The Declaration of Independence reflected republican values by establishing a republican form of government where people have rights and a say in their governance. This had mixed effects on women's roles. Ideally, the principles of equality and natural rights could be interpreted to include women. However, in practice women did not gain political rights and their revolutionary roles were still largely in a supportive, private capacity such as boycotts rather than direct political participation. So while the Declaration set forth republican ideals that could benefit women, true equality was not immediately realized.

Here are the key points regarding criminal justice policy making:
- Criminal justice policy is influenced by public perceptions of conviction rates and arrests. However, relying solely on these perceptions raises doubts about the appropriateness of punishment severity.
- Research shows perceived probability of arrest is related to subsequent criminal behavior. Those with lower perceived chances of arrest are more likely to commit crimes in the future.
- Effective policy making requires considering empirical evidence on what influences criminal behavior rather than just public perceptions, to help reduce crime in a sensible way. Relying on perceptions alone could result in policies that are either too lenient or overly harsh.

4. A Study Interview On Relationship Between Education And...
Holding the idea of collaboration in policy making, Tell, (2012) through the study interview in
relation to education quality, teachers applauded the value of teachers and students participation in
educational policy making as one of the components of education boosts. While asserting their
point, teachers pinpointed that:
[...T] he answer to [the] quality of education is largely laid within their jurisdiction. The government
and other stakeholders can put forward all theories to improve education but that will just be
another merry go round, because we (teachers) and our students are the only group of stakeholders
who have the genuine answer. (Telli, 2012, p) Again teachers bring into attention the idea of what
Sahlberg, (2007) called the culture of trust simply, a situation where people with high authority in
education trust other groups such as principals, parents and their communities, who have the quest
of providing the unsurpassed education for their children and youth (p, 157). In general, the
primary idea of shared policy making, expands further than teachers, students, or parents to
include multidisciplinary groups. Perhaps Choi, Pak, (2006) put it clear that: The objectives of
multiple corrective approaches can support in resolving real world or complex problems, to
provide different perspectives on problems (p. 351). In addition, collaboration in policy making
provides players an opportunity of additional learning of the problem in education, and

5. Personal Perception of Organized Crime
Personal Perception of Organized Crime In answering this question of what Angie s personal
perception of organized crime, it takes me back to the days of organized groups that united for
financial gain, control over business, law enforcement, the public and anyone or anything that they
could rule. Organized crimebrings about change in a community, hurt, danger, and sometimes
death. When thinking of organized crime it takes us back to the days of the Mafia. The days of
Al Capone comes to mind more then any other organized criminal. This gave a perception as to
what organized crime consists of and this is how viewed. The alien conspiracy theory posits that
organized crime (the Mafia) gained prominence during the 1860s in Sicily and that... Show more

A more specific criminological definition would refer to groups that (1) utilize violence or threats
of violence, (2) provide illicit goods that are in public demand, and (3) assure immunity for their
operators through corruption and enforcement. (Hagan, 2010: 300)
Conclusion
Thus, the organized criminal activity becomes transnational if it is connected to illegal operations
on moving material and non material means through frontiers, which bring an essential economic
gain. The transnational organized crime uses the favorable market conditions of other states,
significant distinctions in systems of criminal justice of the different countries, and penetration
into their legal economy with the help of corruption and violence (Zorin, 2009). In researching on
this issue, the conclusion that has arrived is as long as we live, we will always have organized
crime. However, if we do not participate in these acts it ill not prosper.

India was the world s largest country in the beginning and was accounted for about 32.9% of

7. Scarlet Letter And Symbolism
The Scarlet Letter and Symbolism Nathaniel Hawthorne uses many forms of symbolism in his
book The Scarlet Letter. Symbolism is, according to Merriam Webster, the art or practice of using
symbols, especially by investing things with a symbolic meaning or by expressing the invisible or
intangible by means of visual or sensuous representations. This means that the author was using
objects to represent an action or idea. The symbols used in his book is either all physical or visible
objects. Many of the symbols in the book are about characters.Nathaniel s ideas came from his
bonds with the Puritans. According to CliffsNotes, the Puritans had great difficulty in loving the
sinner and hating the sin . With the Puritans strong hatred for sin,... Show more content on

This woman was brave enough to stand on the scaffold and confess her sin, but she never did say
who the partner was in the act of the crime. Hester was also a symbol of peace. Towards the end of
the book, she ends up turning into an adviser to some of the townspeople. Her kindness towards
the town made most of them look at her from a different perspective. She would bring the homeless
clothes that she made for them and they would criticize her afterwards. Children would call her
names their parents would call her and women would give her the silent treatment or yell at her
(Hathorne). That all changed towards the end. Instead of thinking of her letter as adultery it was
now known as able . Another symbol that Nathaniel used was the sunlight. The sunlight was known
as happiness, joy, and truth. Sunlight would not be around Hester because of the scarlet letter, but it
was okay around Pearl. Mother, said little Pearl, the sunlight does not love you. It runs away and
hides itself, because it is afraid of something on your bosom (Hawthorne 202). After Hester takes
off her scarlet letter the sunshine came out directly on top of Hester. It was no longer a dark
place for her. As soon as her letter was put back on, the bright sun also disappeared. The sunlight is
a symbol of truth in one particular way. Mr. Dimmesdale confesses his sin in the sunlight. All truth
was let out as soon as he confessed. Not everyone

