Maxim De Winter
1A. Maxim de Winter is the deeply troubled owner of Manderley. He loves Manderley more than he
loves his first wife, Rebecca. In addition, Maxim despises being the center of talk and gossip. He is
also much older than his second wife.
B. Mr. de Winter, after showing her kindness, marries the narrator months after his first wife
supposedly drowned. In reality, he actually shot Rebecca and placed her body in her boat which he
then sunk in the bay.
C. Maxim s acts of kindness cause the narrator to fall in love with him. Throughout the novel he
encourages the new Mrs. de Winter to not be shy. Ultimately, his actions, from his reaction at the
fancy dress ball to murdering Rebecca and the subsequent aftermath, transform the narrator from an

In the beginning of the novel the narrator appears to be young girl who has recently finished
school. She is shy, uncertain, and quiet. The narrator seems to shy away from the spotlight when
first talking to Mr. de Winter. As she gets to know him a little bit she opens up and soon becomes
smitten for him. The narrator uncharacteristically takes a reckless chance and becomes the new
Mrs. de Winter. After having fun on the honeymoon, she becomes bashful and timid once she
arrives at Manderley. Mrs. Danvers even frightens her. She dislikes when people come to call,
and becomes extremely nervous before the big party. The strain of living in Rebecca s shadow
negatively impacts the narrator by making her more uncertain as she tries to follow in Rebecca s
footsteps. At the turning point in the novel Maxim confesses he murdered Rebecca and that he
never truly loved her at all. This sends Mrs. de Winter into shock. After what Maxim says finally
sinks in the narrator changes. She becomes hardened by the information but also gains courage
from the fact that Rebecca was a horrible person. Soon after even Mrs. Danvers and the ghost
Rebecca do little to faze her. The strain and stress of the resulting inquiry only strengths her. She
falls deeper in love with Maxim and finds inner purpose and courage. By the end of the novel the
narrator is a strong, experienced woman. Mrs. de Winter goes from shy to confident because of
Rebecca, her murder, and Maxim s love and

The Effect of Steriods in Major League Baseball Essay
Baseball is known as America s pastime and is one of the most popular, respected sports on earth.
Since the beginning of the sport, it seemingly advances with technology every year making faster
and stronger players. The use of steroids became rampant and spread among players and has
carried them away from the true history of the game they play. Controversy still today runs around
the sport today about fines, punishments and record breaking. The past two decades of Major
League Baseballhave been tainted because of the use of performance enhancing drugs, also known
as steroids, causing the loss of many fans and the true meaning of America s favorite sport.
In the early 80 s many professional players began to discover steroids, but Major ... Show more

A suspension from an entire season and thousands of dollars of fine were issued and that seemed
light with talks of being banned from baseball floating between the two parties. Major League
Baseball took the right direction in the situation making an example of this group of players and
especially Rodriguez (Quinn, Fish, and Gomez). This no tolerance policy could hopefully put a
stop to the use of steroid in this great sport and get the game back to its original form.
One of the most controversial subjects in Major League Baseball is that of hall of fame voting.
Players who have tested positive should not be eligible for the hall of fame ballot. This is a
great honor for players who are truly great and play the game the right way. The hall of fame has
no room for players who try to gain unfair advantages through performance enhancing drugs. One
of the greatest players of all time, Pete Rose, was denied from the Baseball Hall of Fame do
betting on his games. This shows how seriously the voters take being inducted. Players who have
tested positive for steroids should be banned from the hall of fame, which is what Major League
Baseball is moving toward. Another issue is players who have broken records and tested positive
for steroids during the period they broke the record. Although increased speed and arm strength
have also been linked to the use of steroids, home run statistics have glaringly

Larry Bird Essay
Many dream of becoming an all star. Having the movie like transformation from being a lowly,
small town boy and turning into a true legend. One of the few that lived this was Larry Bird.
Larry would grow from a small town boy in Indiana to transforming and becoming one of the
National Basketball Association s, or NBA s best players of all time. Through Larry Bird s early
life, his college years, his NBA glory and rivals, and his life post NBA all come into account when
understanding the greatness of this true NBA legend.
Larry Bird grew up young and poor in French Lick, Indiana, just outside of West Baden. He was
born on December 7, 1956 (1). Larry s family was poor, just like all of the other families in his
town (2). As one of six siblings, Larry had to compete and fight for everything he got. His original

and take the load off of him, so they acquired two post players, Kevin McHale and Robert
Parrish. With the trio of greatness, the Celtics easily surpassed anything that other teams tried to
throw at them, winning the title in the 1980 81 season (3). The Celtics acquired Dennis Johnson
after the 1982 season, a point guard that Larry liked. Dennis was the missing piece the Celtics
had been longing for. They had the post and wing talent, but they needed a ball handler. In the
1983 84 the Celtics faced a foe they hadn t seen in the finals before, the Los Angeles Lakers. The
Lakers team was jam packed with all star talent, but one in particular Larry had seen before. And
that person was Magic Johnson. The Celtics and Bird beat the Lakers and Magic that year, but

Snow Falling On Cedars Change
Change is the act or instance of making or becoming different. How does a person change? Is it
based on the individuals around them? Does the way a person is raised change him or her?
Throughout the novels of Great Expectations, Snow Falling on Cedars, To Kill a Mockingbird, and
the film David Copperfield, changecomes in many forms. People mirror the beliefs of those around
them.
People are obliged to do something they do not want to by those in control of them. In Snow
Falling on Cedars, a Japanese American girl named Hatsue is told by her family all her life to stay
away from the hakujin (white people). Hatsue and a boy named Ishmael were childhood friends
since the start, as they grew up, they started to become more intimate and closer. ... Show more

Clara looks for someone to help her take care of David and comes across Mr. Murdstone, an evil,

Clara does not want to see David sent off to boarding school. With Mr. Murdstone having control

Clara does not believe that David needs to go to boarding school, but since Mr. Murdstone has

Sonnet Two Annotations
The second sonnet continues the argument and plea from sonnet one. This time through the
imagery of military, winter, and commerce. Once again, time is the great enemy, besieging the
youth s brow, digging trenches in his face and ravaging his good looks. Beauty is conceived of as
a treasure that decays unless, through love, its natural increase. By marrying and having children
is made possible. The poet tries to scare the young man to marry and have children by showing
him his future. When he is forty years old he will be nothing but a tatter d weed, of small worth

