Figurative Language In Jeanne Duprau s The City Of Ember
In Jeanne DuPrau s book The City of Ember it takes place in a very dark city without power or
electricity and nobody s happy. And when two kids are presented with the opportunity to help save
their city and risk their lives, they are the ones who want to do so. They go on this journey and hit
many obstacles on the way but they have the mindset to never give up and it may or may not help
them. One theme that can be supported throughout the book is that when someone risks their life for
others they can earn great respect from other people and other peers.
The theme in the story The City of Ember is shown early on in the book and it is represented by using
author s craft. The author s craft that is being used in the book is figurative language, such as similes
and metaphors. She uses figurative language in many different ways that can support the theme. For
example Fear had settled over the city. Lina felt it like a cold chill (Duprau 85). This is a good
example of figurative language and it also supports the theme. This is a good example, because it is
describing how bad the city is and also how Lina realized she needed to take charge in saving the city.
Duprau also uses another good example of figurative language towards the beginning also. For
instance it states in the book Once they are out the door, Lizzie said goodbye and scurried away as if
Linas bad luck were a disease that she might catch (Duprau 58). This is a good representation because
it is leading up to the

Essay on Tanglewood Case Study
Staffing Strategies In reviewing Tanglewood case study 1, we evaluate all aspects of the company in
order to determine which strategic staffing decision would potentially be suitable for meeting the
organizations goals and staffing requirements. They re 13 different staffing strategies which are
distributed into two categories. Each one of the strategies is designed in a format of this one verses
that one concept, making it so one would decide which would be best suited for the company. The two
strategic staffing decision categories are staffing levels and the other is staffing quality. Staffing levels
consist of : Acquire or develop talent, Hire yourself or outsource, external or internal hiring, core or
flexible workforce, hire or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When hiring quickly it will limit the area, a person can go into by only having a need positions. This
can create the fact of someone being over qualified for a position but having to put them in that
position due to not enough positions available that the individual is qualified for. It would be best for
Tanglewood to focus more on acquiring talent internal vs. externally because most of the people they
hire would be the type to be looking for career progression for a long term career and they would not
have as much of a need to hire a large amount of workers at one time or the need to create new
specific entry level types of jobs. A core or flexible workforce is both needed for Tanglewood because
of the size of the company. A core workforce to maintain the integrity of the store year round and
knowing the company s values and mission to help keep it running smooth. A flexible workforce is
great to cover down during the seasonal time of shopping. This will help have associates available to
work at all different hour s verses only available at this time. It is important for a company to have
flexible core workers as well to help cover down when and where needed to maintain the customer
satisfaction that its customers would need. Deciding to hire or retain employees can be challenging for
Tanglewood because the need to get the right people in the right job in order to maintain the right
types of people the

Nicotine Receptors
For over a long period of time nicotine contained in tobacco has been documented as substances that
develops health problems in the body if used, continuous research on this alkaloid have shown that the
substance have certain beneficial effects of the body. What made it a potential drug target is following
the identification of a family of genes coding for neuronal nicotinic acetylcholine receptors also
known as (nAChRs) and more knowledge of their expression and function in the brain central nervous
system (Suto Zacharias, 2005). nAChRs are receptor proteins that can respond to neurotransmitter
acetylcholine and drugs in the body. In human beings they are located in the brain central nervous
system and they play a significant role in peripheral ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When nAChRs are activated, they enhance the release of many neurotransmitters that are involved in
focus, attention and executive memory. It is also believed that the substance has a direct role in
information storage in the brain through modulation of glutamatergic neurotransmission (Lloyd
Williams, 2000). Studies have shown that it can be used in treatment Neurodegenerative diseases such
as Alzheimer s and Parkinson s diseases. This has been shown by a situation in which smokers who
survive the negative effects of smoking have a low incidence of being attacked by neurodegenerative
diseases (Lloyd Williams, 2000). It has been proven that acute administration of α4β2 selective
agonist or nicotine on a person suffering from Alzheimer diseases improves recall behavior. There are
findings from the biological psychiatry that many unmedicated depressed patients exhibit
hypothalamic pituitary axis (HPA) hyperactivity (Shytle et al., 2002). So far the available evidence
have shown that nAChR have played a significant role in mediating stress related and more likely
depression inducing neuroendocrine effects of Ach (Shytle et al., 2002). An example is that in rat
experiment, it has been proven that nAChR antagonist block the physostigmine induced rise in plasma
corticosterone levels of rats, furthermore, ACh induced CRF release from the brain hypothalamus is
repressed by nAChR

Research Paper On Airbus A380
The biggest commercial aircraft on the market right now is the Airbus A380. This amazing feat of
engineering is so spectacular that it is the biggest that a commercial aircraft can be! The airbus A380
can be described in many different ways, most people call it spectacular or even just flat out amazing
that something this big can even get off the ground. While the industry continues to make
improvements to flight, they are also keeping the costs down, so that anyone flying can experience
flying in an Airbus, especially if they are traveling abroad. Many would say that the idea of building
the Airbus was thought of by a French transport minister named Jean Chamant and a German
economics minister, named Karl Schiller in 1969, but in all actuality, the idea was originated in in
1967 by ministers in France, Germany and Britain. They all agreed for the purpose of strengthening
European co operation in the field of aviation technology and thereby promoting economic and
technological progress in Europe, to take appropriate measures for the joint development and
production of an airbus (Early Days, 1967 1969). They knew that if they did not come up with a new
concept for air flight, that the Americans would always be the leaders in the aircraft industry.
They knew it would take the effort of not just one country, but many that had built different aspects of
planes, and were well known for that contribution. France was to supply the cockpit, the control
systems, and the lower

Pragmatism In James Joyce s Araby
Question #1
The first three paragraphs of the tale focus largely on the setting because these setting symbolize the
key concept of the story. Settings strengthen the theme and the characters by using the metaphors of
darkness and light. The experiences of the boy in this story portrays how people often expect more
than the real world can provide and then feel they disappointed and disillusioned.
The author refers to the obscure and dark images to make the reality of boy living in the dreary town
of Araby more eloquent. He uses dark and the bleak references to create the mood or atmosphere and
then refers to the bright light while discussing the Mangan s sister. Bright light is referred to create a
fairy tale world filled with beautiful ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He hardly meets or talks to the lady of her dreams. But he builds all his romantic fantasy around her
calm and sedate image which is his backbone in an otherwise drab daily life. His feeling for her
grows. Finally, he met with her dream lady and she refers to a fair called Araby. She does not really
tell him to go to the place but the boy s entire desires now moved to that one specific place. He
conceptualizes this place as a fantasy land filled with the innocence and purity. The rest of the tale is
about the boy s rather delayed and troubled visit to that place. He then finds it as a drab market or
bazaar where everything is so artificial and on sale. He finds human speech meaningless there. This
bazaar seems charmless to the boy and he became severely disappointed. At the end of the story, when
the boy was standing all alone in the dark places, sees himself in the mockery of all his stupidity. It is
a deeply disturbing and yet a learning moment for the boy. It is a slice of experience that will make a
man out of the boy and perhaps a state of the transition for the boy from the dream world to the real

