Implementing Erp Systems And Software Packages
Industries globally, whether public or private sector are shifting way out from developing
Information Systems in house and are implementing ERP systems and many readymade software
packages. ERP packages are known for business operating system that enable better resource
planning and deliver value added products and services to customers. ERP automate core corporate
activities such as manufacturing and the managementof financial and human resources and the
supply chain.
It has seen numerous commercial ventures evidently keep on overlooking the issues and issues
experienced all through the implementation of ERP cycle, as proof by suggesting that, more than
40 percent of application development project get unsuccessful, and 90 percent of ERP executions
wind up late or goes for over spending plan lastly 67 percent of enterprise software activity could be
viewed as negative or fizzle. The prior implementation, current implementation and the post
implementation phase continue in the lifetime of the ERP. The initial implementation are
subsequent revisions, transcend which is normally considered application or system maintenance
work.
An ERP implementation plan provides the clarity of the implementation process. This
implementation focus on the costs, scope and time restraints of the application. The ERP
implementation can be seen in three ways:
1.This choice is a comprehensive ERP integration plan, proved to be most costly and time
consuming plan. This plan also contribute to

Sleep Apne An Essential Part Of Everyday Life Essay
Introduction and Pertinent Anatomy and Physiology: Sleep is an essential part of everyday
life. It is one of several components which help keep us alive. However, a significant percentage
of the human population has difficulty reaching and maintaining Stage IV within their sleeping
patterns, the stage that allows the mind and body to fall into a deep and restorative sleep,
known as REM sleep. This is a condition known as obstructive sleep apnea, a serious, potentially
life threatening condition that is far more common than generally understood (Sleep Apnea
n.d.). Obstructive sleep apnea can be very dangerous if it is not properly detected and treated.
Nearly 18 billion Americans today (or 1 out of every 5) have a form of sleep apnea. About 4% of
people are undiagnosed (or 1 out of 50). It can occur in all age groups and different sexes. (Sleep
Apnea n.d.) What is Sleep Apnea? Apnea means without breathing. In many cases apnea is
caused by tissue in the back of one s throat that collapses. Sleep apnea is an involuntary cession
of breathing that occurs during sleep. We have four stages of sleep and the fifth being your REM
sleep also know as rapid eye movement. In short stage 1(one) is considered light sleep, stage 2
(two) eye movement stops and the brain waves become slower, in stage 3 (three) brain waves still
continue to become slower and considered deep sleep, stage 4 (four) also is called the deep sleep
phase, and last REM sleep is when breathing becomes more rapid,

Shamanism
Shamanism is an ancient healing tradition, which allows us to communicate with nature. I believe
this is strongly related to the imagination, which is a unique ability that human possesses. It allows
us to discover and explore new ideas. Shamans use the drum to shift the state of consciousness or to
move energy. During the visualizations, this definitely helped me shift my consciousnessto an inner
peace. Through Grey s visualizations, I learned how to calm and clear my mindand I also discovered
how creative I am.
It is important to have a calm and clear mind to understand it. Before the visualizations I calm
myself by breathing deeply, sitting comfortably in my chair, and release any tension in my body.
Also, by turning the lights off, this creates a more calm and relaxing environment which helps me
achieve a sense of tranquility. These elements are very important for me in order to fold up my

This journey was really easy for me to visualize. I felt like I was in a Disney movie, where I was

They were helping me find the healing image, for which I came for. Unfortunately, I was not able

these visualizations helped me realize that I have creative abilities and despite the fact that I am in
Science and somehow restricted to this world.
To sum up, Grey s visualizations helped me calm my mind and express my creativity that was

The Complexities of Prosecuting Cyber Crime Essay
Cyber crime and traditional crime have similar identifiable traits when criminal activity is the
outcome. The goal of any criminal is to cause harm, threat steal, extortion, to name a few with intent
to harm the public good. Local and state law prosecutes traditional crimes through the state attorney.
The prosecutorrepresents the people(entity) of the state. The defendant or the entity charged must
prove to the state, by reasonable doubt, their innocent s of the charges. Individuals that are charged
with a crimehave the option of hearing their case in front of a judge or a jury. The prosecution can
also offer the defendant a plea bargain deal. These deals usually lessen the punishment while also

Microsoft had brought charges against two members of the Zeus Botnet crime ring in 2012.
However, two individuals were already in jail serving time for spreading Zeus malware in the
United Kingdom. As part of the Microsoft Active Response for Security (MARS) program, the
company filed a lawsuit against a group of unknown defendants identified as John Does in the
original complaint for violation of a number of civil statutes. The two defendants were identified
as, Yevhen Kulibaba and Yuriy Konovalenko, and amended the complaint (Lemos, 2012 ). Since a
case was already brought against the two suspects and the crime organization. It was a going to be
a challenge for Microsoft to file charges for basically the same crime.
What Microsoft was able to accomplish according to the Microsoft Senior Attorney for Microsoft s
Digital Crimes Unit, Richard Boscovich was the reduction of Zeus botnet occurrences. Microsoft
was able to shutdown 800 domain accounts and to servers located in the united states from
spreading the botnet.
Last year, federal prosecutors charged a cyber crime ring with stealing prepaid debit cards data. And
using that data to draw unlimited amounts of money from ATM s ,Loretta Lynch, the U.S. Attorney

A good teacher has not only a knowledge of early childhood education, but the ability to empathize
with children and to give personalized care and attention. Early childhood is a highly diverse field
that serves children from birth through age 8. During these years, children participate in different

Escherichia And Gram Staining
Most bacteria are classified as either gram positive or gram negative. Gram positive is a purple stain
and gram negative will appear pink or red. Gram negative can cause many kinds of infections.
One type of bacteria is Escherichia which is a rod shaped bacteria. A Gram stain is used in lab
setting to identify what type of bacteriais present. A sample is placed in a nutrient media and
incubated. This media will encourage bacteria growth present. This process allows for further
testing and to identify what kind of bacteria is present to allow for appropriate treatment.
Bacillus are rod shaped, prokaryotic cells, they form spores (gram positive and gram negative) on

Luxury Brands
Minor Project Synopsis

Attitude of Young people of India towards Luxury Brands
Introduction:
A couple of generations ago, a typical purchase decision for the average Indian would be choosing
between, say, clothes and electronic goods whenever they had a little cash to spare. Today, the
customers dilemma involves making up their mind between Prada and Gucci, Merc and
Lamborghini. Marie Antoinette would say, If they can t have bread, give them brands instead!
In a relatively short time span of 20 years, India has moved from pavement markets to swanky
malls, from frugal minded consumer to who want it all and from a population largely obessed with
celebrity gossip to one which yearns to gain knowledge. India is taking ... Show more content on

In this study the researcher investigate, Indian consumer migration towards Luxury brands form
value middle tier brands. The findings suggest that there is significant difference with the gender
difference, social status, price, quality to purchase a luxury good. There is a higher association
between the annual household income and Purchase of luxury goods
It clearly says that affordability, quality, availability, celebrity, self satisfaction, image and social
status are the key drivers to the migration of consumers to Luxury brands from value middle tier
branded goods. It confirms the view that brand perception and purchase value is, apart from
socially oriented motives of buying to impress others also affected by financial, functional, and
individual aspects. It would seem that the dimensions presented in this paper are appropriate
variables for segmenting the market for branded items.

