Hrothgar And Beowulf Comparison Essay
An old English poem Beowulf written by Anonymous, told by the Anglo saxons for centuries. Has
been transformed into a movie ,there are many versions and all are different in their own ways.
(Gunnarsson Beowulf Grendel ) King Hrothgar is distinguishably characterized with scarce
resemblance to (Zemeckis Beowulf ) Hrothgar portrays human emotions in the first film Beowulf
2005 , he shows sorrow for his soldiers or men that are being killed by Grendel, he also chose not to
kill Grendel when he was a child. In the second film the animated one Beowulf 2008 The King has a
stoic type of personality , he puts his soldiers and danes in harmful situations, and when they get killed
he doesn t bother or show any concern. Hrothgar in the second animated film Beowulf 2008 is shown
as self centered and weak, he commits suicide for no explanation and leaves the kingdom with
Beowulf. In both films the King appears to be a coward, and has other people such as Beowulf attempt
to kill Grendel. Therefore there are clearly differences in the personalities of each actor /character in
each film known as Hrothgar. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Other Wes Moore One Name Two Fates Essay
The book The Other Wes Moore One Name, Two Fates was written by Wes Moore. The novel consists
of two boys who had an identical name: Wes Moore. One gets to experience things he never thought
of and the other we will be behind bars until death for a robbery. In this novel, it really shows the
difference between the two and how they grew up. They grew up at the same time, on the same streets,
and with the same name. Their stories came together and one helped the other. It was a large story that
consists of young boys in a chaotic part of history and violent time and apparent to succeed and fail in

our judgement is the way people think of others. Today in this world, people are close minded and not

nowhere in life. We judge people for the way they look, what they wear, where they re from, where
they live, etc. We judge out of our own fears and insecurities. We must treat people the way the want
to be treated, not by how you think they should be treated. When we judge someone, do we really

people based on their race. We have to treat people with equal rights no matter what race or ethnicity

The Mood For Love, Urban Space, And Post Modernity
In The Mood For Love, Urban Space, and Post Modernity Wong Kar Wai s Fa Yeung Nin Wa (2000),
translated to In The Mood For Love, is an opening to the new millennium and homage to past genres
of filmmaking. Deeply rooted in emotion and nostalgia, In The Mood For Love reads as a waltz
throughout the entirety of the film. Set in 1962 Hong Kong, journalist Chow Mo wan moves to the
city with his wife, who is often away on business. He befriends a woman who lives in his apartment
complex, Su Li Zhen (referred to Ms. Chan in the film) who mirrors his loneliness and marital strife.
Ironically, Ms. Chan s husband is also often away from business, and both realize their partners are
having an affair with their respective spouses.
Su and Chow begin a fantasy relationship with one another, pretending to be each other s spouse
reenacting how their partners could have gotten together. The protagonists constantly push each other
s boundaries of propriety; their combined desire for affection is an extension of the abandonment they
feel from their spouses. Simultaneously a simulacrum of love and a reflection of genuine yearning,
they imitate a relationship and inevitably fall for one another, but fear that they ll stoop to the
infidelity of their partners. Wong Kar Wai s film is a statement about individual realities and how
people reflect on an unattainable past, as well as an exploration of physical and emotional
confinement that accompany abandonment. In The Mood For Love is a

Survival In Auschwitz Summary
The Holocaust was a genocide that occurred under Adolf Hitler s rule in Germany where almost six
million Jews were killed in camps and others were worked to death which aimed to fulfill Hitler s idea
of the purification of race. Primo Levi, a survivor of the Holocaust wrote the book Survival in
Auschwitz (to illustrate) the system inside the camp and his experience as a prisoner. Capitalist
modernity is the combination of capitalism and the ideas of modernity. In a capitalistic modernized
society, people are exposed to the ideas of enlightenment, temporality, panopticon and capitalism. The
uniqueness and normality of the camp reflects the ideas of capitalist modernity as it is in the society

In 1787, an English philosopher in the name of Jeremy Bentham came up with the idea of panopticon.
Panopticon is a set of societal practices that made people submissive in a society. Panopticon is
present in the concentration camps because the prisoners did not try to escape or struggle against the
SS. Levi states that this unjust law is openly in forces [and] is recognized by all (88). There is a
relationship between panopticon and the normality of the camp which is unsaid but the prisoners are
always aware of that mysterious faculty (63). Being inside the camp is somewhat the same as being
part of a capitalistic modernized society in a way that there are set laws that the government expects
people to follow. People are docile because they are aware that if they are caught doing an act that
goes against the law, they would have to deal with the state apparatus. Similarly, the prisoners are
aware that almost every move they make is monitored by an SS or is bound to be noticed. Panopticon
is another reason why there is normality in the

Why Is Hmong Culture Important
Many cultures have certain traditions that are very important to them. For example, the Hmong culture
has a tradition about marriage. When a Hmong man wants to get married and start a family, he has to
ask two specific men called Mekoob , to go with him to his women s house and formally ask the
parents for their daughter s hand in marriage. They later talk about the wedding plan and the price for
everything. The husband and his family have to pay for all the expenses. There is also a tradition
called Noj Pebcaug . This is where the Hmong celebrate the New Year and ask our fore fathers for
good luck in the upcoming New Year. The Hmong are not the only ones that have certain traditions

and a girl are old enough to be called a woman or a man. Also, this will give responsibility to the soon

their own actions. To take responsibility in what they do wrong and what they do right. This ceremony
usually start at the age of 13 for boys and the age of 12 for girls. Though, Bar and Bat mitzvahs are

ceremony, the groom agrees to be bound by the terms of the ketubah, or marriage contract. The
ketubah details the obligations of the groom to the bride, which are food, clothing and marital
relations. A traditional Jewish wedding ceremony takes place under wedding canopy, symbolizing the
new home being built by the couple when they become husband and wife. Some Jewish culture has a
custom to cover the face of the bride, followed by a prayer. The husband is then led under the wedding

