How Tap Portugal Changed The World
As there are various state owned flag carrier, TAP is one of them. TAP Portugal has been the pride
of many Portuguese people throughout the world. TAP is not only the national carrier, but also the
vehicle of transportation that brings one to the home country. TAP Portugal like various airlines
throughout the world, has suffered immensely for survival in such a competitive market throughout
the years. With 61 years of existence, TAP s history is quite extensive. TAP Portugal
was not the first
airlinein Portugal. A few airlines had started before World War II, but with the world concentrating
on the ongoing war, civil aviation took a backseat, and many airlines ceased their operations. And
then came along a man with a vision,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

On 14 March 1945, Humberto Delgado, creates Secção de Transportes Aéreos (Air Transport
Section), what is known today as TAP Portugal. (Tap s History, 2016) That same year, TAP
Portugal acquires two Dakota DC 3, leftovers from the World War II. (Coutinho Rocha, 2013) He
saw the need of connecting the Portuguese colonies, Angola, Mozambique to Portugal. In 1946,
after acquiring the two aircrafts TAP Portugal could then launch two routes. The first commercial
Lisbon Madrid service began on 19 September 1946, while on 31 December, the Imperial Airline
was launched, flying between Lisbon, Luanda [Angola], and Lourenço Marques [Mozambique],
a return journey of 24,540 kilometers that took a total of 15 days and included 12 stopovers. (Tap
s History, 2016) This was the beginning of TAP Portugal. Throughout the years, TAP began
expanding their routes. In 1950 s, the jet engine would ultimately revolutionize the airline
industry, shrinking air travel time in half by enabling planes to climb faster and fly higher. (First
Jet makes test flight, 2010) With the innovation of jet engines that meant TAP could now fly
longer routes, and unite farther old colonies to the homeland. That same year [1955] Admiral
Gago Coutinho made a test flight to Rio de Janeiro. (Tap s History, 2016) However, before jet
engines came to TAP, it would suffer some changes. TAP

Essay on Cox s Container Company (CCC)
In the modern constant changes business environment, company needs to change constantly to
remain competitive in the market. If not, the company will be facing survival risk. There are no
mercy and exception for Cox s Container Company ( CCC ). CCC faced increasing competitions
over the past 5 years and profits are in declining trends due to reduce in margins. Harold Cox was
clueless on how to rectify the problems. He has delegated the task to Erica Wilson to review CCC s
operations and oversee organization changes. Under her control and management, new central
administration department was formed to implement budgeting system and company wide
information system. First time in the history of CCC, Wilson recruited external... Show more

Aziz, there are informal group being formed under John Straw to run the whole company on his
own interest without knowing the complexities of production which was a formal group created
consciously by management to carry out a specific task (implementing new system) and

A Brief Biography On The State Of Education
A Brief Biography It is interesting to note that one of the most influential educators and
researchers of all time was rejected for a professorship position because she was a woman and
because she was overqualified (Fraenkel). Much to the benefit of present day curriculum
development, the job rejection landed her in a series of positions that would eventually lead to her
work with the U.S. Office of Education. Described as a short, squat, and spunky woman, Hilda
Taba was notorious for her matter of fact, no nonsense approach in dealing with people (Krull,
481). Born in Estonia, in 1902, she received a German education, and then went on to study in the
United States. The combination and the contrast of her two educations would later play an integral
role in the formation of her curriculum ideals. Furthermore, her background in science contributed
greatly to her scientific model of curriculum development (Hayes, 15). Taba worked closely with
some of the most influential curriculum researchers and theorist of the 21st Century, including
Benjamin Bloom, Ralph Tyler and John Dewey (Costa, Loveall, 57). In fact, many historical
surveys regarding leaders of curriculum development and progressive education commonly refer to
Taba as a disciple of Dewey.
Learning and Curriculum Over the course of her career, Taba developed many theories regarding
learning. In her seminal book, Curriculum Development Theory and Practice (1962), Taba defined
knowledge and classified it into three

The Weimar Government And The Causes Of The Weimar Republic
While war reparations rocked the Weimar Republic, debt wracked the farmers in the French
Republic, leading to dissent and disillusionment amongst the citizens. In this period of instability,
the inability of the republics to propose legislation without dissent opened way for new leaders
taking advantage of the situation, promising a more unified and better society.
With the fall of major monarchies, both France and Germany strived to create representative
governments that listened to the needs of the people. However, that did not work out as intended,
with the government focusing more on the upper class rather than the peasants that made up the
majority of the fledgling republic s population. For example, the Constitution of 1793, advocated by
Maximilien Robespierre, granted universal suffrage for men. Even with the increased rights for the
people, the government did not ratify legislation that appealed to the majority of the population, the
peasants. Instead, legislation that abolished property requirements for farmers, de christianized
society, and created a republic calendar did not appeal to the farmers swimming in debt with a lack
of food on the table (Tocqueville). As a result, the new republic enabled the common people to voice
out against them, rather than for them. After a few centuries, the Weimar Republicfaced a similar
situation. With much of the country disillusioned after their loss in World War I
, the citizens looked

Sigmund Freud s Civilization And Its Discontents
Sigmund Freud, in his book Civilization and Its Discontents, contests that humans are subject to
savage, animalistic instincts. He opposes the Marxist value that humans are superior to their animal
counterparts, rather, he holds, humans are quite like wolves to each other. With this claim, he
explores how internal compositions work in the grand scheme, to create a working mechanism of
society that tames and creates internal negotiations of behaviour and instinct. (also include what
comes of the last question) Freud, a psychologist, had views that were at odds with Marxist values,
derived from a philosopher and economist. Their views on what drives human nature are
fundamentally different. Freud adhered to the belief that humans are enslaved by their instinctive
forces. This is to say that humans are driven to seek out pleasure. Marx, on the other hand, believed
that humans are motivated by their place in society through labour. His core value was the division
of labor, and how it structures society. Freud understood man in a Darwinian sense, that man comes
from natural selection, in the sense that Darwin insisted on its [homo sapiens] kinship with lesser
cousins and observed that the stamp of [its] lowly origin was quite ineffaceable (12). This contrasts
with the Marxist assumption that humans are different from animals, the belief in human
exceptionalism. Under this presumption, Marx finds that abuse and violence occurs in consequence
to disproportionate distributions

Yosemite Valley Research Paper
Geology of the Valley
Yosemite Valley is full of stunning and breathtaking sights. However, millions of years of
geologic changes have occurred to make Yosemite Valley what it is today. Even from the initial
formation of California, Yosemite has been evolving. Each part of the geologic history of
Yosemite plays a very significant role, because even if one small thing did not occur, then the
Yosemite that we know today would not be familiar to us.
The beginning of Yosemite s geologic historic was about 500 million years ago. Back then, North
America lay near the equator and California was covered by a tropical sea. Rivers from North
America flowed into the ocean, flushing great amounts of sediment off land. As the layers of
sediment grew ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

relatively common in the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range and tend to also play an important role in
the changing landscape of Yosemite Valley. The most considerable form of erosion that is acting
on Yosemite right now is rock falls. While most of them are pretty insignificant, large rockfalls

The Population Of Young Immigrants And The United Kingdom
Abstract The study emphasized on the encounters and experiences of irregular migrant children
who, via a number of different routes and circumstances, to live in the United Kingdom short of
legal dwelling status and inhabitant youngsters who stay with a minimum of one unauthorized
parent. The study reveals the numerous techniques in which inadequate legal status influence the
well being of child migrants directly as well as through their parentages, influential their social
worlds, and most significantly, their likelihoods for the future (Sigona, Hughes, 2010). Through
investigation of facilities and resources accessible to the children, the research is meant to shed
light on migrant youngsters experience with community services and the difficulties and
peculiarities of the migration structures at the period of economic recession and fundamental
reorganization of the public services. Concerning education, the research focused principally on
access to and involvements with formal education (Sigona, Hughes, 2010). Research Aims The
aim of the research is to investigate the profile of the populace of youngsters deprived of legal
migration status in the United Kingdom. The research also looks at the children s rights and
powers, specifically in relation to training and health care; it also explores in specific, the
association between migration and the welfare of child legislation, comprising how it marks the
statutory obligation of public service suppliers (Sigona,

Research Paper On Glossophobia
Glossophobia a fear of public speaking is pretty common amongst people. Almost everyone
suffers from the fear of not performing well in front of others, at least to some degree. It is only
natural to feel scared because humans are wired to be concerned about what others think about
us. We get a sense of importance when we know other people admire and acknowledge the work
that we do. A perfect example of this is how and why we post the coolest things we do on
Facebook. We post things to please the audience of our posts. Or another way to put it, we post
on Facebook because we seek the validation of people viewing our Facebook profiles. This does
not necessarily build our confidence, but it simply goes to show that we all care about what
everyone else thinks about us, and that is not necessarily a negative quality. It is only natural to
feel so. In fact it is those people who care about what people think about them who end up being
successful... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

glossophobic but even have a severe stuttering problem. They all faked it till they made it. So,
now you can too! Some good tips on how to fake confidence: your posture. When you are
standing in front of an audience, strike up a power pose think Superman or Wonderwoman.

