The Great War : Europe s Breaking Point An assassination that threw an entire continent into
war, a brutal bloodshed that stretched over four year, and ten million lives lost. The morale of
entire countries beaten into a tired submission. This is was what WWI left for Europe at it s
close in 1918. And these are the most popular details of this war. And although WWII is often
spoke of more often and televised more than it s predecessor, it s importance and relevance does
not waver. If it were not for this war, entire empires may still be in place. One could argue that if
it were not for this war, Russia may still be under imperial rule. This one war was a spark in a

All of these countries were well off, Britain especially, with the Industrial Revolution increasing
exports and Imperialism producing resources needed to keep their economy superior to other
countries. In the middle of this alliance, there lay another. It consisted of Germany, Italy, and
Austria Hungary. The Balkans to the south were considered neutral territory in 1914 (Document
A), but the peoples of these lands were vastly unhappy. One such people were the Serbians. Now,
the Serbians were not happy with how their lives were, and dreamed of revolution. So, a group
known as The Black Hand devised a plan that they believed would bring the change they wanted
to Serbia; killing the Austrian Archduke Franz Ferdinand. Now when this happened, Austria
Hungary responded by declaring war on Serbia. However, when this did this, they alerted the
Triple Entente. Russia, which was tied to the Triple Entente, was on good terms with Serbia. And
so Russia declares war on Austria Hungary, which causes Germany to join in, and invade
Belgium. And so Britain, who was a friend of Belgium, declared war on Germany, and then France
joined because England joined. So, in effect, because of one assassination, because of one death, all
of Europe bursted into a long, bloody engagement in which ten million people

6. Essay On Colon Cancer
Colon Cancer
There are over 100 types of cancer. One type is called colon cancer, a very common disease in the
lower part of the digestive system. Colon cancer is luckily very treatable if caught early, but
because it is so common it is the second leading cause of death from cancer. About 140,000 people
in the U.S. are diagnosed with colon cancer every year.
Colon cancer, also known as colorectal cancer is mostly found in adults age 50 and older. The
most common symptoms are abdominal pain, weakness, fatigue, and weight loss. In the early
stages of colon cancer not many symptoms are evident, when the symptoms do appear they vary
depending on the location of where the growth is, and the size. Usually this type of cancer arrives
in polyps, which are small non cancerous growths that can become cancer over time.
Depending on how far along the polyps have grown there are three treatment options; radiation,
surgery, and chemotherapy. The most common of these is surgery. There are several ways to
prevent colon cancer. One is having a healthy diet of low fat foods, vegetables, and fruits. Another
way to prevent colon cancer is to have a yearly colonoscopy, a test that can tell you what is going

7. How Has Technology Helped International Trade
Although numerous factors influence international trade, technology has the largest impact on the
effectiveness of trade. Three technological advances that promoted international trade include
steamships, measurement of latitude and longitude, and global timekeeping. Besides global
timekeeping, which began in the 1960s, each of these advancements were from the 19th century or
earlier.
The first steamships came into use in the early 1800s, and have since been known as a major driver
of global trade. Before the invention of steamships, trade voyages between the U.S. and China
would take up to five months overseas, which was just as dangerous as it was time consuming.
Steamships allowed for much faster expeditions, which meant perishable goods would arrive
fresher and more trips could be made annually. Steamships were also able to travel close to land
and through rivers, which meant a greater number of trade routes. Overall, the introduction of
steamships allowed for faster and considerably larger amounts of international trade, which led to

Strengths
Lego s key strengths may be seen as coming from both its brand recognition and its ability to use
innovative technology without moving away from the company s core values. Whilst there are
many other competitors in the toy or children s entertainment market Lego remains the brand of
choice in the field of construction toys despite the fall of other long term historical brand such as

Lego s key weakness in the run up to 2004 may be seen as two fold. Firstly the company has
failed in a key area of the understanding of marketing in regard to understanding the needs of their

Looking back at my childhood, I suppose you could say it was pretty difficult. Even at my happiest,
I was living with a foster family, separated from the rest of my biological relatives. However, I
couldn t complain. I loved them like they were my family that I spent my whole life with. I was a
five year old boy living a happy life. I had grown attached to the family, feeling like I was truly a
part of it. Then one cold November day it all changed. A woman dressed in black came to my
home I had grown to love and told me it was time to go away. I horrified, not knowing where I
could be taken. After waiting in a room full of toys for a few hours, she came back in and told
me it was time to go. She put me in the back seat of a car and started driving. Driving to my
mother s house, to live with her and my two brothers. They didn t even feel like family anymore.
Time marched on, however. My sister was born, I was reintroduced to my family, and although I
missed the Bernards, everything felt like it was going to be ok.
Everything seemed to be, until I was fifteen. One September morning while sitting in my English
class, I was called to the office. Upon arrival, I was informed that I was being de enrolled by my
mother. She told me that she was putting me on independent studies. I could handle that. However,
I couldn t handle the reason; my mother had been diagnosed with cancer.