Summary Of Malice In The Teaching Of Amenemapt The Son Of...
The most egregious infraction in The Teaching of Amenemapt, The Son of Kanekht is malice because
it is the most abominable. Malice is personified throughout the text as a hot headed man and is
described as someone or something that should be avoided at all times. Additionally, at several
sections in the text, the author notes how even the gods and other natural forces hold maliciousness or
the hot headed man in contempt. Notably, other transgressions in the text are referred to as abominable
deeds; however, malice is the only one described as the greatest abomination, making it more
egregious than the others. The hot headed man is referenced several times throughout the text as a
person of great rage and anger, and so he can be interpreted as some form of personification of malice.
In fact, several teachings are entirely devoted to the analysis of the hot headed man, signifying his
importance and notability as a figure in the text. For example, teaching number ten in the fourth
chapter compares the character to a large, leafy tree planted in the courtyard [of the temple], one
whose unripe fruit drops off and when its time comes to an end it is [cast] into the water, and carried
away far from its place (148). In stating this, the author is affirming the belief that being angry and
bitter is an unfruitful means of performing tasks and yields an unsatisfactory end. Moreover, because
the entire purpose of The Teaching of Amenemapt is to demonstrate to others how to

Most people who talk about healthcare, really do not know what health care is to its full extent. Let
alone understand how a nation health care system operates or how each political party wants the
nation healthcare to be ran. Healthcare is the maintenance and improvement of the of a individual
through medical provisions. But defining a operations of a healthcare within a nation can differ.
Ideally the operations involve citizens paying taxes for government health care with the alternative of
paying for private health care services, such as the individual employer. With regards to the past the

The lead provider of healthcare in the USA, is private ownership. Which can lead to mistreatment and
corruption. Roughly 61% of health insurance coverage is related to the employment of that individual
that is employed. When the unemployment rate was near a all time high not too long ago. There was
more than enough citizens not receiving healthcare. The access to health care for citizens in the USA
is very out of sync. The USA have by far the most expensive health care in the world. One of the
reasons for this is the majority of health care is provided by private owners, which are for profit and
are able to raise the price of treatment. Due to the rising cost of medical insurance providers, business
are often forced to drop their benefits for employers. Which are increasing the problem of health
insurance. To describe a system of health in the USA as of today with Obamacare passed. Customers
who are without insurance search for insurance on the marketplace, and choose the plan they wants
with a private sector or if qualified with basic coverage with government supplemental plans for the
struggling income household. The ones who benefit the most of this system are stock holders and
health providers, with the ability to control the price of medical treatment and care. The losers in the
America regarding health care are the low income household and the unemployed who are unable to
afford healthcare. It will be fair to say the USA, health system is Capitalistic based.

The Discussion of The Making and Unmaking of a Child Soldier by Ishmael Beah
The story The Making and Unmaking of a Child Solider is an insightful look into the life of a child
drawn into the horror of war, yet still managing to survive. Throughout the story you see several
examples of how a child evolves in spite of adversity and violence. At 12 years old children should be
playing sports and living fun, healthy lives. This is opposite of Beah s childhood experience. It is
difficult for one to imagine the fear that would cripple a child when war is brought to their front door.
Beah was just a child when he had to experience the devastation of losing his family. How could a 12
year old properly grieve ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Almost as if he didn t want to be saved from his life. Could he possibly not know a better life existed?
Even when he was not on the battlefield, the hatred and anger overtook him. One quote is particularly
chilling we needed the violence to cheer us (Beah 274). It is heartbreaking that a child could be so
damaged. When going through withdrawals, Beah was defiant and rebellious. That is typical behavior
of any child. It appears that even though Beah was taught to be a violent killer, he was still just a boy.
It is intriguing that he experienced very little fear or any other emotion when killing; however, he was
terrified in his dreams. Maybe, this is to detach himself from his unwanted reality? A child s
subconscious is a powerful thing. Beah s interaction with Ester is his first attempt at trust since the
death of his family. It is possible that the bond between the two formed due to Ester actually treating
him like a child, not an adult. She became his temporary sister. Ester offering Beah a walkman was a
way to reveal the boy in him. She also offered popular rap music that boys his age would enjoy. Ester
was the first person since he left home to show him empathy. She spent time with him and allowed
him to release Axson 3 some of the hatred he had been holding onto. While it was wonderful for Beah
to find such a connection, one has to wonder what Ester s motivation was. Beah clearly needed
someone to help with the loneliness

Short Story The Sniper
In reality, one will never know who the true enemy is until one kills. In the plot twisting short story
The Sniper, by Liam O Flaherty, a republican sniper faces an enemy which later discovers it is his own
brother. The republican sniper soon finds the truth of how the enemy was such a good shot. The theme
of this story is one can never be sure of the enemy. The sniper s curiosity leads to realizing who
caused the death of his brother. The enemy shoots at the republican sniper and it hits his forearm,
therefore his arm is not capable of doing was has to be done. The sniper kills the enemy, not realizing
it until curiosity leads to the truth, that it was his brother who he murdered. Don t ever assume the
person firing towards oneself is the enemy because it could lead to disaster. The republican sniper is
concentrating on the enemy. The enemy is focusing on the republican. The only objective is to kill.
Both want to survive this war. This civil war is between republicans and free staters. Suddenly, there
was a flash and a bullet whizzed over his head. He dropped immediately. He had seen the flash. It
came from the opposite side of the street (O Flaherty 1). The enemy missed. The republican was
terrified, there was nothing to be seen just the dim outline of the opposite housetop against the blue
sky. His enemy was under cover (O Flaherty 1). Suddenly, another shot was fired. It penetrated the
republican, it hits his forearm.

