Elsme Music V National Broadcasting Company Case Study
The brief history of Sampling
The digital sampling existed since the 1960s, sampling was originally improved by musicians who
made an experiment and physically operate tape loops on a phonograph. Later on the late 1960s,
revolution of sampling impact the development of rock and jazz music. However, in the 1970s, hip
hop music industry was the first well know music genre to test and try the ability of the sampler in
purpose of reuse the primary works, mix and then relocated them into completely new context. Many
musician use a portion of prior sound recording, replaying unique and noticeable famous grooves or
cutting up breaks to produce new song as same as many producers that simply use sample of popular
and favourites parts of song and then mix or cut those in new attractive ways.
Using sampling in the music industry is become more popular in the age of electronic music and disco
in the mid 70s to the early 80s. Because of the improvement of digital sampling technology, recently,
the sampling computer software has been introduced and replace the traditional sampling methods.

Net Neutrality And Its Influence On The Internet
The internet has become the main source of information, communication, and entertainment for many
people. Services like Netflix have replaced cable in many homes while Amazon now has the
capability of same day shipping and even the shipping of food ingredients in some locations. We are
becoming ever more reliant on the internet for our day to day lives. We expect to have the ability to do
what we want on the internet. Watch whatever movie we like on Netflix, look up what your friend did
on Instagram, or even find that cat video someone told you about at work. Net Neutrality is the
concept that internet service providers allow you to use these services without interference. Websites,
services and information cannot be blocked, slowed down or prioritized over others. Net neutrality
means that all data should be treated equally (Kraemer). Net Neutrality is vital for our day to day lives
and a lot more important than it may seem. In fact, without Net neutrality, the internet would change
as we know it. The internet has always been an open platform for those who want their voices heard,
their ideas shared, or their projects and businesses expanded. Removing it means that the internet
would be a lot like paying for cable television. Internet service providers would be able prioritize
websites and even block competitors or those who simply cannot afford to pay. Net neutrality is
essential to allow users the free access of information he or she desires(Berkman). Ultimately, net

What Are Tattoos Research Paper
What Are Tattoos, and How Do They Work?
A tattoo is a piece of art that is permanently marked into the skin. Many ancient cultures believed that
the tattoo could provide protection against bad luck and disease, or even ward off evil spirits or
animals. They were also used to identify rank, social position, or group membership within a society.
Today, tattoos are a form of artistic expression. They sometimes tell stories, memorialize the death of
loved ones, or they may have no practical purpose at all, other than for decoration. Modern tattoos are
applied using a device that works like a small sewing machine, usually referred to as a tattoo gun.

Ancient people believed that if they were to get a tattoo of a certain animal, then they would have
protection against attacks from that animal. Also, the fiercest warriors of their time would have tattoos
that marked the significance of their battles. The same still holds true today, as tattoos are extremely
popular among our military. For instance, during WW1 and WW2 sailors would sometimes get tattoos
of propellers on their
Buttocks. This was because they believed it would bring them luck if their ship was ever sank, and
that they would hopefully not drown. Modern tattoos are applied using a handheld device that
simulates the movements of a sewing machine, most commonly referred to as a tattoo gun. A needle,
or needles is inserted into the tattoo gun, dipped in ink, and moved across the skin. The needles
rapidly move up and down, puncturing the skin and injecting colored ink. So why are tattoos
permanent? Because the ink goes so deep into the skin that it cannot be washed off? The answer may
supervise you. Tattoos are actually, similar to an infection. Every time the needle penetrates, it causes
a wound that alerts the body to begin the inflammatory process, which signal sends immune system
cells racing to the site of the wound (or multiple wounds, in the case of the five inch dragon breathing
fire across your chest).

The Journey Of Sally Ride
Sally Ride accomplished many things in her lifetime. Some of the most important being a part of the
first group of women introduced into NASA and inspiring children in science. Her accomplishments
in life made her a very honorable individual. Ride faced a variety of obstacles as she helped break the
barrier of women being introduced into NASA. Ride later became a professor at University of
California San Diego, and established her own company, Sally Ride Science, whose purpose was to
encourage young women to seek careers in science, math, and technology. Sally Ride was an
inspiration to woman and an active advocate for women to pursue and learn the importance of science,
math, and technology. Ride was launched into space on June 18th, 1983. She was not only the first
American woman but also the youngest astronaut in space. She went through a long process to be
accepted by NASA. She was up against thousands of other women who had also applied for the space
program. During her NASA career, she was launched into space two times. On her journey into space
for the first time Ride worked the robotic arm which helped place satellites in space, assisted the
commander during ascent, re entry, landing, and acting as flight engineer. Not only did Ride battle
stereotypes throughout her time at NASA, but she kept her personal life very quiet. She was involved
with Tam O Shaughnessy, although this was unknown until her death. Ride died of pancreatic cancer
in 2012 at only the age of 61.

Lydia And Lisa Ethical Dilemmas
When working with Lydia and her family, there are some ethical and cultural considerations that will
need to be addressed. Since both Lydia and Lisa are a part of the Filipino community, a Filipino
therapist runs the risk of entering a dual relationship with the clients due to mutual presence at Filipino
events. While entering a personal relationship with clients is frowned upon, some exposure outside of
the therapy room can be common. However, since this exposure can be expected, it can also be
adequately planned for. To maintain the professional relationship and limit the personal relationship,
the therapist and clients should discuss appropriate precautions for when both are present at
gatherings. For example, if both the therapist and the

The repetition of turn it around makes the listeners think about what should they do and what can they
do to try to stop things like children playing with guns, because the repetition makes the listeners hear
it more then once and therefore the will absorb it more and remember it , so they can turn it around.
Jack Johnson is writing about how children are influenced by what they see on TV. In this song the
boy watches violent shows that have people shooting each other with guns, the child now sees guns as
something you are able to use on people and kills another child. Sure I pulled the trigger but it needed
to be done, Cause life s been killing me ever since it begun this means that even the boy is blaming his
misdeeds on life, this challenges the beliefs of society because the boy is saying life is bad now, and
there isn t much good in life. TV has a large influence upon children and there shouldn t be shows
with guns and violence on at a time when children might be watching TV. The second stanza also
makes listeners argue whether or not parents are doing their job by actually being a parent and looking
out for their children, this can

New Zealand s banking system has its roots in continental Europe. The first trading bank (the union
bank of Australia) was established in 1840. After 1860, a numbers of other Australian and British

Key Security Position And Security
Key establishment [24] deals with establishing a shared secret key between two or more parties. One
can easily achieve the security services like confidentiality or data integrity. Methods for key
establishment can be classified into two types namely, key transport protocols and key agreement
protocols. A key protocol is a technique in which only one party creates or obtains secret value, and
securely transfers it to others. In key agreement protocol two or more parties derive the shared secret
where all parties contribute to the secret. Ideally, no single party can control what the final joint value
will be. Our key establishment protocol uses the key agreement protocol based on verifiable secret

