Why Do People Fall Under Nazi Rule
Under Nazi rule, most countries could do nothing but comply. They all had to fall under Nazi rule and
do as they said. That meant turning over their Jews and doing exactly as Hitler demanded. Some
people showed moral courage in the face of the Nazis instead, but rarely was there a whole country
that tried to save themselves before falling under German demand. However, there was one country
that didn t comply despite its disadvantage to Germany: Denmark resisted Nazi rule which shows a
great example of a whole country working together to save their people.
When Denmark was invaded during World War II, they decided to try and resist their rule instead of
comply with all of their demands. One of these was trying to take all of the Jews. An example of
saving them was Georg Ferdinand Duckwitz who was a German diplomat. When he learned that
Germany was planning to purge all of the Jews, he warned the country so that they were able to get

There are many stories about a single person or a small group of people who risked their lives to save
Jews during World War II. However, it is rare to see a whole country able to do such an amazing,
courageous thing for people living in their boarders. The Jews got government help to get away from
Nazi rule and not every country did this. This story is inspiring because it shows that even a whole
country and chose to do the right things when faced with an impossible choice. To most countries, it
seemed as if the only thing they could do was comply with Nazi orders and fall under their rule. For
Denmark, though, it was the opposite. They found it impossible to do anything but save their citizens.
This story can give us hope to resist a bigger force and ignore the consequences if it is for a better
cause. This shows how many people can come under a good moral direction: one toward helping
others for the sake of those in

Wayne Williams Evidence
When Wayne Williams was trialed for the death of two victims, DNA testing was not a reliable source
in courtrooms as evident (Polk, 2015). A conviction could have been rendered without the fiber
evidence in this case. The prosecution had a strong case in providing the evidence from the DNA of
the hair obtained from the crime scene. On February 13, 1981, when Patrick Baltazar s body was
found dumped down a wooded slope behind an office park (Polk, 2015). A forensic scientist
discovered two human scalp hairs inside Baltazar s shirt. The DNA sample was tested under a
microscope by both the FBI and Royal Canadian Mounted Police (Polk, 2015). The hair sample was
consistent with Wayne William s DNA. This placed William at the scene of the crime. The ... Show

Another major evidence were also dog hairs on the body of Baltazar. In 2007, the dog hair sample was
sent to a genetics laboratory at the University of California School of Veterinary Medicine of Davis
(Polk, 2010). It was confirmed that Williams German Shepherd had the same DNA sequence. The lab
reported that DNA chain could only be found in 1 out of 100 dogs (Polk, 2015). A major factor, in this
case, was multiple jurisdictions for conviction, not the forensic evidence. It was ruled and confirmed
by scientists that the hair evidence in the Baltazar murder to be the strongest of this case (Polk, 2010).
Consequently, the trial took place in Fulton County Court, one of the largest parts of Atlanta. Baltazar
s body had been found just over the line in the DeKalb County portion of Atlanta. Due to a different
jurisdiction, trying to include his death among the Fulton County charges would have raised legal
issues (Polk, 2010). The lack of this critical scientific evidence made it hard to convict Williams of
this murder and other murders in the state of

The Media And The Issue Of Illegal Immigration
Paper #1: Discuss how the different media outlets frame the issue of illegal immigration?
It is commonly known that media coverage of anything controversial can be faulty, and biased. ABC
News and CCN News could cover the same story, in different ways. This is amplified in cases that
affect different audiences (as in age, race, financial class), because certain stations are aimed towards a
certain audience. A great example of this is FOX and FOX Latino. The two stations, though sister
stations, have very different approaches on certain topics, one being illegal immigration. FOX tends to
be very biased, while FOX Latino gives direct facts.
Most people would assume that FOX and FOX Latino, sister stations, would have rather similar ...

They covered the controversy very differently. FOX Latino has an audience that is concerned about
this problem of illegal immigration, and the problems the immigrants themselves are having. This is
obvious by looking at the articles they have.
These articles and news clips gives statistics of the hardships that the immigrants are facing, and
discuss solutions to said difficulties. For example, On September 22nd, 2015 they posted an article
titled Number of immigrant families, children arrested at border jumps more than 50%. Unlike some
of their previous articles (IE What Happens to US Born Kids of Deported Undocumented
Immigrants?) which was very involved and emotional, this one is rather detached. However, it does
discuss theories on why this is a continuing problem, and why it changes throughout the year. FOX
Latino is there to give information on illegal immigration, possible solutions, etc. They give the
unbiased facts.
FOX news has very different coverage on the subject. They are clearly fixated on discussing the
problems that illegal immigration causes to them (middle class (white) America). For example, on
September 14th, 2015 FOX reporter Kimberly Guilfoyle went viral for allegedly comparing
immigrants to a brain tumor. In the next few days (September 16th, 2015) they publish an article
Elusive crime wave data shows frightening toll of illegal immigrant criminals. This article was very

Excitement in the Airport Terminal
With clear emerald eyes illuminating with enthusiasm, the young child s face bursts with happiness,
showering down like rain as the sweet taste of excitement lingers in the air as he chases around his
siblings whilst tugging on his parents arms. They are drained from the child s constant yelling and
their heavy eyes slowly alter to a dark shade of cerulean and fill with extreme fatigueness. Their eyes
gradually begin to shut, however much they long to stay wide open. Across the parents, the two
teenagers are like robots; their shoulders are slouched as they drag their feet, one step at a time, to the
nearest seat, as they stay glued to their phones, unaware of the world around them. The innocent child
then moves his attention to the panes of glass beside him, his eyes fill with enlightenment as he gazes
at the plane outside, observing every inch of detail, in fascination. The wheels on the plane begin to
take off the concrete floor. Once the plane begins to flee, disappearing into the skies above; the boy
feels a sense of freedom come over him. Suddenly, the parents sense of hearing heightens as they hear
an announcement call from the corner of the airport, informing all passengers of their flight to board.
Grabbing the young child by the hand, the parents finally stand up ready to go. Their once excitement
for their weekend break disappears as they dread the chaos that their young will cause aboard.