My Critique Of A Concert Experience
As you have most likely already read on my data sheet, I listened to Dr. Joe and Friend play at Ayuthai
Restaurant on November 12th. The venue features jazz ensembles pretty often, although I am not sure
why... Are the Thais even bigger fans of jazz than the French, or is it a personal preference of the
venue owner? My first concert experience was overall pretty good. I had a difficult time recognizing
selections so I had to stay for the full two hours. I ate a lot of Thai food. Appetizer, entree, and
dessert... I would have felt like a pig if the couple seated next to be hadn t order over double the
amount of food I did. Point being, I highly recommend Ayuthai Restaurant, and now onto my critique.
The vocalist was no Billy Holiday or Ella Fitzgerald, but she was not half bad either! I was overjoyed
whenever she joined the group. She sang two songs at the end of the first hour and then another two at
the end of the second. I was finally able to recognize and write down some selections! I had not been
able to recognize a simple musical piece played without her accompaniment. They were not playing
any of the jazz standards that I knew. No Ain t Misbehavin , My Favorite Things, or Body and Soul...
The first song she sang was one whose instrumentation I would have recognized, though. Orange
Colored Skies is one of my favorites. I know the words by heart, so I immediately noticed something
different.
The lyrics had been trimmed a great deal, with more favor being shown to the choruses

Sociological Aspects Of Consumerism
ONE
My purpose for this is not to give solutions to fix this problem, but rather to shed light on it because i
do believe this is a problem that we are not aware of, as a culture. In today s world I believe we no
longer value conversations or acts of kindness or human interaction in general. its all about things. We
have become mindless consumers and are so obsessed with things, stuff, junk, call it what you want,
its controlling our lives.
TWO
There are a few ways in which one could interpret the word consumerism and its effects, economic,
environmental etc. but I am going focus on the psychological and sociological aspects of it, So what is
consumerism, how does it affect you? And why should you care? The sociology definition of
consumerism is the belief that personal well being and happiness depend on the level of personal
consumption. Essentially, the problem isn t consumption, it s consumerism, there is a very important
difference. If consumption is the act, consumerism is the social system which exists when that act
becomes defining of a society. And it s consumerism that causes the problems. Consumerism takes the
act of consumption and turns it into the defining act of our role as social beings.
THREE
People tend to measure their quality of life based on the amount of things they have. In extreme cases,
people can develop serious mental issues due to this, such as Oniomania which is an obsessive or

Rice Riot Essay
Rice riots
Rice riots happened in 1918 when Japanese government was involved in the Siberia intervention and
the economy of Japan was in war prosperity that the export and industrial development was growing
rapidly. To maintain the competiveness of the Japanese exports and industrial product, the government
set the purchasing price of the rice merchant from the peasants, which was much lower than the
market rice to lower the industrial production cost from the raw materials. As a result, the living
standard of the general peasants and workers in the city had even worsen under the prosperity despite
the huge growth in industry and economy. In May 1917, the rice market price starts to rise rapidly by

The rice riot indicated the social structure at that time that the peasants and low level workers were
highly exploited and could not even benefit from the development of the economy. This riot meant the
strong dissent to the oppression from the government and the industrial Zaibatsu from the peasants to
normal Japanese people. To the government, this riot indicated that this economic development style
could not be sustainable, thus entered a more democratic period 1920s. The riot had led to three major
changes to the society. Firstly, the salary of the citizens and the purchasing price of the peasants were
raised a little while the government tried to lower the market rice by increasing import from its colony
Korea and Taiwan as well as other rice producing countries (Morgan 2011, 121 122), which slightly
improved the living standard of the poor. The more important impact is in the government that Hara
Takashi, who was the first untitled premier. This indicated the end of the Kazoku control of the
government and the raise of the party politics. Since the cabinet of Hara, the premier and cabinet
members could be untitled, which indicated a great progress to the Japanese democracy development.
The rice riot also caused the strong opposition to the left wing ideology in Japanese government. After
the riot, most of the leaders in the movement were arrested and put to the death sentence. To avoid
such a riot happening again, the government had a stronger opposition to the left wing movement and
strikes (Morgan 2011, 125 134). For instance, even in 1925, a more democratic period, to avoid the
spread the communism in Japan and other left wing ideology, the diet had passed Public Security
Preservation Laws to delegalize the left wing parties. The strong attitude against the left wing
ideology were because of the serious rice

beginning of the novel Tess of the d Urbervilles by Thomas Hardy, it is clear that the main character,
Tess, is not going to have an easy life. She is deliberately targeted by cruel Immortals as their sadistic
plaything. This is symbolized during the club dance, where Tess is one of the white company but is the
only one to have a bright red ribbon in her hair. The mark of blood is on her from the start. Whilst Tess
is going to market she accidentally kills the family s horse. Her own guilt for this accidental death is
the first stage in a long series of incidents leading to Tess s tragic death at the end of the novel. ...