Indentured Servants And African Slaves
As a student of United States history, I have learned new information concerning certain subject
matters. My prior knowledge of US history about these certain topics, such as, indentured servants and
the institution of slavery was minimal. The reason for this is most of my prior knowledge of these
important topics were forgotten. The question I always asked myself what was the difference between
indentured servants and African slaves? Through my personal studying on the subject matter, I have
discovered new information that clarified all my misconceptions about historical topics like,
indentured servants from Europe, African slavery, and finding the similarities and differences of these
two types of labor.
During the 1600s Europe was absorbed in the Thirty Year s War, which depressed the economy at the
time. Many young males skilled and unskilled were looking for work. These young men had hoped
that there might be some prosperity in the New World. These young teenage men were eager for a
grand opportunity in Virginia. However, these new young immigrants coming over to the American
colonies would be considered as indentured servants. In the textbook, American Stories A History of
the United States mentions that, In exchange for transportation across the Atlantic, they agreed to
serve the master for a stated number of years (Brands et al. 37). These young male indentured servants
were in their early twenties. Skilled indentured servants often work for four or

Cleaver offers a shift of analysis of the international debt crisis by examining it through class terms.
International debt crisis was seen as the inability/failure of capital to control working class power.
Cleaver explains this by analyzing the origins/genesis of debt, locates the continuation of the crisis as
the failure of capital to deal with working class power, and on why working class should focus on the

Althusser (1970) forwarded the idea of Ideological State Apparatuses that function through ideology.
He identified these various ISAs as religious, educational, family, legal, political (includes political
system and parties), trade unions, communications (media), and cultural (literature, sports etc). These
ISAs represses working class mobilization not through violence but through ideology. Cleaver failed
to see that working class self valorization is hindered by equally powerful forces: the Ideological State
Apparatuses (Althusser 1970). In different countries working class are repressed not only in the field
of the traditional State apparatuses (repressive) like the Government, the Administration, the Army,
the Police, the Courts, the Prisons etc that functions by violence but also by Ideological State

class political consciousness which stops them to wield political power to change the system where

Taking a Look at the Great Recession
Many economists have come to consider the 2008 financial crisis as the worst recession since the
1930 s Great Depression. The recession led to the total collapse of financial institutions, the
withdrawal of banks by the national governments and the total collapse of stock markets across the
world. The housing market also suffered in many areas, which resulted in prolonged unemployment,
evictions and foreclosures. The crisis played a key role in the failure of significant businesses, the
decline in the wealth of consumers, estimated in trillions of American dollars, a downturn in economic
activities and the debt crisis of the European countries. On 9 August 2007, the Banque National de
Paris (BNP), a French bank and financial company whose global headquarters are located in London,
stopped withdrawals from three hedge funds citing a total evaporation of liquidity. This marked the
beginning of the active phase of the crisis. In 2007, the bursting of the housing bubble of the U.S was
at its peak. The bursting resulted in plummeting of security values tied to the U.S. real estate pricing.
The complex interplay of policies that provided easier lending of loans, overpricing of sub prime
mortgages, on a theoretical basis that the prices would continue to increase, and inadequate capital
holdings from insurance companies and banks to back their financial commitments contributed to the
bursting of the bubble (Boatright, 2010). During 2008, securities suffered huge losses due to

Strategies For Independence
5 Big Steps Parents Can Take To Help Their Kids Gain More Independence For Preschool From social
skills to language skills and all kinds of problem solving techniques, your little one is in for some big
learning when they enter a preschool program, but they could face challenges if the haven t acquired
enough independence. Although it s your paternal instinct to take care of and control everything in
their developing lives, independence is what s going to help them succeed and excel, once they re on
their own in the classroom. Here are five important steps you can take to encourage more
independence, in the most caring and supportive way: 1. Raise The Bar With Your Expectations

As hard as it is to just stand by and watch your child, whether they re succeeding or not, they need that
space to learn, evolve and experiment, or else they re always going to be looking for you to rescue
them. Entering any preschool program, your child won t have the luxury of constant individual
attention, meaning they will have no choice but to sink or swim. Since you want them to swim, start
giving them room to self resolve issues now, while they still have you as a safety net. Before long,
they ll understand that if they want some problems solved, they have to put on their thinking caps, use
patience and take matters into their own little hands. If it seems hard for you to cease the hoovering,
just wait until you feel the total exhilaration of watching your child accomplish something all on their
own; it s such a breath taking moment for parents, you ll automatically start giving them more room to
act independently in many instances. 3. Assign A Simple Job To Your Child You don t realize how
much your child depends on you for everything, until you ask them to do something on their own.
They might look at you as if you re perfectly out of your mind or they might even cry about the new
task, but being a responsible, working member of a team in your house is going to go a long way
toward helping your child succeed in a busy classroom. Give them a simple job they must tend to
daily, showering them with affection and praise when they accomplish

AP-Suffrage In England
Describe the steps taken between 1832 and 1918 to extend the suffrage in England. What group and
movements contributed to the extension of the vote? Several groups, movements and reform bills
passed between 1832 and 1918 extended the suffrage in England. The process took many years and
the voting rights were first given to the wealthier and more distinguished men, then later to the less
wealthy men, and finally to women. The major reform bills that extended the suffrage in England were
the Reform Bill of 1832, 1867, and 1884, and the Qualification of Women Act in 1917. (Mazour,
Peoples) The suffrage movement began in 1832 when the Reform Bill of 1832 was passed by
parliment. The Prime Minister since 1830, Earl Grey, authored the Bill and ... Show more content on

Another problem with the voting system was the lack of a private vote. Employers could influence the
way their employees voted by threatening to punish them if they failed to vote for their preffered
candidate. This problem was fixed in 1872, when William Gladstone s government passed the Ballot
Act which guaranteed a secret system of voting. Although the immediate results of the reform act were
not earth shattering, the country had taken, as Lord Derby said, a leap in the dark. Strikes, union
advances, and labor organization were powerful forces for change in the final years of the century.
William Gladstone was elected as Prime Minister of England for the second time in 1880 and the most
important legislative action that took place during his second ministry was the Reform Act of 1884.
The reform act was rejected the first time it was presented to the House of Lords, but accepted the
second time because it was accompanied by a redistribution act, which had the following implications.
(i) seventy nine towns with populations smaller than 15,000 lost their right to elect an MP; (ii) thirty
six with populations between 15,000 and 50,000 lost one of their MPs and became single member
constituencies; (iii) towns with populations between 50,000 and 165,000 were given two seats; (iv)
larger towns and the country constituencies were divided into single member constituencies