MANETs are a kind of wireless ad hoc network (WANET) that usually has a routable networking
environment on top of a Link Layer ad hoc network. Advantage in MANETs is consisting of a peer to
peer, self forming, self healing network. Key agreement protocols are one of the fundamental
primitives of cryptography, and allow users to establish session keys securely in the presence of an
active adversary. For this we use verifiable secret sharing (VSS) and bilinear concepts in our project.
In cryptography, a secret sharing scheme is verifiable when the nodes are allowed to verify their
shares as consistent. A VSS has three phases: a Distribution phase, Verification phase and
Reconstruction phase. We implement the verification property of VSS in verifying shares. This
property is additionally ensured with the help of commitments in secret sharing schemes like Shamir s
secret sharing. We proceed by having knowledge on adhoc on demand routing protocol (AODV),
Destination Sequence distance vector (DSDV) protocols and using them in ns 2. In this project nodes
verify shares through commitments when the source sends shares of secret key to destination on
multiple ways and the destination reconstructs it by collecting all individual shares. After keys
sharing, the encrypted packets are send from source to destination at a specified time during runtime.
In our project we implement two party key agreement for MANET environment without

Host factors, the virulence of bacteria, and most importantly the presence of an endotracheal tube
determine the development of VAP. The tube is detrimental not only because it provides the conduit
for bacteria, but also because it abolishes the cough reflex.
Bacteria get access to the lungs via microaspiration and through the biofilm that is formed in the inner
surface of the endotracheal tube or leakage of secretions around the cuff. Spread from an adjacent site
of infection or via the blood represent rare causes of VAP. Pathogenic bacteria usually replace
endogenous flora and colonize the nasopharynx, the oropharynx, the sinuses and the stomach
subsequently collecting inside and around the endotracheal tube. Positive pressure ventilation also
contributes to VAP development by thrusting bacteria into the airways. Antibiotic exposure, severity
of underlying disease and previous surgery have been implicated as host factors [5,8].
Various strategies have been applied for the prevention of VAP, each with different levels of evidence.
Preventive measures against VAP development can be divided into five distinct groups:

This campaign was executed perfectly because of the way it made people want to forward the video to
other people within their social network. Perception of content quality within a video is based off three
things control, inclusion, and affection (Southgate, 102). The KONY 2012 video posses all of these
traits mainly focusing on inclusion and affection in a way that makes the user feel as if they are part of

(Southgate,102). KONY 2012 most certainly falls under the content quality perception because of the
intent in which people decided to share it with was to provoke strong feelings to the recipient, while
empathy is forwarding a video with the expectation of feedback from the recipient. Other campaigns

Former Senator Joseph McCarthy put it perfectly when he said, ... for the FBI is J. Edgar Hoover and I

John Edgar Hoover was born New Years Day in 1895. After years of education and law school he

(Directors). Hoover developed extensive training programs and followed the requirements himself. All
agents had to be in top physical condition, and be of outstanding appearance and character. Drinking
alcohol was prohibited on and off duty (Denenberg 35). Hoover held discipline as the most important
trait. He saw ... an undisciplined law enforcement agency as a menace to society (Hoover 39). For
himself and the people of the FBI, Mr. Hoover set rigid standards of personal behavior. Many agents
who were reluctant to work under the strict guidelines quit (Denenberg 31). He never apologized for

The Space Race was invoked by the growing technologies of the United States and Soviet Union s
space programs during the Cold War. The starting point of the Space Race was the launch of Sputnik 1
by the Soviet Union. The Space Race has impacted society greatly politcally, socially, and
economically. The Space Race was a very tense period of time in history because both the United
States and Soviet Union improved their technology to such a degree that the two countries have both
made it to space multiple times.
The Space Race has impacted the political, social, and economic aspects of the US society greatly. It
mainly affected the political aspect. A way that the lead of the Soviet Union in the Space Race affected
the US Society is the Vanguard rocket was prepared for launch at Cape Canaveral. On December
6/1957, the slender, delicate instrument was fired, began to rise, and then sank back down on itself,
crushing its engines and erupting into a huge fireball. The pathetic collapse was carried live on
television, right in front of the world. This was what we were capable of, while the Russians rode the

them four years to catch up to our atomic bomb and nine months to catch up to our hydrogen bomb.

Gullah Or Sea Island Creole English
Background information about the African languages that contributed to Gullah.
Gullah (or Geechee or Sea Island Creole English) formed separately on the Sea Islands off the coast of
the Carolinas, Georgia, and Florida throughout the 18th and 19th centuries among enslaved Western
Africans. They developed a language that combined grammatical, phonological, and lexical features
of the non standard English varieties spoken by white slaveholders and farmers in that region of the
United States along with those from numerous Western and Central African languages. According to
this view, Gullah developed separately, or distinctly, from African American English and varieties of
English spoken in the South.
Why was English first introduced?
English was first introduced in these sea islands and surrounding areas due to the large amount of
West African slaves that were taken from their home country that had many different dialects (Wolof,
Malinke, Mandinka, Bambara to name a few). Due to the difference in dialects a similar language was
needed for them communicate so English was used as it was a prevalent and accessible language

Swot Analysis Of Quick Trip Essay
Analysis of Quick Trip QuikTrip (QT) Corporation is a privately held company established in 1958
that specializes in convenience stores that service Western states. Through analysis of QuikTrip s
operating environment, we identified and evaluated opportunities the company can change or pursue.
This analysis was accomplished utilizing a strengths weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT)
analysis ensure a systematic evaluation is conducted. The mission of QuikTrip is to be the dominant
convenience/gasoline retailer in each market in which it operates ( About QT, 2016). QuikTrip s
strategy to accomplish this mission is focused on locating stores at key high volume locations rather
than the number of sites. In other words, extensive market research is conducted to determine the best
locations with high traffic volume, rather than opening as many stores as it can. Within the regions in
which QuikTrip operates, the company does not factor in whether or not the location they are
evaluating has competitors. Instead, the company counts on the service and value it offers to enable
QuikTrip to corner the market at each location it selects. The business model has worked well for
QuikTrip. Fortune magazine ranked QuikTrip on its list of Best Companies to Work For every year for
the last 14 years ( About QT, 2016). Using its founder s strategy of expanding to high volume
locations rather than just expanding into new territories, QuikTrip grew from a single store,

persecution, natural disasters, and mainly war. When they leave their country their live essentially turn
inside out. This happens when they are put into new experiences they are not used to and being
bullied. In the novel, Inside Out and Back Again, Ha is living a normal life before the war. As the war
is happening she goes through many things that make her life turn inside out. When she arrives in
America it turns back again as she tries to start a new life. The universal experience for refugees lives

school experience, she gets extra support from Mrs Washington. The text states, We found out

shows that she gets extra support when she s having trouble. This is the same for the syrian refugees
when they receive extra support from the school. It states in paragraph 9, In response to the flow of
new students school districts are increasing english instruction. They are also making extra efforts to
reach out to parents unfamiliar with the U.S school system. This reflects Ha s experience because they