Tess at this stage was a mere of vessel of emotion untinctured by experience and she did not know
how evil men could sometimes be. She was almost like an attractive piece of bait, used to lure a
wealthy young to marry into the Durbeyfield Family and restore them to their previous aristocratic
status. Joan Durbeyfield did not care about her daughter s morals she felt that if d Urberville didn t
marry her afore, he would after . Tess is seduced by Alec and taken advantage of, and as a result she is
seen as a social outcast. At the time of her seduction or rape, Tess had been rescued from the
aggressive Car D arch and was emotionally and physically tired after the persistent chase by Alec. The
sad result that she became pregnant as a consequence of this sexual liaison with d Urberville is a
further suggestion that her cruel fate is all planned in advance by merciless gods. The institutionalised
Christianity during the reign of Queen Victoria, meant that Tess was seen as an outcast. She had given
birth to a bastard child an the rigid social attitudes of Victorian society meant she was frowned upon
even though she took good care of the child and clearly loved it intensely. Tess then commits a
blasphemous act when she baptises the infant and names it sorrow. It seems that the cruel and
inflexible religious laws of the time would not

Cardiac Arrest And The Effects Of Epinephrine Essay
Cardiac Arrest and The Effects of Epinephrine in Pre hospital Setting
Sudden cardiac arrest is a condition in which the heart suddenly and unexpectedly stops beating.
When this occurs the blood flow stops to the brain and vital organs. Sudden cardiac arrest is not the
same as a heart attack or myocardial infarction. A heart attack is when the blood flow to part of the
heart is blocked.
Without early intervention on average 360,000 people out of the hospital succumb to cardiac arrest.
Cardiac arrest and sudden death account for 60 percent of all deaths from coronary artery disease ,
(Bledsoe, Porter, Cherry, 2011,2007,2004, p. 1229)There are several causes of sudden cardiac arrest.
Most are caused by ventricular fibrillation. During ventricular fibrillation, the ventricles do not beat
normally. Instead they quiver rapidly and irregularly. When this occurs, the heart pumps very little and
blood does not get circulated throughout the body. Most of the cases found with sudden cardiac death
are related to undetected cardiovascular disease.( Sudden Cardiac Death, 2015, para. 2)Sudden cardiac
arrest are immediate and drastic that includes sudden collapse, no pulse, not breathing, and loss of
consciousness. Four rhythms produce pulseless cardiac arrest: ventricular fibrillation, rapid ventricular
tachycardia, pulseless electrical activity and asystole. ( Circulation , 2005, p. IV 58)Other signs and
symptoms that could occur prior to sudden cardiac arrest, include fatigue,

Aquaculture Is The Cultivation Of Sea Creatures ( Finfish...
Background What is Aquaculture? Aquaculture is the wide term used to describe the cultivation of sea
creatures. An example of aquaculture is fish farming. In Canada, the activities of aquaculture are
practised in all provinces. However, if we look at the species each province produces (Figure 1 1),
operations of coastal provinces have more variety on what they produce. It is easy to see why
operations are more focused on the top producers in Canada: British Columbia, New Brunswick, and
Newfoundland and Labrador (Figure 1 2). What type of economic activity does aquaculture provide?
Essentially, aquaculture is considered as a primary industry in the economic sector. This means that
aquaculture s main service is the production of goods, in this case, aquatic life. Aquaculture is unique
as it does not harvest wild marine animals, compared to commercialized fishing. Instead, aquaculture
focuses on farming the species of aquatic creatures (Finfish and shellfish). This economic activity
provides a product of resource that is cultivated without damaging the population of aquatic life found
naturally in the wild and provides a different alternative when it comes to the production of the
renewable resources of fish in Canada. In Canadian aquaculture, there are a variety of methods
involving the farming of aquatic life because of location. The oldest method is with the net pen system
(Figure 1 3). This type of aquaculture involves containing fish in a net that suspends around

Sttoicism In Socrates
Socrates lived his life instructing others on how best to live virtuously. In order to do this, he exhibited
several unwaverable beliefs and actions that defined his life as a philosopher. Epictetus s text The
Enchiridion also attempts to instruct readers on how live a life of virtue. This branch of philosophy is
labelled stoicism. Due to how well the actions expressed by Socrates and suggested by Epictetus seem
to align, a modern day examination of both The Enchiridion and several of Plato s texts written about
Socrates could conclude that Socrates himself may be considered a stoic. In his text The Enchirdion,
Epictetus defines stoicism in a multitude of ways. According to this piece of writing, the main goal of
stoicism is to adjust one s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In line 47e of Crito, Socrates says to Crito that life is not worth living when the moral center of the
soul is corrupted, an aspect of humanity which is just as essential as the body. In passage 38 of
Epictetus text, he suggests that the decision making center of the mind should be protected like a shoe
protects the foot, and that this will allow for safety in future actions. Both Epictetus and Socrates
express the belief that the soul or mind is just important as the body, and ought to be protected and
focused on above all else in order to better pursue one s purpose in life. Furthermore, in line 44d,
Socrates tells Crito that the majority cannot cause great acts of good or evil, and that the greatest evil
of all is straying from a virtuous path and deliberately causing wrongdoing. In saying this Socrates is
attempting to prove to Crito that the opinions of others do not matter because they cannot truly cause
harm. Epictetus mirrors this belief in passage 20. He advises the reader that the only offense that can
be taken to another s opinion is actually just caused by one s own opinion of their insult. As soon as
the importance of this opinion is diminished, one can live freely and according to their own virtue
without worry of harm from others. Both philosophists share the idea that the feelings of others are
inconsequential when compared to a true focus on the path of