The Book Control Officer On Ft Riley
As the Book Control Officer on Ft Riley, I am required to issue, receive and train officers and
their lower enlisted soldiers on how to maintain accountability for meal card books; which is a
control item. At one point the Meal Card Control Officer requested that he Meal Card Controllers
be giving a class on how to maintain accountability of control books. While giving the verbal block
of instructions no one asked any question. Once I completed the verbal portion of the class, a
demonstration of the process was also implemented in class. Afterward, I asked were there any
question; no question was asked. Therefore, I assumed that everyone was ready for the hand on a
portion of the class.
Therefore, I pared the soldiers, two by two; one was to issue the card and the other one was to
receive the card. However, they all fail miserably. They assumed that all army s forms are self
explanatory. Therefore, we did it together step by step. Each group was given the military form
(DA Form 4809) the issuer filed out block a, b, d and gave the form to the receiver for signature.
Upon signing the DA Form 4809 and the DD Form 714; which completed that transaction. The
second go around the receiver stated that they lost the card. Therefore, the issuer had to go to the
next line, fill out block c, d, have the receiver sign, make a copy of the DA Form 4809 and close
out the copied form then place it in the inactive folder. The original copy was to go to the next line

Discuss Why Scale And Resolution Are Important For Your...
Concepts and Philosophies
Discuss why scale and resolution are important for your dissertation research
Scale can be a confusing definition in geography with its multiple referents. Scale is about size,
either relative or absolute, and involves a fundamental set of issues in geography. Scale primarily
concerns space in geography. However, the domains of temporal and thematic scale are also
important to geographers. Temporal scale deals with the size of time units, thematic scale with the
grouping of entities or attributes such as people or weather variables. Whether spatial, temporal, or
thematic, scale in fact has several meanings in geography. (Montello, 2001) .The definition of

from soil sample to cantena to catchment or watershed. The problem with this is that
generalisations made at one level or scale does not always hold at other scales. Sampling can be
done at the regional scale with sampling the sediment load at mouth of river to estimate catchment
erosion.
Scale and resolution are very important for dissertation research as they help monitor the
environment via measuring cross sections with stratigraphic logging, this is not trying to control
realist but still interfering. An act of measurement is always considered an act of intervention.
There is less control over variables in final based experiments such as erosion plots, but still want
to replicate variability present in reality. However there are scaling issues strict scaling of materials
and forces cannot be applied. Experiments (laboratory and numerical) are the most extreme form of
intervention:
Selected variables and relations

Essay On Sanford Gragg
My great grandfather, Sanford Robert Gragg, was an extraordinary man. Although I never had the
privilege to meet him, the stories that have been told about his life urge me to learn more about
how he lived and the unique things he did during his life. My great grandfather did some pretty
amazing things during his life and some of the facts about his life astound me.
January 25, 1899, under Grandfather Mountain in North Carolina, Sanford was born. He was
the son of Luther Burgess Gragg and Mary Josephine Crump Chester. My pawpaw Gragg was a
farmer and raised all kinds of farm animals. He also loved to garden. Sanford went to an all boy s
school for farming in Asheville where he learned how to garden and work on a farm. Every
morning my great grandfather would have to build a fire to heat the school. He never learned how
to read and could not write much other than his own name. However, he was a very smart man.

He worked at a log company named Ritter Lumber Company for a few years. He then worked on

Sanford helped drive the train and would put coal in and keep the engine running. My great aunt,
Ruth Gragg, told me a story about when my pawpaw worked with trains, he took one of his sons
with him to work one day. He taught him how to work and drive the train. Then one day his son
took the train for a ride by himself without telling anyone. Tweetsie was not always used for
transportation of lumber and other goods. One day they decided to take the train and turn it into a
family friendly ride. They painted it and built a theme park to attract tourist. My great grandfather
called this train the donald duck train . After the railroad business, my great grandfather worked at

Taking a Look at Greece
Research Paper Greece
Greece is a thriving country, but if it wasn t for its beautiful islands, seas, and mountains, Greece
would not be as strong of a country today. All these factors have helped Greece grow as a country.
Throughout history, various mountains such as Mount Olympus and seas such as the
Mediterranean have played an important role in the development of Greece history and culture.
Greece is a country that is surrounded by mostly water, and the sea has played an important role in
its history ( Ancient Greek Colonization.. ). The ancient Greeks were often known to be called
seafarers looking for opportunities for trade and founding new coastal sites along the Mediterranean
sea. Trading stations were the furthest outposts of Greek culture. At these trading stations, Greek
goods, such as bronze, silver, olive oil, wine and pottery were exchanged for more luxurious items
( Ancient Greek Colonization.. ). Also, well established maritime routes around the Mediterranean
sea enabled foreigners to travel to Greece. After the military campaign of Alexander the Great, a
lot more intense trade routes were opened across Asia. These trade routes extended as far as
Afghanistan and the Indus River Valley ( Ancient Greek Colonization.. ). Not only did these trade
routes help with trading goods, it always helped in introducing Greece to new cultures and in
spreading Greek culture throughout Europe. The spread of these cultures can be known as cultural

Darkness Byron Distortion
The Darkness written by Lord Byron introduces the story by stating I had a dream which was not
all a dream (line 1). This indicates that Byron used illusion that is somewhat realistic to show
distortion; as a romantic poem, the introduction emphasizes escape to fictional world from reality.
Moreover, the entire poem prophesizes end of the world, which many people during the Romantic
Era considered that idea as a trend. The darkness, an entity that breaks the law of nature, is known
to bring the end or the world: did wander darkling in the eternal space (line 3). The negative
emotion of survival has tainted the whole poem, which emphasizes the author s emotion of his life
when he experienced separation of love ones or hardship throughout

Best Practices Of Managing Virtual Software Development Teams
Best practices in Managing Virtual Software Development Teams.
Introduction to Virtual Software Teams.
In this hard and fast run of Technology, handling software s efficiently in a defined area with
limited resources is a toughest challenge for any industry. Hence, virtual team emerged out as a
solution. The term virtual was driven out by the virtue in the 14th century but by 1950 s its
meaning extended to temporarily available or created or created by computer software . This gave
the actual definition of virtual teams as any project team in which the team members are
geographically dispersed and use technology to communicate or complete their goals . The trivial
way of handling teams contained many constraints and difficulties such as:
a.Geographic dispersion (occurring due to different geographical locations)
b.Temporal dispersion(Time difference in different time zones)
c.Cultural dispersion(Different languages )
d.Organizational dispersion(Different work ethics) Best practices in Managing Virtual Software
Development Teams:
Software development teams are always encouraged for healthy communication such as stand up
meetings, conferences and demo (if done according to agile) .but the toughest part is of the scrum
master or the group leader to confront all the challenges related to these and manage them
effectively.
These are the best practices which are popular today for Managing Virtual software development

