comparative proteomics Essay
Comparative Proteomics: Protein Profiler Lab by Jonathan Thulson
Biology 113

Lab Partner:
Vernon Morris
INTRODUCTION Proteomics is the study of proteins. Their functions, interactions with other
proteins, cellular locations and levels at which they are expressed. The purpose of this lab was to
compare the proteins present in different species of fish to be able to determine which species of fish
have the closest relation. This can be determined based on which two fish species have the most
proteins in common with one another. The Central Dogma of biology is a process in which a gene
made of DNA is transcribed by a messenger RNA and then translated into a protein. Based on the
Central Dogma of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The proteins are also added to a Laemmli sample buffer in order to give each protein a negative charge
so it is able to get pulled through the polyacrylamide gel. The next step is to put the gel into the
electrophoresis module and to run it. It is run until the proteins have almost reached the bottom of the
gel. A blue tracking dye is added to the Laemmli sample buffer in order to track the distance in which
the proteins travel through the gel. If it is run for too long, the proteins will run off the bottom of the
gel and it will mess up your results. Once the protein reach the bottom of the gel, the gel is stained in
order to be able to see the individual bands of the different proteins. When the gel is stained, the
protein distances will be able to be measured and compared. For a detailed procedure, refer to the
Comparative Proteomics Kit I: Protein Profiler Module Lab Manual.
RESULTS
I did not get conclusive data from the gel I made. As you can see in figure 1, the bands that showed up
on the gel were too cluttered to be able to measure them. So I could not compare protein bands
between the fish species based on our gel. Instead, I used a default gel picture that another group did
in the class to get my data. From their gel I was able to compare the different species. Table 1 shows
the number of bands that were similar between the different fish species when they were compared. I
was able to determine that fish species C (Tuna)

A Star s Death Of A Star
All stars are born in nebulae. Nebulae are huge cold clouds of gas and dust. The formation of
protostars requires huge clouds of gas and dust collapsing under gravitational forces. The stage of a
protostar last an approximate of 50 million years. As stars grow, they also expand. When the core runs
out of hydrogen and helium, the contacts and outer layers of the core expand, become cold, and the
brightness decreases. This is also known as a Red Giant or a Red Supergiant which mainly consists of
the star s mass. After a while of beginning the process of its death it goes through other stages. The
beginning of a star s death starts when their core runs out of hydrogen and then helium. A star will
eventually collapse and explode. The life span

Émile Durkheim Suicide Summary
Suicide by Émile Durkheim is well known text in sociology that is extensively taught to students
within the field. Suicide was published in 1897, the work is considered cutting edge both for showing
detailed research of suicide that revealed there can and is social causes to suicide. Based on Durkheim
s research he said that suicide can be caused by social factors, not just individual psychological ones.
Durkheim reasoned that being apart of society and integrated into groups in particular is a main factor.
The more involved in society and connected to others the less likely they are to commit suicide. As
this sense of belonging decreases suicide increases. Durkheim s theory is formulated by four types of
suicide (Egoistic, Altruistic, Anomic,

Ethical Issues In Healthsouth
HealthSouth is mentioned in this week s chapter regarding companies that have suffered due to ethical
and fraudulent behaviors. In the early 2000 s, HealthSouth was under investigation by the SEC for
overstating earnings by 2.5 billion dollars. Simply stated, the CEO, Richard Scrushy, and his
leadership team were cooking the books. Fortunately for HeatlhSouth, Jay Grinney succeeded Scrushy
and the company has rebounded better than before, seeing growth across the country and showing
increased stock prices (Macfadyen. 2015).
To recover from this gross negligence and to be able to move forward in a highly regulated health care
industry required the top executives to develop a robust ethics and compliance program to prevent
further unethical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The plan was developed using a comprehensive analysis of the industry risks and HealthSouth s
historical data. The areas listed on the plan were deemed high priority based on vulnerabilities,
regulatory scrutiny, industry trends, and risk assessment results and are monitored and audited
regularly. This document is designed to be dynamic and change organically as issues are identified.
HealthSouth expects the Compliance Work Plan to be implemented and embraced by all stakeholders
in order to ensure success. As they have for years now, the findings are published on the HealthSouth
intranet site for employees to view.
Fortunately, our top executives and board of directors have set a good example and upheld the
business standards and values of the company. Remaining true to our mission to provide high quality
health care in the communities we serve, and maintaining our values of quality, integrity, cost
effectiveness, and respect has led HealthSouth favorably past the scandal of the early 2000 s. The
expectation is to remain true to our principles despite internal or external pressures, and to eliminate
short cuts and special

Importance of Symbols Essay
Importance of Symbols
In all novels the use of symbols are what make the story feel so real to the reader. A symbol as simple
as a bird can mean so much more then what you see. Whereas a symbol as complicated as the sea, can
mean so much less then what you thought. It is a person perception that brings them to the true
meaning of a specific symbol. Symbols are message within a word that must be analyzed to discover.
In The Awakening, Kate Chopin conveys her ideas by using carefully crafted symbols that reflect her
characters thoughts and futures.
Early in the novel, while Edna attempts to escape from society s strong grasp, birds emphasize her
entanglement by forecasting her actions and monitor her development by reflecting her ... Show more

Mademoiselle Reisz says, it is a sad spectacle to see the weaklings bruised, exhausted, fluttering back
to earth (83). This bird symbolizes Edna?s struggle to become the master of her own life as well as her
failure to achieve this goal. Mademoiselle Reisz understands that Edna cannot fight society and uses
birds to demonstrate this knowledge. The bird, like Edna, is the only one who possessed sufficient
candor to tell the truth about society (23).
Finally, Edna moves to what she calls her exhausted pigeon house. The name that Edna chooses for
this house implies the defeat of a bird that, in turn, implies the defeat of Edna. Throughout Edna s life,
birds reflect her actions and feelings.
All through the book, sleep is an important and reoccurring subject. Edna often sleeps in order to
recover from the stress of her awakenings. After her first solo swim she feels the physical need for
sleep [begin] to overtake her; the exuberance which had sustained and exalted her spirit left her
helpless and yielding to the conditions which crowded her in (34). She needs sleep to repair her
disheveled emotions after her aesthetic and physical awakenings. Without sleep, Edna is physically
and mentally unable to realize her ambitions.
Another symbolic example of Edna sleeping occurs at the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes in Cheniere
Caminada. There, Edna is overcome by her emotions during service. She realizes that she is going

Masque Of The Red Death Research Paper
Masque of the Red Death DEATH, BLEEDING FROM ALL PORES. Edgar Allen Poe s Mask of the
Red Death has all of these horrible things, but it makes a great story for author s craft. Authors craft
pops up everywhere in this story from amazing imagery to a great setting. The time is set in medieval
times and there is a land that is owned by a Prince and his followers, a horrible plague strikes this land
and kills many many people anyone who is in it s path is dead. The Prince invites a thousand of his
friends to hide in a fortified abbey, but he and his friends ultimately die from the read death. The
setting of Masque of the Red Death is medical times with a plague that hits the world kids people by
making them bleed from all of their pores. The Prince of a region decided to call a thousand of his
friends to an abbey that would keep them alive and safe from the Red Death but it ultimately failed
and the Red Death gets to them and kills everyone of them. This setting is great because of the fact
that there is not a good source of medicine for every one and not everyone could get help to get rid of

also used important statements in his stories and these would make the story a little more involving.