Three of my friends were dead! A fourth seriously injured, in surgery. Had they died because we

would they have simply killed me first, before I had a chance to engage them? A warrior and

sometimes called equalizers for a reason. If we had stayed, would we have merely died too? I

Thesis On Liberal Arts Education
As the world is becoming more specialized, lots of institutions do not cease questioning the role
of liberal arts education in equipping proficient students. Nowadays, one can hardly say that the
liberal arts should be tossed aside. In fact, liberal arts education appeals more and more people, as
it helps develop critical thinking, obtain independence and bring up a citizen of the democracy. As
the liberal artsis a synthesis of several elements, it provides a broad base of knowledge by shaping
one s mindset and formulating a nonstandard intellectual position. As the articles suggest, the
liberal arts education helps obtain a full picture of the world and prepares to overcome any
hardship by endowing a personwith creative and analytical thinking. It also teaches focus and self
expression. (Roth, 2014; Keohane, 2012; Guo, 2015) These skills are shaping the mind so that the

Plot Points In Mean Girls
Acts and Plot Points
In class we learned that any script can be built up in to four parts, the parts being Act 1, Act 2,
Act 3, and the Ending. Act 1 is when the hero makes a wrong choice and it brings them to a
decision where they have to act to achieve their goal, it sets up the premise and is the beginning of
the story. Act 2 follows with a series of events that prevent the characterfrom achieving their goal.
Act 3 is when the hero confront their flaw in order to save them. And finally, the ending is an
opportunity for the audience to see what the hero learned through this experience. Every script can
be broken up in to three acts.
The introduction of Mean Girls begins by introducing Cady and setting up her character. We quickly
learn that she is a transfer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(One interesting thing is that the script has four goals, the fourth goal being her skanked out
clothing but the director clearly took out the fourth point. The main reason that I find this so
interesting is because of how prominent the idea of having things in threes is so much more
appealing to audiences.) Throughout the film it becomes evident that this large goal, built up
with three smaller goals is a challenge, but is achievable. Cady struggles with accomplishing it
by having some events set her back but in the end she is able to achieve it. The third part of a
goal is that it needs to have the character using her strengths in order to accomplish her goal.
Well, if Cady s strengths are her kindness, well, this becomes clear when Cady recognizes that she
is in the wrong and becomes self aware of how she has been influenced. She takes this and turns it
around and shows kindness to the other girls at prom as well as to the mathletes. These four points
to the goal are evident throughout the goal, therefore this script has a good goal that the audience
can support in which the protagonist try to

A Clean Well Lighted Place
In A Clean, Well Lighted Place , Hemingway uses themes of depression and life as nothingness by
using symbols, and imagery. Two waiters in a Spanish cafГ© are waiting late one night for their
last customer to leave. As they wait, they talk about the old, deaf man sitting at the bar. It is
revealed that he has recently attempted suicide. The younger waiter in the cafГ© is very agitated
and wants the old man to go home. He says, I wish the suicide attempt had been successful. The
younger waiter says that he has a wife waiting for him at home, and is very unsympathetic. The
older waiter sympathizes and tells the young waiter that the old man had once had a wife as
well. The old man eventually leaves when the young waiter denied him any further drinks. The
old man explains that drinking in the cafГ© is completely different than drinking at home. He
describes the old man as, One of those who like to stay late at the cafГ©... with all those who do
not want to go to bed. With all those who need a light for the night. He is reluctant to close
because there could be a lot of people that may need the cafГ©. The older waiter points out that
the bright atmosphere of the cafГ© is different than that of a pub. After the younger waiter leaves,
the older one asks himself why he needs a clean, well lighted place. The answer is that he needs a
contrast of order because of a nothing that

Analysis Of Understanding Sam Shepard
Sam Shepard is widely recognized as one of the most celebrated dramatists in American literature.
Characterized by stylized, complex language, lyrical and elaborate dialogue with very little context
or explanations, his style involves revealing secrets, opening hidden areas of one s identity, and a
continuous search for conclusions to satisfy (Author Last name for Understanding Sam Shepard, 1).
The effect of his surreal techniques, open ended structure (where anything can happen) and
exploration of complex worlds and characters makes him one of America s most creative,
thoughtful, and challenging playwrights. In True West, Sam Shepard explores a complex world
where confrontation between brothers, attitudes toward life, and the myth of the... Show more

Shepard uses foreshadowing early on giving us a hint that there will be a role reversal when Lee
comments to Austin saying, I ll just turn myself right inside out. I could be just like you then,
huh? and then a few lines later telling Austin, I always wondered what d be like to be you (P. 886
887). Austin and Lee s role reversal becomes even clearer in the beginning of scene seven. While
Lee is working on the screenplay, a drunk Austin states that Saul Kimmer thinks Austin and Lee are
the same person. This seems virtually impossible at first as the brothers look nothing alike, but Saul
does not mistake them by their appearance, as he mistakes them based on their function in the
creative process. One thing to note is that Saul Kimmer and the opportunity he represents is the
catalyst for this transformation between Austin and Lee. Thinking about the beginning of this story,
Austin was a confident individual and somewhat accomplished. However, when Kimmer agrees to
produce Lee s projects instead of Austin s, an inward conflict is created. Austin completely loses
that sense of superiority he once showed. We can see Austin s transformation as he loses that
connection he had with his inner self. Austin seems to doubt his abilities when he says, There is
nothing real down here, least of all me (p. 902) After Austin s transformation begins, we see him
searching for his identity as he repeats the personal pronoun I repeatedly

Estate Planning Research Paper
Creating an estate plan remains one task every individual should complete, regardless of how

Summary Of The Reclaiming The American Dream Report
In the Reclaiming the American Dream report (AACC, 2012), seven recommendations were
suggested to meet the needs of the students, as well as having a strong community college system.
Hence, these recommendation address redesigning students educational experiences, reinventing
institutional roles, and resetting the system to create incentives for students and institutional
triumphs.
Recommendation One A section of recommendation one is to increase completion rates of students
earning community college credentials (certificates and associate degrees) by fifty percent by
2020. (AACC, 2012 p. 26). Although recommendation one is certainly obtainable, completing the
goal by 2020 is doubtful. As an administrator, in order to see a goal this large come to
manifestation, everyone has to get on the bus, and asking the same question who instead of what
then, and only then will a goal this large will manifest ( Collins, 2001). However, utilizing
particular strategies to accomplish the goal will help toward achieving the goal. In doing that,
students would be served more effectively and more efficiently, because staff and faculty would be
more intentional regarding the service rendered. Affective academic advising is an essential and
sure way to promote students retention (O Banion, 1997). In addition, using strategies to construct
coherent, structured pathways to complete degrees, promote transfers from community colleges to
four year institutions, and to assist students

The Laramie Project
In Moises Kaufman s, The Laramie Project the under lying theme of the novel is people are afraid
of change. This can be proved from the novel with the character Cathy Connolly and the struggle
that homosexuals have to live in there own society. The juxtaposition of anti gay demonstrations
sparked by religion at a homosexual s funeral, and even the physical setting is related to why
people are afraid of change. Whether it is start by homophobia, religion, or opression, people are
not just afraid of change in general but change for a free society where homosexuals can express

you can see that Phelps and his followers are afraid of change. Fueled by Phelp s religion that
being gay is a sin, the religion he preaches further opresses homosxuals. Religion plays a large
role on homophobia within Laramie itself. Reverand Phelps was preaching the word of his god,

homosexuality is being a fag okay? What do you mean it s not for you to judge? If God doesn t

in homophobia in societies all over the word, in alot of religions to be gay was different and
being different really meant you were condemed, because anyone who believes in a religion will