Why Accountants Are Important For The Future Of...
Introduction
Accountants play a very pivotal role in the success of all businesses as they are deemed to be
foundation of business interactions (Malley, 2015). Being professional accountants they have
expertise which helps them provide quality service and advice on business matters. They increase
value of business by implementing accounting systems and rules required by any particular
business and area. Increased business profitability is another factor for which accountants are
important drivers as they provide cost effective measures and unique operating techniques.
Accounting is an old profession which has evolved significantly over time from manual
bookkeeping to complex accounting software (Caulfield, 2016). Accounting is mostly confused
with just data entry and reporting for which accounting software are available that can perform the
function much quicker and efficiently. Now a few questions do pop up in our minds as to what will
be the future of accountants with such technological advancements? How will accountants adapt
themselves with changing needs?
This report will shed light on above mentioned concerns and we will see later that future of
accountants is not really in danger. Accountants are normally mistaken with accounts preparation
on regular basis. Although they are specialized in doing that particular task but it does not mean
that this is the only task they perform as the ultimate purpose is to provide reliable information to
the management for critical

Music Programs In High Schools Essay
Music plays an important role in a student s academic success. Being a part of a music
organization gives students a place to belong and a place where they can express themselves. It
gives students the drive to do well in school, helps build social skills through teamwork, and
improves their focus level. In every school, there are students who do not like their core subject
classes. I have several in my choir program and the only reason they get out of bed to come to
school in the morning is so they can be in choir. Harris Interactive did a study in 2006 over
graduation rates and they found that high schools with a musicprogram had a graduation rate of
90% or greater. The national average graduation rate of those high schools that do not have a
music program is 73% (Zuckerman 3). I believe the schools that have music programs have a
higher graduation rate because students have a motivation to pass. As with other extracurricular
activities, choir students have to pass their classes in order to sing or participate. I pay very close
attention to my students grades as they influence whether or not they can participate in activities
such as UIL Concert and Sight Reading. While a student may not like math, they are willing to
work hard to get their grades up so they can participate in UIL or go on a... Show more content on

What Are Perception, Perspectives And Giants
Perception, Perspectives and Giants
An individual s perspective and perception become their reality. We spend so many hours of our
lifetime attempting to prove to others that we are correct about certain points or principles; perhaps
we have drawn conclusions based on limited information that is not always correct. Worldview,
culture, religion, family and many other factors influence our lives and the way that we think and
view things. In business, the best way to make decisions is a corporate mentality, getting input
from all of the key players involved. Individuals can develop tunnel vision and miss key points in

Now, when you ask most people, they think that David was a huge underdog, and the fact that he
killed the giant was a miracle. Almost no one thinks that David was a favorite to kill the giant.
This is a great example of perception and perspective.
Let s look at the facts in the story. Goliath was, in fact, a giant, that means that he suffered from
Gigantism, a rare condition that is almost always caused by a pituitary gland tumor located at
the base of the brain. He was older, already a well established champion on the field of hand to
hand combat. In the story, the point was made to let us know that Goliath despised David when he
saw that he was a healthy, handsome young boy. The main reason a person would despise these
attributes would be if they are not in good health, they are old, and not good looking.
Goliath must have been very slow when moving, his size, the weight of his armor and weapons,
his age, and probable health status, and the heat of wearing heavy armor for such a large man
must have been tiring. There s a good chance by his statement, Come down to me., and his
gigantism that his eyesight may have been poor. He also made reference to sticks when David
only had one which may have been a hint that the giant was seeing double. The other odd fact was
that a shield bearer led out in front of the giant, why didn t he carry his own shield into battle? It
seems as though Goliath would not have any chance unless David got close enough for the Giant to
battle him in hand to hand

Statement Of Purpose For Cryptography
An algorithm that resists brute force will never become obsolete, no matter how powerful code
breaking computers get. It would become a world standard overnight. This quote from Dan Brown
s Digital Fortress caught my imagination in high school, and from that point onwards, I knew that
this is what I wanted to do. I wanted to become a research scientist, who would decipher such
algorithms, even more so break a cipher claimed to be perfect. Since then I have been studying
cryptography, which led to a tendency of seeing patterns and codes in my daily activities. Routine
activities such as reading a letter or looking at a sign, trigger connections in my mind. I have
always enjoyed reading theorems and understanding their proofs. My interest in cryptography
further burgeoned since every protocol, or algorithm... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Identify the stages of a series of counselling sessions...
1 .1 Identify the stages of a series of counselling sessions The beginning The beginning of the
counselling process starts when the client first meets the counsellor, the saying first impressions
count is absolutely true for both the client and counsellor, the client will be very nervous and
unsure what is about to take place. The way the counsellor approaches the client in this infant stage
is vital for the client to gain trust and has the willingness to open up in later sessions. Some clients
may just rush into what is troubling them or say nothing, in both cases the counsellor will need to
be patient, observe and listen to what is being said as there will be vital information given and

1.2 Evaluate the importance of an appropriate opening of a series of sessions In my opinion the
beginning of the counselling session is one of the most important stage of the process, the client
will be very nervous and will not fully trust the process they are about to embark on, their
unknown journey they will be nervous. The Client may hold back what they are feeling until they
have gained the trust of the counsellor, and know they are safe and in a confidential environment.
Another important factor in the opening stage is to draw up a contract and discuss the content with
the client, this will demonstrate it s a working relationship and both the client and counsellor will
know their barriers, it also gives structure and prevents any misunderstanding in the relationship.
By having a contract it demonstrates to the client they are safe and able to speak freely also it
shows the client that each session if totally confidential, there are exceptions to the rule and these
will be included in the contract and what the process will be if they disclose anything that is
unlawful. Having unconditional positive regard from the beginning will display to the client there
is no hidden agenda and that the counsellor is non judgmental, this will support the client to
develop the working relationship and show the client they are valued and wanted, they will start to
relax to open up freely and loosen up their attitude towards the session. 1.3

Problems In What s Eating Gilbert Grape
After watching What s Eating Gilbert Grape it s clear that Gilbert has a lot of problems and
things on his mind at all times. Most of Gilbert s problems come from his family. So this begs the
question, who or what exactly is eating Gilbert Grape?
To start, the least significant of Gilbert s problems was his sister Amy. At the start of the movie
Gilbert says Amy was their mother, since she made all of the meals and took care of the family.

