headscarf are oppressed, however, banning the headscarf would lead
to the contradiction of Canadian values, discrimination, and go against the religious beliefs of
Muslims. The prohibition of the headscarf would go against Canadian values. When Steven Harper
was Prime Minister, he wanted to ban the niqab, a cloth that covers the face, for citizens who work
for the government and Around 82 percent of Canadians [supported] the niqab ban, ( Trudeau s
Gutsy Post Victory Speech Shatters Stereotypes ). Having most of the population supporting this
decision is relatively disappointing knowing it contradicts the significance of Canadian society,
since Canada is acknowledged for its multiculturalism and diversity.

Hurricane Katrina Effects
The calamitous natural phenomenon known as Hurricane Katrina brought terrible side effects to
lower class African Americans. A catastrophe like Hurricane Katrina changed the lives of the
lower class African Americans forever because of the devastation from several effects. People
today are more prepared for a natural disasterbecause Hurricane Katrinawas one of the strongest
storms to hit the United States coast within the last 100 years in New Orleans (Brianna Frank).
Most of these ramifications of Hurricane Katrina came from the phycological, economic and
medical effects due to this natural disaster,
Hurricane Katrina has plagued both lower class African Americanadults and their children due to
the phycological effects. The repercussions of Hurricane Katrina had an everlasting effect on the
lives of most adult victims. Many adults were at risk for being diagnosed with Post Traumatic
Stress Disorder. This was defined in an article as, an anxiety disorder that can develop after a
person has experienced an ordeal that poses severe physical harm (Hurricane Katrina). A natural
disaster like Hurricane Katrina would have been a primary trigger for causing Post Traumatic
Stress Disorder. Unfortunately, the realization of this disease was that most adults effected would
never be able to feel safe again. On the other hand, the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina on the lives
of the innocent children was also just as devastating. Many children were at the risk of developing
a disease called Serious Emotional Disturbance. This disease would have been caused by a
traumatizing event. An example of this was Hurricane Katrina. The outcome would have caused
severe stress on mainly the effected children. In their future, this disease would challenge the
children s thinking and problem coping difficulties. As discussed in one article, children with SED
are not able to cope with their peers or their environment (Hurricane Katrina). Hurricane Katrina
bedeviled the uneducated lower class African Americans as well as the low income families. Many
lower class African American families were already extremely poor prior to the destruction of
Hurricane Katrina. These people were without adequate transportation to escape the

Having fled to America during the nationwide conflict known as the Troubles, he is nervous

is how it gets the audience to connect to the characters in such a short amount of time. Despite
not being a feature length motion picture, the story fleshes out all the characters, their
backstories, and their personalities. After hearing the history of Jim, Paddy, and Mary, you
genuinely look forward to their reunion, and hope that they can reconcile with each other. The
story is helped by having an extremely talented cast. All the actors have great chemistry with
each other, making the interactions between characters seem charming and relatable. Hill is
especially entertaining, being able to pull off comedic scenes at some points, as well as the more
sentimental scenes at others. The Shore is one of those movies that is bound to leave you with a

As Choi and Meek exemplify, transfers between related business units represent 60 percent of all
international trades (Choi amp; Meek, p. 448). Thus, one can start to understand how important it
is to define accurate transfer prices. As mentioned, the globalization of markets and the rapid
development of communication systems have increased the presence of trades between companies
under common control. However, other factors have also helped highlight the subject. Factors like
the increase of service provided within MNE s, the continuous trading activity and the use of
financial instruments have increased the amount of trade between associated parties. Political
forces have also assisted in the development of transfer pricing regulations, especially now during
this economic crisis as governments try to increase their income through tax collection. For
example, a parent company could pay less income tax in the US by determining a higher transfer
price from the product it purchases from its subsidiary located in China. Since China s corporate
income tax is 25% and the US tax rate is 35%, this arrangement would generate a higher income at
the subsidiary in China and less overall income tax payment for the financial group in question.
Nevertheless, such arrangements can be prevented by tax authorities in the US, since according to
Section 482 of the Internal Revenue Code the Secretary may distribute, apportion, or allocate gross
income, deductions, credits, or

Pediatrics is a medical field that deals with the medical care to babies, children, adolescents, and
young adults who are acutely or chronically ill. Pediatricians diagnose their patients with the
illness and written prescriptions. Pediatrics was first developed in 1948 when editor Hugh
McCulloch made a journal of the vision and objectives of the field. He intended that this field
would specialize in physiology, mental, emotional, and social structure of a child. In 1948 Dr.
John Enders, Drs. Thomas H. Weller, and Dr. Frederick C. Robbin studied and tested the
poliovirus on tissue. They soon successfully grew poliovirus in tissue culture. In 1952 Dr. Roland
Scott was the very first African American Pediatrician was elected to the APS. Dr.

The Namesake Film Analysis
At the start of the film, Ashoke and Ashima leave India for America and their life together
begins. The move from the big city of Calcutta to the big city of New York is much lonelier
because they have no family nearby and the land is unfamiliar. The climate is also different, it is
winter time and the weather is cold. Ashima is learning very quickly that the living conditions are
different. Ashoke explains to her that they have gas twenty four hours a day, and the difference
between hot and cold water symbols. Also there was no need for her to boil the water for drinking;
she could just drink straight from the tap. Life in America is different and at times lonely, however
Ashoke believes it s the land of opportunity. When Ashima... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The clashes are both cultural and generation based. Teenagers in any culture choose not to listen to
their parents, and play loud music as Gogol did in the movie. The Ganguli home is often filled
with Bengali family and friends, and that provides a support system for Ashoke and Ashima. It
makes the Ganguli s feel like they did when they were in India, surrounded by family. Gogol
receives some advice from his aunt before leaving for college. She tells him to have fun, but
come home and marry a Bengali woman. After Gogol leaves home, he meets Maxine who is
American in every sense of the word. She is in the upper social class, and Gogol is attracted to
her family because they are American. They call Gogol, Nick short for Nikhil. He distances
himself from his parents by not returning phones calls, and upsets Ashima when he would rather
visit Maxine s parents than his own. Gogol does decide to stop at his parents on the way to visit
Maxine s, out of possible guilt for not keeping in touch. Gogol introduces Maxine, and she calls
Ashima by her first name. It s apparent that is not the respectful introduction Ashima would have
preferred. Again, a clash in cultures, and what s considered appropriate. Gogol and Maxine leave,
and Maxine states she would ve never guessed those were his parents. Gogol celebrates his birthday

Prolonged Exposure Therapy
It is a beautiful, sunny day in Miami, Florida. The birds are chirping, and the fresh ocean breeze
is rustling the leaves. Steve Weston is trying to make the most out of this hot, summer day. He
spots a moving truck outside his window. A young girl with dark hair and bright yellow glasses
and what appears to be her father get out of the truck and go into the house next door. Steve was
not expecting new neighbors so soon. All of the sudden, Steve hears loud banging noises, one after
the other after the other. To others that is the soundof a nail gun going off, but to him that is the
sound of the bullets firing from an M240 machine gun. He is transported to the battlefield where he

Developed by Edna Foa, prolonged exposure therapy exposes patients to their traumatic event over
and over again while being in a safe place (Blankenship 277). Although prolonged exposure therapy
is one treatment it has four main elements including education, breathing retraining, in vivo
exposure, and imaginal exposure. Education consists of learning about the treatment, treatment
symptoms, and goals of the treatment. Breathing retraining helps patients to relax and calm
themselves when they become anxious. In vivo exposure allows patients with PTSD to be put in
real life situations that they are not comfortable with due to the trauma they have faced. Lastly,
imaginal exposure allows the patients with post traumatic stress disorder to talk through their
traumatic event while it is recorded. After repeatedly talking through their event, the patient then
listens to what they have said (Swan 28). Prolonged exposure therapy occurs over eight to fifteen
sessions. Each session can range from 60 to 90 minutes depending on the patient and their specific
needs (Blankenship 278). This treatment helps patients with post traumatic stress disorder by
allowing them to face their fears associated with the traumatic event and gain control over their
emotions (Swan 28). Prolonged exposure therapy is proven to be a very effective therapy and is
highly supported for the use of treating PTSD (Blankenship

