- Consider the veining in your quartz. If the stone has prominent veining, select a paint color that will highlight rather than compete with those natural patterns. Lighter colors generally work best.
- Think about lighting. Quartz has subtle variations that may be lost if the paint color is too dark.

LAND USE LAND COVER AND NDVI OF MIRZAPUR DISTRICT, UPRAHUL
This Dissertation explores the particular circumstances of Mirzapur, a region located in the
core of India. Mirzapur, with its varied terrains and abundant biodiversity, offers an optimal
environment for investigating the changes in vegetation cover dynamics. Our study utilizes
advanced technologies such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Remote sensing to
analyze the transformations that have taken place over the course of a decade.
The complex relationship between human activities and the environment has been the focus
of extensive research and worry. As the global community grapples with swift urbanization,
population expansion, and economic progress, the effects on natural ecosystems are becoming
more evident. A crucial element of this impact is the alteration of vegetation cover, which plays a
significant role in maintaining the ecological equilibrium of our planet.Land serves as the foundation for all human activities and provides the necessary materials for
these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
changes, conversion trends, and other related patterns. The spatial dimensions of land use and
cover support policymakers and scientists in making well-informed decisions, as alterations in
these patterns indicate shifts in economic and social conditions. Monitoring such changes with the
help of Advanced technologies like Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems is
crucial for coordinated efforts across different administrative levels. Advanced technologies like
Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems

Changes in vegetation cover refer to variations in the distribution, composition, and overall
structure of plant communities across different temporal and spatial scales. These changes can
occur natural.

3. Congressional Term Limits Essay
While Donald J. Trump was at a campaign event in Colorado Springs, he said that if he was elected
president he would call for congressional term limits. He began by saying that he has plans to drain
the swamp of Washington, DC. As apart of this statement, he promised to push for a constitutional
amendment to impose term limits on congressional lawmakers. Not only will it end our
government corruption, but we will end the economic stagnation that we are in right now , stated
Trump. What Donald Trump is talking about is directly connected to the United StatesCongress and
would have huge impact on Congress if gone through with.
This is of considerable significance due to the fact that Congress is a fundamental part of the United
States government. And changing it, would lead to major changes in how our government
functions. Limiting congressional terms might have some unforeseen complications. For example,
some states have placed term limits on their state legislatures, and have found that newly elected
legislators tend to be more partisan and ideological than their more seasoned colleagues. Long
serving lawmakers often become more understanding of the rival party and learn how to find
workable compromises. While novice legislators, fresh from the campaign trail, often see the other
party as an enemy. Which can greatly inhibit the coalition building needed to pass budgets and
meaningful laws. On the other hand, some people believe that term limits will ... Show more content

I agree that term limits may help with the corruption problem, however I also believe that term
limits may create a Congress of little experience. In reality, there is almost no possibility that
congressional term limits will be enacted. Even if Donald Trump proposed these term limits, such a
change would require a two thirds vote from both chambers or a constitutional convention. And
neither the House nor the Senate would agree to placing term limits on

7. Digital Formats And The Vinyl Records
We live in an ever changing world, with technological advancements being made every day.
Digital formats are everywhere, from phones to watches with music being a part of it all.
Musical formats prior to digital formats have, for the most part, faded into the background, but
there is one relic that is regaining popularity and that is the vinyl record. Vinyl records burst on
the scene at the beginning of the 20th century and are more popular than ever boasting 52%
increase in sales from 2013 to 2014, while the popularity of digital downloads are slowly
decreasing dropping by 9% (Gibson). As vinyl makes its way back into the hands of audiophiles,
new consumers are racing to get their paws on these vintage music format, but where does one
go to acquire vinyl records? Luckily, there are several options from the old standard of the record
store to the all inclusive online store. There are also some unusual places to find vinyl such as the
thrift and discount stores and the occasional jackpot at a garage or estate sale. Overall the record
store has the other choices beat due to the overall experience the collector gains through the record
store s various assets such as, locations and instant gratification, a tangible experience, interacting
with owners and other vinyl enthusiasts, and special discounts and events like Record Store Day.

