Importance Of Writing Reflection
When I had signed up for this class, I thought it was going to be similar to a humanities course. I
thought that we would be learning about how journaling has evolved and various ways to journal.
As the class progressed, I found it to be more of an art than a humanities class. When this reality
did not match my expectation, I was disappointed. I had to challenge myself to get the most out of
this course by changing my attitude and adjusting my perspective.
As an art class, this would have been an excellent idea and well executed. Being able to learn
about different materials, binding techniques, and adhesives were helpful in the creation of
journals, but it was not what I had expected. One thing that stands out to me was the research
paper, it just did not seem to fit into the class very well. Most of the students did not know how
to use Chicago Style referencing properly and there was not any class time allotted to learning it
nor to working on the essays. It seemed to be used to check a box rather than to help our
understanding. I think that this essay would have fit into the course much better if we had been
spending time in class learning about various historical journalists and how their work impacted the
region in which it was created. It just did not seem as though our homework matched our class
work, so I was a little thrown off. This imbalance was especially apparent because the room was
deemed technology free, so we could not even work on our essays while in class.

improvements of our youth criminal justice system Essay
When thinking about youth crime do you envision a country with a high rate of young offenders,
gang activity and re offending? Or do you envision a country with a significant increase of young
offenders either being successfully reintegrated into society, or helped by a community when
seeking forgiveness for a minor offence that they have committed? Since the passing of Bill C 7 or
the Youth Criminal JusticeAct on February 4, 2002 by the House of Commons, many significant
improvements have been made in Canada s youth criminal justice system on how to handle and
care for young offenders. Some of the reasons why Bill C 7 was passed in Canada was because
the bill before it, Young Offenders Act, had many problems and suffered large amounts

These measures usually involve small group gatherings consisting of the offender, the victim and a
third party at a community based level; the process of Extrajudicial Measures must usually remain
incomplete until a reasonable solution is negotiated between the three parties. Although the Young
Offenders Act allowed the use of alternative measures or diversions (Philip Rosen,2000) also
known as Extrajudicial Measures as in the YCJA, little details were given as to their purpose or to
what constitutes appropriate use of these measures. According to statistics by Cheryl Engler
Shannon Crowe (2000), For every 10,000 youth in Canada, 135 participated in alternative measures
(highlights). These Statistics clearly show the lack of knowledge on these measures as they
represent the amount of times the courts have implemented them. In order to clarify when and why
these methods are supposed to be implemented, parliament further detailed the term alternative
measures within the Youth Criminal Justice Acts renaming the term to Extrajudicial Measures.
Police reported data show that charges were laid or recommended against 42% of youth accused
of a Criminal Code offence in 2006, while 58% of youth accused were given a warning, caution,

1984 Controlling The Mind Analysis
In 1984 by George Orwell, Big Brother uses fear and lies to control its citizens and their thoughts.
They are constantly being monitored using Telescreens, so everything done or said is recorded by
Big Brother and used against them. O Brien, an inner party member, tricks Winston Smith into
believing there were other people like Winston who oppose Big Brother. O Brien tells Winston that
his thoughts and memories are delusions that never occurred. O Brien later explains that Big
Brother controls all, including reality itself. Reality is what someone feels and experiences so it s
possible that Big Brother controls reality by controlling the mind.Reality is what is perceived to be
true, but what exactly is the truth when someone controls your mind. In science, reality is a
theoretical notion of understanding that can never be proven. In the Copenhagen Interpretation
from the school of quantum mechanics, reality does not exist without an observer to observe it so
in relation to 1984, by controlling the observer (the proles) Big Brother can control what they
observe. We control matter... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Freeze you stop what you are doing and focus on the fearful stimulus. Next you experience
either fight or flight where you decide to confront your fear, or work around it. When the fear is
overwhelming, you experience fright: You neither fight nor flee; in fact, you take no action. Being
continuously in fright can lead to hopelessness and depression. Big Brother relentlessly keeps its
populace in fright resulting in them feeling helpless and worthless. In our world there will be no
emotions except fear, rage, triumph, and self abasement. (O Brien 267). Big Brother s control is so
immense no one dares to resist constant suppression and subjugation. Today our governments

Reflection Of Art
Art is all around the world and everywhere we go and has been since the beginning of time. Most
of the early artworks was visual arts, such as paintings, sculptures, printmaking and many other
things. The purpose of art is the creative way to express our emotions to empower or inspire
people, or it could bring out different emotions within ourselves, depending on how you look at
it. Many of the art pieces have a story to tell or it can express the state of mind and feeling of the
artist when the art was produced. Art is here today and will be tomorrow as well because art is
now a part of our society. For my three pieces of artworks to write about, I chose an artist that has
many art pieces in many galleries. His style is absolutely creative and different. Nothing like I ve
ever since before. The first painting I observed is by an artist who has been a street artist since
1985, Gary John. He grew up in Seattle but moved to Venice, California in 2003 and began
selling his art pieces on the boardwalk. One art piece of his that I found interesting is 31st street
in 3 D , 2015. The 41 x 29 inch art is drawn on a paper of what looks like an architectural plan.
John drew a big 3 D, old school television with an antenna right in the center of it with black
paint. On the left side of it, he drew with red paint, repetition of circles and lines with an arrow on
the top. With the same red paint, he drew a simplified outline of a house. Rectangle shaped house
with a triangle roof top.

The Electronic Medical Record ( Emr )
Meaningful Use and its Development The electronic medical record (EMR) is the replacement of
paper manual charts and is being used all across the country. As per Hebda and Czar (2013), the
EMR is the building block of the electronic health record (EHR), which can be defined as a
longitudinal record that includes client data, demographics, clinician notes, medications, diagnostic
findings, and other essential healthcare information (p.293). The widespread use of EHR s in
America is foreseeable and inevitably unavoidable, but by no means a simple and undoubtedly an
effortless task to achieve. In an attempt to reduce costs in the introduction, conversion, and
implementation of patient health records the government has provided regulations for meaningful
use (MU) (p.280). In the attempt to improve the safety and quality of the nation s healthcare
system, the government enacted the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical
Health (HITECH) Act. The HITECH Act is part of the American Reinvestment Recovery Act
(ARRA), enacted on February 17, 2009, which includes many measures intended to modernize the
nation s infrastructure (cdc.gov.). The HITECH Act, encourages the use of EHR s meaningful use
in order to reduce the redundancy of data entry with integration and interoperability. Centers for
Medicare Medicaid Services (CMS ) and the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT
(ONC) consider meaningful use of interoperable electronic health records