Mainstreaming Of Children With Disabilities
Mainstreaming of Children with Disabilities One of the most important factors in a well, social
functioning child with a disability is education. Proper education will offer a child the opportunity to
be successful on a higher level than a child without an education. When a child enters the school
system they are entering in an environment that is unfamiliar and challenging. Children with physical
disabilities and lack of full cognitive reasoning, sense their differences around other children.
According to Welsh, Parke, Widaman, O Neil, 2001; Social ability can have a significant impact on a
child s academic success in the classroom . Social skills are a very important factor when it comes to
educating children with disabilities. Lack of social skills could show feelings of anxiety and
depression which will affect their learning. A child with anxiety and or depression would probably be
noticeable to other children causing social awkwardness. Physical disabilities can also be a social
challenge in any setting, curiosity of the unknown by surrounding children can present insecurities for
a child with a physical disability. This may cause a child to retreat from social activities, because they
fear the questions, staring and difference of treatment. The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
was signed into law on July 26, 1990, by President George H.W. Bush. This act was modeled after the
Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibits discrimination on the basis of

Beethoven s 9th Symphony
I read that the 9th Symphony is universally considered to be among Beethoven s greatest works he s
ever written. The symphony was the first example of a major composer using voices in a symphony.
The words are sung during the final movement by four vocal soloists and a chorus. They were taken
from the Ode to Joy , a poem written by Friedrich Schiller in 1785 and revised in 1803. Today it still
stands as one of the most performed symphonies throughout the world. It is made of 4 movements.
The first movement is in classical sonata form, however, just the beginning of the 9th Symphony
jumps immediately into suspense and sense of expectancy. In the first minute, the tempo hovers
between a duple and triple meter. A and E notes are used as building

After his season with Taunton he went to play with the Norfolk team from the Virginia North Carolina
League. He ended that season with a twenty and two record. He was still playing for Bucknell during
this time period. Around July of that year, the New York Giants bought his contract form Norfolk for
1,500 dollars. In the middle of July and September 1900 Matthewson showed in six games for the
Giants. He started one of those games and come up with a zero and three record. He was not happy
with the way he played at all, and the giants returned him back to Norfolk and made him give them
there money back form the contract. Later in the same month the Cincinnati Reds grabbed Mathewson
off the Norfolk roster. On December 15, the Reds gave Matthewson back to the Giants to pick up
Amos Rusie. During the offseason for baseball Mathewson played football for Keystone College from
1895 to 1897. He became pro and played as fullback for the Pittsburgh Stars, and it was in the very
first National Football League. All of a sudden he disappeared from the team in the middle of the
season in 1902. Some Historians thought the Giants got word that their all star pitchers life was at risk
and was risking his baseball career for the Stars and demanded him to stop playing football, while
some others thought that the Stars coach Willis Richardson, kicked Matthewson out because he felt
that way, since the fullbacks punting skills weren t really used that often, so coach Willis decided to

The Importance Of Rain In New Mexico
I saw a difference in all 4 states, maybe subtle differences but New Mexico was flatter, less rocky.
Rain caught us in New Mexico, huge water drops fell on the windows, I was almost afraid it would
break the glass. I was entranced by the view out my passenger side window. Big gray clouds hung
over us, they were so low I could see the water vapor. For some reason, this interested me so much.
Had they ever seen been that low in Las Vegas? It was cloudy the rest of the way. We stopped at a rest
stop where we overlooked the road and I could see in the distance the town of Las Cruces. I stood
there for a second and just thought about what was to come. There was some sort of energy in the air,
maybe it was just the fact that it had rained but it

Postnatal Depression ( Pnd ) Essay
Postnatal depression (PND) is an isolating and debilitating mental health disorder that effects an
estimated 13 15% of new mothers within one year post delivery (CDC, 2008; Gaynes et al., 2005).
PND can be experienced as a vast array of symptoms such as anhedonia, excessive crying, mixed
anxious mood, sleep disturbance, and even suicidality (Kantrowitz Gordon, 2013). Further, mothers
with PND typically report difficulty bonding with their infant and a reduced ability to express love
and warmth (Letourneau et al., 2012; Paulson, Dauber Leiferman, 2006). Occasionally, the mother has
thoughts and images associated with hurting herself or her baby (NEED REFERENCE). Women who
experience PND may experience confusion and shame, as their experience is contrary to the ascribed
social role of motherhood which depicts an effortless, natural experience expected to bring joy.
Qualitative research suggests that women with PND universally report fear of stigma, especially the
stigma of being labeled a bad mother. This fear can lead to denial of symptoms and avoidance of help
seeking behavior (Bilszta, Ericksen, Buist, Milgrom, 2008). Women are even reluctant to disclose
distress to significant others and family members (Bilszta et al., 2008). Further, women seem to have
minimal accurate education about PND and when to seek medical services (Bilszta et al., 2008).
Women with PND are at risk and vulnerable to experiencing both social and self stigmatization.

The Issue Of Copyrighted Music And Its Illegal Consumption...
Though it doesn t receive as much attention in terms of media attention and public discourse as it
earlier in the 2000s, the issue of copyrighted music and its illegal consumption over the internet still
continues to be a major issue. With the advent of the internet, digital music, and mp3 players, one of
the drawbacks for many of those in the music industry was the subsequent increase in pirated music
that occurred. As illegal torrent sites appeared, such as Napster and Limewire, people were
discovering that they could now download for free what they once paid for. Of course, as a direct
result, music companies and artists both saw a significant decrease in sales in terms of the physical
medium, with CD sales beginning to show sharp declines. In fact, this had a carryover effects of also
closing down many of the mom and pop record stores that existed, since they did not have the
financial means to withstand a restructuring process. Major chain stores were also not immune to the
decline sales, as some once prominent stores, such as the Virgin Megastore and the Wall, had to close
down. Once Apple Inc. released its iPod and created the iTunes Store, the music industry was finally
beginning to adapt itself to the digital realm, as Apple began signing agreements with most of the
major music labels to release their songs on a digital platform as well. With songs being available
individually for just $0.99 cents and whole albums able to be purchased, people now had a legal

The Theory Of Behavioral Economics
In recent years behavioral economics appeared as a new subfield of economics. A sharp departure
from traditional economics, it is surrounding by some questions. Historical roots of behavioral
economics could be found in eighteenth century. Adam Smith in his paper The theory of moral
sentiments , had noted that human behavior was not ideal, there were deviations from rationality and
so these deviations could have impact on economic decisions of individuals. In that time, Smith had
no idea about the exact theory of decision making, however his paper played substantial role in
development of behavioral economics. Smith s idea was almost discarded until Great Depression,
when economists such as Irving Fisher and Vilfredo Pareto returned to the concept of human factor to
explain the stock market crash by considering these individuals deviations from the rationality. In
1955 economist Herbert Simon introduced the term bounded rationality . Under this term Simon

assumption of rationality in the economic models which implies that people are rational, patient and

The Monster Is Responsible For The Death Of Many People

Critical Response Essay
On the surface the films Beauty and the Beast and The Little Mermaid have little in common.
However, while the setting, plot, characters, conflict, and theme may be dissimilar the overriding
message is the same: women lose sight of their own interests in favor of being with or taking care of a
man. At the beginning of both Beauty and the Beast and The Little Mermaid Belle and Ariel are
ambitious and looking for more than their homelife has to offer. Ariel is curious about her
surroundings, brave, interested in adventures and finding new things, willing to fight for what she
wants, and independent. She wants to go up to the surface in order to see the people who make the

In The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast
Ariel and Belle both transformed from intellectually curious and ambitious people into girls who only
cared about being with a prince or caring for the men in their lives. Sadly, nothing else mattered to
them.