Dopamine Plays A Role In The Development Of Schizophrenia
Schizophrenia
Schizophrenia is a life long disorder that affects about one percent of the population (Mueser McGurk,
2004). The cause of this mental illness is still unclear. Studies have suggested that Schizophrenia does
not arise from one factor but from a combination of genetic, environmental, and social factors (Liddle,
1987). People diagnosed with Schizophrenia struggle to deal with a multitude of symptoms that make
it difficult to function (Mueser McGurk, 2004). Antipsychotic medications are a popular treatment of
the symptoms of Schizophrenia (Mueser McGurk, 2004). Research is constantly being done to
develop these medications to enhance the quality of life of those diagnosed with Schizophrenia. Over
the years, experiments have produced evidence to suggest that dopamine plays a role in the
development of Schizophrenia (Howes, McCutcheon, Stone, 2015). Dopamine is a neurotransmitter
that is produced in the substantia nigra and ventral tegmental regions of the brain. The belief that
dopamine was involved in Schizophrenia arose after multiple studies performed with compounds
produced an increase in extracellular concentrations of dopamine (Lieberman, Kane, Alvir, 1987). The
patients that were administered these compounds had similar symptoms to those observed from
patients who were diagnosed with Schizophrenia (Lieberman et al., 1987). The results of these earlier
studies were expounded on by research that suggested increased striatal dopamine

Sundiata Myths
The world of ancient Africa is a foreign one to many who do not live on the continent. The concept
that Africa was once rather like Europe in its many medieval kingdoms, and their upheavals and
struggles to be the greatest power, is not widely considered by the general population. Ancient Africa
was a place of great tales, heroes, and conquests however. The memories of these still linger even
today. The storytellers of Africa are griots. They are a mysterious group, who hold the legends and
history of Africa, and orally pass them down father to son through the generations. One of these great
stories is the Epic of Sundiata. Maghan Mari Djata, commonly known as Sundiata or Sundiata Keita,

As this legend is so well known, and has been told so many times, it is difficult to separate fact from
fiction. The Epic of Sundiata, is still however a gold mine of true knowledge if one only sorts out the
myths and pyrite. Still that is not so simple a task. The epic was for the longest time an oral tradition,
told by the griots to the villages and cities they lived in. The original griot of the story lived it, and
although the epic has most likely been added to for dramatic effect over the centuries, the original tale
must have been much closer to the truth. There is some doubt however over the legitimacy of some
parts of the story. In the epic Sundiata and his main rival Soumaoro, are accomplished sorcerers
(particularly Soumaoro), as well as other women magicians in the story. It is in fact very unlikely that
Sundiata and Soumaoro communicated by familiars (animals that supposedly lend their sight, hearing,
and speaking to the sorcerers who control them, in this case Soumaoro s owl), or that Soumaoro was
invincible for their first couple battles, Nor is it probable that Sundiata s mother was possessed by an

with his jokes. The Office is more negative with their humor than Parks and Recreation. A lot of the
humor on The Office comes from making fun of or bringing down the other characters. This kind of a
comedy makes for a funny and intriguing TV show. Also The Office has a bigger cast. Throughout the

Argumentative Essay On Wrongful Convictions And DNA
Wrongful Convictions and DNA
I am sided with the right to allow DNAAnalysis for a crime a suspect is convicted for committing but
is pledging not guilty in the trial. About 0.5% convictions of crime are the innocent serving jail time in
prison or death row and are not even the actual suspect of the crime scene putting other people at fault
of those who have not done any harm. This even violates an individual s right of freedom as they are
being wrongfully accused and imprisoned. These people who are being accused should have the right
to be proven they are not the suspect by true accurate DNA analysis over false eyewitness or
misidentification as even it can be used as an importance of pulling vital clues regarding the
perpetrator of a crime in which a victim s condition is unrecognizable to family or friends.
DNA testing is a critical and accurate tool in linking accused and even convicted criminals for crimes,
and should be widely used to assess guilt or innocence before jail sentences are imposed. It was

Potassium Sulfate And Sodium Chloride Essay
Introduction A solution is a uniform mixture of two or more components. The components can be
identified as solutes or a solvent. The solutes are the minor components of the solution, and they are
what get dissolved. The solvent is the major component of the solution, and it does the dissolving.
Solutions are measured in terms of solubility. Solubility refers to the maximum amount of solute that
will dissolve in the solvent. When the maximum amount of solute has dissolved, the solution becomes
saturated. In solving the solubility, two things must be known: the mass of the solute and the mass of
the solution.
Different techniques can be used to determine the solubility of a solution, such as filtration through
paper cloth or evaporation by heat. In this experiment, the solubility was obtained through evaporation
of the solvent by heat. Potassium sulfate and sodium chloride will used in solutions to test the
solubilities at room temperature and approximately 40℃. Potassium sulfate will also be used in a
solution to test the uncertainty of the experiment.

John Bunyan Research Paper
John Bunyan a man who was and is important to Christianity, but who was he? John Bunyan was born

Grace Abounding to the Chief of Sinners two very important pieces of Christian Literature for the

Protestant leader, and was faithful to God. Bunyan s life will be analyzed from an aspect of his life,
split into two topics of early life and adult life, his worldview, and his accomplishments in his lifetime.
John Bunyan s early life did not make him look like a servant for the Lord. His childhood was not well

1644 during the spring both his mother and sister passed away. Later, in the same year but during the

The Controversial Issue Of Abortion
Abortion On November 23, 2012, the center for disease control release new abortion statistics for

estimated 1.21 million abortions in 2008. You drop the number by 5%, and you still get 1.15 million
abortion. The issue of abortion is a very controversial topic anywhere in the world, but in many
countries abortion is still legal. Is there a justification for stopping a pregnancy? People think that
abortion is a personal decision and that it is their body. The responsibility of what to do with your
body is of each person. In other hand, other people think that a fetus from the moment of creation is a