Descriptive Essay On Beauty
I had to decorate my head with flowers and was looking exquisite. My father had prohibited me from
using scented perfumes. I also did not have slightest of interest in that. I have been brought up in
nature. Where does beauty live? Is it in jewelry or clothes, in the body, in soul or in the eye of the
beholder? I was wondering.
Four chariots named Rug, Yarju, Sam and Atharva were constructed. The great father Brahma sat on
Rug. Twayi and Anwikshika were sitting in Yarju. Varta and Niti were in Atharva. Yarju was decorated
with beautiful flowers. A drape of flowers covered the front of the chariot. The fourth chariot Atharva
was appearing like a bouquet of red flowers.
I sat in the chariot Sam, which was decorated with vines and fragrant flowers. In front of me, a
garland of white jasmine was hanging. I was bathing with the fragrance of the flowers. My whole
body, my mind, and my soul were all filled with fragrance.
No one could see me from outside the chariot. But, I could see through the vines and thorns. I did not
know the logic behind bringing me to heaven like a prisoner. I was sitting with suppressed curiosity,
but was enjoying the scenery of the Indraloka.
Even though heaven s beauty amazed me, my mind was thinking about my motherland, the earth. My
playground, the elegant forest on the foothills of the Himalayas was no way less beautiful. I could
never accept that my unique mother land is less prosperous than the kingdom of Indraloka. After
attending godhood, it was natural to become a lover of luxury. Hence, the kingdom of gods was so
much a show off. If my motherland was a selfless hermit, the heaven was a hedonist beauty. If the
Indraloka was so attractive, then how attractive Indra would be?
After the discussion, I was supposed to come out of the chariot as if for a display. That time I could
see without any hindrance and Indradeva could also see me.
I remembered my first encounter with Indra. He was visiting my father in the ashram. His chariot was
in the garden and I sat in it pretending to navigate it. As soon as I saw him returning to the chariot, I
got scared. I slipped and fell while descending from the chariot and twisted my feet. I did not cry.
Indradeva was already there. Before he

Magical Realism In Beloved
From early classics like The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde to somewhat recent stories like
The Haunting of Hill House, it seems that no matter what great works are added to horror as a whole,
the genre is never given respect. Consequently, when highly respected works involve horror elements,
critics tend to describe these elements as magical realism to the effect of denying that any high end
literary novel could come from the horror genre. In this case Beloved, a magical realism interpretation
feels lacking because the title character is different from a fairytale ghost or creature; she is a
legitimate threat in the book who should not exist. The entire time Beloved is at 124, Morrison uses
the language, syntax, and plot of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Stretching out her arms she tried to circle it around Sethe.
Firstly, Morrison draws out Beloved s entrance in the first paragraph, building up tension before it is
revealed to the reader that it is Beloved approaching. For the first three whole clauses of the second
sentence, there is no indication that this entrance is for any character readers know. It isn t until the
fourth clause that readers get a strong hint that the figure is Beloved, and the confirmation that it s
Beloved doesn t even come until the second paragraph. In this way, the belated inclusion of her name
almost jolts readers. The pacing feels slow, and the effect is to build tension in the readers gradually
for every clause in the second sentence with no real relief until Beloved s name is mentioned
afterward. This use of isolated clauses to create unease is also found when Beloved is entering the
house after the events in the clearing: Breathing and murmuring, breathing and murmuring, Beloved
heard them as soon as the door banged shut behind her, (page 118). Breathing and murmuring is just
an unusual clause; it puts emphasis on breathing, a normal human action, and it s repeated twice. The
effort Morrison puts into telling us Beloved is breathing makes her seem abnormal, suggesting
breathing is not a given for Beloved. Simultaneously, the repetition of murmuring makes her seem
unstable because of how murmuring is associated with obsessiveness. Looking at these two

World Of Warcraft During The Hakkar Outbreak
I feel like the players that played World of Warcraft during the Hakkar outbreak responded like any
other civilians would in a real life viral outbreak. One way the players did this was they tried to help
each other. They would send players into the outbreak zones that could heal their fellow players.
According to Christakis, and Fowler, the players with healing powers were, often rushing to the center
of the outbreaks to try to help, and they typically died as a result (pg. 577). As Americans we often
rush in to try helping others at the first sign of trouble without always thinking about the
consequences. In the beginning of Hakkar that is what the unaffected players tried, to cure or heal the
players in trouble. Instead, those rushing to aid were infected and they spread the virus. ... Show more

I think hospitals in the infected areas would also create infection zones. When a person comes to a
hospital the doctors don t start with placing the person in quarantine, even if they are unsure what
illness the person has. This action would cause doctors and nurses to become infected. The developers
made quarantines to separate the infected zone from non infected zones. But, the developers soon
found out they couldn t keep people in the quarantine zones. Christakis, and Fowler write this effort
failed because players refused to be quarantined (pg. 577). I have no doubt that people told to stay in a
quarantined area would become irritable quickly. Tensions would increase and cause the people in
quarantine to begin rioting, breaking free of the quarantine. The virus then continues to spread

Future Visions of America in Looking Backward by Edward...
Published in 1888 Looking Backward depicts a future vision of America. Utopian Boston of the year
2000 is designed in a constructive method that excludes capitalism. Through the medium of romantic
novel, Bellamy seeks to impose the idea of socialism into the nineteenth century American society.
Written at a period when economic growth went off the rails triggering the rise in unequal distribution
of wealth, Looking Backward attempts to propose a reform in social and economic systems.
From the eyes of the narrator, the novel presents a spectrum of changes and possibilities for the 19th
century audience. Plagued by the social chaos of the Gilded Age, Julian West falls asleep with
difficulty in 1887 to wake up to the Boston of year 2000, and finds out that all the evils bothering him
in the 19th century have been cast aside.
As the last sparkles of the Civil War cooled down, a period of transformation took over U.S. and the
endeavour to restore post Civil War economy initiated. The Gilded Age, as Mark Twain referred, was
a time identified with economic boom and social change. During those years, U.S. experienced the
transition from agricultural to urban together with industrialisation, scientific innovations and an
economic boom. This modernisation evolvement however, was followed by negative outcomes: as
labour demand amplified the need for immigration broke out and poverty became a remarkable issue.