Profitable industries that yield high returns will attract new company s. This results in many new
entrants, which eventually will decrease profitability for all companies in the industry. Unless the
entry of new firms can be prevented. From this perspective caterpillar has one main competitor in its
market. JCB is a company that holds a similar place to Caterpillar in the market place, producing

The existence of products outside of the realm of the common product boundaries increases the

The Importance Of Intervention From The Arctic Council
The Arctic contributes a distinctive region which combines a unique biosphere and a wealth of natural
resources, which often become a source of controversy. This paper will argue that the significant
climate changes which are taking place in the Arctic Region open new pathways for economic
opportunism for Russia, which calls for radical intervention from the Arctic Council. Firstly, this case
study will give a framework of the main theory which will be used throughout in order to justify the
importance of intervention from the Arctic Council. The main theorist used is Oran Young, who
provides an agenda in how institutions such as the Arctic Council should function effectively in the
Arctic. Moreover, the climate changes which are taking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, through institutionalism, one can understand that the lack of intervention from non state
actors contributes to this idea of economic logic over environmental sustainability. Arguably based on
institutionalism the European actors in the Arctic, which are familiar with intervention from
institutions, are influenced for instance by UNEP when it comes in to make a decision in the specific
area. Consequently, this is helpful to understand why a state such as Russia is more economically and
military antagonistic and less prone to cooperate with the other seven states of the area over the
natural resources in the Arctic.
Institutionalism is a theory which bases its principles of the idea that there is a need for stronger global
institutions and norms as well as sufficient state and local capacity to constrain and direct the global
political economy (Clapp and Dauvergne, 2011, 7). More specifically, the ideas of institutionalism do
not set aside ideas such as global economic growth and foreign investment in areas of extreme wealth
in natural resources such as the Arctic. Nonetheless, they simultaneously underline the importance of
environmental sustainability which is succeeded through the setting of institutional norms which will
channel a better environmental management in addition to sustainable growth. As mentioned in the
work of Oran Young, a political scientist

Karl Polanyi 1944
Karl Polanyi s (1944/1957) Societies and Economic Systems, The Great Transformation, provides a
historical background to the structure of markets before the modern era. It is important to first
differentiate between markets and the market economy in order to understand the factors that make up
economies. The market economy is a self regulating system of markets that is directed by market
prices and nothing but market prices (p. 43). Polanyi argues that having an economy of some form is
essential to the survival of a society, however, he notices that pervious societies successfully existed
with no evidence of market control (p. 43). Markets have existed since the Stone Age, but their role

44). Max Weber was one of the first contemporary historians to reject the idea that primeval
economies provide no significance to modern economy, he emphasizes the changelessness of man as a
social being (Polanyi, 1944, p. 46). Polanyi (1944) explains that man s economy, as a rule, is
submerged in his social relationships meaning that individuals place their social standings, social
claims, and social assets at higher value, rather than economic motives/material goods (p. 46). In
primitive economies, production and distribution is enforced through the principles of reciprocity and
redistribution. Reciprocity is observed in families and kinship; this is explained through an example of
Trobriand Islanders of Western Melanesia culture (Polanyi, 1944, p. 47). This civilization uses a
matrilineal system; the male in the family is recognized for his good behaviour if he offers the best
crops to his sister and her family; however, if he fails, his reputation (which is extremely valuable) is
at risk and he will not earn material benefits in exchange (Polanyi, 1944, p.

Cultural Barriers In Appalachian Culture
Although the Appalachian Region is tied together by the culture the small communities within sparate
the region. The region is separated in urban, rural, and mountain areas. Those who live in the urban
areas have more opportunities as they are closer to conneting roads. Urban areas also offer more in
ways of education and employment. Rural areas prove to be a challenge as connecting roads are few,
education is lacking, and jobs are less. As you get closer to the moutainous areas the more poverty and
undereducated individuals are. Mountain areas are the roughest areas to live in as they are inhabited
by more rugged individuals who still share the same ideas as the early settlers before them; less

a community strong in family ties, togetherness, neighbors who want to help, and loyality to place. In

Tribal Relations Between The United States Essay
Introduction
Tribal relations to the United States are similar to that of a ward and his guardian. This sentiment was
proclaimed in 1831 in Cherokee Nation V. Georgia. The United States has been attempting to integrate
Native populations into the American systems since the first settlements arrived from across the sea.
Original tribal status was that of dependent domestic nations 1. Recent history has changed the status
of Native America to one of self determination and sovereignty. This status was not determined by the
US Constitution as Native Tribes were sovereign people before Colonialization. The Unites States
solidified the direct relationship between the Native Nations and the Federal Government with the
Indian Commerce Clause of 1879. The Commerce Clause allowed Congress alone the power to
regulate commerce between the United States and the Indian tribes.2 The Marshall Trilogy, Chief
Justice Marshall s Supreme Court cases designated the limits of tribal sovereignty for the Native
populations being surrounded by the newly formed United States of America. In the first case,
Johnson v. M Intosh, the Court recognized Indian nations do not have a right to enter into treaties
without federal approval.3 In Cherokee Nation v. Georgia, Chief Justice Marshal defined the Indian
nations as domestic dependent nations. 4 In the final case, Worcester v. Georgia, the Supreme Court
recognized the Native nation s right to self govern releasing any control by the States

The Role Of Follower As A Leader

What is a leader and what is a follower? In any organized structure, business, or grouping these two
key positions will be represented. Chaleff (2009) stated that if one looked up the subject of leadership
they would be bombarded with numerous titles on the subject, but if one looked up the follower they
would most likely only find the subject as it relates to leaders. The purpose of this paper is to identify
the role of the follower as compared with a leader. This is followed by examine two types of
interaction between leadership and followers. These interactions will be illustrated through clinical
situations using staff nurses. Finally this paper will examine the power and responsible of a staff nurse
as a follower without any official authority.