8. James Moore Interview Essay
When having the privilege of conducting an interview with Lindsey Moore, she seemed like a
very intriguing person. When first walking into the room she had a warming smile, smelled of
coconuts, long luscious blonde hair and her hands were as soft as a tissue. Moore has
accomplished many phenomenal goals that she has set for herself. If someone had to describe
Moore with a phrase, that phrase would be hard worker. She emphasized on three key parts
where she had to work hard and those key parts were, practicing, WNBA and coaching. Without
these parts she would not be where she is today or how she is today. Moore has been a hard
worker ever since she was little. She knew at a young age that her abilities were far more
superior to her classmates. She might not have been taller than them but she knew for a fact that
her hand eye coordination and agility were better than theirs, so she decided to capitalize on these
aspects of her game. Since Moore knew what she was better at she used her key aspects towards
her advantage at sports, and one certain sport she put them to use was... Show more content on

To her the goods about coaching are being able to share your knowledge of the game with the
players and just see them work hard to get better every day. Having to work hard also comes
with this job; you have to make practice schedules and be up early and be able to do the best to
your ability as a coach. One thing she said she would never stop doing and that is working hard.
Also when talking with her about continuing to work hard, Moore said she would like to become
a head coach of a college team in the future. It might take a lot of effort and dedication to become
one but knowing of her work ethic, becoming a head coach will be an easy task for her. If you want

9. The Virginian, by Owen Wister
The Virginian
The cowboy hero, The Virginian, as portrayed in Owen Wister s novel was the first of his kind
and today is known as the stereotypical mythic cowboy figure which our view of the western
frontier are based from. The Virginian was the first full length western novel apart from the short
dime novels which marked the final stage in the evolution of the cowboy hero to a national icon.
The Virginian was published in 1902 and at that time was wildly popular because of the
settlement of the west. The story of the cowboy who had the skill and courage to take control of
the untamed frontier enthralled people. The cowboy hero had a few distinguished qualities, he was
a self appointed vigilante, he had a very strict moral code, he ... Show more content on

The man had thrown something, which turned out to be a bottle. (66). This little exchange
following the stage coach incident with Molly was an example of the intolerance the Virginian
had for the mistreatment of women and he stood by his moral code and saved her from any
further danger. Finally the western hero s wit and exceptional skills of perception really
brought the most depth and character to the mythic cowboy hero. The wit of a cowboy and his
capacity to understand an audience is commonly the point of a challenge as we see in The
Virginian. Once again I had heard applied to the Virginian that epithet which Steve so freely
used. The same words, identical to the letter. But this time they had produced a pistol. When
you call me that, SMILE! So I perceived a new example of the old truth, that the letter means
nothing until the spirit gives it life. (21). The Virginian is putting Trampas in his place with the
phrase, When you call me that, smile! he orders the action and reins his enemies with his speech
as greatly as he does with his physical actions. His speech is held in reserve for only the
moments he needs to use it, much like his other abilities. The western hero rarely uses his gun or
language as a weapon, but when he does it is powerful, precise and effective. Typically a cowboy is
a man of little words but when he does talk he has a way of getting right down

The scene in The Fits that I decided to make a close reading of was the scene in which Toni and
Maia are standing in the middle of the pool (52:10 54:00). I found that this scene had a large
amount of symbolic meaning, and utilized a good variety of artistic decisions that aided in the
dramatic action, and opened up some social issues to the audience. First of all this scene was shot
with a handheld camera. The cinematographer did not appear to use a steadicam; yet, the scene
did not have a jarring effect as the cinematographer followed Toni running. There is also a really
nice tracking shot where the cinematographer spins around Toni and Maia to capture the two of
them from a different angle while also tracking past the sun as it sets. We also witness an eyeline
match when we see Toni s face and then the filmcuts to four birds flying overhead. When looking
at the shot of the four birds we see that one of the birds has fallen behind the other three, and then
the birds go off in different directions. I took this to mean that she had fallen... Show more content

First of all, I enjoy that we are able to see the depth of the pool. This allows the audience to
actually gauge how large, or in this case small, the actors are. I simply enjoyed this because
actors heights are normally hidden for the audience s view. As well, this film establishes that the
girls should have a fear of the water that is allegedly giving them the fits . It is a recurring trend
that water holds importance in cinema. It generally is either seen as a place of refuge, like in It
Follows, or it is a place of danger, like in Ratcatcher, and Under the Skin. Once this has been
established, this scene takes place in the middle of an empty pool. I found it interesting how the
scene takes place in an area where the thing that they are supposed to fear has been completely
removed, and now they can only stand in its

11. Aladdin The Musical Reflection
The theater was largely attended by children and toddlers. To my surprise, I noticed that there were
a decent number of adults attending the show too. I was not sure if they were dragged into the
show by their own children or that they came to watch the performance willingly. Unfortunately, I
was dragged into the theater to watch Aladdinthe Musical with my younger siblings during a
family outing in Disneyland. I tried my best to spot other adolescents in the theater. However, it
felt like I was the only one. Embarrassed, I sat in deeper into my seat, hoping that no adults could
find and criticize me. Aladdin the Musical uses the same plot from the movie, Aladdin as a
foundation for their own plot. The plot is about how a thief was destined to be the prince of
Agrabah with the help of a powerful genie and how an evil vizier named Jafar desired to take
over the kingdom of Agrabah by abusing the genie s powers. As the emcee made his
announcements, I assumed that I would fall asleep on the cushioned seat from all the boredom I
would experience from a children s fairytale. Surprisingly, I was wide awake throughout the entire
show. In fact, I enjoyed the performance very much.