Disengafication Theory Of Aging
As we age, we become more and more sedentary, this appears to be a normal part of the aging
lifecycle. We tend to shift from physical activities to more leisure activities like reading, relaxing
and thinking, and watching TV, according to one time use study up to 58% of people aged 55
and over spend the majority of their time watching TV each day (Novak 326). One may feel they
have earned the right to lounge around and become less active as they age or enter retirement, as
they have paid their dues to the working community. This sedentary life style leads to obesity, in
2008, 26.6% of people aged 60 years and older were considered obese and their decrease in
physical activity makes the body slowly decline due to neglect, putting the elderly at risk for heart
disease, osteoporosis, depression, and disability (Novak 330). Disengagement, continuity, and age
stratification theories provide some insight as to why we become more sedentary as we age:
disengagement theory is known as elders withdrawing socially as part of the natural agingprocess,
continuity is based on ones level of activity in their middle aged years and is carried into their
later years, and age stratification theory is when society expects the elders to behave in
particular way, and don t offer as many social roles for the elderly (Novak 331). As I read the

How Did The Abbasid Contribute To The Rise Of Islamic Economy
From the third to the tenth century, the Muslim world had an unchallenged economic supremacy
over the Occident and Orient. To this empire, no enemy posed a serious threat and, therefore, this
economy became the most prosperous of its time. Combined with the spread of Islam across the
world, previously sleeping agricultural and rural sectors suddenly flourished due to the
establishment of law and order among Islamic territories. When this is paired with a geographically
vast market that operated with no fear of caravans being assaulted en route, this motivated all of the
Islamic faith to do their best for their own advancement and the benefit of their society. (Source)
In addition, paper had a major impact on the Islamic economy. The discovery of the Chinese
papermaking process was faster and easier than preparing parchment or papyrus. As a result, the
use of paper spread like wildfire throughout the empire; eventually, shops began selling paper and
books. In addition, business ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Abbasid Caliphate ruled during the Golden Age of Islam(750 1258CE), this made the Abbasid
one of the most influential and longest reigning Islamic dynasties. During the Abbasid ruled Islam s
early history, it was the largest empire in the world and had contact with distant neighbors such as
the Chinese and Indians to the east and the Byzantine Empire in the west allowing ideas to be
amalgamated from each culture.
In short, the origins of the Abbasid Dynasty sate back to their overthrowing of the Umayyad
Dynasty (based in Damascus, Syria). The Umayyads had grown gradually more disliked by those
it ruled because they favored Syrian Arabs over other Muslims and treated mawali, or those who

Greek Theatre Research Paper
Theater has been around since the time of the Ancient Greek. It has been a form of social
expression and ideas for years. Theater is sometimes a dramatization of events or ideas to help
better connect the viewers with the situation at hand. I think dramas have become so important to
society due to the fact that is can be molded into many different types forms of expression. A drama
can take you into a fictional land where anything is possible. It brings people thoughts out from
just imagination to a visual performance. The need to see stories acted out is something that bring
imagination to life. No longer is it purely thought. You can see and share the idea with a large
crowd. Young or old, whether you speak the same language or not, being... Show more content on

It is a way of showing and sharing what is social acceptable in the culture. Theater is something
that is very visual and can be used to teach and pass down the skills of a certain society such as,
hunting, farming, family values, etc. Theater entertaining for both the actor and the viewers. It can
even pass on knowledge of current events such as politics. The general public is more likely to to
attend a performance about politics where there is music, masks, and other fun entities. No only is
the public viewing a play, they are learning about the different political events as well. There are
many dramas that depict different events. As societies change so does the dramas that come from
them. Native people have a rich history in their dramas. They depict hunts, spiritual rituals, and
worshipping. Asian dramas on the other hand are more related to family and country values. They
uses props, costumes, and songs in most of their dramas. Although Asian dramas may seem more
elaborate than most, they have very symbolic meaning in all the props and costumes. Even with
these differences, dramas are most widely know form a social expression throughout

Carbohydrates Shakes Isn t As Bad
8 Facts why Fat in Protein Shakes isn t as Bad as You Think
When building muscle is the goal, most athletes try to eliminate their fat intake. Fat is not bad but
an important part of everyone s nutritional needs. Despite the fact that fat is high in calories, there
are many health benefits that come from them. In proper balance and moderation, they will aid you
in your training regimen and get you stronger, more defined and keep you healthy.
1.Energy during Exercise
Twenty minutes into a workout and it feels like you hit a wall. Energy levels drop and so does
your performance. By adding a small amount of fat to your pre workout protein shake, when the
carbohydrates run out at the twenty minute mark, the body can then start to burn the fat.
The carb crash causes an increase of insulin in the blood stream followed by a rapid decrease in
blood sugar when the carbs are all used up. When fat burns, the body does not release extra insulin
and give you a sustained level of energy.
2.Hormones
Both men and women each have certain amounts of both testosterone and estrogen in their bodies.
The cholesterol found in saturated fats produces hormones. Not only does the saturated fat help
produce hormones, it helps to balance them or to raise the testosterone levels. An increase in
testosterone helps to build muscles. With more muscle mass the body burns more fat.
3.Improve Vitamin and Supplement Absorption
There are two kinds of vitamins: water soluble and fat soluble.

The Toothpaste Factory Got The Top People
Dedication To my parents, who gave me life and taught me the meaning of it. Both by accident.
Introduction Once upon a time, a toothpaste factory had a problem. They sometimes shipped
empty boxes without the tube inside. This was caused by the way the production line was set
up, and people with experience in designing production lines will tell you how difficult it is to
have everything happen with timings so precise that every single unit coming out of it is perfect
100% of the time. Small variations in the environment (which can t be controlled in a cost
effective fashion) mean you must have quality assurance checks smartly distributed across the line
so customers all the way down to the supermarket don t get angry and buy another product
instead. Understanding how important that was, the CEO of the toothpaste factory got the top
people in the company together and they decided to start a new project in which they would hire
an external engineering company to solve their empty boxes problem since their engineering
department was already too stretched to take on any extra effort. The project followed the usual
process: budget and project sponsor allocated, RFP and third parties selected. Six months (and $8
million) later, they had a fantastic solution on time, on budget, high quality and everyone in the
project had a great time. They solved the problem by using high tech precision scales that would
sound a bell and flash lights whenever a toothpaste box would weigh less

Zodiac Killer Informative Speech
I have chosen to do my informative speech on the unsolved mystery of the Zodiac Killer.
Methods I will be using to captivate my audience from the book will be word pictures, numbers,
key words, and to speak claerly. I plan on starting my speech with word pictures by setting the
scene of the 1960s 1970s, this was the time period the Zodiac Killerwas on his killing spree. This
will help them be able to picture what it was like to live back then and hopefully help them
remember my speech. I will use numbers to get my point across of how many people were killed
and affected by the Zodiac Killer during his reign of terror. This will establish logos into my
speech. I am also going to use key words to keep my audience interested and involved, to... Show

