What Is Mercutio To Blame
Dominic Hanecak Mr. Anderson Period 5 English 1 Honours 9 December 2014 Mercutio: To
Blame or Not to Blame There are many tragedies that happen in our lives today, anyone can look
in the media, on the web, or just look around a neighborhood to find them. In William
Shakespeare s, Romeo and Juliet tragedies happen as well. There are many deaths because of
two family s feud. Many people are responsible for the buildup to the tragedies in the play,
however one person seems to be the most responsible for these deaths, and this person is
Mercutio because of his constant pressure and sense of pride. One of the reasons Mercutio is
most responsible for the tragedies in this play is that he is the one who convinces Romeo to go to
the party at the Capulets. This is what started the chain of events that led up to the deaths of
himself, Romeo, Juliet, Tybalt and Mrs. Montague. Mercutio tells Romeo that he is a lover. Borrow

When Tybalt comes to the square, Mercutio tells Tybalt to pluck your sword out of your pilcher
(3.1.77). Mercutio, out of pity for Romeo, challenges Tybalt to a duel because when Romeo
doesn t fight it taints his pride and his brand as a man. Mercutio is fighting Tybalt, but Romeo
doesn t want his future cousin in law to get hurt so he and benvolio step in to stop the fight.
While Mercutio is fighting Tybalt, Mercutio falls saying I was hurt under your arm (3.1.100
101). This makes Romeo furious, so mad that he says he is acting on his emotions not on
common sense. Out of grief and out of revenge Romeo slays Tybalt, and when the Prince comes
Romeo gets banished. As you can see Mercutio sacrificing his own life for Romeos pride adds to
the tension in between these two families and leads to the deaths of Romeo, Juliet and

The higher the GDP the higher is the country s standards of living and the lower the GDP the
lower is the country s standard of living. According to (Abuqamar, Coomans, Louckx, 2011),
unemployment is an important factor in measuring country s economic strength like GDP per
capita. If the unemployment level is high, then economic growth is very low because they have
a negative relationship. A sustainable growth accompanied by macroeconomic policies that
promotes employment will eventually cut down the level of unemployment in the economy and
growth is considered as a solution to decrease unemployment (Hussain, Siddiqi, Iqbal, 2010).
This is true because when government wants to increase output by building infrastructures and
the like. They create job opportunities for those who are unemployed thus, alleviating
unemployment in the economy. More people will get jobs and earn to sustain their standard of
living or even increase their standard of living depending on their salaries. B. Average Years in

The Problem Of Inadequate Funds
As you are facing the situation of inadequate funds, are you looking for a provision from where
you can get assistance in monetary terms? Are you getting confused as to what option to choose?
Without thinking much, you can go for installment loans . By going with this monetary service, the
borrower can get hold of immediate cash support for small needs. The nature of this facility is short
term. This makes the rate of interestquite high. You should just take note of your want and state
before you apply for the desired sum. According to your settlement state and financial condition,
you can obtain a sum that falls in the range of ВЈ80 to ВЈ1500 that you have to pay back in the
suitable repayment time duration of 1 to 30 day. Once the installment loans comes to you, you can
do anything and everything. The borrower can pay the household and utility bills, can get small
house repair jobs done, can send the car to the garage, can pay the kid s school and tuition fees,
can pay the medical bills, can pay installments of the credit card, can throw a party and so on. Put
into use the free of cost and no obligation online application form for immediate loans , which
would have been made available to you on the website of the money lenders. From the comfort of
your home or office, fill it with your genuine personal details. As and when the process of
application would be over, you would get an approval easily. The money would get transferred into
your bank account, within 24 hours.

Workplace Diversity Within A Women s Perspective
In this report, the group has been entrusted with the task of researching issues of workplace
diversity in an engineering profession, (mainly from a women s perspective), i.e., limitations in
which women experience through a daily basis. In doing so, this report will reach to the company
executive: EGB100 Ltd , outlining the findings and recommendations about what benefits, there
may be initially for the company in implementing a workplace diversity policy, and thus, what
practical steps might be undertaken to foster a diverse and discrimination free workplace.

Wong Kar-Wai s Relationship with Genre
This essay will explore Wong Kar Wai s relationship with genre within the context of the Hong
Kong film industry, along with Wong s various international influences, in order to argue,
Chungking Express was a major turning point in his career in terms of his complex relationship
with various elements of filmgenre.
Contextualising genre within the Hong Kong film industry:
Of all the international film industries across the globe Hong Kong is certainly one that is
synonyms with genre cinema. Considering the commercial nature of its film industry, it seems
only appropriate that when discussing Hong Kong cinema as a whole, genre seems to be a
frequent and integral part of the conversation. The Hong Kong film industry was built to turn a
profit and has become the dominant figure in all of East Asian cinema, relying heavily on
exporting its films to Mainland China and Taiwan, as well as local box office sales. Ding Tzann
Lii describes this relationship as one of marginal imperialism and compares the Hong Kong
industries hold over East Asia to that of Hollywood s over the rest of the world. (1998: 125)
However, with such a large demand for product Hong Kong has struggled to produce enough films
each year to maintain its industries growth. Production rapidly became focused on making films
quickly, cheaply and with the intention of being sold easily. The industry became much like a
factory, producing films in an assembly line fashion, often pushing films into production without a

The Parent Trap Essay
The Parent Trap is a film from 1998 that takes place in London, Napa (California) and Maine.
First it begins in the Summer Camp in Maine, where two redheads Annie and Hallie
coincidentally meet. In there they found out that they were twins and that the last 12 years they
have lived apart, but not only from each other also from their parents. As well they decided to
change places, so Hallie instead of going to Napa with his father, goes with her mom to London
and Annie with his dad to Napa. After the unconventional plan of reunited their parents, they
decided that they needed to know more about each other, so the plan could work. Eventually it
was the end of the summer camp, so each sister went to their new home, but in the end their
parents figure it out. The kids try to be subtle because only her mom knew about the switch.
Finally, when they get reunited in a Hotel his dad knew about it in a very impressive moment
because he was... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the other part it also has plenty of fun moments. Hallie and Annie made an impressive role
especially because it was the same person Lindsay Lohan acting for the two sisters. Because of
this I think that this movie was a well received film because it doesn t matter that now days is
old the kids still enjoyed watching it. In 1961 and 1986 was the first movie The Parent Trap, but
in this movie the actress was Hayley Mills. This film has the same story of the one of Lindsay
Lohan, but in this one the events change, it tells you about that two sisters were separated since
birth, and one lived in Boston and the other one in California. In my opinion I think that both
movies are good, but honestly, IВґd rather watch the one of Lindsay Lohan. Supposing you never
had watch neither of them the most probably is that you would watch the one that is more

Persuasive Essay On Political Advertising
Political ads can be viewed as annoying, excessive, biased, and unnecessary. This opinion is
shared among many people within America with many wanting all ads to stop entirely. Now, are
these ads truly needed or are they just to make a candidate look good? Certain strategies used in
political campaigns can be confusing and frustrating. However, they can also help bring people
together to discuss their opinions and beliefs in order to decide who to support. Political ads can
encourage people to come together because of a common cause, improving our nation, and who is
the best candidatefor President. Political signs and commercials are one tactic that can be
misleading. Many people feel that candidates use bandwagons and endorsements to help them
look good and promise immediate changes which are either not possible or can take a long time
to achieve. This is like with Mondale Ferraro, who made many different types of images to make
him look more popular (Document A). However, these images also help people decide who would
be betterfor the job based off of looks, beliefs, and other attributes. I would use these to help make
myself stand out from the other candidates by putting in true aspects into my campaign so they
do not put false hope into what I stand for. This also helps decide what issues the public focuses
on the most based on their beliefs. The candidates running for President try to get rid of the
issues the public are concerned about to encourage the public to vote for them. Bandwagons use
well known and respected groups of people to influence the public to vote for a candidate
because they are doing it. This can be done with several methods, like endorsement, glittering
generalities, and even using a spoil system to intrigue people into electing them. This is like the
Reagan TV ad where he tried to improve his image with the actions he had promised, which
spread with the public (Document B). In addition, it helps clarify what people want most out of a
candidate for their benefit, as well as their own benefits. I would use bandwagons, because it helps
get other people s attention and make myself popular to others. But these methods can help a
candidate who already has a lot of public support. This

