Transportation Cost Of International Trade Increased...
Over the last decades, the growth of international trade increased significantly. Especially with
increased export from Asian countries with lower production costs. Since transportation cost takes a
significant portion among all of the elements in logistics chain, it is important to plan and calculate
most efficient route. With growth of international shipping also increased domestic movements of
freight. Companies has to find an optimal solution for moving their goods from factory to warehouse
and from warehouse to distribution centers. Organizations has to look at many factors (objective and
subjective) before they will make a rational decision and pick a suitable technique. To solve this
problem, many researches has proposed various techniques. The paper offers a solution to
transportation model. TRANSPORTATION PROBLEM. Transportation modeling demonstrates
slightest expense method for delivery supplies from origin points to destination points. When do we
need to apply transportation problem: Find minimum shipping cost; Find the location, which has a
lower cost; Determine minimum cost production schedule. What do we need to apply the
transportation model: Capacity or supply per period of time at each source; The demand per period of
time at each destination; The shipping price between each destination point. Sample problem: In a 3x3
transportation problem, let x_ij be the amount shipped from source i to destination j and c_ij be the

Cultural Technology And Its Impact On Western Asia
Cultural proximity is the nationally, rather locally developed content that is related and supports
traditional identities concerning regional, ethnic, language, religion and other cultural components
(Georgiou, 2012).Cultural proximity is related to Confucian which is a common cultural belief in East
Asia that had been commonly used as a tool to enhance the consumption various idea including media
content in the region. Chua (2004) argument that the commonness in Confucian basis to East Asia
region culture as having been overtaken by a common popular cultural circulation via the media
suggests that cultural proximity is not a major tool any more in determining the consumption of media
content within the region. This can be explained by the current trend where everything is going in the
global direction.
With globalization and advancement in technology, local is going global and the global is attempting
to become local or rather regional. In the modern world there are no boundaries for political,
economic and cultural concepts overlap, converge, and collide beyond regional boundaries not only in
the East Asia region but in the entire world. Confucian was utilized by governments to promote their
economies, but people became skeptical like in the case of a incidence in straits Times (1998) ; where
governments were perceived as weak and corrupt and only utilizes Confucian for its own good and
more worse the Asian financial crisis displaced the Confucian project(Tu 1991).In

It is often difficult for film to be well accepted by its audience unless the recipe contains appropriate

However, it is impossible to know for sure that the boy is innocent when so many evidences are
against him and according to the boy s alibi it appears as if someone framed him, which is highly
improbable. So even though Mr. Davis rationally opposed all the evidences along with his fellow
jurors assumptions and prejudices, their arguments were valid. The boy was regularly abused by his
father; he belongs in a neighbourhood where crime is occupation. And he did have a hostile argument
with his father the night he was killed. It is 90% possible that he committed the crime. Although n the

Medical Malpractice Lawsuits Essay
Introduction: Medical malpractice lawsuits are an extremely serious topic and have affected numerous
patients, doctors, and hospitals across the country. Medical malpractice is defined as improper,
unskilled or negligent treatment of a patient by a physician, dentist, nurse, pharmacist, or other health
care professional (Medical malpractice, n.d.). If a doctor acts negligent and causes harm to a patient,
malpractice lawsuits arise. Negligence is the concept of the liability concerning claims of medical
malpractice, making this type of litigation part of tort law. Tort law provides that one person may
litigate negligence to recover damages for personal injury. Negligence laws are designed to deter
careless behavior and also to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Basic Requirements for a Claim: In order to claim that a doctor or hospital was negligent in a medical
malpractice case, there must be specific requirements present. First off a doctor patient relationship
must have existed (Boeschen, 2014). An individual making the claim must show that there was a
physician patient relationship with the doctor being sued. This means the doctor was hired and agreed
to be hired for the medical care provided. If a doctor began seeing you and treating you, it is easy to
prove a physician patient relationship existed. Second the plaintiff must show the doctor was
negligent. Regardless of if the patient is unhappy with their treatment or results, does not determine
the doctor is liable for medical malpractice. The doctor must have been negligent not reasonably
skillful and careful in a diagnosis or treatment (Boeschen, 2014). To sue for malpractice, you must be
able to show that the doctor caused you harm in a way that a competent doctor, under the same
circumstances would not have (Boeschen, 2014). In many cases, the doctor s care is not required to be
the best possible, but simply reasonably skillful and careful (Boeschen, 2014). Whether or not the
doctor was reasonably skillful and careful is often up to the medical malpractice claim. Another basic
requirement of a medical malpractice claim is whether or not the doctor s negligence caused the
injury. Many malpractice cases involve patients that were already