Dante s Influence On The Divine Comedy
The impact of cross cultural interactions between Islam and Western Europe, specifically Italy is
seen through many mediums: paintings, murals, literature, etc. One such literary work that
illustrates the influence Islam had on Medieval Italy is Dante Alighieri s, The Divine Comedy. The
purpose behind The Divine Comedy is a source of dissention among scholars exploring the
relationship between medieval Italyand Islam. The obvious purpose seen and discussed about The
Divine Comedy is its representation of the Christian afterlife and a warning to wayward Christians
and nonbelievers. The influence of the Bible is seen specifically in part one and part three of the
epic poem: The Inferno and Paradise, which illustrates the Christian hell and... Show more content

The idea that Dante s Divine Comedy was a burlesque of Prophet Muhammad s Ascension is
another argument made on the epic poem s primary purpose. Although there are many
interpretations of Dante s Comedies, the epic poems origin can be credited to Dante s eclectic
taste and more specifically in his use of the Mi raj (Prophet Muhammad s Ascension) and the Isra
(Nocturnal Journey). This paper will argue the utilization of the Mi raj and the Isra as the
paradigms for the style (descriptive language), structure, and mysticism in Dante s Inferno and
Paradise.
First, as aforementioned there are numerous interpretations of The Divine Comedy but for the
purpose of this paper we will discuss it in two forms: the praising of Islamic influence and the
parodying of it, in order to illustrate the overall influence Islam had on Dante s Divine Comedy. To
begin with, Dante Alighieri did have ways in which he could have obtained and have understood
the Mi raj and the Isra. Islamic imperialism throughout North Africa, Spain, South France, South
Italy, Balearic Isles, and Sicily, the culture transmission between medieval Europeand the Muslim

Junk Food Stamps
Junk food is a type of food that you can practically buy anywhere in the United States. It provides
you with something to fill up your stomach for a short amount of time while you try to find
something nutritious. The food stamps let you buy almost any food available that is not cooked.
Some people of the U.S. do not have a stove or microwave to make foodthey just buy junk foodto
fulfill their hunger. Food stamps should be able to buy any food from the store.
When people are having a busy day they tend to pick up any snack whenever they feel hungry.

Air Purifiers Advantages
Air Purifiers and Their Benefits.
You may wonder, How do I choose the right air purifier? Each air purifier has its own
performance and technical characteristics. Air purifiers are extremely useful for people with
respiratory diseases such as asthma or allergies and also for people who want to fight against
pollution or bad odors.
I invite you to consult the many opinions on air purifiers. There are now high performance air
purifiers perfectly suited for size, performance and budget for homes and small spaces. Air purifier
efficiency depends on certain criteria.
Obviously, the level of effectiveness of the purifier and its speed of treatment depend on the state
of pollution of the air and its dimensions. This is to be taken into account in the choice of the
device and its use. Air purifiers will help you breath clean air, year round.
Initially, air purifiers were found only in industries to filter and remove toxic residues. If the quality
of the air is not excellent, the body must fight to eliminate this pollution and the most fragile people
often develop respiratory diseases (allergies, asthma, cancers, etc.) whose source is certainly partly
due to this pollution (although other factors may come into play).
According to the WHO, formaldehyde (the best known reason for indoor pollution) is present in all
homes of the world at levels of concentration harmful to health. The WHO also indicates that
naphthalene, benzene, nitrogen dioxide, formaldehyde, carbon monoxide, trichlorethylene, radon,
tetrachlorethylene and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons are present in many homes. Pollution that
is biological in nature is caused by bacteria, molds, viruses, pollen, etc.
Pollution that is biological in nature is frequently made worse because of humidity, heat, poor
housekeeping and hot water and air conditioning installations. These issues promote the
proliferation of biological agents, which increases the risk of diffusion in the environment. This is
frequently the case for indoor pollution because it is particularly difficult to prevent.
Purifiers promise to filter most of these indoor pollutants. Providers of air purifiers believe that
their mission is to provide relief, because air pollution affects

Introduction In the recent past, we cannot deny that the media industry has experienced
monumental growth both in terms of revenues and global expansion. Like other businesses, such as
banking and manufacturing, the media business has enjoyed globalized operations to expand and
grow, becoming one of the biggest conglomerates in the world. World media has proactively

This allowed media businesses to undertake both horizontal and vertical integration. Horizontal
integration is where a business diversifies its operation by owning subsidiaries of different
sectors (Deloitte 2012). For instance, Time Warner is known print media, news networks and
movie productions houses. On the other hand, vertical integration can be defined as businesses
owning a business with one main stream of business or practice. Thus, loosening of cross
ownership restrictions gave room for business to expand to different units and to the global
market. A new approach to media business that emerged was the convergence of business.
Convergence of business is where two, proportionately big firms, join to share audience as well as
brand names (McChesney 2001). A notable case of convergence in the U.S. media industry was
the convergence between AOL and Time Warner. While other convergences have also been
experienced, the economic results have been mixed. The AOL merger experienced difficult
economic conditions that they later preferred to de converge. In all loosen restrictions on laws has
provided for media to explore all sorts of business arrangement. Zero Government Intervention The
United States government has always taken pride in itself as one of the most liberal government in
the world. The term liberal has been used in the sense that the government adopts a hands off policy
towards the content and the manner in which media houses are run. To this end, the

Operation Barbarossa Essays
OPERATION BARBAROSSA
The invasion of Russia was the largest military campaign of the Second World War. Operation
Barbarossa, as it was known, was launched on 22 June 1941 and completely took Russia by surprise.
The widening war raging in Africa and eastern Europe were key distractions for Hitler from his
ultimate goal of attacking Russia.
Although the British army remained undefeated in the west, Hitler s goal proved an urgency for
him to begin moving on the east. Whilst planning was made throughout 1940 for the invasion of
Russia, time was favorable towards the Russians and they continued to mobilize their resources and
strengthen their defense forces.

The German army once again succeeded here, with the Ukraine being captured along with 600 000
Russian prisoners. With this success, the push for Leningrad and Moscow began once again,
however the situation began to change with autumn rains slowing advances and winter creeping up.
It was during the Russian winter that German troops entered Leningrad and began a 3 year siege,
however the city never fell. At the same time, one army group reached the outskirts of Moscow but
by December night temperatures fell to below 50 degrees, German soldiers lacked adequate
clothing, fuel froze in the tanks, weapons jammed and the armies were struggling for supplies. It
was then that the Russian army, reinforced with troops from the Eastern front, launched a major
counter attack and drove the Germans back 150 kilometers back before they stabilized their line.
In the course of the invasion, the Russians had lost over 5 million soldiers and Germany over 1
million, but the German campaign still failed.
Though there is not one single causing factor, the Germans had underestimated the Russians who
had men to spare and were encouraged by Stalin s message of Nationalism where he called on to
defend Mother Russia against the invaders. Germany s military strategy was also flawed as there

Voltaire s View Of Oppression From The Authority
It is dangerous to be right in matters about which the established authorities are wrong.
Voltaire
The struggles against authority, repeatedly and continuously, take place in the history. As for those
fighters, Voltaire, a famous French writer and thinker, once put forward an idea, It is dangerous to
be right in matters about which the established authorities are wrong. () The word right contrasting
to wrong means the truth. An established authorities could be regarded to the dominant powers
controlling and guiding people, such as long existing conventions held and propagated by the power
holders or the influential experts in specific fields. The article will support the idea of Voltaire by
providing sufficient and concrete evidences. It is reasonable that people might suffer the possibility
of oppression from the authority, when the ideas of the former contrasts to the latter who tend to
retain its status. The challenger is dangerous in the way that the power of authorities, at most time,
overwhelm them; the characteristic of opposing ideas invites the oppression by authority. It is
possible to receive potential danger from the authority, while some did succeed in the struggle.
It is obvious that the comparison between two power is usually dismatched. The opponents are
often overshadowed by the authorities, in turn, the opponents are weaker, two aspects in particular.
Convention gets in the way of innovation and rebellion. It also restricted by the contemporary