first scene. In the first scene, there was a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The flow of the scenes made the story understandable. However, the performance did not exactly
follow the same storyline as the movie. For example, Aladdin was actually sent to prison by Jafar
and he escaped it by using one of the genie s three wishes but the performance altered their story so
they need not to reenact that scene. I also believed that the performance could have had more
backstory. For example, the performance did not inform the audience that Princess Jasmine was
fussy about choosing her suitors and that Jafar was trying to court her so that he can take over the
kingdom of

12. Be A Woman Programmer
In the essay How to Be a Woman Programmer by Ellen Ullman, published by The New York
Times, the author addresses the multiple ways in which gender prejudice is alive and in the
computer science industry today. While women still face discrimination, the inequality is more
apparent than ever in the workplace.
A point Ullman makes is that women in the computer science industry must prove themselves
further than their credentials. Ellen Ullman says But no matter how strong the social structure,
there is always that cheek slapped moment when you are alone with the anti women prejudice: the
joke, the leer, the disregard, the invisibility the inescapable fact that the moment you walk through
the door you are seen as lesser, no matter your credentials (Ullman, 2013), meaning that, even
though the woman is more than qualified, she must still prove herself even when nobody is
watching.
Ellen Ullman writes about an account she had with a former employer. She says about the
encounter I had a boss who said flatly, I hate to hire all you girls, but you re too damned smart. By
all he meant three but, at the time, it was rare to find even one woman in a well placed technical
position. (Ullman, 2013)
According to Rich and Walker Second wave feminism, beginning in the mid 1960s, tended to focus
on the under representation of women in the workplace. This was expressed with the creation of the
Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), Title VII of the Civil Rights Act (which

Considering three big religions that are prominent across the United States, Jewish, Muslim,
and Christianity, all give feedback on what they consider to be right or wrong regarding if they

meat will be considered Kosher. Rabbi Joshua Strulowitz of the West Side Institutional
Synagogue in New York stated, The animal would need to be slaughtered according to Jewish
law before harvesting the cells because meat from a live animal is not Kosher. (Fox). In the
Jewish sense, the animal would need to be killed anyways in order for the people of its religion

was also well respected in his community because of his morals, and dedication to help his

The character Atticus once again is a perfect role model of a person who has passion for their
job which gives him courage to change the world with his work in serving justice. Although the
case of Tom Robinson trial against Myela Ewell was sprung on him and he knew their chances
were hopeless, he still treated it like another case of his and braved the trial. When Scout asks
why Atticus must defend Tom Robinson, Atticus replies with the main reason being that he
couldn t be the lawyer, and parent he s worked hard to be any more if he didn t defend Tom.
Atticus s decision to defend Tom is born out of his need to be seen as a lawful, moral, responsible
citizen and father, not out of an urgent ethical need to change bitter racist conditions (Dogra, 43).

15. Dna And Protein Synthesis Essay
DNA and Protein Synthesis
One of the most fundamental properties of any and all living organisms is that of reproduction. As
we all have learned, organisms inherit their genetic information defining their structure and
functions from their parents. Similarly, all cells come from preexisting cells, so the genetic
information is duplicated and pass from the parent to the new cell of each division.
DNA is the term that is used in biology, as well as several other parts of your everyday life. We all
know that DNA is a part of our bodies, but may wonder what exactly is DNA. DNA which is also
known as deoxyribonucleic acid, which is the genetic material of a cell. DNA is considered to be
the molecule of life, and aides in the determination of our physical characteristics. DNA is present
in all living organisms.
It is said that the process of protein synthesis is controlled by the DNA molecules. Proteins are
used for growth and repair, as well as enzymes. Thus, DNA is able to apply some controlling
influence over the cells as a whole, and ultimately the organism as well. In DNA, the segments
which hold the vital key to this process are referred to as the genes.
In the early 1940 s, two American geneticists by the names of George Wells Beadle, and Edward
Lawrie Tatum provided one of the first vital clues. While they were working with fungi, more
specifically Nuerospora and Penicillium, they found information regarding genes and how they