The Challenges of Introducing New Technology

06 Oct 2010 Technologies that are new to an organization present a number of issues simply because
they are new. Such issues are rarely addressed properly or sufficiently, if at all. The lack of a formal
process for introducing new technology into an IT environment is one of the biggest challenges faced
by companies looking to leverage new products. Here is a look at how you can plan for introducing

these goals. A possible future trend that might lead to equally large numbers of new technologies and
products is the concept of cloud computing, just to name one last example. Another trigger for new
technology can come from the lines of business in an enterprise. New business requirements might
arise that result in the need for technology that an IT organization currently does not support.
Examples for the technologies that have to be introduced to the IT landscape in those cases are portals,
multi channel architectures, or business rule systems.
A lifecycle for new technology
Despite the wide variety of new technologies (as defined above) and just as many possible triggers for
these technologies, you can still define a common lifecycle that all technologies share. The lifecycle
described in Table 1 is such an example; there are many variations but all would include these same
major aspects: Table 1. Sample technology lifecyle

form of a proof of concept. Initial planning has been conducted for the technology to go into
production in support of a business solution, which will act as a pilot. The planning

Analysis Of A Beautiful Mind
I had a class where a couple of student had a presentation about Schizophrenia and when we got this
assignment, I wanted to see if this film would be the type of film to portray people with schizophrenic
with a comprehensive determination, and then avoid the usual judgements such as a person that is
really terrifying, psychotic, killer or just plain rare person.
As read and saw the film of A Beautiful Mind, John Nash is perceived as a scary guy. From the scene
where he leaves his child in the tub because he thinks that his friend Charles is looking over the child
while he is doing something else, where he almost hurts his wife while he listens to the voice that tells
him to finish her, the film pictures Nash as a man who can be dangerous when he is faced with an
episode. Putting aside my own thoughts, I have to add that this story has great strengths, thanks to
the great performances of Russell Crowe as John Nash, and Jennifer Connelly that plays his wife
Alicia.
Crowe gives a impeccable and beautiful performance, and almost makes it perfect. In his character of
John Nash they showed many sides of him: the painfully disagreeable child at Princeton, the sarcastic
humorist, the rightfully arrogant mathematician, the anxious and pitiful receiver of the full invasion of
psychotically hallucinations, and these characterizations are basically working. But the young Nash,
despite being an outstanding unconventional genius on his first postgraduate research, he is not that

In the Cost of Goods Sold area, the variance is $2,000. Here, they should rethink their strategy in their
budget. They should make sure that their budget is enough to cover the actual expense of their
products and have more budget in the next order.
In the Electricity section, they should consider using energy saving materials for their resort. Not only
they can save in electricity, they can also save in their income.
In concern with their repairs, they can save more buy using durable equipment and materials to reduce
repair costs and should have maintenance every day to make sure that damages can be reduced,
therefor reducing the cost of repairs.
Administration Costs, here the budget should be a little higher than $2,250. It should be at least $3,000
or more but not too high. Administration should be able to use the budget efficiently. Responsibility
centers are recommended in this matter to further help the resort in budgetary controls.
Wages in Catering and Beverages have no need for improvement, it is in a good state and is with
balance with income and expenses just make sure that the service is good enough to equal the wages
to the staff.
In the Advertising section, the budget is ok and in the actual, you can use it in making new advertising

Water Vs Tap Water
Water is colorless, transparent, odorless, tasteless liquid that forms the sea, lakes, rivers, and rain and
is the basis of fluids of living organisms. The source of water is from meteorites that are still falling to
the surface of Earth. Many of those meteorites contain quantities of water in crystal lattices. When
they melt, the water is released. (Some Basics of Water and the Hydrosphere) Humans need water to
survive on Earth, so we created bottled water and tap water. Humans drink water every day, but which
is better? Tap water is the best drinking water in the United States of America. That is because tap
water is safer, cheaper, and tastes better than bottled water.

Moreover, the water from public water systems is often compromised after emergency situations or
natural disasters (e.g., hurricanes, floods, tornadoes, fires, or boil alerts). During these times, bottled
water is a necessary and reliable alternative to deliver clean, safe drinking water. However, tap water
does provide in most cases a safe source of drinking water, even if occasional system failures make it
necessary for consumers to search for alternatives during these times. (Bottled Water vs Tap Water) If
and when an Emergency happens, you and your family can simply buy reusable, refillable water
bottles and 3 gallon jugs of water for each family member. Also, natural disasters are not common,

Schizophrenia In The Tell-Tale Heart
If one has ever read The Tell Tale Heart by Edgar Allan Poe, they would soon realize that the narrator
of the story is not of sound mind. The narrator of The Tell Tale Heart has schizophrenia. Schizophrenia
is a mental disorder in which the affected person experiences severe erratic deviations in actions,
altered and denying reality. When The Tell Tale Heart was written, mental illnesses were not
understood. So, therefore, the outcome for mental illness patients were either with priests or jailtime.
From the outside point of view, the narrator s actions would have seemed abrupt, but to the narrator
his actions were primarily rational. The Tale Tell Tale Heart involves three main behaviors that are
considered to be symptoms of schizophrenia. One of those symptoms portrayed in this story is
delusions. The narrator shows signs of referential delusions, referential delusions are the phenomenon