There are several reasons for this. One is that Gilbert is the only person who takes care of Arnie.
Another reason is Arnie s obsession of trying to climb the town s water tower. At the beginning
of the movie we see Arnie trying to climb the tower only getting half way up the ladder when
Gilbert gets him down. Also during Gilbert and Becky s talks Arnie runs off and successful
climbs the tower, which gets him arrested and taken to jail. Another example for Arine is the day
before his birthday, we see Amy making a cake which after running around the house Arnie
bumps into Amy thus making her drop the cake and making Gilbert go get a new cake from
FoodLand. When he leaves the store he is greeted by his boss from Lamson s Grocery who
doesn t like FoodLand. At home, Gilbert puts the new cake in the fridge and tells Arine not to eat
it. While blowing up balloons, Gilbert looks towards the kitchen where he sees Arine eating the
new cake. When his sisters see what Arine is doing, they start to give up on Arnie s birthday party.
Gilbert, who is now outraged, forces Arine upstairs to take a bath. After not cooperating Gilbert hits

How Does Shakespeare Use Literary Devices
In Sonnet 104 by William Shakespeare, Shakespeare is telling his friend that to him he still looks
the same and has the same beauty as when they first met. Three full years of seasons changing
and he is not old, his beauty continues to go forward as time passes. But when he dies beauty will
no longer exist, it will start to fade away and the generations that are to be born will not see it.
Shakespeare uses imagery and repetition to develop the theme of this sonnetwhich is real beauty is
not affected by time. William Shakespeare utilizes many different literary devices in the sonnet to
express his theme and one of the important ones that really establish it is imagery. The imagery
that Shakespeare frequently uses in sonnet 104 is visual imagery which makes what the sonnet is
trying to say stand out more because it is painting a picture in the reader s mind as they are... Show

shook three summers pride, Three beauteous springs to yellow autumn turn d In process of the

which yet are green. This imagery establishes that Shakespeare s friend still has beauty after cold
winters have taken away summer s leaves, delightful springs have turned to autumn and aromatic
scents have been burned. Shakespeare s imagery develops the theme of real beauty not being
affected by time because the changing of seasons represents time due to each season being a certain
amount of time. As the seasons change from spring, summer, autumn, and winter several months
have already passed and a lot of things can happen during those months yet Shakespeare s friend

Case Study Of Sigmund Freud s Theory On Psychoosexual...
Sigmund Freud (1856 1939), was an influential Austrian psychologist and the founder of
psychoanalysis. Freud went on to produce several theories, such as his theory on psychosexual
development, which will be the focus of this assignment. Using the case study of a six year old
patient, I will discuss the key principles of Freud s theory on psychosexual development. Including,
comprehensive definitions of the concepts used, and the stages of Freud s psychosexual
development. Lastly using Freud s theory, I will explain how the patient s current behaviour, could
impact her behaviour in adulthood.

Regression is one of the defence mechanisms identified by Freud. According to Freud there are
times when people are faced with circumstances that make them feel at such unease and threatened,
that they cannot deal with it and they protect themselves, by retreating to an earlier stage of
development. Many children who use regression as a defence mechanism, may begin to suck their
thumb again.
Freud s Psychosexual Stages of Development
Freud identified five stages of psychosexual development, namely: The oral stage, anal stage,
phallic stage, latency stage and genital stage.
The oral stage of development, begins at birth (even prenatally) and ends approximately, when
the child is one year old. The source of libido or pleasure and conflict, is the mouth. The child
will enjoy sucking, feeding, and putting things in their mouth. The psychological theme here is
dependency. Babies can do very little for themselves, and this would be the time where they are
cared for deeply by their mothers and their most intimate bonding time. When a child is deprived
of this and his/ her needs are not properly fulfilled it can lead to an oral fixation or overindulgence
in their later life. Fixation in this stage could lead to problems such as smoking, nail biting, pen
chewing, overeating, alcoholism, sarcasm and verbal hostility. (Sammons,

How Does Chemical Weathering Affect The Formation Of Rocks
Introduction: Rocks are a natural substance composed of solid crystals of different minerals that
have been fused together into a solid lump .1 They are so common and we see them especially
along the river bed, along beaches, also when we visit historical places we notice that most of
the castles and roads are made of rocks .If we look at the photos of these objects taken long time
ago and compare them to how these objects look now we can notice that their appearances have
changed .These changes occur when rocks are exposed to the processes such as wind, water, and
biological activities .Chemical weathering is another process which may affect rocks and to

Exposure to chemical substances such as club soda, water, oxygen, carbon dioxide and acids can
alter the rocks. There are different types of chemical weathering processes such as: oxidation,
carbonation, hydrolysis and dehydration.2
Chemical weathering is much more common in locations where there is a lot of water, because
water is important to many of the chemical reactions that can take place. Club soda is a solution of
water, acid and sodium bicarbonate and is one among different chemical substances that can be
used to investigate the effect of chemical weathering in rocks.
Rocks and Stones Rocks and stones are naturally occurring solids made up of minerals. There are
three different types of rocks: igneous rocks, metamorphic and sedimentary rocks. Rocks are all
around us. Although we think that rocks remain the same over time, in fact rocks always change.
However, the changes happen so slowly which makes them difficult to see.3 Thus this research will
help me to answer the question how does club soda affects rocks.

Christian Philosophy Of Christian Theology
From childhood we observe, study, and even absorb our surroundings. These observations
cultivate the person we become and educates us on how to approach life situations independently.
Independence is the self governing state of freedom to think and act as we desire. How we
approach life events can be viewed from a philosophical and/or a theological perspective. This
essay will compare different approaches in Christian theologyto philosophy to see which study was
more influential in our individual development. Christian theology is the study of Christian beliefs.
There are four sources for this study including scripture, tradition, reasoning and experience.
Scriptures are sacred writings that document historical events pertaining to Christianity. The Bibleis
the central location for the scriptures. Christians consider the Bible their source of truth and the
reference material needed to handle all life events as a Christian should. There are various
definitions regarding tradition however; one in particular lends itself best to Christian theology.
Tradition is the continued sharing of stories, customs, or values to future generations by written or
oral means. Tradition is passed down from generation to generation but, it is in vain without
application. Tradition provides a sense of stability for Christian theology however it also can
promote spiritual growth if allowed. Fiorenza (1984), noted that modern hermeneutics is being used
to examine the source of Christian

Most of the islets of the PRP treated group were seen closely associated with ducts. Several areas
of stratification and invagination of the epithelial lining of the ducts were observed. Some areas
showed small clusters of endocrine cells were closely associated with ducts and each islet cluster

could be the evident of the regenerative effect of PRP on the diabetic islets where pancreatic
regeneration occurred through the proliferation of duct cells and its subsequent differentiation into

characteristic findings of this work was the appearance of scattered areas of the parenchyma which

The Transformation Of Women In Jack Kerouac s On The Road
Throughout Jack Kerouac s classic novel On the Road, the women are portrayed as weak,
unintelligent, and manipulated targets to the dominant male figure. The women in the novel are
clearly depicted for the male s pleasure. Life on the road for these characters was not only for the
unbelievable adventures that were awaiting or for the opportunity to experiment with different
drugs and alcohol, but mainly for the sexual objectification of meeting new women everywhere
they traveled. By controlling these women, the men have the power to manipulate the women s
body mentally and physically. Yet, this process fails and creates a destruction of the characters who
are unable to find their inner self. Dean and Sal show the most important change of character
towards the end of the novelby the decisions they made earlier on the road. These decisions
effectively made them change character and underestimate the effect of manipulation.
One of the first occurrences of female manipulation transpires when Dean comes home to
Marylou after spending an abundance of time with Camille. Dean is known to leave his wife
and pursue any women he wants, whenever he wants. This is one of the many examples of how
Camille and Marylou are used only for sexual treatment. Marylou is the most familiar victim of
Dean s fluctuations to see his wife but for once Dean had a change of heart and suddenly had an
explosive yen to see his sweet first wife Marylou again (111). This isn t uncommon for Dean to get