Best PCEP Classes
The Good Part of School: The Best PCEP Classes All of the best classes to take at PCEP share
similar qualities. They are all easy, fun, and elective based. Although a few are somewhat related
to core classes, they are still interesting nonetheless. I speak from experience because I have
taken (or are currently taking) almost all of the classes on this list. The most common quality
that some classes share is that they are easy. The easiest class of all would be Combination
Rackets. All that is required is to show up and participate. It s hard to not get an A unless
attendance is an issue. Another really easy class is Photoshop. There is never any homework and
the majority of the graded work is the tests that are given every once in a while.... Show more

The best electives to take are the gym classes. They are the most enjoyable overall because they are
both fun and easy. They can also potentially help boost a students GPA because of how easy it is to
get an A. Another category of good electives are Auto classes. They re pretty simple and students
can get a lot of work accomplished in there, like doing repairs on a car belonging to a kid in the
class. There are opportunities to learn all the advanced techniques of mechanics in order to use
them in the future for fixing up cars. The third and most interesting category of electives is
electronics classes, like Photoshop and Web Design. They teach students a lot about computer
skills and are really easy. They can also be enjoyable sometimes when the class does special
projects that involve students using creativity to make something, like a website or a picture. In
summary, they are lots of different types of PCEP electives that are worth

Psychology Assumptions
We all hold assumptions about the world and how it works. These assumptions frame our
understanding of God, ourselves, others, and life and how to be successful in life. These
assumptions affect our understanding and interpretation of facts and of events that occur in our
lives. As Aristotle said, It s not the facts that divide men, but the interpretation of the facts (as
cited in Hummel, 1986, p. 23). Our assumptions are acquired, often unconsciously or uncritically,
by our own experiences and by what we have been taught about life by others. They become a
lens by which we view reality. Entwistle (2010) writes that, the world is seen through the lenses of
our assumptions (p. 134). If the lens is distorted, our view of reality will be distorted.... Show more

The physical sciences have a more objective means of measuring and testing subjects. What is the
temperature of the sun? What is the value of the proton mass? What is the structure of a DNA
molecule? These all have physical proper ties that can be measured and tested. Psychology is more
subjective than the physical sciences and therefore more open to interpretation. Myers (2014)
understands psychology as a science that seeks to answer such questions about us all how and
why we think, feel, and act as we do (p. 1). Questions such as, Who are we? What produces our
thoughts? Our feelings? Our actions? And how are we to understand and manage those around
us? (Myers, 2014, p. 2). Answers to questions like these are profoundly affected by our
presuppositions. For example, if I believe that people are inherently good and not affected by
sin, I m going to answer these questions a certain way. If I believe that people are created in the
image of God, but fallen and being redeemed, I m going to answer them differently. How I
respond to people and circumstances will also be different. So examining and understanding my
own presuppositions as well as those of the theorists I am studying is important if I am going to be
more objective and discover the

Literature Review On Impression Management
1. Literature Review
For the purpose of this review, the following section has been broken down into the following three
areas:
1.1What are the origins of impression management?
1.2How is impression management applied in corporate reporting?
1.3Why is impression management used as a means of corporate communication?
Each area will look to assimilate the key items of literature from relevant and appropriate sources
surrounding the fundamental theories and practices of impression management. In doing so, this
review will form the required basis to critically evaluate both the use of impression management in
the context of the 2016 EU Referendum as well as the overall ethicality of the practice.
1.1 What are the origins of impression ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Of the taxonomies and methodologies reviewed, four key perspectives on impression management
stand out: Economic, Psychological, Sociological and Critical. Combined, these perspectives of
impression management have defined the majority of academic research undertaken by scholars
and organisations alike (Brennan, Vourvachis, Merkl Davies, 2013). In doing so, they have aligned
several other noteworthy concepts which underpin impression management including legitimacy,
signalling, agency, institutional and stakeholder theories.
Conclusively, it is clear that impression management in practice allows for many opportunities of
manipulation not so dissimilar to Goffman s actor vs. audience analogy. And while this
manipulation itself could be seen to some as encouraging acts of sophism, to others it provides a
useful methodology of communicating potentially sensitive items to audiences of an increasingly
volatility .
1.2 How is impression management applied in corporate reporting?
Having confirmed the origins of impression management, it is reasonable to say that the theory can
be applied as a tool which aids in the manipulation and interpretation of all the data types contained
within the communicative medium of a corporate report. Furthermore, we can deduce

Persepolis Gender Analysis
In American Born Chinese and in Persepolis, both protagonists hate their nationality and wish
they were normal. Being a minority can be difficult at times. Sometimes, minorities are looked
down upon and just wish that they could be normal like the rest of the people they are
surrounded by. In Persepolis, Satrapi was asked what race she was and lied in response to gain
others respect and to be seen as an equal. In the graphic novel, the panel used at this time shows
tense emotions by the action lines seen and the facial expressions. When she lies, the entire
background is black and she looks sad. Satrapi does not maintain eye contact when she lied
because she was embarrassed and knew she made a mistake. With the gutters between the
scenes, we can assume how she is feeling after lying. Occasionally, ignorant people will assume
that you are just like your race. In Satrapi s case, people would see her as a terrorist. Satrapi lied
so that the boy she liked would view her as a normal person, not just some terrorist. In American
Born Chinese, Jin Wang also denied his nationality to be seen as normal by society. When Wang
was introduced to class, a boy made a joke saying, Don t you people eat dogs? . Racism due to
being a minority can affect how much one wants to express their culture. If people are intolerant of
others, they have a tendency to hide their culture. Wang was also classmates with a another Asian
girl, which he never talked to because his classmates would make racist jokes about arranged
marriages. When another Asian boy was introduced to the class, Wang wanted to hit him because he
fit the stereotypes of the Asian culture. He was depicted wearing glasses, dressing in horrendous
clothing, having an accent, and having squinty eyes. Wang did not want to associate with the new
kid. When the new kid spoke the Chinese language, Wang was mad. His eyebrows were squinted
and he told him You re in America. Speak English. In general, both the protagonist from the stories
hid their nationalism so that they would not be picked on. They both need to accept their
nationalism in order to mature. In both graphic novels, both protagonists, Wang and Satrapi, want to
fit in with white America. Satrapi spends a good

New guidelines allow agencies more time to detect suspicious claims, investigate and save the

In both stories, The Rocking Horse Winner by D.H. Lawrence and The Destructors by Graham
Greene we see the common theme of
wanting to be envied by others because of what we have or can do. The need to do better, have
prestige and more power than anyone else is a
very common human conflict that is dealt with on all levels of humanity. The emotional
environment that man grows and develops in plays
a factor in how he approaches everyday life.

All of these main characters shared a lot of common attributes. The first and most important

Green Incentives in Malaysia
Environmental sustainability is gaining much focus in the recent years as people are beginning to
strive for a balance between economic growth and sustainability. In fact, many developed countries
such as UK, Japan have implemented strict environmental policies to enhance the quality on the

been marginal in achieving effective management of resources, pollution control and prevention of
environmental degradation.

Decline In Cedar Trees
The article discusses three possible reasons for the decrease in the population of a specific
species of Cedar trees, named yellow Cedar. However, the professor states that none of these
reasons could be responsible for the decline in Cedar population. The professor s arguments to
oppose the article are as follows. First, the passage introduces insects such as bark beetle as a
potential damaging factor. According to the author, these insects might exploit trees as parasites.
However, the professor refutes this by referring to the fact that Cedar trees are indeed resistant
plants against insects. Since the trees are coated with toxic chemicals, they are somewhat immune
against insects, thus bark beetle could not cause damage and reduction of population in Cedar trees.