A hallucination is a perception of having experienced something that is not actually there. Throughout
the story, the narrator experiences hallucinations. He experiences mostly auditory hallucinations. The
reader knows the narrator experiences auditory hallucinations when he says I knew that sound well,
too. It was the beating of the old man s heart (Poe, 2008, p.204). Another line that proves the narrator
is experiencing hallucinations is It grew louder louder louder! And still the men chatted pleasantly and
smiled. Was it possible they heard it not? (Poe, 2008, p.206), showing that the sounds were not real
and the only person who heard them was the narrator. Not to mention, it is physically impossible to
hear another person s heartbeat without proper equipment. To add to this impossibility, it is also
impossible for a dead person s heart to beat. These facts combined with the men not hearing the
heartbeat prove the narrator was experiencing auditory

The Negative Effects For Children Born Into Interracial...
The Negative Effects for Children Born Into Interracial Families
The union between Blacks, Whites, Hispanics, Asians, or any other group can be categorized as an
interracial marriage. It does not matter what ethnic groups are involved: one prominent result of
interracial marriages are the children that are born into these families. Interracial dating becomes a
problem because people cannot seem to ignore race. Racial identity is constant, unavoidable, and has
consequences that are very real. The color of one s skin impacts how society will accept a person and
also determines the advantages and disadvantages one will receive. Children begin to get stressed
when there are conflicts that involve their dual ethnic identity. Children who are born to interracial
families suffer the impact of negative consequences on their psychological well being. This paper
presents some background of the history of interracial marriages and some of the issues surrounding
children of interracial marriages, and some of the negative aspects as they grow older.
History/Background
The Supreme Court case of Loving v. Virginia speaks directly to the topic of this paper. In 1958,
Richard Loving married Mildred Jeter in Washington DC. Afterward, the two returned to Virginia as a
married couple. Richard was a white man, while Mildred was a black woman. Even though Richard
and Mildred did not get married in Virginia, the issue was Virginia had banned the interracial
marriages since 1961. Therefore,

What Is Ha s Experience In Inside Out And Back Again
Ha s life as a refugee In the novel, Inside out and back again, written by Thanhha Lai is about a 10
year old girl named Ha faces many challenges throughout the war because they were forced to leave
their home. When they, the refugees flee, they are going for safety, avoiding the war, and they go

The Not Neutral Net Neutrality
The Not So Neutral Net Neutrality

Abstract
Net Neutrality stands to define the future of internet. I will discuss the pros and cons, the different
perspectives on the subject, the effects on providers (such as Netflix) and consumers, and some of the
future implications of this contentious issue. Net Neutrality is one of the defining struggles of what
role technology and information will play in our future. What regulations should there be on internet
freedom, censorship and the free market? There are many rivaling interests between various
companies, consumers and the government. The military s reliance upon internet resources means we
will have to adapt to this emergent problem as it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There has been a recent push by several ISPs to give them the freedom to choose how and what data is
allowed to flow through their networks. There are several arguments for and against this line of
thinking. Should the internet remain the way it has been, or does it need to change?
Pros for Change
There are many reasons the ISPs and others have given that argue for a need to change. The internet
has certainly changed over the years, it would make some sense that things will have to evolve and
change with it.
There are some internet services that consume disproportionate amounts of bandwidth. The obvious
example is Netflix. During peak hours of internet usage, Netflix stands head and shoulders above
other applications. In 2013 CNET reported that Netflix was 31% of the total downstream traffic. This
means that Netflix alone accounts for almost a third of all internet traffic during peak times. The strain
upon ISPs to provide the necessary infrastructure to support the high bandwidth of video and audio
streaming is a big argument for a change to Net Neutrality. This change has already been observed, as
ISPs have effectively charged Netflix a premium in order to allow Netflix to reach its customers
without crippling throttling. The below is from Sandvine, who is a Canadian ISP. They tracked the
bandwidth usages during peak hours and came up with these startling findings.
Another big consumer of internet bandwidth is YouTube.

Native Americans And The Americans
1.The initial contact between Native Americans and the Europeans was far more unique than any other
racial interaction because the Native Americans were already residing in the United States. As for
other ethnic groups, they were foreign to the new soil in Northern America. At first, the Native
Americans held hospitality towards the arriving Europeans, whereas, the Europeans did not hold any
hospitality towards the arriving immigrants. The Europeans response to the Native Americans
hospitality was to slaughter and exploit the entire race for the mere profit of land access.
2.Certain myths about Native Americans make them feel as if there is no progress within their
community. Within the media, Native Americans are often portrayed towards living in archaic
conditions with structures such as teepees. These images often lead people to think that the Native
community has not evolved with the white society. Thus, when images of Native chiefs and princess s
are shown they offend them because they are only represented by the white supremacist viewpoint.
These images make people believe that the Natives are stuck at a certain time period. Whenever
images like the Nobel Savage are introduced it causes many within the Native community to get
fueled with anger because it is not true, for Natives had already developed civilizations amongst their
own people with equality for all. The Nobel Savage ideal portrays them as vulnerable people, when in
fact; Native Americans were capable of