A Comparison OfThe Legends Of King Arthur And Merlin
The King Arthur story takes on many perceptions and interpretations. These perceptions and
interpretations can be very different. The show Merlin is an adaptation of the King Arthur story but
Merlin is the main hero in the story not King Arthur. In the book, The Legends of King Arthur and
His Knights, the main hero is King Arthurnot Merlin. These two versions both incorporate King
Arthur s last battle but are both very different. Merlin and The Legends of King Arthur and His
Knights are different by Merlin tries to save King Arthur from dying but in the The Legends of
King Arthur and His Knights Merlin is not even mentioned.
The death of Arthur is different in both texts because the show wants to appeal to a bigger
audience. The main difference is that in The Legends of King Arthur, Arthur dies right after he
gets stabbed from Modred, but in the show Merlin, he lives for a another couple of days while
Merlin tries to find the place where Arthur will be saved. Merlin showed Arthur s death the way
it did because they wanted the audience to be on edge. In the show, Merlin is the main hero and
reveals that he has magical powers to Arthur while Arthur is dying. In the book Merlin is never
mentioned and never was this close to Arthur. The show focuses on Merlin being the main hero
because they wanted to portray that a common day person can be a hero. Merlin has magical
powers and the show is based off of these magical powers. For example, in the middle of King

unfair and biased though, particularly angering womans groups with the defence of provocation s
easy availability to male defendants.
However in 1957, s3 of the Homicide Act 1957 removed the restrictive nature of the defence, this
extended the definition of provocation to things said aswell as things done , and also reaffirmed the
position that the jury decides on the issue, by measuring the conduct of the accused against the
standard of the reasonable man. S3 Homicide 1957 set out three elements which must be satisfied
for the Courts to accept a defence of provocation and a verdict of manslaughter: There must be
evidence that the defendant was provoked, the accused must have lost his self control, and the jury
must be satisfied that a reasonable man would have acted in the same way.
Initially the judge will decide whether there is enough evidence of provocation to be put forward

The Environmental Problems Of Human Societies
Human societies have always altered their physical environments, such as, used fire, cleared
forests, tilled the soil, etc. Since the 1950 s, the pace and magnitude of the negative
environmental impacts of human activities have magnified and intensified. (p. 80) The Earth has
always gone through climate change, but not until recently have we as a human society sped up
this process. The way we have sped up these processes is most significantly with the high demand
of fossil fuels, deforestation of rain forests, pumping of greenhouse gases into the air, pollution of
water by fertilizers, use of pesticides, animal wastes, emission of toxic chemicals, and rapid erosion
of top soil. In addition, until recently people were unconcerned with conservation because they
seemed to be so vast a storehouse of resources that wastewas not considered a problem. (p. 97).
This may explain the tendency to be wasteful, but it is only a partial answer. The underlying
sources of our present environmental problems can be located in the culture and structure of U.S.
society. A strong tie to capitalism has allowed large corporations to do whatever is profitable while
ignoring conservation of natural resources. This dominant ideology has tended to legitimize or at
least account for all the wastefulness of Americans and their acceptance of pollution.
Source of Environmental Problems
An important aspect society needs to understand is that environmental problems affect everyone in
the world.

My Musical Theatre
Throughout my entire life I have never had any real interest in musical theatre. One time when I
was in about 5th grade, my grandfather took me, my brother and my cousin to a showing of the
Nutcracker. Let me tell you, I tried my hardest, I really tried, but I couldn t stay awake for the
entire performance. This experience I had put a bad taste in my mouth as for the next several years,
I never attended another musical theatreevent.
One day in the spring, I was going through Golden Bear Advising, and I saw that Berkeley
recommended that everyone should listen to the Hamilton soundtrack. I didn t know much about
the musical other than that a couple of my friends in my high school s theatre company listened to
it. My first thought was that it must be better than the Nutcracker, so I decided I d give it a
chance. About 15 seconds into Alexander Hamilton I remember saying out loud, hmm wow, this
bumps! My first time listening to the soundtrack, I didn t listen to it all the way through, but I
was definitely hooked I wanted to keep listening. Over the summer, whenever I d go on long car
rides, I d try to listen to the soundtrack. To be honest, before I listened to the soundtrack, I didn t
think that I would like it, simply because I wasn t a fan of musical theatre. However, I was blown

An Organization For Employee Incentives
Short Paper
In any organization implementing employee incentives will only make the business flourish. An
incentive is something that motivates an individual to perform to the best of their ability. Using
incentives to motivate the employees can create a successful business, but it has to be done
properly. In fact, employee incentives relate to positive reinforcements because if an individual gets
rewarded for performing a task efficiently, then they are more likely to repeat that task again. Some
people believe that money is as the only incentive to motivate employees, but that is incorrect.
Money can only motivate employees when a task is simple and does not require conceptual,
creative thinking. (YouTube) Consequently, money does not always influence individuals and may
create an even bigger problem. According to the book, An important principle is that the stronger
the incentive intensity, the stronger the motivation, but also the greater the chance that there will be
unintended, undesirable consequences. In other words, if there is a giant cash reward in play, this
will increase motivation of all employees, which may lead to an unfortunate result because the
employees will become stressed out. Therefore, the more a manager creates employee incentives
the more the company will benefit in the end. Managers have to first start by treating their
employees as people and nothing else. In fact, employee recognition programs create an increased
sense of worth and improved

Executive Summary
This paper seeks to identify two security vulnerabilities in the Aircraft Solution s computer
network. The investigation identified one policy and one software vulnerability. The policy
vulnerability is the firewall and router rule set policy that requires a review of these settings every
two years. The recommendation is to have management develop and support a new policy that will
improve network security and abide by current federal laws and regulations.
The identified software vulnerability is that customers, clients and employees have the same
network privilege with access through a corporate firewall, as in the case of the Chula Vista
location, there is direct access to the internet over WAN without any policy restrictions. The
recommendation is to install additional host based firewalls on all servers and user computers. In
addition, remove the WAN connection at the Chula Vista location and route all network traffic
through the corporate firewall.