By doing this I will have established pathos and hopefully this will grab my audience s attention.
Since the Zodiac case is still considered unsolved to this day, I will let my audience decide for
themselves who they think the killer was. I will only present facts and leave my opinion out so
that it does not persuade anyone. This will establish a motive for my audience to listen to me, so
that they can figure out who the killer is. From the book, I will use different learning styles to
get my point across, I will also do something unexpected, and I will go review my main point. To
get my point across to everyone in the audience I will use different learning styles. For the
auditory learners, I will be speaking clearly, so that they can hear and understand all my
information. I will be using a PowerPoint with both words and pictures for the visual learners
and the visual print learners. Lastly for the kinesthetic learners I will ask for a show of hands of
who has ever heard of the Zodiac Killer. I will do this so that they can be involved somehow. To
keep my audience interested I will do something unexpected. I m not going to say in this paper
what I will be doing, because I want it to be a surprise to everyone. I could end my speech with
the rhetorical question now after hearing all the facts, who do you think the Zodiac Killer is? or I
could say my grandfather was the Zodiac Killer and

Literature Review Of High Flow Nasal Cannula
Literature Review High flow nasal cannula (HFNC) therapy has become a safe, useful therapy in
many types of patients with respiratory failure, improving oxygenation and comfort levels.
Oxygen therapy is the main treatment for hypoxemic respiratory failure and has been delivered
via nasal prongs or masks. The maximum flow rates that these devices can deliver are limited
due to the insufficient heat and humidity provided to the gas that s being administered. It s
accepted that flow rates up to 15 L/min can be delivered using conventional nasal prongs or
masks, and even high flow tubing, but this flow is far lower than the inspiratory flow of a
patient with acute respiratory failure. Room air dilutes the supplemental oxygen, resulting in a
significant decrease in the fraction of the inspired oxygen (FIO2) that finally reaches the air
sacks in the lungs, called alveoli. Many different HFNC devices are available, but the technique
always involves the delivery of a totally conditioned (37 В°C containing 44 mg H2O/L [100 %
relative humidity]) gas admixture via a wide bore and soft nasal prong up to 60 L/min, with a
fraction of inspired oxygen ranging from 0.21 to 1 (21% to 100%). (Roca, 2016). HFNC oxygen
therapyis a very effective modality for the early treatment of adults with respiratory failure with
diverse underlying diseases.
Physiological effect High flow with optimally heated and humidified gas is thought to have a
variety of physiological effects. Gas from an

The 1906 San Francisco Earthquake And Jack London s Reportings
The earthquake on April 18, 1906, in San Francisco is considered one of the most important
earthquakes ever. Ultimately, its main significance comes from the knowledge gained from it, not
just the size of it. It was the first large natural disaster captured with photographs. The geologists of
the time didn t know what could have caused such a large earthquake as plate tectonics wasn t a
very popular theory back then. Studying the movement and crust near the fault, Reid developed a
theory called Elastic Rebound theory, which is still used to this day to explain earthquakes (The
Great 1906 San Francisco Earthquake). Foreshocks began at approximately 5:12 AM California
time. Then, not half a minute later, the main earthquake occurred. The epicenter wasn t actually in
San Francisco, but it was close. Most of the damage in San Francisco was caused by fire which
burned the town for three consecutive days and nights. In areas along the fault line, most of the
damage was caused by shaking.
After the disaster occurred, the public had to obtain information on this earthquake from reports and
photographs, which had to be sent all across the country. One of the most influential reporters was
Jack London. His importance comes from his effectiveness in telling without pictures what was
happening in San Francisco. One of

Arsenic Pollution And Arsenic Contamination
a.Inorganic arsenic is highly toxic and a significant public health threat throughout the world. Long
term exposure to arsenic through contaminated water can lead to arsenic poisoning and a variety of
adverse health effects, including skin lesions, cancer, and respiratory and cardiovascular conditions.
However, arsenic is highly abundant in the Earth s crust and is naturally present across the world in
the air, water, and soil. Arsenic integrates into the environment with natural processes including
weathering reactions and volcanic activity, and through anthropogenic processes such as mining,
fossil fuel combustion, and utilization of pesticides.
b.Although arsenic is found throughout the environment, epidemiological studies have ... Show

In this region, high arsenic concentrations are mostly due to the volcanic activity in the Andes
Mountains. Mining is also widespread in the region, and copper smelting specifically emits arsenic
into the atmosphere. It is difficult to measure mining s impact on arsenic water contamination
because baseline natural levels were not established in the area. Overall, however, arsenic released
from mining processes settles mainly in the atmosphere, and studies have shown that drinking water
serves as the primary path of exposure of arsenic for humans, making the naturally occurring arsenic
in the groundwater a greater threat to human health in Antofagasta. ii. The Antofagasta Regionhas
an extremely arid climate and low rates of precipitation, which greatly limit water availability and
further exacerbate the effects of the natural arsenic contamination. The Loa River and its
tributaries of San Pedro, Salado, and San Salvador are the only surface water sources, but this
river is very saline and home to a range of arsenic levels. These arsenic levels naturally fluctuate
due to its natural volcanic and geothermal origins, but generally, all the concentrations are above
safe set limits for human consumption as set by the World Health Organization at 10 ug/L.

Living in Tooth Ville
Tooth Ville is a very enjoyable place; I would consider living in Tooth Ville if I was you. Tooth
Ville is an island that is a shape of a tooth, hence the name Tooth Ville . Tooth Ville has two site
factors; Tooth Ville has 3 natural harbours where food is shipped in from other countries or
cities, also many people come to Tooth Ville by water. Also since there is a lot of food being
sent in from the other countries and cities Tooth Ville has some natural resources, also Tooth
Ville is surrounded by water we have a lot of fresh water. All we have to do is filter it and we
have our fresh water. As for Tooth Ville s situation factor, Tooth Ville has markets that are usually
full since they are really close to residential areas. And we have a lot of roads and highways that
connect everything, Tooth Ville even has 2 bridges that connect to the mini islands around Tooth
Ville.
You could say that Tooth Ville is kind of like a suburban area; Tooth Ville has a lot of natural
resources so we are not like rural areas. We also don t have that much apartmentbuilding like they
do in urban areas, Tooth Ville isn t really busy that much maybe only twice in a week. Tooth Ville
has different kinds of houses; we have detached houses near the north west of Tooth Ville, there are
apartment buildings near the east of Tooth Ville, and some townhouses near the north of Tooth Ville
surrounding a park. Tooth Ville has one main highway that connects to the roads which connects to

Analysis Of The Poem Waiting At Come Onstage
Waiting to come onstage is one of the most terrifying experiences one can have. Knowing that in
around three or so minutes you will be called onstage to be judged and viewed by an awaiting
crowd of your peers strikes you to the core and puts the familiar pang of pressure and anxiety
straight into your stomach. Which takes us to the beginning of our story; enter, me, in a blonde
shoulder length wig. I am dressed in a flowing white shirt, laced with frills and puffed sleeves.
Atop my shirt lays my purple velvet cape, a cape which is made out of the same material which is
present without my purple pantaloons and my purple cap. I am Archibald, the Alright; an Idylic
and Aesthetic poet, about to secure the love of my life, Patience. I am sweating, and my heart is
beating out of my chest.
Now, in approximately one minute, I will enter the stage, and immediately begin singing a duet with
my actor partner for the night. After this song, we will speak our dialogue and then exit the stage. A
simple concept, but an experience that can wrack the mind and senses should anything go wrong,
should your flow be interrupted, or should you freeze. My lips flutter and frenzy as I mentally live
each scene in vivid detail.