Q. Explain the factors which make it difficult to amend the US Constitution (15 marks) To amend
the US Constitution, a bill has to go through a two stage process: proposal and ratification. The
proposal stage has to have two thirds majority in both the House of Representatives and the
Senate. Every successful amendment has started this way and even the failed ones. A proposal
can also be made by a Constitutional convention, which is a one off body which is put together for
a specific purpose, and this is called by Congress on petition by two thirds of the states. This
method has never been used. The problem with this proposal method is that the Constitution doesn

However, there are implications for ratification. Thirty eight states are needed for ratification.
The problem with this is that there are huge variations in political culture of states the South is
known to be Conservative, North East or West Coast is known to be liberal/Cosmopolitan, North
is known to be urban and industrial and the Midwest is known to be rural and agricultural.
Therefore, with the differences in political culture, there are demands for a nationwide consensus
which can prove difficult. An example of this was the Equal Rights Act which failed to pass the
ratification stage as it was 3 states shy of the 38 needed to pass the ratification stage. It was
argued that there was already the 14th Amendment which states the Equal Opportunities Act. But
the Equal Rights Act failed because it ran out of time there was a 7 year time limit and it took 10
years. The amendment process takes place contemporaneously, meaning it is based on issues
happening at the moment. There was also an economic factor which was said to prevent this Act
from passing. Big businesses would have had to pay out more to ensure both male and females
received equal pay. Often these corporate companies would have connections to politicians
themselves, to oppose the Act because the businesses had access to them and pressure groups did
not. The pressure

The Role Of Dhs And Its Political Environment
It is the responsibility of the Government to provide security to its people. The Department of
Homeland Security DHS was formed after the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. Before the attacks,
independent agencies handled homeland security. The DHS was formed to have most of these
agencies work together under one management to secure America.
This paper will argue the role of DHS and its political environment and how it achieves its goals of
protecting America by working within its current environment. The political environment of DHS
is Majoritarian where both the benefits and the costs are spread over most or all of the population
and the agency is able to perform in that certain environment.
Agency:
The creation of DHS was the result of the tragic events of 9/11. The department was formed in
2002 and is a combination of twenty two agencies. Some of the prominent ones are, The

Pathophysiology Of Celiac Disease Of Gluten, Wheat,...
PATHOPHYSIOLOGY Celiac disease is an enteropathy mediated by an autoimmune response to
gluten, a protein complex found in the endosperm of wheat, barley, and rye.1 The immune response
is triggered by both environmental and genetic factors in individuals susceptible to the disease
resulting in elevated levels of immunoglobulin A (IgA) antibodies to tissue transglutaminase (tTG),
duodenal mucosal villi atrophy, and the inability of tight junctions to properly act as a barrier
between the gastrointestinal tract and the systemic portion of the body.1 Environmental Factors
Consumption of gluten is the root cause of the autoimmune response that initiates the cascade of
reactions in the body. Gluten proteins can be fractionated into gliadin and glutenin, which are the
environmental factors that trigger the immune response in the small intestine.2 These protein
molecule complexes are normally unable to permeate the intestinal epithelial. However, with celiac
disease, the integrity of tight junctions is compromised, allowing the protein complex to breach
the intestinal lining. The regulatory intestinal peptide zonulin is thought to be responsible for the
weakened state of tight junctions.2 Genetic Factors Human leukocyte antigens (HLA) class II
genes are recognized as the primary genetic predisposition for celiac disease.3 Patients who are
carriers of the HLA DQ2 allele account for 95% of confirmed celiac disease cases.4 The majority
of the remaining population with the disease are

Ted Bundy was born in 1946 in Burlington Vermont and his mother was Eleanor Louise Cowell
who was not married. Bundy s father is a war veteran named Jack Worthington. As a child Bundy
grew up thinking that his mother was his older sister. While Bundy was a child they lived in
Pennsylvania and in 1950 him and his mother moved to washington to live with relatives. A year
later Bundy s mother met Johnny Bundy who she got married to in May and Johnny changed
Ted s last name to bundy. Bundy s stepfather tried to include his step son in activities like
camping but Bundy was still not very happy with his stepfather. Bundy was a great student at his
high school named Woodrow Wilson but he was very shy and not very social at all. By the time
Bundy was a teenager he was becoming a amature crinimal by stealing things like skis and skiing
equipment because of his love of skiing. He would also forge ski lift tickets to go skiing for free....

Hydrostatic Force on a Plane Surface
September 26, 2003
CVEN 3313 Theoretical Fluid Mechanics
Module#1:
1 1. OBJECTIVE
The purpose of this module is to investigate hydrostatic forces on a plane surface under partial and
full submersion.
2 2. DESCRIPTION
The apparatus shown in Figure 1 will be used. It consists of a quarter circle block attached to a
cantilevered arm with a rectangular surface on the other end. The pivot point on the arm
corresponds to the center of radius of the block. With no water in the tank, and no weights on the
scale, the arm is horizontal. As weights are added one by one to the scales, water can be added to
the tank so that the hydrostatic force balances the weights and bring the arm back to horizontal.
3 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Note on your table when the plane surface is no longer fully submerged.
6 4. RESULTS ANALYSIS
1) Derive equations for the mass (Mtheoretical) that balances the hydrostatic force for the partially
submerged case. (i.e. h less than a) Mtheoretical = f(a, b, g, k, h, L, Оіw)
2) Derive equations for the mass (Mtheoretical) that balances the hydrostatic force for the fully
submerged case. (i.e. h greater than a) Mtheoretical = f(a, b, g, k, h, L, Оіw)
3) Compute Mtheoretical for each value of h you measured. Tabulate h, Mactual, Mtheoretical, and
other data you obtained.
4) Plot Mactual vs h and Mtheoretical vs h on the same graph (h on the x axis.) What does the
shape of the graph indicate about the hydrostatic force for each case (partially and fully submerged)?
5) Plot Mactual vs Mtheoretical .
7 5. DISCUSSION
1) Compare and discuss actual and theoretical results. Are they similar? If there is any discrepancy,
what are possible sources of error?
2) State qualitatively why an incremental change in mass (i.e. 50 g) for the fully submerged case
results in a different change in height, О”h, than the same incremental change in mass for the
partially submerged case.
3) In this experiment, only the forces on the plane surface were considered. Do the hydrostatic
forces on the curved surface of the quarter circle block affect the measurement? State why or why

The Importance Of Sports And Politics In Sports
In recent years, America has seen a rise in police shootings of black men and women, as well as
a response from the black community protesting against the injustice being brought upon their
race. How exactly does this fit into the NFL? In the past, sports were sports and politics were
politics, but since the civil rights era there has been an increase of politics in sports. From
Tommie Smith and John Carlos in the 1968 Olympics to the present day Kaepernick wave of
players kneeling during the anthem, many are on their side, many are confused, and many are
enraged. Kneeling brought to light how black and white the issue is racially, the politics behind it,
and how protests like these can help the black and other minority communities. While calling NFL
players unpatriotic may be easy, one must first try to understand the mentality of these black
athletes before attacking them for going against your own beliefs. Kaepernick started his protests
Aug 14th, 2016 by sitting on the bench for three preseason games straight. It sparked controversy
after a reporter posted a picture of the anthem, not specifically of Kaepernick. When asked why he
sat for the anthem, Kaepernick stated that he s going to continue to stand with the people that are
being oppressed...When there s significant change and [he feels] that flag represents what it s
supposed to represent, and this country is representing people the way that it s supposed to, [he ll]
stand. (SBNation). Kaepernick s protest

Antisocial Personality Disorder And Psychopathy
What is Antisocial Personality Disorder?
Antisocial Personality Disorder is a disorder that is characterized by a long standing pattern of
disregard for other people s rights, often crossing the line and violating those rights. A person with
Antisocial Personality Disorder often feels little or no empathy toward other people, and doesn t
see the problem in bending or breaking the law for their own needs or wants. The disorder usually
begins in childhood or as a teen and continues into adulthood. Individuals with Antisocial
Personality Disorder frequently lack empathy and tend to be heartless, distrustful, and
condescending of the feelings, rights, and sufferings of others. They are also known to be