Fracking is considered one of the most controversial...
Fracking is considered one of the most controversial methods of obtaining Earth s natural gases. It
is also known as hydraulic fracturing, which is drilling and introducing fluid (mostly water) into
the ground to get certain rocks to produce natural gases. Fracking could cause devastating effects
to the environment. According to the article Hydraulic Fracturing 101 on the web site
earthworks.com, fracking can not only use up a lot of water, but it can also contaminate
groundwater. Two to ten million gallons of water can be used to fracture a single well. Also the
water used to fracture has many additives, such as hydrochloric acid, that can prove deadly to those
who come in contact with them. In Hydraulic Fracturing 101 it stated that... Show more content on

After the fracturing process is over, GasFrac is able to recover one hundred percent of it s
fracturing components, un like conventional fracturing which can leave up to 80% of it s fracturing
liquids in the ground, which causes pollution and extensive cleanup. Also it takes much less space
to store LPG, which decreases the amount of trucks needed to transport it compared to
conventional fracking. As you can see, there are more positive factors to LPG vs. conventional
fracking liquids than being water less.
But how does water less fracking work? GasFrac.com stats that the GasFrac system is completely
closed, pressurized well, that doesn t allow any exposure to the air around it. Due to this there is
no vapor build up, or air pollution. The injection process uses LPG combined in a mixer with
sand, which stimulates the release of gas from the rocks in the ground below the GasFrac
system. After the process is done, all the fracturing fluids, and natural gases are efficiently
recovered, leaving less of a footprint in the environment and reducing cleanup. The process itself
is also much more efficient than fracking with water, getting a greater uptake in less time. The
system itself is controlled completely by computers. The personnel doesn t even have to be near
the GasFrac system while its fracking, which means greater workers safety. Monitors are
constantly examining the work site searching for any sort of gas build up, or LPG release into the

About her nightmare? Thor asked intrigued.
Yes. Loki acknowledged.
You really don t think she s really capable of killing? Thor asked surprised.
Less than a month ago I would have told you I wasn t, now I m not so sure. But what is more
important is that she thinks she is. You and I were brought up as warriors; we always knew
killing was expected of us during a battle. One way or another we made our peace with that long

Research Paper On Ernest Hemingway
The Most Interesting Man In The World The author I have chosen is Ernest Hemingway, who is
one of the most celebrated authors of the 20th century. He was an American novelist, short story
writer, and journalist. Hemingway wrote a variety of novels. My favorites are For Whom the
Bell Tolls, written in 1940, A Farewell to Arms, written in 1929, and The Sun Also Rises, written
in 1926. Most of Hemingway s works are often criticized and considered sexist, but I believe that
they give us a glimpse from a man s perspective of what life was like during his lifetime. I have
chosen to write about Ernest Hemingwaybecause of how fascinating his books and life were. He
lived and wrote all over the world: Africa, Italy, France. And, he also had a... Show more content on

Creatine Supplements
Protein Powders and Creatine:
Are they beneficial?
Anyone from ordinary people to fitness junkies to professional athletes and Olympians, can benefit
from protein powders and creatine supplements. According to Richard Kreider of the University of
Memphis, it is more than a supplement for athletes... it helps you maintain muscle mass and that has
long term health benefits . These supplements are meant to accommodate a healthy diet, not to be a
replacement for food. When used correctly, creatineand protein powders are beneficial for
everyone.
High quality protein supplements can be very beneficial for weight loss. When trying to lose
weight, it is essential to lose fat instead of muscle tissue. According to Lisa Leupp, adequate
protein is essential for maintaining lean muscle mass . If you are dieting and weight loss is
coming from muscle mass, you will have less energy and will not be able to perform as long. It has
been established that an average adult should take .36 grams of protein per pound of body weight.
If the diet is a reduced calorie diet, than even more protein should be consumed to maintain muscle

help protect the heart muscle from damage, but it can also help post op patients exercise at a

Farm To Table Movement
One of the biggest trends in the culinary world today is the farm to table movement. The phrase
farm to table is a phrase referring to food made with locally sourced ingredients. Our society is in a
rapid state of technological innovation, which means that we often compromise health and nutrition
for the sake of convenience. However, a growing number of consumers have started to seek
healthier and more environmentally friendly alternatives to the processed foods that dominate
grocery store shelves.
More than ever, Americans are looking for local food. The farm to table movement is also changing
the expectations for restaurants. The cost can come at a premium for some businesses, which are
still dealing with the challenges that serving local food can present. For the consumer, the purpose
may be helping to build a strong economy by supporting local agriculture, knowing where the food
comes from and farming practices used, or reducing the number of transportation miles and insuring
they are getting the freshest products.

Kudzu Vs Herbicides
Most mechanical means of kudzu removal practiced in the southeastern United States involve
mowing the vine or cutting it back. These methods, though more effective than herbicides, are more
time consuming. Vines must be mowed down just above ground level every month or two during
the growing season in order to prevent them from growing back. When using this method of kudzu
control, all of the plant material must be removed and/or destroyed (burned) to prevent the vines
from taking root and re growing (Miller, J. H., Edwards, B. , 1983). A different, and sometimes less
time consuming option for the control of kudzu is chemical treatment with herbicides. However,
chemical treatments are expensive, and killing off the plant completely requires

Rahman Khan became the king of Afghanistan. Khan did not like the Hazara people. He had a
negative approach with them and gave them all a tough time living in Afghanistan. If Baba
never let Ali and Hassan live with them on their property, then Ali and Hassan would be living in
the Kazarasjat Mountains. A place that no one wants to be living. Baba and Ali are half
brothers. They kept that a secret from everyone for a long period of time. Since Hassan and
Amir were best friends, when they would go out to fly their kites or just go out to play and read
on rocks, the Pashtuns kids would look at Amir and wonder why he was friends with a Hazara
boy. In the novel, a Pashtun boy and his friends ask Amir why he is friends with a Hazara boy. If
Hassan never lived with Amir, they would have never been friends. Amir does not find out until
later on in the story that him and Hassan are actually related. He finds out when he gets the phone

Ethno-Nationalist Terrorism
Ethno nationalist terrorist groups rely on the terrorism, which seeks to establish an independent
state for ethnic, linguistic, cultural groups. They claim themselves as revolutionary groups, who

causes of terrorism. Ethno nationalist are more nationalist than religious counterparts, and they
emphasize on national identity, community mobilization, group identity, and oppose the idea of
terrorism. They use violenceto keep their presence alive in the particular community, sustain their
political agendas, and find meaningful solutions. In addition, ethno nationalist terrorism use fear as
a tool for polarizing people from different culture, idea, and developing alternative identities. For

Sharing Literature With Children Essay
Running Head: Sharing Literature
Sharing Literature with Young Children