The process is accentuated by my anxious fiddling with the lily precariously placed within my

What Is Iago Evil
Throughout history, people, particularly philosophers and psychologists, still cannot come to an
official answer to an important question. This question has been argued for centuries and people
still do not grasp the complexity of the word. The infamous word that people cannot grasp is evil.
Evil in a modern society can range from narcissism to psychopathy. For example, one can think of
evilcausing public shooting thus wounding or killing innocent civilians. Others can define evil
simply by doing any wrong doing. The word evil has implications in any subject field, including
literature. In the play Othello, arguably one of the most famous plays written by Shakespeare
demonstrates the act of evil. In the play, Iago, the main antagonist, wants to seek his general s
downfall. He plans on running him by manipulating his mind into believing that his wife cheated on
him. The result is Othello killing Desdemona and eventually himself. Since Iago is mastermind
behind the scheme, it raises the question on whether he is evil or not. A modern interpretation of
evil is by Hillel Steiner, a Canadian political... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To begin with, Iago ruins Cassio s reputation, who is Othello s newly promoted lieutenant, My
reputation, my reputation! I ve lost my reputation, / the longest living and truest part of myself!
/ Everything else in me is just animal like. Oh, my / reputation, Iago, my reputation. (II.iii. 250
253). Iago ruins Cassio s reputation by making him drunk and starting a brawl thus causing
Othello to break it up. This action is evil because Iago does it to show revenge since Othello
promoted Cassio rather than himself. It is clear that this motive is caused by revenge and Iago
seeks pleasure in it since he ruins Cassio again later in the play. For this reason, Iago definitely fits
into Steiner s definition of evil since the action was wrong and because Iago seeks a pleasure like

Television ratings improved significantly in first year of the CFP. According to the Los Angeles

What Is The Theme Of Crouching Tiger Lying Dragon
As the magnum opus of the martial arts novel master Wang Dulu, Crouching Tiger, Lying
Dragon have been drawing readers discussion for its intricate plots and the figures with full

2000, the comparing of two works has never stopped. What kind of adjustment did film

themes which these two works expressed? From a tragic loveto a grand Jianghu, I ll analysis the

That way, a conflict triangle was created between Yu Jiaolong, Li Mubai and Yu Xiulian. A
significant clue in the film is the Qing Ming sword; by stealing the sword and getting it back,
the conflict of the film revolves around. More than that, to make the plots more compact,
admiration and even love were added into those three characters. Firstly, the love relationships
between Li Mubai and Yu Xiulian were described into more details; different from the novel, Li
Mubai even confides his love to Yu Xiulian before he dies. Secondly, Li Mubai holds a positive
attitude towards Yu Jiaolong, even wants to take her as his pupil to tell her the truth of martial arts.
As for Yu Jiaolong, though she was not convinced to Li Mubai; at the end of the film, she
appreciates Mubai s guiding and repents, and feels guilt for his death. Some comments even
consider love has exists in their relationships at that time. This adaptation not only made the plots
more compact, meanwhile created a more drastic conflict. Thus the film showed more characters
psychological contradictions, which made the characters more vivid and easier to

Status And Social Status
It is said that humans are social beings and we want to connect with other people, therefore it
should come as no surprise that social interaction is an essential part of our everyday lives.
Social interaction is a dynamic sequence of social actions between two or more individuals or
groups and the foundation of social structures. Social structures are patterns that guide our
behaviour in everyday life and there are two building blocks of social structure, status and role. A
status is a culturally defined social position that is a part of our social identity that defines our
relationship to others. Statuses can be ascribed, achieved or master. An ascribed status is fixed and
involuntary, it is a status we are often born into such as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If we choose to become a parents, husband and wife also become father and mother and the boy
or girl born is given the status of baby. As a mother and father, each has a responsibility to love,
protect and teach their baby about right and wrong, how to speak and use language, both verbal and
non verbal to communicate. Parents have an important role as a baby s first teacher, the foundation
socialization. In Belize, as a multi cultural nation, babies may be taught by parents to speak the
language of their culture for example Mennonites may speak German or Spanish, the Garinagu
speak Garifuna and the Hispanics speak Spanish. However, as an English speaking nation,
mothers and fathers also teach their baby to speak English so that they can interact with other
people in society. Eventually as a baby grows into a toddler, an understanding develops about the
role of a mother and father and the toddler learns that parents should be given respect which
influences the interaction between parents and children throughout their lifetime. In our society
and societies around the world, children are taught from an early age to not only to show respect
for parents but to show respect for elders as well. If we were to think back to our childhood, we
would remember being afraid to answer our parent questions or commands in an ill or threatening
manner. A sure that we bid them time of day to our elders and said please and thank you.

4.8Definition of Risk
A risk is the possibility of an event or condition that would have a negative impact on a project. A
risk can be nearly anything. It can be the upcoming performance of an activity that has never been
performed before ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is important to understand that a risk is something that has previously been identified, or can
be planned for, and can be potentially mitigated. An unexpected emergency that arises on a
project like a natural disaster or the unforeseen removal of a key team member is not a risk
because it was not something that was a potential issue from the beginning. Having said that,
attempting to develop a full blown Disaster Recover Plan or to plan for the potential loss and
course of action for every possible resource isn t a bad idea. It is just horribly impractical and has
consistently proven to be a waste of time and resources for large duration projects.
According to PMTips.com, a popular online project management discussion forum; almost always,
a risk arises from an issue that is discovered or has previously been discussed by the project team
and then, overlooked.
4. Risk Management Process
There are six sequential steps in the risk management process.
1.Plan Risk Management
2.Identify Risk
3.Perform Qualitative Risk Management
4.Perform Quantitative Risk Management
5.Plan Risk Response
6.Control Risks
4.1 Plan Risk Management
Since risk management is so critical to a project s success, it is important to have a strong plan in
place before one begins. Equally important is making sure the project manager, sponsor, team,
customer and other stakeholders and experts are well informed about the project and all on the
same page.