Explain The Meaning Of A T-Shaped Person.
Business Information Systems Q1. Explain the meaning of a T shaped person. What more general
topic does it relate to in Chapter 1? How does this term apply to an information systems (IS)
professional? How can you become a T shaped person before graduation? The term T shaped person
refers to a professional who has very deep expertise in a given area, complemented by the ability to
collaborate across disciplines unlike their own. In the area of information technologies for example,
the vertical bar of the T could represent programming prowess in a given language, including C## or
in the case of Web development Python and other advanced programming platforms. Studies of the
role of T shaped professionals in general and managers specifically show that employees who excel
with these attributes often are the most effective at contributing to new product development
initiatives given their ability to quickly synthesize tacit and explicit knowledge (Madhavan, Grover,
1998). A T Shaped professional in the IT arena then would be focused more on how to excel and gain
mastery in their specific area of engineering discipline so they could deliver even greater value to their
organizations. The highest performing members of new product development teams share the attribute
of having a very broad set of engineering and social skills that are also complimented by deep
expertise in a given area (Pinho, Rego, Cunha, 2012). It s an excellent goal to become a T shaped

Mental Health And Its Effects On Society
Everyone is different in society. There are special individuals, which are affected by mental health
illnesses. Mental health issues can affect society both negatively and positively. There are cultures that
treat these individuals like the reincarnations of gods. On the other side, there are cultures that isolate
these individuals and look for cures to these pathologies. Mental health illnesses are important because
they have to be studied to understand their cause, whether it may be biological or environmental.
These issues are important because like every type of illness they have to be delicately studied,
focusing on treatments to either cure them or reduce the symptoms of the pathology. These people
were either conflicted with the ideals of society or they were praised by it. Cultures, which didn t
accept them, closed them up into asylums. Patients inside these facilities were brutally used as guinea
pigs for their experiments. The way these people were treated shows how cruel and ignorant people
were to the unknown. By learning from histories mistakes we can move forward in improving our
society and achieve greatness.
Today, mental issues like ADHD, schizophrenia, bipolar disorders, and depression are better
understood thanks to past experience and seen as a minor neurosis. Unfortunately some treatments
depersonalize these individuals leaving them empty and plain. There are clear examples of negative
connotations attributed to medications. In his autobiography, the

the catholic church and the world by the time he died.
The year 1789 was when Marcellin Champagnat was born. At this time, the outbreak of the French
revolution occurred. During this time the official religion of the French State was Catholicism. In
1789, the French population was 28 million and almost entirely catholic. By 1794, because of the split
between the church and the state following the French revolution, the churches of France and the
religious orders were closed down and all religious worship was supressed. The following decades

Law Enforcement And Criminal Justice System
Law enforcement agencies together with the entire criminal justice system of the United states have
for a long time been accused of exhibiting biasness when it comes to the implementation of the law.
The two systems have been accused of being harsh on particular ethnic communities and being too
lenient on other communities. One perfect exemplification of the discrimination and bias exhibited by
law enforcement agencies regards the criminalization of Black and Latino communities. Recent
statistics indicates that members of the black and Latino communities are increasingly being exposed
to harsher treatment by the criminal justice system and law enforcement, and the rates of victimization
for these two communities are at all time high. Incidences of random stopping, questioning and
frisking of black and Latino people have been on the rise particularly in large cities such as New York,
Los Angeles, and Chicago and so on. In addition, the number of prosecution and conviction of Latino
and Black suspects in courts is also very high. Perhaps this is why a large percentage of incinerated
individuals is made up of members from the black and Latino communities. The observed
victimization and criminalization of blacks and Latinos has been the subject of much literature and
press releases. This essay aims to explore how this criminalization has been reported in books, media
outlets and so on. Edward J. Escobar is one of the authors who has explored the issue of Black and

(Mazze, Strock, Simonsen, Bergenstal, 2004, p. 81). Obesity is another condition which can result in
metabolic syndromes which also play a role in the development of T2DM along with other diseases
including coronary heart disease, all of which are major contributors to patient morbidity and
mortality (Craft Gordon, 2011, p. 1068).
Pathophysiology
As previously mentioned, T2DM is characterised by insulin deficiency and insulin resistance within
peripheral tissues such as muscle, liver, and adipose tissues (Mazze, Strock, Simonson, Bergenstal,
2004, p. 79). It was also noted that other conditions, namely obesity, were recognised to be positively
correlated to the progression of T2DM.
Insulin deficiency refers to when a person fails to secrete adequate levels of insulin during digestion of
meals (Naseem et al., 2012). Producing adequate levels of insulin is essential for being able to
overcome the increase of glucose levels in the body while eating, this is achieved by sending signals
to the liver to reduce its production of endogenous glucose. However, after prolonged exposure to this
disease, this affects the ability of β cells to respond to rises in glucose levels. (Mazze, Strock,
Simonson, Bergenstal, 2004, p. 80). Located in the pancreas, β cells, or Beta cells, are responsible for
the production and storage of insulin (Resnick, 2014).
Insulin resistance, however, occurs when insulin receptors within cells of the body

Modern Femininity And Gender Roles
Though Hannah Höch may be a jack of all trades in the art realm having dabbled in painting, drawing,
printmaking, textiles, pattern making, and photography she certainly is a master of collage. A German
artist of the 20th century, Höch is primarily known for her turbulent romantic relationship with Czech
artist Raoul Hausmann, one of the founders of the Berlin Dada movement. Hausmann credited himself
and Höch as the inventors of photomontage. Höch uses her collages to comment and critique the
unstable sociopolitical state in Germany at the time. Her collages also highlight the growth of mass
media and new technology. Perhaps most importantly, Höch challenges the concept of modern
femininity and gender roles through her work. As the only female Berlin Dada artist, Hannah Höch
takes a unique and important perspective on the social and political changes occurring in 20th century
Germany. Höch was born in 1889 in Gotha, Germany. She moved to Berlin in 1912 to study
calligraphy, embroidery, wallpaper design, and graphic art (National Museum of Women in the Arts).
In 1915, she met Raoul Hausmann, with whom she had a seven year relationship. From 1916 to 1926,
she worked in the handicrafts department of a magazine and newspaper publishing company. Her
work included designing knitting, crocheting, and embroidering patterns. Later on, she incorporated
lace and embroidery patterns in her photomontages juxtaposing these traditional women s crafts with
modern culture. In 1926,