8. Sub Saharan Afric Developing The World With Its Most...
INTRODUCTIONBackground Sub Saharan Africa continues to present the world with its most
formidable developmentchallenge. During the last two decades the number of the poor in Africa
has doubled from150 million to 300 million, more than 40 percent of the region s population. About
one thirdof the region s population lives in countries affected by or emerging from conflict.
Moreover,HIV/AIDS continues to threaten African lives and livelihoods. Africais the only region
thatremains behind on most of the MDGs. On current trends it will fall far short of meeting
the2015 targets, (The World Bank, 2005).Africa has come a long way in its efforts to achieve
sustainable development. Lessons of thecontinent s development over the last two decades
consistently highlighted the need for moreintensive efforts to effectively address some of its major
development constraints. Acombination of ineffective policies, outright mismanagement (in some
countries), heavyexternal debt burden, poor governance, and conflicts precipitated the massive
economicdecline in the early 1980s. The recovery in the latter half of the decade was partly due
tomajor economic policy reforms as well as growing socio political pluralism and economicstability,
which were consolidated in the decade of the 1990s. Yet, much still remains to bedone, as the
African continent entered the 21st century faced with numerous developmentchallenges. Some of
these challenges

9. Monroe Doctrine Dbq Essay
James Monroe, the current president in 1823, read a message at a meeting with the 18th Congress
on December 2, 1832. This message as we know is called the Monroe Doctrine. This message
included a warning to the European nation not to meddle with the Western Hemisphere, saying that
the American continents, are henceforth not to be considered as subjects for future colonization by
any European powers. (Web Guides) It also was a way to increase nationalism. At the time, James
Monroe mentioned that the main goal of this message was to meet the problems and concerns at
the time. (Milestone Documents)
In this message, he mentioned four points that were to be followed, if they were not followed the
United States would react to that situation in a way they felt was persuasive. The first point says,
that the United States will not interrupt anything involving the European nation. This includes wars
and internal affairs. The second point mentions, that the United States will also not ... Show more

that others did not. One concern was that these two places believed the doctrine was a way to
restore Latin America. The other concern was towards Russia and their territorial ambitions. As an
outcome the foreign minister of Britain, George Canning, mentioned to join the U.S. and British
declaration. This declaration overall was to stop colonization in Latin America. James Monroe
liked this idea, along with presidents before Monroe. The former presidents that were also for the
joint declaration were Thomas Jefferson and James Madison. There were than people that were
against this declaration. Secretary of State, John Quincy Adams, believed that this was not the
smartest idea. He argued that the United States should have their own declaration apart from the

10. Similarities Between The Simpsons And Family Guy
We ve all seen these adult animated sitcoms, or at least heard about them. But when you think of
the legends in this category you need look no further than Matt Groening s classic The Simpsons,
or the more recent twist Family Guy created by Seth Macfarlane. The Simpsons and Family Guy
are American comical cartoons that share many similarities and differences. Although the two
shows portray a dysfunctional American family and have a similar way of delivering humor, they
both contrast in their targeted audience and characters.
The first and most noticeable resemblance is that The Simpsons and Family Guy s humor can be
indistinguishable in many ways. One of them being their sarcastic way of portraying pop culture,
politics, and ethnic or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Firstly, The Simpsons humor is family oriented and aims to target different generations. For
instance, hidden insults and crude jokes that only older generations would understand is not
included in the show. Also, the Simpsons includes cultural references that most of the present
generations would comprehend, which means that The Simpsons don t include too much current
pop culture and media related that older generations won t recognize. And even with the adult
orientated content, the show is suitable for the whole family to watch, even the young ones, though
they won t grasp some of the political and cultural jokes mentioned in the show.
Family Guy on the other hand does not target the whole family but the younger generations of
teenagers and young adults. Which is due to the use of crude jokes and blue humor. Also, Family
Guy uses current problems of the government, pop culture and the media. And just exploit them
with irony and sarcasm. What really captured my attention is how the show became darker, more
violent and mean spirited in recent seasons, which seems like a desperate try to attract more
childish teenagers to the

12. Maya Angelou Analysis
The Life of Maya Angelou
In the beginning of the sixteenth century, racism was something new that came about and through
time has affected a numerous amount of people in America. Not only has it impacted people s
lives, but it has created a stigma against other cultures. Maya Angelou the author of I Know Why
the Caged Bird Sings recounts what she went through in her life time and how she overcame racism
through the different surroundings she was exposed to, the use of polysyndetons, and the tone
throughout the novel.
To begin with, this story takes place in the 1930 s and 1940 s around the time the Great Depression
and World War II began. Maya the main character in the book, lived in the southern area of Stamps,
Arkansas with her grandmother and brother, Bailey, and uncle. While living in Stamps, the white
people of the town resent the black community and wanted no affiliation with them. The
powerless against the powerful, the poor against the rich, the worker against the worked for and
the ragged against the well dressed. (Angelou 25). The author s purpose for her choice of words
was to express without a filter the degree of racism exactly the way she experienced it in her life
time. Maya notices how in Stamps the black community was seen as second class citizens at
best and how the whites ruled the town. The white people in stamps treated them with very little
respect they were judged by the way they looked, dressed and acted. Around the time the blacks
had to sacrifice a lot since the paying was not so much they had to put so much dedication and
hard work into their job and life to become successful. The theme of racism is common
throughout I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings because it displays how it felt to live during a
time of segregation and the struggle it provided to prove one s intelligence, beauty, and
independence. The author claims that looks should not define people and their success in life
because no one should be judged by their culture and values.
In addition, Angelou used polysyndetons in I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings to portray how
white people viewed black society. It could all be true that we were dumb and lazy and dirty and
unlucky and worst of all that god himself hated us