likely result in a massacre according to the script. A sense of irony is present when they talk about

Franz Kafka s The Penal Colony Essay
In Franz Kafka s In the Penal Colony, there is no presumption of innocence whatsoever; there is
only presumption. Innocent until proven guilty. This presumption of innocence is considered to be
the foundation of a civilized criminal justice system, as well as within the fundamental rights of
mankind. The Officer says that guilt is never to be doubted, and because he was ordained the judge
of the penal colony, there is no proper trial or due process needed, as all are guilty in the eyes of the
one who judges (Kafka, p.198). If the punishments delivered to the guilty were less severe, than
there would perhaps be fewer qualms about the system, however the justice dispensed by the
machine is nowhere near reasonable or humane, dispensing grievous punishments that far exceed
most crimes to those who are condemned. However, it is important to remember that the apparatus
and its function are simply an extension of the ideology of the Old Commandant and the Officer
who are the true punishers. The punishments the officer administers through the device to the
condemned seem to be an example of just one of the two types of justice criticized in the text. The
first type of justice is the excruciating suffering wrought by the officer and Old Commandant
through the apparatus upon the naturally guilty, almost like divine punishmentraining down from
the heavens to strike down sinners. The other justice is the presumption of innocence and civilized

McTeigue uses characterisation and cinematic techniques including camera angles, light and

that force the people to fear the world without them. These laws include curfews, rethatching
free speech and getting tortured if they speak out. The media is also a way to control people
throughout their actions and behaviour, Fear is also instilled through the lies dispelled through
media sources that demonise undesirables such as Muslims, blacks and homosexuals. Example
when Chancellor Sutler uses the media for his own gain Lewis Prothero carries out orders of the
Chancellor . Chancellor Sutler is a character who is in control of the citizen s daily life in every
way. In addition camera angles are used to show his power within the state, example when
Chancellor Sutler is seen is the large in the screen, as the rest of his workers are seen small and
fearful, this symbolises that he has power over the people, by promoting the citizens to fear and
obey unlike using the media to convey his message across London as mind control . Chancellor
Sutler is message on the news becomes more unbelievable and contrived to the point where his
evil motives are obvious to the public. In the panning camera angle, when Chancellor Sutler was on

Plot Points In Mean Girls
Acts and Plot Points
In class we learned that any script can be built up in to four parts, the parts being Act 1, Act 2,
Act 3, and the Ending. Act 1 is when the hero makes a wrong choice and it brings them to a
decision where they have to act to achieve their goal, it sets up the premise and is the beginning of
the story. Act 2 follows with a series of events that prevent the characterfrom achieving their goal.
Act 3 is when the hero confront their flaw in order to save them. And finally, the ending is an
opportunity for the audience to see what the hero learned through this experience. Every script can
be broken up in to three acts.

(One interesting thing is that the script has four goals, the fourth goal being her skanked out
clothing but the director clearly took out the fourth point. The main reason that I find this so
interesting is because of how prominent the idea of having things in threes is so much more
appealing to audiences.) Throughout the film it becomes evident that this large goal, built up
with three smaller goals is a challenge, but is achievable. Cady struggles with accomplishing it
by having some events set her back but in the end she is able to achieve it. The third part of a
goal is that it needs to have the character using her strengths in order to accomplish her goal.
Well, if Cady s strengths are her kindness, well, this becomes clear when Cady recognizes that she
is in the wrong and becomes self aware of how she has been influenced. She takes this and turns it
around and shows kindness to the other girls at prom as well as to the mathletes. These four points
to the goal are evident throughout the goal, therefore this script has a good goal that the audience
can support in which the protagonist try to

Jim Jarmusch Dead Man
It is preferable not to travel with a dead man Henri Michaux
Dead Man is a 1995 film written by and directed Jim Jarmusch. This film could be viewed as the
ideal version of an acid western with its psychedelic western theme. Jarmusch utilized throughout
the film the feeling of revisionist western by utilizing the darkness that looms in the film. A
revisionist western has the ideals and styles of traditional westerns with an underlying gloomy tone,
and at some points fascinating and captivating.
Jarmusch interprets the basics of an acid western in the film by illustrating and portraying the

The Red Horses By Franz Marc Essay
The German artist Franz Marc painted the painting The Red Horses. He was born on February 8,
1880. Most of Franz Marc s influence came from his father who was a landscape artist. As a result
of this, his earliest works were painted in the naturalistic academic style. When Marc met Wassily
Kandinsky in 1910, he joined an expressionist group. Most of the colors that Franz used in his
paintings had a meaning to him or to the painting. The different aspects and the thought that Marc
put into his paintings really made them come together and become what they are now. Marc and
Kandinsky soon formed their own group, called Der Blaue Reiter. Their philosophy in painting
paintings derived from nature was that the painting itself should reflect the spiritual essence of the
object or animal as opposed to the physical embodiment. In 1912, Marc s works became more

In 1911, Germany was being industrialized very quickly, and urbanization was at an all time high.
By this time in his artistic career, Franz Marc had developed an idea of symbolism for the colors
used in his paintings. This was largely influenced by his friendship with Kandinsky. The colors
used in The Red Horses were largely naturalistic colors; there are no neon or unnatural colors. The
beginning of the 20th century in Germany was where expressionism originated. This movement
had a large impact on Marc s paintings as most of his works were of the expressionist movement.
His paintings were not focused on the physical details of the painting, but on the mood and ideas
that he was trying to relate to the viewer. Franz Marc created several paintings in the year of
1911, and a vast majority of them were related to expressionism. Marc liked nature and seemingly
normal actions that animals were doing. For example, in the painting The Red Horses, the horses
are depicted grazing, but looking deeper into the meaning of the painting, there is more to be

Themes In Twelfth Night
Understanding Shakespeare s Twelfth Night
Shakespeare s Twelfth Night is one of his most beloved plays. There are several notable themes
that construct the play that makes twelfth night a great play. Many elements within the play take
on what it was like during Shakespeare s time, while others talk about political commentary. The
play talks about the main character Viola and her disguise as a man, while looking for her brother
Sebastian. Her disguise creates a lot of misperception; many would say Twelfth Night shines light
on sexuality; however it is the reader s exploration into Shakespeare s Twelfth Night, in which they
will explore the many possible truths and understanding of the play. Exploring the themes of gender
identity, love, madness and death, readers will have a better understanding the play an how each of
the themes connect.
Shakespeare s play has allowed for many readers and scholars to speculate its deeper meanings.
The play itself focuses on Viola s disguise as a man that ends up causing confusion and unwanted
love. Yet, it s the only way Viola can find her brother. Some could say that when Olivia falls for
Viola (Cesario), Viola have questioned herself because Oliva was so in love with Cesario, even
though she tells Olivia, bluntly that she cannot fall in love with her.(). This is strange for
Shakespeare to have a woman playing a man, since in his time all the men would play the women
roles and it was perfectly normal. One can imagine during