Learning From Traditional Classroom And Learning
I have experience in both learning from the traditional classroom and learning from the online setting.
I can easily identify the differences between these two types of learning environments. The two main
differences can be divided by two categories which are flexibility and class discussions (Bethel
University, n.d.)
?There is far less flexibility in a traditional classroom (Bethel University, n.d.). As a formal student of
a traditional classroom learning environment, I had to physically drive to the college, carry my
textbooks everywhere, and attend class at a designated day and time each week. Since I didn t have
any children, I didn t have to be concerned with finding a babysitter (Bethel University, n.d.). At the
end of each school day, I had to pay for parking as I exited the campus parking garage. Online
learning can be conducted anytime and anywhere that has internet connection. The greater flexibility
involved with online learning can cause a lot of stress to a student. It would be easy for a student to
forget the weekly deadlines and the upcoming schedules (Bethel, University, n.d.). Students can suffer
from a perceived lack of guidance, may experience isolation, and will likely have technology issues
from time to time. (Bethel University, n.d., p. 7). In an online class discussion, words can be thought

Fiscal Control Boards And Its Effects On The Cities Under...
RESEARCH DESIGN
Model and hypothesis Fiscal control boards have different impacts on the cities under which they
function. My hypothesis is that the level of structural considerations such as citizen participation,
socioeconomic factors, and the legal framework taken into account in the board s policy making
procedures affect its level of effectiveness. These features of control boards are then used to analyze
Puerto Rico s case in terms of strengths and weaknesses in its potential success in addressing
structural problems in Puerto Rico s economy. In terms of comparing the cases, I will take three
variables: citizen input, consideration of legal structure, and socioeconomic factors when comparing
the policies that were passed and their outcomes. The data used will be provided by different official
documents and scholars analyzing cases of emergency financial measures and fiscal control boards
mentioned in the literature review. To test this relationship, I will perform a comparative case study of
Puerto Rico s fiscal control board with that of Washington D.C, and Detroit focusing on these aspects.
These examples allow me to investigate the factors involved in the policies introduced by the boards
under such different contexts. By choosing these cases, I am also able to control for factors that other
analysts consider imperative, such as the level of citizen input, socioeconomic conditions, and legal
structure. Regarding the level of citizen input, I will be examining the

Connectivity And Topology Of Wireless Networks
Connectivity and topology control: Some approaches tried to improve the system reliability by
carefully designing the connectivity or topology of wireless networks. Paper [50] addresses the
problem of fault tolerant deployment of wireless ad hoc networks. Based on the pre assumed
transmission range, the authors propose a scheme to calculate the probability that a given network is k
connected. Based on the intensive deployment, the redundant sensor nodes are used to cope the
random working nodes failure. Following the similar idea, a distributed algorithm is proposed in [52].
By deploying calculated necessary number of extra nodes in the given network, the objective of fault
tolerant topology control can be achieved. However, due to the limited space and cost constraint,
adding redundant nodes to a deployed WSN may not always be an acceptable solution. Another fault
tolerant topology control algorithm is presented by Li and Hou in [53], in which a spanning subgraph
is computed by each node. If a pair of vertices is not k connected, an extra edge will be added between
these two vertices. The authors further prove that the resultant global network is k connected. In [54],
by considering the mobility of nodes, the author shows the mobility resilient topology control
protocols. The author classifies the topology control protocols into two types. 1) In this case, the
topology is built and maintained by each node based on its own knowledge about its neighbors.

Roe V. Wade Case Analysis
On a cold day in January of 1973, Roe V. Wade was passed by the Supreme Court. This nationwide
case made abortion fully legal in the United States. Supreme Court justices agreed that the
constitutions first, fourth, ninth, and fourteenth amendments protect an individual s rights of privacy
against state laws. Things such as marriage, contraception, and so forth fall under such laws. It was
found that abortion falls under these privacy laws, as well. This was a huge win for women s rights.
Not only did women gain the right to make a safe and legal decision about their own bodies, but it was
also an important win because at the time one in five maternal deaths were due to illegal abortions
(Abortion, Issues and Controversies). Now that abortion is legal, and has been for over forty years, the
maternal death rate is much lower and the number of abortions is actually declining (Rachel, Jones, et

Furthermore, General Motors may also be found liable in its failure to meet the duty to warn of a
continuing nature. However, the scope of the paper limits the analysis exclusively to establishing
negligence.
Negligence Law
In order to successfully establish General Motor s negligence, the product liability case must comply
with the following established principles:
1) Is there a Duty of Care toward the injured party?
Indisputably, General Motors has a duty of care. The responsibility of a manufacturer was established
in Donaghue v. Stevenson, (1932) A.C. 562, which established the principle that manufacturers have
the duty to ensure that the ultimate consumers of their product do not sustain injuries as a result of the
use of their products. Manufacturers of goods and services are subject to a high duty of care given that
these businesses commercially profit from the purchase and use of their products.