Assess the significance of popular pressure in bringing...
Assess the significance of popular pressure in bringing about improved representation and greater
democracy in Britain in the period 1830 1931 The period of 1830 1931 saw gradual yet largely
significant governmental reforms which led to an extension of the franchise from 500,000 to around
21 million. Prior to 1832, Britain s franchise composed of a selective elite of the landowning class,
however the 1832 reform act, although a disappointment in the extent of what it achieved, paved the
way for further reform as it brought people together in rebellion (the Bristol Riots). This proved that
popular pressure had the potential to be very successful in orchestrating parliamentary reform. The
influence of pressure from outside parliament was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Whether a revolution was possible is questionable amongst historians, however as Eric Evans wrote,
What mattered was that enough MPs and Peers believed that it was, and acted accordingly. 2 It could
also be said that unwittingly the government had evoked an atmosphere of popular pressure in Britain
as everyone had seen how easily they had surrendered to the rebels demands. Despite the bill s
limitations, the rioters had after all successfully achieved the first piece of legislation which was an
incentive for future pressure from outside Parliament, hence quickening the process of improving
representation and democracy in Britain. The Hyde Park riots of 1866 were another example of
working class radicalism in protest for reform. Similarly to the Bristol Riots, the rebels were
destructive by force and although there was said to be more mischief than malice , a policeman was
killed. Both the Bristol and Hyde Park riots were successful as they were each followed by a reform
the next year. I believe that the main reason for the Hyde Park riots victory was the unification of the

Southern Manifesto Argument Essay
The government can not change the rules if those rules are not in place in the first place. Southern
Manifesto is a very big argument whether or whether not racial segregation was in place in school.
Although it does not state that in the constitution Southern Manifesto was a document published in
1956 and written by Richard Russell Jr., Lyndon B Johnson, and Strom Thurmond. The Southern
Manifesto was a document about the attempt to rebel and push back the Brown vs Board of Edu.
Southern Manifesto s purpose was to have racial segregation in public areas. Brown vs Board of Edu.
states that it is illegal to have racial segregation in school. The argument was very strong because the
constitution does not state anything about education. Because the constitution did not state anything
about education there was not a whole lot that government could do to stop these actions from
happening. In the case, they bring up past cases like Plessy vs Ferguson to help back up their case.
Plessy vs Ferguson, this case was about having segregation laws. The Southern Manifesto used this to
help support their case by looking into the past and looking how it was a good time for them, not
looking how it was an awful time for some other people. In a way if I were to take my bias away from
my view over this case, I could see how people were not feeling the same way ... Show more content

The Hilarious Entertainment Of Max And Uncle John Putting...
The hilarious entertainment of Max and Uncle John putting together the Doughboy swimming pool a
distant memory, they now felt like they were the envy of the neighborhood to get such a luxury item.
Not being tall enough to touch the bottom of the pool, Sam, Susan, and Beth each had to wear a bright
orange life jacket which kept them afloat, but prevented them from learning how to swim before going
on the family vacation to Camp Livingstone. The fact that Susan did not know how to swim would be
the prelude to one of the most embarrassing and traumatizing events in her life.
~
Now that is music to my ears, embarrassing and traumatizing.
~
Camp Livingstone, an amazing family campground, was packed with fun filled activities from sunup
till sundown. There was something for everyone: swimming, canoeing, water bicycles, arts and crafts,
and nightly canteen parties for the teenagers. One of the family rules while vacationing at Camp
Livingstone was to be paired off in groups of two or more at all times. No one was ever allowed to
wander off alone.
On the first day of their weeklong stay, Millie and Susan were paired off. They walked from their tent
to the lake, about the distance of two football fields. The event s coordinator announced a swimming
contest would begin on the shoreline and end at the square platform 100 yards away.
Millie pressured Susan, Come on, Sue. Let s do the race.
Millie, I m not a good swimmer. I ve only gone without a life jacket a couple of times.

A New Great Depression Essay
In 2008, the Global Financial Crisis broke out; both the American economy and the economy in the
West suffered a hard blow. However, a big economy system in the East emerged unexpectedly. China
is now able to challenge the America s decades long dominant position in economic area. Started
during the middle of 1990s, China s manufacturing industry developed rapidly that billions of exports
were floating out, and China was given the title of the world s factory (BBC). By the end of 2010,
China with a GDP of $5.8 trillion, surpassed Japan s GDP of $5.48 trillion, became the world s second

Before became as a President, in 1967, Nixon had written in a magazine as a President candidate We
simply cannot afford to leave China outside the family of nations (PBS). The reason Nixon paid so
much attention on China was that he foresaw the US, the USSR, China, Western Europe, and Japan
would become the major world powers. Being the world s most populous country, China s great
potential attracted Nixon to rebuild the connection between the East and the West. The growing
friction between Beijing and Moscow in the beginning of the 1960s urged the USSR withdrew all
their technical supports and industrial projects in China. Nixon saw his chance. He first began to woo
China in February 1969; he sent lots of positive messages towards China through third party countries

responded. Nixon successfully warmed up the relationship between China and America by sending a
team of Ping Pong players to China to play. This famous political move in US China history is called
Ping Pong diplomacy (PBS). Same year, Nixon sent Kissinger, his National Security Council director,

The Role Of Men In The Odyssey
There are no Gods, no kings, only men. Gods do not have power over men because men have free will
and can choose to defy the deity. Men have been known to manipulate the beliefs in God for their own
benefit. By the definition of a God, the God should have complete control over everything, but men
are able to make their own choices and even have to potential to make the Gods mad. Men having
freewill directly contradicts the idea that Gods have complete control over everything. Men even bend
and twist the words of said Gods into their own rhetoric in which they create the illusion of a God and
it s power. In creating their own God, men can intimidate the populous and pretend their deity is all
mighty, such as Scientology does with Lord Xenu, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Activities like blasphemy, robbery, murder and mutilation still occur and there is nothing anyone can
do about it. Such as in the Odyssey when Odysseus blinds the Cyclops, the son of Poseidon. Poseidon
is powerless and can do nothing to help his son, even though his legends claim that he is omnipotent.
In today s world, there is massive shootings and bombings; every time it happens people are told to
pray. Pray for the ones who lost their love ones in such a dangerous attack, pray for the country so
they may be able to recuperate, but if praying really did work these kinds of activities would seize to
happen, this goes to show that Gods have no power over the events of men, and if they do, they don t
care to use it. Praying to a supposed deity is the worst thing a man could do, doing nothing is one
thing, but talking to an all powerful God and asking them for help is not only psychotic, but offensive
to the suffers. If a person really wants to help, sitting on their ass and talking to the air won t help
anyone, if they really want to help, they ll donate money, go to said country and help take care of the
injured, or even donate blood and organs, but speaking to someone who obviously isn t listening is a
lost cause. If Gods really wanted men to believe in them, they d somehow demonstrate their power,

The Importance Of Italy In The Aeneid
Virgil makes it clear throughout the Aeneid that Italy is a crucial location for Aeneas to visit on his
Odyssean like adventure through omens, prophesy and discussions with the Gods. As the Aeneid was
written to honour Augustus, any reader of it would know that Italy is in fact the future site of Rome
and therefore Virgil must show its importance to Aeneas and his future descendants. Previous to Book
7, the land of Italy, or Latium, is referred to many times by many different characters of the Aeneid yet
it is in this Book that Aeneas finally sights and lands at it. Virgil s description of this land with a great
forest and the river Tiber in all its beauty with all manner of birds flying about it shows Latium to be a
beautiful place, full of life. By describing it in such a way Virgil begins to show its importance; it is