Ernest Hemingway
But man is not made for defeat, he said. A man can be destroyed but not defeated. (Hemingway,
29). This is one of the lines that Ernest Hemingway uses in one of his books, titled, The Old Man
and The Sea. It was published in 1952, and was awarded the Pulitzer Prize the following year.
The story of an old fisherman s journey, his long and lonely struggle with a fish and the sea, was
considered to be the most popular of all his works. Fortunately for this well known author, he has
many more books, novels and short stories that his readers enjoy. Ernest Hemingway was born in

He only worked there for six months before responding to a Red Cross recruitment effort in 1918
(during World War I). There, he signed on and became an ambulance driver in Italy. In his non

time, and how rescuers had to collect the shredded fragments of dead people. He was wounded
by mortar fire, but despite that managed to carry an Italian soldier to safety, and was awarded the
Italian Silver Medal of Bravery (Mayers, 1985). Hemingway spent a lot of time traveling, and
lived in some places, such as Kansas City, Toronto, Canada, Italy, Spain, Cuba, Paris and Key West,
Florida.
Hemingway was only eighteen at the time. He had several wounds on both legs, and had to be
operated immediately. Apparently, he fell in love for the first time with a Red Cross nurse, Agnes
von Kurowsky. They agreed to get married, but later on, she wrote him with the news of her
engagement to someone else, which left him heartbroken and devastated. Biographer Jeffrey
Meyers claims that Hemingway was devastated by Agnes rejection, and he followed a pattern of
abandoning a wife before she abandoned him in future relationships. Personally, one might think
that there is more to the way Hemingway was than what a reader may believe.

13. Evaluation Of The Remote Laboratory Emulation System
1. Goal Lab 01, being the first lab, facilitated the initial creation of our VMware vApp along with
our preliminary network within. The main goal of the lab was to familiarize oneself with the
Remote Laboratory Emulation System (RLES) and create a basic network utilizing the system.
The basic network we created with RLES had 4 requirements: a pfSense router, a Red Hat
Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7 server, a monitoring solution, and a wiki. By installing and
configuring these operating systems / services, I was able to better familiarize myself with both
RLES and the services themselves. An important part of creating and administering a network is
the selection of what services and operating systems to use. Some choices were specified in the
lab instructions, such as the requirement to use RHEL 7, while others were left for me to decide
as the System Administrator. For the router, I went with the suggested option of pfSense, and
learned both how to install and configure the OS. My next action was to install and configure a
Wiki so I could document all following installs. I chose to create a separate VM for the wiki
running Ubuntu 14.04 as I am most familiar with this OS. The wiki solution itself I chose to
install was MediaWiki, thus I learned how to install and configure said service. The final server I
configured was a RHEL 7 machine, as specified in the lab. I chose Nagios 4 as my monitoring
solution, and the learning curve was quite steep, but achievable. Besides learning

16. How Does Harper Lee Use Symbols In To Kill A Mockingbird
Harper Lee is a famous author who wrote To Kill A mockingbird. She uses symbolism throughout
her story. Symbolism is a literary device where the author uses an object to represent an idea. The
main symbol throughout the story is the symbol of a mockingbird. The mockingbird stands for
innocence. Harper Lee uses Tom, Atticus and Scout as mockingbirds.
First Harper Lee uses Tom as a mockingbird. Tom is a African American and haves a poor family.
Tom is a mockingbird because he haves a broken arm but yet, was convicted of choking a girl
with two hand and convicted of rape. Another reason Tom is a mockingbird is because Atticus

People in his neighborhood started to talk about him because the case he took on (tom). I wish
Bob Ewell wouldn t chew tobacco on pg (291) said Atticus. Bob spat tobacco on him because
Atticus embarrassed him by proving Tom was innocent . This shows that he was a mockingbird
because he was treated bad for doing his job in court .
The last mockingbird is scout. Scout is Atticus daughter ,Scout is also a Tom boy. She is a
mockingbird because she don t do major harm to anyone but yet, bullied because her dad is the
one that stuck up for a black man. Bob Ewell also tried to kill her but her costume saved her.