Theodore Roosevelt s Role Model
Rumaysa Sharif
11/03/17
President Theodore Roosevelt is one of the most widely respected and popular figures in history.
From his childhood to adulthood, he is an example of great courage, strength, perseverance and
success. He once said, The only man who never makes mistakes is a man who never does
anything. Despite having a very weak body as a child, he never gave up on himself nor his
dreams. He was quite the role model for civilians during his time and even today. As the only
president from New York City, his childhood home is in downtown Manhattan. It is obvious that he
lead a very wealthy life with a loving family. His parents were very supportive and raised their
children in an intellectually stimulating environment. For ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The ornaments of the parlor which include the glass chandelier is decorated with a great
quantity of cut glass prisms. Growing up, Theodore was a very sickly child. He had a severe
case of asthma and would become weak very easily. His father said You have the mind, but not
the body. Without the health of the body, the mind cannot go as far as it should. You must make
your body. Theodore replied I will make my body! without any hesitation. Thus his father installed
a gym on the second floor of their home. He also took up boxing and became very strong and
physically active. He served in the Civil War, became an author, historian, explorer, statesman and
conservationist. Theodore Roosevelt s father, Franklin Roosevelt, was part of the Union and his
mother, Martha Bulloch, was a Confederate. However, his father did not want to serve in the war
because it meant he would have to shoot his wife s two brothers who were Confederate generals.
Therefore, he did what many wealthy men did during that time, and paid two men to take his
place. Even though Theodore Roosevelt looked up to his father, this impacted him in a very
negative way. Some historians even analyzed that his father buying men to take his place is what
influenced him to becoming a soldier and gave him the determination to prove that he was a good
one. As a young child, Theodore and his family went on a lot of trips to foreign countries.
Exploring these countries had a huge

Tao Te Ching Of Lao-Tzu Analysis
Tao Te Ching of Lao Tzu is a book with many chapters in it showing the two different sides to
basically everything. To break it down, Tao means path or way , Te means to get , and Ching
means great book . So the Tao was the force that controlled the universe and appreciated the way, to
find balance between opposites. The book, Tao Te Ching
has been said to been written by a Laozi
an old master and has been said that the true author (or authors ) name has been lost. In the
chapters between the book it tells how to live a life of integrity and of greatness per say. It also
has contradictions or paradoxes which allows us to see the both perspectives of each side. It shows
us that there are always two sides to everything. Tao Te Ching... Show more content on

It was the little things that he did that made my opinion change on him. You can t judge others on
their appearance because there might be beauty inside of them or ugliness inside of them either one.
The other contradiction in the Tao Te Ching was good and evil . This concept can kind of
connect back to the ugliness and beauty in the ugliness kind of being evil and beauty being good.
Of course, as it has already been expressed before by the author of this book, there are two sides
to everything. When things are good, they are good of course but there is always something that is
going to change that. The same thing happens when things are bad, they are bad but then it has to
change to good at some point.
What I thought of when I saw good and evil was the tree of knowledge of good and evil from the
Bible. In the Bible, near the beginning of the book Genesis 2:9 it says that there are two trees,
the tree of life and the tree of knowledge of good and evil. The Lord God made all kinds of trees
grow out of the ground trees that were pleasing to the eye and good for food. In the middle of
the garden were the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil . When Adam and
Eve sinned and ate from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, that s when the concept of good
and evil became true. When things were going good, something would upset that and something
bad would happen. What I believe is that if Adam and Eve hadn t have sinned then

Expectations of a First Line Supervisor in a Law Enforcement Agency

Supervision in the Criminal Justice Field
Professor Chavez
May 15, 2013
Abstract
The first line supervisor in law enforcement is commonly referred to as a Sergeant. These positions
are of great importance to a law enforcement agency. There are many pros and cons to becoming a
first line supervisor. These positions are tasked with the expectation of maintaining a level of
balance within the patrol ranks, as well as remaining fair and impartial among those ranks. There
are also many expectations of subordinates. In order for both parties to meet these expectations
requires a close working relationship.
The first line supervisor in a law ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A supervisor must remain approachable from their subordinates. With this approachability and
accessibility the supervisor will be successful in building a better working relationship. The
difficulty with some supervisors is the ability to draw the line between having a personal
relationship with their subordinates and a professional relationship. With a close working
relationship a supervisor should be able to confront the subordinate and be able to resolve the issue.
The resolution may range from simply counseling the subordinate, all the way up to possible
disciplinary action.
Approximately 25 percent of all law enforcement disciplinary action is due to drug use. (More
amp; Miller, 2007) Supervisors must remain vigilant on possible drug use. Many supervisors are
unwilling to discipline their subordinates, which could ultimately lead to their downfall. When
disciplinary action is necessary it is the responsibility of the supervisor to remain fair and impartial.
When initiating disciplinary action the supervisor must put aside any personal feelings toward the
subordinate, and act solely on a professional level. They must act in the best interest of the
subordinate and the department as a whole. It is important that when the disciplinary action is
necessary it is done in a constructive manner. When the disciplinary action is constructive it allows
the subordinate to accept their mistakes, and learn

According to the 2000 Census Bureau s states there are 5.2 million children in our country that
have disabilities between the ages of five and 19, and with young adults the number increases
substantially. (Miracle League, 2013). Teams are divided by age and ability, which means that
it is possible to have children from a wide range of ages on the same team if they play at a
similar mental and physical level. There are three divisions of play, non competitive,
intermediate, and competitive. The difference is the teaching of regular baseball fundamentals
in the competitive division. In non competitive every child bats, runs, and last batter scores a
home run. Intermediate division is in the middle of non competitive and competitive division
(Miracle League, 2013). The Strengths of the Miracle League of El Paso is the ability to reach
out to disabled children no matter their age is to become involved in a recreational sport such as
baseball that schools, and little league teams would not include a disabled child. The main
advantage of the Miracle League of El Paso is that this League is the only one of its kind in El

the park, and many children come from all parts of El Paso. A few children live in New Mexico.

Henry Martyn Robert s Rules Of Order
Henry Martyn Robert, author of Robert s Rules of Order was born in 1837 and died in 1923,
and a Brigadier General in the Union Army during the Civil War. In 1863 he was asked to chair
a local town meeting at a church in New Bedford, Massachusetts but didn t know how to preside.
He assumed the assembly would behave, but the meeting was a disaster, lasted 14 hours and
really didn t accomplish anything. General Robert was very frustrated and vowed to never again
attend another meeting until he knew more about Parliamentary Law. He researched a small book
on the subject, and found some rules for DELIBERATE ASSEMBLIES with four or five motions
according to rank, two or three could not be debated, and some amended. He traveled around the
country collecting Parliamentary information and saw different interpretations of Parliamentary
Law in various organizations. **Robert saw the need for a uniform set of rules to enable civic

A Comparison OfThe Electric Koolaid Acid Test By Leslie...
For my IOP I will be comparing the novels The Electric Koolaid Acid Test by Tom Wolfe and
Ceremony by Leslie Silko. In this comparison I will be analyzing how these author s writing styles
portray the character development in Silko s main character Tayo, and the minor characters which
Wolfe documented. In both pieces, the reader can see that the characters are presented either
internal or external conflicts, and sometimes both, that shape their realities as well as affect the
decisions they make. In order to convey this characterprogression, both Silko and Wolfe illustrate
the ways that their characters gain their acceptance of their social standings in society, and more
importantly in themselves and what they believe, through the use of fragmented writingstyles as
well as the inclusion of flashbacks and poems. Before I analyze these author s writing styles, I want
to point out the different obstacles that these characters are facing.
In The Electric Koolaid Acid Test the Pranksters are subjected to society s judgement as they try
to achieve their goal of challenging societal norms through the use of taking drugs as an act of
defiance to these standards. [change slide] The conformity that they are fighting is the influences
that are supposedly forced upon the young because, as Wolfe writes, [change slide] their doors of
perception have not yet been closed. This means that the world that the Pranksters perceive to be