Examples Of Masculinity In Macbeth
Manipulation, the act of controlling something or someone, is prevalent in all societies and drives
the plot of Macbeth. Shakespeare s play, Macbeth, is about a loyal soldier who commits horrible
atrocities to become king, only to be defeated in the end. Throughout the play, male characters are
influenced into doing awful acts, which they would not normally have thought to do, after having
their manliness questioned. They strive to match the stereotype of an aggressive and dominant
man. In Macbeth, Shakespeare reveals that men are manipulated into accomplishing violent deeds
in an attempt to live up to the definition of masculinity through his portrayal of male character.
Shakespeare allows Macbeth to be manipulated into violent deeds, such as killing King Duncan,
after Lady Macbeth criticizes the fragility of Macbeth s masculinity. Lady Macbeth attacks
Macbeth s manliness when she exclaims, when you durst do it, then you were a man; and be more
than what you were, you would be so much more the man (1.7.56 58). She is saying that if
Macbeth kills Duncan he can prove and convince ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Malcolm pushes Macduff to dispute it like a man (4.3.259) when Macduff mourns over the loss
of his family. He is connecting masculinity to violence and telling Macduff to take revenge and
retaliate with aggression. Malcolm pushes Macduff to convert his grief into anger, which is a
stereotypical male behavior, so that he can inflict vengeance on Macbeth. Also, at the end of the
scene, Malcolm replies that this [tune] goes manly (4.3.276) as Malcolm and Macduff set off to
kill Duncan. The violent act that they are about to commit helps secure their manhood by proving
that they are able to be manly and vicious. Malcolm manipulates Macduff into being his soldier and
killing Macbeth when he attacks Macduff s

Race And Ethnicity
This chapter focuses on race and ethnicity. Race is a socially constructed definition based on
some real or presumed physical, biological characteristic, such a skin color or hair texture, as well
as on shared lineage (p. 178). Ethnicity is socially defined like race. Socially defining race and
ethnicity is formed by the concepts of raceand ethnicity, majority minority relations, racism, and
race and entity in global context. The concepts of race and ethnicity are defined by the historically
thinking about race, racial categories, and racial and ethnic identities. Throughout time people are

Ethnic identifies seem to be blurring together because of globalization, some say, but some think
ethnicity is not that easy to get rid of. Racism isn t just in the United States, but throughout the
entire world. Race and ethnicity both flow around the world faster today due to the ease of
moving place to place. There are still barriers to flows. Minorities have a harder time moving
around because of racism and discrimination. Ethnically conflict happen with expulsion, ethnic
cleansing, and genocide. Expulsion is removing a group of people from a territory, either directly
being removed or voluntarily leave on their own. Ethnic cleansing is the establishment by the
dominant group of policies that allow or require the forcible removal, abuse, and even murder of
people of another ethnic group (p. 195). Genocide is the act of trying to completely eliminate an
entire minority group, being the most aggressive ethnic

Song Analysis Of ILl Be Missing You
I ll Be Missing You I ll Be Missing You is a rap ballad by Puff Daddy and Faith Evans featuring R B
group 112. This song was written in memory of renowned rap artist Christopher Wallace who
many may also know him as Biggie Smalls, Big papa, or The Notorious B.I.G. He was gunned
down and murdered in Los Angles in March of 1997. Almost immediately following his death, Puff
Daddy and Wallace s widowed wife, Faith Evans, team up to say their farewells. What started out
as a tribute to Wallace, ended up having a much bigger impact on the world than expected. On
March 9, 1997, Christopher Wallace s life was cut short at the age of twenty four in a drive by
shooting in Los Angles. Wallace was a close friend to Puff Daddy and husband to Faith Evans.
Distraught by Wallace s death, they wanted to perform a song in memory of him and also to
help gain closure for their selves. Within the past decade, Hip Hop has become increasingly
sought after both in popular music and in a genre of its own. When Puff Daddy released the
song it went above both the genres of rock and hip hop. The song, I ll Be Missing You , features
leading vocals from Wallace s widowed wife, Faith Evans, and background vocals from the famous
R B group, 112. Wallace and Evans did not write the song, I ll Be Missing You was actually written
by multiple people. He took the lyrics from a Brooklyn rapper Todd Sauce Money Gaither. Todd
Gaither did receive a Grammy award in 1997 for his lyrics. The chorus sung

Obese children struggle with making friends and keeping up with other children, however, people
can use this to their advantage to help the child become healthy. Children with these emotional

Essay On The Federal Budget Process
The Federal budget process is like our budget but federal, the federal budget can be compared to
a personal budget. A personal budget allows and individual to limit and spend a certain amount
of money or on household items, goods and services. The government s budget works in the
same way as our s does, the government has to spend their money in three different areas, these
area are mandatory spending, discretionary spending, and interest on debt. If the government

to stay within our limited budget. The government has a policy for the federal budget process, this
policy is called the fiscal policy. The fiscal year is a twelve month period that keeps account for
how much money the government spends within that twelve month period. The year begins on...