Worldview Is What You Think About The World
What is Worldview?
Worldview is what you see and think about the world. So it would depend on the person on what
they think about the world since everyone is different. It is what you believe of what you have
heard and would take it to heart of what you believe. For example in the book called Finding
Your Worldview: Thinking Christianly about the World, it gives an example of different color
lens. When you give others a different color lens each of them is going to be seeing it differently
and that is how Worldview works and it would impact your life when you would respond to
issues in the world. A worldview would feed off a person that would base every action, opinion
and a response that they would see in the world. So since the world is built around their life, they
would share what they have seen and experienced. People always wonder how life began or
mankind comes into existence and it is hard for someone to explain what you believe by just
saying what you think is right. It tells and shows God creating the heavens and the earth in the
beginning. (Genesis 1:1). In the bible, God created the world in six days and rested on the seventh
day. (Genesis 2:1 3) Christians believe that God created us in His own image. (Genesis 1:27) God
made us to be like Him; of course we are not nearly perfect as God. But we would have the ability
to understand and learn and to obey what God has sent us down here for. So it is believed in
Christian worldview of how life began, that God

The Emergence Of Scientific Management
The emergence of scientific management
Frederick W. Taylor is called the father of scientific management who is world famous through his
book named The Principles of Scientific Management . The Principles of Scientific Management
was first published in the early 20th century. Through his work, Frederick W. Taylor described that
the process of scientific management can increase total worker organizational efficiency.
The theory of scientific management was not invented by one day. It took many times for
Frederick W. Taylor to understand that time s organizational structure; workers behavior
machinery tools etc. the idea was generated in his mind because he worked in various firms during
the late 19th century, starting in 1878 with Midvale steel company. He worked there several years
recognized some of the process of the factory operation. He realized, at that time the management
had no clear knowledge of working responsibilities or management responsibilities. There wasn t
any organized or structured work standard. The managers were taking their decision with guess,
past experience, intuition which in many time resulted in failure. The workers efficiency level didn
t grow.
Frederick w. Taylor was promoted to chief engineer at the age of twenty eight. At that time he also
saw that the bonding among the workers and the foremen is too weak like struggling over the
quantity of output. Taylor wanted to implement some general method to solve that matter, but he
understood

Socrates s View Of Love
In The Symposium, Love is described to be a goddess by the men who are praising her powers in
several eulogies. However, Socrates proves that their claims are incorrect evaluations during his
speech. Socrates chooses to analyze and discuss the truth of love through rhetoric rather than submit
to the illusionary art of poetry that the other men used. Although the context of Loveis set up in the
mythological sense, Socrates speech transcends the topic from merely describing the goddess
powers to separating her as an entity from the actions and emotions that go along with the
conception of loving : I think you saw Love as the object of love instead of the lover (Plato, 40,
204b). Socrates, takes the route of philosophy and aims to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The idea that Socrates is portraying is that one must move past the emotions attached to the
physical world and transcend into the love of the mind. The goal of going through these steps is to
find this essential idea of beauty so that, in this divine sense, one can see love everywhere. Love
therefore, is shown in the mythological realm, but also as an abstract conception of the emotions
and actions that Love spurs within humans for the desire to search out and attain beauty. Socrates
touches on the idea of what it means to love another person, and how to find absolute beauty in this
pursuit.
The Fire Next Time emphasizes love in the communal sense and how when facing extreme hatred,
love can bring the marginalized together. Baldwin s text is heavily concentrated on the prejudicial
attitudes towards the African Americans by the Americans during the early 1960 s. The racism
described in this text is stressed by the violent actions towards and the overall dehumanization of the
African Americans. However, the hatred towards their race encourages the group to love each
other more: if we had not loved each other none of us would have survived (Baldwin, 7). The
African Americans are driven to other sources of love when exiled from the acceptance of the
whites, and ultimately come together as a unit to oppose the race who is persistent on tearing away
their humanity. Instead

Dissent In The Civil Rights Movement
On January 21, 2017, an estimated 500,000 Americans marched on the National Mall, continuing a
longstanding tradition of protest on this public space. On this particular day, protesters sought to
send a message to President Donald Trump regarding women s rights. Known as the Women s
March, this event is only one of the more recent examples of large scale protest and dissent on the
National Mall. Throughout American history, protest movements have often made their way to
Washington, D.C., the capital city and political center of the United States. Although the National
Mall was not necessarily designed in a way that fosters protest, it quickly became the foremost
venue for American demonstration. As AIDS activist Cleve Jones once stated, the... Show more

Although the McMillan Plan left some room for interpretation, it also continued to promote some

[and] made the Mall the nation s premier setting for political assembly and protest. More simply,
protestors used the glorified sense of union promoted on the Mall to push forward their political
dissent. This principle is particularly relevant in understanding the Civil Rights Movement s
utilization of the National Mall. In August 1963, Martin Luther King Jr. and other civil rights
leaders planned a prayer pilgrimage to the Lincoln Memorial, where King delivered his most
famous speech on its steps. King s choice to deliver his speech at this memorial was undeniably
deliberate. Abolitionist President Lincoln led the United States through the Civil War and gained a
reputation as the man who ended slavery. King s speech, delivered at the memorial that honored
that man, outlined the principles of racial equality focusing on many of the shortcomings in
American society. King s choice of venue suggested that although the Lincoln Memorial celebrated
equality in principle, the United States had a long way to go regarding this issue. This
demonstration s use of a feature on the National Mall demonstrated the hypocrisy of it, as the public
space honored a doctrine that was not universally practiced in everyday American life. This march
was one of the first of its kind, but it was certainly not the last. Throughout the latter half of the
twentieth century, demonstrations have utilized features of the National Mall to promote relevant
political causes. Demonstrations against the Vietnam War occurred frequently on the National
Mall, many of which were less carefully

A Research On Technology Management
Technology Management It is the innovation in the working environment permits organizations to
grow rapidly and effectively. Business innovation, for example, video conferencing, interpersonal
organizations and virtual office innovation has evacuated work environment limits that
beforehand constrained business development. With business innovation, organizations can
focus on a more extensive client base and develop to larger amounts. Office innovation spares
times by accelerating the work process. Computerized documenting frameworks spare space,
paper and printing costs. The utilization of computerised systems like robots permit remedies to
be made in a flash. Assets like electronic records and access to data innovation are accessible with
the snap of a catch. (Scott, n.d.) Haigh s have all the computerised facilities to run a business

Culture And Sensitivity Of Bacteria
Culture and Sensitivity If your patient has an infection of any kind it s critical to know which
antibiotics will be effective against the particular pathogen or disease causing agent. This means
that the species and strain of bacteria, fungus, or other pathogen must be identified and he drugs
that will be the most effective at clearing up the infection must be determined. The only way this
can be done is by running a culture and sensitivity test. Just keep in mind that there are many
different types of culture medias and hundreds of different sensitivity discs that correlate to
different drugs. A negative test on one of these media plates does not meant that there is nothing
there. Which is why a lot of clinics, like our own, run them in house and also send them to a lab
such as Idexx to have them run a more complete test there. A culture is a specific test to find and
identify organisms such as bacteriaor fungus, that can cause an infection. A sensitivity test is a
specific test that checks the results of a culture to see what kind of medicine, commonly
antibiotics, that will work best to treat those organisms. A culture is made when a sample is
added to a substance, or Media that promotes the growth of fungus, bacteria, or whatever it is you
are looking for. There are different types of media for different types of tests, but the most
common type of plate is called an AGAR plate, which is made up of a nutrient substance gel derived

Umbilical Cord Blood
There are so many people in this world today that are diagnosed with blood disorders, and other
cancerous diseases. Along these terrible diseases comes a long, painful journey of treatments, like
bone marrow transplants. But, bone marrow transplants aren t the only transplants in this world
now. In the outstanding findings of 1980 an estimation of more than 130 million infants are born,
and umbilical cord blood (UCB) is known to be the most abundant reservoir of hematopoietic cells
for many clinical applications. (Waller Wise R.)

enough hematopoietic stem cells in one unit. This is why scientists and clinical trials are doing
their best to come up with a way to double the unit so adults are able to use it, and not just
adolescence. Scientists are also still studying more ways to treat diseases with cord blood. At
Duke University, for example, researchers are using patients own cord blood in trials for cerebral
palsy and Hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy (a condition in which the brain does not receive
enough oxygen). Trials are also under way for the treatment of autism at the Sutter Neuroscience
Institute in Sacramento, California. Also, according to the New England Journal of Medicine,
cord blood is still better than marrow transplantations after studies were done. The adult patients
in the trial had advanced leukemia, and were then give a bone marrow transplant, but recovery
was slower because they weren t matched. On the other hand, the leukemia patients that were