19. Title Ix And Its Impact On Society
A huge thing that has impacted society and especially sport today was the passing of Title IX. It
changed the way we look at sport and how we address it. Title IX is a law that passed in 1972
that requires gender equity for men and women in all educational programs that receive federal
funding (titleix.info). The government showed that they will not play favorites and that we are all
equal before the law (Summers). The passing of this law was a turning point for women. It
impacted women in many areas of life but when most people think of Title IX, sportfirst comes to
mind. Women had played sports before this time, but did not receive all the same opportunities as
men. Women athletic programs were not provided with the same funds that men sports and female
college athletes received only two percent of overall athletic budgets. There was much less woman
participating in sports than men so before Title IX only 1 in 27 girls played high school sports.
After Title IX, things drastically changed for women in sports though (titleix.info). Today there
is a question about whether or not Title IX accomplished what it set out to actually accomplish.
There are mixed views on if it was successful. There is no doubt that it has made a huge impact
on women sports but has its faults made the law fail at its attempted mission. Carrie Lukas says,
Men s sports teams have been sacrificed in order to achieve proportionality as demanded by those
enforcing Title IX (Lukas). Title IX

21. Community Corrections Must Be Defined As Orders And Strict...
Community corrections can be defined as orders and strict instructions given to convicted adults
and young ones, which occur in a community setting outside jail or prison. It involves the
supervision and management of offenders by community correction officers in the community. It
usually happens when offenders are imposed to undertake community projects as an alternative to
imprisonment. It can also be a condition of release on parole from prison. Community corrections
bring several benefits to the offender such as learning how to become accountable and how to plan
effectively (National Institute of Justice, 2014).
What It Involves Community corrections involve instilling of corrective behaviors and acceptable
practices to offenders by teaching them how to do new things and in the same time correcting their
mistakes, which made them charged in court. Offenders are required to participate in community
work, appropriate educational programs and assessment and treatment programs. They are managed
and supervised in the community by individuals known as the community correction officers.
Offenders who complete their orders successfully upon identifiable behavior change are allowed to
live freely without any more supervision from the correction officers, and they can interact and
participate actively in community and society building projects.

A sense of belonging can be linked to many aspects of life, whether it be to people, places or
cultures, and is often necessary for feeling a sense of happiness through a sense of identity or
importance. The poem In the Park by Gwen Harwood and the short film More by Mark Osborne
both show the positives and the negatives of belonging to people and society as a whole. In the
Park and More show the negatives of belonging and not belonging, the former through a
pessimistic tone and choice of diction, and the latter through repetition and the juxtaposition of
colour. More shows the main character s lack of belonging through the absence of any form of
connection to others, with the closest form of interaction being criticism from its boss. The
director uses repetition of dull activities such as waking up, working and sleeping while
maintaining close ups of discouraged facial expressions to illustrate the lack of meaning in one s
life without belonging. In the Park shows the dissatisfaction of the female main character s life
through an ongoing pessimistic tone, which describes her children s actions with words such as
whine , bicker and aimless and associates the children as problems due to belonging to a family....

Fruits are very delicious and healthy. In this experiment our problem is How does pH levels vary
in different fruits? The independent variable of this experiment is fruits, units: pounds/Ibs. The
dependent variable is the pH levels. The constant variable is the boiling water. The hypothesis for
this experiment is if we test the pH levels of oranges, cherries, and grapes then, the oranges would
have a higher pH because it s a very acidic fruitwhich would make it have a higher pH level. We
will use boiled water then, add the varieties of fruit we chose into the pot, then strain the mixture of
boiling water and cut up the fruit. The color would tell us the pH level of that fruit.