Swimming To Antarctica Summary
Swimming to Antarctica is a story about how Lynne Cox attempt to complete the grueling swim.
Lynne s goal to finish the swim is motivated by her effort, determination and bravery. Can Lynne
overcome her difficulties and finish the swim, or will she let it all slip away?
Lynne will be doing a mile long swim in the freezing, thirty two degree water. That is the
temperature when fresh water freezes. If Lynne s cells froze, then the body tissue could result in a
permanent life threatening situation. In Lynne s cabin she questioned herself, Would my core
temperature drop faster? , Would i be able to tell if I was in immediate danger? . Did she really want
to take such a risk, one part of her wanted it and another did not. The next morning Lynne walked
down to the ship s library and drank four eight ounce cups of hot water, and ate two small
croissants for breakfast. The reason she ate and drank these is because they are high in fat and
carbohydrates. Swimmers need these because the water is so cold the layer of fat would help
keep her warm. Gabriella came in to take a core temperature, it was about 100.4 degrees. This
was higher than usual, because she was so psyched. She rubbed sunscreen on her face, but none
on her arms and legs because she would be slippery if the crew needed to pull her out of the
water in an emergency. Before Lynne stepped out onto the ramp Dr. Block traced two veins in her
arm with a blue marker, it was just a precaution in case of an emergency. Though

Economic Benefits Of Globalization
Globalized cities act as connections between nations around the world, thereby creating the
international economy and fostering the development of impoverished nations by increasing the
mobility of capital and jobs. The mobility of capital and labor can be beneficial to international
corporations that are capable of taking advantage of international business opportunities. This aspect
of globalizationcan encourage the movement of the operations of large corporations to developing
areas that are in need of investment. While the movement of those corporations into developing
countries can be beneficial to the region as a whole, globalization does not always affect all
members of a population equally. Certain populations still struggle to find adequate housing,
employment opportunities, and healthcare despite the overall economic development in their city.
To maximize the benefits of globalization, it is also essential that city officials understand the
importance of creating a cohesive vision to guide the growth of an aspiring global city. The Meta
Theme laborand capital describes how globalization has increased the mobility of funds and jobs
due to the ease of transporting goods and exchanging information internationally. Capital
investments are essential to the development of cities. Even with an effective plan in place, the
development of a city is not possible without investment in infrastructure. Additionally, the mobility
of jobs made possible by globalization has

The Quantum Relativistic Mess
Introduction String theory is one of the most active theoretical frameworks in particle physics that
is used in an attempt to successfully reconcile general relativity and quantum mechanics. This
concept is a great contender of quantum relativity mess theory, string theory and the theory of
everything. In this essay, we visit these theories and provide a general view or opinion on the
future of physics. The new form of physical theory Through out history, several changes have
taken place in physics with the governing equations and fundamental principles being developed
by several scientists in a view of understanding the way our universe works or even created. The
evolution of physics from relying on the Newtonian Model, to gravity and currently to string
theory means that discoveries in particle physics are still ongoing in an effort to reconcile general
relativity and quantum mechanics. The Quantum Relativistic Mess According to Mohamed (2009)
the existing current standard model of physics suffers a major fundamental flaw. It is in fact made
up of two completely separate theories; the theory of Quantum Mechanics and the theory of
General Relativity. When applied in their various extremities, both theories are noted by Mohamed
(2009) to provide fairly accurate and sensible predictions. The theory of General Relativity is noted
to work best when applied in the prediction of the phenomena that is associated closely with large
celestial bodies while Quantum Mechanics only

The Issue Of American Patriotism
Nationalism and patriotism is a very touchy subject for some people just due to the fact of
everyone having their own opinion on what it means. Some people just do not know the
difference between the two, or just don t know if there even is a difference. They are very often
commonly confused as the same thing and I can see why at first glance, but after searching this
subject on many credible sources I have come to find many clarifying and interesting facts on this
particular topic.
First of all, the actual definition of American patriotism is the pride and devotion to one s
homeland. As everything does, there are pros and cons to being a patriot. For example, a pro
would be that it leads us to feel proud of and for our county. That ... Show more content on

Unless your knowledge is of a universal type, equally useful and valued anywhere; then it makes
no difference where you live, as long as you enjoy your life. Another being specialization;
patriotism instinctively guides citizens to discover their natural and cultural specialties: their own
resources, traditions, industries, and identity that has existed for ages. They will not imitate or
copy another country blindly. Loving a place makes one automatically love, learn, cherish, and
improve the special qualities about it/them. A couple of the others are commitment and security.
Most cons of patriotism fall under the category of centralization being harmful. They claim that
the benefits enjoyed by centralized countries will eventually be shared by everyone worldwide.
They say that it is not a big problem to desert some countries as long as citizens are happy and
successful elsewhere. They also claim that in over populated countries, or those with high
unemployment rates, its better when people leave. I do not neccesarily agree with all of this but I
do think the majority of the claims made are true.
Nationalism has two definitions that basically mean the same thing but one is more easily
understood. The more complicated version saying that

What Is Lyra s Journey Of Growing Up
Growing up isn t as easy as it seems, it s a very difficult process that we go through in our life.
Like from the novel Northern Lights by the author Philip Pullman, Lyra became her own
individual once she went against her mother and said no to the separation she wasn t as innocent
as we would had thought. All children grow up but some people as they get older they grow
apart from their inner self, from who they really are either to fit in to or for religious reasons.
Like Lyra s mom who was so distant from her soul (daemon), she grew to be an alien and
stranger to herself, she didn t actually reach adulthood as an individual. While on the other hand,
Lyra developed at a very young age and became more mature than her own parents. Her
cleverness and disobedient character and her insistence on becoming something gave her the
chance to mature. To grow up isn t just a physical change in appearance, it s more of a mental
and spiritual growth. Just like what we noticed between Lyra and her mom in the book Northern
Lights that was about the journey of growing up and how some adults never do. This paper will

She didn t accept her mother s choices and actions so she had to find her own path in life. Her
mom was not a responsible adult so Lyra could not allow herself to be like her. The only reason
Lyra had to be disobedient was because of her parents beliefs, she couldn t accept the separation
and what they were doing to the children. To her the way they treated children was pure cruelty. A
lot of critics said that Pullman was against religion and he was encouraging children to disobey
their parents. But he wasn t. He was actually trying to help people think about who they really are
and stop pretending to be something they are not, and he wanted to encourage children to follow

The Importance Of Culture In Language Learning
In The Importance of Culture in Language Learning written by Bill Zart(n.d.)says trying to avoid
the culture of a language is actually rather hard to do if you study a language to a thorough level
and interact with its speakers. Each language carries with it all of the history and culture of the area
that it arises from. Truly, in language learning, the cultureexists in everywhere either in history or
political or even local customs. In the same way, to assimilate in another culture, language is also a
good tool to achieve that. Just think, if one cannot even communicate with local people or read the
words on their books, then he or she can barely say they can get into this culture deeply. Successful
assimilationto another culture requires people not only to learn their own language, but experience
local culture and customs, and even define own personal identity.
Learning a new language is the key to integrating into another culture. From the article by Taylor
(2017) pointed out that language is a unique symbol of a country, and most of people in each
country only speak in a single voice. For example, In Netherlands, nearly eighty four percent of the
population firmly believes that learn to speak Dutch is very necessary if you really want to be a
Dutch (para.4) In fact, learning a new language can better communicate with local people and
receive information more quickly and accurately. When people master a language, they can get a
better understanding of the culture in a new country. Therefore, learning a language is the first step
and even is the most joint step of assimilating into another culture.
Experiencing the local culture and customs is one of the most important tasks to successfully
assimilate into another culture. The author of the article The melting point and the salad bowl
(n.d.) points out that the characteristic of successful assimilation into another culture is to live as a
native. Then, from the two most basic aspects, one is food culture, and the other is historical
culture. First, three meals per day are essential to people s daily life. Everyone knows that different
place has different food culture. If a person wants to successfully assimilate into a new culture, the
person should

were either born a boy, or a girl. I just think that you should not be born one thing and then change
into something totally different. Also, have your rights and get a bathroom to where anyone could
use it. It s wrong because someone could say they are transgender, even if they aren t, and then they