This shows how important the land of Italy is to the Trojans as the founder of their previous home was
originally from there and also gives them a strong right to return. Later in the Aeneid when the Trojans

not seen as him invading but almost a return home. Virgil attaches importance to the future site of
Rome with his lengthy description of the great warriors who once lived and fought there. In Book 7,
after Juno has sent the fury Allecto to create madness in Amata and Turnus, the men of Hesperia begin
preparing for war. They are described as the son of heroes and gods, whom neither fire nor steel might

When teachers classroom assessments become an integral part of the instructional process and a
central tenet in their efforts to help students learn, the benefits of assessment for both students and
teachers will be boundless. The purpose of these assessments is to ascertain the student s levels of
understanding and see if there is any room for improvement and whether there are any weaknesses so
as to be able to correct them. My focus is to improve my assessments to make them motivating and to
enhance student learning.
Assessment challenges that have been identified are as follows: Figuring out what really is important
for students to know and be able to do in history.
Teaching the skills of doing history in a world of testing that often seems to value only factual
knowledge.
Identifying and using assessments that provide teachers with better information than only multiple
choice exams.
Getting students motivated to do a good job on essays and other written work.
Helping students learn to improve their own work and produce quality products.
Holding students accountable for quality work, as opposed to them just turning in something.
The assessments have to be conducted and recorded in accordance with internal and external
processes and requirements. I use these assessments to evaluate my practice and to identify any
opportunities for improvement.

Finally, he just leaves, but with him travels Conway, for he was fond of his friend, and his friend also

Hilton s novel leaves the reader with an unsolved mystery since the mystical powers of the slowing of

Within the three great religions it is generally recognized that the Hebrew patriarch Abraham, through
his recognition of one God, initiated the primary and pivotal acceptance of the necessity of
monotheism. This embrace of the reality of the existence of the one, supreme, and infinite God was
called Kiddush Hashem , or sanctifying the name of God by the Hebrews (Aish). Reflections of the
Kiddush Hashem can be found in the three primary prayers of the monotheistic religions: The Islamic

Adonai Eloheinu Adonai Echad... (Hear Israel! The Lord our God, the Lord is One); The Catholic

we can see foreshadowed the current strife and often deadlocked political state of Israel. The Christian

Importance Of Self Love And Body Positivity
Self love and body positivity, are the two subjects I have struggled with since last year. Self love is
when you have a positive view of yourself and are confident in yourself. And body positivity is
forgiving and affirming towards your body. There was a time when I used to not care what I looked
like. I wouldn t care if I had a noticeable blemish my face, had rolls of flesh showing, or ate an entire
batch of cookies by myself. But somehow, one day everything changed.
For the longest time I wasn t proud of how I looked. The fact that I have glasses and have loads of
acne around my face, wasn t helping. I remember looking at the girls at school and wondering how
they have smooth skin, and why they are so beautiful. You have no idea how countless times I typed
How to clear acne in the google search bar. And even spent time daydreaming how I would be treated
differently if I obtain contacts and be beautiful. My friends would say I was lovely appealing gorgeous
etc. I never believed I was any of those words. Thinking of changing my appearance so I can be
accepted by others was something I sadly thought was true. I feel embarrassed that I even had that
mindset. Now. I feel positive about my appearance. I realized having acne is part of being a teen, and I
have now accepted that wearing glasses add character and it s different.
On the top of that, I was never satisfied with my body image. I would stand in front of the mirror and
judge every aspect of my body, specifically my stomach. I want to be skinny, I want ABS, I want my
collar bones to be noticeable. I would weigh myself all the time. I hate to admit it, but I have a fear of
being overweight like the people in My 600 Pound Life. In addition seeing models like Gigi Hadid
and Kendall Jenner, I couldn t help but feel envious of how perfect their bodies are. And hearing girls
at school say they weigh 122 or 107 pounds, while I m over here weighing more than that. Also, I
would feel self conscious when changing into my PE clothes in the girls locker room. That I would
head into the bathroom stall to dress up in there considering I didn t want my classmates to examine
my body. I still struggle to form my body the best it can be.

The Diagnosis and Treatment of Bipolar Disorder Versus...
The Diagnosis and Treatment of Bipolar Disorder Versus Unipolar Depression
Bipolar disorder is a serious mental disorder, but unfortunately our collective knowledge of this
mental illness is not extensive. Unlike depression, where patients are strictly sullen and deeply blue,
the bipolar patient experiences that same depression only flanked by extreme highs a hyperactivity
and increase in serotonin. It is this inconsistency in mood a clinical mood swinging, that makes
bipolar disorder so difficult to diagnose. Difficulty, as will be discussed in the paper, comes from
patients inability to recognize these highs as potentially troublesome, and instead opt to focus only on
the depressed moods that follow. Conventional thought, after all, ... Show more content on

Viewing the serotonin (as well as other neurotransmitters directly responsible for mood such as
endorphins, and dopamine) levels of a bipolar patient will often resemble a sine curve with consistent
crests and troughs, and an episode refers to one crest or trough on the curve. Bipolar I disorder is
similar to bipolar II, but patients typically alternate between mania and depression, rather than
elevated mood (hypomania) of bipolar II. The bipolar patient typically suffers multiple episodes over
the course of a year, each usually lasting three to six months (Kessler 1994). If more than four
episodes occur within a 12 month period, the patient is said to be in rapid cycling (Coryell 2003).
The manic, episodic nature of bipolar disorder has made difficult for primary care doctors to diagnose
and understand. A 2000 study validates this point 69% of respondents with bipolar disorder were
considered previously misdiagnosed (Hirschfield 2003). The study would go on to reveal that average
bipolar patient receives on average, three and half wrong diagnoses before being correctly identified
as bipolar. While as humans we tend to be cognizant of when we are depressed and understand that it
is good to go to clinician for this, we are less aware that

Williamson Pricing Strategy
A good pricing strategy has several characteristics. First, it must be attractive to sell as many tickets as
possible. The price must be affordable to the visitors. If the ticket is priced too high, fans will likely
stay home and simply watch the game on television. Tickets must be priced reasonably, so as to attract
the fans to purchase them to attend the event in person. Tickets must also be priced to reflect the
popularity of the sport. If you set the price of the tickets too low for a popular event, you will likely
miss an opportunity to generate revenue. If you set the price high for a scarcely popular event, you
will not generate enough ticket sales, leading to empty seats and a poor attendance showing for an
event. A good pricing strategy will balance several components of the sport. It will balance popularity,
fan base, interest, and ability to market. Williamson should consider these factors as they determine