Challenger Disaster Speech Speeches
Challenger Tragedy Who would have thought when seven souls set out on a journey to space such a
tragedy would have happened 73 seconds after the takeoff? On January 28th, 1986, the American
shuttle Orbiter Challenger exploded shortly after takeoff, killing astronauts: Michael Smith, Dick
Scobee, Judith Resnik, Ronald McNair, Ellison Onizuka, Gregory Jarvis, and school teacher Sharon
McAuliffe, who was supposed to teach lessons to schoolchildren all across the country. The launch
was viewed by thousands of people across the nation and the world, including numerous
schoolchildren. The tragedy of the event called for former President Ronald Reagan to address the

He talks how they were brave and full of aspiration by saying, give me a challenge and I ll meet it
with joy. In other words, he makes sure that everyone knows that we will not forget the men and
women who lost their lives and that they will remain in our memory and hearts forever. He addresses
the school children as well so that they have a better understanding of what happened and how hard it
was to view such a tragedy. As a result, he wants for the children to understand that things do happen
and he does not want them to give up on their future with what they have seen no matter how bad the
devastation. The future doesn t belong to the fainthearted; it belongs to the brave. He does not want
them to be timid, he wants them to continue on the journey forward. Further, that part of the speech
that addressed the schoolchildren was meant to make them less afraid of the events that they saw. In
other words, he wanted to try to explain things to them that would be at a level that they would
understand and make them feel better about what they seen. The great respect and ambition that the
president has for the program is at the upmost respect. This brought him great credibility by
addressing NASA for what they have accomplished and moving forward with the space program. We
don t hide our space program. We don t keep secrets and cover things up. We do it all up front and in
public. Indeed, he wants everyone to know that

This experiment uses the separation technique of filtering. What type of mixtures can be separated
using filtering? Is filtering a physical or chemical filtering technique?
Filtration can only be used to separate a solid from a liquid. Typically, the mixture is heterogeneous
because filtration is a physical filtering technique that separates components that has noticeably
different size.

Scandal Vs Watergate
Among the similarities of Iran contra scandal and Watergate we have a concerned likely wrongdoing

staff lawyers did most of the initial questioning, not the members; testimony in both cases was marked
by conflict, by faltering memories which Watergate Chairman Sam Ervin called convenient forgetters.

Second Ku Klux Klan
The second Ku Klux Klan and often regarded as the most influential and successful Klan was founded
in 1915 by William J. Simmons, who was an ex minister and a promoter of fraternal regulation. The
second Klan s first meeting was held on Stone Mt., Ga. The new Klan had a wider program than the
previous one, for it added even more to white supremacy . The Klan added an intense nativism and
anti Catholicism closely related to that of the Know Nothing movement of the middle 19th century.
Consequently it s appeal was not sectional, and, with the help soon after 1920 by the activities of
professional promoters such as Elizabeth Tyler and Edward Y. Clarke, the Klan s appeal and influence
spread quickly throughout the North as well as the South. It provided an outlet for the militant
patriotism evoked by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, in 1922, 1924, and 1926, The Klan elected many state officials and on top of that, a
number of Congressmen. States such as Texas, Oklahoma, Indiana, Oregon, and Maine were
particularly under its influence. Its power it had in the Midwest was torn up during the late 1920s
when a vital Klan leader by the name of David C. Stephenson, was convicted of second degree
murder. Later on, there was evidence of corruption that eventually led to the allegation of the governor
of Indiana and mayor of Indianapolis, who were both supporters of the Ku Klux Klan. The Klan often
took extreme and non legal measures, and had a great hatred against those that it considered to be their
enemies. Just like the earlier Klan, many of these tactics, whether certified by the central ruling or not,
were absolutely extreme. At its peak in the mid 1920s, the Klan s membership was around 4 million to
about 5 million. The Klan membership by 1930 eventually decreased to an estimated thirty thousand.
Its collapse afterwards was largely attributed to rules that prohibited

A basic low fat diet
So what s the magic? There is no magic. The women in the study ate less than they normally did.
According to the study, the women in the Special K group were eating about 2200 kcals per day.
When they started substituting the cereal meals they dropped daily intake by about 640 kcals per day.
Furthermore, a lot of those calories were from fat (~39 grams or 351 kcals).
Good or What?
Personally I think incorporating some cereals into your diet can be good but there are some caveats
here: Satiety From experience, I ve noticed that wolfing down a bowl of cereal doesn t always curb the
hunger pangs. However having a bit more protein in the mix does keep the pangs at bay. Nutrition The
simple truth is Special K is better than what most people eat, but it still contains such gems as High
Fructose Corn Syrup. Serving for serving, it has less potassium and fiber than oats, and more sugar.

The reasoning is, that in a perfectly competitive market a large number of sellers offer homogeneous
or undifferentiated products (Perloff, p.220), thus the demand for these products or services is
perfectly elastic as the consumer can easily substitute one firm s for another. Consequently, each firm
can sell its product or service at the market price but as soon as a firm raises the price, its customers
would wander off to another supplier. In the supply and demand model an increase in prices can
usually also be achieved by reducing production and therefore supply (Perloff, p.27). In a perfectly
competitive market, however, there are no barriers to entry, which means that new firms could enter
the market to satisfy the excess demand, thereby keeping the market price unchanged (Perloff, p.242).
These conditions make the producer side a price taker , which is the definition of a competitive market
(Perloff, p.220), and certainly benefit the consumers, thus welfare indeed is maximized in a
competitive market. 3.1 The Welfare Concept When a market lacks competition the consumer suffers.
The most extreme scenario of lacking competition is that of a monopoly. In a monopoly there are no
substitutes to the single supplier s products or services, so the consumer cannot choose between
different sellers and simply has to accept the price that is asked. Figure 1 below shows the welfare
effects of a monopoly. In a competitive market a firm s [...] supply curve is its marginal cost

denying Karen access to Sharon s medical records and supporting Mr. Kowalski s petition.7 The trial