Policy Issues for Improving Monitoring and Evaluation of Agricultural Programmes
To improve monitoring and evaluation of agricultural programmes in Nigeria, the following policy
issues must be addressed. The questions of what should be monitored or evaluated, when should
monitoring / evaluation be carried out, who should monitor/evaluate and the methodology to be
adopted in any project and the tools for monitoring and evaluation should be included in any
agricultural programmes/policy.
When should monitoring / evaluation be carried out?
Monitoring and Evaluation should be integrated into every activity of the agricultural
programmes. It is essential to develop and establish a habit of doing casual evaluation of the
highest possible quality for almost all processes and products involved in the various segments of
the programme. The time for monitoring and evaluation should be well budget and made part and
parcel of the programme planning process. Systematic evaluation usually requires a greater
expenditure of resources than normal and hence, it should be done when the resources are available
and the use of such evaluation justifies the cost. Most agricultural programmes in Nigeria lack this
important aspect. This is not well stated in most projects/programmes. The few that carried out
monitoring activities do so when they feel like. When proper monitoring / evaluation are carried out
as at when due, it helps in improving the programme.
What should be monitored or

saw improvements as the days progressed. I noticed that I wouldn t get distracted during class

Functionalist Theory On Gambling
If the functionalist theory explains why the percentage of women aged 45 64 who are problem
gamblers has increased since 1998, then that would mean women aged 45 64 are discontent with
society or feel unable to reach the goals and means set up by society. Gambling, in this case being
their harmless expression to their current circumstance. A theory would be that women aged 45 64
are a lot more stressed out by society or circumstances than they were during 1998, which leads to
the deviance, in this case gambling, which works as the response to not being able to cope with the
stress and expectations put up by society.
One possible reason as to why women are more stressed and have higher expectations today is
that more women are working today than in 1998. As women start focusing on their careers they
are still expected to do household work, as a stay at home wife would. Figure 1 which ... Show more

while majority of the female problem gamblers claimed they had good psychological health. One
argument could be that the problem gamblers use gambling to deal with their stress, so they feel
like they have a good psychological health. However, if applying the functionalist theory this
argument would be weak since the functionalist theory says that the act of deviance is a sign that
the person is discontent with something, or unable to reach the goals set up to society. If the
functionalist theory was correct, that women are under more stress leading them to gamble more,
then they would state that there psychological health is poor, because they would be discontent

themselves, and some of them may not want to admit how they really are doing

What Changes That Life Insurance Companies Will Face...
This report provides an analysis and illustration on the important changes that life insurance
companies will face in capital management practices with the implement of the new capital regime,
publicly known as Life Insurance Capital Adequacy Test (LICAT). The LICAT framework
transformed to a risk based regime from the current model based Minimum Continuing Capital and
Surplus Requirements (MCCSR).
The Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI) has published the finalized
guideline of LICAT to be effective in 2018. The new prudential framework represents an evolution
in OSFI s regulatory expectation in capital management; it introduces material changes in the
behavior of the capital metric and the assessment of the financial conditions to better characterize
each company s risk profiles. As a result, companies need to alter their investment strategies to
accommodate the changes.

Soundtrack To Music Research Paper
Why music is the soundtrack to life
Music is interpreted differently from around the world but to me, music is motivational and
inspiring. It s a way to express emotions and a language that cannot be put into words. Music
creates an avenue for empathy and a new understanding and it is part of my lifestyle. Music always
gives you company when you are bored or in the shower. It gives a meaning and purpose to life.
Music is important because it is the key to creativity.
Many creative geniuses such as Mozart and Albert Einstein showed us that listening to and creating
music, exercises one s creativity and intellect because it requires maximum right brain usage. Music
also brings people together whether it is a celebration or a formal occasion. ... Show more content

In recent tests scientists found that music could reduce the perceived intensity of pain. It can
also ease stress before and after a patient has surgery. This is why many hospitals use musical
therapy. Music can additionally have good effects on your mood such as relieving stress,
reducing symptoms of anxiety and depression, and elevating your mood. It can help in high
stress situations such as exams and give you a better cognitive performance. When you go to the
gym you will find that there is music playing and this is usually because it improves running and
biking motivation and increases workout endurance. Additionally it can help your body recover
faster after exercising. This is because it enhances your blood vessel function. Other positive
outcomes of music can include better memory, helping people eat less and improved sleep quality.
As well as positive physical effects there are also positive emotional and mental effects of music.
One of the most famous ones is the Mozart effect. If somebody listens to Mozart s music they may
likely have a short improvement on spatial temporal reasoning. Spatial temporal reasoning is the
ability to visualize the instruments played in a song and the musical notation.
In conclusion, music is an important motivation for creativity and inspiration. It is a way we can
express ourselves without having to say anything, it is a hobby or a pastime.

The Importance Of Karma In Jainism
Karma, in Jainism, is physical matter or (ajiva) that are attracted to the soul by its actions. This
karma then obscures the purity of the soul making it difficult for an individual to achieve
liberation or (moksha). In this religion, the complexity of karma is understood to have an effect in
both the physical sense as well as in the spiritual realm. It is believed that one cannot fully liberate
from samsara unless the soulis cleansed of all karma, dark or light. Because achieving moksha is
no easy feat, many souls continue to endure samsara by accumulating more karma. To stop the
continuous accumulation of karma and achieve moksha, one must allow the soul to endure a
journey of extreme asceticism. Though many souls are not able to embark on this journey, all
Jains make five ethical vows which include ahimsa, satya, asteya, brahmacharya, and aparigraha.
Through austere practices of self discipline, those that desire to reach moksha must follow three
main principles, ahimsa, anekantavada, and aparigraha. Following these principles allows one s
soul to rid of all physical evils and eventually detach from the body to unite with other perfected
souls in Siddha Loka or the World of Saints . Avoiding Karma in Jainism
is an autonomous quest
done through intense altruism, self restraint and patience. Ahisma meaning non violence is one of
the fundamental principles of Jainism that individuals practice to avoid karma. This is the belief
that one should not harm any form of

Dishonest In The Workplace At Panera Bread
In today s society, people can be dishonest and cheat their way through life. Working in
anywhere, your bosses and coworkers have to gain your trust. For over a year now, I work at
Panera Bread. We are always hiring new staff throughout spring and summer. People come and
go for stealing food or not treating customers with respect. Until recently, one of my managers
experienced embezzlement. My manager is sending her child off to college and taking care of
the rest of her family, which is a big expense. Someone apart of our staff stole three hundred
dollars from her purse. She lost her whole paycheck that she had earned. Everyone was not sure
who to trust or rely on anymore. No one was honest and confessed they did it. I doubted the integrity

Colonial Canadian Shakespeare

Colonial Canadian Shakespeare: West Meets East at Stratford
In his essay The Regional Theatre System , Czarnecki picks up on the challenge of creating a
national theatre in Canada, but also articulates the central and defining challenge in developing a
unified sense of Canadian identity; Canada, because of its immense span from ocean to ocean, is
inevitably divided into regions distinct from their provincial boundaries. The regional boundaries
which identify the Maritimes as distinct from French Canada and the Prairies as distinct from the
West Coast, for example, imply not only geographical, but also social, cultural and political
differences between these regions. Because Canada is a nation born from British imperialism, ...

This distance between my Western identity and Canada s colonial history was further exaggerated
because I was a French immersion student: my teachers, who were almost all from Quebec, taught
the Quebec curriculum which strongly emphasized the history of la
Nouvelle France with limited mention of Britain s imperial role in early Canada. This emphasis on
Quebec culture and la francophonie left me fluently bilingual and with a fondness for Quebec, but
compounded my Western alienation because British history was under represented. Because of
Calgary s municipal focus on newness and innovation, as opposed to what was perceived as the
Central Canadian emphasis on tradition and history, Shakespeare was read in high school as a
necessary evil, rather than as an iconic part of our Canadian colonial heritage. After all, Alberta and
the other Western provinces, with the exception of British Columbia, did not even join
Confederation until
1905, making my Canadian history much shorter than that of Central Canada, Eastern
Canada or the Maritimes. My deeply rooted regional identity as a Western Canadian complicated
not only my relationship with Britain and Central Canada, but also complicated my relationship to
Shakespeare as a product of this distant mother country .