One of the many challenges the Nixon administration faced, was the Vietnam War. He realized
that this war wasn t going anywhere, and that the American people were not as gung ho for the
war like they were before his presidency. With that in mind, Nixon introduced the topic of
Vietnamization . (Wikipedia) He introduced this topic in his May 14, 1969 speech and also
introduced it in his letter to Ho Chi Minh. (Document A) Vietnamization was basically a plan to
get Americans out of Vietnam. Nixon wanted to stop the deaths of American soldiers because he
saw that this war wasn t going to be won. During Vietnamization, American soldiers were to train
the South Vietnamese soldiers on how to fight and, at the same time, remove American troops
from Vietnam. In Nixon s letter to Ho Chi Minh, Nixon talks about a just peace . Minh responds to
Nixon s call for a just peace by stating that peace will happen, and the Vietnamese people want
peace to happen, but the United Statescontinues to intensify its military operations . Minh also
responds with the only way that peace will happen in Vietnam is when the United States withdraws
their troops and allows the South Vietnamese to fight with out foreign influence . (Document A) In
terms of the United States, the Nixon administration ended the war between Vietnam and the U.S.

way he looked at me made the hair on the back of my neck stand up and the sick feelingin the pit of

direction as I was escorted away into Newsom s possession. The old man talked to me as I sat
beside him on the way back to his plantation, although I couldn t understand what he was saying
over the loud pitter pattering of my heart beating so fast. I was uncomfortable and scared, I didn

before he raped me. I had only ever heard stories of women being raped by their masters but never

There are two methods used to measure level of liquid; direct methods and indirect methods.
Direct methods of level measurement measures the height above a zero point by different
methods. By definition, direct methods for level measurement are mainly used where level
changes are small and slow such as in sump tanks and bulk storage tanks, this method actual
level is monitored. It is simple to use and reliable and not costly. These methods are safe because
they are suitable to hazardous areas. So they are highly recommended in oil and gas level
measurement. There are four types of direct level measurement devices. The 1st is the Dipstick
and Dip Rods: Is a method that has been around for hundreds of years. Our ancestors used to
insert a long pole into a river or canal then pull it out and the wetted part was used to determine
the depth. Today they do the same thing but with a long metal rod that has been dipped into a
vessel. The rod is stopped either at the top of the vessel by a protruding flange on the rod, or at
the bottom of the vessel when the tip of the rod reaches the bottom. When the rod is withdrawn,
the wet/dry interface can be clearly seen and the level determined from a scale on the rod (Image

22. Unconditional Positive Regard In Psychology Essay
Psychology is all about human minds and how people behave. Psychology today are more based
on social, lifespan development and personality. There are several parts of psychology, which
individuals are more likely to involvement such as, unconditional positive, conformity and
personality parenting styles. Unconditional positive regard is in roger s theory that based on the
child s sense of being unconditionally loved and valued even if a child, do not conform to the
standards and expectation of others. For example, when I was babysitting a child, I was able to
disagree of child s specific behavior without completely refusing the child himself. As a
babysitter, I said to a child that I love her, nevertheless I cannot do what she like because it is not
good behavior. The reason that this is an example of unconditional positive regard it is because
the objectifying tendency is fully operational and she makes selections that move her in the way
of greater growth and fulfillment of potential. According from Rogers, he believes that it is
through consistent knowledge of unconditional positive regard that one develop a psychologically
healthy and fully functioning person. Moreover, this was the only way which the child s vital
sense of self worth can continue intact. Conformity is the tendency to regulate one s behavior,
attitudes, or beliefs to group norms in reply to real or imagined group pressure. For instance, in fall

Organ donation: a person with healthy organs and tissues allows for them to be transplanted to

an examination of the potential donor s physical and historical status is conducted. In this

the individual s cause of death damaged certain organs, then those organs would be ruled out. The
medical history of the potential donor is also examined. For example, the individual being a smoker
would determine them ineligible. If everything checks out the potential recipients are examined to

24. Ode To A Nightingale And John Keats Analysis
The verse of John Keats is loaded with individual investigations of profound and serious
emotions and reflections on life. His sonnets concern an assortment of topics, for example, time
everlasting and the progression of time and the want to discover perceptual quality amidst
constant change. From pursuing his verse I trust that these topics are unmistakably vital to
Keats, as they can every now and again be viewed as the establishments on which quite a bit of
his verse is based. Another essential part of Keats verse is his utilization of rich, dynamic
symbolism, regularly identified with nature, which is utilized to give noteworthy bits of
knowledge into life. In this exposition, I will talk about the above topics, and how I reacted to
Keats treatment of them. The sonnets on which I will base this paper are, Ode to a Nightingale ,
When I Have Fears That I May Cease To Be. While perusing some of his verse, it appears to me