Hall through that door. I observed a lot of social activity when they entered. First off, what struck
me is that the difference in classes was immediately distinguishable. It was not simply by the
midshipman s variance of insignia, but there was also a dramatic difference in mood. The

the upperclassmen tended to break the freshmen down as individuals and build them back up as a

shock! As I looked around, I discovered that most, if not all, upperclassmen were cordial to the

The Heroes Of The American West
Every society has its heroes, and often those heroes are identified with a group which is revered
and idolized for its bravery in defense of the noble objectives of the society. In the American
West, that group has for many years been the Cowboys. Whether defending women and children
against the threats from Native American Indians or other armed villains, or participating in one
on one duels (or draws) against the outlaws, the Cowboys have been regarded as warriors who are
the symbols of protection and heroism. In Arthurian society, that role of warrior was played by the
Knights. There are many parallels between the modern Cowboy and the medieval Knight, and I

They needed such a large hat to protect their faces from the sun while riding in the western heat.
The bandana around their necks was to help them breathe amid all the dust, and the chaps on their
pants were to help them ride their horses and carry their guns. Anyone who sees a picture of a
person attired in this way immediately identifies that person as a cowboy and associates them with
characteristics of adventure and bravery.
The same can be said for the medieval Knight. In Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, Sir Gawain s
armor is described in great detail by the author to emphasize the importance of it. When Sir
Gawain is leaving to go face the Green Knight, he is described putting on, the great pile of gilded
war gear glittered...complete with knee pieces, polished bright and connecting at the knee with
gold knobbed hinges. All the decoration and gold accents on his armor signify how important
and wealthy he was. To indicate his status as Knight, he carries his shield with a pentangle. The
Pentangle is proper to this prince of knights...therefore it goes with Sir Gawain and his gleaming
armour...Gawain was reputed good and, like gold well refined, He was devoid of all villainy,

specifically by name and honor. These appearances of the Knight and Cowboy became so
recognizable that they became symbolic. The mere mention of a Cowboy s hat

Aeneas Definition Of Justice Essay
Plato, in the Republic, seeks to define justice while showing how justice is worthwhile and good in
itself. To him, justice is mainly centered around the idea of fulfilling appropriate roles. He
describes what justice is like in both the city and the individual, and appeals to human psychology
through this analogy. In Book IV, Plato completes this analogy by introducing justice
within the
individual. He claims that justice in the city parallels justice in the individual. Justice for the
individual, according to Plato, is about the fulfillment of appropriate roles and the relationships
among them. The question is if Aeneaslived a justly life or was he unjust. The focus I will have

Plato s definition again reuttered says, Justice as an individual is about the fulfillment of
appropriate roles and the relationships among them. Aeneas easily fulfills his role and more.
Aeneas could have given up and not gone through and abandoned his people from the beginning
when he was in sorrow that his people died but again it shows here that he in modern
terminology, sucked it up . In Book I it says, So, ran the speech. Burdened and sick at heart, He
feigned hope in his look, and inwardly contained his anguish. (Aeneid I). This quote showed that
even though Aeneas was saddened by the falling of his people that he had to hold it in and keep
strong to continue to guide and comfort his people in this time of disbelief and discomfort. There
is clear evidence that Aeneas was just in his actions but there are reasons that he could be
considered unjust but the evidence is substantially weaker in comparison to him being

Analysis Of Theodore Roethke Root Cellar
In Theodore Roethke Root Cellar , there is a heavy use of vivid and stylistic imagery. In the first
line, the speaker states, Nothing would sleep in that cellar, dank as a ditch. We are given that
something is refusing to sleep that is, to die and at the same time being dank gets us thinking
about things that are undead . In line two, the speaker states, Bulbs broke out of boxes hunting
for chinks in the dark. This tells us that things are still growing and they are looking for the light.
In the next following line the speaker mentions, Shoots dangled and dropped (3). This gives us
the image of the shoots coming out of the bulbs. The shoots dangle and droop towards whatever
light possible. In line four, the speaker gives us an idea of the type of housing they are in,
mildewed crates. The moisture creates mold and mildew. It also creates prettier life like plants.
As you can see, mold and mildew are life, and they grow alongside the plants. In line six, the
speaker brings us a smell by saying congress. Roethke must mean just the coming together or
gathering of smells. In line seven, the speaker give us another sense of smell, Roots ripe as old
bait, pulpy stems, rank, silo rich, leaf mold, manure, lime, piled against slippery planks. He gives
us this image and the sense of smell of mold and rot to show it is still life. These words for
example would be ripe, pulpy, rank, and rich. The last two lines, Nothing would give up life: Even

Human Control And Its Effects On Modern Society
History is the sum of the events that result from human control going well or bad. Myriad times in
history have there been instances where control or power has been given to a person and their
control is beneficial or detrimental to a society. In The Early History of Rome, author and historian
Livy writes how human control has played out in Roman civilization, one of the most influential
societies of Western civilization. By writing this vivid history, Livy demonstrates that when human
control is given, the best outcomes result when humans act selflessly instead of selfishly. According
to Livy, therefore, historical knowledge helps us develop a more collectivistic view of our modern
society in order to maintain morality in them. The story... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

pure courage to protect the people and troops of the Janiculum as a whole. Just as the unknown,
Chinese man defended himself and others by blocking a line of army tanks in their path during

reaction her escape had on Porsena, who ended up admiring her courage (Livy, 124). Cloelia could

The Forceful Effects Of The Trail Of Tears
The Trail of Tears refers to the forceful relocation and eventual movement of the Native American
communities from the South Eastern regions of the U.S. as a result of the enactment of the Indian
Removal Act in the year 1830. In the year 1838, in line with Andrew Jackson s policy of the
Indians removal, the Cherokeecommunity was forced to surrender its land to the east of Mississippi
River and migrate to the present day Oklahoma. This journey was referred to as the Trail of Tears
mainly due to its devastating effects it had to the Indian people. The migrants faced extreme
hunger, diseases and exhaustion due to the forced march while more than 50,000 people died
(Cave, 2003). The Trail of Tears resulted in a devastating effect for the Indians such as extreme
hunger, diseases and exhaustion due to long walk and massive injustices and abuse of fundamental
human rights.
According to Perdue (2008), the Trail of Tears is regarded as one of the tragic eras in the U.S.
history mainly due to the forceful relocation of the Indians. This is also considered as the beginning
of the Indian extermination by the U.S. government even though they had lived in the country
several centuries before the white settlers set their foot in America. After the American Revolution
and the eventual creation of the U.S., the Indians were regarded as a separate nation within a
sovereign country even though they were fully committed to a peaceful coexistence with the white
settlers. However, the white

The financial system has been crucial to the role of free enterprise. Financial markets have come to
supply non financial corporations with mechanisms for managing their risks and for comparing and

However, despite the lifetimes it took to build our financial institutions, bad luck and careless risk

The ongoing plunge in bank capital is already forcing banks to significantly cut back on outstanding
loans, and businesses plans for major investment projects are being scaled back. These capital losses
are resulting in financial institutions going bankrupt or merging with stronger banks. Financial

unbearable, short term loans pose a greater threat to the survival of the financial system. The
fourth and final threat facing our economy is the necessity of short term loans. In an effort to
reestablish tangible capital, banks are beginning to cut back on short term loans. If the short term

Green is the color of nature; it symbolizes freshness, fertility, and holds with it a strong emotional