Light Rail In Houston Essay
The light rail, also knows as the Metrorail, is an easy way to access many attractions in the
metropolitan area of Houston. Attractions like the museums, medical center, Downtown, and
stadiums. However, it still goes through neighborhoods. The rail is mainly located in Downtown
Houston, but extends to norther part of Houston to the south side of Houston. It also extends itself
towards the University of Houstoninto the third ward area, but it main route starts from Airline on
the northern part of Houston all the way to Fannin, in the southern side of Houston. The main use
of the rail is it transportation for those who do not have a vehicle and cannot get to important
location like the courts located in downtown, or main hospitals who are also located downtown as
well. For this community investigation we were asked to do a scavenger hunt. Frankly I was not
such a fan of this community... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nevertheless, these metro transportations have a time on their own, and if you do not arrive on
time it will leave you behind and must wait till the next on. For those students who depend on this
transportation, this is crucial because metros do run on their schedule and cannot wait on no one
because they have to keep going. As a teacher I am going to have to understand these type of
situations for students. Students may arrive late to class, or for those students who live far have to
spend most of their afternoon trying to arrive have, and not having enough time to do homework.
Another issue that can come in between if days were teachers must talk to parents. If parents do not
have no other transportation, then the metro they have to go through the same struggle. It also
because a huge struggle if the parents has infants with them. These transportations are very hard to
handle with younger children making sure everyone is on and get off at the same