This is where we got our idea to experiment multiple fruits and find out which has a higher pH
level. Even though in our experiment some fruits maybe more acidic than others, that s fine
because our body needs a balance of acidic and base foods. In the Cabbage Chemistry experiment
the cabbage is the pH indicator meanwhile in our experiment the fruits are the pH indicators.
Sometimes we need to eat more acidic foods because when we play sports for example like
basketball or just running we release a lot of carbon dioxide, which is an acid that lowers the
acidity in our bodies. This can lead to our bodies being imbalanced, so this is why we would
need to eat more acidic foods therefore are bodies can be balanced again. Another similar
experiment we found was Candy pH, is like ours except they re using chocolate candies, sweet
candies, and sour candies. We re both testing the acidity but just different foods. Likewise our
procedures are similar because they put the different candies in boiling water so they can get the

Even so, many more could have died if bombs had not been dropped. Although the atomic bombs

Had this November invasion happened, it can be concluded that there would have been a staggering

29. Characteristics Of A Root Cause Analysis
A root cause analysis is a mechanism used to determine if procedures prompt sentinel occasions.
A sentinel occasion is characterized by Cherry and Jacob as a startling event that can cause
genuine physical or psychologic damage or the danger thereof. (Cherry and Jacob, 2011, p. 444)
The goal of a root cause analysisis to distinguish the components which brought on the sentinel
occasion and to recognize imperfections in the framework which can be adjusted with a specific
end goal to keep a rehash of the occasion later on. A root cause analysis is not used to accuse
people, and is not relevant when the occasion is deliberate, or brought on by carelessness or a
criminal demonstration. Root cause analysis concentrates on disappointments in the framework that
can be remedied (Huber and Ogirnc, 2014). Before starting the RCA, a multidisciplinary group is
chosen to survey the occasions included in the sentinel occasion. This group is regularly made out
of four to six individuals. These individuals would incorporate agents from Risk and Quality
departments. Despite the fact that including Nurse J. what s more, Dr. T. on the group will give

31. Issues Surrounding The Legalization Of Euthanasia
This essay will critically discuss slippery slope arguments with reference to the issues surrounding
the legalization of euthanasia. Firstly, the foundations of a slippery slope argument will be
discussed, along with the usual fallacious nature of this type of argument, also to be discussed, is if
slippery slope arguments ever provide good reasons for accepting their conclusions. Secondly,
euthanasiawill be introduced and discussed, this will be done using an example of a slippery slope
argumentby John Keown from his book Euthanasia, ethics and public policy: and argument against
legalization. From this example, the moralityof euthanasia will be discussed as to whether slippery
slope arguments show that euthanasia is immoral. Lastly, euthanasia will be discussed with
reference utilitarianism, and if euthanasia would potentially be viewed as a good or moral
option by utilitarian theory or if it would be viewed as immoral. Slippery slope arguments are
often used to argue that if we allow something to become legal we will be stepping onto the
slippery slope to allowing something viewed as morally wrong to also become legal. These
arguments are used often within society, although most of the time they are used in a casual
manner and the distance between point A and B is so large they are not taken seriously,
(Spielthenner, 2010; Jefferson, 2014). For that reason slippery slope arguments as a general idea
are not considered to be good logical arguments. So, slippery slope

One Wife or Multiple Wives? The practice or condition of having more than one spouse,
especially a wife, at one time, is polygamy ( Polygamy ). When pondering about the action and
process of polygamy, individuals in the United States most likely think about the pioneers that
traveled across the Mormon Trail to the area of present day Salt Lake City, Utah, in the 1800s;
these individuals yearned to escape religious persecution from others. Americans may look to
former prophets, like those of Joseph Smith and Brigham Young, of the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter Day Saints (Mormon) that practiced and taught the doctrine of polygamy to their followers
and believers in the mid 19th century ( Plural Marriagein Kirtland and Nauvoo ).

It is an important value to the FLDS Church. If the leaders did treat its followers, young and old,
respectfully and positively, polygamy would have a different stigma. Unfortunately, the FLDS
people do not treat each other correctly within the Church in the area of Short Creek. While
some of these points are somewhat valid, it is still not seen positive to legalize the act of
polygamy for the FLDS Church. Thus, with all the radical views and actions, it is not feasible.
The fact of the matter is polygamy needs to be stopped so individuals are free from being
molested, hurt, and abused in many different forms. So, in my personal opinion, I believe that
polygamy is negative and should stay illegal. There are so many individuals through the FLDS
Church that have been violated in ways that no person should ever experience. It is not something
as an act that could ever be positive. Despite many individual s thinking, polygamy is a practice
that is still valued today by the Fundamental Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and its
followers. It is mostly negative for its members, and does not have any positives correlated with the
practice. It causes much abuse among members, former and current, like the situation of Elissa

