Here is a summary of the key points about inflammatory bowel diseases and lactose intolerance:
- Inflammatory bowel diseases (IBDs), which include Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, have been increasing in prevalence globally.
- There is a question of whether having an IBD predisposes a person to developing secondary lactose intolerance.
- Some theories suggest that lactose intolerance seen in IBD patients may arise as a byproduct of the inflammatory bowel condition, rather than being a primary issue.
- If IBD does increase risk of lactose intolerance, the mechanisms driving this relationship need further exploration to better understand the interaction between these conditions.

2. Women in The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven by...
Women in The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven by Sherman Alexie A warrior is recognized
as sonmeone who battles for his/her beliefs. Even after receiving mortal wounds many times, such a
person never leaves the battlefield. However, the inspiring and metaphorical idea of a warrior can
certainly extend beyond the actual battlefield, and into the universal battle of living life. A woman
must face this world like a warrior. She must endure the pain of a past that oppressed her, the adversity
of a present that is only beginning to understand her, and a future that will continuously test her. From
the beginning of time, Native American women have been a driving force in their cultures, retaining
their immense strength throughout ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite the fact that he has left her in poverty to care for their son, her care for him is unyielding and
willing to withstand the pain he brought onto her. And even though my mother didn t want to be
married to him anymore and his wreck didn t change her mind about that, she still came to see him
every day. She sang Indian tunes under her breath?he tapped his fingers in rhythm. ; (p. 33) Victor s
mother faces depression and alcohol addiction herself, yet even in the midst of these faults, like many
other women on the reservation, she painstakingly maintains the strength to try keeping her family
together or at least show them her love. Like the mother in another one of Alexie s stories who sings to
her child; I m singing an its a good day song. She smiles and I have to smile with her. ;(p. 144) This
small act of making a child smile can be seen as part of the fight because it serves as an example to
their families to continue in the battle of depression in the name of love, fighting off the surrender to
desensitized detachment from the family. Even if the example isn t always followed, as in the case of
Victor s fleeing father, it is certainly a noble endeavor. A warrior who fights bravely and loses a battle
can still be a hero, as we have seen in the women s efforts to hold their families together. Alexie s
women characters also extend their steadfast compassion towards their wounded community. Like the
medicine women of

3. Essay about How Music Effects Mood and Perception in...
Music is a fundamental necessity in the world that we live in today. We all implement music in our
everyday lives whether it s professionally or solely for entertainment purposes. Some people build
careers on music as musicians, composers, singers, or teachers while the latter of us just need music to
get through the day whether we re driving or at work or just need to relax. The need for music in our
contemporary society affects us in a myriad of different ways including the undeniable effect on our
moods. The sound of just one note, one chord, can send an instantaneous message to the brain that,
psychologically, can make us think or act in a certain way. These reactions can positively or negatively
our moods depending on the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lucy, daughter of an abusive alcoholic, seeks refuge in a shop owner s store while her father is
fighting in a boxing tournament. The music is sweet and mournful in the shots with Lucy and the shop
owner and brutal in the shots with the father. The technique of cross cutting between Lucy and the
shop owner develops the element of time as well as the music. In just a few minutes of this scene, the
father fights, discovers where Lucy is, and goes to the shop to retrieve Lucy. The cross cutting
technique allows the audience to know where the characters are in relation to one another, but the
music is the element that distorts the audience s perception of reality. The music, especially of that
interconnected with the father, heightens the audience s emotions. We are on the edge of our seats
when the father discovers where Lucy is. As he makes his way to the shop, we want to scream to Lucy
and the shop owner to run but we can t. Our emotions and moods allow us to be deceived by the
element of time. In real life, there s no way that someone could make it across town in the span of a
several minutes, but because music can transform our moods, sense of time and reality vanish. One of
the most effective ways music can affect mood and perceptions is how a score can relate or define a
character. Directors choose to associate a character with a particular sound or musical theme so that
music can convey