  • 2. Importance Of Writing Reflection When I had signed up for this class, I thought it was going to be similar to a humanities course. I thought that we would be learning about how journaling has evolved and various ways to journal. As the class progressed, I found it to be more of an art than a humanities class. When this reality did not match my expectation, I was disappointed. I had to challenge myself to get the most out of this course by changing my attitude and adjusting my perspective. As an art class, this would have been an excellent idea and well executed. Being able to learn about different materials, binding techniques, and adhesives were helpful in the creation of journals, but it was not what I had expected. One thing that stands out to me was the research paper, it just did not seem to fit into the class very well. Most of the students did not know how to use Chicago Style referencing properly and there was not any class time allotted to learning it nor to working on the essays. It seemed to be used to check a box rather than to help our understanding. I think that this essay would have fit into the course much better if we had been spending time in class learning about various historical journalists and how their work impacted the region in which it was created. It just did not seem as though our homework matched our class work, so I was a little thrown off. This imbalance was especially apparent because the room was deemed technology free, so we could not even work on our essays while in class. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. improvements of our youth criminal justice system Essay When thinking about youth crime do you envision a country with a high rate of young offenders, gang activity and re offending? Or do you envision a country with a significant increase of young offenders either being successfully reintegrated into society, or helped by a community when seeking forgiveness for a minor offence that they have committed? Since the passing of Bill C 7 or the Youth Criminal JusticeAct on February 4, 2002 by the House of Commons, many significant improvements have been made in Canada s youth criminal justice system on how to handle and care for young offenders. Some of the reasons why Bill C 7 was passed in Canada was because the bill before it, Young Offenders Act, had many problems and suffered large amounts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These measures usually involve small group gatherings consisting of the offender, the victim and a third party at a community based level; the process of Extrajudicial Measures must usually remain incomplete until a reasonable solution is negotiated between the three parties. Although the Young Offenders Act allowed the use of alternative measures or diversions (Philip Rosen,2000) also known as Extrajudicial Measures as in the YCJA, little details were given as to their purpose or to what constitutes appropriate use of these measures. According to statistics by Cheryl Engler Shannon Crowe (2000), For every 10,000 youth in Canada, 135 participated in alternative measures (highlights). These Statistics clearly show the lack of knowledge on these measures as they represent the amount of times the courts have implemented them. In order to clarify when and why these methods are supposed to be implemented, parliament further detailed the term alternative measures within the Youth Criminal Justice Acts renaming the term to Extrajudicial Measures. Police reported data show that charges were laid or recommended against 42% of youth accused of a Criminal Code offence in 2006, while 58% of youth accused were given a warning, caution, referral to a community or extrajudicial ... • 4. 1984 Controlling The Mind Analysis In 1984 by George Orwell, Big Brother uses fear and lies to control its citizens and their thoughts. They are constantly being monitored using Telescreens, so everything done or said is recorded by Big Brother and used against them. O Brien, an inner party member, tricks Winston Smith into believing there were other people like Winston who oppose Big Brother. O Brien tells Winston that his thoughts and memories are delusions that never occurred. O Brien later explains that Big Brother controls all, including reality itself. Reality is what someone feels and experiences so it s possible that Big Brother controls reality by controlling the mind.Reality is what is perceived to be true, but what exactly is the truth when someone controls your mind. In science, reality is a theoretical notion of understanding that can never be proven. In the Copenhagen Interpretation from the school of quantum mechanics, reality does not exist without an observer to observe it so in relation to 1984, by controlling the observer (the proles) Big Brother can control what they observe. Big Brother relentlessly keeps its populace in fright resulting in them feeling helpless and worthless. In our world there will be no emotions except fear, rage, triumph, and self abasement. • 5. Reflection Of Art Art is all around the world and everywhere we go and has been since the beginning of time. Most of the early artworks was visual arts, such as paintings, sculptures, printmaking and many other things. The purpose of art is the creative way to express our emotions to empower or inspire people, or it could bring out different emotions within ourselves, depending on how you look at it. Many of the art pieces have a story to tell or it can express the state of mind and feeling of the artist when the art was produced. Art is here today and will be tomorrow as well because art is now a part of our society. For my three pieces of artworks to write about, I chose an artist that has many art pieces in many galleries. His style is absolutely creative and different. Nothing like I ve ever since before. The first painting I observed is by an artist who has been a street artist since 1985, Gary John. He grew up in Seattle but moved to Venice, California in 2003 and began selling his art pieces on the boardwalk. One art piece of his that I found interesting is 31st street in 3 D , 2015. The 41 x 29 inch art is drawn on a paper of what looks like an architectural plan. John drew a big 3 D, old school television with an antenna right in the center of it with black paint. On the left side of it, he drew with red paint, repetition of circles and lines with an arrow on the top. With the same red paint, he drew a simplified outline of a house. • 6. The Electronic Medical Record ( Emr ) Meaningful Use and its Development The electronic medical record (EMR) is the replacement of paper manual charts and is being used all across the country. As per Hebda and Czar (2013), the EMR is the building block of the electronic health record (EHR), which can be defined as a longitudinal record that includes client data, demographics, clinician notes, medications, diagnostic findings, and other essential healthcare information (p.293). The widespread use of EHR s in America is foreseeable and inevitably unavoidable, but by no means a simple and undoubtedly an effortless task to achieve. In an attempt to reduce costs in the introduction, conversion, and implementation of patient health records the government has provided regulations for meaningful use (MU) (p.280). In the attempt to improve the safety and quality of the nation s healthcare system, the government enacted the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act. The HITECH Act is part of the American Reinvestment Recovery Act (ARRA), enacted on February 17, 2009, which includes many measures intended to modernize the nation s infrastructure (cdc.gov.). The HITECH Act, encourages the use of EHR s meaningful use in order to reduce the redundancy of data entry with integration and interoperability. • 7. Disengafication Theory Of Aging As we age, we become more and more sedentary, this appears to be a normal part of the aging lifecycle. We tend to shift from physical activities to more leisure activities like reading, relaxing and thinking, and watching TV, according to one time use study up to 58% of people aged 55 and over spend the majority of their time watching TV each day (Novak 326). One may feel they have earned the right to lounge around and become less active as they age or enter retirement, as they have paid their dues to the working community. This sedentary life style leads to obesity, in 2008, 26.6% of people aged 60 years and older were considered obese and their decrease in physical activity makes the body slowly decline due to neglect, putting the elderly at risk for heart disease, osteoporosis, depression, and disability (Novak 330). Disengagement, continuity, and age stratification theories provide some insight as to why we become more sedentary as we age: disengagement theory is known as elders withdrawing socially as part of the natural agingprocess, continuity is based on ones level of activity in their middle aged years and is carried into their later years, and age stratification theory is when society expects the elders to behave in particular way, and don t offer as many social roles for the elderly (Novak 331). To this empire, no enemy posed a serious threat and, therefore, this economy became the most prosperous of its time. Combined with the spread of Islam across the world, previously sleeping agricultural and rural sectors suddenly flourished due to the establishment of law and order among Islamic territories. When this is paired with a geographically vast market that operated with no fear of caravans being assaulted en route, this motivated all of the Islamic faith to do their best for their own advancement and the benefit of their society. • 11. Carbohydrates Shakes Isn t As Bad 8 Facts why Fat in Protein Shakes isn t as Bad as You Think When building muscle is the goal, most athletes try to eliminate their fat intake. Fat is not bad but an important part of everyone s nutritional needs. Despite the fact that fat is high in calories, there are many health benefits that come from them. In proper balance and moderation, they will aid you in your training regimen and get you stronger, more defined and keep you healthy. 