27. Economic Development Of China Through Marxian Economics...
In the era of capitalist globalization, the economic growth of China has made the country a possible
regional leader with the potential to become a global power. With respect to economics, China s
capitalist market has become a key international player in global politics. One way of
conceptualizing the phenomenon of economic expansion in China is through the examination of
traditional and contemporary IR theories. China s remarkable economic growth, which exemplifies
their socialist market economy model, can be conceptualized by the structural change in the
country s internal dynamics such as institutional changes and configuration of labor as well as
external factors by expanding the degree of openness through capitalinvestment, trade
liberalization, and importation of advanced technologies. Both internal dynamics and external
factors of China s economic transformation can be rationalized by their appropriate theoretical
frameworks for economic development. This paper seeks to examine the recent economic
development of China through Marxian Economicsand Neoclassical Economics by engaging the
initial work of Marx s assumption on capital accumulationand the contemporary work of
neoclassical economics approach to capital distribution.
After a comprehensive analysis, this literature review presumes that both Neoclassical and Marxian
approaches to China s economic expansion give an ideal interpretation of the phenomenon.

As Figure 2 shows, both groups under the age of fifty are similar, possessing a strong preference
for beer followed by wine and liquor. However, fifty and older consumers preferences show an
increased interest in wine and a decrease in both beer and liquor. This shift suggests that many
beer drinkers move away from beer as they age and gravitate toward wine. There is significant
market potential if Bud Light can lure these fifty and older drinkers back to beer and away from
wine.
Fifty and Older Consumers as a Target Market
Fifty and older consumers represent the market with the largest potential for growth. Currently
comprising close to 100 million people in the United States, their population is expected to grow

For you were once murkiness, however now you are light in the Lord. Live as offspring of light

Paul develops the difference in the middle of obscurity and light (Wood, 69). They were not

Obscurity alludes to when they were lost and did not know the Lord. They were the light when
they were spared and got to be one in Christ. The entire passage plays on the rich imagery of
dimness and light, obscurity speaking to lack of awareness, blunder and shrewd, light speaking to
truth and exemplary nature (Stott, 199). The word, you, alludes to the Christians

31. The Struggle In Hawthorne s Young Goodman Brown
False Faces
Writing about the 17th century, Nathaniel Hawthorne used the knowledge of his ancestors to depict
influential stories of the Puritan culture and their ideals. Often noting the hypocrisy of Puritanism,
his characters embody the virtues and flaws of the Puritan people. One of his characters, Young
Goodman Brown, experiences a profound disillusionment when he attends the devil s ceremony in
the woods of Salem. During the procession, the devil preaches with a certain superiority, This night
it shall be granted you to know their secret deeds... where crime has been committed, and shall
exult to behold the whole earth one stain of guilt, one mighty blood spot (44). Goodman Brown
learns that those whom he had considered as the models of morality are actually sinners. The devil
accentuates the point that not only these people are sinners, ... Show more content on

In Young Goodman Brown and The Minister s Black Veil, multiple characters are obsessed with
the sins that others are hiding. The theme of hiding one s faults and flaws remains prevalent in
literature not only pertaining to the Puritans of American history. In Shakespeare s Macbeth,
Lady Macbeth and her husband plot to murder King Duncan. After the crime, Macbeth assumes
power and must speak with Duncan s closest friends in such a way that he will not be accused of
the King s assassination. Conspiring with Lady Macbeth, he says, False face must hide what the
false heart doth know (I.vii.92 96). Macbeth must hide the sins of his heart by displaying a
facade. Reverend Hooper presents a facade, however, it is the opposite. Instead of showing a
kind face to cover his sins like Macbeth, he wears a dark veil to cover his typically genial
disposition. The false faces of the world are what cause one to be suspicious and obsess over
another s purity. Considering the texts, the obsession with purity and sin can only result in one s

Psoriasis is a multi systemic, chronic, inflammatory disease, with the most common manifestations

may be less prevalent in Africa and Asia than other parts of the world.5 Psoriasisis further divided
into different categories, the most common of which is plaque psoriasis, which affects 80 90%
of patients with psoriasis.4 The defining characteristic of plaque psoriasis is the presence of
erythematous, sharply demarcated, scaly, white or silver plaques, which can range in their size
and coverage of the body.4 These plaques may be itchy and bleed if disturbed.5 The most common
sites for plaques are the trunk, buttocks, scalp, and limbs.4 Additionally about 1/3 of patients with