4. The Resurrection Of Jesus Was A Literal, Historical Event
For thousands of years, man has wondered about life and death. Questions such as What is there after
death? and Do I have a purpose on this planet? have plagued countless people. When looking at the
statement in question, It is not necessary for Christian faith to believe that the resurrection of Jesus
was a literal, historical event. , one must remember that in the minds of Christians, not only is it a
comfort that there is something after death, but also an answer to both of the previous questions; yes,
there is life after death and; yes, the purpose is to follow the Christian belief and eventually spend
eternity in heaven with God after death. I ask you to keep this in mind when reading the rest of this
essay, for man s fear of death is complex and ongoing.
The biggest problems and the four components of the resurrection
There are four components to the resurrection; the appearances after death, the verb to be , the empty
tomb and the passages in the bible. All of these components have meaning to them, however with this
meaning comes problems. For example, the verb to be in the quote he is risen (Matthew 28:6) is a
historical present, however the problem is that the verb may have been changed during translation
over the past two thousand years causing doubt in its literal meaning. This links to another component,
literature; when looking at Christianity s belief in the resurrection of Jesus, the bible is our main
source. Just like the verb to be , some of the

of 1,823 individuals age 17 to 93 years (M = 66.5, Mdn = 67) from 28 U.S. states and Canada (see
Table 2.2). Jutras worked closely with NHIMA administrators and music conductors by emailing (n =
99) band groups resulting in a response rate of 80% (n = 79); 17 groups were excluded for various
reasons. Justras worked closely with three music education professors to develop a community music
questionnaire that ranked 42 benefits from 1 to 10 (1=lowest, 10=highest) in categories of (1) health,
(2) personal, (3) music competencies, and (4) social/cultural benefits. Survey packets were mailed to

reported health. The demographics reported 97.6% Caucasian, 0.8% Asian, and 0.6% African
American; 54.2% females and 45.8% males; age ranges from 23 to 93 years (95% over age 50) (M =
67.31, Mdn = 68, , SD = 10.96); average health and income; higher education; and musical training in
childhood. Unlike Jutras study of NHIMA band musicians who practiced 3.75 hours per week,
Coffman s (2008) NHIMA band members practiced 7 hours per week. The SF 36v2 Health Survey
revealed that participants reported NHIMA benefited them by 74% overall well being, 24% physical
well being, 21% cognitive stimulation, and 20% socialization (see Table 2.2). The differences between
Jutras (2011) NHIMA study and Coffman s (2008) NHIMA study are motivation to learn music, and
practicing instruments daily in preparation of rehearsals, which is standard practice for preparation of
community concerts. Perhaps Coffman s (2008) musicians were more serious in developing their
music competency skills and thereby achieved higher levels of brain activity. Whereas, Jutras (2011)
musicians would fit the definition of health care patients or as Gates (1991) described them as
recreationalists or as Stebbins (1992) described individuals as amateurs, volunteers, hobbyists, and
dabblers. As the authors identified, participants lacked the motivation to play their instruments at
home in preparation for band rehearsals, which are preparatory for music concerts. The results in these
studies suggest the activity and continuity theories to explain older adults

6. How to Make India a Better Place
As we step into the new decade, we asked a spectrum of entrepreneurs, bankers, VCs and marketing

developing the country s entrepreneurial ecosystem and pave way for a brave new world
Dream, adventure, determination. This sums up the secret trait of a successful entrepreneur. Is there a
system which will help nurture this in our young? When we talk of building an entrepreneurial

He severely criticized the students for mistakes they made. The negative barrage went on till the end
of the presentation. I could not bear to see the heart broken presenters; they were a pathetic sight. The
right way for the mentor to handle this could have been to listen to the presentation and point out
corrections to the presentation where required and pat them on the back and say, go figure out.
It was a grim reminder of how our society itself is organized: a parochial model. Here elders take a
lion s share in determining how the young live their lives. Even though we have moved away from
joint families to nuclear families, the parochial nature of our society still holds its sway. The young
lose the ability to make decisions. They lose the heart to learn from their mistakes. Thus any hopes for
entrepreneurship is nipped in its bud.
If our mentorship programs fall into the traditional parochial approach then we are not headed the
right way. We aren t building a program if our mentors do not encourage people to experiment, help
their mentees analyse their mistakes and improve the experiments.
There is no science here. We are talking about creating an environment, an ecology for entrepreneurs
to experiment without fear and grow unbounded.