Smart planning and using green technologies can reduce the impact that urbanization and growing
populations puts on the Bay. Pervious paving surfaces reduce the amount of runoff going into the Bay.
There are many benefits to using pervious concrete, these benefits are achieved with the use of an
innovative design. Pervious pavement, also referred to as porous or permeable pavement, is actually a
system consisting of an open graded surface layer of concrete, asphalt, or pavers, typically placed over
an open graded aggregate base layer. The pavement structure has a large percentage of void spaces
allowing water to permeate through the surface and base at a rate comparable to that of a grass lawn
(Broviak). Strict stormwater control measures have recently been passed in states surrounding the
Chesapeake s watershed, including Maryland, and many require a certain amount of green space or
use of green technologies in construction. In addition to the growing use of pervious pavement
techniques, other types of stormwater management techniques are gaining popularity. In a thesis paper
from University of Maryland, Wilson discusses alternative ways to engineer for the Bay; By using
technologies such as cisterns, green roofs, and constructed wetlands, the built environment can be
designed to decrease our need for expensive water purifying infrastructure and preserve the health of
fragile estuary ecosystems such as the Chesapeake Bay. Rain gardens are a viable alternative to storm
drains to deal with runoff from impervious areas. A rain garden captures water that would usually run
into a storm drain and eventually be discharged into a river and allows it to infiltrate into the ground
and for evapotranspiration to occur. In a study done to evaluate how effective rain gardens are at
capturing and reducing runoff results were

and young adults started increasing in marijuana usage in the late 60?s and early 70?s. During this
time another act was passed which divided drigs into five catagoreis. Marijuana was placed uner the

Case Analysis Of American Airlines
Introduction
This case study is about competition between American Airlines (AAL) and other airlines, as well as
the way AAL behaved in the face of new entries of low cost carriers (LLC) at AAL s Dallas Fort
Worth (DFW) hub. In this case study, economy of scope produced by a hub, the use of information
technology (IT) as a competitive advantage, and the use of loyalty program are discussed. AAL s use
of predatory pricing to drive out existing competitors, its reputation for predation, and the arguments
from both sides of the antitrust lawsuits are also studied.
Analysis
Background of American Airlines
American Airlines was founded on April 15, 1926, and grew to become the predominant carrier at the
Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) International Airport, serving more than 70% of passengers boarding in
Dallas. On all of its routes, AAL carried between 60% and 100% of passengers traveling to and from
Dallas during the 1990s (Herb, 2007). On December 9, 2013, AMR Corporation (the parent company
of AAL) and US Airways Group form the American Airlines Group, while preserving the American

Cultural Aspects Of Female Empowerment In The Disney Movie...
In the Disney movie, Moana, the main character demonstrates her personal strength as a woman
capable of determining her own future. Moana breaks the typical Disney mold of a princess being
associated with a prince as the main character. Moana realizes she has the sole power within herself to
take the lead role to save her village by returning the Heart of Te Fiti. The Heart of Te Fiti is what
gives the world and most importantly her people s island life. When the Heart of Te Fiti was stolen by
demi god Maui the world fell to darkness and the island began to deteriorate. The pop culture aspect
of female empowerment is exemplified in the scene where Moana is visited by her deceased
grandmother, Gramma Tala, after a moment of self doubt about being able to return the Heart of Te
Fiti in order to save her people and island. In the scene Gramma Tala is deceased but visits Moana in
the form of a vision. Moana envisions her people sailing the sea and her father upon one of the ships.
Moana was struggling with finding her inner self and utilizes her visit from Gramma Tala, to
acknowledge her self power. In the movie Moana, the I am Moana scene exemplifies the current
cultural theme of female empowerment being actualized when the main character, Moana realizes her
own inner strength after understanding her cultural heritage, receiving inspiration from her
grandmother, and embracing her role in building her future.

Effects Of Hormones And Antibiotics On Animals And Humans
The Effects of Consuming Hormones and Antibiotics to Animals and Humans Not everyone knows
what they are eating on a daily basis. Some believe what they read from the label on a package. While
another will go with what a commercial that they heard on the television said. The truth of the matter
is that you can not go around believing everything that someone has said. The only way that you can
be certain as to what you are eating is if you actually know what has gone into the process of
preparing that meal. There are many ways that someone can protect themselves and their family from
getting these possibly life threatening illnesses that could harm not just your life, but also a future
child that could possibly be consumed later on down the road. Throughout the past couple decades,
researches have discovered the causes of consuming of hormones and antibiotics in both animals and
humans. Nine out of ten calves in the United States are given hormonal growth stimulators. Some of
the reasons why farmers would give their animals hormone growth stimulators and antibiotics would
be so the animals would grow faster than they normally would. Since the animals are growing faster,
the farmers are making more money. The way that they are making more than what they would be
without using hormones and antibiotics is because the animals tend to eat more the longer they are
alive. If the animals are getting a boost in their growing process, they will not be consuming as much
food,

My hypothesis suggests that the largest impact on age related positivity effect is an individual that
encountered more challenges throughout their lives. When individuals work for their successes,
overcome obstacles and learn to cope with adversity, they have an opportunity to learn invaluable
lessons of perseverance. Aware of attention restoration theory (ART) that theorizes cognitively,
individuals naturally are stimulated by either negative or positive stimuli (Berman, Jonides, Kaplan,
2008). ART is based on research, examining the separation of attention into two fundamental areas:
involuntary attention, where ones attention is drawn to their natural positive or negative stimuli
(Berman, Jonides, Kaplan, 2008). The secondary occurs when your attention is captured by something
intriguing to your personal sensibilities, some stimuli that challenges your natural cognitive thought
pattern (Berman, Jonides, Kaplan, 2008). Therefore, theorizing individuals that encounter few
adversities within the first one third of their lives, lack the opportunity to learn challenging coping
skills, thus, leaving these individuals with a personal deficit when forced to endure hardships and
calamities in the later stages of their lives (Berman, Jonides, Kaplan, 2008). Once again, these factors

To Kill A Mockingbird Analysis
To Kill A Mockingbird takes place during the 1930 s, a time of intense racial inequity and prejudice.
Harper Lee intends for the novel to display the harsh reality to the real world, and exhibit how life and
society were really like during this period in history. Humanity s views and morals have shown little
sign of ever being able to accept change or difference as seen in particular issues such as racism,
discrimination, sexism, prejudice etc. Whilst reading the novel, readers can identify these well known
problems and maybe even relate to some of the ideas that Lee is portraying. Lee uses symbols to
effectively communicate and express her thoughts and opinions on the various themes of the book.
Moreover, these symbols are able to tap into the subconscious mind to implement ideas that can be
analyzed in order to understand their relevance to not only the plot line and major theme topics of the
novel: appearance versus reality, conscience and integrity, and loss of innocence, but also to modern
society. At first glance, Maycomb appears to be a quaint, peaceful town. Lee later proves this to be a
common misconception made by outsiders. Throughout the novel, we come to learn the true nature
and life of Maycomb. Underneath the picture perfect image, there is a disease spreading, infiltrating
and infecting the minds of Maycomb. (pg 117). Jem, I ain t ever heard of a nigger snowman, I said. To
this Jem replies with He won t be black for long. (Lee pg 89) The snowman is a