USA s Copyright Law
Copyright Law
1. Copyright law offers copyright holders the exclusive right to reproduce, distribute, and publicly
perform copyrighted work (Carnes). The copyright holder has the authority to govern how the
copyrighted material is distributed by giving specific permissions in writing. Without a specific
written permission, no one has the rights to distribute or sell the copyrighted work.
By selling collections that contain the whole program of the copyrighted material, Software of the
Month Club (SOMC) is selling the copyrighted material without permission from the copyright
holder, Cybersell Impact, Inc. The claim of endorsing and distributing the shareware as performing
a service for the creators infringes the copyright law because of the distributions of the whole
program. The copyright laws allow a small portion of copyrighted material to be used for socially
beneficial purposes, but not the whole program. And, there was a restriction on the distribution that
allowed the sample portion to be distributed without charge to users. The actual charging of the
software and the fact of the whole program being distributed violated the copyright laws and the
restriction of the copyright holder.
The behavior that is being encouraged by the copyright laws and the judges in this case is to treat
each other fair and with respect. If the copyright holder gives permission, then it is ok to distribute
and sell, depending on what is actually granted in the written permission. By not

The Alternatives to Coronary Bypass Surgery
What are the alternatives to Coronary By Pass Surgery
Introduction
In 2006, more than 690,000 open heart surgeries were performed in the United States. These
included surgeries to correct and repair defective valves as well as coronary artery bypass surgery.
As recently as 70 years ago, these surgeries would have been impossible. The heart lung machine
had yet to be invented, allowing surgeons to temporarily stop and start the heart. Prior to its
invention, the longest a heart could be stopped was 30 to 40 minutes not enough time to complete
extensive surgery (Smith, 2009). Since then, a number of minimally invasive surgical procedures
have been introduced that permit surgeons to perform a variety of surgeries, making smaller
incisions that leave smaller scars, reduce the chance of infection, are less painful to the patient
and necessitate shorter hospital stays. These include minimally invasive direct coronary artery
bypass, off pump coronary artery bypass, videoscopic surgery and robotic assisted heart surgery.
In minimally invasive heart surgery, cardiac surgeons perform heart surgery by way of small
incisions in the right side of the chest, as a substitute to open heart surgery. Surgeons operate
between the ribs and don t split the breastbone, which consequences in less pain and a faster
recovery for most people. In minimally invasive surgery, the heart surgeon has a better view of
some parts of the heart than in open heart surgery. As in open surgery,

You can easily choose a ripe banana because it contains a high percentage of potassium and then
peel it from bottom to top, then rub your teeth in the inner part of the crust for two minutes or until
all your teeth become sticky substance inside the crust. After rubbing your teeth well, you can use
toothpaste to remove the residue of the material obtained from rubbing your teeth with bananas.
4 Get rid of the warts
Potassium also has a great ability to get rid of the warts in the skin, especially the face. Because
bananas are rich in potassium, a mature banana skin is used and placed from the inner side of the
face and paste with a medical adhesive, then left on the face overnight. After removing them in the
morning you will find amazing results as if nothing was.

Homeless Man Research Paper
Once upon a time, there was a man who owned a large house with a lush vegetable garden in the
front yard. During the night, a homeless man snuck onto his property and began to pick carrots
to eat out of the garden. The homeless man, hunger fulfilled, decided to live in the owner s
garden shed and hide in fear of being caught by the owner. In the morning, the owner checked his
crop and noticed the missing carrots, but disregarded it, at first, though it was his only source of
produce. Over time passed, the homeless man would eat vegetables out of the patch, but cared for
and watered the crop with the owner s tools. One day, the owner finally found the homeless man,
whom was stealing his crops and trespassing in his yard. He was angry with the

An Academic Critique Of A Research Article By Karen L....
This paper is an academic critique of a research article by Karen L. Gischlar and Joanne P. Vesay
entitled: Literacy Curricula and Assessment: A Survey of Early Childhood Educators in two States.
I was attracted to this article because being an early educator myself, I know how important literacy
instructions is in the early years. It intrigued me to read about the types of curricula and assessment
used by other educators to assess young children learning. The purpose of the article was to survey
early childhood educators regarding their literacy practices and the assessments implemented in
their classroom. However, the goal was to determine to what extent preschool teachers addressed
literacy skills areas through classroom instructions. (Gischlar Vesay 2014, p. 298). The authors
believed that teachers should be using literacy curricula to teach literacy skills and get proper
training in how to monitor students progress. If such curricula are not being implemented, then
explicit instructions in early literacy instructionshould be conducted daily. This paper will provide a
critical review of the methods used, the result of the study and the authors discussion of the article.
In the article, the authors stress the importance of literacy educationin the early years. In fact, it is
noted that pre school years are critical to the development of early literacy skills that will lay the
foundation for future reading skills and help present problems from developing (Gischlar

All Men Are Created Equal By Thomas Wwain
Commonly, people believe that Thomas Jefferson is a hypocrite, due to the fact that one of his
most famous quotes is all men are created equal . Although that was one of his famous quotes, he
owned slaves all throughout his lifetime. The topic over slavery including Thomas Jefferson is
extremely controversial today in America.
In each excerpt, each author clearly addressed the issue of presentism. In Wilson s excerpt he
addressed the issue of presentism by, considering the time eras as well as the dilemmas that
Jefferson faced. Wilson wrote that Jefferson knew that slavery was sinful, but freeing the slaves
when they had been slaves their whole life was not the logical answer. In Finkelman s excerpt he
addressed the issue of presentism, because he said Jefferson fails the test . There was not a literal
test, but based on Finkelman s belief and attitude toward the past, Jefferson failed Finkelman s
test. In our present day, our principles do not allow majority of Americans to presume, that
Jefferson owning slaves and pushing the belief that all men are created equal, is not hypocritical.
Majority of the people in America today would perceive Thomas Jefferson as a deceiver and would
not take him seriously. Both authors, Wilson and Finkelman, use the ethical standard that slavery is
wrong to evaluate Jefferson. They use the evidence that Jefferson was a slave owner. Wilson thinks
that Jefferson meets the ethical standard in his era. He believes that, although slavery is

George Pullman s Influence On Social Darwinism
Social Darwinism is a term to describe the idea that humans compete for existence just like the rest
of the animal kingdom. Darwin used this term to attempt to rationalize racism, capitalism, and
imperialism. It simplifies the human s desire for power. Now it is widely discredited and
scrutinized because its a rejection of compassion and social responsibility. (1)
These tycoons of business figured out how to use social darwinism to their benefit. Theywere
ruthless in the business world but were credited for creating big business and a booming economy
in the US. The so called robber barons were nothing but businessmen who knew what they were
doing and used it to their advantage.
George Pullman was an American industrialist and inventor. His father moved buildings out of
the way of the Erie Canal. George took over the business in 1853. Later he won a contract with
the state of New York to move 20 buildings out of the way. After this he came up with the idea to
manufacture and lease railroad cars on the growing railroad industry. After being unsatisfied with
sleepers and passenger cars, he created the Pullman Sleeper. These cars were immediately successful