In an analysis of the situation in the aftermath of Katrina, there is a clear delineation of authority,
with the National Guard of individual states remaining under state executive control of the
Governor when not federalized (Tkacz, 2006). Understanding the progression of the levels of
command is paramount to understanding command interactions and how command elements are
unified under one Senior Military Officer forming specific operational command relationships.
Command Relationships
Command relationships preserve the preeminence of civil authorities in their domains of obligation
while enabling the full utilization of military forces as permitted by the United States Constitution,
Congressional law, and Presidential directives (Joint Chiefs of Staff, 2013). All United States
military forces within respective branches operate under a single commander establishing a
successive authority structure. Army command relationships define superior and subordinate
relationships between unit commanders. By stipulating a chain of command, command
relationships amalgamates effort and enable commanders to use subordinate forces with extreme
flexibility. Army command relationships classify the level of control exerted on subordinate

36. Analysis Of A Farewell To Arms
A Farewell to Arms is a novel written by Ernest Hemingway. The book setting is in Italy during
World War I, along the border between Italy and the Austro Hungarian Empire. The novel focus
on a tragic love story between Lieutenant Frederic Henry and British nurse Catherine Barkley.
Though many obstacles, the two lovers always find a way to stay together. The novel s ending
wasn t the best but in the end, they were star crossed lovers. Hemingway was best known for this
novel as to be one of the best novel that he has ever written. The novel is recognized by its style,
characterization, and tragedy. Throughout the novel, Hemingway does a great job at introducing
each characterand their relation to the war. He s very descriptive when it come to the interaction
between the two main characters. However, his transition from one chapter to another was
sometimes confusing and not as descriptive. For example, each chapter he would state the next
morning or the next afternoon but he doesn t give us the specific date or the time of the day.
This makes the readers wonder if Hemingway is telling the truth about the events of the war or
not. Since its past tense and is being told through a narrative novel, we can t trust whether
Hemingway is leaving out any detail of the events because there is such a big time gap between
when it was told and when the book was written. We can t say that Frederick was taking notes on
every event that occurred but we can only trust that he s telling the truth. Furthermore, each time he
transitions from each chapter and book, he completely changes the setting and mood of the story.
This confuses some readers and makes them not wanting to continue on reading the novel. He also
gave us descriptive information regarding to the war as well. For example, in chapter 2 it stated:
The next year there were many victories. The mountain that was beyond the valley and the
hillside where the chestnut forest grew was captured and there were victories beyond the plain on
the plateau to the south and we crossed the river in August and lived in a house in Gorizia that had

38. Analysis Of Dances With Wolves
The Easterners and Native Americans were thought to live vastly different lifestyles. Most
Easterners were much like John Dunbar, a decorated American lieutenant. They had a desire to see
the American frontier before it vanished from their steady expansion out West. However, Native
Americans inhabited what many regarded as the American frontier, and they along with their tribe
vowed to protect their land from the white men who would only continue to come and ravish the
land. Native Americans are indigenous to the Americas and were not simply curious about
expansion, but rather adamant about protecting the land that had been theirs for years before the
white men came about (Treuer 18). After his display of bravery in war, Lieutenant John J. Dunbar,
regarded as a decorated American hero by his fellow soldiers, set out for the American frontier, later
settling into an abandoned post near an Indian reservation with the help of Timmons, who spewed
his thoughts of the Native Americans to his passenger. Timmons argued the Native Americans were

There are two kinds of skepticism, local skepticism, which states that some areas of inquiry don t
allow for knowledge, and global skepticism, which states that we cannot know anything about the
world, (Bogosian). One of the most common arguments for skepticism is the Brain in a Vat
argument, which is very similar to the argumentof the Evil Demon who controls us. In opposition
to this is a philosopher by the name of Hilary Putnam, who uses language as proof for us not being
brains in vats. I am going to explain to you why I think that Putnam is correct.
If you cannot be sure that you are not a brain in a vat, then you cannot rule out the possibility of all
of your beliefs about the external world being false. (Bruekner, 2004) I ... Show more content on