Losing tenants can be expensive. You re losing the rental amount, but you re also spending money in

with owning an apartment building whether it s one unit or a large rental property. In some cases, it s
easier to have procedures in place when you re overseeing more than one unit. It becomes your job
instead of being a sideline bit of income in addition to your regular employment.
10 Ways to Keep Tenants Happy
1. Welcoming Them to the Neighborhood

they are right for your property, you ll want to keep them happy. That begins from the moment they

Respect Your Tenant s Privacy
Tenants have a right to expect a reasonable amount of privacy. When you need to make repairs or do
inspections, they should have advanced notice unless there s an emergency. The welcome packet
should talk about what will be done in the matter of emergency repairs where the landlord has to enter
the unit immediately. You should never enter the unit without the tenant s knowledge.
5. Maintenance and Repairs in a Timely Manner
When you have a procedure for taking on routine maintenance and repairs, the apartment itself as well
as the common areas and the building itself will stay in good repair. This is vital for keeping the tenant
happy. Landlords who have pride in their property will have happy tenants with respect for the
property too.
6. Improvements and Upgrades Regularly
Along with the proper repairs and maintenance, the landlord should be updating and making small
improvements continually to the property. For example, a porch might be upgraded with more
aesthetically pleasing railings leading up the stairs to the porch.

The question at hand states, In evaluating a film, should we interpret and evaluate it by considering
how the film is the creative work of a single author or auteur? (Yenter, Essay Information ).
Understanding my claim requires an understanding of what an auteur is. The original auteur theory is
the idea that the director is the sole author of the film. There are three different strategies that are
typically used to argue for the theory of single authorship. Those strategies are as follows: the
restriction strategy, the sufficient control strategy, and the construction strategy. By assessing these
various strategies attempting to defend single authorship as well as assessing the poststructuralist

The Harry Potter movies have not been evaluated based on the work of the director(s). According to
the auteur theory, each of the movies would need to be evaluated and interpreted based on the creative
work of the director each specific movie. This would be as if we are saying each Harry Potter movie is
separate and distinct from the Harry Potter movies created by a different director. As Harry Potter is
meant to be evaluated and interpreted as a unified series, the auteur theory interpretation would make
utterly no sense. Obviously, by using Harry Potter as an example, many opponents would make that
claim that J.K. Rowling wrote the books. Even if we can compare literature to film and J.K. Rowling
is also said to be the author of the films, she is not the director. But because of her role in creating
these novels, she had a say in how the movies portrayed them, and in some cases, similar to Thor, her
vision overruled the director s vision. As intertextuality makes clear, films are collaborative efforts,

9. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Kayak Fishing
Kayak fishing has rapidly evolved into a mainstream style of fishing in the past 10 years. The largest
difference between fishing kayaks and other kayaks is usually in the way they re rigged with a
complex array of fishing accessories attached into a comparatively small area. The ease with which
these accessories might be added to a routine kayak shortly resulted in the development of a different
line of kayak models designed specifically for the angler. Yet with all of these popular advancements,
there s now another fashion of kayak that s becoming increasingly more popular among avid kayak
fishermen.
The inflatable kayak was often considered as a toy compared to other kayaks, but the inflatable kayaks
of today are not anything like their early counterparts. Previous inflatable versions were flimsy and
sometimes as light as an average pool raft. The modern inflatable kayaks have turned out to be
exceptionally safe and are accessible from quality makers. They re known to be quite durable and
puncture proof. So while there are pros and cons with inflatables, as there are with any other style of
kayak, the disadvantages appear to be an acceptable trade off in return for the edges that are available
in no other type of fishing kayak. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

retrieving and casting, rather than paddling along at full speed or maybe sitting in a single spot.
Another consideration is the fact that it may be more difficult to add the numerous accessories most
people enjoy, which is widely referred to as rigging . On rigid kayaks, it is relatively simple to drill a
mounting hole into the deck of the kayak and add almost anything a person might

to my mind all the different traditions that we hold every year in my country. Unfortunately my happy
thoughts didn t last for long when I finished my reading. The terrible truth about why the lottery

14. What Is The Meaning Of Double Effect
The meaning of double of effect can be quite controversial. The principle of double effect teaches that
one might perform a good action even if foreseen that a bad effect might occur (Becker, n.d).
However, this is based on four principles which involves that the action has to be good itself, that the
bad result was not directly intended, that the good result is not a direct casual result from the bad
result, and that the good result is proportionate to the bad result (Becker, n.d). In this case of the