Colin Kaepernick s Views On Racism

going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of
color. To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way.
There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder. ... This

Sinopec, on the other hand, has traditionally focused on downstream activities, such as refining
and distribution. It controls the oil fields south of the Yellow River. In this way, the national

process from extracting, refining, sale to trade. The government s main goal of the regrouping is
to regulate previous disorder in the oil extracting industry and eliminate oil smuggling issues. The
regrouping is intended to improve the efficiency in oil sector by imposing more government
oversight through the two national companies. However, the regrouping barely achieved the
government s initial goal. The two national companies benefit from high profits because of
monopoly power and government subsidy. Other local and private owned oil company had little

increasing pressure to open up its oil market. In 2006, the state department issued new regulations
regarding the markets for crude and refined oil. The state partially opened up the importation of
crude oil and the domestic market for refined oil. However, because the oil refining industry was
highly monopolized by the two national oil companies, the opening up of oil market actually
benefited these two monopolies most. The local and private owned oil company that were granted

The European Union And Foreign Policy
The European Union is an organization unlike any other which includes an economic and political
union between many different countries in Europe. It operates as a single institution with one
foreign policy although it is composed of 28 individual countries with their own foreign policies.
This paper, therefore, seeks to understand the institutional organization of the European Unionin
regards to foreign policy as well as provide an analysis of the actions the EU takes in its diplomacy.
The EU has an interesting, albeit confusing, system in which it operates. In order to understand
the organization of its foreign policy, we must look into the different institutions which govern
the EU and explain their roles. First, there is the European Commission, which is composed of
28 ministers from each country and manages the day to day business of the EU as well as
drafting proposals. The President of the European Commission is essentially seen as the head of
the EU. It is designed to represent the EU as a whole. The European Council is composed of the
president or prime minister of each member country and represents each countries interests. The
President of the Commission and the High Representative of Foreign Affairs sit as nonvoting

Rationalising a Scheme of Work for Teaching and Learning...
I am course leader on the Foundation Degree for Early Years at the further education institution in
which I work. The foundation degree is delivered in collaboration with a higher education
institution. There are fourteen modules on the course and I teach on up to ten of these modules
over a two year programme of study. The course is delivered through a blended learningapproach,
encompassing both face to face and online Moodle sessions, the latter being the name for the
college s virtual learning environment. The scheme of work (Appendix 1, pp8 15) that I have

The module was delivered through a mixture of lectures, seminars, tutorials videos, discussions,
observations and the VLE Moodle . The approach to the teaching and learning methods employed
was that of active learning, catering to different learning styles. An awareness of different learning
styles can help teachers to sustain motivation by encouraging and facilitating pupils use of preferred
styles but also providing support when using alternative approaches (Highland Council Education,
2010; Honey and Mumford, 1986, cited in McGill and Beaty, 1995). Active participation by the
student group was encouraged throughout by myself, as their tutor.
One example of the different methods of teaching and learning used on the module involves
discussion of observations made in the workplace in week 2 (Appendix 1). Incorporating the use
of observation of children by the learners recognises that this is one of the most important aspects
of day to day professional practice when working with children in early years (Hall, 2005), and
therefore also has a motivating effect on the learners. Further, this provides them the opportunity to
practice their literacy skills in the work place. The use of discussion for learning following a
(kinaesthetic) activity has been shown in research to be an important part of supporting higher
meta cognitive processes (Palinscar et

Object Permanence
The third time I visited Vera, I started testing her understanding of object permanence. I did the
same test as last time, with putting her teddy under the blanket. Right when I put the bear under
the blanket, Vera reached under and retrieved the teddy. Since she was able to do that, I tried the
A not B error. When I put the teddy under the first blanket, she got it. Then when I put it under
the second blanket, she looked under the first blanket. This confirmed Piagets theory of the A
not B error (Crosby, 108). I also noticed that Vera enjoys solitary play. If I am in the room with
her and sitting on the couch, she will gladly play with her toys alone. This is not an issue at her
age. If she continued this past age five or six, then it could be a red flag of something such as
anxiety according to Burgess, Rubin, Cheah, and Nelson (Crosby, 489). She also responded to
simple requests. For example if you asked for a high five, she would do it. When I started
singing When You re Happy and You know it, she could clap. The next thing I did was giving
Vera her bottle, and to my surprise, she now holds the bottle with one hand. In addition, I noticed
that she was eating most all normal foods now. She had a peanut butter sandwich cut up in very

understand her mental state. The only way we can understand her emotions is through her face and
body language. Lastly, there is limited information about things such as key life events because she

Analysis Of The Imposter
The Imposter made in 2012, is a film tale that follows the chronicles of Frederic Bourdin, a con
artist, who managed to trick an unsuspecting family into believing he was a long lost relative. Bart
Layton directed this documentary and uses unconventional techniques to unravel this complicated,
unbelievable story.
2) What are some of the themes that are central to the film? How have they been communicated?
Bart Layton built this doc not from one perspective, but from a collection of them. Some stories,
like The Imposter need a panoptic approach to connect the audience to the film. The themes of
manipulation, identity and love are the main themes conveyed by Layton. These themes are
communicated through sounds and visual imagery. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
8) What is the tone or feeling of the film and what is its impact?
Bart Layton uses a wide variety of techniques and devices to convey the emotional tone of the
documentary. The constant change of character s perceptions and slow unraveling of mysteries
caused inpatient viewers wanting more. The documentary was designed to reflect on the antihero,
FrГ©dГ©ric Bourdin s past. The Imposter uses reenactments and interviews to unfold a murky feel,
where truth and fiction morph in an enchanting double helix. Bart Layton highlights Bourdin s life
rather than focusing on Nicholas Barclay. With so many different feelings flooding the audience at
once, Layton allows time for the audience to reflect and find conclusions for the unsolved mystery.
Suspicion is raised from the beginning of the film, but shifts to various players as the film unfolds.
The imposter himself, has a simultaneously engaging and repellant personality. Bourdin s audacity
in impersonating a missing American child is breathtaking. The fact that he fooled the Barclay
family and the FBI is beyond comprehension. It is this tone of incredulity that Layton expertly
manipulates in the viewer. Who to trust? Who is telling the truth? What happened to Nicholas?
Where is this missing child?
The dramatic tone of the film has only one lighthearted moment. The drive from Dallas Airport,
shot in bright light with

always been that way. Argentina has seen many periods of economic and political volatility ever

From this territory of the viceroyalty, the main exports of silver, livestock and crops, such as
wheat, would be harvested and sent back to Spain in exchange for manufactured goods.
Although, at this time Argentina was flourishing due to its exportation of valuable goods, this
small sectored economy ultimately was the first factor that set the tone of economic depression
in Argentina, as the economy revolved around the cultivation and exportation of commodity
goods. This trend was consistent until the 1800 s, the latter of the colonial period, where trade
saw a decline due to the Napoleonic Wars. The decline was driven by tariff barriers and high
transpiration costs, resulting in the Consumer Price Index rising by 64 points. (Paolera and
Taylor 35) With this decline and trade, Argentina saw a major weakening of its major economic
sector and there saw an increase in social inequality along with a decline in the well being of the
lower classes. Then between 180 and 1816 Argentina broke away from the Spanish Empire and
declared independence. Upon its newly found independence, Argentina s economic struggles arose

Explain How To Behave Properly In Homeroom
During homeroom on April 3rd, 2017, the 7th grade class was being extremely impolite to their

no one could hear and when the class did not stop talking, the teacher, Mr. Rix, gave them an

The students groaned in frustration, but they had learned their lesson. Behaving properly in