33. Examples Of Structuralism In The Movie Coach Carter
Structuralism is a philosophy that views society as composed of structures such as class and race
that shape our lives, making it challenging for all individuals to have access to equal opportunities.
Thus, it is focuses on exposing these structures and investigating power who has it and who doesn
t and what we can do to change this, often by way of advocacy, actions, and campaigns, and
striving for social change (J. Poole, personal communication, September 13, 2017).
Coach Carter is a sports drama based on a real life experience of a former Richmond High alumni
and basketball coach, Ken Carter, who became known in 1999 for benching his undefeated
basketball team, due to poor academic standing (Watch Coach Carter, n.d.). It is through this film I
will illustrate my understanding of structuralism, with a special focus on the lockout that occurs, as
it demonstrates power imbalances addressed by advocacy and social action (Watch Coach Carter,
n.d.).
In the film, Coach Carter initiates a lockout after learning some members of his team failed to
uphold the academic requirements mutually agreed to between the Coach and the players in a
signed contract (Watch Coach Carter, n.d.). In place of practice, the players were confronted by a
sign on the gym door asking that they meet the Coach in the library (Watch Coach Carter, n.d.).
Going forward, practices were cancelled and the team was forced to forfeit games they
demonstrated an improvement in their grades (Watch Coach

This definition will work for the purposes of this paper. American popular culture has never been
more dominant internationally than in the middle of the 90s В– nor more controversial. Serious
money is involved as pop culture is America s second biggest export after aircraft (Rockwell
1994). There is a common perception that in the process of globalization American products
dominate everywhere on the world s markets. The fact that you can quench your thirst with Coca
Cola in about 185 countries is but one example of U.S. economic ambition (Stephens 1993, online).
Likewise, European anti globalization activists have long criticized Hollywood and its big budget
studios for monopolizing the world movie in dustry and, consequently, flooding other cultures with
American iconolatry. The popu larity of a movie like Jurassic Park (1993), for instance, was
identified as threatening to the national identity of other cultures. It has also been lamented that due
to the widespread distribution of industrialized music and the loss of music that is charac teristic of
a certain culture, civilizations are increasingly losing a sense of national identity and pride (cited in

Introduction The invasion of Normandy, also known as Operation Overlord or D Day, was perhaps
one of the most important battles in the human history. The invasion took place on June 4, 1944, at
the Coast of Normandy in France. Troops from over twelve countries, including Canada, the United
Kingdom, and the United Statesof America participated in the fight against Germany. Although the
battles were enduring and hard fought, the Allies achieved the final victory; the Allies were finally
able to set their feet on the European soil again. The Allied invasion of Normandy was a major
turning point of the war that led to the ultimate liberation of Europe from the Nazi forces.

With a strong backup, the Allied troops were able to advance through the enemy occupied
countries with lightening speed. Therefore, the attack not only led to the French people s freedom,
but also to the quick downfall of Nazi Germany. (Naval History and Heritage D Day, the
Normandy Invasion, 6 25 June 1944)
Relief of Soviet s pressure Other than causing the liberation of France and the establishment of a
new battlefront, the invasion also relieved the Soviet Union s pressure. Before the Invasion,
Germany had over two million troops fighting against the Red Army in the Eastern Front, and
many of Soviet s cities were captured. The Russians fought desperately to protect their cities.
However, after the invasion, with the launch of a new major battlefront in the West, Hitler had to
transport many of his forces to the West in order to defend his own country. Without as many
troops to fight against, the Soviet army was able to push through Czechoslovakia, Poland and
eventually penetrate into Germany; the Soviet Union s progress greatly sped up the endof the war.
(Naval History and Heritage D Day, the Normandy Invasion, 6 25 June 1944)
Significance of the Invasion on smaller scales On much smaller scales, the Battle of Normandy
was also quite important. The depressed Europeans, who had been living in the shadow of war for
the past four years, were delighted by the news of victory. In

The Development of a Campaign for Women s Suffrage in Early 1870 s
The campaign for women s suffrage gathered support after 1870, mainly because of a growing
number of women who, through education, realised society was extremely unequal and recognised
a need for change through action. The Forster act of 1870 which gave compulsory primary
education to girls, was a landmark event that meant the women of the future would have the ability
to question the inequalities of a chauvinistic society.
Other important factors were an increased awareness of women s suppression throughout society,

The vote was no longer just for the aristocracy. This was the beginning of the mindset If most men
can vote, why can t women .
Society s opinion of women was had gradually been shifting towards more liberal ideals and this
was reflected by a number of parliamentary reforms throughout the later part of the 19th century to
acts such as the Divorce Law of 1857 and the Married Women s Property Act of 1858 (later
mentioned), that were both hugely unfair. Although the law was still bias towards men, these sorts
of acts gave women more independence and the inspiration to challenge the other inequalities in
Victorian society.
Women s groups fought hard during the late 19th century for female privileges and women such as
Emmeline Pankhurst pushed for the reform of acts such as the Women s Property Act that was
originally billed in 1858. After pressure from the women s rights movement, several minor
reforms and many failed attempts at the passing of freer bills led to the eventually reform of 1882
which led to women had the same rights as men in regards to owning property and private income.
By 1870 women had gained the right to vote on school boards and were also granted the right to
stand as candidates. In 1970 four female candidates were elected onto school boards across the
country. One of these women, Elizabeth Garrett Anderson who stood in Marylebone in

1.1 Identify models which make suppositions about human nature and behaviour at work
Theory X and Theory Y represent two sets of assumptions about human nature and human
behaviour that are relevant to the practice of management. They describe two contrasting models
of workforce motivation. Theory X represents a negative view on of human nature that assumes
individuals generally dislike work, are irresponsible, and require close supervision to do their jobs.