The country of Netherlands is lowland and a lot of it is water. The size of Netherlands is 41,526
square kilometers. The highest point there is Vaalserberg and is 321 meters (Amsterdam guide,

better. The climate in Netherlands is mild (Amsterdam guide, 2003).
Netherlands wanted independence in 1581 but didn t get it until 1648 (Amsterdam guide, 2003).
They lost it then in 1794 by the Austrian Throne of Habsburg (Amsterdam guide, 2003). In 1830,

Comparing Apes And Orangutans
Gorillas, chimpanzees, and orangutans are all types of apes. Apes are fascinating because of the
way they act, look, and live. However, some think the most interesting thing about apes is how
similar they are to people.
Apes and humans are remarkably alike. In fact, apes are humansГ• closest living relatives.
Humans share about 98 percent of their genetic material with chimps. Humans and apes also share
some of the same blood types. Humans can have types A, B, and O. Gorillas have type B and
chimps have types A or O.
Apes and humans are built similarly, too. The bones in their chests and shoulders are very close to
a humanГ•s. They also have human shaped hands, fingers, and brains. In fact, one part of the ape

The Stress and Reward of Returning to School Essay
When I decided to return to school after a fourteen year break, a lot of stressors became apparent
in my life. The first known stressor that affected the added task of returning to school was work.
Being that I tend to be very busy at the work place and sometime bring work home with me, it
took a toll on me rather fast. The second stressor was trying to take care of the household. Trying
to find time in between cooking, cleaning, washing, and school assignments had me running
around like a chicken without a head . The third was being a single parent and adding another
task into my already busy life. My children also had to be tended to with their homework, sports,

It was a tough daily job of having to be able to sit at my desk or even in bed to hammer out some
school work but I was determined and toughed it out. There were a lot of limitations to what I
can do physically, so I made it a point to limit my time of sitting, typing, or thinking of school for
that matter. My surgeries and limitations became the least of my trouble for timing what or how
much I can do. What took me away for awhile, was the medications I had to take in order to deal
with the pain. Most of the medications would either make me sick where I could not function or
send me straight to sleep for hours. This had me in a bind being that I had already worked out a
schedule for everything in an organized plan. I managed to talk with the doctors who insisted
for me to stay on the regiment of medication they prescribed but at the end gave me their
minimum requirements they could recommend. As long as I agreed, I would tell them when I
when something didn t feel right and took full dosages when I could. This helped me to
overcome my dilemma and allowed me to continue to work my school schedule. Although there
were many stressors in my life while returning to school, I found that there was a great advantage
and a more rewarding future because of it. For example, now that I m back in school and doing
well, my children look up to me as more of a role model. They see, that no matter my medical

Moving The Nfl Into Europe
Moving the NFL to Europe
Max Price
California Lutheran University
ABSTRACT This paper will touch on the topic of the NFL moving to Europe, more specifically
full time. There will be numerous implications of moving a team to London to compete, and
with that comes many risks and difficulties to overcome. More specifically, The NFL would have
to figure out a completely new scheduling system in order to give fair opportunity to all teams in
the NFL. Furthermore there are complications of sending a team to London (pulling it from an
NFL fan base) or creating a new franchise to kick start the NFL taking over the European market,
giving the people a team to build around. The full support given by the European people is
overwhelming with only a few games being played in Europe each year.
The National Football League (NFL) is looking to expand its brand name. As American fans and
statistics will clearly show, football is far and away the most popular sport in the states. The
National Football League is looking to expand it s fanbase and globalization within the NFL can
create steady growth for the sport. More specifically, the NFL is looking to move to Europe. The
NFL league officials have been pushing hard for a full time franchise to relocate into the European
Market, becoming the first NFL franchise to call the city of London home. NFL fans, however, are
not too happy about the idea of moving a popular American sport to a country and community that
is difficult to

The Portrayal Of Women In Young Goodman Brown
Gothic fiction portrays women as a way of manipulating the plot to be different than assumed. It
also shows women as a weakness set up for something bad to happen. It shows how women often

Bismark and German Terrority Expansion
In the fifteenth century there is also evidence of individual financial gain motivating territorial
expansion. The death of the Duke of Bedford must be understood as a big reason for the
Burgudian changing sides during Hundred the Wars. As Anne Curry points out from the
Burgudian perspective, Events following Bedford s death proved more difficult to deal with
(Curry, A. (2003), on A200 website, p.3). His death resulted loss of a strong leader English leader.
However, probably more important, as Bedford was married to Philip the Goods Sister Anne, the
family connection had been lost. Shortly after, in October 1435 Philip the Good signed the
Treaty of Arras and alliance, which ended a long rivalry, with the Armagnac s. It is clear Philip
the Good benefitted from this deal. The Treaty of Arras resulted in some French lands being
given to Philip the Good. In addition, he acquired greater power in these lands. As an extract
from the Treaty of Arras tells us, Philip was not required to do faith, homage, nor service to the
king for lands and lordships (Anthology, 2007, 1.12, p.34). So, with Philip not having to pay for
his new territories, it is highly likely the taxes paid in this French lands increased Philip the
Good s wealth considerably. Philip the Good probably believed once Duke of Bedford had died
he had no moral obligation to maintain the Burgundian alliance with England. As French had won

Abstract:
Psoriasis is a disease of chronic systemic inflammation that involves not only the skin, but also

most patients, NAFLD does not progress beyond simple steatosis, it may progress to Non
Alcoholic Steato Hepatitis (NASH). The prevalence of NASH also correlates with obesity, with
waist to hip ratio and abdominal obesity reported to be predictors of NASH. Diagnosing patients
with NAFLD and identifying those with NASH is challenging, as they are generally asymptomatic.

Siddhartha s Spiritual Journey Essay examples
From the river of life where Siddhartha learns the unity of all things, he takes himself back to the
river he once crossed, and falls into a deep sleep that reawakens him to the world. Throughout the
novel, Siddhartha travels to find spiritual meanings in his life as he deals with the Samanas,
Gotama Buddha, the Kamala and the ferryman. From different events that happen to him physically
and mentally, Siddhartha realizes what he is set out to do. After his father tells Siddhartha that he
may join the Samanas if he wishes, Siddhartha searches for the three stages on his journey to
enlightenment that are the stage of the mind, the stage of the flesh, and the stage of transcendence.