Climate Change And Climate Adaptation
One of the most challenging global issue facing today s society is climate change, it is affecting all
regions across the globe, with some areas experiencing extreme weather events and heavy rainfall,
whereas other regions are hit with droughts and heat waves. Climate change can be defined as a large
scale, long term shift in the planet s weather patterns or average temperatures. (metoffice).
Consequently, a range of challenges are occurring to not only human settlements, but more
importantly to the natural environment as well. It is becoming increasingly important for countries
across the globe to attempt to adapt and mitigate from the effects of climate change. Climate
mitigation is any action taken to permanently eliminate or reduce the long term risk and hazards of
climate change to human life, property. (Global greenhouse warming.com). It can include enhancing
the sinks of greenhouse gases, as well as reducing the sources. Whereas climate adaptation, is
referring to the ability of a system to adjust to climate change (including climate variability and
extremes) to moderate potential damage, to take advantage of opportunities, or to cope with the
consequences. (Global greenhouse warming.com). Adaptation can include improving road
infrastructure, so it would be able to withstand hotter temperatures, or just simply change in behaviour
shifts such as using less water. These two methods are essential and can be connected through
strategic town planning, and can be used to tackle climate change, through an array of
implementations which will not only prepare the globe, but also reduce the impacts of climate change.
Urban areas not only have a profound part in contributing to climate change, but these areas have also
become extremely vulnerable to the impacts of climate change, as more than half of the world s
population are living in urban areas and global rate of urbanisation is evermore increasing. Cities can
be met with an increase in frequency of storms, flooding, landslides and heat waves. Higher
temperatures also occur more frequently in urban areas than rural or suburban surroundings, due to the
urban heat island effect. This is an area, such as a city or industrial site, that has consistently

Advantage And Disadvantage Of E-Commerce
After I have gone through this article paper, my opinion would be, e commerce is becoming a major
factor in the development of business whether it is a global or a local business. This is happening
because the selection of data innovation is on the expanding pattern and hence prompts various
changes in business exercises. In any making decision situation, it has never been easy and that is the
situation that the SMEs nowadays are facing in their business. Before I go further with the advantages
of having e commerce in SMEs, I will first start with the disadvantages. First and foremost is the
organizational readiness. According to Chong (2009), the hierarchical preparation measures whether
the associations traits are sufficiently adequate in receiving the e commerce. They proposed that top
administration backing is the most critical component to figure out if the organization is prepared to
receive the e commerce. Based on above citation, I can say that it is all depending on the level of
understanding of someone in the SMEs in the usage of Internet at the workplace. In other words, this
kind of people can be called as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Power Of Innovation By Don Tapscott
The Power of Innovation The world has changed over the last ten years, technology has created a new
world, where we have become more dependent on it. In his article, The Eight Net Gen Norms , Don
Tapscott, discusses what he believes the net generation is and how they are defined by eight norms:
Freedom, customization, scrutiny, integrity, collaboration, entertainment, speed, and innovation. (132)
Tapscott makes some very unique observations, but there was one norm, I felt was more important,
innovation. There are many reasons why, but the one main reason is the creation of new ideas. Without
the innovated ideas, we wouldn t have the advanced technology we possess today. Think about the
world without cell phones, no web, or no medical tools? We know for a fact this era couldn t survive
without them. The workplace is starting to turn from the traditional way by allowing the employees to
be heard, but there is still a gap between generations. The power of innovation helps people with
everyday life, changing the way jobs are running, but also has created a rift between the old and new
generations. Let s face it, life is so much better with the technology we possess now. In a matter of
seconds, I can get information about the Roman Empire, just with one click of my phone, or start my
car without my key or me being in it. I reckon this is where the old generation can complain that we
are lethargic and can t do nothing for ourselves. The world has outgrown the old ways and the