7. The average human being is inherently self centred and indifferent to organisational objectives.
8. The average human being by nature resists change.
9. The average human being is gullible and not very bright.
Theory Y views human beings in optimistic or positive terms. The assumptions of this theory are:
1. The average human being does not inherently dislike work.
2. Employees will exercise self direction and self control if they are committed to objectives.
External control and the threat of punishment are not the only means to make employees to work
towards objectives.
3. Commitment to objectives is a function of the rewards associated with their achievement.
4. The average human being can be motivated by higher level needs i.e. esteem and self
actualisation needs.
5. The average human being learns not only to accept but to seek responsibility.
6. The average human being seeks responsibility because it allows them to satisfy higher level
needs.
7. The capacity to exercise imagination and creativity in the solution of problems is widely spread
throughout the population.
Theory Y suggests or contributes the following thoughts :
(i) Management is responsible for organising the resources of the company to achieve
organisational objectives.
(ii) Employees are not lazy or passive or resistant to organisational objectives.
(iii) Work is natural to employees if managers can release and channel the employees

most important findings are the lack of effective communication management and the absence of a
clear strategy for implementing the merger. It have been founded that most of the observed
companies have set the financial benefits and economics of scale as their main objectives. In human
resource aspect, It has been founded that no attempts have been made for finding the organisational
fit before the mergers and this caused a high level of uncertainty between the employees. Finally,
because of the bad management of turnover during the merger, most of the companies have lost
their top manager and staff significantly. Integrating the attributes of human resource and
organisational culture are on of this article significance. This article has evaluated the success of the
mergers and acquisitions by interrelated characteristics between these two main fields. Another
significance is the location of the research, South Africa, Which there are a few research related to
that country. The research has used only five companies that mean a very small sample size.
Furthermore, companies have been chosen from different industries and sectors, which reduce the
precision of the findings. It could be added that the authors have used qualitative research, which
means the findings are highly based on the interpretation of the authors. Article utilised

in place to ensure a limit in fishing and that the catch of the day is distributed according to the

Endangered species of marine ecosystems can also be restored in an artificial way. This is a

different species are introduced in a new habitat. Here they are mingled with native species. This

Malcolm X, Martin Luther King Jr, and James Baldwin have some of the most well known
African American writers. Although they lived during the same time and agreed that race was an
enormous problem, they all had different approaches. For example: King believed in nonviolent
protest and integration, Malcolm X wanted a separate society for blacks and violent protests, and
Baldwin knew that white people were the key to solving inequality if they learned their history of
oppression and wanted integration. While having different ideas, all of them played a key role in
the civil rights movement. None of this would be possible without the works of Phillis Wheatley,
David Walker, and Frederick Douglass. Similarly to the future leaders, Wheatley, Walker, and
Douglass have different ideas on how to combat the oppression in that time. Phillis Wheatley broke
the mold when she had her work published, being not only a woman, but also the first African

were even born. This translates into her writing and stylistic choices. In order to be published,
Wheatley needed to be conservative and safe in her writing but of course; she found a way around

The first option again is for the heir to take annual installments over the beneficiary s life
expectancy, the stretch method. The second option does not include a five year rule. Instead, the
heir can continue the original distribution schedule using what would have been the age and life
expectancy of the deceased owner. The IRS states that the second method is the default method if
the beneficiary does not make a selection or the IRA custodian does not name the other method as
the default. As previously mentioned this is also the default if the estate is named as

49. Gianlorenzo Bernini s The Ecstasy Of Saint Teresa
The Ecstasy of Saint Teresa is an architecture of the Baroque period in which light was used to
convey spiritual meaning upon this sculpture. It was sculpted from 1647 52 by Gianlorenzo Bernini
for the Santa Maria della Vittoria, in Rome, Italy. This architectural piece is made out of marble.
One way that the sculpture uses light to convey spiritual meaning is through the allegorical
depiction of a dove in the background, which represents the light of the Holy Ghost. Another way
that the sculpture conveys spiritual meaning by using light in the content is through the gilded
stucco rays that surround the angel and Teresa. The artist, Gianlorenzo Bernini, used the structure
of the church to provide light to convey a spiritual meaning on his sculpture.