The Robots Rebellion
Humans are constantly manipulating their environmental cues and outputting their thought processes
into their daily behaviours. It is not uncommon for substantial irrationality to be present in many of
these behaviours exerted into the world. Take for example the two most basic principles of decision
theory, the sure thing principle and the transitivity principle. You are choosing between two possible
outcomes, A and B. There is an event X that may or may not occur in the future. If you originally
prefer outcome A to outcome B, then you should always prefer outcome A to B regardless of
uncertainty or certainty of event X occurring. You are choosing between two outcomes. If you
originally prefer option A to B and following that, B to C, then ... Show more content on

The rule mentions what is on the back of a vowel, but not a consonant, therefor E is relevant to the
rule and F is not. The rule mentions nothing about what is on the back of an even number, therefor 2 is
irrelevant to the rule. However, 7 is the other correct response because there is a possibility that it has
a vowel on the back, and if it did, the rule would prove to be false; to show that it is not false, the 7
card must be turned over. Davies mentions that putting this if P, then Q question in context is easier to
test for the falsity of the rule by showing the if P, and not Q . This task demonstrates that even when
you are given the answer in the question, the natural TASS tendency ignores this and focuses its
attention on the assumption of truth and confirming the hypothesis. A task, such as this one, demands
the specific attention to an array of subjects, in which some of these subjects have the property of
being true or not. As a consequence of this, the natural processing biases of TASS emerge. Unless
overridden by the analytic system, this demonstrates one of the cognitive biases mentioned by Davies
known as confirmation bias. Confirmation bias is the act of accepting, seeking out, and remembering
things that confirm and support your views. You are actively trying to show that things are false, and
when you fail to do so, that proves success. Another bias that is often a product of the TASS system

Desktop Pc Sales And Its Effect On The Consumer Market
Despite the fact that desktop PC sales have dropped by twenty one percent from 2011 to 2015, there is
still no laptop or smart phone that can completely replace the functions of a same class desktop.
Desktops will not become obsolete, instead it will become more specialized for small/medium
business and professional fields such as CAD (Computer Aided Drafting), video editing and gaming in
the future, its solid and stable performance prevents it from retiring from the electronics market.
Desktops have a very long history; this form factor of computing originated in the late 1970s.
Previously the computer market has been dominated by enormous servers and expensive workstations
made by IBM. In 1981 IBM released the IBM PC, it was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Modern consumer devices since 2011 are now trending toward mobility, touchscreen, and user end
optimization. On the other hand is cloud computing, which allows easier mass deployment for large
enterprise. The sales number of desktops are now decreasing and has lead to the debate of whether it
will be replaced by mobile devices. The convenience that modern mobile devices provide are
exceptionally attractive for average consumer/end users. These are the factors which lead to the
decrease of desktop sales. The debate over whether desktops will become obsolete has since began.
Those who believe that desktops will become obsolete often use the decrease of desktop sales to argue
for the downfall of desktops, believing that the desktop sales will eventually drop to zero. This is not a
pointless estimation. The trends of the performance of mobile devices such as laptops and smart
phones in recent years will eventually catch up to the performance of desktops, once it happens,
desktops will become extinct. In recent years the use of cloud computing is rapidly expanding in
enterprise environments; by deploying thin clients[6] instead of conventional desktops organizations
can save massive amounts of money and make management much easier. Some people even believe
that cloud computing will be the future

getting more complicated. Many of the terms thrown around in the booth business are lost on actual
clients. This article is an attempt to clear up some of the jargon, provide a few tips, and help you make
informed decisions. Fully armed, you will be ready to rent the perfect booth for your event. DSLR
Camera This is a term you will see thrown around a lot. DSLR stands for digital single lens reflex.
Basically, the digital equivalent of the 35mm Nikon or Pentax your parents used to carry around. A
DSLR can certainly take quality photos. However, many point and shoot cameras produce quality
results, as well. Your best bet is to look at samples from recent events. Dye Sub Printers Dye Sub is
short for dye sublimation. Virtually all reputable photo both operations use some form of this
technology. Dye Sublimation printers use a heat transfer process that uses a film to produce the images
on the paper. The quality is usually good and the printing speed is fast. There is not a noticeable

Middle Childhood Attachment Research
The relationship that a child shares with a parent compares to no other. The child is a creation of both
the mother and the father, therefore, exhibiting both characteristics and behaviors that the parents
illustrate, that the child could then possibly imitate. During the middle childhood years, it is to some
extent similar to the preschool years. This timeframe is well known as the calm after the preschool
years, before the storms of adolescence hit. (Holden, p. 262) This is the point where the child shifts
from being in the house to a variety of social environments that affects the child s developmental
stage. Research has shown that the development of child behavior problems in middle childhood is
influenced by different aspects of the family environment, including maternal psychosocial
functioning and the quality of child attachment to parent (DeKlyen and Greenberg 2008). ... Show

Nurture is one of many roles that come into play when it comes to the behavior of the child. During
the early childhood years, the child forms one of four attachments to the parent. Which is another key
factor that plays a role in the child s behavior. If the child shares a secure attachment to the parent, is
would be related to high levels of warm parental involvement, psychological autonomy granting, and
behavioral monitoring and control. In contrast, mothers of avoidantly attached children are less
responsive, more withdrawn, consistently rejecting, and uncaring low levels for all three levels was
expected to be associated with an avoidant attachment

Influenza Vaccine Research
Influenza A and B viruses are responsible for causing influenza. It is an acute respiratory illness that
occurs every year mainly during fall and winter (from late November through March).1 Therefore,
CDC recommends to vaccinate everyone 6 months and older with influenza vaccine every year.
Children aged 6 months 4 years, adults 50 years and over, health care professionals,
immunosuppressed personnel, American Indians/ Alaska natives, extremely obese patients (BMI ≥ 40)
and pregnant women should be prioritized to receive influenza vaccines in case of limited vaccine
supply.2 Among adults, people over 65 years have more chances of complications, hospitalizations
and death from influenza vaccine as most of them have some chronic diseases which ... Show more