Sharing Literature
Having the opportunity to share wonderful books with children is the single most important
reason I began my career in early childhood. Among my fondest childhood memories is being read
to by my father. He instilled in me a love for books of all kinds, especially picture books, which I
found to be magical. Reading was relaxing and enjoyable, as well as exciting and inspiring. It
allowed me to use my imagination to take journeys without ever leaving home. As a teacher, I
wanted to share this experience with children. Sharing great literature with young children is a
journey itself. Authors ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not only are the illustrations magnificent, but the repeating phrases demand that children repeat
them in the character s voices, making the story hilarious and irresistible! What makes it even
better is that a child is the hero in the end. Our love and enthusiasm for a book can be contagious
and make the experience more special for children. Exposing children to poems, songs, and
rhymes is yet another good way to share literature with them. Best practice suggests that
displaying the words prominently in the classroom allows children to follow along as they are
sung or read. (CLAS, 1996) Although they may not be able to actually read every word, a pointer
can be used to help them follow along. Inviting them to read, sing, create new verses, and even
dance enhances the experience. When children are involved in the process of reading in a variety
of ways, it broadens their knowledge, strengthens their skills, and builds their confidence. As
educators, caregivers, and parents, we can have a tremendous impact on children s early literacy
experiences. Knowing several strategies for sharing literature with them gives us valuable tools
with which we can help them tackle the work of reading. As a result, we have the power to
transform it into an enjoyable experience children can enjoy throughout their lives. Sharing

Genetically Modified Foods Should Be Banned
On January 15, 2015 Juan Ramos suffered a violent allergic reaction after eating a bacon lettuce
and tomato sandwich for lunch. He died an hour after being taken to the hospital. The cause of
his death was determined to be sea food allergy. Any chance of cross contamination of his
sandwich with sea food was ruled out after forensic investigation. How did Mr Ramos who was a
known allergy sufferer reach this fate? The answer lay in the tomatoes that he had eaten for lunch;
they not only contained fish related allergens but also contained antibiotic resistant genes which
prevented Mr Ramos immune system from protecting his body (Billups). The question that comes
to mind now is how could something related to seafood be found in a vegetable? This is where
genetically modified foods enter the picture. Genetically modified foods are unnaturally produced.
Their consumption has been linked with several serious health disorders including cancer. Presence
of genetically modified foodin the market must be banned. This is a weakly regulated practice and
is not only damaging human health but is also slowly but steadily affecting the environment.
Genetically modified organisms (GMO) were introduced into the market in the 1980 s. In North
America, over 80% of our food contains GMO s ( GMO s and Your Family ). They are created by
splicing the genes of two organisms to introduce the desired characteristics of one organism into the
other. Like in the case of the tomato that Mr Ramos

The Early Church Essay
Over the past years of my life I have seen many changes, some for the good and others not as
good. Change can be demanding and also crucial. The early believers would encounter this. One
can see that significant change happened, when reading through the gospels and the book of acts it
is obvious to the reader that the believers who followed Jesuswould never be the same again.
They had enjoyed a time of fellowship with Jesus and teaching from Him. But He was now

told them to return to Jerusalem and wait for the coming of the Holy Spirit, and that is exactly
what they did. They heard what he had sad and responded to what Jesus told them to do, even
though He was no longer physically present with them. This was major key in ushering in the

  • 3. The Effect of Steriods in Major League Baseball Essay Baseball is known as America s pastime and is one of the most popular, respected sports on earth. Since the beginning of the sport, it seemingly advances with technology every year making faster and stronger players. The use of steroids became rampant and spread among players and has carried them away from the true history of the game they play. Controversy still today runs around the sport today about fines, punishments and record breaking. A suspension from an entire season and thousands of dollars of fine were issued and that seemed light with talks of being banned from baseball floating between the two parties. Major League Baseball took the right direction in the situation making an example of this group of players and especially Rodriguez (Quinn, Fish, and Gomez). This no tolerance policy could hopefully put a stop to the use of steroid in this great sport and get the game back to its original form. One of the most controversial subjects in Major League Baseball is that of hall of fame voting. Players who have tested positive should not be eligible for the hall of fame ballot. This is a great honor for players who are truly great and play the game the right way. The hall of fame has no room for players who try to gain unfair advantages through performance enhancing drugs. One of the greatest players of all time, Pete Rose, was denied from the Baseball Hall of Fame do betting on his games. This shows how seriously the voters take being inducted. Players who have tested positive for steroids should be banned from the hall of fame, which is what Major League Baseball is moving toward. Another issue is players who have broken records and tested positive for steroids during the period they broke the record. Although increased speed and arm strength have also been linked to the use of steroids, home run statistics have glaringly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