16. How To Evaluate The Fredrick Case And Two Account Of...
Evaluation of the Fredrick case and two Accounts of Happiness
Introduction
The pursuit of happiness is an endeavor in which most individuals seem thoroughly invested.
Different philosophers gave their varied views on the concept of happiness, and the Fredrick case will
be illustrated with regard to what Aristotle and Epicurus opined about the aspect of a good or happy
life. As it turns out, there are conflicting interests about the Aristotelian rigid view of happiness, and
the more accommodative one by Epicurus. The former argued that happiness can only be attained
when one has achieved their true purpose that is more than what material things can facilitate. The
latter in turn argued that pleasures are permissive to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

avoided the negatives of life and delighted in its pleasures instead. The kind of life suited him since he

Epicurus would note that since the pleasures of life, even though unnecessary, brought him some level

18. The Battle Of The Punic Wars
Joel Medero
History Western Civilization
Professor Smail
THE PUNIC WARS
During the 3rd and 2nd centuries B.C., three wars were fought between Rome and Carthage. The
name given to describe the wars Punic, is a divided word from the Latin and Greek words for
Phoenician. The city of Carthage, situated in what is now Tunisia in North Africa, was founded in 814
B.C. by the Phoenicians. The first two wars were the longest 23 years and 17 years, separated by an
interval of 23 years. The last and third war lasted only three years. It started 52 years after the end of
the second Punic War. All three wars were won by Rome, which automatically emerged as the greatest
military power in the Mediterranean Sea. The hostility of Carthage impelled Rome to build up its large
army and create a strong navy just like the one Carthage had. Strong military leaders of the war for
Carthage and his sons Hasdrubal and Hannibal. Rome s outstanding leaders were Scipio Africanus.
Belief holds that Phoenician settlers from the Mediterranean port of Tyre discovered the city state of
Carthage on the northern coast of Africa. By 265 B.C., Carthage was the richest and the most
advanced city in the region, as well as its prominent naval power. Through Carthage had clashed
forcefully with several other powers in the region, notably Greece, its relations with Rome were
historically friendly, and its cities had signed several treaties defining trading rights over the years. By
275 B.C. Rome had brought

19. Speech Persuasive Speech Comparison
Speech Comparison #2 Ted Talks is a treasure trove of information, capable of providing anyone with
a mountain of information on whatever might interest them. It is different to many other sources in
regards to how that information is given out, this being the way most all their videos are of people
giving speeches. Given the vast collection of speeches on the site, we can find many a great
performances where it is obvious that the speaker had a great effect on the audience and also where
the audience wasn t very much influenced. On the topic of aging and general health, there were two
speeches by Aubrey de Grey s and Dan Buettner, and we will be comparing these two speeches
together No great speech can be created without a good hook. Unfortunately, it seems like neither of
them really created a great hook. They failed to really capture the attention of the audience and reel
them in. Both introductions had weak hooks, but they made it so that you at least knew what the
speakers were going to talk about and what direction they re going to take with their speeches. Despite
both intros being weak, Aubrey de Grey s introduction was clearly weaker. Grey did not have any
hook whatsoever. Instead, he told the audience that he was strapped for time and that he would need to
dive in right ahead. Buettner on the other hand, at least tried to create a hook by starting off with a fact
that not many people would know. It was weak, but better than nothing. The hook is out of the way
and next is fluidity for the introduction. Bueller makes it easy for the audience to follow along with
what he s saying. His use of transitive words guides the audience and it makes it easy to follow along.
This along with his pleasant tone and flow makes it easy to pay attention. A stark contrast to Grey s
speech. Grey at times became quite hard to follow due to his near monotonal voice and the speed at
which he spoke. It was hard to follow what he was saying and often times I ended up lost, missing
quite a bit of the information that he was giving out. At one point, I even checked that I had not
accidentally changed the video s speed because of how fast it was going. This combined with the lack
of any real hook, made it very hard to pay

have, but what about the parents? They are sacrificing their whole life on their one child, in the hopes
of them succeeding and taking care of them in their old age, which I do agree with children taking
care of their parents when they get older. The way I was raised, you do take care of your parents when
they get older. I disagree with a child s whole future resting on just one test. That puts so much