Essay on The Evolution of the Image of Women in Sports
The Evolution of the Image of Women in Sports
1. Through the readings, films, and discussions, we have looked at the image of women in sport.
Discuss the images of women in sport and how they are affected by today s cultural ideal of women.
All of the films that we watched provided different perspectives on how the image of women is
situated in our culture. From the first movie, Dare to Compete, which highlighted the development
of women s participation in sports, to Love and Basketball, which fully accepts women s
participation in sports, we examined a range of views and opinions on the proper role of women in
sports.
Dare to Compete presented images of women in sports over many years, highlighting the evolution
of female ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The women in Bend it Like Beckham had to deal with cultural stereotypes against women in
sport. Jess mother had strictly confined ideas of how a woman should look. She did not approve
of Jess playing soccer, but if she did it was important for her to keep her legs covered. The issue
that comes up repeatedly in this movie is the popular notion that women will not be perceived as
women if they are sporty . Jess mother is afraid that men will not be interested in her because of her
athleticism and Jules mother blames her daughter s lack of a boyfriend on her participation in the
soccer team. Although the two mothers represent different cultures, both of their cultures state that
female athletes are not feminine or desirable. They are certainly not normal. I think one of the
important distinctions in this film is that, while there are certainly many who uphold that belief,
there are many others who see and appreciate female athletes. Even Jess father come to appreciate
her athleticism by the end of the film.
An important moment in the film occurs when Jules mother mistakenly believes that Jules is a
lesbian. Although this is humorous in the film, it shows that the image of female athletes is still
equated with the image of homosexuals. I think this once again is rooted in the misguided belief
that no one in mainstream society would find a female athlete desirable.
In Girlfight, the protagonist, Diana, seems to be determined to fight

The Quilt In Everyday Use By Alice Walker
Everyday Use is one of Alice Walker s short stories which published at 1973. It tells about Mama,
Maggie and Dee. Mama and Maggie lived in the middle of pasture and both of them are still
bound to their family tradition, and Dee is Mama s educated daughter. The story tells the arriving
of Dee along with Hakim A Barber. When they re about to eat, Dee asks a few goods from Mama
and one of them is the Quilt. Quilt in the story is their familyheritage. The presence of Dee along
with her knowledge and the quilt itself represent an Irony as an element of literature. The story
shows that Dee s knowledge can transform in to an irony because she doesn t have a true
understanding about the heritage and the family tradition itself. First, it is provable... Show more

Dee also thought the same, but her knowledge makes her has a different perspective with the
quilt. She thought that she knows what to do with their family heritage more than Mama and
Maggie. She thought that family heritage should be preserve in order to make it unbroken. She
was afraid that the value of the quilt would disappear if the quilt becomes an everyday use. So,
she would hang it, as if that was the only thing to protect the quilt (Paragraph 71, 72). Her thought
to protect the quilt is actually inversely with the rule of the family history. Mama said that the quilt
is belongs to Maggie because Mama thought that the quilt should become an everyday use, not to
become an object to be displayed. Dee thought that Mama and Maggie do not understand about the
value of the quilt and their heritage (Paragraph 79, 80, and 81). But the truth is Dee who doesn t
have a true understanding with the family traditions. Viewing it as a Museum s object is disregard
the real family traditions.
Then, what makes the story becomes more ironic is when Dee, along with her knowledge said to
Maggie that she has to make something new for herself. She thought that she respects their heritage,
but on the other hand, she also said that Maggie should go out of the ancient and old fashioned
ways of thinking and living (Paragraph 81). It means that, Dee told Maggie not too bound to their
culture and family

Cognitive Dissonance Theory Of Smoking
Growing up I was never one for exercising let only eating healthy. Bad habits don t die easily and
soon enough as I got older they took their toll on my body. As grew not only vertically but
horizontally instead of changing my habits I only continued them. I merely changed the way I
looked at the problem by embracing the love for my naturally curves instead. Despite not only the
public looking down on hefty women but with the further disapproval of my family that the
dissonance began to weigh more. Things only progressively got worst when I was medically
diagnosed with mild obesity. It was only then that the cognitive dissonancemade me begin to
change my behavior. Cognitive dissonance theory explains the contradictions we have with our
behaviors and beliefs but it can also be used to get us to have positive behaviors.
Cognitive dissonance theory was created by Leon Festinger and to better explain his theory he
used the topic of smoking. He showed how the contradiction is so clear and uncomfortable that
something has to give either the use of cigarettes of the belief that smoking will [harm] (Griffin
et al., 2015, p.201). Cognitive dissonance in a nutshell is a contradiction that causes us stress. It
is when we act in ways that go against what we believe and the strong presence we have on the
matter the greater the stress we have. Festinger (2015) describe it the distressing mental state one
feels when one finds themselves doing things that don t fit with what we believe or what the public
approves of (p.200). An extreme example of this is the high one gets from taking drugs but the
disapproval the community might have for it. With dissonance creating a stressful mental state we
naturally want to avoid it by either change our behaviors or our beliefs.
Cognitive dissonance can have either positive effects or negative ones on a person s being. In the
Glatz, Stattin, Kerr study they considered the health and behavior of parents who find their youths
drinking. Generally underage drinking is looked down upon in the community and even in the eyes
of the law but studies have shown that parents reduce control and support in response to youths
drinking (Glatz, Stattin, Kerr, 2012, p. 629). Glatz et al

D Day And The Effect On Bedford

D Day and the Effect on Bedford, Virginia How can a small county have such a significant loss,
and still recover immediately after and in the future? D Day took a big toll on the population of
Bedford, Virginia on June 6, 1944. The events of D Day still influence this small community today.
Germany invaded northwestern France in 1940; however, the Americans entered the war in
December 1942 and formed an alliance with Britain. Adolf Hitler was aware of the threats of
invasion and put Erwin Rommel in charge of defense operations (History.com). In January of 1944,
General Dwight Eisenhower became commander of Operation Overlord. Since Britain and America
were Allies, they used the alliance to deceive the Germans. They made the Germans think they were
attacking Pas de Calais instead, they attacked Normandy. They also made the Germans think that
Norway, as well as other locations, were potential targets (History.com). The Allies used many
tactics to help with the deception, like fake equipment, a phantom army, and fraudulent radios. June
5th was the original day for the invasion. Unfortunately bad weather caused the attack to be
postponed until the next day. On June 6th, at dawn, the Allied troops invaded Western Europe from
the sea. The Allied armies spent several months preparing for this large amphibious attack. In
addition, air attacks were used to keep German forces from moving troops in to protect the

Jackson Pollock Action Painting Analysis
The final artist for your consideration is Jackson Pollock, who invented a form of Abstract
Expressionist painting called Action Painting. This kind of painting is called action painting
because the painter tries various means of action and by working from different angles throws the
paint to the canvas along with the movement, creates canvases. (Hajali, 2) As such, Pollock
expresses more emotional character without any depictions. When you view them, your eye can
not land on one spot, there is no beginning and no end. The alpha and omega are lost in an
explosion of color and movement, which layers itself in depth, emotion, and creation specifically
designed by the artist to look haphazard. More aptly stated, Pollack s works are not... Show more

Similarly, this can be seen in Jackson Pollocks painting Blue Poles which introduces random
structure that is neither in the forefront or background but appears to emerge in the viewers field
of vision, which is considered an evolution of the artists talents as discussed on James Presley s
ArtBlog. This new inventive subconscious style of painting, like the artist himself, is an enigma,
which has inspired untold creativity in other artists ever since Jackson Pollock s popular discovery.