The Impacts Of Globalization In China
Globalisation refers to the integration between different countries and economies and the increased
impact of international influences on all aspects of life and economic activity . China is the world s
second largest economy and is the fastest growing economy over the past decades, hence known as an
emerging economy, by sustaining an average rate of growth of around 10% GDP p.a (2014). Hence,
with the transition from a purely planned to a market driven or free market economy has also
facilitated progress in development, trade and increases in per capita income paving the way for
poverty reduction. The impacts of globalisation have enabled the Chinese government to adopt
various strategies in response, and consequently have had significant impacts on the Chinese economy
to promote _______ and _______. China has sustained a high rate of average annual growth in real
GDP 10.1% between 1998 and 2008. The growth rate peaked at 14.2% in 2007 but slowed to 9.2%
due to the impact of the Global Financial Crisis (GFC) on China s exports and inflows of foreign
investments. Hence, in 2015, China s growth was 6.9%, falling to 6.7% in 2016 and forecast at 6.7%
in 2017. Despite these recent slowdowns, the Chinese economy has seen a rapid rise in overall

closing and opening balance from march to June and this means that the business has short cash in this

Gender Is A Social Aspect Essay
Gender has always been around, but it has caused confusion for some about the true meaning, through
this, two perspectives have come to light. Those who believe that gender is something that you are
born with, your biological self that differentiates you from your opposite (male/female). Then there
are those who believe that gender is a social constructed aspect of ones life. What your parents and
society label you the minute you are born. Examples being a girl wears pink, a boy wears blue. These
colours are a significant symbol of assigning one a gender, for if they do not wear those colours (in
some instances) then people will not be able to distinguish them this generally shown in a newborn
babies case. Through a socially constructed perspective, certain ways of living are formed for each
persons gender, in olden day New Zealand, women, at a certain point in time were assumed to stay at
home, with the children and be good wives. Whereas men were to be in the labour force, whether it be
working class, or in the higher areas of parliament. This was all up until the mid 1800s were the first
wave feminism came into act.
There are many aspects within a persons educational life, that can affect them greatly, gender being
one of them. Depending on the job, a persons gender can hold major implications to their progression
in that area. In modern day, gender still holds a major impact on a persons life, especially if they are
females. All over the world there is still clear

Alfred Adler s Theory Of Psychology
Alfred Adler s theory Individual Psychology focused on the unique ability and motivation of the
individual and the importance of their place in society. Adler was more concerned about social
conditions more so than Freud, which may be the reason why they both parted ways. Alfred Adler had
a more of a holistic approach type theory of psychotherapy, a different worldview, which reflected a
more philosophical way of living. Despite theoretical differences with Freud, Adler went on to
establish a School of Individual Psychology. The reason that I chose this theory is his approach to a
holistic theory approach, as well as his approach to psychotherapy and psychopathology. From a
scientific perspective Adler s main core of personality has to do with striving for superiority, this idea
was to help those who have a sense of helplessness or the means of not having the ability to overcome
any situation (inferiority complex). In addition to that, Adler wanted to give those who followed a
sense of community. Moreover, Adler became a pioneer in his profession, which is something to be
admired. Adler was the first practitioner to provide family and group therapy, which provided the
education as a means of addressing the health of those within the communities. Alfred Adler was born
outside Vienna on February 7, 1870, in 1895 Adler graduated from the University of Vienna and
shortly thereafter began his career in the field of ophthalmology. Not too long after that,

The Theory Of Economic Development
With this inquiry I seek to establish the role of finance in economic development as presented by
Joseph Schumpeter in his book, The Theory of Economic Development, [1911] The book analyzes
elements that make up for economic development in a capitalistic society as viewed by Schumpeter.
The elements mentioned include and revolve around the subject of finance. Finance is simply defined
by investopedia.com as, Finance is the science that describes the management, creation and study of
money, banking, credit, investments, assets and liabilities [web]. The role of some of the mentioned
elements, along with others, in economic development are mentioned and discussed in Schumpeter s
Theory. Research has proven that the financial intermediary between economic growth and the
entrepreneur who seeks to build new markets. Schumpeter exhibits this notion in his work; the
purpose of this inquiry is to clarify the character finance plays in the economic advancement of a
capitalistic society. This will begin with the exposition of economic development as viewed by
Schumpeter followed by the financial role from different chapters of his book. This includes Credit
and Capital, Entrepreneurial Profit, and Interests on Capital. Schumpeter understanding of Economic
Development The second chapter of Schumpeter s Theory is his analysis of how an economy develops
as well as the elements that contribute to its growth. Firstly Schumpeter states what defines
development, that being the

Stability In Brave New World
The novel Brave New World by Aldous Huxley under takes the cost of stability, and explores what is
sacrificed for utopia. London is one of the many utopian societies in the Brave New World, built on
the values of Community, Identity, and Stability. In a contradictory fashion the outlier, Identity, is
sacrificed for stability. Society and class structure, are devoid of identity and community, a stable
system built for the superficial pleasures of life and control at the cost of freedom. This debate of cost

to change. Every change is a menace to stability. That s another reason why we re so chary of applying
new inventions. Every discovery in pure science is potentially subversive; even science must
sometimes be treated as a possible enemy. Yes, even science. (154). Science threatens the utopian

The Creator Of Star Wars
In the George Lucas film, the creator of Star Wars, has very strong Hindu beliefs. Similar to Hinduism
affecting our lives, so has it affected his to an extent, which can also be seen by the fact that he has
incorporated Hindu themes throughout the Star Wars film. This essay will explain, through different
examples, the way Lucas has pushed Hinduism into this movie. In the movie, The Empire Strikes
Back, it seems to portray some type of Hinduism in the first parts. Moreover, In the scene when Luke
Skywalker goes to find Yoda. As he arrives, Skywalker finds himself in a swamp or forest, trying to
find an old and wise master Yoda to learn the ways of the force. Later in that scene Luke gets a vision
that his friends are in great danger. Luke then prepares to departure to go save his friends. Yoda
persuades him not to go by saying that he must finish his training first because it is more important.
This specifies on the Hindu concept of job over blood. The duty over blood lesson can be looked as
examples in readings found in the Bhagavad Gita, where Krishna tells Arjuna to battle his cousin in
spite of his emotions for them, it is his job to do so. Towards the end of the training session, as Luke
begins to leave, Ben Kenobi tells Luke to never give into anger and hatred. This lesson is also taught
by Gandhi, which is explained in Hinduism.
Aside from the training sessions, there are several parts of Star Wars that portray examples of
Hinduism. An example of this would be

How Is Thailand Different From The Us
When comparing Thailand and the United States of America, there are many differences. For example,
the way each country is located on the globe. Thailand is located below and closer to the equator than

have a lot of beautiful places and are surrounded by body of oceans. Lots of people like to visit these
two countries; however, most people in Thailand want to move to the U.S. for jobs and better lives.