It was a randomized, double blinded, phase IIIb IV, active controlled trial that was carried out in USA
and Canada to compare the effectiveness of high dose influenza vaccine (60 µg of hemagglutinin per
strain) versus standard dose vaccine (15 µg of hemagglutinin per strain). Medically stable patients
who are 65 years and over were included in the study. Participants with life threatening reaction to
vaccines, history of Guillain Barre syndrome, bleeding disorders, dementia, or if they received the flu
vaccine within 6 months, were excluded from the study. The study was carried out for 2 years during
flu season and each year participants were randomly assigned to receive 1:1 ratio of either the high
dose (IIV3 HD) or standard dose (IIV3 SD) of influenza vaccine. Participants were contacted two
times a week or at least once weekly by a call center between Jan to April. Participants reported to
their specific site if they have any respiratory symptoms. The primary end point of the trial was the
occurrence of influenza at least after 14 days from vaccinations. The trial also assessed effectiveness,
immunogenicity and serious adverse events. A total of 30,000 participants were needed to meet the
80% power. In total, 31,989 participants were enrolled in the trial and so the study met power. Two
sets of analysis were used in the trial: 1) Intention to treat analysis and 2) per protocol analysis. All
31,983 participants who received vaccines were included in intention to treat analysis and 31,803
participants were included in per protocol analysis. In intention to treat analysis, 228 participants
(1.4%) in IIV3 HD group had influenza as compared to 301 participants (1.9%) in IIV3 SD group
(relative efficacy, 24.2%, 95 % CI, 9.7 36.5). Throughout the trial at least one serious adverse event

Mayella Ewell Have Too Much Power Dbq Essay
There are many definitions of power but my definition of power is to rule over, or to have strength.
The plot of this story is about what powers do Mayella Ewell have, and need to gain. The thesis
statement states that Mayella gets made fun of for her class, and gender, but because of her race, she
has the right, and power to stand up for herself. For instance, Mayella lacks power because of her
social class, and she lacked this power because of her,and her family lived behind the town garbage
dump (Doc. A) . There are Several reasons she gets treated badly, including this quote stating while
Tom was giving his Testimony, they realized that Mayella was probably the most loneliest person in
the world (Doc.E) . She was getting angry when she finally says won t answer a word you say, long as

C) . So in conclusion Mayella got treated very badly, and finally got tired of it, and stood up for
herself. Third, Mayella lacks power also, because she is a female, and they think little of her. Mayella
Ewell was beaten savagely by someone who led almost exclusively with his left. This shows that
because she s a woman she gets easily taken advantage of like she s nothing.(Doc.B) . Then she says
She never kissed a grown man before. this shows that she has no contact,or relationships with men.
(Doc.B). Lastly she says except when nothing;said Mayella I said he does tollable which means
Mayella is holding back what she really wants to say about her father.(Doc B.). So in conclusion there
are several ways that Mayella gets mistreated because of gender. However,Mayella does have power
for her race. She shows power in chapter eighteen when she says won t answer a word you say, long as
you keep mocking me (Doc.C). In the next document it says that the assumption of negroes being

Good And Evil In The Tell-Tale Heart
Some would say good and some would say evil, some would say that humans are both, unless forced
to take a side. Human s do have good in them, for if they didn t there would be no kindness in the
world, for example taking the time to help a troubled old lady cross a busy street. Of course to be a
human you are going to have a small amount of evil residing inside of you, for all humans have been
selfish at some point in their life. Hopefully, you get the idea now, that I believe that humans are
inherently evil. People can become evil from fear. In the short story The Tell Tale Heart , is about a

As his given job at age 12, he became the new receiver. The old receiver becomes the Giver and
transmits his memories that he was given to Jonas. And during one of his transmutations it was
described like this, She rocked him and rubbed her cheek against his (Lowery pg.123). This was
during a memory the Giver transmuted into Jonas, but in their world now they no longer have any
physical touching in between each other, such as they are not allowed to touch people who are outside
of their family unit, and the families themselves already do not touch each other very often. On a
separate occasion, the Giver was explaining to Jonas about color, There was a time, actually when
flesh was many different colors... We ve never completely mastered Sameness. I suppose the genetic
scientists are still hard at work trying to work the kinks out... (Lowery pg. 94 95). This could show
that the scientists want to make it so that nobody is different for each other, but when they do that,
when they reach total Sameness, it will erase all of the differences of the world, and the differences
between our looks will disappear forever. And they will be cursed to forever look the