Artemisia Gentileschi s Judith Beheading Holofernes
Although now praised for her work as an incredibly accomplished, feminist artist, Artemisia
Gentileschi s works were nearly expunged from history by those who believed her incapable of
such skill. As a female painter in the 17th century she faced innumerable challenges in pursuing
work as an artist, including, but not limited to; her exclusion from apprenticeship in the arts, the
damage sustained to her reputation after a lengthy rape trial in which she was tortured to prove
her credibility and subsequent defamation after the trial. After her death critics claimed her work

These works both demonstrate her use of dramatic chiaroscuro, most likely as a result of the
influence of Caravaggio in her training, and her vivid use of color, as well as her ability to capture

In Judith Slaying Holofernes (V. II.) circa 1620, Gentileschi depicts the climactic moment of the
biblical story in which Judith, with the help of her maidservant, decapitates Holofernes. While a
popular subject to be painted at the time, Gentileschi s depiction is unique in the way that she

are much more physically and purposefully involved in this act of violence. It is important to

When greeting someone it is expected that one would bow with their hands together. In the U.S.,
saying hello or goodbye with a hand wave is an acceptable gesture, yet in India a hand wave is a

there should be a one arm s length between the parties during conversation. Overall, when
communicating within the Indian Culture, there are many ways to easily offend them. Education

The family is at the center of Indian society, which is largely patriarchal. Several generations of a

Ethanol False Economy
In the words of John McCain, corn based ethanol has been a case study in the law of unintended
consequences (Stossel 00:00:43 00:00:48). This news would astonish most because the general
public has been told that ethanol is beneficial for the United States, due to it being a renewable
resource, however, that is not true. When one thinks of the qualities of a renewable resource, they
think of it being beneficial to the environment, having a positive energy balance, not requiring
subsidies, mandates, and tariffs to function, and should not raise the price of its main input. Most
renewable resources meet these goals, corn ethanol, however, does not meet any of these goals. It is

The ethanol production process starts with growing corn, on average an acre of corn yields close
to 7,110 pounds of corn that require 140 gallons of fossil fuels to grow through the use of liquid
fertilizer and powering machinery (Ethanol Fuel from Corn par. 4). The corn is harvested and
transported to an ethanol refinery where it is ground, then water is added to create a mash in
which enzymes break down the corn into sugar, afterward the sugar is mixed with yeast and
fermented to produce ethanol (Ethanol Fuel: is ethanol par. 9 10). During the process of
growing and processing the corn needed to manufacture one gallon of ethanol, it requires
131,000 British Thermal Units (BTU) to generate a gallon of ethanol while a gallon of ethanol
produces only 77,000 BTU (Ethanol Fuel from Corn par. 5). The net ratio of energy for ethanol
production is undesirable because ethanol has barely over half of the total energy needed to

Mission statement = A formal, short, written statement of the purpose of a company organization
Stakeholder = a person with an interest or concern in something, especially a business
Public sector = the part of an economy that is controlled by the government.
Private sector = the part of the national economy that is not under direct government control.
The two business I have chosen are NHS and Nike
The NHS (National Health Service) is located in the public sector as it is financed and controlled
by the government. The NHS is solely located in the United Kingdom, and provides free health care
for the citizens of the United Kingdom. The NHS was found out of a long held ideal good

The governments point of view is just to fund and make the NHS sucure for the people of the UK.
Another way to communicate to the national health care is through the staff striking. This is a
means of communication by showing there needs to be a change for the staff at the hospital. The
NHS also has face to face talks with their patients during their vist or stay at the hospitals. This
shows that the staff also want to be looked after by the government via payment.
The main stakeholder for Nike is the general public as they purchase the goods Nike produce and
the public is the main source of revenue for that organization, the genral public also somehow
sponser Nike by wearing their clothing brand , which is a need to get product. Another
stakeholder for the organization are companies such as sports direct, as they purchase Nikes
goods as they re competitors to other companies such as JD. Nike sells it s good internationally
which means different countries will purchase their goods. Sport teams are also influenced in
Nike as they sponsors Nikes brand, as Nike pay them to advertise their logo in varies ways. The
local community would also be seen as a stakeholder depending on the response to Nike, positive
or negative. The government is also affected due to business tax. The more stores Nike open the
more tax money the government get, which is 20%. Nikes staff provide a service for Nike as they

Examples Of Betrayal In The Great Gatsby
Betrayal is a human condition that comes from breaking trust. The act of betraying one s self
can be commonly seen in people. A character in Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby, Jay, betrays
himself and wasted his life away on trying to impress a girl. Jay essentially did everything in his
life, like becoming a bootlegger, all so that Daisy would notice him. Jay s life was devoted to
chasing around love and a dream instead of doing something productive and betrayed himself in
that way. Furthermore, being betrayed by a friend is something no one wants to go through. Hamlet
is betrayed by his two friends, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, in Hamlet by William Shakespeare.
Hamlet s long childhood friends betray Hamlet by saying, Both your majesty / Might,

Venipuncture Procedure
As difficult as this procedure might seem, performing a routine venipuncture is a relatively easy
and quick procedure. The word venipunture in medical terminology is defined as puncture to the
vein which often is performed by a phlebotomist; this healthcare professional is a trained individual
who specializes in drawing blood. Let s face it, many of us are afraid of needles, even I would have
never thought of performing this procedure myself. So if I did, so can you.
Let s begin by proceeding with the first and most important step, greet and identify the patient.
Always ask his or her name and date of birth. It is necessary to make the patient feel welcomed and
secure. Verifying their identity is a procedure for assurance that all given tests are not performed on
wrong patients, this could result in wrong test results for the patient.
Start with gathering the following supplies: A pair of gloves, needle, vacutainer (tube holder),
blood collection tube, tourniquet, alcohol, gauze and band Aids. When choosing the tubes,
determine this according to the physicians order given to you by the patient. When choosing the
needle size, determine this based on the physical appearance of the vein, this will not only make it
easier but it will also make your technique better. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now explain the procedure to the patient so that when the moment arises they are prepared as to
what to expect. First you will put your gloves on, sit the patient down and apply the tourniquet to
palpate the vein. The key to puncturing the vein is not by seeing it but rather by palpating it; this is
the proper technique that is used when venipuncture. You will take a few second to examine and
feel the vein; this will give you a clear vision of the depth and width. This step should not take
longer than one minute. After you are positive about the puncture site, proceed with cleansing the
area and allow the area to dry for thirty

Chinese Exclusion Act Research Paper
The Chinese Exclusion Act of 1923 was a terrible thing the Canadian parliament did that showed a
bad side if Canada. The Chinese Immigration Act, 1923, known today as the Chinese Exclusion Act,
was an act passed by the Parliament of Canada. The Chinese Exclusion Act effectively closed off
Chinese immigration to Canada. The Chinese Exclusion Act was terrible because only Chinese
people were singled out completely from entering on the basis of race. Secondly, the act was
borderline unfair to every person of Chinese descent as it ruined family and economic life for
people of Chinese descent living in canada at the time. Finally, it promoted racism in the Canadian
government, as they all thought it was a resounding success, and did not think they were doing
anything wrong.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first reason it was terrible was because the Chinese were singled out from entering of solely
the on the basis of their race. There were 3 main causes for this one of them was the inclusion of
a head tax on people of Chinese descent even if you could get into Canada at the time which was
very unlikely, you would have to pay a lot more than anyone else who wasn t Chinese trying to
get into the Country. The Second reason was because the Chinese Exclusion Act ruined Family
life and Economics for people of Chinese descent, it made people who are married and have
families live alone when they can barely get out to see their family, people of Chinese descent
were also paid lower wages than other citizens. The final reason the Chinese Exclusion act was
unfair and terrible towards the Chinese was it was completely racist, people of Chinese descent
could not evan vote i got so bad, that people of Chinese descent were treated at second class
citizens. For all those reason it is undoubtedly clear that the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1923 was