Crying from the death of Kamala, Siddhartha saw in his dream that the bird was dead, just as all
that was good in had died during his time living the life of a rich person. As Siddhartha realizes
life has many meanings when he Siddhartha continued down the road until he met Vasudeva by
the ferry again; the stage of transcendence begins. In the river, Siddhartha sees images come
together, just as he hears voices come together. He saw that the water continually flowed and
flowed and yet it was always there, it was always the same and yet every moment it was new.
(135) More years passed and Siddhartha learned many more secrets from the river. Siddhartha
and his son who left the river and headed back to the town (126) where Siddhartha s life began.

the stage of the flesh, and the stage of transcendence, but he overcame them so well that he
eventually achieved a great peace inside of him. Siddhartha lives with himself and life, and is able
to completely experience what the meaning of life really meant. Also he experiences enlightenment
by accomplishing his goals. He is an example for people to follow through the rigorous course of

This Way For The Gas, Ladies And Gentlemen By Tadeusz...
The Truth Within the Fiction
It is the camp law: people going to their death must be deceived to the very end, This is the only
permissible form of charity.
This quote was pulled from a segment of the short story, This Way for the Gas, Ladies and
Gentlemen. Alone, it is merely just a few disturbing words that may give the warm hearted reader
some shivers. But behind these words is a detailed narrative of one day within the gruesome,
horrific, violent, Nazi concentration camps; that would give even a cold hearted reader shivers.
Tadeusz Borowski, the author of this fictional short story, uses his experiences from being held in a
Nazi ran concentration camp, to deliver a detailed first person narrative of what transpired in Nazi
Germany. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We are introduced to this on both page 36 and 37 when the reader sees the S.S officer
demanding order. On the last paragraph of 36 we see the S.S officer talking to the Canada men

property? Understood? Verstanden? Borowski intentionally leaving the German spelling of

Nazi Germany. This is seen throughout the story when 1st person dialog is being used, really
allowing the reader to feel as if they are being ordered in the moment and adding more suspense
to the command. However, the most powerful dialog comes between the narrator and an income
prisoner. As a prisoner is getting off the train he timidly asks Borowski s narrator, Sir, what s
going to happen to us? This is when he lies and says, ...I don t know, I don t understand Polish.
The reader then learns that man will be executed when the lines, It is the camp law: people going

Reflection On Eldridge Street
Cultural Event Reflection At Eldridge Street, in a museum, I learned that between 1880 and
1924, two and a half million East European Jews came to the United States. Jewish immigrants
sought the United States as a place for refuge and freedom. Close to 85 percent of them came to
New York City, and approximately 75 percent of those settled on the Lower East Side. The
Eldridge Street Synagogue opened it doors at 12 Eldridge Street on September 4, 1887, just in time
for the Jewish High Holidays. The Rosh Hashanah (the Jewish New Year) and Yom Kippur (the Day
of Atonement) occupy three days only, lying within a web of liturgy and customs that extend from
the beginning of the preceding Hebrew month Elul through Yom Kippur. The focus of the entire

Spain Has A Free Market Economy
Spain has a free market economy like a great number of developed countries, however, its
employment laws and regulations have caused its economy to sputter and remain weak when
compared to its European and American counterparts. Most Spanish companies will have written
employment contracts, even though not required, for its workers. Working hours within Spainare
closely monitored and must not exceed an annual average of 40 hours per week, with 80
maximum hours of overtime per year. Holiday and leave time in Spain is considered very
generous; maternity leave is a minimum of 16 weeks and there cannot be less than 30 calendar
holidays per year. Minimum wagein Spain is just above the European average of 712 euro per
month. However, Spain has struggled with unemployment over the past several decades and has
hovered around 20 25 percent over the last 5 years. A great deal of Spain s economic and
employment issues can be traced back to its dictatorship which ended in 1975, the country is still
feeling the effects of the strict workforce regulations, such as a ban on unions, that were in place
at the time. Expatriates are welcome to work in Spain but will face difficult work permit
procedures and fierce competition from Spaniards who are out of work. A positive aspect of
employment law in Spain is the comprehensive anti discriminatory regulations that apply to both
Spanish and foreign nationals.

Nutrition Case Study Scenarios
What is the issue or problem? Joseph, and his team members, are trying to develop an educational
and action program to teach rural Cambodians about the importance of infant and child nutrition.
While his team has been in Cambodia they have learned that the mothers of infants and children
understand the importance of feeding their children properly and have a desire to learn how to do
so. Joseph and his team also learn that the mothers are not the ones who feed their kids, the
grandmothers and aunts do that while the mother works.
What are the strengths of the case study? Joseph and his group really got involved in the community
to discover the feeding practices. They observed and interact with the community and did not just

This case study is a big pill to swallow, especially as I personally have no experience in this area.
First, I would involve my teachers in the development of an action plan as well as the educational
plan. I would explore the option of seeking community business sponsorship. The people who live
in the community work at these places and the businesses are benefiting from the program, the
workers are able to contribute more when they can read and speak the local language. I would ask
that my teachers and students go out and seek people that speak Spanish as well as English to
maybe help translate. The teachers that I have that know how to teach English as a second
language can help conduct sessions to teach the other educators the techniques. I would ask the
Spanish students if they would mind having a Spanish night, show the community their culture and
try to get rid of the stigmas that come along with people who come from Mexico and Central

Merchandising For A Startup Business
Merchandising for a startup business means presenting a product brand in a retail outlet of a
shopping center or mall by displaying to stimulate interest must be complete with a product
design, packaging, pricing, etc. Selling products through internet commerce means a company
must also account for shipping, returns and often repairs of products. A product appearing in a
store front window for consumers is best for business during the Christmas season so keeping
stocked on important items is very important while certain products are only marketed to a very
specific audience the advertising you create must target these certain individuals. A great portion
of market advertising is to promote toward your user like advertising a kids toy to a parent for the
kid since a kid is usually too young to purchase.
The day after thanksgiving is a very significant holiday for retail stores to sell their products being
it is the biggest shopping day in the entire year. This one day provides discounts along with many
clearance items to shoppers and usually about the time Christmas holiday decorations start going
up. Chains of brand franchise stores try their hardest to out do other competing brands during
this season in this time of year in places like big cities of New York or Miami. In the summer time
children are out of school and day cares or camps for children are most likely to receive their
business so parents are able to tend to their work schedules to support the family.

Rituals of the Nacirema
The rituals of the Nacirema To most of us, hospitals are a place to help you when you re in need
or want to get healthy. But for the Nacirema, it s quite the opposite. According to the Nacirema
ritual article, they call hospitals a latipso, which is hospital spelt backwards without the H . They
discuss and caricature the repulsive viewings on what they think goes on in hospitals (latipso s),
or what they think they do. I will now tell you how in Miner s perspective, the body is ugly and
how the body is dirty. In the Nacirema point of view this is how they see hospitals. In the Nacirema
ritual article they call the people who dehumanize other people medicine men. The medicine men

Almost everyone goes through this at some point of their lives, and you are not judged or
discriminated upon. When you are very sick and unable to take care of yourself and can t do
things on your own, it is the nurse s job to take care of you. The nurses use a thermometer to
check their patient s temperature and give them food to help them heal and recover. On the
other hand, when doctors need to cure you or prevent you from a disease or illness, they insert
needles to cure that disease, or make you immune to it to help you stay healthy. The reason all
the Nacirema assumptions seem bizarre to us is because hospitals aren t that extreme, or don t
seem that way to us. People strip their clothes and lather their bodies with a greasy like
substance. They then lay in a bright spaceship for a little bit while the spaceship cooks them
until people are golden brown, or burnt. But that s not the only thing they do that s strange.
They pour on their bodies a sticky honey like paste, and cover themselves with a sheet. The sheet is
then ripped off of the people, tearing off a layer of skin which makes blood spill out, and you look
as red as a tomato. These examples can be related to the two tenets of how the body is ugly, and
dirty. The body is ugly because people look like disgustingly brown and red bloody creatures,
which are mentally deranged. The body is dirty