However, as previously discussed, ticket sales revenue is not the only goal of the stakeholders. While,
the LOCOG is mainly focused on ticket sales and revenue, they should implement a solid marketing
campaign that focuses on selling the tickets to fans loyal to the particular sport. However, they should
also market sports like table tennis to fans as a way of introducing a new sport. Using this strategy,

  • 2. Figurative Language In Jeanne Duprau s The City Of Ember In Jeanne DuPrau s book The City of Ember it takes place in a very dark city without power or electricity and nobody s happy. And when two kids are presented with the opportunity to help save their city and risk their lives, they are the ones who want to do so. They go on this journey and hit many obstacles on the way but they have the mindset to never give up and it may or may not help them. One theme that can be supported throughout the book is that when someone risks their life for others they can earn great respect from other people and other peers. The theme in the story The City of Ember is shown early on in the book and it is represented by using author s craft. The author s craft that is being used in the book is figurative language, such as similes and metaphors. She uses figurative language in many different ways that can support the theme. For example Fear had settled over the city. Lina felt it like a cold chill (Duprau 85). This is a good example of figurative language and it also supports the theme. This is a good example, because it is describing how bad the city is and also how Lina realized she needed to take charge in saving the city. Duprau also uses another good example of figurative language towards the beginning also. For instance it states in the book Once they are out the door, Lizzie said goodbye and scurried away as if Linas bad luck were a disease that she might catch (Duprau 58). This is a good representation because it is leading up to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Essay on Tanglewood Case Study Staffing Strategies In reviewing Tanglewood case study 1, we evaluate all aspects of the company in order to determine which strategic staffing decision would potentially be suitable for meeting the organizations goals and staffing requirements. They re 13 different staffing strategies which are distributed into two categories. Each one of the strategies is designed in a format of this one verses that one concept, making it so one would decide which would be best suited for the company. The two strategic staffing decision categories are staffing levels and the other is staffing quality. Staffing levels consist of : Acquire or develop talent, Hire yourself or outsource, external or internal hiring, core or flexible workforce, hire or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When hiring quickly it will limit the area, a person can go into by only having a need positions. This can create the fact of someone being over qualified for a position but having to put them in that position due to not enough positions available that the individual is qualified for. It would be best for Tanglewood to focus more on acquiring talent internal vs. externally because most of the people they hire would be the type to be looking for career progression for a long term career and they would not have as much of a need to hire a large amount of workers at one time or the need to create new specific entry level types of jobs. A core or flexible workforce is both needed for Tanglewood because of the size of the company. A core workforce to maintain the integrity of the store year round and knowing the company s values and mission to help keep it running smooth. A flexible workforce is great to cover down during the seasonal time of shopping. This will help have associates available to work at all different hour s verses only available at this time. It is important for a company to have flexible core workers as well to help cover down when and where needed to maintain the customer satisfaction that its customers would need. Deciding to hire or retain employees can be challenging for Tanglewood because the need to get the right people in the right job in order to maintain the right types of people the ... Nicotine Receptors For over a long period of time nicotine contained in tobacco has been documented as substances that develops health problems in the body if used, continuous research on this alkaloid have shown that the substance have certain beneficial effects of the body. What made it a potential drug target is following the identification of a family of genes coding for neuronal nicotinic acetylcholine receptors also known as (nAChRs) and more knowledge of their expression and function in the brain central nervous system (Suto Zacharias, 2005). nAChRs are receptor proteins that can respond to neurotransmitter acetylcholine and drugs in the body. In human beings they are located in the brain central nervous system and they play a significant role in peripheral ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When nAChRs are activated, they enhance the release of many neurotransmitters that are involved in focus, attention and executive memory. It is also believed that the substance has a direct role in information storage in the brain through modulation of glutamatergic neurotransmission (Lloyd Williams, 2000). Studies have shown that it can be used in treatment Neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer s and Parkinson s diseases. This has been shown by a situation in which smokers who survive the negative effects of smoking have a low incidence of being attacked by neurodegenerative diseases (Lloyd Williams, 2000). It has been proven that acute administration of α4β2 selective agonist or nicotine on a person suffering from Alzheimer diseases improves recall behavior. There are findings from the biological psychiatry that many unmedicated depressed patients exhibit hypothalamic pituitary axis (HPA) hyperactivity (Shytle et al., 2002). So far the available evidence have shown that nAChR have played a significant role in mediating stress related and more likely depression inducing neuroendocrine effects of Ach (Shytle et al., 2002). An example is that in rat experiment, it has been proven that nAChR antagonist block the physostigmine induced rise in plasma corticosterone levels of rats, furthermore, ACh induced CRF release from the brain hypothalamus is repressed by nAChR ... • 5. Research Paper On Airbus A380 The biggest commercial aircraft on the market right now is the Airbus A380. This amazing feat of engineering is so spectacular that it is the biggest that a commercial aircraft can be! The airbus A380 can be described in many different ways, most people call it spectacular or even just flat out amazing that something this big can even get off the ground. While the industry continues to make improvements to flight, they are also keeping the costs down, so that anyone flying can experience flying in an Airbus, especially if they are traveling abroad. Many would say that the idea of building the Airbus was thought of by a French transport minister named Jean Chamant and a German economics minister, named Karl Schiller in 1969, but in all actuality, the idea was originated in in 1967 by ministers in France, Germany and Britain. They all agreed for the purpose of strengthening European co operation in the field of aviation technology and thereby promoting economic and technological progress in Europe, to take appropriate measures for the joint development and production of an airbus (Early Days, 1967 1969). They knew that if they did not come up with a new concept for air flight, that the Americans would always be the leaders in the aircraft industry. They knew it would take the effort of not just one country, but many that had built different aspects of planes, and were well known for that contribution. France was to supply the cockpit, the control systems, and the lower ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Pragmatism In James Joyce s Araby Question #1 The first three paragraphs of the tale focus largely on the setting because these setting symbolize the key concept of the story. Settings strengthen the theme and the characters by using the metaphors of darkness and light. The experiences of the boy in this story portrays how people often expect more than the real world can provide and then feel they disappointed and disillusioned. The author refers to the obscure and dark images to make the reality of boy living in the dreary town of Araby more eloquent. He uses dark and the bleak references to create the mood or atmosphere and then refers to the bright light while discussing the Mangan s sister. Bright light is referred to create a fairy tale world filled with beautiful ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He hardly meets or talks to the lady of her dreams. But he builds all his