Thailand, there is no need for any license before being able to do any of those. On the hand, in the

Fear Of The Unknown Has Been A Constant Thread Intricately
Fear of the unknown has been a constant thread intricately interwoven throughout the tapestry of my
life. Although intricate in color and vast in depth, it has furrowed a chasm in my past, present and dare
I say future. As a seminarian on the verge of graduation the prior statement may appear somewhat
odd. Aptly applying a biblical scripture such as God has not given us the spirit of fear, but power, love
and a sound mind , should suffice to calm anxiety and trepidation. However, I have not found this the
case. With greater scrutiny, I ponder what are the next steps in my life and what are my expectations
for ministry? For the immediate future, I desire rest to regain a sense of peace and spiritual renewal.

My pastor, who served as my site supervisor was supportive of my interning at church, although there
were occasions where we differed on matters of best methods to fulfill ministerial obligations. He
strongly affirms that nothing comes before God. Unfortunately, this includes all obligations outside of
the church, i.e. family, work, and school. Vacation may be permissible, but not time off to attend to
matters outside of church. On one occasion, my place in the leadership training course was at stake
due to my seeking time away to handle school deadlines that were steadily approaching. This caused
great angst for all parties concerned, which was very disconcerting for me. The reasoning for taking
such a hard stance is primarily due to this course being the first leadership training class held at the
church, taught by the pastor. He wants to see a return on his investment of time and resources.
Although, I do understand the importance of dedication and commitment, equally vital is the necessity

The Critical Medical Issue of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus
Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM)
Diabetes is one the most critical medical issues of our time. According to the Center of Disease
Control and Prevention nearly 26 million Americans (approximately 8% of all Americans) have
diabetes and an estimated of 79 million adults are pre diabetes. Approximately $200 billion per year is
lost due to diabetes because of medical treatments and lost wages. Insulin resistance and the
dysfunction of beta cells are the two pathogenic hallmarks of the development and progression of
T2DM. Studies have shown that pancreatic beta cell functional mass is affected in T2DM (1, 2).
Secretion of insulin stimulated by glucose is lower in human islets of Langerhans isolated from
patients with T2DM than from normal individuals (1, 3). Knowledge of the molecular mechanism
underlying defects in beta cell function found in humans and animal models of T2DM is incomplete.
Without a more complete understanding of the mechanisms that regulate beta cell insulin secretion we
will be unable to develop new approaches to prevent and treat diabetes.
Physiological aspects of beta cell function Beta cells of the endocrine pancreas constantly monitor
glucose levels circulating in the blood and respond accordingly by releasing insulin. Glucose is the
primary physiological stimulus of insulin secretion. When blood glucose concentration is elevated,
glucose is transported across the beta cell plasma membrane by passive diffusion through glucose
transporters (GLUT 1

Self Assessment Scoring System
Throughout each fiscal year a majority of source is used to determine quality improvement such as
Self assessment this is a form that the manager of each Head Start has to fill out to determine if they
were able to meet all their goals for the year and how can they improve in terms of safety and
stretching their budget to include more pertinent things. First they begin by doing an overview of the

The Role Of Liberal Values At The International Level
4. By using its influence to diminish the role of liberal values at the international level
As China is becoming a global power today, China s views on liberal values are gaining a greater
share in the global marketplace of ideas negatively affects America s national interests, since its
growing power and the example of its development could have considerable ideological influence
upon other countries.
China s economic rising power has deflected international criticism of its records of democratization
and human rights. Human rights issues have indeed been given less importance during high level
official visits. Today, the U.S. president seldom directly demands the release of Chinese political and
religious dissidents. Under such circumstance, the United States and China are competing directly for
impact upon shaping the international rules and norms. China has been highly supporting recent
initiatives such as the G20, the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, the New Development Bank of
the BRICS countries, and Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, in which Western
governments play a significantly smaller role than in longer existing institutions, such as WTO,
NATO, etc.
In addition to that, as I have argued before, although China does not fight against liberal democracy
with a counter ideology, it does approach the potential norm of promoting liberal democratic values
with the norm of international diversity.
The concept of international diversity is that

The Decline And Fall Of The Romanov Dynasty
The Romanov Dynasty reigned over the nation of Russia from the year 1613 until its inevitable fall in
1917. Outlined below includes a few of the significant factors which contributed to decline and the
eventual fall of this 300 year dynasty. These momentous factors range from tsar Nicholas II, the last
tsar of Russia s autocratic rule, his refusal to meet the demands for reform, and above all his
incompetency as a leader.
On the 20th October 1894 Nicholas II ascended the throne as tsar of Russia. He idolised the concept of

Alexander III had done so. However, Nicholas lacked the qualities and characters of the autocratic

Streptococcus Pneumoniae is the cause of pneumonia and sepsis. Erythrocytes, which are found in

poorly understood. Erythrocytes, making up 40 50% of blood volume (Yamaguchi et al 2013), are a
key component for cellular respiration. Erythrocytes contain abundant nutrients like iron which is
required for life in nearly all forms. In this study, the researchers provide evidence that iron in red
blood cells partially inhibit pneumococcal growth and that S. pneumoniae has the ability to invade
human erythrocytes, supporting their hypothesis. By using a neutrophile bactericidal assay, the
researchers were also able to show that the survival rate for S. Pneumoniae in cultures with
erythrocytes increased 3x. The results also display that the pathogen s use of erythrocyte components
enables it to evades the immune system of the host.
Materials and Methods: As describes in Yamaguchi et al, the researchers purchased S. pneumoniae
strain D39 from the National Collection of Type Cultures. S. pneumoniae strain R6, which is an
unencapsulated derivative D39, was provided by Dr. Shin ichi Yokota. The primers used are given.
Primers are short sequences of DNA or RNA that is used as a starting point for transcription in DNA
synthesis. The PCR technique is used in biology labs to create a large amount of copies of a piece of
cut DNA, specifically DNA primers in this experiment(McEntee 8) S.pneumoniae and S. aureus were
grown in Tryptic Soy broth or 5% sheep blood Tryptic