21. An Holistic Impact A Premature Baby Within The Neonatal...
Throughout this essay I will be discussing the holistic impact a premature baby within the neonatal
units has on not only the child but also the immediate family. There are many health issues which can
affect the child but also other issues including attachment to the mother which can also have a long
term effect on the child. This can also influence the family as there may be financial implications on
the family due to these extra unexpected costs. Throughout this essay I will be discussing these topics
in detail. The health issue which I have chosen is the health of premature babies who are within the
care of the neonatal units. I chose this topic as it something which has interested me for a long time as
throughout the years of my research I have noticed a trend within preterm babies and their survival
rate which is something I would like to see change. In babies born preterm, the chance of survival at
less than 23 weeks is close to zero, while at 23 weeks it is 15%, at 24 weeks 55% and at 25 weeks
about 80%. (Tommy s 2016). Furthermore, I also chose this topic due to my own experiences within a
neonatal unit and seeing how it affected my health and my own family s life throughout my time
within there. Furthermore, the multi agency working within this unit and how everyone involved with
the child is something what interests me as it is vital that the mother feels supported throughout this
period. Good team working is in the interests of the woman or baby (Nursing and

The newly appointed CEO, Scott Livengood, realized the problem with the sluggish sales was because
of the company s current strategy.
After becoming CEO, president, and chairman of the board in 1999, the company repositioned and
focused on being a specialty retailer rather than a wholesale bakery. Krispy Kreme wanted to give
their customers the hot doughnut experience they all knew and loved (Peter Donnelly, 2011). The
second part of their plan was to increase the number of stores both franchises, and company owned
nationally. The company began to move into other regions. For example, in 1996 the first store in NY
City was opened, and in 1999 the first store in California opened. In early 2000, the company went
public and merged into a new company called Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Inc., instead of Krispy
Kreme Doughnut Corporation. From 2000 2004, the number of stores has proliferated from 144 to 357
and Krispy Kreme is now beginning to open in international locations, opening the first factory in
London. They now also have locations in Canada, Mexico, and Australia.

to pain. I have now been living with Insomnia for the past 2 years and still am learning more about it.
Most people think that insomnia is just the inability to sleep. It actually has different levels that
include having a hard time going to sleep, and staying asleep, and not feeling rested when you wake

It also helps prepare the brain to recall the information stored in an efficient manner the next day when
needed. What the research studies have found is that patients suffering from insomnia have a problem
with this ability. People who suffer from insomnia might not even know they are exhibiting these
symptoms. To them they just might feel like they are having a hard time getting a handle on the day. In
people who suffer from acute insomnia it may seem like they are just having in a rut and that can
possibly end up affecting their work. Next point is fatigue. Fatigue can be a symptom of insomnia.
And when looked at closer at what things fatigue includes it s easy to see how it has a negative effect
on some ones quality of life. Researchers like Ahmed M. Abdel Khaiek, Ph.D. have that fatigue can
have a negative effect on an individual s immune system. Fatigue can affect an individual s immune
system by making them more susceptible to infection and illness such as the flu. Also if someone is
fatigued they can be accident prone. People who suffer from insomnia and display fatigue also have a
tendency to have slower reaction times, and may even end up causing an accident if they were to be

32. Black Humor in America
Black Humor
One of the most underappreciated and unrecognized forms of comedy is black humor. Black humor
often deals with events that are not often associated with other forms of comedy, such as war, murder,
insanity and death. The main reason that this form of comedy is so underappreciated is that it requires
some thinking on the part of the audience and many people are not willing to do that. The types of
humor that are popular today do not require much thinking and can be characterized as one liners.
However, black humor has been used as an effective means of satire usually towards a tragic event.
One of the biggest misconceptions about black humor is that it involves race. Black humor is not a
form of African American humor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though this is such a great model of black comedy, Joseph Heller said that he was not aware that
it would be funny when he wrote it (Catch 22, Computer). In the story, Catch 22 is a military rule that
employs circular logic. An example of this is the rule that deals with avoiding combat missions:
One may only be excused from flying bombing missions on the grounds of insanity; one must assert
one s insanity to be excused on this basis; one who requests to be excused is presumably in fear for his
life. This is taken to be proof of his sanity, and he is therefore obliged to continue flying missions; one
who is truly insane presumably would not make the request. He therefore would continue flying
missions, even though as an insane person he could of course be excused from them simply by asking.
(Catch 22, Computer)
The main themes in Heller s novel are paradox and contradiction. He used his novel as a way to show
the absurdity of war and to protest World War II. Another author, Kurt Vonnegut wrote Slaughterhouse
Five in 1969 as an analysis of the human condition from an uncommon perspective, using time travel
as a plot device and the bombing of Dresden in World War II, which Vonnegut witnessed, as a starting
point (Slaughter, wikipedia). The humor in this book comes from Vonnegut s downplay of human
mortality. He uses the phrase so it goes whenever dying is mentioned. Much of