Causes And Consequences Of B. F Skinner
Burrhus Frederick Skinner, more commonly known as B.F Skinner, believed studying the mind,
the internal mental events, was never productive since the mind acted like a black box. For him,
more productive approach was seeing a direct behavior. He thought the best way to understand a
behavior was to look at the causes of an action and its consequences operant conditioning. Operant
conditioning dealt with operants like internal actions that could have effect on surrounding
environment. He then set out to identify the process that made certain operant behaviors more or
less likely to occur. Skinner is regarded as father of Operant Conditioning, but his work was based
on Thorndike s Law Of Effect. However, Skinner added new term into the
Law of Effect reinforcement. This was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, if we look at criminals and see if they are either born or made, psychopaths and
sociopaths have different personalities.
Psychopaths would be born criminals where their genetics have relations to their actions where
they could hide their feelings and pretend to care, but in reality, they do not. Sociopaths, in
contrast, are either made by their surroundings and parental influence. Therefore, if Skinner had
done the same experiment on human, who have more capabilities to think than animals, people
could have gone to the food straight. They could have yelled or called for help for food. They
could have shown more aggressive behaviors than animals and could have simply asked what to do
to people who were conducting the experiments. And if people who got experimented repeated their
actions over and over again for being right and getting what they wanted, their

people generally believe. For example, if I do my homework and get $5, I would continue

The Theory Of The Prophet Muhammad
Introduction
In exploring the questions of how certain ethicist would respond if they had the choice of stealing
food to give to a starving child, it s important to draw from a thorough and broad spectrum of
philosophers in order to explore the experiment fully. In trying to obtain the broadest set of
hypothetical opinions we ll look at the reasoning of al GhazГўlГ® from the medieval period,
Immanuel Kant from the modern period, and finally Confucius an ancient ethical philosopher. By
spanning the different centuries, cultures, and ethics of these great minds, we find three totally
different approaches to answering that question. al GhazГўlГ® The first ethicist chosen for this
analysis is al GhazГўlГ®, who as considered a divine command ethics. al GhazГўlГ® s reasoning
derived from not focusing on consequences on earth but what consequences one s actions would
lead to in the afterlife. He believed that everyone should emulate the teaches of the Prophet
Muhammad as a model of behavior. Another interesting aspect of al GhazГўlГ® s ethics where that
a person shouldn t try to avoid the less than desirable facets of human nature but to work on
controlling them (Griffel, 2016).
Faced with the prospect of stealing food to give to a starving child, al GhazГўlГ® would most
likely agree that this was okay. Not only is it a well known fact that part of the Muslim faith
requires those able to feed the hungry, but it is the fact that he held such close regard for the

While Presenting May Be A Literal Objectification Of Slaves
While Presenting may be a literal objectification of slaves in Walker s work, this overarching
concept can also be seen in her works Untitled and Gone. In Untitled, the young woman is
depicted as naked, a common practice from slavery. During the practice, slaves were often
forced to stand nude and be inspected by potential masters, as if part of a crude, human dog
show. The woman in this picture seems vulnerable in a similar fashion, forced to stand in an
apparently submissive state to the fully clothed men and women beside her in order to have her
work be considered at all by this high art world. Gone s brutal caricatures particularly focus on this
slave master objectification, primarily with slaves serving as objects of sexual... Show more content

As Steer phrases it, the aim [of Brecht s pieces] is to promote an attitude of regional activism, an
ability to see things could be other than they are (Steer 639).
Brecht accomplishes a desire for activism by alienating the audience from his characters, or by
trying to free socially conditioned phenomena from that stamp of familiarity which protects them
against our grasp (Brecht 192). The hero is more a creation of a social and political atmosphere
than a living breathing character, and is therefore viewed as an object, something inhuman. Walker
s caricatures follow this structure, ranging from the slave men and women in Gone and Practicing
to the young artist in Untitled: all of them are representations of greater ideas, yet are warped
enough in design or position that they are freed from a complete pathetic connection. A type of
historical fiction is formed, close enough for us to grasp and consider the themes presented, yet
distanced enough for the audience to feel a desire to change things, as according to Brecht.
Walker s art is therefore an entirely new genre with this Brechtian lens, serving as a form of epic
art rather than simply epic theatre or political art. Through the objectification and therefore
alienation of her subjects with regards to the audience, Walker appears to be inciting a drive
towards activity, be it a simple acknowledgment of her themes or the creation of a spark for
activism. Through the historically

How Does Shakespeare Use Humor In Hamlet
William Shakespeare s Hamlet is a tragedy that tells the unfortunate fate of a royal family. One
would expect nothing but sadness in such a story. However, this is not the case. Besides the story
being a tragedy, Shakespeare uses humor as a hint to the characters of the tragedy that Hamlet has
gone insane due to the death of his father. Furthermore, humor serves as comic relief throughout the
tragedy.
This humor is used to justify Hamlet s madness as it illustrates just what Hamlet has been dealing
with in losing his father. Horatio tells Hamlet that he and some guards have seen the ghost of King
Hamlet. Curious, Hamlet waits the next night for the ghost. Sure enough it appears and tells
Hamlet that his uncle Claudius killed his father. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The events that happen before the graveyard scene are horrendous. Hamlet accidently kills Polonius
after mistaking him with the Claudius, in which he thought was the one behind the curtains in
Gertrude s bedroom. The death of Polonius causes Ophelia to go nuts and eventually, she too dies.
Humor is used as comic relief as seen in the graveyard scene in Act V, scene 1 with Hamlet and
the gravediggers. The diggers joke about the death of Ophelia. While they re at it, Hamlet
comes in and begins a conversation with one of the gravediggers. They begin to joke with each
other when Hamlet asked Whose grave s this, sirrah? (1092) in which the digger replies Mine sir
(1092). Hamlet uses the word lie in many ways such as lying on the ground or as in lying. He
responded to the digger, I think it be thine indeed, for thou liest in t (1092). Shakespeare shows
here that Hamlet and the gravedigger are evenly clever with their use of puns, as they use them left
and right. This here sets up a different scenario compared to the rest of the story. It changes things
up a bit by adding humor, while staying true to the original

Franchising Is A Major Driver Of Business Development And...
Franchising
According to Hill, Jones, and Schilling (2015), franchising is a strategy in which the franchisor or
the founding company grants the franchisees, the purchasing company, the right to use the
franchisor s name, reputation, and business model in return for a franchise fee and often a
percentage fee and often a percentage of the profit. The business must operate under strict
guidelines, follow the rules, regulations, and standards given by the founding franchisors (Hill, et al
2015, p. 182). This creates a business relationship between the two. According to Ribeiro, D.,
Akehurst, G. P. (2014) franchisinghas become a major driver of business development and
franchisor brand equity is a critical factor with a clear impact on the perception and behavior of the
franchise. Franchises brings together independent companies and establish agreements between two
parties.
Requirement to become a franchise
Hill, et al, (2015), states that typically, franchisees must adhere to some strict rules which governs
how to do business. The franchisor requires them to take the same basic business model and run
in a certain manner. They must have the same basic look, operate in a certain way, feel, offering,
pricing and business processes as other. The founding business assists the franchisee and typically
receives a percentage of the revenues (Hill, et al 2015, p. 182).
On the other Ribeiro, et al (2014), believes that in order for a franchisee to commence first, there is

Abortion Matters of Life and Death Casts Dispersions on...
Abortion
A.Jonathan Glover, in his article Matters of Life and Death casts dispersions on both pro abortion
and anti abortion debates citing them as too knee jerk emotional reactions diminishing the inherent
complexity of the other side (1. Glover, CC2006, p. 0110). Glover comprehensively addresses the
key points of both sides of the abortion debate and evaluates their inherent virtues, especially for
those who hold these opinions, then methodically points out its flaws. Ultimately, Glover comes to
the conclusion that though a fetus is a human at the moment of conception, the right to abort lies
with the mother and her own self determination.
Glover begins his article by claiming that the status of the fetus, historically, has been ... Show more