  • 2. How Tap Portugal Changed The World As there are various state owned flag carrier, TAP is one of them. TAP Portugal has been the pride of many Portuguese people throughout the world. TAP is not only the national carrier, but also the vehicle of transportation that brings one to the home country. TAP Portugal like various airlines throughout the world, has suffered immensely for survival in such a competitive market throughout the years. With 61 years of existence, TAP s history is quite extensive. TAP Portugal was not the first airlinein Portugal. On 14 March 1945, Humberto Delgado, creates Secção de Transportes AГ©reos (Air Transport Section), what is known today as TAP Portugal. (Tap s History, 2016) That same year, TAP Portugal acquires two Dakota DC 3, leftovers from the World War II. (Coutinho Rocha, 2013) He saw the need of connecting the Portuguese colonies, Angola, Mozambique to Portugal. In 1946, after acquiring the two aircrafts TAP Portugal could then launch two routes. The first commercial Lisbon Madrid service began on 19 September 1946, while on 31 December, the Imperial Airline was launched, flying between Lisbon, Luanda [Angola], and LourenГ§o Marques [Mozambique], a return journey of 24,540 kilometers that took a total of 15 days and included 12 stopovers. (Tap s History, 2016) This was the beginning of TAP Portugal. Throughout the years, TAP began expanding their routes. In 1950 s, the jet engine would ultimately revolutionize the airline industry, shrinking air travel time in half by enabling planes to climb faster and fly higher. (First Jet makes test flight, 2010) With the innovation of jet engines that meant TAP could now fly longer routes, and unite farther old colonies to the homeland. That same year [1955] Admiral Gago Coutinho made a test flight to Rio de Janeiro. (Tap s History, 2016) However, before jet engines came to TAP, it would suffer some changes. TAP ... If not, the company will be facing survival risk. There are no mercy and exception for Cox s Container Company ( CCC ). CCC faced increasing competitions over the past 5 years and profits are in declining trends due to reduce in margins. Harold Cox was clueless on how to rectify the problems. He has delegated the task to Erica Wilson to review CCC s operations and oversee organization changes. • 4. A Brief Biography On The State Of Education A Brief Biography It is interesting to note that one of the most influential educators and researchers of all time was rejected for a professorship position because she was a woman and because she was overqualified (Fraenkel). Much to the benefit of present day curriculum development, the job rejection landed her in a series of positions that would eventually lead to her work with the U.S. Office of Education. Described as a short, squat, and spunky woman, Hilda Taba was notorious for her matter of fact, no nonsense approach in dealing with people (Krull, 481). Born in Estonia, in 1902, she received a German education, and then went on to study in the United States. The combination and the contrast of her two educations would later play an integral role in the formation of her curriculum ideals. Furthermore, her background in science contributed greatly to her scientific model of curriculum development (Hayes, 15). Taba worked closely with some of the most influential curriculum researchers and theorist of the 21st Century, including Benjamin Bloom, Ralph Tyler and John Dewey (Costa, Loveall, 57). In fact, many historical surveys regarding leaders of curriculum development and progressive education commonly refer to Taba as a disciple of Dewey. Learning and Curriculum Over the course of her career, Taba developed many theories regarding learning. In her seminal book, Curriculum Development Theory and Practice (1962), Taba defined knowledge and classified it into three ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. The Weimar Government And The Causes Of The Weimar Republic While war reparations rocked the Weimar Republic, debt wracked the farmers in the French Republic, leading to dissent and disillusionment amongst the citizens. In this period of instability, the inability of the republics to propose legislation without dissent opened way for new leaders taking advantage of the situation, promising a more unified and better society. With the fall of major monarchies, both France and Germany strived to create representative governments that listened to the needs of the people. However, that did not work out as intended, with the government focusing more on the upper class rather than the peasants that made up the majority of the fledgling republic s population. For example, the Constitution of 1793, advocated by Maximilien Robespierre, granted universal suffrage for men. Even with the increased rights for the people, the government did not ratify legislation that appealed to the majority of the population, the peasants. Instead, legislation that abolished property requirements for farmers, de christianized society, and created a republic calendar did not appeal to the farmers swimming in debt with a lack of food on the table (Tocqueville). As a result, the new republic enabled the common people to voice out against them, rather than for them. After a few centuries, the Weimar Republicfaced a similar situation. With much of the country disillusioned after their loss in World War I , the citizens looked towards the new Weimar Republic for a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He opposes the Marxist value that humans are superior to their animal counterparts, rather, he holds, humans are quite like wolves to each other. With this claim, he explores how internal compositions work in the grand scheme, to create a working mechanism of society that tames and creates internal negotiations of behaviour and instinct. (also include what comes of the last question) Freud, a psychologist, had views that were at odds with Marxist values, derived from a philosopher and economist. Their views on what drives human nature are fundamentally different. Freud adhered to the belief that humans are enslaved by their instinctive forces. This is to say that humans are driven to seek out pleasure. Marx, on the other hand, believed that humans are motivated by their place in society through labour. His core value was the division of labor, and how it structures society. Freud understood man in a Darwinian sense, that man comes from natural selection, in the sense that Darwin insisted on its [homo sapiens] kinship with lesser cousins and observed that the stamp of [its] lowly origin was quite ineffaceable (12). This contrasts with the Marxist assumption that humans are different from animals, the belief in human exceptionalism. Under this presumption, Marx finds that abuse and violence occurs in consequence to disproportionate distributions ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Research Paper On Glossophobia Glossophobia a fear of public speaking is pretty common amongst people. Almost everyone suffers from the fear of not performing well in front of others, at least to some degree. It is only natural to feel scared because humans are wired to be concerned about what others think about us. We get a sense of importance when we know other people admire and acknowledge the work that we do. A perfect example of this is how and why we post the coolest things we do on Facebook. We post things to please the audience of our posts. Or another way to put it, we post on Facebook because we seek the validation of people viewing our Facebook profiles. This does not necessarily build our confidence, but it simply goes to show that we all care about what everyone else thinks about us, and that is not necessarily a negative quality. • 13. Psychology Assumptions We all hold assumptions about the world and how it works. These assumptions frame our understanding of God, ourselves, others, and life and how to be successful in life. These assumptions affect our understanding and interpretation of facts and of events that occur in our lives. As Aristotle said, It s not the facts that divide men, but the interpretation of the facts (as cited in Hummel, 1986, p. 23). Our assumptions are acquired, often unconsciously or uncritically, by our own experiences and by what we have been taught about life by others. They become a lens by which we view reality. Entwistle (2010) writes that, the world is seen through the lenses of our assumptions (p. 134). If the lens is distorted, our view of reality will be distorted.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The physical sciences have a more objective means of measuring and testing subjects. What is the temperature of the sun? What is the value of the proton mass? What is the structure of a DNA molecule? These all have physical proper ties that can be measured and tested. Psychology is more subjective than the physical sciences and therefore more open to interpretation. Myers (2014) understands psychology as a science that seeks to answer such questions about us all how and why we think, feel, and act as we do (p. 1). Questions such as, Who are we? What produces our thoughts? Our feelings? Our actions? And how are we to understand and manage those around us? (Myers, 2014, p. 2). Answers to questions like these are profoundly affected by our presuppositions. For example, if I believe that people are inherently good and not affected by sin, I m going to answer these questions a certain way. If I believe that people are created in the image of God, but fallen and being redeemed, I m going to answer them differently. How I respond to people and circumstances will also be different. So examining and understanding my own presuppositions as well as those of the theorists I am studying is important if I am going to be more objective and discover the ... Literature Review For the purpose of this review, the following section has been broken down into the following three areas: 1.1What are the origins of impression management? 1.2How is impression management applied in corporate reporting? 1.3Why is impression management used as a means of corporate communication? Each area will look to assimilate the key items of literature from relevant and appropriate sources surrounding the fundamental theories and practices of impression management. In doing so, this review will form the required basis to critically evaluate both the use of impression management in the context of the 2016 EU Referendum as well as the overall ethicality of the practice. 1.1 What are the origins of impression ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Of the taxonomies and methodologies reviewed, four key perspectives on impression management stand out: Economic, Psychological, Sociological and Critical. Combined, these perspectives of impression management have defined the majority of academic research undertaken by scholars and organisations alike (Brennan, Vourvachis, Merkl Davies, 2013). In doing so, they have aligned several other noteworthy concepts which underpin impression management including legitimacy, signalling, agency, institutional and stakeholder theories. Conclusively, it is clear that impression management in practice allows for many opportunities of manipulation not so dissimilar to Goffman s actor vs. audience analogy. And while this manipulation itself could be seen to some as encouraging acts of sophism, to others it provides a useful methodology of communicating potentially sensitive items to audiences of an increasingly volatility . 1.2 How is impression management applied in corporate reporting? • 15. Persepolis Gender Analysis In American Born Chinese and in Persepolis, both protagonists hate their nationality and wish they were normal. Being a minority can be difficult at times. Sometimes, minorities are looked down upon and just wish that they could be normal like the rest of the people they are surrounded by. In Persepolis, Satrapi was asked what race she was and lied in response to gain others respect and to be seen as an equal. In the graphic novel, the panel used at this time shows tense emotions by the action lines seen and the facial expressions. When she lies, the entire background is black and she looks sad. Satrapi does not maintain eye contact when she lied because she was embarrassed and knew she made a mistake. With the gutters between the scenes, we can assume how she is feeling after lying. Occasionally, ignorant people will assume that you are just like your race. In Satrapi s case, people would see her as a terrorist. Satrapi lied so that the boy she liked would view her as a normal person, not just some terrorist. In American Born Chinese, Jin Wang also denied his nationality to be seen as normal by society. When Wang was introduced to class, a boy made a joke saying, Don t you people eat dogs? . Racism due to being a minority can affect how much one wants to express their culture. If people are intolerant of others, they have a tendency to hide their culture. Wang was also classmates with a another Asian girl, which he never talked to because his classmates would make racist jokes about arranged marriages. When another Asian boy was introduced to the class, Wang wanted to hit him because he fit the stereotypes of the Asian culture. He was depicted wearing glasses, dressing in horrendous clothing, having an accent, and having squinty eyes. Wang did not want to associate with the new kid. Explain the factors which make it difficult to amend the US Constitution (15 marks) To amend the US Constitution, a bill has to go through a two stage process: proposal and ratification. The proposal stage has to have two thirds majority in both the House of Representatives and the Senate. Every successful amendment has started this way and even the failed ones. A proposal can also be made by a Constitutional convention, which is a one off body which is put together for a specific purpose, and this is called by Congress on petition by two thirds of the states. This method has never been used. The problem with this proposal method is that the Constitution doesn t state how it should be done and there is no mechanism. There are,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, there are implications for ratification. Thirty eight states are needed for ratification. The problem with this is that there are huge variations in political culture of states the South is known to be Conservative, North East or West Coast is known to be liberal/Cosmopolitan, North is known to be urban and industrial and the Midwest is known to be rural and agricultural. Therefore, with the differences in political culture, there are demands for a nationwide consensus which can prove difficult. An example of this was the Equal Rights Act which failed to pass the ratification stage as it was 3 states shy of the 38 needed to pass the ratification stage. It was argued that there was already the 14th Amendment which states the Equal Opportunities Act. But the Equal Rights Act failed because it ran out of time there was a 7 year time limit and it took 10 years. The amendment process takes place contemporaneously, meaning it is based on issues happening at the moment. There was also an economic factor which was said to prevent this Act from passing. Big businesses would have had to pay out more to ensure both male and females received equal pay. Often these corporate companies would have connections to politicians themselves, to oppose the Act because the businesses had access to them and pressure groups did not. The pressure ... The Department of Homeland Security DHS was formed after the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. Before the attacks, independent agencies handled homeland security. The DHS was formed to have most of these agencies work together under one management to secure America. This paper will argue the role of DHS and its political environment and how it achieves its goals of protecting America by working within its current environment. The political environment of DHS is Majoritarian where both the benefits and the costs are spread over most or all of the population and the agency is able to perform in that certain environment. Agency: The creation of DHS was the result of the tragic events of 9/11. The department was formed in 2002 and is a combination of twenty two agencies. Some of the prominent ones are, The Transportation Security Administration (TSA), U.S. Secret Service, U.S. Coast Guard, and the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS). The President of United States appoints the secretary to oversee the work of DHS. The Political Environment and the Distribution of Costs and Benefits: Homeland Security is a highly decentralized activity The Federal Government cannot do the job of securing America by itself. • 23. Pathophysiology Of Celiac Disease Of Gluten, Wheat,... PATHOPHYSIOLOGY Celiac disease is an enteropathy mediated by an autoimmune response to gluten, a protein complex found in the endosperm of wheat, barley, and rye.1 The immune response is triggered by both environmental and genetic factors in individuals susceptible to the disease resulting in elevated levels of immunoglobulin A (IgA) antibodies to tissue transglutaminase (tTG), duodenal mucosal villi atrophy, and the inability of tight junctions to properly act as a barrier between the gastrointestinal tract and the systemic portion of the body.1 Environmental Factors Consumption of gluten is the root cause of the autoimmune response that initiates the cascade of reactions in the body. Gluten proteins can be fractionated into gliadin and glutenin, which are the environmental factors that trigger the immune response in the small intestine.2 These protein molecule complexes are normally unable to permeate the intestinal epithelial. However, with celiac disease, the integrity of tight junctions is compromised, allowing the protein complex to breach the intestinal lining. The regulatory intestinal peptide zonulin is thought to be responsible for the weakened state of tight junctions.2 Genetic Factors Human leukocyte antigens (HLA) class II genes are recognized as the primary genetic predisposition for celiac disease.3 Patients who are carriers of the HLA DQ2 allele account for 95% of confirmed celiac disease cases.4 The majority of the remaining population with the disease are ... OBJECTIVE The purpose of this module is to investigate hydrostatic forces on a plane surface under partial and full submersion. 2 2. DESCRIPTION The apparatus shown in Figure 1 will be used. It consists of a quarter circle block attached to a cantilevered arm with a rectangular surface on the other end. The pivot point on the arm corresponds to the center of radius of the block. With no water in the tank, and no weights on the scale, the arm is horizontal. As weights are added one by one to the scales, water can be added to the tank so that the hydrostatic force balances the weights and bring the arm back to horizontal. 3 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Note on your table when the plane surface is no longer fully submerged. 6 4. RESULTS ANALYSIS 1) Derive equations for the mass (Mtheoretical) that balances the hydrostatic force for the partially submerged case. (i.e. h less than a) Mtheoretical = f(a, b, g, k, h, L, Оіw) 2) Derive equations for the mass (Mtheoretical) that balances the hydrostatic force for the fully submerged case. (i.e. h greater than a) Mtheoretical = f(a, b, g, k, h, L, Оіw) 3) Compute Mtheoretical for each value of h you measured. Tabulate h, Mactual, Mtheoretical, and other data you obtained. 4) Plot Mactual vs h and Mtheoretical vs h on the same graph (h on the x axis.) What does the shape of the graph indicate about the hydrostatic force for each case (partially and fully submerged)? 5) Plot Mactual vs Mtheoretical . 7 5. DISCUSSION 1) Compare and discuss actual and theoretical results. Are they similar? If there is any discrepancy, what are possible sources of error? 2) State qualitatively why an incremental change in mass (i.e. 50 g) for the fully submerged case results in a different change in height, О”h, than the same incremental change in mass for the