1.Energy during Exercise Twenty minutes into a workout and it feels like you hit a wall. Energy levels drop and so does your performance. By adding a small amount of fat to your pre workout protein shake, when the carbohydrates run out at the twenty minute mark, the body can then start to burn the fat. The carb crash causes an increase of insulin in the blood stream followed by a rapid decrease in blood sugar when the carbs are all used up. When fat burns, the body does not release extra insulin and give you a sustained level of energy. 2.Hormones Both men and women each have certain amounts of both testosterone and estrogen in their bodies. The cholesterol found in saturated fats produces hormones. Not only does the saturated fat help produce hormones, it helps to balance them or to raise the testosterone levels. An increase in testosterone helps to build muscles. With more muscle mass the body burns more fat. 3.Improve Vitamin and Supplement Absorption There are two kinds of vitamins: water soluble and fat soluble. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. The Toothpaste Factory Got The Top People Dedication To my parents, who gave me life and taught me the meaning of it. Both by accident. Introduction Once upon a time, a toothpaste factory had a problem. They sometimes shipped empty boxes without the tube inside. This was caused by the way the production line was set up, and people with experience in designing production lines will tell you how difficult it is to have everything happen with timings so precise that every single unit coming out of it is perfect 100% of the time. Small variations in the environment (which can t be controlled in a cost effective fashion) mean you must have quality assurance checks smartly distributed across the line so customers all the way down to the supermarket don t get angry and buy another product instead. Understanding how important that was, the CEO of the toothpaste factory got the top people in the company together and they decided to start a new project in which they would hire an external engineering company to solve their empty boxes problem since their engineering department was already too stretched to take on any extra effort. The project followed the usual process: budget and project sponsor allocated, RFP and third parties selected. Six months (and $8 million) later, they had a fantastic solution on time, on budget, high quality and everyone in the project had a great time. • 14. Literature Review Of High Flow Nasal Cannula Literature Review High flow nasal cannula (HFNC) therapy has become a safe, useful therapy in many types of patients with respiratory failure, improving oxygenation and comfort levels. Oxygen therapy is the main treatment for hypoxemic respiratory failure and has been delivered via nasal prongs or masks. The maximum flow rates that these devices can deliver are limited due to the insufficient heat and humidity provided to the gas that s being administered. It s accepted that flow rates up to 15 L/min can be delivered using conventional nasal prongs or masks, and even high flow tubing, but this flow is far lower than the inspiratory flow of a patient with acute respiratory failure. Room air dilutes the supplemental oxygen, resulting in a significant decrease in the fraction of the inspired oxygen (FIO2) that finally reaches the air sacks in the lungs, called alveoli. Many different HFNC devices are available, but the technique always involves the delivery of a totally conditioned (37 В°C containing 44 mg H2O/L [100 % relative humidity]) gas admixture via a wide bore and soft nasal prong up to 60 L/min, with a fraction of inspired oxygen ranging from 0.21 to 1 (21% to 100%). Parkhurst Mrs. Patricia Loudermilt Earth/Environmental Science Honors Online 9 September 2016 The 1906 San Francisco Earthquake And Jack London s Reportings The earthquake on April 18, 1906, in San Francisco is considered one of the most important earthquakes ever. Ultimately, its main significance comes from the knowledge gained from it, not just the size of it. It was the first large natural disaster captured with photographs. The geologists of the time didn t know what could have caused such a large earthquake as plate tectonics wasn t a very popular theory back then. Studying the movement and crust near the fault, Reid developed a theory called Elastic Rebound theory, which is still used to this day to explain earthquakes (The Great 1906 San Francisco Earthquake). Foreshocks began at approximately 5:12 AM California time. Then, not half a minute later, the main earthquake occurred. The epicenter wasn t actually in San Francisco, but it was close. Most of the damage in San Francisco was caused by fire which burned the town for three consecutive days and nights. In areas along the fault line, most of the damage was caused by shaking. After the disaster occurred, the public had to obtain information on this earthquake from reports and photographs, which had to be sent all across the country. One of the most influential reporters was Jack London. His importance comes from his effectiveness in telling without pictures what was happening in San Francisco. One of ... However, arsenic is highly abundant in the Earth s crust and is naturally present across the world in the air, water, and soil. Overall, however, arsenic released from mining processes settles mainly in the atmosphere, and studies have shown that drinking water serves as the primary path of exposure of arsenic for humans, making the naturally occurring arsenic in the groundwater a greater threat to human health in Antofagasta. ii. The Antofagasta Regionhas an extremely arid climate and low rates of precipitation, which greatly limit water availability and further exacerbate the effects of the natural arsenic contamination. This question has been argued for centuries and people still do not grasp the complexity of the word. The infamous word that people cannot grasp is evil. Evil in a modern society can range from narcissism to psychopathy. For example, one can think of evilcausing public shooting thus wounding or killing innocent civilians. Others can define evil simply by doing any wrong doing. The word evil has implications in any subject field, including literature. In the play Othello, arguably one of the most famous plays written by Shakespeare demonstrates the act of evil. In the play, Iago, the main antagonist, wants to seek his general s downfall. He plans on running him by manipulating his mind into believing that his wife cheated on him. The result is Othello killing Desdemona and eventually himself. Since Iago is mastermind behind the scheme, it raises the question on whether he is evil or not. A modern interpretation of evil is by Hillel Steiner, a Canadian political... This presumption of innocence is considered to be the foundation of a civilized criminal justice system, as well as within the fundamental rights of mankind. The Officer says that guilt is never to be doubted, and because he was ordained the judge of the penal colony, there is no proper trial or due process needed, as all are guilty in the eyes of the one who judges (Kafka, p.198). If the punishments delivered to the guilty were less severe, than there would perhaps be fewer qualms about the system, however the justice dispensed by the machine is nowhere near reasonable or humane, dispensing grievous punishments that far exceed most crimes to those who are condemned. However, it is important to remember that the apparatus and its function are simply an extension of the ideology of the Old Commandant and the Officer who are the true punishers. The punishments the officer administers through the device to the condemned seem to be an example of just one of the two types of justice criticized in the text. The first type of justice is the excruciating suffering wrought by the officer and Old Commandant through the apparatus upon the naturally guilty, almost like divine punishmentraining down from the heavens to strike down sinners. Throughout the film it becomes evident that this large goal, built up with three smaller goals is a challenge, but is achievable. When Marc met Wassily Kandinsky in 1910, he joined an expressionist group. Most of the colors that Franz used in his paintings had a meaning to him or to the painting. The different aspects and the thought that Marc put into his paintings really made them come together and become what they are now. Marc and Kandinsky soon formed their own group, called Der Blaue Reiter. Their philosophy in painting paintings derived from nature was that the painting itself should reflect the spiritual essence of the object or animal as opposed to the physical embodiment. In 1912, Marc s works became more abstract... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1911, Germany was being industrialized very quickly, and urbanization was at an all time high. By this time in his artistic career, Franz Marc had developed an idea of symbolism for the colors used in his paintings. This was largely influenced by his friendship with Kandinsky. This movement had a large impact on Marc s paintings as most of his works were of the expressionist movement. His paintings were not focused on the physical details of the painting, but on the mood and ideas that he was trying to relate to the viewer. Franz Marc created several paintings in the year of 1911, and a vast majority of them were related to expressionism. Marc liked nature and seemingly normal actions that animals were doing.