  • 2. comparative proteomics Essay Comparative Proteomics: Protein Profiler Lab by Jonathan Thulson Biology 113 October 6, 2013 Lab Partner: Vernon Morris INTRODUCTION Proteomics is the study of proteins. Their functions, interactions with other proteins, cellular locations and levels at which they are expressed. The purpose of this lab was to compare the proteins present in different species of fish to be able to determine which species of fish have the closest relation. This can be determined based on which two fish species have the most proteins in common with one another. The Central Dogma of biology is a process in which a gene made of DNA is transcribed by a messenger RNA and then translated into a protein. Based on the Central Dogma of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The proteins are also added to a Laemmli sample buffer in order to give each protein a negative charge so it is able to get pulled through the polyacrylamide gel. The next step is to put the gel into the electrophoresis module and to run it. It is run until the proteins have almost reached the bottom of the gel. A blue tracking dye is added to the Laemmli sample buffer in order to track the distance in which the proteins travel through the gel. If it is run for too long, the proteins will run off the bottom of the gel and it will mess up your results. Once the protein reach the bottom of the gel, the gel is stained in order to be able to see the individual bands of the different proteins. When the gel is stained, the protein distances will be able to be measured and compared. For a detailed procedure, refer to the Comparative Proteomics Kit I: Protein Profiler Module Lab Manual. RESULTS I did not get conclusive data from the gel I made. As you can see in figure 1, the bands that showed up on the gel were too cluttered to be able to measure them. So I could not compare protein bands between the fish species based on our gel. Instead, I used a default gel picture that another group did in the class to get my data. From their gel I was able to compare the different species. Table 1 shows the number of bands that were similar between the different fish species when they were compared. I was able to determine that fish species C (Tuna) ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. A Star s Death Of A Star All stars are born in nebulae. Nebulae are huge cold clouds of gas and dust. The formation of protostars requires huge clouds of gas and dust collapsing under gravitational forces. The stage of a protostar last an approximate of 50 million years. As stars grow, they also expand. When the core runs out of hydrogen and helium, the contacts and outer layers of the core expand, become cold, and the brightness decreases. This is also known as a Red Giant or a Red Supergiant which mainly consists of the star s mass. After a while of beginning the process of its death it goes through other stages. The beginning of a star s death starts when their core runs out of hydrogen and then helium. A star will eventually collapse and explode. The life span ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Suicide was published in 1897, the work is considered cutting edge both for showing detailed research of suicide that revealed there can and is social causes to suicide. Based on Durkheim s research he said that suicide can be caused by social factors, not just individual psychological ones. Durkheim reasoned that being apart of society and integrated into groups in particular is a main factor. A symbol as simple as a bird can mean so much more then what you see. Whereas a symbol as complicated as the sea, can mean so much less then what you thought. It is a person perception that brings them to the true meaning of a specific symbol. Symbols are message within a word that must be analyzed to discover. This bird symbolizes Edna?s struggle to become the master of her own life as well as her failure to achieve this goal. Mademoiselle Reisz understands that Edna cannot fight society and uses birds to demonstrate this knowledge. The bird, like Edna, is the only one who possessed sufficient candor to tell the truth about society (23). Finally, Edna moves to what she calls her exhausted pigeon house. The name that Edna chooses for this house implies the defeat of a bird that, in turn, implies the defeat of Edna. Throughout Edna s life, birds reflect her actions and feelings. All through the book, sleep is an important and reoccurring subject. Edna often sleeps in order to recover from the stress of her awakenings. After her first solo swim she feels the physical need for sleep [begin] to overtake her; the exuberance which had sustained and exalted her spirit left her helpless and yielding to the conditions which crowded her in (34). She needs sleep to repair her disheveled emotions after her aesthetic and physical awakenings. Without sleep, Edna is physically and mentally unable to realize her ambitions. • 8. Mainstreaming Of Children With Disabilities Mainstreaming of Children with Disabilities One of the most important factors in a well, social functioning child with a disability is education. Proper education will offer a child the opportunity to be successful on a higher level than a child without an education. When a child enters the school system they are entering in an environment that is unfamiliar and challenging. Children with physical disabilities and lack of full cognitive reasoning, sense their differences around other children. According to Welsh, Parke, Widaman, O Neil, 2001; Social ability can have a significant impact on a child s academic success in the classroom . Social skills are a very important factor when it comes to educating children with disabilities. Lack of social skills could show feelings of anxiety and depression which will affect their learning. A child with anxiety and or depression would probably be noticeable to other children causing social awkwardness. Physical disabilities can also be a social challenge in any setting, curiosity of the unknown by surrounding children can present insecurities for a child with a physical disability. This may cause a child to retreat from social activities, because they fear the questions, staring and difference of treatment. • 15. Postnatal Depression ( Pnd ) Essay Postnatal depression (PND) is an isolating and debilitating mental health disorder that effects an estimated 13 15% of new mothers within one year post delivery (CDC, 2008; Gaynes et al., 2005). PND can be experienced as a vast array of symptoms such as anhedonia, excessive crying, mixed anxious mood, sleep disturbance, and even suicidality (Kantrowitz Gordon, 2013). Further, mothers with PND typically report difficulty bonding with their infant and a reduced ability to express love and warmth (Letourneau et al., 2012; Paulson, Dauber Leiferman, 2006). Occasionally, the mother has thoughts and images associated with hurting herself or her baby (NEED REFERENCE). Women who experience PND may experience confusion and shame, as their experience is contrary to the ascribed social role of motherhood which depicts an effortless, natural experience expected to bring joy. Qualitative research suggests that women with PND universally report fear of stigma, especially the stigma of being labeled a bad mother. This fear can lead to denial of symptoms and avoidance of help seeking behavior (Bilszta, Ericksen, Buist, Milgrom, 2008). Women are even reluctant to disclose distress to significant others and family members (Bilszta et al., 2008). Further, women seem to have minimal accurate education about PND and when to seek medical services (Bilszta et al., 2008). Though it doesn t receive as much attention in terms of media attention and public discourse as it earlier in the 2000s, the issue of copyrighted music and its illegal consumption over the internet still continues to be a major issue. With the advent of the internet, digital music, and mp3 players, one of the drawbacks for many of those in the music industry was the subsequent increase in pirated music that occurred. As illegal torrent sites appeared, such as Napster and Limewire, people were discovering that they could now download for free what they once paid for. Of course, as a direct result, music companies and artists both saw a significant decrease in sales in terms of the physical medium, with CD sales beginning to show sharp declines. In fact, this had a carryover effects of also closing down many of the mom and pop record stores that existed, since they did not have the financial means to withstand a restructuring process. Major chain stores were also not immune to the decline sales, as some once prominent stores, such as the Virgin Megastore and the Wall, had to close down. Once Apple Inc. released its iPod and created the iTunes Store, the music industry was finally beginning to adapt itself to the digital realm, as Apple began signing agreements with most of the major music labels to release their songs on a digital platform as well. How does this term apply to an information systems (IS) professional? How can you become a T shaped person before graduation? The term T shaped person refers to a professional who has very deep expertise in a given area, complemented by the ability to collaborate across disciplines unlike their own. In the area of information technologies for example, the vertical bar of the T could represent programming prowess in a given language, including C## or in the case of Web development Python and other advanced programming platforms. Studies of the role of T shaped professionals in general and managers specifically show that employees who excel with these attributes often are the most effective at contributing to new product development initiatives given their ability to quickly synthesize tacit and explicit knowledge (Madhavan, Grover, 1998). A T Shaped professional in the IT arena then would be focused more on how to excel and gain mastery in their specific area of engineering discipline so they could deliver even greater value to their organizations. The highest performing members of new product development teams share the attribute of having a very broad set of engineering and social skills that are also complimented by deep expertise in a given area (Pinho, Rego, Cunha, 2012). • 28. Mental Health And Its Effects On Society Everyone is different in society. There are special individuals, which are affected by mental health illnesses. Mental health issues can affect society both negatively and positively. There are cultures that treat these individuals like the reincarnations of gods. On the other side, there are cultures that isolate these individuals and look for cures to these pathologies. Mental health illnesses are important because they have to be studied to understand their cause, whether it may be biological or environmental. These issues are important because like every type of illness they have to be delicately studied, focusing on treatments to either cure them or reduce the symptoms of the pathology. These people were either conflicted with the ideals of society or they were praised by it. Cultures, which didn t accept them, closed