52. Literary Devices InThe Sound Of Thunder, By Ray Bradbury
Watch Out! As they fight for their survival. In the short story, The Sound of Thunder, by Ray
Bradbury, is about a man going into a time machine to hunt a T Rex. He was traveling along with
his other companions through the time machine to meet the T Rex. They ended up encountering
many obstacles as they re on their journey. Although people don t pay attention to what they re
doing even if it s the smallest things, it can lead up to a consequence as shown in literary devices
such as; simile, metaphor, and repetition.
At first, Bradbury uses simile as a way to illustrate a comparison of unlike things reflecting to the
character s actions. Simile is an expression comparing one thing to another using the words, like,
or as. In the short story, Eckels and the company travelled back 60 millions years ago. Travis
warned everyone to not step off the path, and began to talk consistently about the consequences if
you would step off the path. As Travis was talking about the consequences, it was brought up that
if you step on a mouse, and you leave your print, like a Grand Canyon, across Eternity (Bradbury,
22). This shows us that Travis said this, but meant that if you make any changes in the past, even
the smallest ones, it can result into something disastrous in the future. It compares the effects of
stepping on a mouse to that at the Grand Canyon, which shows the resemblance. This is one of the
many similes used, but another comparing literary device is used as well in the

53. The Pros And Cons Of Organ Transplants
A major obstacle to obtaining an organ transplant today is that donated organs is the very limited
supply of organs, while the waiting lists are very long (Jenkins, Reilly, Schwab, 1999). Organ
transplants vary in the type of organ needed, and some are more limited than others. Unfortunately,
many individuals pass away waiting on the list rather than living a fulfilled life after receiving their
donated organ (Jenkins, Reilly, Schwab, 1999). Due to the indefinite wait on the transplant list, the
controversy has emerged about who should be allowed to receive one. It is understandable that
some individuals and families of those waiting on the list become frustrated. There are opinions that
anyone with a known substance abuse issue should not have access to a donated organ, especially if
they do not have plans to cessate their addiction post transplantation. However, others may feel that
everyone is equal and no matter what circumstances, that they should have equal opportunity to
obtain a transplant. In order to comprehensively cover the controversy, we will first discuss
supporting points of organ transplants for current substance abusers. Hepatitis C and alcoholic liver
disease are both leading causes of liver transplantation in the United States (Koch Banys, 2001).
Liver transplantation in alcoholic patients was well established, but there was limited research on
the practices and policies regarding past or current substance abuse at the time of liver transplant
(Koch

The Significance of Pulpit in the Church Architectural Settings
Introduction
The term Church Architecture refers to the architectural buildings of the Christian churches and
cathedrals, which evolved over two thousand years. The churches have witnessed varied styles of
architectural buildings from the early period of the birth of Christianity till today. Some of the most
significant church architectural buildings are from the church architectural designs of Byzantium,
Romanesque Abbey churches, Gothic Cathedrals, and Renaissance Basilicas. Till today, the
architectural building styles of the early church ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The word Pulpit is derived from the Latin word pulpitum meaning platform or an elevated stand
of stone or wood for the preacher or reader to stand on. Pulpit is essentially a place where
something important happens in the church. Generally in almost all churches, pulpit is used for
preaching, whereas in some churches pulpit is used both for preaching and reading of scripture. In
early Christian times, ambo was used for preaching instead of pulpit, and lectern, a speaker s stand
in the church, which means to read was used for reading scriptures by laymen, and also used for
announcements, and to lead congregation prayers.
Every Christian believes that God speaks to us through the proclamation of his Word; hence, the
place where the Word is proclaimed should be one of the focal points in the church. Some argues
that it is not essential and necessary to have two places for proclaiming the Word (i.e. pulpit and
lectern). In fact, many people prefer to have only one place for proclaiming the Word since having
two platforms confuses the congregation and also having lectern and pulpit were often limited to
wealthy congregations since many cannot afford it. Robert S. Brightman writes on the pulpit and
lectern

Backgrounder: Later School Start Times. Later School Start Times: Benefits Cons. N.p., n.d. Web.
17 Nov. 2015. .
This article by the National Sleep Foundation describes how adolescents today are not getting
the recommended amount of sleep and in return do not perform appropriately or at their
maximum level at school. Through different scientific studies it was discovered that adolescent
NATURALLY fall asleep at 11 P.M. or later. One study looked at the melatonin secretion in
patients and how it occurred later at night in adolescents. Through research the National Sleep
Foundation has urged schools to synchronize school clock with student body clocks (If teens
naturally fall asleep at 11 P.M. and require 9.5 hours of sleep, school should start approximately at
9:00 10:00 A.M., 1 to 3 hours after current SC school start times). This sources supports my claim
to start school later and provides support research about the negative aspects of sleep deprivation in
adolescents and the importance of reforming school start times