13. Twezers Lab Report
The predators in this experiment were three different types of tools, a tweezer, a wooden
clothespin, and a clothes clip. At the start of the first round, there were ten beans for each
different type of bean. Nearly all the white beans were taken out of the first round, only one
survived. This was because the white beans were large, non slippery, and easy to catch. Red
beans and green beans were not as easy to catch. Based on the data and the graph, the tweezers
captured the most beans in this round and the clothes clip had the least (w/ only one white bean).
In the second round, every white bean was captured and many red beans were captured. The
green beans were not captured as often as either other bean. From this, it can be concluded that
the tweezers are the only predator that can efficiently collect green beans based on the graph. As
of round two, no other predator has managed to capture a green bean. Also, the clothes clip
captured zero beans this round. From the data so far, it can be inferred that the tweezers have the
highest ability to capture prey, while the clothes clip has the least (clothespin is in between).... Show

It is interesting to point out that the clothes clip has only captured one bean the past two rounds
and had captured nine red beans this round. This is because the clothes clip gained a learned
behavior that allowed it to capture beans much more efficiently. From now on, only green beans
are left and this could mean the extinction of both the clothespin and clothes clip because only the
tweezers can efficiently capture the green beans. This is very demonstrative of the process of
natural selection and how organisms with the advantageous trait for survival will survive and pass
on their genes, while those with disadvantageous traits will not live to

14. The Argumensos Of Mario Savio s Free Speech Movement
On December 2nd, 1964, Mario Savio delivered his most famous speech on the steps of Sproul
Hall on the campus of UC Berkeley. His address, most famously known for it s passage on The
Operation of the Machine , called university students and TAs to participate in civil disobedience in
order to disrupt parts of the university s functioning. This effort was to show the administration that
the students were autonomous human beings, and not raw material to be bought by some client of
the University. The conflict between the administration and the students began with the banning of
the designated free speech area on campus. Students began to move closer to the heart of campus in
protest, setting up tables for organizations like FSM (the Free Speech Movement) in Sproul Plaza.
These actions resulted in the indefinite suspensions of Mario Savioand seven other students. In an
incident in which student protesters surrounded a police car and gave speeches atop it, the
President of the university, Clark Kerr, began negotiations with Savio and the students.
However, Kerr shot down the FSM s proposal for a committee, and tensions between the FSM
and the administration increased over the next month. FSM began to have rallies on the steps
of Sproul Hall every day at noon in order to put pressure on the administration to grant them their
terms on the return of free speech areas. On December 2nd at one of these rallies, Mario Savio
delivered his speech. The most memorable lines were as follows: There is a time when the
operation of the machine becomes so odious, makes you so sick at heart, that you can t take
part; you can t even passively take part, and you ve got to put your bodies upon the gears and

15. Biblical Theology Of Worship. Throughout Our Time In Church,
Biblical Theology of Worship Throughout our time in Church, and here at Moody, it is hard to go
through it without being told that a priority we should put in our relationship with God is that we
should worship him. But what does that mean and how do we do it? What does the bible say about
worshiping God? Worshipis the feeling or expression of reverence and adoration for God. I think
that we can show that through our daily actions and also through singing to God and praying to
him, as we most commonly see in Church When we envision worship in our minds, we commonly
think of people in a church singing songs to a powerpoint presentation. But to think that is the
only way that we can worship God is false in every sense of the word. A... Show more content on

If they knew why we do what we do in worship on Sunday then they would be much more
entertained. When we looked at different things that should be included into Corporate Worship
on Sunday morning, what better place to look than at some of the churches that Paul wrote to in
his epistles, because apparently we aren t the only ones that are struggling to find out what the
best way of planning corporate worship is. The first verse that anyone goes to for Corporate
Worship is found in Colossians 3:16 when Paul tells the Colossians to, Let the word of Christ
dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and
hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. The first step that Paul gives
to the Colossians is to let the word of Christ dwell in you richly , showing there is a connection
between Corporate Worship and the reading of the Word of God. It almost appears as if Paul is
saying we need to read the Word first before we can all come together in worship of God. Then
Paul says we should be teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, This section shows
us two things: teaching, and fellowship. We need to be taught about the word of God and also we
need to keep in touch with other believers and go through life with them, learning from them and
vice versa. Hebrews 10:25 is an example of this, saying we shouldn t be neglecting seeing each
other, but instead should be

16. Student Growth Mindset
A growth mindset for any student can be their key to success. Many students feel as if they can t
achieve the goal(s) that they have set for themselves when learning and trying to get passing grades.
How can the Anaheim Union High School District (AUHSD) increase their students academic
performance? The AUHSD can increase its academic skills by encouraging students to having a
growth mindset. Students are pressured to make passing grades and know everything they learn,
but how can some students learn when not all students have the same growth mindset. That s where
parents should come in and encourage their child letting them know that they are intelligent and can
do everything that they plan to achieve in life. The key to success for any student... Show more