Reteplase a selective thrombolytic molecule that only activates when fibrin, a protein involved in the
clotting of blood, is present. Activation of plasminogen by reteplase is stimulated in the presence of
fibrin and occurs through what is known as the kringle 2 domain, a type of binding mediator that
regulates the breakdown of proteins. Reteplase does this by acting on an endogenous fibrinolytic
system; by breaking the bond between arginine and valine to convert plasminogen to plasmin. Plasmin
degrades fibrin and fibrinogen, as well as the coagulation factors in this process. The activity of
reteplase depends on the presence of fibrin and in the absence of this, only small amounts of the
plasminogen are transformed into fibrin. While in the presence of a clot, the reteplase penetrates the

The Matrix is a film directed by the Wachowski Brothers depicting a future in which machines rule.
The machines have created a complex computer program called the matrix which simulates a form of

them as an energy source. A number of people have been able to escape the matrix and they continue
to fight the war against the machines in hopes of being able to free everyone still trapped within the

The matrix sets were designed to have a worn and torn look that was imposing and grid like. The
scenes depicting the characters in the real world mostly took place on the ship, Nebuchadnezzar.
These sets were designed to have a patched up look where the wires and components of the ship were
clearly visible, communicating the idea to the audience that the ship is a marriage between man and
machine. In addition to how the sets looked, how the scenes were shot within those sets added to
theme as well. When the characters were within the matrix, the scenes were shot using a green tint,
mimicking the feel of early monochrome computer monitors. When the characters were in the real
world, they used a blue tint and longer shot lenses which soften the background while putting more
emphasis on the characters.
As I also mentioned earlier, the actual appearance of the characters in the film is another component in
the theme of appearance verses reality. When the main characters are in the real world, they are shown
with having a connection port on the back of their necks. This connection port is the means by which
the characters can reconnect to the matrix. The characters were also depicted in the real world as
wearing clothes with a more textile feel, and hair that is less stylized. When compared to how these
characters are depicted when they are inside the

Jefferson Vs Hamilton Essay
Following the ratification of the Constitution in 1788, the 1790s in the United States was a period of
unrest that characterized a new country with little experience. A partisan divide was formed during
this time period, due to the establishment of Hamilton s plan which resulted in conflict of interest
between Federalists and Republicans, the U.S involvement within the French and British conflict, and
the domestic affairs that dominated Adam s presidency. While each issue had strong opposition, the
true problem was rooted in a government that was more focused on combating tyranny, rather than
finding resolutions to the conflicts at hand. Alexander Hamilton was the secretary of treasury during
Washington s presidency. In 1790, Hamilton established a five step program that essentially privatized
the state treasury, and validated stronger bonds in industry based foreign trade. This policy had
support from merchants, manufacturers and financiers, but not small farmers, headed by Jefferson and
Madison, who wanted the U.S to stay agrarian and expand Westward. From these two ideals sprouted
partisan politics; Federalists under Hamilton, and Republicans under Jefferson and Madison. The U.S
Founders were primarily focused on preventing the abuse of power when creating the Constitution,
and thus there was no method to resolving the conflict that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Comparing Characters In Macbeth And The Social Network
Comparing Characters in Macbeth and The Social Network
Similarities and differences are present between nearly anything. For instance, two books can be
compared in regards to their themes. Likewise, multiple people can be contrasted in regards to their
personality. Similarities and differences can be good and bad and they can also help one to clearly see
which of the subjects that are being compared are better than the other. Another example of where two
subjects can be compared is in Macbeth and The Social Network, in regards to the characters. One

This shows how their idea, if successful, would make them rich and potential billionaires, given their

Malcolm are very close to being on top. However, it is evident that the situation in Macbeth is worse
than in The Social Network, because for Malcolm and Donalbain, this power has put them at risk.
Since Duncan has been murdered, they must flee to keep themselves safe. Unlike for the twins, the
only thing that they had at stake was their idea for HarvardConnection being stolen. In this situation,
Shakespeare makes the reader more sympathetic for Donalbain and Malcolm than Sorkin does for the

different and the characters in Macbeth have it worse. Secondly, Lady Macbeth and Sean Parker are
two characters that are similar in the sense that they are the real people in control behind the scenes.
Although everyone may think that Macbeth is strong and a good leader, Lady Macbeth controls him