There are essentially three objections to murder: it takes away the victim s autonomy, it
prevents the victim from years of life it was due, and the effects of others who had some relation
to the victim (6. Glover, CC2006, p. 0110). Casting aside religious teachings because of the
variety of religions, Glover focuses on these three objections. Glover claims that a fetus has no
real autonomy of its own, thus can not be afforded its own rights and that even if the fetus did
have rights, the rights and autonomy of the mother supercede the rights of the fetus (7. Glover,
CC2006, p. 0113). In this way, the second reason also falls by the leeway because years of life due
to the mother if her life was threatened by the pregnancy or the years she has to invest in raising an
unwanted child is usurped by the birth of the fetus. And finally, though not explicitly mentioned, the
only other person that a fetus has any relation or interaction with is the mother, thus if the mother
wants the fetus aborted, the moral implications that arise reside solely with the mother.
It is in this way that Glover returns to his original assertion that to deny women the right to control
what happens in their bodies is wrong, but cautions that a fetus is a human right at conception, so
ending the life of the fetus is equal to ending the life of any human, yet the rights afforded to
women trump all of this and whatever moral pitfalls that a

Examples Of Fear In East Of Eden
In the novel East of Eden many examples show just how powerful fear can be if used for selfish
gain or as a defence mechanism. Fear being one of the biggest overtones (if not the biggest)
allows us to see how huge an influence fear can be in a person s life, as with Cathy the main
antagonist who lives to hold the fearof her blackmailing someone and men s sexual desires over
their heads to attain whatever her twisted desires are. Cathy the embodiment of evil in the novel,
who lives by fear is found consistently using it to her advantage to apprehend whatever her black
corrupted heart desires from the unsuspecting people around her. Often times she would blackmail
men and uses sex as her weapon of destruction, her blackmailing these men often led to them
committing suicidedue to the impending stress that she implements in their lives, in the beginning
of the novel Cathy preys on her lust driven teacher and eventually drives him to suicide and lures

Personal Narrative-Feminist Christian Girl Life
Decision making has never been my forte, exactly. I once drove around town with a friend for
forty minutes as we exchanged variants of, I don t know. Where do you want to eat? My
proclivity for avoiding to outright choose one thing over another has been deeply inset since I
was very young, and I believe it probably stems from an intense fear of rejection. Needless to say,
the choice to commit to something I cannot see was one that was daunting and, for a long time,
seemed puerile. Upon my mother passing away in 2004 and my father remarrying in 2007, the
cookie cutter Christian girl life I had always known permuted into something completely new. I

hardest I ever underwent, leaving permanent scars (both emotional and physical) I would never

my breaking point. I stayed strong for my younger brothers; I had to take care of them seeing as
all the foster parents we lived with were elderly. But all throughout the ordeal with courts and
foster families and multiple new schools, I felt smaller and smaller inside. I would occasionally
look at the self harm scars on my left arm and wish with all my might to be back with my father
and stepmother, because at least then I would be somewhere familiar. I felt that misery and
suicidal thoughts were a fair compromise if it meant I would be in a place I

The Epic Of Beowulf By William Shakespeare
To be a hero it was meant that you were a great warrior, but still have the values of being kind
and modest. Before Beowulf arrived to Herot he was known for his heroism, which was shown
again and again during the fight with Grendel, the fight with Grendel s mother, and his final battle
with the dragon. While his heroism was shown at each of these events, there were changes in his
heroic nature over time. Regardless of these changes, he was still seen as the mighty hero
throughout the epic poem of Beowulf. As Beowulf was making his voyage to Herot from Geatland
to help fight Grendel, the Dane s already knew of his heroic nature and how amazing he truly
was. He was brave and courageous, doing many things that others wouldn t dare do in their right
minds. He was incredibly strong unlike any other man, and was the son of Ecgtheow, the King
of Geats. There was no one else like him alive. / In his day, he was the mightiest man on Earth,

that. As a leader of the warriors, he was well respected for his bravery. The man whose name was

The Transformational Century And Historical Sources And...
1. Why is the 15th century called the transformational century and what historical sources and tools
can be used to verify this description! Please discuss fully.
While the 15th century had an abundance of things that collectively caused it to be called the
transformational century, such as the fall of the Ottoman Empire, the rise of the Byzantine Empire,
and the use of guns to fight battles, I believe that the printing press makes a strong statement about
the change in society. The reason the printing press stands out is it was a major change to how
information was exchanged. Prior to the invention of the printing press, it s estimated that only
about 10% men/1% women were literate (Willis, 2015). However, in 1674 literacy rates were
60% for men and 30% for women (Harvard, n.d.). This increase in literacy rates greatly aided the
Renaissance age by allowing information to be spread much more rapidly than previously
possible. Just as the printing press encouraged the renaissance age, the renaissance age
encouraged the use of the printing press. This can be seen by the rapid increase in the number of
towns that had printing presses in use, around 236 towns had their own print shops (Maxfield,
2009). This also caused ideologies to spread much faster than, exposing people to previously
unknown ways. Which in turn allowed people to develop their own new ideas. This increased
desire for knowledge is the heart why the 15th century is called the transformational century. There