Students need to start letting themselves know that they can do what it is the desire to achieve
even when others don t believe in them so they can continue in the path of the success they planned
for themselves. In the article The Secret to Raising Smart Kids by Carol S. Dweck he states, I
realized that these different types of students not only explain their failures differently, but they also
hold different theories of intelligence. The helpless ones believe that intelligence is a fixed trait:
you have only a certain amount, and that s that. Dweck s statement brings out a fact that every
student in the AUHSD knows about. His statement referring to how students view themselves is
very common in Latino communities like the ones that every school in the AUHSD is in.
Likewise, bullying is also a huge impact on a student s growth in mindest. Not everyone of these
students have that one person that motivates them to increase their academic performance. This is
why everyone in school should encourage each other to reach that growth mindset. If we eliminate
bullying in the whole school district everyone would feel comfortable in expanding their
knowledge. It s something that no one wants to face because they don t have that full potential to
get to where others are. In that case, if we all come together and help one another no one would
feel left out and everyone would want to try and acknowledge the knowledge they would

serious mental illnesses that are debilitating and require constant medical care and according to
the American Psychiatric Association(APA) hording and internet disorders are just a couple of
new diagnosis that they have added to the manual of mental disorder or DSM. But is this

Another DSM category is bereavement which has been treated over the years by considering
normal grief not pathological, therefore the DSM repathologiesed it and allow people to go to
psychiatrist when they lose someone in their life and the psychiatrist diagnoses them for their lose
even though it might be a normal self limiting kind of sadness.
Realistically, diagnosis of a mental illness is only a medical diagnostic tool for the physician and it
does not taking into account what the average person is dealing with or living with when they
have a mental illness. One of the flaws of mental illness diagnosis is that it does not address the
questions like what is the life quality of a patient or what other issues could arise in that patient
based on these diagnoses.
However, there are some drawbacks to the diagnosis of a mental illness there is benefit to it as
well in such a way that it helps destigmatized and takes away labels from people who live with
actual, severe mental illnesses. Diagnosis of a mental disorder also helps acknowledgement of a
mental disorder from insurance companies and federal governments for coverage and funding
respectively and helps people to get support and become aware that their behavioral problem is
more than just a weak will or an odd behavior, at the same time diagnosis does not mean getting
good treatment as well and in my opinion breaking down mental illnesses into

18. The Side Show Analysis
The movie Parable perplexed me about the meaning behind it at first. I knew the mime riding on
the donkey was supposed to depict Jesus, but I did not understand what the mime was doing in
each of the episodes. The episode where the mime helps the Roustabout carry the buckets of water
up the hill to the elephants was confusing to me. The dunk tank scene was also very confusing to
me, as well as the side show and the puppets. The only scenes I understood from the beginning was
when the mime was hung in the harness and when Magnus disguised himself as Jesus. I understood
that the mime hanging in the harness was suppose to relate to the crucifixion. I also understood that

I learned that the episode where the mime helps the Roustabout is supposed to show Jesus
helping those in need and lifting a burden. The mime lifted the Roustabout s burdens by carrying
the heavy buckets of water up the steep hill. I later understood after the class discussion that the
dunk tank scene is meant to show targeting those who are different, bullying, and racism. The
man throwing the balls targeted the black man in a form of racism. The Side Show episode later
became clear to me after the discussion. This episode shows exploitation, which is making
money from someone else s misfortune or taking advantage of people. The Side Show charged
people money to get in and watch the magician place knives into the box which his assistant was
in. The Puppets episode later became clear to me after the discussion, also. This episode shows
the audience of the circus leaving as the mime placed himself in the harness just like Jesus
followers left. I later understood that the man on the donkey riding along the road at the beginning
but off the road at the end is supposed to tell you to not get sidetracked by following the wrong
path, hence the man riding on a different path than everyone else.

Cardiovascular disease is the number one killer in the United States, causing about 610,000 deaths
yearly (Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2015). Cardiovascular disease is defined as a
group of disorders damaging the heart and blood vessels, usually involving the blockage of vessels,
which in turn harm the heart (WHO, 2015). A 2011 American Heart Association statement
predicted that without intervention, 40% of United States adults will have at least one form of
Cardiovascular diseaseby 2030. A large portion of these deaths by cardiovascular disease is due to
the sedentary population. To better prevent cardiovascular disease, the Physical Activity Guidelines
for Americans Advisory Committee stated that adults should complete about 150 minutes of
moderate intensity physical activity, or 75 minutes of vigorous intensity physical activity weekly
(Barry, Blair, Church, Hooker, Sui, Warren, 2010). Research has shown that meeting these
recommendations is linked with lower cardiovascular disease risk, as well as reduced risk of
mortality. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that only about 20.3% of
Americans meet these guidelines. These statistics show that the majority of the United States
population does not get nearly the amount of physical activity they need. However, even though
many people are not doing the recommended amount of physical activity, this may not mean that
they are living a sedentary life. Living a sedentary lifestyle is