  • 2. Why Do People Fall Under Nazi Rule Under Nazi rule, most countries could do nothing but comply. They all had to fall under Nazi rule and do as they said. That meant turning over their Jews and doing exactly as Hitler demanded. Some people showed moral courage in the face of the Nazis instead, but rarely was there a whole country that tried to save themselves before falling under German demand. However, there was one country that didn t comply despite its disadvantage to Germany: Denmark resisted Nazi rule which shows a great example of a whole country working together to save their people. When Denmark was invaded during World War II, they decided to try and resist their rule instead of comply with all of their demands. One of these was trying to take all of the Jews. An example of saving them was Georg Ferdinand Duckwitz who was a German diplomat. When he learned that Germany was planning to purge all of the Jews, he warned the country so that they were able to get almost ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are many stories about a single person or a small group of people who risked their lives to save Jews during World War II. However, it is rare to see a whole country able to do such an amazing, courageous thing for people living in their boarders. The Jews got government help to get away from Nazi rule and not every country did this. This story is inspiring because it shows that even a whole country and chose to do the right things when faced with an impossible choice. To most countries, it seemed as if the only thing they could do was comply with Nazi orders and fall under their rule. For Denmark, though, it was the opposite. They found it impossible to do anything but save their citizens. This story can give us hope to resist a bigger force and ignore the consequences if it is for a better cause. This shows how many people can come under a good moral direction: one toward helping others for the sake of those in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Wayne Williams Evidence When Wayne Williams was trialed for the death of two victims, DNA testing was not a reliable source in courtrooms as evident (Polk, 2015). A conviction could have been rendered without the fiber evidence in this case. The prosecution had a strong case in providing the evidence from the DNA of the hair obtained from the crime scene. On February 13, 1981, when Patrick Baltazar s body was found dumped down a wooded slope behind an office park (Polk, 2015). A forensic scientist discovered two human scalp hairs inside Baltazar s shirt. The DNA sample was tested under a microscope by both the FBI and Royal Canadian Mounted Police (Polk, 2015). The hair sample was consistent with Wayne William s DNA. This placed William at the scene of the crime. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another major evidence were also dog hairs on the body of Baltazar. In 2007, the dog hair sample was sent to a genetics laboratory at the University of California School of Veterinary Medicine of Davis (Polk, 2010). It was confirmed that Williams German Shepherd had the same DNA sequence. The lab reported that DNA chain could only be found in 1 out of 100 dogs (Polk, 2015). A major factor, in this case, was multiple jurisdictions for conviction, not the forensic evidence. It was ruled and confirmed by scientists that the hair evidence in the Baltazar murder to be the strongest of this case (Polk, 2010). Consequently, the trial took place in Fulton County Court, one of the largest parts of Atlanta. Baltazar s body had been found just over the line in the DeKalb County portion of Atlanta. Due to a different jurisdiction, trying to include his death among the Fulton County charges would have raised legal issues (Polk, 2010). The lack of this critical scientific evidence made it hard to convict Williams of this murder and other murders in the state of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Media And The Issue Of Illegal Immigration Paper #1: Discuss how the different media outlets frame the issue of illegal immigration? It is commonly known that media coverage of anything controversial can be faulty, and biased. ABC News and CCN News could cover the same story, in different ways. This is amplified in cases that affect different audiences (as in age, race, financial class), because certain stations are aimed towards a certain audience. A great example of this is FOX and FOX Latino. The two stations, though sister stations, have very different approaches on certain topics, one being illegal immigration. FOX tends to be very biased, while FOX Latino gives direct facts. Most people would assume that FOX and FOX Latino, sister stations, would have rather similar ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They covered the controversy very differently. FOX Latino has an audience that is concerned about this problem of illegal immigration, and the problems the immigrants themselves are having. This is obvious by looking at the articles they have. These articles and news clips gives statistics of the hardships that the immigrants are facing, and discuss solutions to said difficulties. For example, On September 22nd, 2015 they posted an article titled Number of immigrant families, children arrested at border jumps more than 50%. Unlike some of their previous articles (IE What Happens to US Born Kids of Deported Undocumented Immigrants?) which was very involved and emotional, this one is rather detached. However, it does discuss theories on why this is a continuing problem, and why it changes throughout the year. FOX Latino is there to give information on illegal immigration, possible solutions, etc. They give the unbiased facts. FOX news has very different coverage on the subject. They are clearly fixated on discussing the problems that illegal immigration causes to them (middle class (white) America). For example, on September 14th, 2015 FOX reporter Kimberly Guilfoyle went viral for allegedly comparing immigrants to a brain tumor. In the next few days (September 16th, 2015) they publish an article Elusive crime wave data shows frightening toll of illegal immigrant criminals. This article was very negative towards the idea ... • 5. Excitement in the Airport Terminal With clear emerald eyes illuminating with enthusiasm, the young child s face bursts with happiness, showering down like rain as the sweet taste of excitement lingers in the air as he chases around his siblings whilst tugging on his parents arms. They are drained from the child s constant yelling and their heavy eyes slowly alter to a dark shade of cerulean and fill with extreme fatigueness. Their eyes gradually begin to shut, however much they long to stay wide open. Across the parents, the two teenagers are like robots; their shoulders are slouched as they drag their feet, one step at a time, to the nearest seat, as they stay glued to their phones, unaware of the world around them. The innocent child then moves his attention to the panes of glass beside him, his eyes fill with enlightenment as he gazes at the plane outside, observing every inch of detail, in fascination. The wheels on the plane begin to take off the concrete floor. Once the plane begins to flee, disappearing into the skies above; the boy feels a sense of freedom come over him. Suddenly, the parents sense of hearing heightens as they hear an announcement call from the corner of the airport, informing all passengers of their flight to board. Grabbing the young child by the hand, the parents finally stand up ready to go. Their once excitement for their weekend break disappears as they dread the chaos that their young will cause aboard. The Importance Of Intervention From The Arctic Council The Arctic contributes a distinctive region which combines a unique biosphere and a wealth of natural resources, which often become a source of controversy. This paper will argue that the significant climate changes which are taking place in the Arctic Region open new pathways for economic opportunism for Russia, which calls for radical intervention from the Arctic Council. Firstly, this case study will give a framework of the main theory which will be used throughout in order to justify the importance of intervention from the