The Path of Recovery Is for Everyone
Hardships are terrible but a normal part of everybody s life. No matter what the hardship was or is,
anybody can recover. In the books and movie we have viewed in class, they show issues to the
extreme. When Jeannette escapes the depths of Welch and her parents, her life was smooth sailing
afterwards. When you have a life as traumatizing as hers, It is expected for more struggles to occur
later in life. Not everybody will be as fortunate as her and trot with no regression. Lily ran away from
home with no clue where she was headed, other than a town written on a picture. Liz had drug
addicted parents and no plans on education. She reached a life altering decision and started going to
school again. This lead to her ultimate goal of going to college, and at one of the most profound ones
in the United States. If these three girls can overcome the intense situations they endured, anybody
can. Jeannette was an average girl, brought up in an environment where moving every few weeks was
acceptable. She never had any thing stable in her life, and basically had to raise herself with the help
of her brother and sister. Neither parent was loving or caring in any ways. No matter how big a
struggle, they always had to act as they were living life to the fullest. Jeannette states this by saying
We were always supposed to pretend our life was one long and incredibly fun adventure. (Walls 69.)
When you take a look at the abyss she was able to avoid, it should give you hope and motivate

The Global Eradication of Polio Essays
The Global Eradication of Polio
The possibility of the eradication of polio worldwide is an imminent and exciting prospect as the goal
year quickly approaches. In 1988, the World Health Assembly, which governs the World Health
Organization, set the goal of eliminating polio from the world by the year 2010. Many organizations
have joined the effort along with the World Health Organization: the Center for Disease Control and
Prevention, UNICEF, Rotary International, Global Health Network, the US Agency for International
Development, National Immunization Day, and the International Broadcasting Bureau. Together, these
worldwide polio partners have implemented a strategy to completely rid the world of this disease. It is
a difficult ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The poliovirus enters the body through the mouth, and multiplies in the throat and intestines. It may
remain unmanifested for anywhere from four to thirty five days. Once the virus is in the intestines it
has the potential to spread throughout the body by way of the bloodstream, and infiltrate into the
central nervous system. In the central nervous system, the virus can spread out along the nerve fibers
and begin to destroy the nerve cells, or motor neurons, resulting in limpness in the arms and legs. This
is known as acute flaccid paralysis and this symptom of polio (also a symptom of several other
diseases) is used to uncover new cases which may have been misdiagnosed or not diagnosed at all
(WHO 1999). This is a necessary procedure in that it helps to cover all the bases in the pursuit of
eradicating poliovirus from the earth.
It is important to note that paralysis does not occur in all polio cases. Acute poliomyelitis manifests
itself as a two phased disease in a small proportion of its victims. The first phase is minor, a non
specific febrile illness (Prevots 1999). All patients with polio experience this phase, and only a small
percentage develops the second phase, aseptic meningitis and/or paralytic disease (Prevots 1999). The
aseptic meningitis is inflammation, caused by the virus, of the meninges of the

Benefits Of Keeping Marine Animals In Zoos
Keeping marine mammals and fish in aquariums in zoos is stressful for the fish; marine mammals and
fish can thrive in captivity, but they can only do so under safe and secure conditions. These mammals
should be kept in marine sanctuaries. Marine sanctuaries are a portion of the ocean where the
government controls the activity and interference of humans. These sanctuaries are designed for
scientific research and recreation. Fish and marine mammals are not meant to be confined to a small
and unhappy environment, where humans enjoy staring at the fish s home. The Humane Society of the
United States explains their opinion in their article, Keeping Marine Mammals in Captivity is Cruel
Exploitation that keeping these wild mammals is wrong and only for the public s amusement. The
Alliance of Marine Mammal Parks and Aquariums believes that keeping these marine mammals in
zoos benefits the health of the fish and educates the public. The Alliance of Marine Mammal Parks
and Aquariums makes sure education is the top priority of every worker; they rescue, rehabilitate, and
release marine mammals and fish that are abandoned and helpless. Their main goal is to educate the
public about their work and to hopefully release the fish back into its home in the ocean.
Unfortunately, some of the marine mammals and fish are too frail and weak to be released back into
the ocean. If this is the case, the Alliance members will provide a safe and friendly home for the
helpless marine mammal.

The Construction Of The Patoka Reservoir
In the 1960s, for the folks in and around Ellsworth, [Indiana,] living life decades behind the time was
just the way it was. Manpower over technology. The comfort of tradition over the anxiety of change,
stated Jason Recker, a journalist for The Herald. Patoka Reservoir, an economic center for recreation
and flood control, encompasses 8,800 acres of land. Before its construction, a thriving community
inhabited the fertile terrain along the Patoka River. Towns of this former neighborhood included Elon,
Newton Stewart, and Ellsworth. (Recker 1) Families lived their everyday lives as farmers, with an
occasional visit from a local peddler. One day, though, a new kind of visit altered their peaceful ways.
A government sent official arrived ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One example, Ellsworth Road, still leads all the way up to Patoka Reservoir s edge today. (Kreitzer
66) These roads also articulated an abundance of inhabitants and their cultural mannerisms.
James Marvin Ellis, born June 30, 1842, sparked the foundation of Ellsworth. Although Ellis did not
receive a sufficient education as a child, at the age of thirty two he both cultivated one hundred sixty
acres of farmland and managed a general store. (History 759) Not only did Ellis publicly exert
himself, but his private life prospered as well. Ellis and his wife, Mary A. Beaty, brought forth seven
children to the local population: Marvin U., Hester J., Elliot E., Thomas G., Joseph A., and Lotta A.
(Ellis 1). In addition to agriculture, family, and merchandising, he also served as the town s original
postmaster (History 760). This holds importance because a post office provided a town s first official
identification (Kreitzer 65). Ellis societal involvement ventured much further than the town of
Ellsworth, though. At the age of nineteen, Ellis enlisted in the Civil War. He served in Company A ,
Forty Ninth Indiana Volunteers, beginning on September 25, 1861. For two and a half years, Ellis
fought in many battles until harshly wounded at Champion Hill in mid 1863. Although he would
suffer from these wounds for the rest of his life, Ellis readmitted himself to military service in early
1864. He fought until the conclusion of the war a year later. (History 759) As

Symposium Rhetorical Analysis
The Symposium in simple words is a drinking party consisting of dinner then discussion. For tonight s
party, they will decide the topic will be on the god of love. The whole group mainly focuses on the
love relationship between two men. Each speaking about what they think about love. Focusing more
on Pausanias speech he talks differently about his view of the lover/boyfriend relationship. To help his
argument Alcibiades in some ways prove his points. Pausanias contradicts Phaedrus s view of the
lover/boyfriend relationship by looking at the meaning of love, a connection between old and young,
and the outcome.
When Pausanias begins to describe the meaning of love he breaks into two different types of love.
Those being Aphsodite aka heavenly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But he also comments say that is supportive but make sure they never get too caught up in their lover s
charms. That being said, most of the speakers at this dinner would be looking at the bright side of the
lover, relationship, but with Pausanias, he spoke the truth of what a roller coaster ride the relationship
can truly be. To help prove his point after most of the speakers has gone, they receive a much
unexpected drunk guest. The guest was Alcibiades, who had somewhat a relationship with Socrates.
To explain it short Alcibiades came off as being a mad ex. When Alcibiades starts to speak to Socrates,
he explains that there was no peace between them. Then he continued by saying You can t imagine
what a nuisance my love for this man has become. Ever since the start of our affair. I ve never been
able to look at or talk to anyone attractive without him getting so jealous and resentful that he goes
crazy and calls me names. (Plato, p. 58) At first, this makes it sound as his the roles of the younger and
older relationship have switched. Thus making Socrates be the immature and overacting boy that is
too young for a relationship. But as Alcibiades continues to speak you see that it isn t Socrates, that is
immature but Alcibiades himself. He has a relationship with Socrates that he can t live with him or
without him.