33. The Case Of Prince Edward County, Virginia, By Melvin...
In Israel on the Appomattox author Melvin Patrick Ely uses the case study of Prince Edward County,
Virginia, to shift the historiography surrounding the treatment of free blacks in the Antebellum South.
While the current historiography paints the Antebellum South as attempting to subjugate free blacks
into a system as near to slaver as possible (p. 437), Ely posits that because of the existence of black
slavery Southern whites felt secure enough to deal fairly and even respectfully with free African
Americans (p. x). And though Ely agrees that laws and public statements about free blacks in the Old
South constitute a sordid parade of mean spiritedness (p. 436), the actual behavior of white citizens of
Prince Edward County rarely align with the path their social ideology prescribed (p. 440). In going
against the previously well established understanding of the relationship between free blacks and
whites, Ely has placed upon himself the large onus of disproving so many who have come before him,
and the approach he takes within Israel on the Appomattox is as fascinating as it is convincing. Ely s
window into the world of free blacks in Prince Edward County was made possible by Richard
Randolph, who, in his will, freed his approximately ninety slaves and set aside for them a four
hundred acre plot of land which would become known as Israel Hill (p. 7). The majority of Randolph

35. What Is The Theme Of Fire In Fahrenheit 451
As I came to finish the critically acclaimed book Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, I noticed the author
repeatedly mentioning fire to symbolize various topics throughout the novel. Of course, fire was
referenced multiple times all throughout the novel because the main character, Montag, is a fireman
who burns books. However, in the beginning and the middle of the novel, Bradbury brought up fire to
represent Montag s suppression, while towards the end, he contradicts himself and uses fire to show
Montag s liberation and the hope fire brings. Even though the contradictory uses of fire confused me
at first, I then realized that the author was using it to contrast between how something thought to be
dangerous can act to be advantageous. The thought

36. Regulation Framework Of Canada And Compliance
Regulation framework of Canada and compliance
Part 1
The current Canadian security regulation is managed by laws and agencies that have been established
by Canada s 13 provincial and territorial governments. Each of the province has its own security
regulator that is in charge of administration of the securities acts, regulations and rules. The idea of
setting up a national single security regulator has been suggested by various reports that have outline a
range of problems with the current system (Mark 121). The reports suggests that the current system
needs improvement and in a prompt manner. Concerns have been put forward that the current
regulation is too complex and is harmful to the security market operations. The current system has
also ben said to increase compliance costs hurting the Canadian market competitiveness (Mark 123).
In addition, the current regulatory system has been said to be slow to respond to changes in the
environment as there is need for agreement from all the thirteen authorities. The global security
market has also rendered its support for the establishment of a single regulatory system. However,
despite the problems and concerns over the current system in the last decade, the current system still
remains in place due to certain barriers if change to a centralized security regulatory system that exist.

37. Personal Reflection Of Newspapers
I worked for 14 years at Random Lengths Publications and for eight years combined at three
community newspapers (The Siuslaw News, Central Oregonian, and Springfield News). All four
offices had fewer than 20 people on hand, and we were all often called upon to fill in for others when
they were overwhelmed or on a break, or when they were sick or vacationing. At the newspapers in
particular, I frequently worked late hours and often was the only one in the office to field phone calls.
Further, I was the face of the company when I was working in the field, easily recognized with camera
and notebook in hand. Readers approached me not only about the event at hand, but issues pertaining
to my other duties or even the issues of co workers. Whether in person or on the phone, I always
listened to reader concerns, and I assured readers that I or someone else on the staff would address
those concerns in a timely manner. For example, when callers hadn t received their newspaper and the
circulation personnel had already left for the day, I would deliver papers myself. With Random
Lengths I e mailed issues of missed newsletters and reported the situation to the circulation
department for follow up.
A publications office environment is always fast paced with multiple ongoing projects. Callers and
visitors had story suggestions, complaints, or other reasons to command my attention while I
commonly was attending to other constituents or my projects on deadline. I have fielded and routed