Organizing A Fundraising Event At The South And City...
Introduction
This report evaluates my own experience working within a team to organise a fundraising event at
the South and City College Enterprise Day. We were aimed to raise money for Teenager Cancer
Trust by selling handmade crafts. Below, I am going to reflect about my own experience and about
how the team worked together to achieve our goals. Team roles and problem solving techniques
will be evaluated and suggestions for improvement will be given as we have now learned from this
experience.
1. Team roles
Everyone in the team adopted different roles according to their skills and personalities. The
roles we played were not agreed by them team but just came according to each one s abilities.
The team had functional diversity, that is, different skills that put together allowed the team to
achieve its goals (West, 2012). This also provided the team with different ideas to share and
achieve the best outcomes (Sohmen, 2013). One member of the team was a resource investigator
(Belbin, 1991 2006). She creates contacts during the fair and explored new selling opportunities,
engaging people to come to the table. Another team member was more teamwork (Belbin, 1991
2006) being diplomatic and finding ways to make people agree to each other. The team also had a
sharper member (Belbin, 1991 2006) that challenged the team ideas. She was helpful to improve
and polish the team decisions, however it lead into some arguments with other team members. One
team member played the role of

reasonable accommodation, or if such accommodation will create a hardship to the company.
Anyone seeking accommodation has to contact the Human Resource department in order to place

According to the employee handbook of my employer, the company provides benefits as well as
services to all the employees, which are injured while on the job. These are in line with the
OSHA rule. The benefits given always aim at helping these employees return to their work
quickly. The company covers all the costs of the medical aid, which is required because of the
workplace injuries or illness. These may include the hospital care, medication, medical, and surgery.
The benefits in such cases will include allowances for home maintenance and self care, medical
examination, hospital expenses, clothing, among other health related benefits. In case the accident
is fatal, the company covers part of the expenses incurred during burial, cremation, as well as the
memorial services. In addition, eligible dependants of the deceased employee will be compensated.

The Arizona v. Fulminante Case
The center of a circle can never be located with only one line running through the shape. There

Analogously, the murderer of a case can never be indicted with only one piece of evidence pointing
at them. There must be multiples indications, each one making it more clear who the murderer is.
When Oreste Fulminante confessed to the first degree murderof his stepdaughter, Jeneane

since his confession was coerced , the Supreme Court decided to retry Fulminante s case without the

The constitutional issue later appealed to the United States Supreme Court, where they discussed
the case s two separate issues, a voluntariness issue regarding a confession and a harmless error
issue, as stated by Mr. Jarrett during the trial at the United States Supreme Court ( Arizona v.
Fulminante. Oyez.org ). In Arizona v. Fulminante, the Supreme Court voted 5 to 4 to uphold the
Arizona Supreme Court s decision: Fulminante would receive a new trial and the confession would
not be allowed; this would be for future law reference. The Supreme Court, profoundly, ruled that a
coerced confession could not account as evidence against the person being tried ( Arizona v.
Fulminante . Lawschool). Arizona v. Fulminante was one of the few cases in law history with
justices shifting from the majority to the minority and vice versa. However, an advantageous vote
of 5 to 4 at the Supreme Court settled the majority and minority of the case. Highly qualified Chief
Justice Rehnquist wrote for the majority, The admission of an involuntary confession...is similar in
both degree and kind to the erroneous admission of other types of evidence ( Arizona v. Fulminante
. Lawschool). If there were an adequate supply of evidence supporting the conviction of Fulminante,
it would have incontrovertibly apparent that he did murder his stepdaughter. Fulminante s method
for murdering Jeneane involved excessive physical behavior. If he were

Although research generally confirms that pay for performance plans can influence greater
outcomes, it is unclear how effective different pay plans are relative to each other (Park, 2012).
Like most things in business, compensation is something that requires evaluation, study,
assessment, strategy, modeling and integration. Achieving a pay for performance culture does not
happen without paying attention to the behaviors, activities, rewards and motivations that have to
be linked and reinforced through a well engineered and successfully executed process. Actually if
that process does not tie rewards to shareholder financial objectives, employ the proper mix of
compensation elements, result in meaningful dollars, embrace performance that employees can
impact and are effectively communicated and reinforced, then the results it produces will likely fall
short (Vision Link Advisory Group, 2013). A strategic plan for employee compensation

The Importance Of Social Media On The Internet
As the governing authority of the most well known communist country, Chinese government has
the absolute control over the Internet, social platforms, school textbooks and a range of other
mediums. Any remark, report or topic that relates to political sensitive figures such as president,
vice president or political criminals are forbidden on the Internetand whatever that may provoke
social unrest or disadvantages to the government is strictly monitored and forbidden. Because of
political opacity, only a few are bothered about politics, among which most of them are bitterly
disappointed at the government. It is clear that owing to the internet censorship, they are too afraid
to criticize outspokenly in real life, and as a result, anonymous social media becomes the only
effectual channel. Though anonymity to some extent allows these minority people to commenton
politics or even tell true stories of political scandals in social platforms anonymously without
concerns to be tracked down by government officials, it is actually a futile attempt to promote the
political discussion environment because of the cautiousness people have about the phrase they use
or abusive words and messed up sentences they throw at the government to unleash their
dissatisfaction and rage. Many if not most of these people don t trust the absolute anonymity: they
believe that the government has the access of social media companies database. Almost all real

Burning Of Our House, By Anne Bradstreet
During the height of Puritan times, Anne Bradstreet writes Upon the Burning of Our House.
Jonathan Edwards, another writer of these times, also writes the sermon Sinners in the Hands of
an Angry God as well. With strong connecting imagery to their listeners, both these writings
portray the religious views to their way of life. As she stood in front of her once burning home,
Bradstreet wrote here stood that trunk and there that chest...under the roof no guest shall sit...
Bradstreet uses imagery to describe that her house is completely burned to the ground and that
her once flourishing home can no longer house her or her guests. The bow of God s wrath is
bent, and the arrow made ready on the string, and justice bends the arrow at your heart , Edward
s wrote his sermon to poise fear into one s heart just like how God s bow and arrow are ready
and pointed straight at the non converted chest. Edwards uses his choice of words to depict an

The Ho, Roberts And Gelman Article, Essentialism And...
The Ho, Roberts and Gelman article Essentialism and Racial Bias Jointly Contribute to the
Categorizations of Multiracial Individuals examined the joint effects of cognitive biases and social
biases on hypodescent. Loosely, hypodescent can be defined as individuals penchant to categorize
mixed race individuals into solely the raceof the minority category (Ho et al., 2015). While
previous studies have examined the effects of cognitive biases and social motivation on
hypodescence respectively, the authors were motivated by the dearth of available studies that
examined the effects of cognitive biases and social motivations jointly. Since both cognitive biases
and social motivations require higher levels of cognitive processes, it can be inferred that the
researchers would endorse a top down view of perception, especially when it comes to racial
categorization(Psych 240 Lecture 9/14/15). The researchers hypothesized that subjects who
exhibited essentialist thinking the belief that individuals belong to specific discrete groups in
which members share inextricable qualities in conjunction with high levels of anti black bias
would exhibit hypodescence, by categorizing Black White multiracial individuals into solely a
Black racial category. Since essentialism plays an integral role in the article, it is fruitful to
examine the concept using different perspectives. Perhaps the most obvious way to think of racial
essentialism is to view it in the terms of categorization. In