Arctic Council. The main theorist used is Oran Young, who provides an agenda in how institutions such as the Arctic Council should function effectively in the Arctic. Moreover, the climate changes which are taking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Furthermore, through institutionalism, one can understand that the lack of intervention from non state actors contributes to this idea of economic logic over environmental sustainability. Arguably based on institutionalism the European actors in the Arctic, which are familiar with intervention from institutions, are influenced for instance by UNEP when it comes in to make a decision in the specific area. Consequently, this is helpful to understand why a state such as Russia is more economically and military antagonistic and less prone to cooperate with the other seven states of the area over the natural resources in the Arctic. Institutionalism is a theory which bases its principles of the idea that there is a need for stronger global institutions and norms as well as sufficient state and local capacity to constrain and direct the global political economy (Clapp and Dauvergne, 2011, 7). More specifically, the ideas of institutionalism do not set aside ideas such as global economic growth and foreign investment in areas of extreme wealth in natural resources such as the Arctic. Nonetheless, they simultaneously underline the importance of environmental sustainability which is succeeded through the setting of institutional norms which will channel a better environmental management in addition to sustainable growth. A final reason Alexander is great is his military. Alexander moved his troops in different directions. The enemy wouldn t expect it. Alexander moved his troops to the river bank, and he took most of his cavalry. He would create a clamour, raise the war cry and produce all other such noises as would come from men preparing to cross the river (Doc B). Alexander was great because he leaded his men into a fighting zone but he prepared it to attack his enemy. It is true that Alexander had some bad points. For example they scooped up with difficulty what they could and hurried back to Alexander then, just before they reached him, they tipped the water into a helmet and gave it to him. Alexander, with a word of thanks for the gift, took the helmet and , in full view of his troops, poured the water on the ground. (Doc D). • 10. Karl Polanyi 1944 Karl Polanyi s (1944/1957) Societies and Economic Systems, The Great Transformation, provides a historical background to the structure of markets before the modern era. It is important to first differentiate between markets and the market economy in order to understand the factors that make up economies. The market economy is a self regulating system of markets that is directed by market prices and nothing but market prices (p. 43). Polanyi argues that having an economy of some form is essential to the survival of a society, however, he notices that pervious societies successfully existed with no evidence of market control (p. 43). Max Weber was one of the first contemporary historians to reject the idea that primeval economies provide no significance to modern economy, he emphasizes the changelessness of man as a social being (Polanyi, 1944, p. 46). Polanyi (1944) explains that man s economy, as a rule, is submerged in his social relationships meaning that individuals place their social standings, social claims, and social assets at higher value, rather than economic motives/material goods (p. 46). In primitive economies, production and distribution is enforced through the principles of reciprocity and redistribution. Reciprocity is observed in families and kinship; this is explained through an example of Trobriand Islanders of Western Melanesia culture (Polanyi, 1944, p. 47). This civilization uses a matrilineal system; the male in the family is recognized for his good behaviour if he offers the best crops to his sister and her family; however, if he fails, his reputation (which is extremely valuable) is at risk and he will not earn material benefits in exchange (Polanyi, 1944, p. ... • 13. Tribal Relations Between The United States Essay Introduction Tribal relations to the United States are similar to that of a ward and his guardian. This sentiment was proclaimed in 1831 in Cherokee Nation V. Georgia. The United States has been attempting to integrate Native populations into the American systems since the first settlements arrived from across the sea. Original tribal status was that of dependent domestic nations 1. Recent history has changed the status of Native America to one of self determination and sovereignty. This status was not determined by the US Constitution as Native Tribes were sovereign people before Colonialization. The Unites States solidified the direct relationship between the Native Nations and the Federal Government with the Indian Commerce Clause of 1879. The Commerce Clause allowed Congress alone the power to regulate commerce between the United States and the Indian tribes.2 The Marshall Trilogy, Chief Justice Marshall s Supreme Court cases designated the limits of tribal sovereignty for the Native populations being surrounded by the newly formed United States of America. In the first case, Johnson v. M Intosh, the Court recognized Indian nations do not have a right to enter into treaties without federal approval.3 In Cherokee Nation v. Georgia, Chief Justice Marshal defined the Indian nations as domestic dependent nations. 4 In the final case, Worcester v. Georgia, the Supreme Court recognized the Native nation s right to self govern releasing any control by the States ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In any organized structure, business, or grouping these two key positions will be represented. Chaleff (2009) stated that if one looked up the subject of leadership they would be bombarded with numerous titles on the subject, but if one looked up the follower they would most likely only find the subject as it relates to leaders. The purpose of this paper is to identify the role of the follower as compared with a leader. This is followed by examine two types of interaction between leadership and followers. These interactions will be illustrated through clinical situations using staff nurses. Finally this paper will examine the power and responsible of a staff nurse as a follower without any official authority. Effective Follower Leader To understand the concept of an effective follower one must first examine the leader as it has much more information write about it. Porter O Grady and Malloch (2013) are quick to point out what a leader is not and that is a manager. They discuss how a leader and manager though commonly thought to be the same thing are in fact very different with a manager be a position that is gained or granted and leadership is a quality and ability to inspire others (Porter O Grady Malloch, 2013). Dr. Michael Blelch (2014) states that during his study of the theory of leadership he discovered that the concept was constantly changing, evolving and adapting. There are several types of ... • 16. Learning From Traditional Classroom And Learning I have experience in both learning from the traditional classroom and learning from the online setting. I can easily identify the differences between these two types of learning environments. The two main differences can be divided by two categories which are flexibility and class discussions (Bethel University, n.d.) ?There is far less flexibility in a traditional classroom (Bethel University, n.d.). As a formal student of a traditional classroom learning environment, I had to physically drive to the college, carry my textbooks everywhere, and attend class at a designated day and time each week. Since I didn t have any children, I didn t have to be concerned with finding a babysitter (Bethel University, n.d.). At the end of each school day, I had to pay for parking as I exited the campus parking garage. Online learning can be conducted anytime and anywhere that has internet connection. The greater flexibility involved with online learning can cause a lot of stress to a student. It would be easy for a student to forget the weekly deadlines and the