Examining The Functional Connectivity Of A Whole Brain Atlas
Background: The brain is often considered the most complex organ in the human body. It is also the
most difficult to understand, given the vast array of different functions spread throughout its mass and
the interconnected functionality of its regions that makes subdividing it based on form or function a
difficult task. Craddock, et al. (2012), in the article examined, attempt to produce a method for further
examining the functional connectivity (FC) of the regions of the brain and subdivide them based on
spatial positioning and function. Understanding FC in the brain can significantly improve
understanding of many brain functions and the effect of outside stimulus of various parts of the brain.
This examination will only be able to take place by creating an accurate whole brain atlas. This
creation of a whole brain atlas, or a map of the brain separating it into regions of interest (ROI) based
positioning and/or function, has typically been done via fMRI analysis of the brain combined with an
anatomically based mapping procedure. This study seeks to use fMRI technology combined with an
algorithm to create voxel clusters or ROI s that optimize both spatial coherence and homogeneity in
regards to the FC of the individual ROIs that can closely match of the results of a voxel wise analysis,
while improving on computation power required and interpretability.
Clinical Significance: The usefulness of this technology and methodology can be found in both

who are living alone or are left alone during the day. By pressing the button, they are summoning help
from a base station that would notify a call center operator. More modern versions also come as
necklaces, but other help buttons are mounted throughout the homes, which can be pressed to connect
directly with call centers. Some even have a feature to detect a fall and automatic call for help. These

IS THE BEST BRAND? The best medical alert bracelet would be the one with a tracking device.
While ID bracelets provide names and contact numbers of parents, the tracking bracelets go further by
letting the parents track their children. This is very important for parents who wants to know where
their children are, if they arrived in school of if they arrived to where they are supposed to be. Best of
all, parents want to know where their children are at any given time. CONCLUSION Although some
parents go all the way in personalizing their children s medical ID bracelet by adding more

should wear. Adding more features like tracking to the bracelet will definitely make it a must for every

authority claimed by the attorney general is both beyond his expertise and incongruous with the
statutory purposes and design. The Supreme Court s ruling was not a final definite statement on
federal authority having the power to override state physician assisted suicide laws, it was in its basic
form a declaration that the current federal laws did not allow it and did not give the authority to the
Attorney General to make a decision like he did. While the Supreme Court was correct in their
decision, it could still have repercussions outside of the state of Oregon. Jay Sekulow, Chief Counsel
of the American Center for Law and Justice, was one person that did not agree with the court s
decision, he stated that This is a disappointing decision that is likely to result in a troubling movement
by states to pass their own assisted suicide laws. Senator Ron Wyden, a supporter of the physician
assisted suicide law, said that the ruling has stopped, for now, the administration s attempts to wrest
control of decisions rightfully left to the states and

Summary Of The Death And Life Of Great American Cities By...
In the introduction of The Death and life of Great American Cities, Jane Jacobs acknowledges city
planning and the need for a reform by addressing the effects of beautification and the lack of resources
and support.
In her introduction of The Death and life of Great American Cities, Jane Jacobs introduces city
planning and presents the reader with real life view. She also explains the principles of planning and
the effects it contains on social and economic issues. Jacobs highlights the theory of beautification and
the lack of city planners understanding the needs of the general people. She continues by
acknowledging the Decentrists and the common disciplines with modern city planners such as

Jacobs addresses the most common idea of city planning as beautification and questions the effect it
has on restoring a neighborhood. Jacobs states Handsome is as Handsome does. All that glitters are
not gold (Jacobs 15). As much as the city can be beautified and full of parks and land it does not make
up for the needs of the people. Jacob provides the example of a housing project and a lawn; Everyone
in the housing project was upset and seem to have an opinion on having a lawn, when someone finally
asked why and bothered to listen to the people, they realized that the people wanted a space to come
together but unfortunately no one had bothered to ask. (15) Unfortunately, due to the lack of resources
it is house projects like this that are often referred to as slums. Jacobs explains that ideally tax money
would be used to fix the communities and allow for beautification. However due to economical stance
of many neighborhoods and the city planning ideology it seems close to impossible. Jacobs writes
Bankers, like planers have theories about cities on which they act... They are enlightened

Know And Learned About Bats
Things I Know and Learned About Bats
Here are some things I know about bats. Bats are nocturnal, which means they are active at night.
They use echo location. Bats aren t very good with their eyesight, they re nearly blind! So for this they
use their hearing, which is echo location. With echo locations bats send out a sound which spreads out,
other animals in the location have these sounds bounce off their body going back to the bat. Which
then helps the bats find prey or help with their motion of direction. Bats are also mammals this means
they are warm blooded. Some bats carry diseases so if you got a nasty bite from a bat you could
possibly get ill.
Alright here are some things I want to know about bats. Why are bats called bats? It sounds