All these factors have helped Greece grow as a country. Throughout history, various mountains such as Mount Olympus and seas such as the Mediterranean have played an important role in the development of Greece history and culture. Greece is a country that is surrounded by mostly water, and the sea has played an important role in its history ( Ancient Greek Colonization.. ). The ancient Greeks were often known to be called seafarers looking for opportunities for trade and founding new coastal sites along the Mediterranean sea. Trading stations were the furthest outposts of Greek culture. At these trading stations, Greek goods, such as bronze, silver, olive oil, wine and pottery were exchanged for more luxurious items ( Ancient Greek Colonization.. ). Also, well established maritime routes around the Mediterranean sea enabled foreigners to travel to Greece. After the military campaign of Alexander the Great, a lot more intense trade routes were opened across Asia. Being a part of a music organization gives students a place to belong and a place where they can express themselves. It gives students the drive to do well in school, helps build social skills through teamwork, and improves their focus level. In every school, there are students who do not like their core subject classes. I have several in my choir program and the only reason they get out of bed to come to school in the morning is so they can be in choir. Harris Interactive did a study in 2006 over graduation rates and they found that high schools with a musicprogram had a graduation rate of 90% or greater. The national average graduation rate of those high schools that do not have a music program is 73% (Zuckerman 3). I believe the schools that have music programs have a higher graduation rate because students have a motivation to pass. As with other extracurricular activities, choir students have to pass their classes in order to sing or participate. Goliath was, in fact, a giant, that means that he suffered from Gigantism, a rare condition that is almost always caused by a pituitary gland tumor located at the base of the brain. He was older, already a well established champion on the field of hand to hand combat. In the story, the point was made to let us know that Goliath despised David when he saw that he was a healthy, handsome young boy. The main reason a person would despise these attributes would be if they are not in good health, they are old, and not good looking. Goliath must have been very slow when moving, his size, the weight of his armor and weapons, his age, and probable health status, and the heat of wearing heavy armor for such a large man must have been tiring. There s a good chance by his statement, Come down to me., and his gigantism that his eyesight may have been poor. He also made reference to sticks when David only had one which may have been a hint that the giant was seeing double. The other odd fact was that a shield bearer led out in front of the giant, why didn t he carry his own shield into battle? It seems as though Goliath would not have any chance unless David got close enough for the Giant to battle him in hand to hand ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The way the counsellor approaches the client in this infant stage is vital for the client to gain trust and has the willingness to open up in later sessions. The Client may hold back what they are feeling until they have gained the trust of the counsellor, and know they are safe and in a confidential environment. Another important factor in the opening stage is to draw up a contract and discuss the content with the client, this will demonstrate it s a working relationship and both the client and counsellor will know their barriers, it also gives structure and prevents any misunderstanding in the relationship. By having a contract it demonstrates to the client they are safe and able to speak freely also it shows the client that each session if totally confidential, there are exceptions to the rule and these will be included in the contract and what the process will be if they disclose anything that is unlawful. Having unconditional positive regard from the beginning will display to the client there is no hidden agenda and that the counsellor is non judgmental, this will support the client to develop the working relationship and show the client they are valued and wanted, they will start to relax to open up freely and loosen up their attitude towards the session. 1.3 ... Three full years of seasons changing and he is not old, his beauty continues to go forward as time passes. But when he dies beauty will no longer exist, it will start to fade away and the generations that are to be born will not see it. William Shakespeare utilizes many different literary devices in the sonnet to express his theme and one of the important ones that really establish it is imagery. Regression is one of the defence mechanisms identified by Freud. According to Freud there are times when people are faced with circumstances that make them feel at such unease and threatened, that they cannot deal with it and they protect themselves, by retreating to an earlier stage of development. Many children who use regression as a defence mechanism, may begin to suck their thumb again. Freud s Psychosexual Stages of Development Freud identified five stages of psychosexual development, namely: The oral stage, anal stage, phallic stage, latency stage and genital stage. The oral stage of development, begins at birth (even prenatally) and ends approximately, when the child is one year old. The source of libido or pleasure and conflict, is the mouth. The child will enjoy sucking, feeding, and putting things in their mouth. The psychological theme here is dependency. Babies can do very little for themselves, and this would be the time where they are cared for deeply by their mothers and their most intimate bonding time. When a child is deprived of this and his/ her needs are not properly fulfilled it can lead to an oral fixation or overindulgence in their later life. Fixation in this stage could lead to problems such as smoking, nail biting, pen chewing, overeating, alcoholism, sarcasm and verbal hostility. (Sammons, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How we approach life events can be viewed from a philosophical and/or a theological perspective. This essay will compare different approaches in Christian theologyto philosophy to see which study was more influential in our individual development. Christian theology is the study of Christian beliefs. There are four sources for this study including scripture, tradition, reasoning and experience. Scriptures are sacred writings that document historical events pertaining to Christianity. The Bibleis the central location for the scriptures. Christians consider the Bible their source of truth and the reference material needed to handle all life events as a Christian should. There are various definitions regarding tradition however; one in particular lends itself best to Christian theology. Tradition is the continued sharing of stories, customs, or values to future generations by written or oral means. Tradition is passed down from generation to generation but, it is in vain without application. Tradition provides a sense of stability for Christian theology however it also can promote spiritual growth if allowed. The Transformation Of Women In Jack Kerouac s On The Road Throughout Jack Kerouac s classic novel On the Road, the women are portrayed as weak, unintelligent, and manipulated targets to the dominant male figure. The women in the novel are clearly depicted for the male s pleasure. Life on the road for these characters was not only for the unbelievable adventures that were awaiting or for the opportunity to experiment with different drugs and alcohol, but mainly for the sexual objectification of meeting new women everywhere they traveled. By controlling these women, the men have the power to manipulate the women s body mentally and physically. Yet, this process fails and creates a destruction of the characters who are unable to find their inner self. Dean and Sal show the most important change of character towards the end of the novelby the decisions they made earlier on the road. These decisions effectively made them change character and underestimate the effect of manipulation. One of the first occurrences of female manipulation transpires when Dean comes home to Marylou after spending an abundance of time with Camille. The Environmental Problems Of Human Societies Human societies have always altered their physical environments, such as, used fire, cleared forests, tilled the soil, etc. Since the 1950 s, the pace and magnitude of the negative environmental impacts of human activities have magnified and intensified. (p. 80) The Earth has always gone through climate change, but not until recently have we as a human society sped up this process. The way we have sped up these processes is most significantly with the high demand of fossil fuels, deforestation of rain forests, pumping of greenhouse gases into the air, pollution of water by fertilizers, use of pesticides, animal wastes, emission of toxic chemicals, and rapid erosion of top soil. In addition, until recently people were unconcerned with conservation because they seemed to be so vast a storehouse of resources that wastewas not considered a problem. (p. 97). This may explain the tendency to be wasteful, but it is only a partial answer. The underlying sources of our present environmental problems can be located in the culture and structure of U.S. society. A strong tie to capitalism has allowed large corporations to do whatever is profitable while ignoring conservation of natural resources. An incentive is something that motivates an individual to perform to the best of their ability. Using incentives to motivate the employees can create a successful business, but it has to be done properly. In fact, employee incentives relate to positive reinforcements because if an individual gets rewarded for performing a task efficiently, then they are more likely to repeat that task again. Some people believe that money is as the only incentive to motivate employees, but that is incorrect. Money can only motivate employees when a task is simple and does not require conceptual, creative thinking. (YouTube) Consequently, money does not always influence individuals and may create an even bigger problem. According to the book, An important principle is that the stronger the incentive intensity, the stronger the motivation, but also the greater the chance that there will be unintended, undesirable consequences. In other words, if there is a giant cash reward in play, this will increase motivation of all employees, which may lead to an unfortunate result because the employees will become stressed out. It is also known as hydraulic fracturing, which is drilling and introducing fluid (mostly water) into the ground to get certain rocks to produce natural gases. Fracking could cause devastating effects to the environment. According to the article Hydraulic Fracturing 101 on the web site earthworks.com, fracking can not only use up a lot of water, but it can also contaminate groundwater. Two to ten million gallons of water can be used to fracture a single well. Also it takes much less space to store LPG, which decreases the amount of trucks needed to transport it compared to conventional fracking. As you can see, there are more positive factors to LPG vs. conventional fracking liquids than being water less. But how does water less fracking work? GasFrac.com stats that the GasFrac system is completely closed, pressurized well, that doesn t allow any exposure to the air around it. Due to this there is no vapor build up, or air pollution. The injection process uses LPG combined in a mixer with sand, which stimulates the release of gas from the rocks in the ground below the GasFrac system. After the process is done, all the fracturing fluids, and natural gases are efficiently recovered, leaving less of a footprint in the environment and reducing cleanup. The process itself is also much more efficient than fracking with water, getting a greater uptake in less time. The system itself is controlled completely by computers. Exposing children to poems, songs, and rhymes is yet another good way to share literature with them. Best practice suggests that displaying the words prominently in the classroom allows children to follow along as they are sung or read.