romantic fantasy around her calm and sedate image which is his backbone in an otherwise drab daily life. His feeling for her grows. Finally, he met with her dream lady and she refers to a fair called Araby. She does not really tell him to go to the place but the boy s entire desires now moved to that one specific place. He conceptualizes this place as a fantasy land filled with the innocence and purity. The rest of the tale is about the boy s rather delayed and troubled visit to that place. He then finds it as a drab market or bazaar where everything is so artificial and on sale. He finds human speech meaningless there. This bazaar seems charmless to the boy and he became severely disappointed. At the end of the story, when the boy was standing all alone in the dark places, sees himself in the mockery of all his stupidity. It is a deeply disturbing and yet a learning moment for the boy. It is a slice of experience that will make a man out of the boy and perhaps a state of the transition for the boy from the dream world to the real ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Indentured Servants And African Slaves As a student of United States history, I have learned new information concerning certain subject matters. My prior knowledge of US history about these certain topics, such as, indentured servants and the institution of slavery was minimal. The reason for this is most of my prior knowledge of these important topics were forgotten. The question I always asked myself what was the difference between indentured servants and African slaves? Through my personal studying on the subject matter, I have discovered new information that clarified all my misconceptions about historical topics like, indentured servants from Europe, African slavery, and finding the similarities and differences of these two types of labor. During the 1600s Europe was absorbed in the Thirty Year s War, which depressed the economy at the time. Many young males skilled and unskilled were looking for work. These young men had hoped that there might be some prosperity in the New World. These young teenage men were eager for a grand opportunity in Virginia. However, these new young immigrants coming over to the American colonies would be considered as indentured servants. In the textbook, American Stories A History of the United States mentions that, In exchange for transportation across the Atlantic, they agreed to serve the master for a stated number of years (Brands et al. 37). These young male indentured servants were in their early twenties. Skilled indentured servants often work for four or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Critique And Analysis Of Harry Cleaver Critique and Analysis of Harry Cleaver, Close the IMF, abolish debt and end development: class analysis of the international debt crisis, Capital Class (1990), Pp. 17 50. Jude M. Mangilog BA Political Science History III Political Science 180 University of the Philippines Visayas December 2014 Cleaver offers a shift of analysis of the international debt crisis by examining it through class terms. International debt crisis was seen as the inability/failure of capital to control working class power. Cleaver explains this by analyzing the origins/genesis of debt, locates the continuation of the crisis as the failure of capital to deal with working class power, and on why working class should focus on the struggle for the illegitimization ... These ISAs represses working class mobilization not through violence but through ideology. • 9. Taking a Look at the Great Recession Many economists have come to consider the 2008 financial crisis as the worst recession since the 1930 s Great Depression. The recession led to the total collapse of financial institutions, the withdrawal of banks by the national governments and the total collapse of stock markets across the world. The housing market also suffered in many areas, which resulted in prolonged unemployment, evictions and foreclosures. The crisis played a key role in the failure of significant businesses, the decline in the wealth of consumers, estimated in trillions of American dollars, a downturn in economic activities and the debt crisis of the European countries. On 9 August 2007, the Banque National de Paris (BNP), a French bank and financial company whose global headquarters are located in London, stopped withdrawals from three hedge funds citing a total evaporation of liquidity. This marked the beginning of the active phase of the crisis. In 2007, the bursting of the housing bubble of the U.S was at its peak. The bursting resulted in plummeting of security values tied to the U.S. real estate pricing. The complex interplay of policies that provided easier lending of loans, overpricing of sub prime mortgages, on a theoretical basis that the prices would continue to increase, and inadequate capital holdings from insurance companies and banks to back their financial commitments contributed to the bursting of the bubble (Boatright, 2010). During 2008, securities suffered huge losses due to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Strategies For Independence 5 Big Steps Parents Can Take To Help Their Kids Gain More Independence For Preschool From social skills to language skills and all kinds of problem solving techniques, your little one is in for some big learning when they enter a preschool program, but they could face challenges if the haven t acquired enough independence. Although it s your paternal instinct to take care of and control everything in their developing lives, independence is what s going to help them succeed and excel, once they re on their own in the classroom. Here are five important steps you can take to encourage more independence, in the most caring and supportive way: 1. As hard as it is to just stand by and watch your child, whether they re succeeding or not, they need that space to learn, evolve and experiment, or else they re always going to be looking for you to rescue them. Entering any preschool program, your child won t have the luxury of constant individual attention, meaning they will have no choice but to sink or swim. Since you want them to swim, start giving them room to self resolve issues now, while they still have you as a safety net. Before long, they ll understand that if they want some problems solved, they have to put on their thinking caps, use patience and take matters into their own little hands. If it seems hard for you to cease the hoovering, just wait until you feel the total exhilaration of watching your child accomplish something all on their own; it s such a breath taking moment for parents, you ll automatically start giving them more room to act independently in many instances. 3. Assign A Simple Job To Your Child You don t realize how much your child depends on you for everything, until you ask them to do something on their own. They might look at you as if you re perfectly out of your mind or they might even cry about the new task, but being a responsible, working member of a team in your house is going to go a long way toward helping your child succeed in a busy classroom. • 11. AP-Suffrage In England Describe the steps taken between 1832 and 1918 to extend the suffrage in England. What group and movements contributed to the extension of the vote? Several groups, movements and reform bills passed between 1832 and 1918 extended the suffrage in England. The process took many years and the voting rights were first given to the wealthier and more distinguished men, then later to the less wealthy men, and finally to women. The major reform bills that extended the suffrage in England were the Reform Bill of 1832, 1867, and 1884, and the Qualification of Women Act in 1917. (Mazour, Peoples) The suffrage movement began in 1832 when the Reform Bill of 1832 was passed by parliment. The Prime Minister since 1830, Earl Grey, authored the Bill and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another problem with the voting system was the lack of a private vote. Employers could influence the way their employees voted by threatening to punish them if they failed to vote for their preffered candidate. This problem was fixed in 1872, when William Gladstone s government passed the Ballot Act which guaranteed a secret system of voting. Although the immediate results of the reform act were not earth shattering, the country had taken, as Lord Derby said, a leap in the dark. Strikes, union advances, and labor organization were powerful forces for change in the final years of the century. William Gladstone was elected as Prime Minister of England for the second time in 1880 and the most important legislative action that took place during his second ministry was the Reform Act of 1884. The reform act was rejected the first time it was presented to the House of Lords, but accepted the second time because it was accompanied by a redistribution act, which had the following