  • 2. What Is Mercutio To Blame Dominic Hanecak Mr. Anderson Period 5 English 1 Honours 9 December 2014 Mercutio: To Blame or Not to Blame There are many tragedies that happen in our lives today, anyone can look in the media, on the web, or just look around a neighborhood to find them. In William Shakespeare s, Romeo and Juliet tragedies happen as well. There are many deaths because of two family s feud. Many people are responsible for the buildup to the tragedies in the play, however one person seems to be the most responsible for these deaths, and this person is Mercutio because of his constant pressure and sense of pride. One of the reasons Mercutio is most responsible for the tragedies in this play is that he is the one who convinces Romeo to go to the party at the Capulets. This is what started the chain of events that led up to the deaths of himself, Romeo, Juliet, Tybalt and Mrs. Montague. Mercutio tells Romeo that he is a lover. The higher the GDP the higher is the country s standards of living and the lower the GDP the lower is the country s standard of living. According to (Abuqamar, Coomans, Louckx, 2011), unemployment is an important factor in measuring country s economic strength like GDP per capita. If the unemployment level is high, then economic growth is very low because they have a negative relationship. A sustainable growth accompanied by macroeconomic policies that promotes employment will eventually cut down the level of unemployment in the economy and growth is considered as a solution to decrease unemployment (Hussain, Siddiqi, Iqbal, 2010). This is true because when government wants to increase output by building infrastructures and the like. They create job opportunities for those who are unemployed thus, alleviating unemployment in the economy. More people will get jobs and earn to sustain their standard of living or even increase their standard of living depending on their salaries. B. Contextualising genre within the Hong Kong film industry: Of all the international film industries across the globe Hong Kong is certainly one that is synonyms with genre cinema. Considering the commercial nature of its film industry, it seems only appropriate that when discussing Hong Kong cinema as a whole, genre seems to be a frequent and integral part of the conversation. The Hong Kong film industry was built to turn a profit and has become the dominant figure in all of East Asian cinema, relying heavily on exporting its films to Mainland China and Taiwan, as well as local box office sales. Ding Tzann Lii describes this relationship as one of marginal imperialism and compares the Hong Kong industries hold over East Asia to that of Hollywood s over the rest of the world. (1998: 125) However, with such a large demand for product Hong Kong has struggled to produce enough films each year to maintain its industries growth. Production rapidly became focused on making films quickly, cheaply and with the intention of being sold easily. • 8. Persuasive Essay On Political Advertising Political ads can be viewed as annoying, excessive, biased, and unnecessary. This opinion is shared among many people within America with many wanting all ads to stop entirely. Now, are these ads truly needed or are they just to make a candidate look good? Certain strategies used in political campaigns can be confusing and frustrating. However, they can also help bring people together to discuss their opinions and beliefs in order to decide who to support. Political ads can encourage people to come together because of a common cause, improving our nation, and who is the best candidatefor President. Political signs and commercials are one tactic that can be misleading. Many people feel that candidates use bandwagons and endorsements to help them look good and promise immediate changes which are either not possible or can take a long time to achieve. This is like with Mondale Ferraro, who made many different types of images to make him look more popular (Document A). However, these images also help people decide who would be betterfor the job based off of looks, beliefs, and other attributes. I would use these to help make myself stand out from the other candidates by putting in true aspects into my campaign so they do not put false hope into what I stand for. This also helps decide what issues the public focuses on the most based on their beliefs. The candidates running for President try to get rid of the issues the public are concerned about to encourage the public to vote for them. Bandwagons use well known and respected groups of people to influence the public to vote for a candidate because they are doing it. This can be done with several methods, like endorsement, glittering generalities, and even using a spoil system to intrigue people into electing them. This is like the Reagan TV ad where he tried to improve his image with the actions he had promised, which spread with the public (Document B). In addition, it helps clarify what people want most out of a candidate for their benefit, as well as their own benefits. I would use bandwagons, because it helps get other people s attention and make myself popular to others. But these methods can help a candidate who already has a lot of public support. This ... From his childhood to adulthood, he is an example of great courage, strength, perseverance and success. He once said, The only man who never makes mistakes is a man who never does anything. You must make your body. Theodore replied I will make my body! without any hesitation. Thus his father installed a gym on the second floor of their home. He also took up boxing and became very strong and physically active. He served in the Civil War, became an author, historian, explorer, statesman and conservationist. Theodore Roosevelt s father, Franklin Roosevelt, was part of the Union and his mother, Martha Bulloch, was a Confederate. However, his father did not want to serve in the war because it meant he would have to shoot his wife s two brothers who were Confederate generals. Therefore, he did what many wealthy men did during that time, and paid two men to take his place. Even though Theodore Roosevelt looked up to his father, this impacted him in a very negative way. Some historians even analyzed that his father buying men to take his place is what influenced him to becoming a soldier and gave him the determination to prove that he was a good one. • 10. Tao Te Ching Of Lao-Tzu Analysis Tao Te Ching of Lao Tzu is a book with many chapters in it showing the two different sides to basically everything. To break it down, Tao means path or way , Te means to get , and Ching means great book . So the Tao was the force that controlled the universe and appreciated the way, to find balance between opposites. The book, Tao Te Ching has been said to been written by a Laozi an old master and has been said that the true author (or authors ) name has been lost. In the chapters between the book it tells how to live a life of integrity and of greatness per say. It also has contradictions or paradoxes which allows us to see the both perspectives of each side. It shows us that there are always two sides to everything. Tao Te Ching... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was the little things that he did that made my opinion change on him. You can t judge others on their appearance because there might be beauty inside of them or ugliness inside of them either one. The other contradiction in the Tao Te Ching was good and evil . This concept can kind of connect back to the ugliness and beauty in the ugliness kind of being evil and beauty being good. Of course, as it has already been expressed before by the author of this book, there are two sides to everything. When things are good, they are good of course but there is always something that is going to change that. The same thing happens when things are bad, they are bad but then it has to change to good at some point. What I thought of when I saw good and evil was the tree of knowledge of good and evil from the Bible. In the Bible, near the beginning of the book Genesis 2:9 it says that there are two trees, the tree of life and the tree of knowledge of good and evil. The Lord God made all kinds of trees grow out of the ground trees that were pleasing to the eye and good for food. In the middle of the garden were the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil . When Adam and Eve sinned and ate from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, that s when the concept of good and evil became true. When things were going good, something would upset that and something bad would happen. What I believe is that if Adam and Eve hadn t have sinned then ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Expectations of a First Line Supervisor in a Law Enforcement Agency By Daniel Parra Supervision in the Criminal Justice Field Professor Chavez May 15, 2013 Abstract The first line supervisor in law enforcement is commonly referred to as a Sergeant. These positions are of great importance to a law enforcement agency. There are many pros and cons to becoming a first line supervisor. These positions are tasked with the expectation of maintaining a level of balance within the patrol ranks, as well as remaining fair and impartial among those ranks. There are also many expectations of subordinates. In order for both parties to meet these expectations requires a close working relationship. The first line supervisor in a law ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A supervisor must remain approachable from their subordinates. With this approachability and accessibility the supervisor will be successful in building a better working relationship. The difficulty with some supervisors is the ability to draw the line between having a personal relationship with their subordinates and a professional relationship. With a close working relationship a supervisor should be able to confront the subordinate and be able to resolve the issue. The resolution may range from simply counseling the subordinate, all the way up to possible disciplinary action. Approximately 25 percent of all law enforcement disciplinary action is due to drug use. (More amp; Miller, 2007) Supervisors must remain vigilant on possible drug use. Many supervisors are unwilling to discipline their subordinates, which could ultimately lead to their downfall. When disciplinary action is necessary it is the responsibility of the supervisor to remain fair and impartial. When initiating disciplinary action the supervisor must put aside any personal feelings toward the subordinate, and act solely on a professional level. They must act in the best interest of the subordinate and the department as a whole. It is important that when the disciplinary action is necessary it is done in a constructive manner. In 1863 he was asked to chair a local town meeting at a church in New Bedford, Massachusetts but didn t know how to preside. He assumed the assembly would behave, but the meeting was a disaster, lasted 14 hours and really didn t accomplish anything. General Robert was very frustrated and vowed to never again attend another meeting until he knew more about Parliamentary Law. In this comparison I will be analyzing how these author s writing styles portray the character development in Silko s main character Tayo, and the minor characters which Wolfe documented. In both pieces, the reader can see that the characters are presented either internal or external conflicts, and sometimes both, that shape their realities as well as affect the decisions they make. In order to convey this characterprogression, both Silko and Wolfe illustrate the ways that their characters gain their acceptance of their social standings in society, and more importantly in themselves and what they believe, through the use of fragmented writingstyles as well as the inclusion of flashbacks and poems. Before I analyze these author s writing styles, I want to point out the different obstacles that these characters are facing. In The Electric Koolaid Acid Test the Pranksters are subjected to society s judgement as they try to achieve their goal of challenging societal norms through the use of taking drugs as an act of defiance to these standards. [change slide] The conformity that they are fighting is the influences that are supposedly forced upon the young because, as Wolfe writes, [change slide] their doors of perception have not yet been closed. It operates as a single institution with one foreign policy although it is composed of 28 individual countries with their own foreign policies. This paper, therefore, seeks to understand the institutional organization of the European Unionin regards to foreign policy as well as provide an analysis of the actions the EU takes in its diplomacy. The EU has an interesting, albeit confusing, system in which it operates. In order to understand the organization of its foreign policy, we must look into the different institutions which govern the EU and