20. The Internet Without Net Neutrality And The Internet
Net neutrality is the principle that all internet traffic should be treated equally by the internet
service providers. This policy is beneficial because all users of the internet will receive equal
internet speeds and fair treatment. Taking away this equal treatment would defeat the purpose of
an evolving system. This principle was created by Tim Wu in 2003 as an extension of of the
common carrier concept which described the role of telephones in society. Net Neutrality towards
applications and data has been one of the main reason for the Internets success. It has granted the
Internet s amazingly innovative and democratic nature. With net neutrality it is the internet s
guiding principle, it is our safe guard and it preserves our right to communicate freely online. The
internet without Net Neutrality changes the image of what the internet is today. Without net
neutrality, phone and cable companies make the calls and decide which websites, content or
applications succeed. Overall the government and all service providers should treat all data the
same. With net neutrality it is meant to show that internet providers like AT T, Comcast, and
Verizon, which also have their own television and streaming video services, can t create slow
lanes for competing services. They can not mess up others in favor of their own (Klint Finley
2017) Without net neutrality, the days when broadband companies and cell carriers could let traffic

after reading the book, I found to be incomplete. Fortunately, I have read the book and my view of
this adventure has changed from a less romantic one to a more realist thought. I believe that what
William Goldmanwas trying to tell us, in his book version of the story, is that life is made up of
reality, sprinkled with what I would call romanticism of the realist. What I mean by this is that
even realists must have a desire to believe in Twoo wuv. In the end what we find is that even

a late bloomer even though he had no idea what that meant. We see in this part of the book that his
life was full of dreams, things he hoped for and wished for.
Shortly after this we find him with pneumonia, unable to go to school and confined to his bed.
One day he is surprised to see his dad come into his room with a book and without announcing

24. The Unity Of The Body Summary
The Unity of the Body In I Corinthians 12:12 26 Paul describes the body of Christ and how it
functions. Throughout this description, he states that the unity of the body of Christ is not
achieved without the presence of all its parts, such as the eye, ear, foot, or hand (I Corinthians
12:12 26, New American Standard Bible). In using the analogy of the Body, in a sense, Paul
describes the importance of all the body s parts and how without one part another function is
handicapped or dysfunctional. Within this short passage, Paul touches on how the body is unified,
how the many parts work together, their importance, their interdependence, and interrelationships,
and how each body part effects or cares for each other. The human body as described in the
passage of scripture mentioned is a united whole (I Corinthians 12:12,20, New American Standard
Bible). One can see the wholeness of G d s magnificent creation through how if one part of the
body is taken away or damaged repercussions of the other body parts and systems ensue. As one can
see through a vitamin deficiency such as vitamin D, which in its active states functions as a
hormone and thus functions within the endocrine system, if this vitamin or hormone is subdued in
its function as it would be if deficiency occurred, the endocrine system would not be able to
function at is peek states (Vitamin D). Another example of the unity of the human body that Paul
seems to be alluding to in this letter is the fact that the

At first glance, Joss Whedon s Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the hour long TV series which
premiered in 1997 and is now in its third season, bears little resemblance to the book which started
the vampire craze Bram Stoker s Dracula, published a century earlier. And yet, looks can be
deceiving. Although the trendy and often skimpy clothing and bandied about pop culture
references of Buffy clearly mark the series as a product of a far different culture than that of the
Victorian England of Dracula, the underlying tensions of the two texts are far similar than one
might think. Beneath the surface differences in the treatment of their heroines, the two texts ... Show

about gender roles present in their cultures of origin. Buffy Summers, a teenage girl, is the Vampire

hunt the vampires, to stop the spread of evil (Giles/Buffy, Welcome to the Hellmouth ) and her

It is not unusual to associate the Renaissance with Italy, where art was rapidly becoming more and
more realistic as artists embraced the Roman style of their past. This trend, however, was by no
means exclusive to Italy. In Northern European countries, other artists were also developing their
technique. And, because they had no access to Roman or Greek sculptures, their art changed in a
different way. Artists began to pay closer attention to the subjects of their work. Van Eyck mastered
this skill, and his Ghent Altarpiece shows his ability to perfect even the tiniest details in his work.

It was stolen during WWII by the Nazis, and one of the panels is still missing. It only takes one
glance at the masterpiece to understand why it is so desirable. Van Eyck is famous for his ability
to be both a microscope and a telescope, showing detail in every single element of the painting
without fail. The Renaissance was a time of rebirth in the art world, when both new and old
techniques were used. Van Eyck s triptych perfectly embodies this idea in his use of shapes.
While he uses many organic shapes, the panels mostly feature geometric shapes. Geometric
shapes were typical in medieval art, but Van Eyck s use of them was not. He alters them how he
pleases until they fit into his work, whereas in the past geometric shapes were used with little to
no thought about how realistic they seemed. In the far right panel, Eve holds her pregnant belly.
While the largest part of her stomach and her breasts are essentially a circle, Van Eyck uses
shadows and light to blend them into her skin, creating a more human effect. In the second
rightmost upper panel, an angel plays what appears to be an organ, a part of which seems to be a
wooden triangle. It would have been easy to thoughtlessly paint in a triangle, but Van Eyck refuses
to sacrifice perspective for shape, and uses light, shadow, and perspective to ensure that the triangle

A tax policies represent key resource allocator between the public and private sectors in a country. It
is usually imposed on individuals and entity that make up a country. The funds provided by tax are
used by the states to support certain state obligations such as education systems, health care

CHALLENGES OF THE DRAFT NATIONAL TAX POLICY
A thorough examination of the current national taxation policy reveal that it is comprehensive
when compared with earlier attempts at designing a policy. However, there are some perceived
challenges that this draft is likely going to face because of the experiences of past taxation laws.
These challenges are as follows:
Administrative Challenge. Experience has shown that the institutional capacity to administer taxes
effectively is woefully lacking in this country. Procedures, reinforced by third party audits, appear to
ensure that taxes are paid and received albeit with potentially serious and costly internal lags.
However, Nigeria lacks capacity to assess the reasonableness of the returns submitted by taxpayers,
including costs and staffing, skills, pay scales, and other funding, and computer and Information
Technology (IT) infrastructure. Meanwhile the current draft has not put in place an administrative
strategy.