  • 2. Alexander s Stand Against Persia Alexander had taken a stand against Persia in many ways such as avenging Greece for when Persia had attacked them, to carry out what his father started, to free Greek cities that had been conquered by Persia, and wanting to spread Greek culture among Asia. Alexander had had the idea to spread Panhellenic ideas across Asia so he could thus further development of Greece( Infoplease). It is taking a stand by wanting to create a change in Asia against someone else s power. There was war 150 years earlier between Persia and Greece called the Persian Wars. Persia had attacked Greece twice and accomplished in the burning of Athens. Alexander did not want their acts to go unpunished and also decided to attack them to avenge Greece ( Wars ;LiveScience).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After Alexander had won the battle of Granicus he went to the city of Gordium. There, he cut the Gordian knot which said who ever had solved the knot would be king of all of Asia (History Macedonia). Alexander then learned the Persian army was marching against him once again but this time with their king Darius (Hunter 23). It is estimated that there were 200,000 Persian soldiers versus Alexander s 45,000 (Plutarch). Alexander met Darius in the narrow pass of Issus where Darius could not use his greater numbers effectively (Wasson). Many of Alexander s soldiers thought it was unwise to attack the greater numbers of the Persian army. Alexander replied to them by saying On their side, more are standing, on ours, more will fight. Alexander and his army were able to win the battle by charging straight towards Darius causing him to flee (LiveScience). Alexander was able to continue his stand down into other countries in the Persian army, freeing their culture and continuing the spread of hellenism. Darius s army had lost 110,000 men at Issus. Darius did not want Alexander to take his Empire so he tried to bribe him. He offered Alexander half of his empire and half of his riches for Alexander to stop attacking. Alexander replied to them by saying, Come to me and thou shalt receive courtesy; but otherwise, I shall march at once against thee. (Plutarch). This forced there to be another battle as Darius did not want to give up his empire and Alexander would not stop conquering, a battle that would decide whether Alexander could finish his stand or if Darius would keep his ... • 3. Development And Evaluation Of Cognition Based Interventions PhD upgrade overview In recent years, there has been increasing interest in the development and evaluation of cognition based interventions (CBIs) for people with dementia in improving cognition, and quality of life (QoL). However, little is known about the effects of these interventions for carers who are actively involved and participate in CBIs alongside their relative. In addition, it has been argued that engaging family carers in the therapeutic process is important as it has the potential to improve mutual understanding and enhance carer well being. My PhD research aims to evaluate the effects of carer involvement in CBIs for people with dementia on carer well being. This report presents the progress my research which comprises... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Chapter five describes a qualitative study which I conducted to explore the experiences and perspectives of people with dementia and their carers while taking part in the iCST intervention. Chapter six reports on my personal development and achievements and my PhD progress since my starting date which was the 29th January 2013. Advancing age remains the single most important risk factor for developing dementia (Luengo Fernandex, Leal, Gray 2010). It is estimated that there are currently over 46 million people living with dementia worldwide (World Alzheimer Report 2015), with a total of 835,000 people living with dementia in the UK alone (Alzheimer s Society, 2014). Dementia is a major cause of disability for older people (WHO, Dementia A Public Health Priority 2012). Dementia also remains a greatest challenge for the society and has a huge economic impact on the health care system, people with dementia and their families (Dowrick 2014). Alzheimer s disease (AD) is the most common cause of dementia, accounting for up to 60% of all cases (Burns et al., 2006). AD is an age related degenerative brain disorder which develops over a period of years, but is not a normal part of aging (WHO 2015). AD can affect individuals in different ways, but for most people symptoms begin by experiencing difficulty in remembering new information, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. How Does The Roughness Of A Surface Affect The Coefficient... Discussion Questions: Answer the Testable Question. How does the roughness of a surface affect the coefficient of static friction and the coefficient of kinetic friction for a block of wood, and how do these coefficients compare with each other? From the Results section above, as the roughness of a surface increases, the coefficients of friction for the block of wood increases. This can be concluded as the surfaces used in order of lowest roughness to highest roughness were the white surface, wooden surface and lastly the sandpaper surface had coefficients of friction increasing in the same order. For instance, to compare the static coefficients of the first trial of each surface in order of roughness, 0.20 0.32. Therefore, corresponding with the coefficients of static friction, the coefficients of kinetic friction also increases as the roughness of the surface increases. In conclusion, from the data collected, the observation was that as the roughness of a surface increases, the coefficient of static friction and the coefficient of kinetic friction for a block of wood will increase. In terms of the variables in this experiment, what type of relationship was being tested? In this experiment, the relationship of the variable force of friction and the coefficient of static and coefficient of kinetic friction are being tested. From the formula:Ојk=(Ff,k)/Fn, and Ојs=(Ff,s max) /Fn, the coefficients of friction are equal to the force of friction divided by the normal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Marie Curie s Popular Images Although Marie Curie was not the first woman to excel in science or mathematics, she can be considered the first major woman scientist to receive full credit for her scientific work. Considering her Nobel prizes alone, she is ranked at the top of the scientists of the modern period. Despite this, somehow Marie Curies popular images, as well as those embedded in some of the scholarly literature, suggest important, but rather modest contributions to society (Pycior, 301). Marie Curiewas born Maria Salomea Sklodowska on November 7, 1867, in Poland into a family that was liberal minded and committed to learning. Both her parents worked in a school setting, until her farther was forced to resign for political reasons when Marie was young, and her father converted the family s home into a boarding school. The Importance Of Executive Order Trump signs executive order to keep out radical Islamic terrorists In late January 2017, President Trump signed an executive order banning immigration from seven predominantly islamic countries. Trump stated that the order is necessary in order to keep radical terrorists out of the United States, but the main issue regarding this executive order is that many believe that the main cause for it is based on bigotry and not national security. Although the order does not specifically ban Muslims, many claim that it indeed does because the countries that are affected are predominantly Muslim, and Christians have the upper hand in the vetting process. All in all, Trump s effort to ensure greater national security has caused controversy between the American people. In 1882, the Chinese Exclusion Act was passed by President Chester A. Arthur. This act was passed in response to economic fears. Many Americans associated unemployment with the Chinese because they believed that Chinese Immigrants were taking their jobs. This resulted in the first major law which restricted immigration to the United States. Looking at modern day, one can see that the muslim ban executive order is very similar to the Chinese Exclusion Act. Both pieces of legislation were passed in order to protect American interests. Cyberbullying is defined as, The use of information and communication technologies such as email, cellphones, instant messaging... to promote deliberate, repeated and hurtful behavior with the intent to harm others (Tech Trends Journal, Vol. 55, Issue 2, pg. 32). The purpose of this study was to examine what instances of cyberbullying undergraduate students experience, as well as what forms of technologyare used in such instances. The questions posed were: What instances of cyberbullying do undergraduate students experience, and what role does gender play in cyberbullying at the undergraduate level?, and What forms of technology do undergraduate students use to perpetrate or receive bullying, and how often does it occur? Some questions that were also addressed were: What impact does the cellphone have on the interactions of undergraduate students as they maintain their status according to the Social Dominance theory?, How do social networking sites affect these students?, and Has the ability to reply instantly, without personal contact, augmented the bullying scene? As referenced in this article, there are many instances of previous research on the topics of bullying and cyberbullying. In the late 1970 s, Dan ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Greek Columns And The Doric Order Of Greek Architecture Greek architecture has survived throughout history and plays a major role in many structures today. Some of the modern structures that resemble Greek styling and architecture are government buildings. By building some of our most important structures with Greek designs, it shows our current emphasis on Greek architecture. There are three distinct orders, or types, of architecture. These are the Doric, Ionic, and Corinthian orders. Possibly one of the most distinguished aspects supplied by Greek architecture is the column. Columns were prevalent in Greek society and were found in many of their temples and important structures such as the Parthenon. The first and most simplistic order of Greek architecture is the Doric order. According to the article, Doric Columns and the Doric Order of Classical Architecture, Doric architecture is characterized by columns that Doric columns are, stouter than those of the Ionic or Corinthian orders. Their smooth, round capitals are simple and plain compared to the other two Greek orders. The capital is the very top piece of the column that connects the column to the rest of the structure, or the entablature. Unlike other orders, Greek Doric columns did not have bases; instead the column was fixed directly on the foundation of the structure. This simplistic design was implemented on one of the most well known works of architecture from Ancient Greece, the Parthenon. • 12. Alienation And Anomie Essay Both concepts of alienation and anomie signify how individualism has impacted the social structures through industrialization and the division of labour. Both Marx and Durkheim s theories emphasize the relationships between people in society and how this impacts on separateness and individualism within it; however, both theories are different. Where Marx is concerned he focuses on being alienated as a result of materialized matter through the bourgeoisie alienating oneself from culture, for Durkheim anomie is due to the lack of a collective conscience within society preventing both regulation and integration of culture; for Durkheim this negatively impacts on social solidarity and cohesion. Alienation occurred after the periods of slavery and serfdom arose a capitalist society, workers selling their labour skills in order to earn a living wage. In comparison to feudal societies where wealth was inherited, capitalist societies through the bourgeoisie was about owning the means of production enabling them to own private property and this being wealth. However, the cost price of the goods produced was significantly higher than the labourer s wages resulting in a profit for the bourgeoisie, this being the method of attaining wealth. The capitalist mode of production generates its wealth through exploitation of the proletariat. The Consequences of Eating from the Tree of Knowledge Essay The purpose of this study will be to examine the specific fulfillment of the consequences contained in the warning against eating of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Before we look at that fulfillment, it will be beneficial to note the specifics of the promise. THE PROMISE OF DEATH The promise seems to be quite clear as God tells Adam and Eve, in the day that you eat from it you will surely die (Genesis 2:17). The Hebrew text literally says, dying, you will die (tWmT tAm), though we should understand this, not as speaking of two deaths, but as a Hebraic figure of speech indicating the certainty of that which is promised. The translators of the NAS capture this idea when they render it, You will surely die. Not only is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He does this because it is very evident in the subsequent chapter that when Adam and Eve ate of the forbidden fruit, they did not immediately fall down and die. Instead we read in Genesis 5 how they continued to live what seems to have been long lives. We are not told this in the case of Eve, but we read of Adam living to an advanced old age of 930 years. This brings us to the crux of our problem. It is a problem between promise and fulfillment. The promise from God was that eating would lead to death on that very day. The fulfillment as recorded in Genesis 3 5 sees physical death taking place only after a very long period of many hundreds of years. The question of how we are to reconcile the difference between the promise and the fulfillment has brought forth a variety of