explain their roles. First, there is the European Commission, which is composed of 28 ministers from each country and manages the day to day business of the EU as well as drafting proposals. The President of the European Commission is essentially seen as the head of the EU. It is designed to represent the EU as a whole. The European Council is composed of the president or prime minister of each member country and represents each countries interests. The President of the Commission and the High Representative of Foreign Affairs sit as nonvoting council members. An awareness of different learning styles can help teachers to sustain motivation by encouraging and facilitating pupils use of preferred styles but also providing support when using alternative approaches (Highland Council Education, 2010; Honey and Mumford, 1986, cited in McGill and Beaty, 1995). Active participation by the student group was encouraged throughout by myself, as their tutor. One example of the different methods of teaching and learning used on the module involves discussion of observations made in the workplace in week 2 (Appendix 1). Incorporating the use of observation of children by the learners recognises that this is one of the most important aspects of day to day professional practice when working with children in early years (Hall, 2005), and therefore also has a motivating effect on the learners. When doing business or just simply greeting an Indian person, the last thing you want to happen is offend them or their culture. Knowing there are different ways of communicating between cultures will have a positive outcome from a business aspect and also a social aspect. The final cross cultural difference I will discuss is the collectivist culture of India versus the individualistic culture of the United States. India is more of a collectivist culture, whereas the U.S. is strongly individualistic. The family is at the center of Indian society, which is largely patriarchal. Several generations of a family are brought together to live in one household. The hierarchical nature of the Indian culture extends into the family as well, where the head of the family makes the key decisions for the household (Kumar, 2005). An Indian s primary loyalty usually lies with their family rather than with their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many colonists were furious when the British tried to recruit Indians, African slaves, and German mercenaries. This news would astonish most because the general public has been told that ethanol is beneficial for the United States, due to it being a renewable resource, however, that is not true. When one thinks of the qualities of a renewable resource, they think of it being beneficial to the environment, having a positive energy balance, not requiring subsidies, mandates, and tariffs to function, and should not raise the price of its main input. Most renewable resources meet these goals, corn ethanol, however, does not meet any of these goals. It is safe to call ethanol a false economy because it does not have any... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The ethanol production process starts with growing corn, on average an acre of corn yields close to 7,110 pounds of corn that require 140 gallons of fossil fuels to grow through the use of liquid fertilizer and powering machinery (Ethanol Fuel from Corn par. 4). The corn is harvested and transported to an ethanol refinery where it is ground, then water is added to create a mash in which enzymes break down the corn into sugar, afterward the sugar is mixed with yeast and fermented to produce ethanol (Ethanol Fuel: is ethanol par. 9 10). During the process of growing and processing the corn needed to manufacture one gallon of ethanol, it requires 131,000 British Thermal Units (BTU) to generate a gallon of ethanol while a gallon of ethanol produces only 77,000 BTU (Ethanol Fuel from Corn par. 5). The net ratio of energy for ethanol production is undesirable because ethanol has barely over half of the total energy needed to produce ethanol. Other materials can produce ethanol, such as switch grass or wood biomass, however, their energy returns are just as atrocious, needing forty five percent and fifty seven percent more energy to produce ethanol than it provides, respectively (Lang par. 5). The word venipunture in medical terminology is defined as puncture to the vein which often is performed by a phlebotomist; this healthcare professional is a trained individual who specializes in drawing blood. Let s face it, many of us are afraid of needles, even I would have never thought of performing this procedure myself. So if I did, so can you. Let s begin by proceeding with the first and most important step, greet and identify the patient. Always ask his or her name and date of birth. It is necessary to make the patient feel welcomed and secure. Verifying their identity is a procedure for assurance that all given tests are not performed on wrong patients, this could result in wrong test results for the patient. Start with gathering the following supplies: A pair of gloves, needle, vacutainer (tube holder), blood collection tube, tourniquet, alcohol, gauze and band Aids. Operant conditioning dealt with operants like internal actions that could have effect on surrounding environment. He then set out to identify the process that made certain operant behaviors more or less likely to occur. While Presenting May Be A Literal Objectification Of Slaves While Presenting may be a literal objectification of slaves in Walker s work, this overarching concept can also be seen in her works Untitled and Gone. In Untitled, the young woman is depicted as naked, a common practice from slavery. During the practice, slaves were often forced to stand nude and be inspected by potential masters, as if part of a crude, human dog show. The woman in this picture seems vulnerable in a similar fashion, forced to stand in an apparently submissive state to the fully clothed men and women beside her in order to have her work be considered at all by this high art world. As Steer phrases it, the aim [of Brecht s pieces] is to promote an attitude of regional activism, an ability to see things could be other than they are (Steer 639). Brecht accomplishes a desire for activism by alienating the audience from his characters, or by trying to free socially conditioned phenomena from that stamp of familiarity which protects them against our grasp (Brecht 192). The hero is more a creation of a social and political atmosphere than a living breathing character, and is therefore viewed as an object, something inhuman. Walker s caricatures follow this structure, ranging from the slave men and women in Gone and Practicing to the young artist in Untitled: all of them are representations of greater ideas, yet are warped enough in design or position that they are freed from a complete pathetic connection. A type of historical fiction is formed, close enough for us to grasp and consider the themes presented, yet distanced enough for the audience to feel a desire to change things, as according to Brecht. Walker s art is therefore an entirely new genre with this Brechtian lens, serving as a form of epic art rather than simply epic theatre or political art. Through the objectification and therefore alienation of her subjects with regards to the audience, Walker appears to be inciting a drive towards activity, be it a simple acknowledgment of her themes or the creation of a spark for activism. • 45. How Does Shakespeare Use Humor In Hamlet William Shakespeare s Hamlet is a tragedy that tells the unfortunate fate of a royal family. One would expect nothing but sadness in such a story. However, this is not the case. Besides the story being a tragedy, Shakespeare uses humor as a hint to the characters of the tragedy that Hamlet has gone insane due to the death of his father. Furthermore, humor serves as comic relief throughout the tragedy. This humor is used to justify Hamlet s madness as it illustrates just what Hamlet has been dealing with in losing his father. Horatio tells Hamlet that he and some guards have seen the ghost of King Hamlet. Curious, Hamlet waits the next night for the ghost. Sure enough it appears and tells Hamlet that his uncle Claudius killed his father. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The events that happen before the graveyard scene are horrendous. Hamlet accidently kills Polonius after mistaking him with the Claudius, in which he thought was the one behind the curtains in Gertrude s bedroom. The death of Polonius causes Ophelia to go nuts and eventually, she too dies. Humor is used as comic relief as seen in the graveyard scene in Act V, scene 1 with Hamlet and the gravediggers. The diggers joke about the death of Ophelia. While they re at it, Hamlet comes in and begins a conversation with one of the gravediggers. They begin to joke with each other when Hamlet asked Whose grave s this, sirrah? (1092) in which the digger replies Mine sir (1092). Hamlet uses the word lie in many ways such as lying on the ground or as in lying. He responded to the digger, I think it be thine indeed, for thou liest in t (1092). Franchising According to Hill, Jones, and Schilling (2015), franchising is a strategy in which the franchisor or the founding company grants the franchisees, the purchasing company, the right to use the franchisor s name, reputation, and business model in return for a franchise fee and often a percentage fee and often a percentage of the profit. The business must operate under strict guidelines, follow the rules, regulations, and standards given by the founding franchisors (Hill, et al 2015, p. 182). This creates a business relationship between the two. According to Ribeiro, D., Akehurst, G. P. Glover comprehensively addresses the key points of both sides of the abortion debate and evaluates their inherent virtues, especially for those who hold these opinions, then methodically points out its flaws. There are essentially three objections to murder: it takes away the victim s autonomy, it prevents the victim from years of life it was due, and the effects of others who had some relation to the victim (6. Glover, CC2006, p. 0110). Casting aside religious teachings because of the variety of religions, Glover focuses on these three objections. Glover claims that a fetus has no real autonomy of its own, thus can not be afforded its own rights and that even if the fetus did have rights, the rights and autonomy of the mother supercede the rights of the fetus (7. Glover, CC2006, p. 0113). In this way, the second reason also falls by the leeway because years of life due to the mother if her life was threatened by the pregnancy or the years she has to invest in raising an unwanted child is usurped by the birth of the fetus. And finally, though not explicitly mentioned, the only other person that a fetus has any relation or interaction with is the mother, thus if the mother wants the fetus aborted, the moral implications that arise reside solely with the mother. It is in this way that Glover returns to his original assertion that to deny women the right to control what happens in their bodies is wrong, but cautions that a fetus is a human right at conception, so ending the life of the fetus is equal to ending the life of any human, yet the rights afforded to women trump all of this and whatever moral pitfalls that a ... • 52. The Transformational Century And Historical Sources And... 1. Why is the 15th century called the transformational century and what historical sources and tools can be used to verify this description! Please discuss fully. While the 15th century had an abundance of things that collectively caused it to be called the transformational century, such as the fall of the Ottoman Empire, the rise of the Byzantine Empire, and the use of guns to fight battles, I believe that the printing press makes a strong statement about the change in society. The reason the printing press stands out is it was a major change to how information was exchanged. Prior to the invention of the printing press, it s estimated that only about 10% men/1% women were literate (Willis, 2015). However, in 1674 literacy rates were 60% for men and 30% for women (Harvard, n.d.). This increase in literacy rates greatly aided the Renaissance age by allowing information to be spread much more rapidly than previously possible. Just as the printing press encouraged the renaissance age, the renaissance age encouraged the use of the printing press. This can be seen by the rapid increase in the number of towns that had printing presses in use, around 236 towns had their own print shops (Maxfield, 2009). This also caused ideologies to spread much faster than, exposing people to previously unknown ways. Which in turn allowed people to develop their own new ideas. This increased desire for knowledge is the heart why the 15th century is called the transformational century. There ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