38. Mystique Of Steve Jobs
Steve Jobs was broadly known for being the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Apple Company,
and was frequently thought to be a virtuoso and a genuine pioneer. It is the general thought that he was
a phenomenal individual who was monstrously appreciated by devotees of Apple items and numerous
other individuals, whose lives were by one means or another impacted by his items. In addition, Steve
Jobs had mystique that affected his initiative style and brought about his conspicuous achievement. In
this way, Steve Jobs was accepted to have an appealing administration style, as indicated by Weber s
meaning of alluring initiative, in which he expresses that a magnetic pioneer more often than not
displays a particular conduct in having a dream, being charming, mentally invigorating individuals
who tail him, and moving and propelling individuals to go past the breaking points of desires.
Furthermore, magnetic pioneers continually search for change and change, hence, making
advancement, and affecting advancement. All the previously mentioned qualities identify with Steve
Jobs identity and initiative style. In this way, one can consider Steve Jobs a genuine magnetic pioneer
and a standout amongst the most persuasive pioneers of the 21st century. Steve Jobs has dependably
been viewed as an irregularity in administration; his initiative style was a comment or to reprimand,
yet unquestionably not to reproduce. He didn t fit into the systems of business reading material: there

39. Satisfier
In the Article Doing better but feeling worse: Looking for the best job undermines satisfaction,
researchers studied the satisfaction levels and decision making outcomes between those with
maximizing tendencies compared to those with satisfier tendencies. The study was designed around
the argument that, though maximizers appear to be less happy than satisfiers, are the maximizers using
strategies that objectively result in better outcomes (Iyengar, Wells, Schwartz, 2006)? Based on that
central argument, two hypotheses were developed for this study. The first hypothesis was based on the
topics of choices and decision making; it stated that the maximizers, compared to satisfiers, would put

Another issue area was both the characteristics of the participant sample and the various groups of
participants in the study. The age range that was used for this study, though it ranged from 21 57, was
still highly skewed towards a younger sample with a median age of 21. Age is a factor that could have
contributed to lower satisfaction levels because it suggests that this might have been the first real job
search and job itself that many of these individuals had (Iyengar, Wells, Schwartz, 2006). There could
have been more stress and lower satisfaction rates because many of the participants never had a job
relating to their college degree before. Another area of concern relating to the participants is that the
sample was largely female; this could cause a difference in how the results are relating to the
population (Iyengar, Wells, Schwartz, 2006).
There were also issues with the groups of participants that took part in the study because there were
three groups, T1, T2, and T3, that were involved in the study, but not all of the groups were tested for
all conditions of the study and there were different numbers of participants in each group as well.
Though T2 and T3 stemmed from T1, the groups still had different number of participants because of
the lower response rates (Iyengar, Wells, Schwartz, 2006). Lastly, a

40. `` 13, 1977, 21 By Jonathan Lethem
The essay I am analyzing is entitled simply as 13, 1977, 21 by Jonathan Lethem. It s personal
narrative that is a retelling of the author s childhood and it starts with Lethem confessing that he saw
the original Star Wars movie twenty one times in one summer when he was thirteen years old. Despite
what some readers may think, this essay is not about any kind of obsession he may have with Star
Wars. He tells more about the aspects of his childhood that related to the detail of his almost religious
coming and going to the movie theater, which serves as the sweet lace to the bitter truth of his
childhood. In this essay, Lethem purposefully uses the device of Star Wars to link details of that time
in his life to frame into what maybe the most important time in his life.
Lethem is a Brooklyn, New York native and talks about that summer in 1977 when he take the subway
to Astor Plaza, which is near Times Square, to see Star Wars. As he s confessing that during that
summer he saw the movie twenty one times, it sounds like he s on a stage admitting some sort of sin
to the audience as if they were his priest, and he tries to make it very clear that he is ashamed of it.
This works into the type of audience he s aiming to gain. This essay is sort of a trap. Within the first
sentence of the essay, In the summer of 1977 I saw Star Wars the original, which is all I want to
discuss here twenty one times. (245), he uses the popular subject of Star Wars to reel any wandering
reader. The