Bob Marley Research Paper
Bob Marley is without a doubt one of the most inspirational songwriters the world has ever known.
Contrary to popular belief, most of Marley s writings were not ganja anthems, but hopeful songs about
redemption, social injustice, spiritual strength, and perseverance in the face of seemingly impossible
odds. Included here are my selections or Bob Marley s 10 most inspirational songs.
Number One: Zion Train ( Uprising ) 1980. Featured on Marley s 1981 album Uprising, every note of
this tune inspires. It is a song in which Marley s philosophic aphorisms ( Don t gain the world and lose
your soul / Wisdom is better than silver and gold ) are as impactful as the most simplistic, commonly
spoken adages (Oh, where there s a will / There s always ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is one of Marley s most brilliantly penned songs.Number Seven: Duppy Conqueror ( Burnin ) 1974.
While Get Up, Stand Up is the most obvious choice from this album, that song was written by Peter
Tosh. On Duppy Conqueror, Bob, Peter and Bunny go ghost busting ( duppy means evil spirit). An
early Lee Scratch Perry production, Duppy Conqueror is a classic tune about good over evil ( Don t
try to cut me off on this bridge now / I ve got to reach Mt. Zion (the highest region) / So if you a
bullbucka (bad spirit), let me tell you this / I m a duppy conqueror! ).Number Eight: Trenchtown Rock
( Live! ) 1975. Trenchtown Rock is quite possibly the greatest ghetto anthem ever penned. It is a song
in which Marley recasts the ghetto experience from one of shame to one of pride ( Trenchtown rock /
Don t turn your back / Trenchtown rock / I say give the slum a try / Trenchtown rock / Never let the
children cry / Trenchtown rock or you got to tell Jah, Jah why ).Number Nine: The Heathen ( Exodus )
1977. Yet another Marley tune pitting good against evil, The Heathen is a rousing call to arms for the
righteous to take up arms against the wicked ( Rise up fallen fighters / Rise and take your stance again

Effects Of The Deepwater Horizon Oil Leak On The Gulf Of...
On April 20, 2010 The Deepwater Horizon oil rig exploded and sunk into the Gulf of Mexico at
Macondo MC252. Eleven people were killed as a result. The spill released more than 4 million barrels
of oil into the Gulf of Mexico. According to various reports this was one of the worst ecological
disasters in US History next to the Exxon Valdez. As a result of this incident, a plume appeared in the
surrounding area. This plume was initially identified by elevated levels of methane and light aromatic
hydrocarbons (benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes, referred to collectively as BTEX).
(Reddy et al., 2011) Examination of this article will show what chemicals have been introduced into
the gulf waters and the potential impact if left untreated. The disastrous effects of the Deepwater
Horizon oil leak have caused a significant impact on our marine and mammal seafaring wildlife.
Many private and governmental research institute studies were conducted immediately upon
contamination and leakage of the oil flow into the Gulf of Mexico. Extensive studies were conducted
over the course of the months before the capping of the oil well. To this day continued research studies
have been conducted in the 6 years following the oil spill. Analyzing the impacts and effects of the oil
spill, and the changes it has made to our environment and the ecosystem with in the gulf itself. The oil
plume in the Gulf of Mexico is a direct environmental impact on subjects like eutrophication of