The Effect Of Daylight And Control On Artificial Light And...
ABSTRACT: Availability of daylight in a building not only improves the well being of an individual
but also plays an important role in reducing our dependence on artificial light and the operational cost
of a building. Daylight if not controlled could cause the major problem of solar heat gain in a building
and thus causing an increase in the air conditioning cost of the building especially in warm climates.
Offices being one of the building categories that need to be well lit regardless of their size and
location, it is important to optimize the daylight and control the heat gain in an office building. This
paper discusses the different daylight strategies to achieve this.
1. INTRODUCTION A room is not a room without natural light. Louis I Khan
Buildings in the residential, commercial and public sectors are responsible for 20 40% of the total
energy consumption in the world [Pérez Lombard, L. Ortiz, J. and Pout, C., (2008)]. Around 70% of
this consumption is spent on artificial light and air conditioning systems [Energy Information
Administration, (2008)]. Especially in office buildings as shown in Fig.1.1 [Guide to Best Practice
Maintenance Operation of HVAC Systems for Energy Efficiency (January 2012)] that the energy
consumption due to HVAC is 39% and lighting is 25%. In countries having warm climates like India

Brave New World Literary Devices
In the book, Brave New World, the author, Aldous Huxley, creates and alternated world in the 1930 s
to show us how political and society were during that year. There was a lot of cruel, violence,
segregations compare to the world in BNW. He also uses many literary devices to tell use what his
society looks like during the 1930 s. During this time the WWii was going on and this was a big deal
to the world because there was a lot of dramas and other dangerous things going on. Some of those
devices are simile, details, metaphor...
One major event was people being considerate about others instead on themselves. One of the literary
devices that Aldous Huxley uses is metaphor to give us a description of what is happening to Lenina
and how she acts, also help her remind her who the real Lenina is. Lenina liked the drums. Shutting
her eyes she abandoned herself to their soft repeated thunder, allowed it to invade her consciousness
more and more completely, till at last there was nothing left in the world but that one deep pulse of
sound. It reminded her reassuringly of the synthetic noises made at Solidarity Services and Ford s Day
celebrations. Orgy porgy, she whispered to herself.
These drums beat out just the same rhythms (107 8). Lenina is thinking deep about herself and what
she is really like. She also think about her inner self and listening to the repeated beats over and over it
reminds her of the Solidarity Services. Aldous Huxley is comparing this to today s

A Good Sheep Are Law Obeying Citizens Essay
125 Word Essay
Some man are stronger then others. They are born into ruling over others becoming the shepherd over
the sheep. A good sheep are law obeying citizens. This brings good things to come when the sheep is
peaceful and hard working for the shepherd. The shepherd allows the sheep to have food and shelter,
so they can work hard. This shows that all men are not created equal.
Are action are benefitting or harming others all the time. But, if that is true how can justice be define
as helping friends and harming no one. In the geek time people wanted to do what the gods do, which
is misbehaving. (Killing, Rapping) The unraveling of Geek sociality. We can see this happening in the
US in present time. The sophists offered young wealthy Greek men an education in aretē (virtue or
excellence), thereby attaining wealth and fame. If we lives in a unjust world if could led to violence.
To love something is to lack it (needs, wants, desires). Someone can desire to be like a certain person.
It is what you lack, that is what you desire. For example, a men could be the biggest Red Sock fan but
can t even hit a ball.
A philosopher doesn t give a hoot about money and honor. Love wisdom.

Ethnic Demonstrations Of Indonesi The Toraja
There are numerous ethnic gatherings in Indonesia .One of them is the Toraja in South Sulawesi .The
word Toraja originates from the bugis dialect to raja significance meaning individuals of the uplands
(Klass et al,1999:45).This name occurred when the Dutch provincial government named them .In
toraja there is still religion called aluk todolo this runs nearby muslim and Christianity .In this article I
will inspect the torajan rituals and customs around myth, death and ancestor worship.
Toraja is roughly 3,180 square kilometers, initially intensely forested, has been changed by
development. The couple of remaining woods spread slants unacceptable for development. The main
method for subsistence is farming. Rice, cassava, and maize are the staples; espresso and cloves are
the vital money crops. (Bigalke,1981;13)Creature cultivation is practiced on a vast scale, however just
the rearing of pigs is of financial significance. The bison, a grown up toy, is once in a while utilised
for function as a part of the fields. The creature has principally a ritualised function, for the prevalent
kind of death feast requires many buffalo
The autochthonous religion of the Toraja is called Aluk To Dolo to dolo actually implies that is,
conviction of the old, or customs of the precursors. (Chambert et al 2002:117)In this religion,
precursor clique, myth, and custom are entwined. Amid therituals, the to minaa, a minister