Services like Netflix have replaced cable in many homes while Amazon now has the capability of same day shipping and even the shipping of food ingredients in some locations. We are becoming ever more reliant on the internet for our day to day lives. We expect to have the ability to do what we want on the internet. Watch whatever movie we like on Netflix, look up what your friend did on Instagram, or even find that cat video someone told you about at work. Net Neutrality is the concept that internet service providers allow you to use these services without interference. Websites, services and information cannot be blocked, slowed down or prioritized over others. Net neutrality means that all data should be treated equally (Kraemer). Net Neutrality is vital for our day to day lives and a lot more important than it may seem. In fact, without Net neutrality, the internet would change as we know it. The internet has always been an open platform for those who want their voices heard, their ideas shared, or their projects and businesses expanded. Removing it means that the internet would be a lot like paying for cable television. Internet service providers would be able prioritize websites and even block competitors or those who simply cannot afford to pay. Ancient people believed that if they were to get a tattoo of a certain animal, then they would have protection against attacks from that animal. Also, the fiercest warriors of their time would have tattoos that marked the significance of their battles. The same still holds true today, as tattoos are extremely popular among our military. For instance, during WW1 and WW2 sailors would sometimes get tattoos of propellers on their Buttocks. This was because they believed it would bring them luck if their ship was ever sank, and that they would hopefully not drown. Modern tattoos are applied using a handheld device that simulates the movements of a sewing machine, most commonly referred to as a tattoo gun. A needle, or needles is inserted into the tattoo gun, dipped in ink, and moved across the skin. The needles rapidly move up and down, puncturing the skin and injecting colored ink. So why are tattoos permanent? Because the ink goes so deep into the skin that it cannot be washed off? The answer may supervise you. Tattoos are actually, similar to an infection. Every time the needle penetrates, it causes a wound that alerts the body to begin the inflammatory process, which signal sends immune system cells racing to the site of the wound (or multiple wounds, in the case of the five inch dragon breathing fire across your chest). One can easily achieve the security services like confidentiality or data integrity. Methods for key establishment can be classified into two types namely, key transport protocols and key agreement protocols. A key protocol is a technique in which only one party creates or obtains secret value, and securely transfers it to others. In key agreement protocol two or more parties derive the shared secret where all parties contribute to the secret. Ideally, no single party can control what the final joint value will be. MANETs are a kind of wireless ad hoc network (WANET) that usually has a routable networking environment on top of a Link Layer ad hoc network. Advantage in MANETs is consisting of a peer to peer, self forming, self healing network. Key agreement protocols are one of the fundamental primitives of cryptography, and allow users to establish session keys securely in the presence of an active adversary. For this we use verifiable secret sharing (VSS) and bilinear concepts in our project. In cryptography, a secret sharing scheme is verifiable when the nodes are allowed to verify their shares as consistent. A VSS has three phases: a Distribution phase, Verification phase and Reconstruction phase. We implement the verification property of VSS in verifying shares. This property is additionally ensured with the help of commitments in secret sharing schemes like Shamir s secret sharing. We proceed by having knowledge on adhoc on demand routing protocol (AODV), Destination Sequence distance vector (DSDV) protocols and using them in ns 2. In this project nodes verify shares through commitments when the source sends shares of secret key to destination on multiple ways and the destination reconstructs it by collecting all individual shares. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Host factors, the virulence of bacteria, and most importantly the presence of an endotracheal tube determine the development of VAP. The tube is detrimental not only because it provides the conduit for bacteria, but also because it abolishes the cough reflex. Bacteria get access to the lungs via microaspiration and through the biofilm that is formed in the inner surface of the endotracheal tube or leakage of secretions around the cuff. Spread from an adjacent site of infection or via the blood represent rare causes of VAP. Pathogenic bacteria usually replace endogenous flora and colonize the nasopharynx, the oropharynx, the sinuses and the stomach subsequently collecting inside and around the endotracheal tube. Positive pressure ventilation also contributes to VAP development by thrusting bacteria into the airways. Antibiotic exposure, severity of underlying disease and previous surgery have been implicated as host factors [5,8]. Various strategies have been applied for the prevention of VAP, each with different levels of evidence. Preventive measures against VAP development can be divided into five distinct groups: ... The starting point of the Space Race was the launch of Sputnik 1 by the Soviet Union. The Space Race has impacted society greatly politcally, socially, and economically. The Space Race was a very tense period of time in history because both the United States and Soviet Union improved their technology to such a degree that the two countries have both made it to space multiple times. A way that the lead of the Soviet Union in the Space Race affected the US Society is the Vanguard rocket was prepared for launch at Cape Canaveral. On December 6/1957, the slender, delicate instrument was fired, began to rise, and then sank back down on itself, crushing its engines and erupting into a huge fireball. The pathetic collapse was carried live on television, right in front of the world. This was what we were capable of, while the Russians rode the heavens (from Document F). • 21. Gullah Or Sea Island Creole English Background information about the African languages that contributed to Gullah. Gullah (or Geechee or Sea Island Creole English) formed separately on the Sea Islands off the coast of the Carolinas, Georgia, and Florida throughout the 18th and 19th centuries among enslaved Western Africans. They developed a language that combined grammatical, phonological, and lexical features of the non standard English varieties spoken by white slaveholders and farmers in that region of the United States along with those from numerous Western and Central African languages. According to this view, Gullah developed separately, or distinctly, from African American English and varieties of English spoken in the South. Why was English first introduced? English was first introduced in these sea islands and surrounding areas due to the large amount of West African slaves that were taken from their home country that had many different dialects (Wolof, Malinke, Mandinka, Bambara to name a few). Due to the difference in dialects a similar language was needed for them communicate so English was used as it was a prevalent and accessible language commonly spoken by slaveholders. The Southern American English Variety. Gullah developed from Southern American English. Which originated from a combination of immigrants from the British Isles, who moved to the American South in the 17th and 18th centuries, and from prior creole or post creole speech of African slaves. • 27. Gender Is A Social Aspect Essay Gender has always been around, but it has caused confusion for some about the true meaning, through this, two perspectives have come to light. Those who believe that gender is something that you are born with, your biological self that differentiates you from your opposite (male/female). Then there are those who believe that gender is a social constructed aspect of ones life. What your parents and society label you the minute you are born. Examples being a girl wears pink, a boy wears blue. These colours are a significant symbol of assigning one a gender, for if they do not wear those colours (in some instances) then people will not be able to distinguish them this generally shown in a newborn babies case. Through a socially constructed perspective, certain ways of living are formed for each persons gender, in olden day New Zealand, women, at a certain point in time were assumed to stay at home, with the children and be good wives. Whereas men were to be in the labour force, whether it be working class, or in the higher areas of parliament. This was all up until the mid 1800s were the first wave feminism came into act. There are many aspects within a persons educational life, that can affect them greatly, gender being one of them. Alfred Adler had a more of a holistic approach type theory of psychotherapy, a different worldview, which reflected a more philosophical way of living. Despite theoretical differences with Freud, Adler went on to establish a School of Individual Psychology. The reason that I chose this theory is his approach to a holistic theory approach, as well as his approach to psychotherapy and psychopathology. From a scientific perspective Adler s main core of personality has to do with striving for superiority, this idea was to help those who have a sense of helplessness or the means of not having the ability to overcome any situation (inferiority complex). According to the Center of Disease Control and Prevention nearly 26 million Americans (approximately 8% of all Americans) have diabetes and an estimated of 79 million adults are pre diabetes. Approximately $200 billion per year is lost due to diabetes because of medical treatments and lost wages. Insulin resistance and the dysfunction of beta cells are the two pathogenic hallmarks of the development and progression of T2DM. Studies have shown that pancreatic beta cell functional mass is affected in T2DM (1, 2). Secretion of insulin stimulated by glucose is lower in human islets of Langerhans isolated from patients with T2DM than from normal individuals (1, 3). Knowledge of the molecular mechanism underlying defects in beta cell function found in humans and animal models of T2DM is incomplete. Without a more complete understanding of the mechanisms that regulate beta cell insulin secretion we will be unable to develop new approaches to prevent and treat diabetes. Physiological aspects of beta cell function Beta cells of the endocrine pancreas constantly monitor glucose levels circulating in the blood and respond accordingly by releasing insulin. D s should be allowed is because of the healing factor they can provide to the players. When a player is injured it not only hurts the injured person, but also the organization. With steroids, it can increase the rate of recovery to the injured person. As stated by Richard Salcido, MD, Professor and Chairman of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania Health System said ...steroid use may aid in the healing of experimentally derived muscle contusion and injury... (Salcido, Anabolic Steroids and Wound Healing ). If this does in fact increase the healing of injured athletes, then it allows for them to be out for a shorter amount of time, which again ties into more revenue coming into these organizations because the best of the best athletes is not staying injured for very long. Using these drugs even has the chance to prevent injuries. As stated in Steroids by David J. Segarnick. PhD, The most widely exploited property of corticosteroids is their ability to reduce localized swelling, redness and tenderness aspects of inflammation. With its ability to do these things injuries could be prevented which helps the athletes to continue ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. The Decline And Fall Of The Romanov Dynasty The Romanov Dynasty reigned over the nation of Russia from the year 1613 until its inevitable fall in 1917. Outlined below includes a few of the significant factors which contributed to decline and the eventual fall of this 300 year dynasty. These momentous factors range from tsar Nicholas II, the last tsar of Russia s autocratic rule, his refusal to meet the demands for reform, and above all his incompetency as a leader. On the 20th October 1894 Nicholas II ascended the throne as tsar of Russia. He idolised the concept of continuing to rule Russia under the autocratic system, in the same way his father and predecessor Alexander III had done so. However, Nicholas lacked the qualities and characters of the autocratic style of leadership. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Review of Streptococcus Pneumoniae Invades Erythrocytes and Utilizes them to Evade Human Innate Immunity Megan Jean Louis1, Dasha Ryndych1, Safaa Slimani1, Sarah Ustoyev1 1Macaulay Honors College at Brooklyn College Abstract: I have selected the following paper, Streptococcus Pneumoniae Invades Erythrocytes and Utilizes them to Evade Human Innate Immunity, to present and review for an assignment. Streptococcus Pneumoniae is the cause of pneumonia and sepsis. Erythrocytes, which are found in blood, contain nutrients that factor into bacterial growth. Yamaguchi et al studied the interactions between S. pneumoniae and erythrocytes. The researchers found that the Iron ion present in human erythrocytes helped the growth of a sepsis pathogen, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While all of this information has been gathered, the behavior of S. pneumoniae in blood remains poorly understood. Erythrocytes, making up 40 50% of blood volume (Yamaguchi et al 2013), are a key component for cellular respiration. Erythrocytes contain abundant nutrients like iron which is required for life in nearly all forms. In this study, the researchers provide evidence that iron in red blood cells partially inhibit pneumococcal growth and that S. pneumoniae has the ability to invade human erythrocytes, supporting their hypothesis. By using a neutrophile bactericidal assay, the researchers were also able to show that the survival rate for S. Pneumoniae in cultures with erythrocytes increased 3x. The results also display that the pathogen s use of erythrocyte components enables it to evades the immune system of the host. Materials and Methods: As describes in Yamaguchi et al, the researchers purchased S. pneumoniae strain D39 from the National Collection of Type Cultures. S. pneumoniae strain R6, which is an unencapsulated derivative D39, was provided by Dr. Shin ichi Yokota. The primers used are given. Primers are short sequences of DNA or RNA that is used as a starting point for transcription in DNA synthesis. The PCR technique is used in biology labs to create a large amount of copies of a piece of cut DNA, specifically DNA primers in this experiment(McEntee 8) S.pneumoniae and S. aureus were grown in Tryptic Soy broth or 5% sheep blood Tryptic ... • 42. The Path of Recovery Is for Everyone Hardships are terrible but a normal part of everybody s life. No matter what the hardship was or is, anybody can recover. In the books and movie we have viewed in class, they show issues to the extreme. When Jeannette escapes the depths of Welch and her parents, her life was smooth sailing afterwards. When you have a life as traumatizing as hers, It is expected for more struggles to occur later in life. Not everybody will be as fortunate as her and trot with no regression. Lily ran away from home with no clue where she was headed, other than a town written on a picture. Liz had drug addicted parents and no plans on education. She reached a life altering decision and started going to school again. This lead to her ultimate goal of going to college, and at one of the most profound ones in the United States. If these three girls can overcome the intense situations they endured, anybody can. Jeannette was an average girl, brought up in an environment where moving every few weeks was acceptable. She never had any thing stable in her life, and basically had to raise herself with the