In his idea, someone who has never seen a tree, would not automatically call a tree by that name
when they saw it, however while we go through life we call things by their names. (Brueckner,
2004)He states that if he were a brain in a vat, and he called something a tree it would be no more
accurate than someone who had never seen a table using the word to describe a duck. He uses the
simple argument of:
a.If I am a BIV, then my word tree does not refer to trees.
b.My word tree refers to trees. So,
c.I am not a BIV (Brueckner, 2004)
However, it is also stated that you cannot know that the image and knowledge of trees were not
programmed into the brains in vats, so they could know that the word tree means the image of a
tree. So unfortunately this, like most other Cartesian skepticism arguments, for me at least, is a
hard sell. If I had to decide on one of the two arguments to be the strongest, I would choose the
argument against the idea of brains in vats. This is mostly because I believe that there are too
many emotions and individual decisions that play out in each person s life for us to all actually be
brains that are controlled by a computer or by one person. Every single day we are making
hundreds of decisions and the responses to the same question, when presented to a variety of
people vary significantly, and some of those decisions can change spur of

Cynthia Holden
IS 578 The Request for Proposal Process
Enterprises seeking a consulting firm or product vendor for management, strategy, outsourcing,
software implementation, change management, or a host of other reasons issue a request for
proposal (RFP) to elicit bids for services or products from vendors in the form of a responding
proposal. The RFP process is a means of bringing structure and transparency to the procurement
decision and the process allows both the client and potential vendors to vet each other to determine
if they are suitable business partners. Before an organization issues the formal RFP to potential
vendors, the organization completes several steps.

And the weight they will assign to each of the criteria.
Drafting and Publishing the RFP Documenting the requirements for the engagement is essential,
however the requirements need not be exhaustive as to limit the creativity of the respondents. The
RFP team needs to take care that the RFP does not include the solution to the issue. In doing so,
the team is essentially saying to the respondents, We know what is best. Consequently, some
firms may conclude that the potential client is difficult to work with and not worth the effort of
responding to the RFP. This limits the pool of respondents and the client may miss an
opportunity to collaborate with a consulting firm or product vendor whose ideas and or products
are beneficial to their organization s project success. Requirements are just a portion of the RFP, it
should also include, organizational background, short project description and project objectives: In
my experience this is often the lengthiest section of the RFP, as it describes the characteristics that
define a successful outcome of the project in the team s estimation. It is worth noting that in
general, specific, closed questions are easier to evaluate and score than open ended ones.
However, open ended questions allow for creativity and may add to the evaluation time, as well as
clarity on what the consulting firm or product has to offer. The RFP commonly

41. How Is Jocasta Weak
She gave up her baby for death. She married and had kids with her son. Upon realization, she
committed suicide. All of these events lead readers to view Queen Jocasta as weak because readers
do not look at the whole character of Jocasta and her various characteristics that she displays
throughout Sophocles OedipusRex. From when we first meet her to her suicide, Jocasta has shown
admirable qualities, especially for a woman. In the play, Jocasta portrays a strong will and sense of
defiance through her demeanor and thoughts. In the initial meeting of the Queen, Jocasta is shown
as defiant because of the assertiveness she shows. For example, Jocasta interrupts Creon and
Oedipus with, Have you no sense? Poor misguided men,/ such shouting why... Show more content

In fact, once she realizes Oedipus will discover the truth of the prophecy, she bursts out
exclaiming, Aieeeeee / man of agony / that is the only name I have for you,/ that, no other ever,
ever, ever! (1176 1179). Though this outburst may seem like Jocasta is trying to avoid the
subject, the way women are characterized as, Jocasta is trying to change the way events will
unfold. Instead of making the truth of the prophecy known, she tries to make people believe that
prophecies are false. In this way, Jocasta tries to defy the Gods because she refuses to embrace
that the prophecy is true. Similarly, a servant explains her actions before her suicide to the
country after she had ran inside: Once she d broken in through the gates, dashing past us, frantic,
whipped to fury, [...] she wailed for Laius, dead so long, [...] And then but how she died is more
than I can say (1369 1382). Many people view Jocasta as weak in this scene, yet they fail to see
how she was defying the Gods. She had learned that there is no way to escape the prophecies that
were told to them, so took matters into her own hands by deciding to end her life. Jocasta refuses
to let people, even the Gods, take control of her life and in the end she had the final say to her life
thought it led to her demise. Though some actions may be perceived as weak characteristics, if you

I find everything about Ted Bundys case intriguing. Throughout the course of this class I have