The Human Auditory System For Learning New Languages
Young minds adapt to learning new languages more easily than developed minds. When you are
young you don t understand where the language comes from you, you simply imitate the sounds and
words that you hear being spoken. When a baby first realizes they have a voice they making
nonsensical noises constantly. As they begin to feel comfortable they start repeating after words they
hear usually beginning with mommy , daddy and no . While this initial speaking usually happens
around thirteen to fourteen months, a baby can begin learning their language skills before they are
born, The human auditory system is functional from the third trimester on, and the loudest thing an in
utero baby hears is its mother s voice, speaking whatever language or languages she knows. Those
sounds, with their characteristic rhythms and phonemes, are poured straight into the baby s brain and
become comfortingly familiar (Klugger).
You might think that having a child learn two languages at once is too difficult for their young brains
to comprehend. I agree that learning two languages at once is quite difficult. Studies have shown that
is it easier to learn two languages when you are younger compared to when you are older. At Spring
Lane Elementary School in Utah the children take half of their classes in English and the other half of
their classes in Chinese. Their progress has been something to be noted. They made steady progress
through the year, Ridge says. We started school

Establishing Therapeutic Relationships At Risk Children...
Establishing therapeutic relationships is an effective way in facilitating positive change with an
individual. It encourages both, working professionals and clients to participate in a relationship built
on respect, acceptance, trust and empathy, to name a few. Building such trusting bonds, can allow
professionals to gain a better perspective in the challenges and experiences of at risk children and
youth. In my own words, the term at risk children and youth can be defined at those experiencing far
greater risks than resilience in their most critical settings, often making their transition into adulthood
difficult. Based on the content in Trouble Youth and Children, Chapter 5 by Brendtro and Shahbazian
(2004), I will outline five key guidelines I, as a child and youth worker would use in my work with at
risk kids, when developing therapeutic relationships and extending attachment.
Discovering Commonalities The professional client relationship impacts every aspect of a child s
wellbeing. When children or youth don t feel like they are known, they are less likely to engage or
invest in the relationship. Brendtro and Shahbazian (2004) discuss finding some commonalities to
lower stranger barrier . Finding shared interests, qualities or experiences with the clientele, helps to
build trust and develop a purposeful relationship. Children and youth love to talk about themselves
and share their opinions and thoughts. Many looks for an opportunity to meet others who share

Theories of Psychology Essay
1. Theories of Multiple Intelligences: Howard Gardner proposed the theory of multiple intelligences in
his book, Frames of Mind in 1983 (Smith, 2006). Initially, Gardner spoke of seven intelligences and
later added two. The first two are considered fundamental and most revered in the public school
system, they are Linguistic intelligence and Logical Mathematic intelligence. Linguistic intelligence
includes the capability to use, speak and learn languages and words. Logical Mathematic intelligence
is the skill of working proficiently with numbers. Musical intelligence is the ability of performing,
recognizing, and writing music. Bodily Kinesthetic intelligence is utilizing the mind and the body
together to solve problems. Visual Spatial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When asked what season of the year, you would arrive at the conclusion that it is winter. Availability
Heuristics is when we base a conclusion or decision on the first thing that comes to mind (Roberts,
2006). For example, if you were asked what disease affects cigarette smokers most often? The first
thing that comes to our mind is cancer because it is the disease that is spoken of most often in
association with cigarettes. However, according to the American Heart Association (2008) heart
disease affects cigarette smokers more often than cancer. Framing is risk aversive problem solving
may be beneficial if both positive and negative information is considered. Rigidity is the inclination to
rely too heavily on prior experiences. Functional fixedness occurs when one cannot see other uses for
common items (Roberts, 2006). For example, you need a bucket to carry water for your flowers, you
do not have a bucket but you do have a garbage can, so what do you do? Think outside the box and
use the garbage can. Confirmation bias occurs when we seek out only the information that backs up
the choice that we want, omitting the facts that do not agree. (Roberts, 2006) I am currently
performing clinical II at a community healthcare facility. One of my duties as a medical assistant is to
schedule appointments for patients when they call in. Several factors are considered when making this
decision and I use representative