interpretations.. One can understand the temptation to explain away this seeming contradiction by reinterpreting the promise of death as referring only to spiritual death. But does this particular passage support or even allow such an interpretation? When we look into Genesis 4 and 5, each of the many references to death refer to physical death. Cain kills Abel and is subsequently afraid that someone will find him and kill him. Lamech kills a young man and writes a song to boast of the fact. Throughout the lengthy genealogy of Genesis 5, we hear the constant refrain, And he died, and we understand each of these references to speak of physical death. Nor does ... • 16. Pros And Cons Of Banning The Headscarf Should the headscarf be banned? Recently there has been a push towards banning religious symbolism from the media, especially the hijab. The hijab is a veil that Muslim women wear around their heads to cover their hair and their bosoms; it symbolizes faith and modesty. Many people fear or in some cases feel bad for people who wear the headscarf including niqabs and burqas because they are uneducated and/or ignorant of Islamic teachings which lead them to create inaccurate assumptions and accusations on the matter. Most may believe banning the headscarf will benefit the community in ways that they believe will make people feel more comfortable and they also believe that it will benefit the women who wear the hijab because of the belief that Muslim women who wear the headscarf are oppressed, however, banning the headscarf would lead to the contradiction of Canadian values, discrimination, and go against the religious beliefs of Muslims. The prohibition of the headscarf would go against Canadian values. When Steven Harper was Prime Minister, he wanted to ban the niqab, a cloth that covers the face, for citizens who work for the government and Around 82 percent of Canadians [supported] the niqab ban, ( Trudeau s Gutsy Post Victory Speech Shatters Stereotypes ). A catastrophe like Hurricane Katrina changed the lives of the lower class African Americans forever because of the devastation from several effects. Most of these ramifications of Hurricane Katrina came from the phycological, economic and medical effects due to this natural disaster, Hurricane Katrina has plagued both lower class African Americanadults and their children due to the phycological effects. The repercussions of Hurricane Katrina had an everlasting effect on the lives of most adult victims. Many adults were at risk for being diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. This was defined in an article as, an anxiety disorder that can develop after a person has experienced an ordeal that poses severe physical harm (Hurricane Katrina). A natural disaster like Hurricane Katrina would have been a primary trigger for causing Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Unfortunately, the realization of this disease was that most adults effected would never be able to feel safe again. On the other hand, the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina on the lives of the innocent children was also just as devastating. Many children were at the risk of developing a disease called Serious Emotional Disturbance. This disease would have been caused by a traumatizing event. An example of this was Hurricane Katrina. The outcome would have caused severe stress on mainly the effected children. In their future, this disease would challenge the children s thinking and problem coping difficulties. As discussed in one article, children with SED are not able to cope with their peers or their environment (Hurricane Katrina). One thing that is impressive about The Shore is how it gets the audience to connect to the characters in such a short amount of time. Despite not being a feature length motion picture, the story fleshes out all the characters, their backstories, and their personalities. After hearing the history of Jim, Paddy, and Mary, you genuinely look forward to their reunion, and hope that they can reconcile with each other. The story is helped by having an extremely talented cast. All the actors have great chemistry with each other, making the interactions between characters seem charming and relatable. Hill is especially entertaining, being able to pull off comedic scenes at some points, as well as the more sentimental scenes at others. The Shore is one of those movies that is bound to leave you with a warm and fuzzy feeling by the time that the credits roll. As Choi and Meek exemplify, transfers between related business units represent 60 percent of all international trades (Choi amp; Meek, p. 448). Thus, one can start to understand how important it is to define accurate transfer prices. As mentioned, the globalization of markets and the rapid development of communication systems have increased the presence of trades between companies under common control. However, other factors have also helped highlight the subject. Factors like the increase of service provided within MNE s, the continuous trading activity and the use of financial instruments have increased the amount of trade between associated parties. Political forces have also assisted in the development of transfer pricing regulations, especially now during this economic crisis as governments try to increase their income through tax collection. For example, a parent company could pay less income tax in the US by determining a higher transfer price from the product it purchases from its subsidiary located in China. Since China s corporate income tax is 25% and the US tax rate is 35%, this arrangement would generate a higher income at the subsidiary in China and less overall income tax payment for the financial group in question. Nevertheless, such arrangements can be prevented by tax authorities in the US, since according to Section 482 of the Internal Revenue Code the Secretary may distribute, apportion, or allocate gross income, deductions, credits, or ... Developed by Edna Foa, prolonged exposure therapy exposes patients to their traumatic event over and over again while being in a safe place (Blankenship 277). Although prolonged exposure therapy is one treatment it has four main elements including education, breathing retraining, in vivo exposure, and imaginal exposure. Education consists of learning about the treatment, treatment symptoms, and goals of the treatment. Breathing retraining helps patients to relax and calm themselves when they become anxious. In vivo exposure allows patients with PTSD to be put in real life situations that they are not comfortable with due to the trauma they have faced. Lastly, imaginal exposure allows the patients with post traumatic stress disorder to talk through their traumatic event while it is recorded. After repeatedly talking through their event, the patient then listens to what they have said (Swan 28). Prolonged exposure therapy occurs over eight to fifteen sessions. Each session can range from 60 to 90 minutes depending on the patient and their specific needs (Blankenship 278). Lynne s goal to finish the swim is motivated by her effort, determination and bravery. Can Lynne overcome her difficulties and finish the swim, or will she let it all slip away? Lynne will be doing a mile long swim in the freezing, thirty two degree water. That is the temperature when fresh water freezes. If Lynne s cells froze, then the body tissue could result in a permanent life threatening situation. In Lynne s cabin she questioned herself, Would my core temperature drop faster? , Would i be able to tell if I was in immediate danger? . Did she really want to take such a risk, one part of her wanted it and another did not. The next morning Lynne walked down to the ship s library and drank four eight ounce cups of hot water, and ate two small croissants for breakfast. The reason she ate and drank these is because they are high in fat and carbohydrates. Swimmers need these because the water is so cold the layer of fat would help keep her warm. Gabriella came in to take a core temperature, it was about 100.4 degrees. This was higher than usual, because she was so psyched. She rubbed sunscreen on her face, but none on her arms and legs because she would be slippery if the crew needed to pull her out of the water in an emergency. The mobility of capital and labor can be beneficial to international corporations that are capable of taking advantage of international business opportunities. This aspect of globalizationcan encourage the movement of the operations of large corporations to developing areas that are in need of investment. While the movement of those corporations into developing countries can be beneficial to the region as a whole, globalization does not always affect all members of a population equally. Certain populations still struggle to find adequate housing, employment opportunities, and healthcare despite the overall economic development in their city. To maximize the benefits of globalization, it is also essential that city officials understand the importance of creating a cohesive vision to guide the growth of an aspiring global city. The Quantum Relativistic Mess Introduction String theory is one of the most active theoretical frameworks in particle physics that is used in an attempt to successfully reconcile general relativity and quantum mechanics. This concept is a great contender of quantum relativity mess theory, string theory and the theory of everything. In this essay, we visit these theories and provide a general view or opinion on the future of physics. The new form of physical theory Through out history, several changes have taken place in physics with the governing equations and fundamental principles being developed by several scientists in a view of understanding the way our universe works or even created. The evolution of physics from relying on the Newtonian Model, to gravity and currently to string theory means that discoveries in particle physics are still ongoing in an effort to reconcile general relativity and quantum mechanics. The Quantum Relativistic Mess According to Mohamed (2009) the existing current standard model of physics suffers a major fundamental flaw. It is in fact made up of two completely separate theories; the theory of Quantum Mechanics and the theory of General Relativity. When applied in their various extremities, both theories are noted by Mohamed (2009) to provide fairly accurate and sensible predictions. The theory of General Relativity is noted to work best when applied in the prediction of the phenomena that is associated closely with large celestial bodies while Quantum Mechanics only ... Some people just do not know the difference between the two, or just don t know if there even is a difference. They are very often commonly confused as the same thing and I can see why at first glance, but after searching this subject on many credible sources I have come to find many clarifying and interesting facts on this particular topic. They will not imitate or copy another country blindly. Loving a place makes one automatically love, learn, cherish, and improve the special qualities about it/them. A couple of the others are commitment and security. Most cons of patriotism fall under the category of centralization being harmful. They claim that the benefits enjoyed by centralized countries will eventually be shared by everyone worldwide. They say that it is not a big problem to desert some countries as long as citizens are happy and successful elsewhere. They also claim that in over populated countries, or those with high unemployment rates, its better when people leave. While on the other hand, Lyra developed at a very young age and became more mature than her own parents. Her cleverness and disobedient character and her insistence on becoming something gave her the chance to mature. • 29. The Importance Of Culture In Language Learning In The Importance of Culture in Language Learning written by Bill Zart(n.d.)says trying to avoid the culture of a language is actually rather hard to do if you study a language to a thorough level and interact with its speakers. Each language carries with it all of the history and culture of the area that it arises from. Truly, in language learning, the cultureexists in everywhere either in history or political or even local customs. In the same way, to assimilate in another culture, language is also a good tool to achieve that. Just think, if one cannot even communicate with local people or read the words on their books, then he or she can barely say they can get into this culture deeply. Successful assimilationto another culture requires people not only to learn their own language, but experience local culture and customs, and even define own personal identity. Learning a new language is the key to integrating into another culture. From the article by Taylor (2017) pointed out that language is a unique symbol of a country, and most of people in each country only speak in a single voice. For example, In Netherlands, nearly eighty four percent of the population firmly believes that learn to speak Dutch is very necessary if you really want to be a Dutch (para.4) In fact, learning a new language can better communicate with local people and receive information more quickly and accurately. When people master a language, they can get a better understanding of the culture in a new country. Therefore, learning a language is the first step and even is the most joint step of assimilating into another culture. Experiencing the local culture and customs is one of the most important tasks to successfully assimilate into another culture. The author of the article The melting point and the salad bowl (n.d.) points out that the characteristic of successful assimilation into another culture is to live as a native. Then, from the two most basic aspects, one is food culture, and the other is historical culture. First, three meals per day are essential to people s daily life. Everyone knows that different place has different food culture. If a person wants to successfully assimilate into a new culture, the person should ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