Ted Bundy had some spiral down falls in his life, that he probably never saw coming, but all
humans experience hardships throughout our lives. Of course we all deal with hardships
differently, in Ted s unique case he winded up screwing up his entire life with a series of criminal
acts, killing over 30 women.
To the world Ted is known as one of the most notorious serial killers. Many people will ask
questions such as why did he do that? And how could a human being have no remorse for killing
any of these women. Well, in the next few subjects I will try to break it down in two theories as
to why Ted Bundy did what he did. Of course we can t understand entirely why a psychopath serial
killer does things, but there are some theories that can lead us to believe why a serial killer
commits such violent acts. On February 15, 1978 Ted Bundy was arrested in Florida while he
was in prison he admitted to raping and killing more than 30 women and girls, he was suspected
of committing over 50 murders. He was convicted on July 31, 1979. Bundy s beetle bug was

Early in our nation s history, white settlement of the Americas began a long standing tradition of

Intercultural communication barriers lent themselves to assumptions and intolerance, which led to

Today, stereotypical representations of the cowboys and Indians of the 1800s continue to perpetuate

In addition, Beebe, Beebe, and Redmond s concept of different communication codes also plays
into this scene due to Stands With a Fist s limited memory of the English language and Dunbar s
inability to understand the Lakota exchanges between Stands With a Fist and Kicking Bird.
These factors combine to add a great deal of tension to the exchange because Stands With a Fist
s fear of Dunbar s differences is explicitly demonstrated through her reserved behavior toward
him, and Dunbar infers that she is uncomfortable but not the reasons why. Dunbar and Kicking
Bird attempt to seek information about one another by asking questions and listening carefully
to the answers. However, their efforts are thwarted by Stands With a Fist s initial reluctance to
create what Beebe, Beebe, and Redmond (2008) refer to as a third culture (p. 111), in which the
three could create an atmosphere of acceptance and find common ground upon which to learn
about each other. Stands With a Fist could have acted as a more effective facilitator by using her
prior knowledge of white culture to develop mindfulness (p. 113) of both Dunbar s and Kicking
Bird s backgrounds to help them understand one another and answer each other s questions.

of white civilization, Dances With Wolves (Wilson Costner, 1990) served to illustrate for millions

McGoughs pacifistic perspective on war and his sardonic tone on the naivety of the 60 s society is
most prominent and explored in his poem, Square Dance. Dance of death is a reoccurring motif
throughout the poem, a phrase that originated in the middle ages, emblematic of the universality of
death, also known as the danse macabre , the personification allows the reader to fully understand
the naivety of McGough s current society, imposing the concept that the society is dancing with
death, adding a tone of finality with punctuation to the final use of Dance of Death , conveying a
darker more ruthless society. Each stanza employs a buoyant, sanguine beat, complimented with
black humour, to satirize and burlesque involvement in war, Honour your partner form a square

after extensive blackouts depends very much on the power system restoration process. Power
system restoration is a very challenging task to the operator since the situation is so far from

Exposure to environmental pollutants, drug and ionizing radiation causes inflammation and
oxidative stress. Carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) is one of the chlorinated hydrocarbons with wide
spread use in various industries so it is considered as an environmental toxin because of its
leakage into air, water and soil. Hepatic and renal tubular necrosis is the typical manifestation of
CCl4 intoxication however; the pathogenesis of CCl4 induced renal damage remains largely
elusive [1]. CCl4 acts through activation of phase I cytochrome P450system especially cytochrome
P450 2E1 (CYP2E1) with formation of reactive metabolites as trichloromethyl radicals (CCl3) and
peroxy trichloromethyl radicals (OOCCl3). Free radicals cause oxidative damage of membrane

A common goal for anyone who goes for the first time in a gym is to give body fat a proper send

be able to see more cuts . On the other hand, the higher it is, the more fat is covering your
muscles. Therefore, if you want to see more cuts , you need to shrink the layer of fat which is
under your skin and covers your muscles.
How can you determine the body fat percentage?
One of the most accurate and efficient way to determine this aspect is with a caliper. These
products are designed to clip the fat and measure it under the skin. There are multiple pinch tests,
but it s recommended to use a four or seven point caliper test. Whatever method you are going to
use, the key element is consistency. It s important to be as consistent as possible when taking the
measurements. In short words, you have to take them under the same conditions. For example, it s
advisable to do them in the morning after using the restroom, because this will eliminate any
discrepancies with fluctuation throughout the day. Additionally, you can also use other methods for