  • 8. Cultural Technology And Its Impact On Western Asia Cultural proximity is the nationally, rather locally developed content that is related and supports traditional identities concerning regional, ethnic, language, religion and other cultural components (Georgiou, 2012).Cultural proximity is related to Confucian which is a common cultural belief in East Asia that had been commonly used as a tool to enhance the consumption various idea including media content in the region. Chua (2004) argument that the commonness in Confucian basis to East Asia region culture as having been overtaken by a common popular cultural circulation via the media suggests that cultural proximity is not a major tool any more in determining the consumption of media content within the region. This can be explained by the current trend where everything is going in the global direction. With globalization and advancement in technology, local is going global and the global is attempting to become local or rather regional. In the modern world there are no boundaries for political, economic and cultural concepts overlap, converge, and collide beyond regional boundaries not only in the East Asia region but in the entire world. Confucian was utilized by governments to promote their economies, but people became skeptical like in the case of a incidence in straits Times (1998) ; where governments were perceived as weak and corrupt and only utilizes Confucian for its own good and more worse the Asian financial crisis displaced the Confucian project(Tu 1991).In ... • 10. Medical Malpractice Lawsuits Essay Introduction: Medical malpractice lawsuits are an extremely serious topic and have affected numerous patients, doctors, and hospitals across the country. Medical malpractice is defined as improper, unskilled or negligent treatment of a patient by a physician, dentist, nurse, pharmacist, or other health care professional (Medical malpractice, n.d.). If a doctor acts negligent and causes harm to a patient, malpractice lawsuits arise. Negligence is the concept of the liability concerning claims of medical malpractice, making this type of litigation part of tort law. Tort law provides that one person may litigate negligence to recover damages for personal injury. Negligence laws are designed to deter careless behavior and also to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Basic Requirements for a Claim: In order to claim that a doctor or hospital was negligent in a medical malpractice case, there must be specific requirements present. First off a doctor patient relationship must have existed (Boeschen, 2014). An individual making the claim must show that there was a physician patient relationship with the doctor being sued. This means the doctor was hired and agreed to be hired for the medical care provided. If a doctor began seeing you and treating you, it is easy to prove a physician patient relationship existed. Second the plaintiff must show the doctor was negligent. Regardless of if the patient is unhappy with their treatment or results, does not determine the doctor is liable for medical malpractice. The doctor must have been negligent not reasonably skillful and careful in a diagnosis or treatment (Boeschen, 2014). To sue for malpractice, you must be able to show that the doctor caused you harm in a way that a competent doctor, under the same circumstances would not have (Boeschen, 2014). In many cases, the doctor s care is not required to be the best possible, but simply reasonably skillful and careful (Boeschen, 2014). Whether or not the doctor was reasonably skillful and careful is often up to the medical malpractice claim. Another basic requirement of a medical malpractice claim is whether or not the doctor s negligence caused the injury. Many malpractice cases involve patients that were already ... Analysis Of A Beautiful Mind I had a class where a couple of student had a presentation about Schizophrenia and when we got this assignment, I wanted to see if this film would be the type of film to portray people with schizophrenic with a comprehensive determination, and then avoid the usual judgements such as a person that is really terrifying, psychotic, killer or just plain rare person. As read and saw the film of A Beautiful Mind, John Nash is perceived as a scary guy. From the scene where he leaves his child in the tub because he thinks that his friend Charles is looking over the child while he is doing something else, where he almost hurts his wife while he listens to the voice that tells him to finish her, the film pictures Nash as a man who can be dangerous when he is faced with an episode. Putting aside my own thoughts, I have to add that this story has great strengths, thanks to the great performances of Russell Crowe as John Nash, and Jennifer Connelly that plays his wife Alicia. Crowe gives a impeccable and beautiful performance, and almost makes it perfect. In his character of John Nash they showed many sides of him: the painfully disagreeable child at Princeton, the sarcastic humorist, the rightfully arrogant mathematician, the anxious and pitiful receiver of the full invasion of psychotically hallucinations, and these characterizations are basically working. But the young Nash, despite being an outstanding unconventional genius on his first postgraduate research, he is not that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Negative Effects for Children Born Into Interracial Families The union between Blacks, Whites, Hispanics, Asians, or any other group can be categorized as an interracial marriage. It does not matter what ethnic groups are involved: one prominent result of interracial marriages are the children that are born into these families. Interracial dating becomes a problem because people cannot seem to ignore race. Racial identity is constant, unavoidable, and has consequences that are very real. The color of one s skin impacts how society will accept a person and also determines the advantages and disadvantages one will receive. Children begin to get stressed when there are conflicts that involve their dual ethnic identity. Children who are born to interracial families suffer the impact of negative consequences on their psychological well being. • 20. The Not Neutral Net Neutrality The Not So Neutral Net Neutrality Andrew Powers SBOLC Ft Gordon Class 001 15B Abstract Net Neutrality stands to define the future of internet. I will discuss the pros and cons, the different perspectives on the subject, the effects on providers (such as Netflix) and consumers, and some of the future implications of this contentious issue. Net Neutrality is one of the defining struggles of what role technology and information will play in our future. What regulations should there be on internet freedom, censorship and the free market? There are many rivaling interests between various companies, consumers and the government. The military s reliance upon internet resources means we will have to adapt to this emergent problem as it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There has been a recent push by several ISPs to give them the freedom to choose how and what data is allowed to flow through their networks. There are several arguments for and against this line of thinking. Should the internet remain the way it has been, or does it need to change? Pros for Change There are many reasons the ISPs and others have given that argue for a need to change. The internet has certainly changed over the years, it would make some sense that things will have to evolve and change with it. There are some internet services that consume disproportionate amounts of bandwidth. The obvious example is Netflix. During peak hours of internet usage, Netflix stands head and shoulders above other applications. In 2013 CNET reported that Netflix was 31% of the total downstream traffic. This means that Netflix alone accounts for almost a third of all internet traffic during peak times. The strain upon ISPs to provide the necessary infrastructure to support the high bandwidth of video and audio streaming is a big argument for a change to Net Neutrality. This change has already been observed, as ISPs have effectively charged Netflix a premium in order to allow Netflix to reach its customers without crippling throttling. The below is from Sandvine, who is a Canadian ISP. They tracked the bandwidth usages during peak hours and came up with these startling findings. Another big consumer of internet bandwidth is YouTube. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 21. Native Americans And The Americans 1.The initial contact between Native Americans and the Europeans was far more unique than any other racial interaction because the Native Americans were already residing in the United States. As for other ethnic groups, they were foreign to the new soil in Northern America. At first, the Native Americans held hospitality towards the arriving Europeans, whereas, the Europeans did not hold any hospitality towards the arriving immigrants. The Europeans response to the Native Americans hospitality was to slaughter and exploit the entire race for the mere profit of land access. 2.Certain myths about Native Americans make them feel as if there is no progress within their community. Within the media, Native Americans are often portrayed towards living in archaic conditions with structures such as teepees. These images often lead people to think that the Native community has not evolved with the white society. Thus, when images of Native chiefs and princess s are shown they offend them because they are only represented by the white supremacist viewpoint. These images make people believe that the Natives are stuck at a certain time period. Whenever images like the Nobel Savage are introduced it causes many within the Native community to get fueled with anger because it is not true, for Natives had already developed civilizations amongst their own people with equality for all. • 22. Examining The Functional Connectivity Of A Whole Brain Atlas Background: The brain is often considered the most complex organ in the human body. It is also the most difficult to understand, given the vast array of different functions spread throughout its mass and the interconnected functionality of its regions that makes subdividing it based on form or function a difficult task. Craddock, et al. (2012), in the article examined, attempt to produce a method for further examining the functional connectivity (FC) of the regions of the brain and subdivide them based on spatial positioning and function. Understanding FC in the brain can significantly improve understanding of many brain functions and the effect of outside stimulus of various parts of the brain. This examination will only be able to take place by creating an accurate whole brain atlas. This creation of a whole brain atlas, or a map of the brain separating it into regions of interest (ROI) based positioning and/or function, has typically been done via fMRI analysis of the brain combined with an anatomically based mapping procedure. This study seeks to use fMRI technology combined with an algorithm to create voxel clusters or ROI s that optimize both spatial coherence and homogeneity in regards to the FC of the individual ROIs that can closely match of the results of a voxel wise analysis, while improving on computation power required and interpretability. Attorney General John Ashcroft made use of the CSA to prohibit certain medical practices illegitimate, including the allowance of doctors to prescribe lethal doses of medication to terminally ill patients (the Death with Dignity Act). This ruling was a reprimand for former Attorney General Ashcroft, who said in 2001 that physician assisted suicide was not a legitimate medical purpose and that Oregon doctors would be punished if they helped people die under the law. Justice Anthony Kennedy responded to the ruling saying that the authority claimed by the attorney general is both beyond his expertise and incongruous with the statutory purposes and design. The Supreme Court s ruling was not a final definite statement on federal authority having the power to override state physician assisted suicide laws, it was in its basic form a declaration that the current federal laws did not allow it and did not give the authority to the Attorney General to make a decision like he did. While the Supreme Court was correct in their decision, it could still have repercussions outside of the state of Oregon. Jay Sekulow, Chief Counsel of the American Center for Law and Justice, was one person that did not agree with the court s decision, he stated that This is a disappointing decision that is likely to result in a troubling movement by states to pass their own assisted suicide laws. • 27. The Effect Of Daylight And Control On Artificial Light And... ABSTRACT: Availability of daylight in a building not only improves the well being of an individual but also plays an important role in reducing our dependence on artificial light and the operational cost of a building. Daylight if not controlled could cause the major problem of solar heat gain in a building and thus causing an increase in the air conditioning cost of the building especially in warm climates. Offices being one of the building categories that need to be well lit regardless of their size and location, it is important to optimize the daylight and control the heat gain in an office building. This paper discusses the different daylight strategies to achieve this. 1. INTRODUCTION A room is not a room without natural light. Louis I Khan Buildings in the residential, commercial and public sectors are responsible for 20 40% of the total energy consumption in the world [Pérez Lombard, L. Ortiz, J. and Pout, C., (2008)]. Around 70% of this consumption is spent on artificial light and air conditioning systems [Energy Information Administration, (2008)]. Especially in office buildings as shown in Fig.1.1 [Guide to Best Practice Maintenance Operation of HVAC Systems for Energy Efficiency (January 2012)] that the energy consumption due to HVAC is 39% and lighting is 25%. When you are young you don t understand where the language comes from you, you simply imitate the sounds and words that you hear being spoken. As they begin to feel comfortable they start repeating after words they hear usually beginning with mommy , daddy and no . While this initial speaking usually happens around thirteen to fourteen months, a baby can begin learning their language skills before they are born, The human auditory system is functional from the third trimester on, and the loudest thing an in utero baby hears is its mother s voice, speaking whatever language or languages she knows. Those sounds, with their characteristic rhythms and phonemes, are poured straight into the baby s brain and become comfortingly familiar (Klugger). You might think that having a child learn two languages at once is too difficult for their young brains to comprehend. I agree that learning two languages at once is quite difficult.