upcoming schedules (Bethel, University, n.d.). Students can suffer from a perceived lack of guidance, may experience isolation, and will likely have technology issues from time to time. (Bethel University, n.d., p. 7). • 17. Fiscal Control Boards And Its Effects On The Cities Under... RESEARCH DESIGN Model and hypothesis Fiscal control boards have different impacts on the cities under which they function. My hypothesis is that the level of structural considerations such as citizen participation, socioeconomic factors, and the legal framework taken into account in the board s policy making procedures affect its level of effectiveness. These features of control boards are then used to analyze Puerto Rico s case in terms of strengths and weaknesses in its potential success in addressing structural problems in Puerto Rico s economy. In terms of comparing the cases, I will take three variables: citizen input, consideration of legal structure, and socioeconomic factors when comparing the policies that were passed and their outcomes. The data used will be provided by different official documents and scholars analyzing cases of emergency financial measures and fiscal control boards mentioned in the literature review. To test this relationship, I will perform a comparative case study of Puerto Rico s fiscal control board with that of Washington D.C, and Detroit focusing on these aspects. These examples allow me to investigate the factors involved in the policies introduced by the boards under such different contexts. By choosing these cases, I am also able to control for factors that other analysts consider imperative, such as the level of citizen input, socioeconomic conditions, and legal structure. Regarding the level of citizen input, I will be examining the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Connectivity And Topology Of Wireless Networks Connectivity and topology control: Some approaches tried to improve the system reliability by carefully designing the connectivity or topology of wireless networks. Paper [50] addresses the problem of fault tolerant deployment of wireless ad hoc networks. Based on the pre assumed transmission range, the authors propose a scheme to calculate the probability that a given network is k connected. Based on the intensive deployment, the redundant sensor nodes are used to cope the random working nodes failure. Following the similar idea, a distributed algorithm is proposed in [52]. By deploying calculated necessary number of extra nodes in the given network, the objective of fault tolerant topology control can be achieved. However, due to the limited space and cost constraint, adding redundant nodes to a deployed WSN may not always be an acceptable solution. Another fault tolerant topology control algorithm is presented by Li and Hou in [53], in which a spanning subgraph is computed by each node. If a pair of vertices is not k connected, an extra edge will be added between these two vertices. The authors further prove that the resultant global network is k connected. In [54], by considering the mobility of nodes, the author shows the mobility resilient topology control protocols. The author classifies the topology control protocols into two types. 1) In this case, the topology is built and maintained by each node based on its own knowledge about its neighbors. Supreme Court justices agreed that the constitutions first, fourth, ninth, and fourteenth amendments protect an individual s rights of privacy against state laws. Things such as marriage, contraception, and so forth fall under such laws. It was found that abortion falls under these privacy laws, as well. This was a huge win for women s rights. Not only did women gain the right to make a safe and legal decision about their own bodies, but it was also an important win because at the time one in five maternal deaths were due to illegal abortions (Abortion, Issues and Controversies). Now that abortion is legal, and has been for over forty years, the maternal death rate is much lower and the number of abortions is actually declining (Rachel, Jones, et al.). Indisputably, General Motors has a duty of care. The responsibility of a manufacturer was established in Donaghue v. Stevenson, (1932) A.C. 562, which established the principle that manufacturers have the duty to ensure that the ultimate consumers of their product do not sustain injuries as a result of the use of their products. Manufacturers of goods and services are subject to a high duty of care given that these businesses commercially profit from the purchase and use of their products. 2) What is the standard of care that should be applied in this particular instance? The reasoning is, that in a perfectly competitive market a large number of sellers offer homogeneous or undifferentiated products (Perloff, p.220), thus the demand for these products or services is perfectly elastic as the consumer can easily substitute one firm s for another. Consequently, each firm can sell its product or service at the market price but as soon as a firm raises the price, its customers would wander off to another supplier. In the supply and demand model an increase in prices can usually also be achieved by reducing production and therefore supply (Perloff, p.27). In a perfectly competitive market, however, there are no barriers to entry, which means that new firms could enter the market to satisfy the excess demand, thereby keeping the market price unchanged (Perloff, p.242). These conditions make the producer side a price taker , which is the definition of a competitive market (Perloff, p.220), and certainly benefit the consumers, thus welfare indeed is maximized in a competitive market. 3.1 The Welfare Concept When a market lacks competition the consumer suffers. The most extreme scenario of lacking competition is that of a monopoly. • 31. Climate Change And Climate Adaptation One of the most challenging global issue facing today s society is climate change, it is affecting all regions across the globe, with some areas experiencing extreme weather events and heavy rainfall, whereas other regions are hit with droughts and heat waves. Climate change can be defined as a large scale, long term shift in the planet s weather patterns or average temperatures. (metoffice). Consequently, a range of challenges are occurring to not only human settlements, but more importantly to the natural environment as well. It is becoming increasingly important for countries across the globe to attempt to adapt and mitigate from the effects of climate change. Climate mitigation is any action taken to permanently eliminate or reduce the long term risk and hazards of climate change to human life, property. (Global greenhouse warming.com). It can include enhancing the sinks of greenhouse gases, as well as reducing the sources. Whereas climate adaptation, is referring to the ability of a system to adjust to climate change (including climate variability and extremes) to moderate potential damage, to take advantage of opportunities, or to cope with the consequences. (Global greenhouse warming.com). Adaptation can include improving road infrastructure, so it would be able to withstand hotter temperatures, or just simply change in behaviour shifts such as using less water. These two methods are essential and can be connected through strategic town planning, and can be used to tackle climate change, through an array of implementations which will not only prepare the globe, but also reduce the impacts of climate change. Urban areas not only have a profound part in contributing to climate change, but these areas have also become extremely vulnerable to the impacts of climate change, as more than half of the world s population are living in urban areas and global rate of urbanisation is evermore increasing. Cities can be met with an increase in frequency of storms, flooding, landslides and heat waves. (132) Tapscott makes some very unique observations, but there was one norm, I felt was more important, innovation. There are many reasons why, but the one main reason is the creation of new ideas. Without the innovated ideas, we wouldn t have the advanced technology we possess today. Think about the world without cell phones, no web, or no medical tools?