Selma HasicMidtermDr.BanksBRONCHITIS Bronchitis is the inflammation of the mucous

mucus lining of these airways can become irritated and swollen; the cells that make up the lining
may leak fluids in response to the inflammation. Bronchitis most often occurs during the cold and
flu season usually coupled with an upper respiratory infection. Bronchitis can be divided into two
categories: acute or chronic each of which has distinct etiologies, pathologies, and therapies. I chose

Bronchitis usually results from a viral infection, so antibiotics aren t effective but your doctor
may prescribe an antibiotic if he or she suspects that you have a bacterial infection. If there is a
chronic lung disorder involved or if you smoke, our doctor may also prescribe antibiotics to reduce
your risk of a serious secondary infection. Cough medic ine suppress a cough that brings up mucus
because coughing helps remove irritants form your lungs and air passages. Over the counter
medicine may help if your cough keeps you from sleeping. If you have COPD, your doctor may
recommend an inhaler and other medications to reduce inflammation and open narrowed passages
in your lungs. Some side affects of traditional treatment for bronchitis are: shortness of breath, rash,
hives, itching, swelling of lips, face, or tounge, and in more severe cases fainting. Although research
on the use of alternative medicine in bronchitis treatment is limited, there are some remedies which
may be helpful in soothing symptoms: 1) Slippery Elm helps relieve sore throat and cough
associated with bronchitis. The herb contains mucilage, a gel like substance thought to calm
irritated or inflamed tissue. 2) Pelargronium Sidoides extracts of the Pelargonium Sidoides plant