The Origin of The Japanese Values of Precision And Punctuality
Introduction
Precision and punctuality is believed to be the order of the day in the Japanese society in both
workplaces and social settings. Punctuality is highly regarded as an important factor that has
contributed to the success of the Japanese economy in global scene. In 2013, the train transport
between Osaka and Tokyo recorded an average delay of six seconds only. There is a deep sense of
respect for other people s businesses with concerns that such activities should not be interrupted due to
lateness. However, the lack of flexibility has been faulted by critics who believe that the Japanese
people are too obsessed with time keeping and precision. However, the origin of such values is still
unknown to many with questions arising on whether such values existed before industrialization in
Japan. The fact that the values are associated with Japan s position as a global economic powerhouse
raises concern on the origin of such values.
The History of the Japanese Culture of Punctuality and Precision

The Tokugawa period Researchers believe that the Japanese were not punctual in Tokugawa period,
which lasted between 1603 and 1868. In 1857, a historical document by Willem Van Kettendyke

Literature Response to Fantomina by (Eliza Haywood) The Age of Enlightenment is a very vital part
in human history. This time period was one of a new found understanding. Many women accepted
society for what it was and depended on men for guidance. Some would say a person who isn t
enlightened has characteristics of a child. Most men had the freedom to do as they pleased. Eliza
Haywood shows many hardships faced by women during this time period. In the story Fantomina she
battles the stereotype of women being dependent, A young lady of distinguished birth, beauty, wit, and
spirit (Haywood, 569). She showed that not only men could become Enlightened, women could also
be Enlightened. This is a true display of female authority. In every

which his characterized by snoring, sleep disturbance and day time sleepiness. There is a close relation
between OSA and hypertension; as many as one third of hypertensive patients and above 80% of those
with resistant hypertension have OSA.
Alcohol Higher intake of alcohol increases the blood pressure. Reducing alcohol leads to fall in the
systolic blood pressure.
Stress Psychological or environmental stress play a part in the causes of hypertension. Direct effects
of situations such as poverty, unemployment and poor education (stressors) are involved, as are other
aspects of lifestyle that are linked to hypertension.
Exercise Physical activity increases blood pressure, but people who exercise regularly have lower
blood pressures. Such people, however, also may have a healthier diet and more sensible drinking and
smoking habits.
Other dietary factors Vegetarians generally have lower BP than non vegetarians. Reducing a meat rich
diet with vegetable products reduces blood pressure. Caffeine and caffeinated drinks also increases
blood pressure and must be avoided.
THE VARIOUS BODY MECHANISMS THAT CAUSES AND INFLUENCES HYPERTENSION
The various mechanisms that cause and influences hypertension are actually built into us for good
reasons: we need them to keep our blood pressure from falling too low. But when they go somewhat
awry, they cause high blood pressure. And when that happens, we need treatment for hypertension,
ironically aimed at the same mechanisms.

48. Analysis Of The Film Notorious
Any avid Hitchcock fan has undoubtedly seen the film Notorious. Notorious tells the story of Alicia
Huberman (Ingrid Bergman) who gets recruited by government agent Devlin(Cary Grant) to infiltrate
the house of known nazi supporters in the hopes of uncovering their master plan. At the end of the
movie, the final shot is Alexander Sebastian(Claude Rains) walking back to his group of nazi
supporters, denoting his demise is soon to follow. However, what the film doesn t show is what will
happen with the relationship between Devlin and Alicia, which fluctuates throughout the movie. This
uncertainty has been under constant debate among viewers as to whether or not these lovers were
meant to last, or if the love for each other will soon fade. While some people believe their love will
not last since the they are polar opposites of each other and through some cinematic choices in the
film, such as the long kiss they share in the beginning of the movie, I believe that by looking at the
narrative structure of their relationship, as well as cinematic choices in relation to the development of
the plot, you can see that their love is indeed, meant to last.
In all conventional films, there is a cinematic formula most pictures live by. All conventional film
follows a three act structure; The first act being an introduction of characters and conflict, the second
act is when the complications arise, causing there to be a setback or additional decision, and ultimately