Globalization is defined as the act of globalizing, or extending to other or all parts of the word. In
other words, globalization is that the world has experienced two great waves of gobalization driven
by the free trade policies of major trading countries and falling transportation costs.
The first wave was from roughly the down of the Industrial Revolution in the 19 century to the
World War I, and second has run since 1947. International trade and international migration grew
substantially during the first wave, but world trade increased even more rapidly during the first 25
years of the World War II wave. Both periods of gobalization faced significant suspicion about the
results of globalization for labor conditions.
Therefore, the prupose of this paper is to compare the international company s workers human

Mandalas are most commonly referred to as a T ibetan symbol. Christian mandalas can be seen

tradition can be found in rosette windows, on the domes decorating various houses of God and in
the circular labyrinths on the floors of the cathedrals. Mandalas also originated in Slavic culture.

Also, mandalas are a representation of a particular deity or even a grouping of them, which could
range from a few to thousands. In those cases, mandalas are formed with the main deity placed in
the center of it, while other deities are placed around the edges of the mandala. The main deity is
treated at the generative force of the mandala while the secondary deities are seen as manifestations
of the power of the center core image.
There are different practices where the symbol of the deity is in the core of the mandala. It
continuously moves from the outside into the middle. Once one is in the center, the practitioner
connects with the central symbol and the person, he or she, is able to perceive all manifestations as
a part of a single underlying whole. They are then closer to understanding and reaching the stage of
enlightenment.
In essence the mandala contains geometric and organic forms. Also, they can have a special
meaning behind the person making the mandala. Mandalas represent the connection between our
inner worlds and outer reality. When creating your own mandala, it can be both inspirational and

Coca Cola is a leading beverage industry in the United States and many other countries in the

beverage, snack and cereal industries. As consumers, we have indulged in their products for
many years. My personal preference has always been Pepsi over Coke, which is why I was very
interested in conducting this analysis. Regardless of the results, I will always seek out a Diet
Pepsi over a Diet Coke and so will many of my physician friends at Children s Hospital who start

34. Role in Inducing and Maintaining the Pluripotency of Mice...
Several members of the zinc finger family of proteins are key components in the transcriptional
network maintaining pluripotency in embryonic stem cells. The mouse zinc finger protein 322a
(Zfp322a) is expressed in embryonic stem cells and the ICM. Thus Ma et al. 2014 hypothesized
that Zfp322a functions as a transcription factor in mice. Ma et al. (2014) discovered that Zfp322a
is an irreplaceable transcription factor which enhances the reprogramming ability of OKSM (Oct4,
Klf4, Sox2, and c Myc) and can replace Sox2 in OKSM in the generation of induced pluripotent
stem cells (iPSCs).
First, in order to determine whether or not Zfp322a is a transcription factor in mice, the authors
analyzed its expression in mouse embryonic stem (mES) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

A gene ontology search revealed that Zfp322a is involved in diverse cellular processes. A
microarray approach determined that Zfp322a is able to directly repress and activate a number of
the genes it binds. Importantly, this microarray approach confirmed the author s previous
observation that Zfp322a represses the MAPK cascade.
Previously, two nodes in the transcriptional network maintaining pluripotency were identified by
Chen et al. 2008. Interestingly however, Zfp322a did not preferentially interact with either the c
Myc or Sox2/Oct4 transcription factor clusters. Zfp322a s 10 C2H2 zinc finger domains bind the
major groove of DNA (Lodish et al. 2013), and may give Zpf322a the ability to bind a diverse
array of DNA sequences. In support of this hypothesis, no DNA consensus sequence for Zfp322a
binding was identified. Zfp322a co localized equally with all 12 of the transcription factors tested.
Coupled with Zfp322a s dynamic ability to concomitantly repress differentiation, these observations
suggest a more profound role for Zpf322a. From the genome wide analysis of Zfp322a regulation
the authors concluded that Zfp322a is an integral component in the pluripotency regulatory network.
Zfp322a may contribute to chromatin remodeling associated with maintenance of mES chromatin.
Ma et al. 2014 identified a large number of genes enriched with Zfp322a that were involved in
chromatin modification,

35. Why Do You Think Trophies Aren T For Everyone Essay
Naibeth Ayungua
Revision Assistant #1
Trophies aren t for Everyone
(An analysis of, if trophies should be given to everyone )
Society has shifted in the way competition has worked, and will continue to change its beliefs in
how we should treat competition in young people. Is it really necessary that every participant
should receive a trophy? Or should only those that accomplished the goal, earn one? In today s
youth activities, it has become an American tradition, to award all those that participate in the
activity, whether they win or not. This is perhaps a decision that many have faced, but in reality it
will teach the children about life. Because life isn t always fair, and there s nothing more atrocious
than giving a child a trophy for everything they do.
So now the question, Should kids get a trophy for participation? All in all, I oppose to the fact
that kids should earn a trophy for participating. For example, take the coach of a soccer team, he
should honor his team with treats after a well played season, but not trophies. Trophies are a sign
of accomplishment, and if a child gave the coach a terrible attitude, then they shouldn t deserve
one. It is as well as a little excessive. If you continue to give your child trophies for ... Show more