Act 1 is when the hero makes a wrong choice and it brings them to a decision where they have to act to achieve their goal, it sets up the premise and is the beginning of the story. Act 2 follows with a series of events that prevent the characterfrom achieving their goal. Act 3 is when the hero confront their flaw in order to save them. (One interesting thing is that the script has four goals, the fourth goal being her skanked out clothing but the director clearly took out the fourth point. The main reason that I find this so interesting is because of how prominent the idea of having things in threes is so much more appealing to audiences.) Throughout the film it becomes evident that this large goal, built up with three smaller goals is a challenge, but is achievable. Cady struggles with accomplishing it by having some events set her back but in the end she is able to achieve it. The third part of a goal is that it needs to have the character using her strengths in order to accomplish her goal. Well, if Cady s strengths are her kindness, well, this becomes clear when Cady recognizes that she is in the wrong and becomes self aware of how she has been influenced. She takes this and turns it around and shows kindness to the other girls at prom as well as to the mathletes. These four points to the goal are evident throughout the goal, therefore this script has a good goal that the audience can support in which the protagonist try to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Two waiters in a Spanish cafГ© are waiting late one night for their last customer to leave. As they wait, they talk about the old, deaf man sitting at the bar. It is revealed that he has recently attempted suicide. The younger waiter in the cafГ© is very agitated and wants the old man to go home. He says, I wish the suicide attempt had been successful. The younger waiter says that he has a wife waiting for him at home, and is very unsympathetic. The older waiter sympathizes and tells the young waiter that the old man had once had a wife as well. The old man eventually leaves when the young waiter denied him any further drinks. The old man explains that drinking in the cafГ© is completely different than drinking at home. He describes the old man as, One of those who like to stay late at the cafГ©... with all those who do not want to go to bed. With all those who need a light for the night. He is reluctant to close because there could be a lot of people that may need the cafГ©. The older waiter points out that the bright atmosphere of the cafГ© is different than that of a pub. • 15. Analysis Of Understanding Sam Shepard Sam Shepard is widely recognized as one of the most celebrated dramatists in American literature. Characterized by stylized, complex language, lyrical and elaborate dialogue with very little context or explanations, his style involves revealing secrets, opening hidden areas of one s identity, and a continuous search for conclusions to satisfy (Author Last name for Understanding Sam Shepard, 1). The effect of his surreal techniques, open ended structure (where anything can happen) and exploration of complex worlds and characters makes him one of America s most creative, thoughtful, and challenging playwrights. Shepard uses foreshadowing early on giving us a hint that there will be a role reversal when Lee comments to Austin saying, I ll just turn myself right inside out. I could be just like you then, huh? and then a few lines later telling Austin, I always wondered what d be like to be you (P. 886 887). Austin and Lee s role reversal becomes even clearer in the beginning of scene seven. While Lee is working on the screenplay, a drunk Austin states that Saul Kimmer thinks Austin and Lee are the same person. This seems virtually impossible at first as the brothers look nothing alike, but Saul does not mistake them by their appearance, as he mistakes them based on their function in the creative process. One thing to note is that Saul Kimmer and the opportunity he represents is the catalyst for this transformation between Austin and Lee. Thinking about the beginning of this story, Austin was a confident individual and somewhat accomplished. However, when Kimmer agrees to produce Lee s projects instead of Austin s, an inward conflict is created. Austin completely loses that sense of superiority he once showed. We can see Austin s transformation as he loses that connection he had with his inner self. Austin seems to doubt his abilities when he says, There is nothing real down here, least of all me (p. 902) After Austin s transformation begins, we see him searching for his identity as he repeats the personal pronoun I repeatedly ... Recommendation One A section of recommendation one is to increase completion rates of students earning community college credentials (certificates and associate degrees) by fifty percent by 2020. Air purifiers are extremely useful for people with respiratory diseases such as asthma or allergies and also for people who want to fight against pollution or bad odors. I invite you to consult the many opinions on air purifiers. There are now high performance air purifiers perfectly suited for size, performance and budget for homes and small spaces. Air purifier efficiency depends on certain criteria. Obviously, the level of effectiveness of the purifier and its speed of treatment depend on the state of pollution of the air and its dimensions. This is to be taken into account in the choice of the device and its use. Air purifiers will help you breath clean air, year round. Initially, air purifiers were found only in industries to filter and remove toxic residues. If the quality of the air is not excellent, the body must fight to eliminate this pollution and the most fragile people often develop respiratory diseases (allergies, asthma, cancers, etc.) whose source is certainly partly due to this pollution (although other factors may come into play). According to the WHO, formaldehyde (the best known reason for indoor pollution) is present in all homes of the world at levels of concentration harmful to health. The WHO also indicates that naphthalene, benzene, nitrogen dioxide, formaldehyde, carbon monoxide, trichlorethylene, radon, tetrachlorethylene and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons are present in many homes. These issues promote the proliferation of biological agents, which increases the risk of diffusion in the environment. In both of these instances, morality overpowered dangerous consequences and circumstances and created a positive outcome. His collectivistic actions were significant enough for Livy to write about. Just as Horatius Cocles displayed a great amount of courage and selflessness for others, Cloelia, a hostage in captivity of the Etruscans, also showed much courage and leadership. Leading a group of other female hostages along with her, she passed the Etruscan guards, and swam her way across the Tiber River to return her fellow hostages to the Roman side. The Forceful Effects Of The Trail Of Tears The Trail of Tears refers to the forceful relocation and eventual movement of the Native American communities from the South Eastern regions of the U.S. as a result of the enactment of the Indian Removal Act in the year 1830. In the year 1838, in line with Andrew Jackson s policy of the Indians removal, the Cherokeecommunity was forced to surrender its land to the east of Mississippi River and migrate to the present day Oklahoma. This journey was referred to as the Trail of Tears mainly due to its devastating effects it had to the Indian people. The migrants faced extreme hunger, diseases and exhaustion due to the forced march while more than 50,000 people died (Cave, 2003). The Trail of Tears resulted in a devastating effect for the Indians such as extreme hunger, diseases and exhaustion due to long walk and massive injustices and abuse of fundamental human rights. According to Perdue (2008), the Trail of Tears is regarded as one of the tragic eras in the U.S. history mainly due to the forceful relocation of the Indians. This is also considered as the beginning of the Indian extermination by the U.S. government even though they had lived in the country several centuries before the white settlers set their foot in America. After the American Revolution and the eventual creation of the U.S., the Indians were regarded as a separate nation within a sovereign country even though they were fully committed to a peaceful coexistence with the white settlers. Financial markets have come to supply non financial corporations with mechanisms for managing their risks and for comparing and evaluating diverse investment opportunities in a highly complex global economy (Cindin, 2008). However, despite the lifetimes it took to build our financial institutions, bad luck and careless risk management have jeopardized careers and mortgaged these institutions futures (Wallace, 2008). The ongoing plunge in bank capital is already forcing banks to significantly cut back on outstanding loans, and businesses plans for major investment projects are being scaled back. These capital losses are resulting in financial institutions going bankrupt or merging with stronger banks. Financial services companies have cut more than one hundred thousand jobs this year and deeper layoffs may come (Berenson, 2008). Even while cutting back on long term loans seems to be unbearable, short term loans pose a greater threat to the survival of the financial system. The fourth and final threat facing our economy is the necessity of short term loans. In an effort to reestablish tangible capital, banks are beginning to cut back on short term loans. If the short term commercial paper and money markets were to break down, the economy could go into a severe collapse because solvent and profitable businesses would be unable to attract working capital (Sachs, 2008). This kind of collapse in financial liquidity is the basic reason why the United States economy fell by around twenty five percent during the Great Depression (Sachs, 2008). Ofelia s traumatic young experiences are influencing her imaginary gateways to new worlds. In this movie, Guillermo del Toro uses different elements of film style to get an insight of Ofelia s vivid and detailed imagination of how her imaginary world is much preferred over her realistic world. The colors turned dark and as the whole place went shadowy showing the misery of Ofelia s realistic world as she dies slowly. Suddenly, bright yellow lights pervaded the scene as Ofelia turn into Princess Moana. Del Toro s slight change of color had created two completely different worlds, one where imagination provides immortality, and a realistic one where death is not an option. The Alternatives to Coronary Bypass Surgery What are the alternatives to Coronary By Pass Surgery Introduction In 2006, more than 690,000 open heart surgeries were performed in the United States. These included surgeries to correct and repair defective valves as well as coronary artery bypass surgery. As recently as 70 years ago, these surgeries would have been impossible. The heart lung machine had yet to be invented, allowing surgeons to temporarily stop and start the heart. Prior to its invention, the longest a heart could be stopped was 30 to 40 minutes not enough time to complete extensive surgery (Smith, 2009). Since then, a number of minimally invasive surgical procedures have been introduced that permit surgeons to perform a variety of surgeries, making smaller incisions that leave smaller scars, reduce the chance of infection, are less painful to the patient and necessitate shorter hospital stays. These include minimally invasive direct coronary artery bypass, off pump coronary artery bypass, videoscopic surgery and robotic assisted heart surgery. In minimally invasive heart surgery, cardiac surgeons perform heart surgery by way of small incisions in the right side of the chest, as a substitute to open heart surgery. Surgeons operate between the ribs and don t split the breastbone, which consequences in less pain and a faster recovery for most people. Vesay entitled: Literacy Curricula and Assessment: A Survey of Early Childhood Educators in two States. I was attracted to this article because being an early educator myself, I know how important literacy instructions is in the early years. It intrigued me to read about the types of curricula and assessment used by other educators to assess young children learning. The purpose of the article was to survey early childhood educators regarding their literacy practices and the assessments implemented in their classroom. However, the goal was to determine to what extent preschool teachers addressed literacy skills areas through classroom instructions. (Gischlar Vesay 2014, p. 298). The authors believed that teachers should be using literacy curricula to teach literacy skills and get proper training in how to monitor students progress. If such curricula are not being implemented, then explicit instructions in early literacy instructionshould be conducted daily. This paper will provide a critical review of the methods used, the result of the study and the authors discussion of the article. In the article, the authors stress the importance of literacy educationin the early years. In fact, it is noted that pre school years are critical to the development of early literacy skills that will lay the foundation for future reading skills and help present problems from developing (Gischlar ... Although that was one of his famous quotes, he owned slaves all throughout his lifetime. The topic over slavery including Thomas Jefferson is extremely controversial today in America. In each excerpt, each author clearly addressed the issue of presentism. In Wilson s excerpt he addressed the issue of presentism by, considering the time eras as well as the dilemmas that Jefferson faced. Wilson wrote that Jefferson knew that slavery was sinful, but freeing the slaves when they had been slaves their whole life was not the logical answer. In Finkelman s excerpt he addressed the issue of presentism, because he said Jefferson fails the test . There was not a literal test, but based on Finkelman s belief and attitude toward the past, Jefferson failed Finkelman s test. In our present day, our principles do not allow majority of Americans to presume, that Jefferson owning slaves and pushing the belief that all men are created equal, is not hypocritical. Majority of the people in America today would perceive Thomas Jefferson as a deceiver and would not take him seriously. The issue that comes up repeatedly in this movie is the popular notion that women will not be perceived as women if they are sporty . Jess mother is afraid that men will not be interested in her because of her athleticism and Jules mother blames her daughter s lack of a boyfriend on her participation in the soccer team. Although the two mothers represent different cultures, both of their cultures state that female athletes are not feminine or desirable. They are certainly not normal. Even Jess father come to appreciate her athleticism by the end of the film. An important moment in the film occurs when Jules mother mistakenly believes that Jules is a lesbian. • 51. Cognitive Dissonance Theory Of Smoking Growing up I was never one for exercising let only eating healthy. Bad habits don t die easily and soon enough as I got older they took their toll on my body. As grew not only vertically but horizontally instead of changing my habits I only continued them. I merely changed the way I looked at the problem by embracing the love for my naturally curves instead. Despite not only the public looking down on hefty women but with the further disapproval of my family that the dissonance began to weigh more. Things only progressively got worst when I was medically diagnosed with mild obesity. It was only then that the cognitive dissonancemade me begin to change my behavior. Cognitive dissonance theory explains the contradictions we have with our behaviors and beliefs but it can also be used to get us to have positive behaviors. Cognitive dissonance theory was created by Leon Festinger and to better explain his theory he used the topic of smoking. He showed how the contradiction is so clear and uncomfortable that something has to give either the use of cigarettes of the belief that smoking will [harm] (Griffin et al., 2015, p.201). Cognitive dissonance in a nutshell is a contradiction that causes us stress. It is when we act in ways that go against what we believe and the strong presence we have on the matter the greater the stress we have. Festinger (2015) describe it the distressing mental state one feels when one finds themselves doing things that don t fit with what we believe or what the public approves of (p.200). An extreme example of this is the high one gets from taking drugs but the disapproval the community might have for it. With dissonance creating a stressful mental state we naturally want to avoid it by either change our behaviors or our beliefs. Cognitive dissonance can have either positive effects or negative ones on a person s being. In the Glatz, Stattin, Kerr study they considered the health and behavior of parents who find their youths drinking. Generally underage drinking is looked down upon in the community and even in the eyes of the law but studies have shown that parents reduce control and support in response to youths drinking (Glatz, Stattin, Kerr, 2012, p. 629). Observe the separation of the mixtures and their component substances. Learning how to compute the percentage a component makes up of the overall mix. The mixture contains iron filling, sand, benzoic acid, and table salt. From the visual observation of the mixture, it looks like it has a large amount of benzoic acid crystals compared to the others. Procedure: For this experiment, I used paper cups, 50 mL beaker, burner, the stand, weighted scale, magnet, and the mixture of solids to separate sand, salt, iron and benzoic acid. The materials that were necessary for this experiment were included in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With the magnet they were separated quite easily. When almost boiling the sand, salt and benzoic acid, it didn t seem like I was doing the right things. I could see the remnants of the benzoic acid floating inside the beaker. It seemed like they were separated just fine, but not necessarily dissolved. When doing the filtration part, the paper also was hard, because the crystals from the ben, acid were already forming making it quite difficult to get everything out of the cup. It took me some time for the salt to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