help of her brother and sister. Neither parent was loving or caring in any ways. No matter how big a struggle, they always had to act as they were living life to the fullest. Jeannette states this by saying We were always supposed to pretend our life was one long and incredibly fun adventure. (Walls 69.) When you take a look at the abyss she was able to avoid, it should give you hope and motivate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. The Global Eradication of Polio Essays The Global Eradication of Polio The possibility of the eradication of polio worldwide is an imminent and exciting prospect as the goal year quickly approaches. In 1988, the World Health Assembly, which governs the World Health Organization, set the goal of eliminating polio from the world by the year 2010. Many organizations have joined the effort along with the World Health Organization: the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, UNICEF, Rotary International, Global Health Network, the US Agency for International Development, National Immunization Day, and the International Broadcasting Bureau. Together, these worldwide polio partners have implemented a strategy to completely rid the world of this disease. It is a difficult ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The poliovirus enters the body through the mouth, and multiplies in the throat and intestines. It may remain unmanifested for anywhere from four to thirty five days. Once the virus is in the intestines it has the potential to spread throughout the body by way of the bloodstream, and infiltrate into the central nervous system. In the central nervous system, the virus can spread out along the nerve fibers and begin to destroy the nerve cells, or motor neurons, resulting in limpness in the arms and legs. This is known as acute flaccid paralysis and this symptom of polio (also a symptom of several other diseases) is used to uncover new cases which may have been misdiagnosed or not diagnosed at all (WHO 1999). This is a necessary procedure in that it helps to cover all the bases in the pursuit of eradicating poliovirus from the earth. It is important to note that paralysis does not occur in all polio cases. Acute poliomyelitis manifests itself as a two phased disease in a small proportion of its victims. The first phase is minor, a non specific febrile illness (Prevots 1999). All patients with polio experience this phase, and only a small percentage develops the second phase, aseptic meningitis and/or paralytic disease (Prevots 1999). The aseptic meningitis is inflammation, caused by the virus, of the meninges of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Benefits Of Keeping Marine Animals In Zoos Keeping marine mammals and fish in aquariums in zoos is stressful for the fish; marine mammals and fish can thrive in captivity, but they can only do so under safe and secure conditions. These mammals should be kept in marine sanctuaries. Marine sanctuaries are a portion of the ocean where the government controls the activity and interference of humans. These sanctuaries are designed for scientific research and recreation. Fish and marine mammals are not meant to be confined to a small and unhappy environment, where humans enjoy staring at the fish s home. The Humane Society of the United States explains their opinion in their article, Keeping Marine Mammals in Captivity is Cruel Exploitation that keeping these wild mammals is wrong and only for the public s amusement. The Alliance of Marine Mammal Parks and Aquariums believes that keeping these marine mammals in zoos benefits the health of the fish and educates the public. The Alliance of Marine Mammal Parks and Aquariums makes sure education is the top priority of every worker; they rescue, rehabilitate, and release marine mammals and fish that are abandoned and helpless. Their main goal is to educate the public about their work and to hopefully release the fish back into its home in the ocean. Unfortunately, some of the marine mammals and fish are too frail and weak to be released back into the ocean. If this is the case, the Alliance members will provide a safe and friendly home for the helpless marine mammal. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. The Construction Of The Patoka Reservoir In the 1960s, for the folks in and around Ellsworth, [Indiana,] living life decades behind the time was just the way it was. Manpower over technology. The comfort of tradition over the anxiety of change, stated Jason Recker, a journalist for The Herald. Patoka Reservoir, an economic center for recreation and flood control, encompasses 8,800 acres of land. Before its construction, a thriving community inhabited the fertile terrain along the Patoka River. Towns of this former neighborhood included Elon, Newton Stewart, and Ellsworth. (Recker 1) Families lived their everyday lives as farmers, with an occasional visit from a local peddler. One day, though, a new kind of visit altered their peaceful ways. (Kreitzer 66) These roads also articulated an abundance of inhabitants and their cultural mannerisms. James Marvin Ellis, born June 30, 1842, sparked the foundation of Ellsworth. Although Ellis did not receive a sufficient education as a child, at the age of thirty two he both cultivated one hundred sixty acres of farmland and managed a general store. (History 759) Not only did Ellis publicly exert himself, but his private life prospered as well. Ellis and his wife, Mary A. Beaty, brought forth seven children to the local population: Marvin U., Hester J., Elliot E., Thomas G., Joseph A., and Lotta A. (Ellis 1). In addition to agriculture, family, and merchandising, he also served as the town s original postmaster (History 760). This holds importance because a post office provided a town s first official identification (Kreitzer 65). Ellis societal involvement ventured much further than the town of Ellsworth, though. At the age of nineteen, Ellis enlisted in the Civil War. He served in Company A , Forty Ninth Indiana Volunteers, beginning on September 25, 1861. For two and a half years, Ellis fought in many battles until harshly wounded at Champion Hill in mid 1863. Although he would suffer from these wounds for the rest of his life, Ellis readmitted himself to military service in early 1864. He fought until the conclusion of the war a year later. • 46. Symposium Rhetorical Analysis The Symposium in simple words is a drinking party consisting of dinner then discussion. For tonight s party, they will decide the topic will be on the god of love. The whole group mainly focuses on the love relationship between two men. Each speaking about what they think about love. Focusing more on Pausanias speech he talks differently about his view of the lover/boyfriend relationship. To help his argument Alcibiades in some ways prove his points. Pausanias contradicts Phaedrus s view of the lover/boyfriend relationship by looking at the meaning of love, a connection between old and young, and the outcome. That being said, most of the speakers at this dinner would be looking at the bright side of the lover, relationship, but with Pausanias, he spoke the truth of what a roller coaster ride the relationship can truly be. To help prove his point after most of the speakers has gone, they receive a much unexpected drunk guest. The guest was Alcibiades, who had somewhat a relationship with Socrates. To explain it short Alcibiades came off as being a mad ex. When Alcibiades starts to speak to Socrates, he explains that there was no peace between them. Then he continued by saying You can t imagine what a nuisance my love for this man has become. Ever since the start of our affair. I ve never been able to look at or talk to anyone attractive without him getting so jealous and resentful that he goes crazy and calls me names. (Plato, p. 58) At first, this makes it sound as his the roles of the younger and older relationship have switched. Thus making Socrates be the immature and overacting boy that is too young for a relationship. But as Alcibiades continues to speak you see that it isn t Socrates, that is immature but Alcibiades himself. He has a relationship with Socrates that he can t live with him or without him. ...