One gets to experience things he never thought of and the other we will be behind bars until death for a robbery. In this novel, it really shows the difference between the two and how they grew up. They grew up at the same time, on the same streets, and with the same name. Their stories came together and one helped the other. It was a large story that consists of young boys in a chaotic part of history and violent time and apparent to succeed and fail in revolutionary ways. I Moreover, we shouldn t become someone who we are not. I believe what drives our judgement is the way people think of others. Today in this world, people are close minded and not open to new ideas. Society s think that people who grew up from the bad side of town, they will get nowhere in life. We judge people for the way they look, what they wear, where they re from, where they live, etc. We judge out of our own fears and insecurities. We must treat people the way the want to be treated, not by how you think they should be treated. When we judge someone, do we really know what goes on in their life. • 4. The Mood For Love, Urban Space, And Post Modernity In The Mood For Love, Urban Space, and Post Modernity Wong Kar Wai s Fa Yeung Nin Wa (2000), translated to In The Mood For Love, is an opening to the new millennium and homage to past genres of filmmaking. Deeply rooted in emotion and nostalgia, In The Mood For Love reads as a waltz throughout the entirety of the film. Set in 1962 Hong Kong, journalist Chow Mo wan moves to the city with his wife, who is often away on business. He befriends a woman who lives in his apartment complex, Su Li Zhen (referred to Ms. Chan in the film) who mirrors his loneliness and marital strife. Ironically, Ms. Chan s husband is also often away from business, and both realize their partners are having an affair with their respective spouses. Su and Chow begin a fantasy relationship with one another, pretending to be each other s spouse reenacting how their partners could have gotten together. The protagonists constantly push each other s boundaries of propriety; their combined desire for affection is an extension of the abandonment they feel from their spouses. Panopticon is a set of societal practices that made people submissive in a society. Panopticon is present in the concentration camps because the prisoners did not try to escape or struggle against the SS. Levi states that this unjust law is openly in forces [and] is recognized by all (88). There is a relationship between panopticon and the normality of the camp which is unsaid but the prisoners are always aware of that mysterious faculty (63). Being inside the camp is somewhat the same as being part of a capitalistic modernized society in a way that there are set laws that the government expects people to follow. People are docile because they are aware that if they are caught doing an act that goes against the law, they would have to deal with the state apparatus. Similarly, the prisoners are aware that almost every move they make is monitored by an SS or is bound to be noticed. Panopticon is another reason why there is normality in the ... Malice is personified throughout the text as a hot headed man and is described as someone or something that should be avoided at all times. Additionally, at several sections in the text, the author notes how even the gods and other natural forces hold maliciousness or the hot headed man in contempt. Yarju was decorated with beautiful flowers. A drape of flowers covered the front of the chariot. The fourth chariot Atharva was appearing like a bouquet of red flowers. I sat in the chariot Sam, which was decorated with vines and fragrant flowers. In front of me, a garland of white jasmine was hanging. I was bathing with the fragrance of the flowers. My whole body, my mind, and my soul were all filled with fragrance. No one could see me from outside the chariot. But, I could see through the vines and thorns. I did not know the logic behind bringing me to heaven like a prisoner. I was sitting with suppressed curiosity, but was enjoying the scenery of the Indraloka. Even though heaven s beauty amazed me, my mind was thinking about my motherland, the earth. My playground, the elegant forest on the foothills of the Himalayas was no way less beautiful. I could never accept that my unique mother land is less prosperous than the kingdom of Indraloka. After attending godhood, it was natural to become a lover of luxury. Hence, the kingdom of gods was so much a show off. If my motherland was a selfless hermit, the heaven was a hedonist beauty. If the Indraloka was so attractive, then how attractive Indra would be? After the discussion, I was supposed to come out of the chariot as if for a display. That time I could see without any hindrance and Indradeva could also see me. I remembered my first encounter with Indra. He was visiting my father in the ashram. His chariot was in the garden and I sat in it pretending to navigate it. As soon as I saw him returning to the chariot, I got scared. I slipped and fell while descending from the chariot and twisted my feet. I did not cry. Indradeva was already there. Before he ... Magical Realism In Beloved From early classics like The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde to somewhat recent stories like The Haunting of Hill House, it seems that no matter what great works are added to horror as a whole, the genre is never given respect. Consequently, when highly respected works involve horror elements, critics tend to describe these elements as magical realism to the effect of denying that any high end literary novel could come from the horror genre. In this case Beloved, a magical realism interpretation feels lacking because the title character is different from a fairytale ghost or creature; she is a legitimate threat in the book who should not exist. Firstly, Morrison draws out Beloved s entrance in the first paragraph, building up tension before it is revealed to the reader that it is Beloved approaching. For the first three whole clauses of the second sentence, there is no indication that this entrance is for any character readers know. It isn t until the fourth clause that readers get a strong hint that the figure is Beloved, and the confirmation that it s Beloved doesn t even come until the second paragraph. In this way, the belated inclusion of her name almost jolts readers. The pacing feels slow, and the effect is to build tension in the readers gradually for every clause in the second sentence with no real relief until Beloved s name is mentioned afterward. This use of isolated clauses to create unease is also found when Beloved is entering the house after the events in the clearing: Breathing and murmuring, breathing and murmuring, Beloved heard them as soon as the door banged shut behind her, (page 118). Breathing and murmuring is just an unusual clause; it puts emphasis on breathing, a normal human action, and it s repeated twice. The effort Morrison puts into telling us Beloved is breathing makes her seem abnormal, suggesting breathing is not a given for Beloved. Simultaneously, the repetition of murmuring makes her seem unstable because of how murmuring is associated with obsessiveness. Looking at these two ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 27. Future Visions of America in Looking Backward by Edward... Published in 1888 Looking Backward depicts a future vision of America. Utopian Boston of the year 2000 is designed in a constructive method that excludes capitalism. Through the medium of romantic novel, Bellamy seeks to impose the idea of socialism into the nineteenth century American society. Written at a period when economic growth went off the rails triggering the rise in unequal distribution of wealth, Looking Backward attempts to propose a reform in social and economic systems. From the eyes of the narrator, the novel presents a spectrum of changes and possibilities for the 19th century audience. Plagued by the social chaos of the Gilded Age, Julian West falls asleep with difficulty in 1887 to wake up to the Boston of year 2000, and finds out that all the evils bothering him in the 19th century have been cast aside. As the last sparkles of the Civil War cooled down, a period of transformation took over U.S. and the endeavour to restore post Civil War economy initiated. The Gilded Age, as Mark Twain referred, was a time identified with economic boom and social change. During those years, U.S. experienced the transition from agricultural to urban together with industrialisation, scientific innovations and an economic boom. This modernisation evolvement however, was followed by negative outcomes: as labour demand amplified the need for immigration broke out and poverty became a remarkable issue. Activation of plasminogen by reteplase is stimulated in the presence of fibrin and occurs through what is known as the kringle 2 domain, a type of binding mediator that regulates the breakdown of proteins. Reteplase does this by acting on an endogenous fibrinolytic system; by breaking the bond between arginine and valine to convert plasminogen to plasmin. Plasmin degrades fibrin and fibrinogen, as well as the coagulation factors in this process. The activity of reteplase depends on the presence of fibrin and in the absence of this, only small amounts of the plasminogen are transformed into fibrin. Jefferson Vs Hamilton Essay Following the ratification of the Constitution in 1788, the 1790s in the United States was a period of unrest that characterized a new country with little experience. A partisan divide was formed during this time period, due to the establishment of Hamilton s plan which resulted in conflict of interest between Federalists and Republicans, the U.S involvement within the French and British conflict, and the domestic affairs that dominated Adam s presidency. While each issue had strong opposition, the true problem was rooted in a government that was more focused on combating tyranny, rather than finding resolutions to the conflicts at hand. Alexander Hamilton was the secretary of treasury during Washington s presidency. In 1790, Hamilton established a five step program that essentially privatized the state treasury, and validated stronger bonds in industry based foreign trade. This policy had support from merchants, manufacturers and financiers, but not small farmers, headed by Jefferson and Madison, who wanted the U.S to stay agrarian and expand Westward. From these two ideals sprouted partisan politics; Federalists under Hamilton, and Republicans under Jefferson and Madison. The U.S Founders were primarily focused on preventing the abuse of power when creating the Constitution, and thus there was no method to resolving the conflict that ...