The main focus should be to learn how to play sports, how to listen to a coach and be part of a
team. That in fact is very true. Sports are important, but one will not always have them in life.
Being a loser isn t always necessary a bad thing. If you are given a trophy for everything you do,
you will not learn how it feels to lose. Losing makes people want to improve in what they aren t
successful in. This therefore is a motivator in what they want to be fortunate in and continue to

36. The Trend Of Citizen Journalism
The Trend of Citizen Journalism a Critical Development in Journalism
With the advent of low cost consumer photography equipment, including camera phones, citizen
journalism has become more widespread. During newsworthy incidents many people may be
present with the capability to snap a picture. This capability of photography at the scene of a
newsworthy event may produce information that can be helpful and vital depending on the nature
of the newsworthy event. While safety of the photographer is a concern the same concerns exist
for a professional journalist. The potential benefit of a mass capture of information by many
sources may far outweigh the negatives. If the photographer feels that their safety is not in
jeopardy and no un necessary risks are taken then photography is acceptable. In today s society, it
is up to the judgment and common sense of the witness to record whatever even they are observing.
Safety is a serious and growing concern of today s society. Many rules and safety concerns exist
today which were nonexistent in the past. Research, observation, and an overwhelming amount of
information has resulted in far more rules and regulations for today s citizens. Another part of our
progressing society has been the advancement and adoption of technology in our daily lives. Just
about everyone has a phone capable of taking pictures. The prevalence of cameras in the hands of
people differs from the past as recent as the 1990s where few people

37. Arguments For Raising Minimum Wage
Many people experience working minimum wage jobs. Even I have undergone working the
tedious, hard working jobs in which I felt the work and responsibility did not reflect my pay:
$7.25. Me, as a teenager, thought it was hard to manage on the $7.25 minimum wage, but imagine
someone who is working full time and supporting a family on minimum wageit seems impossible.
In The New York Times article, The Case for a Higher Minimum Wage
, The Editorial Board argues
that the federal minimum wage of $7.25 should be raised because it could help those who are in
need, increase the productivity of minimum wage employees, and help the American economy;
however, conservatives hinder the process. The Editorial Board makes a strong case to raise the
minimum wage to help many Americans by giving many statistics and facts, and
counterarguments, which makes the argument tenable and plausible. Within the article, many
statistics and facts are given to show that the minimum wage needs to be increased to help many
Americans economically. One fact is that approximately 27.8 million people would have a
higher wage if the Democratic proposition of raising the minimum wage from $7.25 to $10.10 (
The Case for a Higher Minimum Wage ). With this fact given in the article, it shows that a huge
number of people could be impacted positivity if the minimum wage were to increase in the
United States. If 27.8 million people receive a high wage, it could change their whole livelihoods
and how they raise

38. My Philosophy Of Small Groups Essay
Introduction Over the years, many models have been developed and implemented to endeavor to
make disciples. Some of the models have been effective and others have not. Among some of the
most biblical and efficient models are the ones that involve small groups. Within the small groups
models, they can be broken down into further detail, such as pastoral involvement, the church s
goal, missions mindedness, etc. In this paper, I will explain my philosophy of small groups in a
church and the importance of the relational group in authentic disciple making. I will also explain
how missional groups can help the body of Christ move out into the community. Finally, I will
summarize my status in regards to living in community with other believers and being missional
with that community. My Philosophy of Small Groups My personal philosophy of small groups is
scriptural based. Acts 2:46 says, And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and
breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart. As the
original church began, it is obvious from Acts chapter two and particularly from verse 46 that the
church met in unity in large groups. They actually used a two fold approach of meeting in large
group meetings and then in the homes for more intimate small group gatherings. Acts 2:46 clearly
shows the church gathering in homes, eating together, and continuing the work of the ministry.
Effective ministry is connecting with both God

39. The Desert Renewable Energy Conservation Plan Essay
What is the DRECP?
When Obama was elected President of the United States, he promised to protect the environment
we live in. His Climate Action Plan set out to increase energy efficiency, reduce carbon pollution
and expand of renewable energy sources. To accomplish a part of this, the government announced
approval of an action plan, the Desert Renewable Energy Conservation Plan DRECP . The DRECP
is a landscape level plan focusing on renewable energy and conservation on 22.5 million acres of
California desert land. The plan stretches over seven California counties, including Los Angeles,
San Diego and San Bernardino. The DRECP was developed in a joint effort by government
agencies such as, the Bureau of Land Management and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Local
governments, renewable energy developers and environmental organizations were also involved.
The DRECP goals could be split up into three major categories.
For renewable energy development, the Plan hopes to identify a common planning goal of
producing 20,000 megawatts by 2040, involving a range of different renewable energy
technologies. To locate new renewable energy development focus areas with suitable energy
resources as well as updating existing renewable energy sites. DRECP s focus for the ecological
side is to preserve, restore, and enhance natural communities and ecosystems and conserve sensitive
species (What is DRECP, 2016). As well as to locate development focus areas on disturbed lands