More specifically, The NFL would have to figure out a completely new scheduling system in order to give fair opportunity to all teams in the NFL. • 38. Bismark and German Terrority Expansion In the fifteenth century there is also evidence of individual financial gain motivating territorial expansion. The death of the Duke of Bedford must be understood as a big reason for the Burgudian changing sides during Hundred the Wars. As Anne Curry points out from the Burgudian perspective, Events following Bedford s death proved more difficult to deal with (Curry, A. (2003), on A200 website, p.3). His death resulted loss of a strong leader English leader. However, probably more important, as Bedford was married to Philip the Goods Sister Anne, the family connection had been lost. Shortly after, in October 1435 Philip the Good signed the Treaty of Arras and alliance, which ended a long rivalry, with the Armagnac s. It is clear Philip the Good benefitted from this deal. The Treaty of Arras resulted in some French lands being given to Philip the Good. In addition, he acquired greater power in these lands. As an extract from the Treaty of Arras tells us, Philip was not required to do faith, homage, nor service to the king for lands and lordships (Anthology, 2007, 1.12, p.34). So, with Philip not having to pay for his new territories, it is highly likely the taxes paid in this French lands increased Philip the Good s wealth considerably. Philip the Good probably believed once Duke of Bedford had died he had no moral obligation to maintain the Burgundian alliance with England. A product appearing in a store front window for consumers is best for business during the Christmas season so keeping stocked on important items is very important while certain products are only marketed to a very specific audience the advertising you create must target these certain individuals. When you are very sick and unable to take care of yourself and can t do things on your own, it is the nurse s job to take care of you. The nurses use a thermometer to check their patient s temperature and give them food to help them heal and recover. On the other hand, when doctors need to cure you or prevent you from a disease or illness, they insert needles to cure that disease, or make you immune to it to help you stay healthy. The reason all the Nacirema assumptions seem bizarre to us is because hospitals aren t that extreme, or don t seem that way to us. • 54. The Ho, Roberts And Gelman Article, Essentialism And... The Ho, Roberts and Gelman article Essentialism and Racial Bias Jointly Contribute to the Categorizations of Multiracial Individuals examined the joint effects of cognitive biases and social biases on hypodescent. Loosely, hypodescent can be defined as individuals penchant to categorize mixed race individuals into solely the raceof the minority category (Ho et al., 2015). While previous studies have examined the effects of cognitive biases and social motivation on hypodescence respectively, the authors were motivated by the dearth of available studies that examined the effects of cognitive biases and social motivations jointly. Since both cognitive biases and social motivations require higher levels of cognitive processes, it can be inferred that the researchers would endorse a top down view of perception, especially when it comes to racial categorization(Psych 240 Lecture 9/14/15). The researchers hypothesized that subjects who exhibited essentialist thinking the belief that individuals belong to specific discrete groups in which members share inextricable qualities in conjunction with high levels of anti black bias would exhibit hypodescence, by categorizing Black White multiracial individuals into solely a Black racial category. Since essentialism plays an integral role in the article, it is fruitful to examine the concept using different perspectives.