them up into asylums. Patients inside these facilities were brutally used as guinea pigs for their experiments. The way these people were treated shows how cruel and ignorant people were to the unknown. By learning from histories mistakes we can move forward in improving our society and achieve greatness. Today, mental issues like ADHD, schizophrenia, bipolar disorders, and depression are better understood thanks to past experience and seen as a minor neurosis. Unfortunately some treatments depersonalize these individuals leaving them empty and plain. There are clear examples of negative connotations attributed to medications. In his autobiography, the ... Law Enforcement And Criminal Justice System Law enforcement agencies together with the entire criminal justice system of the United states have for a long time been accused of exhibiting biasness when it comes to the implementation of the law. The two systems have been accused of being harsh on particular ethnic communities and being too lenient on other communities. One perfect exemplification of the discrimination and bias exhibited by law enforcement agencies regards the criminalization of Black and Latino communities. Recent statistics indicates that members of the black and Latino communities are increasingly being exposed to harsher treatment by the criminal justice system and law enforcement, and the rates of victimization for these two communities are at all time high. Incidences of random stopping, questioning and frisking of black and Latino people have been on the rise particularly in large cities such as New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago and so on. In addition, the number of prosecution and conviction of Latino and Black suspects in courts is also very high. Perhaps this is why a large percentage of incinerated individuals is made up of members from the black and Latino communities. The observed victimization and criminalization of blacks and Latinos has been the subject of much literature and press releases. Obesity is another condition which can result in metabolic syndromes which also play a role in the development of T2DM along with other diseases including coronary heart disease, all of which are major contributors to patient morbidity and mortality (Craft Gordon, 2011, p. 1068). Pathophysiology As previously mentioned, T2DM is characterised by insulin deficiency and insulin resistance within peripheral tissues such as muscle, liver, and adipose tissues (Mazze, Strock, Simonson, Bergenstal, 2004, p. 79). It was also noted that other conditions, namely obesity, were recognised to be positively correlated to the progression of T2DM. Insulin deficiency refers to when a person fails to secrete adequate levels of insulin during digestion of meals (Naseem et al., 2012). Producing adequate levels of insulin is essential for being able to overcome the increase of glucose levels in the body while eating, this is achieved by sending signals to the liver to reduce its production of endogenous glucose. However, after prolonged exposure to this disease, this affects the ability of β cells to respond to rises in glucose levels. (Mazze, Strock, Simonson, Bergenstal, 2004, p. 80). Modern Femininity And Gender Roles Though Hannah Höch may be a jack of all trades in the art realm having dabbled in painting, drawing, printmaking, textiles, pattern making, and photography she certainly is a master of collage. A German artist of the 20th century, Höch is primarily known for her turbulent romantic relationship with Czech artist Raoul Hausmann, one of the founders of the Berlin Dada movement. Hausmann credited himself and Höch as the inventors of photomontage. Höch uses her collages to comment and critique the unstable sociopolitical state in Germany at the time. Her collages also highlight the growth of mass media and new technology. Perhaps most importantly, Höch challenges the concept of modern femininity and gender roles through her work. As the only female Berlin Dada artist, Hannah Höch takes a unique and important perspective on the social and political changes occurring in 20th century Germany. Höch was born in 1889 in Gotha, Germany. She moved to Berlin in 1912 to study calligraphy, embroidery, wallpaper design, and graphic art (National Museum of Women in the Arts). In 1915, she met Raoul Hausmann, with whom she had a seven year relationship. From 1916 to 1926, she worked in the handicrafts department of a magazine and newspaper publishing company. Smart planning and using green technologies can reduce the impact that urbanization and growing populations puts on the Bay. Pervious paving surfaces reduce the amount of runoff going into the Bay. There are many benefits to using pervious concrete, these benefits are achieved with the use of an innovative design. Pervious pavement, also referred to as porous or permeable pavement, is actually a system consisting of an open graded surface layer of concrete, asphalt, or pavers, typically placed over an open graded aggregate base layer. The pavement structure has a large percentage of void spaces allowing water to permeate through the surface and base at a rate comparable to that of a grass lawn (Broviak). Strict stormwater control measures have recently been passed in states surrounding the Chesapeake s watershed, including Maryland, and many require a certain amount of green space or use of green technologies in construction. In addition to the growing use of pervious pavement techniques, other types of stormwater management techniques are gaining popularity. In a thesis paper from University of Maryland, Wilson discusses alternative ways to engineer for the Bay; By using technologies such as cisterns, green roofs, and constructed wetlands, the built environment can be designed to decrease our need for expensive water purifying infrastructure and preserve the health of fragile estuary ecosystems such as the Chesapeake Bay. Rain gardens are a viable alternative to storm drains to deal with runoff from impervious areas. A rain garden captures water that would usually run into a storm drain and eventually be discharged into a river and allows it to infiltrate into the ground and for evapotranspiration to occur. Moana breaks the typical Disney mold of a princess being associated with a prince as the main character. The Heart of Te Fiti is what gives the world and most importantly her people s island life. The truth of the matter is that you can not go around believing everything that someone has said. The only way that you can be certain as to what you are eating is if you actually know what has gone into the process of preparing that meal. There are many ways that someone can protect themselves and their family from getting these possibly life threatening illnesses that could harm not just your life, but also a future child that could possibly be consumed later on down the road. Throughout the past couple decades, researches have discovered the causes of consuming of hormones and antibiotics in both animals and humans. Nine out of ten calves in the United States are given hormonal growth stimulators. Some of the reasons why farmers would give their animals hormone growth stimulators and antibiotics would be so the animals would grow faster than they normally would. Since the animals are growing faster, the farmers are making more money. Aware of attention restoration theory (ART) that theorizes cognitively, individuals naturally are stimulated by either negative or positive stimuli (Berman, Jonides, Kaplan, 2008). ART is based on research, examining the separation of attention into two fundamental areas: involuntary attention, where ones attention is drawn to their natural positive or negative stimuli (Berman, Jonides, Kaplan, 2008). The secondary occurs when your attention is captured by something intriguing to your personal sensibilities, some stimuli that challenges your natural cognitive thought pattern (Berman, Jonides, Kaplan, 2008). Harper Lee intends for the novel to display the harsh reality to the real world, and exhibit how life and society were really like during this period in history. Humanity s views and morals have shown little sign of ever being able to accept change or difference as seen in particular issues such as racism, discrimination, sexism, prejudice etc. Whilst reading the novel, readers can identify these well known problems and maybe even relate to some of the ideas that Lee is portraying. Lee uses symbols to effectively communicate and express her thoughts and opinions on the various themes of the book. At first glance, Maycomb appears to be a quaint, peaceful town. Lee later proves this to be a common misconception made by outsiders. It was a randomized, double blinded, phase IIIb IV, active controlled trial that was carried out in USA and Canada to compare the effectiveness of high dose influenza vaccine (60 µg of hemagglutinin per strain) versus standard dose vaccine (15 µg of hemagglutinin per strain). Medically stable patients who are 65 years and over were included in the study. Participants with life threatening reaction to vaccines, history of Guillain Barre syndrome, bleeding disorders, dementia, or if they received the flu vaccine within 6 months, were excluded from the study. The study was carried out for 2 years during flu season and each year participants were randomly assigned to receive 1:1 ratio of either the high dose (IIV3 HD) or standard dose (IIV3 SD) of influenza vaccine. Participants were contacted two times a week or at least once weekly by a call center between Jan to April. Participants reported to their specific site if they have any respiratory symptoms. The primary end point of the trial was the occurrence of influenza at least after 14 days from vaccinations. The trial also assessed effectiveness, immunogenicity and serious adverse events. A total of 30,000 participants were needed to meet the 80% power. In total, 31,989 participants were enrolled in the trial and so the study met power. Two sets of analysis were used in the trial: 1) Intention to treat analysis and 2) per protocol analysis. All 31,983 participants who received vaccines were included in intention to treat analysis and 31,803 participants were included in per protocol analysis. In intention to treat analysis, 228 participants (1.4%) in IIV3 HD group had influenza as compared to 301 participants (1.9%) in IIV3 SD group (relative efficacy, 24.2%, 95 % CI, 9.7 36.5). Lastly she says except when nothing;said Mayella I said he does tollable which means Mayella is holding back what she really wants to say about her father.(Doc B.). This was during a memory the Giver transmuted into Jonas, but in their world now they no longer have any physical touching in between each other, such as they are not allowed to touch people who are outside of their family unit, and the families themselves already do not touch each other very often. This could show that the scientists want to make it so that nobody is different for each other, but when they do that, when they reach total Sameness, it will erase all of the differences of the world, and the differences between our looks will disappear forever.