40. Research Paper On Grit Sticker
Most of you probably know how much I go to Grit. Probably due to the many Grit stickers I have
placed all over my stuff or my many snap chat stories of me there. Or just from how often I talk
about Grit and spinning. But one thing people don t understand is why I am obsessed with Grit. It
s not just another form of exercisefor me. There is so much more to it.
First off, spinning is a wonderful exercise in itself. A 45 minute class that makes you sweat a lot,
burn hundreds of calories and makes you feel good. What more can you ask for in a workout?
Spinning in simple is like dancing on a stationary bike with music and about 53 people from your
community around. It is not only a great exercise where you can have fun at but also a great way for

thought that it would be a passion of mine to eventually want to become an instructor. Never in a

changes, right? While being an instructor, you ride on the podium in front of the whole class and
let me tell you, riding on the podium is one of the best feelings I have ever felt. It is like that
feeling of freedom and an escape for me when I m up there. There is nothing more than the joy
of riding on the podium on Sundays at 10:45. Lastly, they have this special class called the
Karma Ride. What the Karma Ride is where it is between a 45 minute to an hour long class with
two of the instructors in which all of the profits go solely to their charity of the month. Even if
you decide to pay the least amount of $20, any profit they make from the Karma Ride goes
towards the charity. I have only ridden in two Karma rides so far. One was for Special Athletes
Foundation and the other was for the Down Syndrome Association. Not only you are getting a

41. President Herbert Hoover Essay
President Herbert Hoover
Herbert Clark Hoover was the 31st president of the United States.
During his first year in office the Wall Street crash of 1929 occurred. He was blamed for the
resulting collapse of the economy, and his unpopular policies brought an end to a brilliant career in
public office. After the inauguration of Franklin Delano Roosevelt in 1933, however, Hoover
remained a leading critic of the New Deal and a spokesman for the Republican party.
Early Life
Born on Aug. 10, 1874, the son of a blacksmith in the Iowa village of
West Branch, Hoover was orphaned at the age of eight and sent to live with an uncle in Oregon.
The uncle became wealthy, enabling Hoover to study mining engineering at Stanford University; he

This was a special wartime office, created to encourage American agricultural production and food
conservation and to coordinate a rational distribution of food. When the war ended in November
1918, President Woodrow Wilson sent Hoover back to
Europe to direct the American Relief Administration, an agency intended to relieve the suffering in
Europe caused by the war s destruction.
Hoover s public reputation was enormous as a result of his activities in these offices, and some
persons looked upon him as a presidential candidate in 1920. He had never participated in
partisan politics, but he did declare himself a Republican while refusing to seek the presidency that
year. In 1921, Warren G. Harding appointed Hoover secretary of commerce, a post he held until he
began his own presidential campaign in 1928.
Secretary of Commerce
As secretary of commerce, Hoover made his most important contributions to public policy. He was
so able and active in the administrations of
Warren G. Harding and Calvin Coolidge that observers often referred to him as secretary for
domestic affairs. Hoover directly confronted a dilemma central to American values: the conflict
between the tradition of individualism and the impersonalism of large corporations and big cities.
Hoover deeply believed in the traditional worth of the individual, the value of personal initiative,
the rights of self expression, and the legacy of freedom of

In the article Born to Run by Adam Summers, who is an assistant professor of bioengineering and
ecology and evolutionary biology at the University of California, Irvine, the author states that
throughout time bipedalism has evolved to benefit endurance running. Summers also claims that
bipedalism modern humans have differs from the one our early ancestors had. The author relies on
the research by Dennis M. Bramble and Daniel E. Lieberman that have improved the understanding
of humanbipedalismand its evolution. According to Summers, the corrections made by Bramble
and Lieberman s research helped to draw a more accurate picture of an early human. Summers
writes in an informal tone and the article, even though he refers to a scientific data,

43. Naturalism in Russia and the Creation of the Moscow Art...
The earliest of the modern theatre movement was naturalism. Russia lagged behind the rest of
Europe, as far as theatre was concerned. That point was proven when the Meiningen Players
performed in Russia. The Meiningen Players created not only a set, but also an environment in
which they are a part of (Gascoigne 265). Russian producers saw, first hand, how far behind they
were. The Imperial Theatre system spent most of its resources on opera and ballet while neglecting
legitimate theatre. Most of the administrative staff was composed of government appointees who
had little or no interest of theatrical production. There was no effort to harmonize sets and costumes
to create a unified impression (Londre 359). This changed, however,... Show more content on

The theatre had a repertoire of plays with such playwrights as Sophocles, Shakespeare, Tolstoy,
Shakespeare, Ibsen and reluctantly Anton Chekov (Londre 361). Anton Chekov rose from poverty
to study medicine at the University of Moscow while supporting himself and his family. Chekov
initially gained fame as the author of short stories while at the same time opening a medical
practice. He began to write one act farces, but after writing a full length that was rejected by the
Alexandry Theatre, Chekov vowed to write only trifles from then on. However, he wrote another
full length play, The Seagull, which was chosen to be performed at the Alexandry Theatre for a
benefit without first being read. Theatre patrons filled the theatre expecting to see a comedy,
instead seeing a play that was unrehearsed and poorly performed. Audience members soon
showed their displeasure and the play was a flop. Chekov left St. Petersburg and promised he
would never write a play to be produced again (361). Neimirovich Danchenko was an admirer of
Chekov s work and felt The Seagull would be perfect for the Moscow Art Theatre, though
Stanislavsky was not sure. Chekov initially turned down a meeting with Neimirovich Danchenko,
but agreed after a second invitation and reluctantly agreed to allow them to stage the play. The
Seagull opened at the Moscow Art Theatre in 1898. The audience was won over by the simplicity
and truthfulness of the acting and the poignancy in the relationships