The Importance Of Sports And Politics In Sports In recent years, America has seen a rise in police shootings of black men and women, as well as a response from the black community protesting against the injustice being brought upon their race. How exactly does this fit into the NFL? In the past, sports were sports and politics were politics, but since the civil rights era there has been an increase of politics in sports. From Tommie Smith and John Carlos in the 1968 Olympics to the present day Kaepernick wave of players kneeling during the anthem, many are on their side, many are confused, and many are enraged. Kneeling brought to light how black and white the issue is racially, the politics behind it, and how protests like these can help the black and other minority communities. While calling NFL players unpatriotic may be easy, one must first try to understand the mentality of these black athletes before attacking them for going against your own beliefs. Kaepernick started his protests Aug 14th, 2016 by sitting on the bench for three preseason games straight. It sparked controversy after a reporter posted a picture of the anthem, not specifically of Kaepernick. When asked why he sat for the anthem, Kaepernick stated that he s going to continue to stand with the people that are being oppressed...When there s significant change and [he feels] that flag represents what it s supposed to represent, and this country is representing people the way that it s supposed to, [he ll] stand. So it would depend on the person on what they think about the world since everyone is different. It is what you believe of what you have heard and would take it to heart of what you believe. For example in the book called Finding Your Worldview: Thinking Christianly about the World, it gives an example of different color lens. When you give others a different color lens each of them is going to be seeing it differently and that is how Worldview works and it would impact your life when you would respond to issues in the world. A worldview would feed off a person that would base every action, opinion and a response that they would see in the world. So since the world is built around their life, they would share what they have seen and experienced. People always wonder how life began or mankind comes into existence and it is hard for someone to explain what you believe by just saying what you think is right. It tells and shows God creating the heavens and the earth in the beginning. (Genesis 1:1). In the bible, God created the world in six days and rested on the seventh day. (Genesis 2:1 3) Christians believe that God created us in His own image. (Genesis 1:27) God made us to be like Him; of course we are not nearly perfect as God. The Principles of Scientific Management was first published in the early 20th century. Through his work, Frederick W. Taylor described that the process of scientific management can increase total worker organizational efficiency. The theory of scientific management was not invented by one day. It took many times for Frederick W. He worked there several years recognized some of the process of the factory operation. He realized, at that time the management had no clear knowledge of working responsibilities or management responsibilities. There wasn t any organized or structured work standard. The managers were taking their decision with guess, past experience, intuition which in many time resulted in failure. The workers efficiency level didn t grow. Frederick w. Although the context of Loveis set up in the mythological sense, Socrates speech transcends the topic from merely describing the goddess powers to separating her as an entity from the actions and emotions that go along with the conception of loving : I think you saw Love as the object of love instead of the lover (Plato, 40, 204b). The goal of going through these steps is to find this essential idea of beauty so that, in this divine sense, one can see love everywhere. Love therefore, is shown in the mythological realm, but also as an abstract conception of the emotions and actions that Love spurs within humans for the desire to search out and attain beauty. Socrates touches on the idea of what it means to love another person, and how to find absolute beauty in this pursuit. The Fire Next Time emphasizes love in the communal sense and how when facing extreme hatred, love can bring the marginalized together. Baldwin s text is heavily concentrated on the prejudicial attitudes towards the African Americans by the Americans during the early 1960 s. The racism described in this text is stressed by the violent actions towards and the overall dehumanization of the African Americans. However, the hatred towards their race encourages the group to love each other more: if we had not loved each other none of us would have survived (Baldwin, 7). • 35. Dissent In The Civil Rights Movement On January 21, 2017, an estimated 500,000 Americans marched on the National Mall, continuing a longstanding tradition of protest on this public space. On this particular day, protesters sought to send a message to President Donald Trump regarding women s rights. Known as the Women s March, this event is only one of the more recent examples of large scale protest and dissent on the National Mall. Throughout American history, protest movements have often made their way to Washington, D.C., the capital city and political center of the United States. [and] made the Mall the nation s premier setting for political assembly and protest. More simply, protestors used the glorified sense of union promoted on the Mall to push forward their political dissent. This principle is particularly relevant in understanding the Civil Rights Movement s utilization of the National Mall. In August 1963, Martin Luther King Jr. and other civil rights leaders planned a prayer pilgrimage to the Lincoln Memorial, where King delivered his most famous speech on its steps. King s choice to deliver his speech at this memorial was undeniably deliberate. Abolitionist President Lincoln led the United States through the Civil War and gained a reputation as the man who ended slavery. King s speech, delivered at the memorial that honored that man, outlined the principles of racial equality focusing on many of the shortcomings in American society. King s choice of venue suggested that although the Lincoln Memorial celebrated equality in principle, the United States had a long way to go regarding this issue. This demonstration s use of a feature on the National Mall demonstrated the hypocrisy of it, as the public space honored a doctrine that was not universally practiced in everyday American life. This march was one of the first of its kind, but it was certainly not the last. The only way this can be done is by running a culture and sensitivity test. • 47. The Importance Of Karma In Jainism Karma, in Jainism, is physical matter or (ajiva) that are attracted to the soul by its actions. This karma then obscures the purity of the soul making it difficult for an individual to achieve liberation or (moksha). In this religion, the complexity of karma is understood to have an effect in both the physical sense as well as in the spiritual realm. It is believed that one cannot fully liberate from samsara unless the soulis cleansed of all karma, dark or light. Because achieving moksha is no easy feat, many souls continue to endure samsara by accumulating more karma. To stop the continuous accumulation of karma and achieve moksha, one must allow the soul to endure a journey of extreme asceticism. Though many souls are not able to embark on this journey, all Jains make five ethical vows which include ahimsa, satya, asteya, brahmacharya, and aparigraha. Through austere practices of self discipline, those that desire to reach moksha must follow three main principles, ahimsa, anekantavada, and aparigraha. Following these principles allows one s soul to rid of all physical evils and eventually detach from the body to unite with other perfected souls in Siddha Loka or the World of Saints . Ahisma meaning non violence is one of the fundamental principles of Jainism that individuals practice to avoid karma. This is the belief that one should not harm any form of ... Working in anywhere, your bosses and coworkers have to gain your trust. For over a year now, I work at Panera Bread. We are always hiring new staff throughout spring and summer. People come and go for stealing food or not treating customers with respect. Until recently, one of my managers experienced embezzlement. My manager is sending her child off to college and taking care of the rest of her family, which is a big expense. Someone apart of our staff stole three hundred dollars from her purse. She lost her whole paycheck that she had earned. Everyone was not sure who to trust or rely on anymore. No one was honest and confessed they did it. I doubted the integrity ... • 49. Colonial Canadian Shakespeare 1 Colonial Canadian Shakespeare: West Meets East at Stratford In his essay The Regional Theatre System , Czarnecki picks up on the challenge of creating a national theatre in Canada, but also articulates the central and defining challenge in developing a unified sense of Canadian identity; Canada, because of its immense span from ocean to ocean, is inevitably divided into regions distinct from their provincial boundaries. The regional boundaries which identify the Maritimes as distinct from French Canada and the Prairies as distinct from the West Coast, for example, imply not only geographical, but also social, cultural and political differences between these regions. Because Canada is a nation born from British imperialism, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This distance between my Western identity and Canada s colonial history was further exaggerated because I was a French immersion student: my teachers, who were almost all from Quebec, taught the Quebec curriculum which strongly emphasized the history of la Nouvelle France with limited mention of Britain s imperial role in early Canada. This emphasis on Quebec culture and la francophonie left me fluently bilingual and with a fondness for Quebec, but compounded my Western alienation because British history was under represented. Because of Calgary s municipal focus on newness and innovation, as opposed to what was perceived as the Central Canadian emphasis on tradition and history, Shakespeare was read in high school as a necessary evil, rather than as an iconic part of our Canadian colonial heritage. After all, Alberta and the other Western provinces, with the exception of British Columbia, did not even join Confederation until 1905, making my Canadian history much shorter than that of Central Canada, Eastern Canada or the Maritimes. My deeply rooted regional identity as a Western Canadian complicated not only my relationship with Britain and Central Canada, but also complicated my relationship to Shakespeare as a product of this distant mother country . 4 The production of Hamlet1 that I saw ...