implications. (i) seventy nine towns with populations smaller than 15,000 lost their right to elect an MP; (ii) thirty six with populations between 15,000 and 50,000 lost one of their MPs and became single member constituencies; (iii) towns with populations between 50,000 and 165,000 were given two seats; (iv) larger towns and the country constituencies were divided into single member constituencies (http://www.spartacus.schoolnet.co.uk/PR1885.htm). • 12. Dopamine Plays A Role In The Development Of Schizophrenia Schizophrenia Schizophrenia is a life long disorder that affects about one percent of the population (Mueser McGurk, 2004). The cause of this mental illness is still unclear. Studies have suggested that Schizophrenia does not arise from one factor but from a combination of genetic, environmental, and social factors (Liddle, 1987). People diagnosed with Schizophrenia struggle to deal with a multitude of symptoms that make it difficult to function (Mueser McGurk, 2004). Antipsychotic medications are a popular treatment of the symptoms of Schizophrenia (Mueser McGurk, 2004). Research is constantly being done to develop these medications to enhance the quality of life of those diagnosed with Schizophrenia. Over the years, experiments have produced evidence to suggest that dopamine plays a role in the development of Schizophrenia (Howes, McCutcheon, Stone, 2015). Dopamine is a neurotransmitter that is produced in the substantia nigra and ventral tegmental regions of the brain. The belief that dopamine was involved in Schizophrenia arose after multiple studies performed with compounds produced an increase in extracellular concentrations of dopamine (Lieberman, Kane, Alvir, 1987). The patients that were administered these compounds had similar symptoms to those observed from patients who were diagnosed with Schizophrenia (Lieberman et al., 1987). The results of these earlier studies were expounded on by research that suggested increased striatal dopamine ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The concept that Africa was once rather like Europe in its many medieval kingdoms, and their upheavals and struggles to be the greatest power, is not widely considered by the general population. Ancient Africa was a place of great tales, heroes, and conquests however. The memories of these still linger even today. The storytellers of Africa are griots. They are a mysterious group, who hold the legends and history of Africa, and orally pass them down father to son through the generations. One of these great stories is the Epic of Sundiata. As this legend is so well known, and has been told so many times, it is difficult to separate fact from fiction. The Epic of Sundiata, is still however a gold mine of true knowledge if one only sorts out the myths and pyrite. Still that is not so simple a task. The epic was for the longest time an oral tradition, told by the griots to the villages and cities they lived in. The original griot of the story lived it, and although the epic has most likely been added to for dramatic effect over the centuries, the original tale must have been much closer to the truth. There is some doubt however over the legitimacy of some parts of the story. In the epic Sundiata and his main rival Soumaoro, are accomplished sorcerers (particularly Soumaoro), as well as other women magicians in the story. It is in fact very unlikely that Sundiata and Soumaoro communicated by familiars (animals that supposedly lend their sight, hearing, and speaking to the sorcerers who control them, in this case Soumaoro s owl), or that Soumaoro was invincible for their first couple battles, Nor is it probable that Sundiata s mother was possessed by an evil ... As seen in the quotes above, both say just about whatever comes to their mind, which keeps the show very humorous. Although Michael can be a bit more crude with his jokes. The Office is more negative with their humor than Parks and Recreation. A lot of the humor on The Office comes from making fun of or bringing down the other characters. This kind of a comedy makes for a funny and intriguing TV show. Also The Office has a bigger cast. Throughout the 10 seasons, the cast gets bigger. Some of the characters leave throughout the seasons and new ones will come in. Parks and Recreation is a smaller cast, and does not have as many characters that come and go through the seasons. Both of these comedies are very similar, but yet they are so different. Both The Office and Parks and Recreation are so unique in their own way, and are very good TV shows. About 0.5% convictions of crime are the innocent serving jail time in prison or death row and are not even the actual suspect of the crime scene putting other people at fault of those who have not done any harm. This even violates an individual s right of freedom as they are being wrongfully accused and imprisoned. The solutes are the minor components of the solution, and they are what get dissolved. The solvent is the major component of the solution, and it does the dissolving. Solutions are measured in terms of solubility. Solubility refers to the maximum amount of solute that will dissolve in the solvent. When the maximum amount of solute has dissolved, the solution becomes saturated. In solving the solubility, two things must be known: the mass of the solute and the mass of the solution. Different techniques can be used to determine the solubility of a solution, such as filtration through paper cloth or evaporation by heat. In this experiment, the solubility was obtained through evaporation of the solvent by heat. Potassium sulfate and sodium chloride will used in solutions to test the solubilities at room temperature and approximately 40℃. Potassium sulfate will also be used in a solution to test the uncertainty of the experiment. Prior to 1832, Britain s franchise composed of a selective elite of the landowning class, however the 1832 reform act, although a disappointment in the extent of what it achieved, paved the way for further reform as it brought people together in rebellion (the Bristol Riots). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Whether a revolution was possible is questionable amongst historians, however as Eric Evans wrote, What mattered was that enough MPs and Peers believed that it was, and acted accordingly. 2 It could also be said that unwittingly the government had evoked an atmosphere of popular pressure in Britain as everyone had seen how easily they had surrendered to the rebels demands. Despite the bill s limitations, the rioters had after all successfully achieved the first piece of legislation which was an incentive for future pressure from outside Parliament, hence quickening the process of improving representation and democracy in Britain. The Hyde Park riots of 1866 were another example of working class radicalism in protest for reform. Similarly to the Bristol Riots, the rebels were destructive by force and although there was said to be more mischief than malice , a policeman was killed. Both the Bristol and Hyde Park riots were successful as they were each followed by a reform the next year. I believe that the main reason for the Hyde Park riots victory was the unification of the National Reform Union and the Reform League, two distinctively divided (in class) bodies. This demonstrated that people of different classes and backgrounds were able to unify in common aims in ways which the political parties could not. • 33. Deforestation In Korea (U) The terrain and weather of the Democratic People s Republic of Korea (DPRK) would severely hinder operations and movement in the area. Restrictive terrain is abundant, and friendly forces would have difficulty maneuvering through the nation. The weather is dependent on the season and is subject to monsoons and typhoons. (U) The DPRK is heavily forested, meaning mechanized and armored units would struggle to maneuver into effective combat positions. As of 2003, forestry covered approximately 73% of the DPRK, with the forest canopy [being] much more dense in the north (United Nations Development Program 2003). Most of the vegetation consists of montane forest of which more than 70% is on slopes above 20° (United Nations Development Program 2003). The true percentage of forest cover is likely less than 73% as of now, as lumber is the primary fuel source of the DPRK. In addition, deforestation is occurring faster than reforestation programs are capable of combatting it. The forest cover would serve to conceal the movements of DPRK light infantry forces and ... The entirety of the peninsula suffers from cold in the winter, Yellow Dust... choking the air in the spring, monsoons in midsummer, and typhoons in autumn (Woodhouse 2011). Temperatures can range from lows of 4° F in the winter, and highs of 95° F in the summer (Climate North Korea 2018). The winter months are often dry, but the summer brings humidity. Troops will have to be ready for the varying conditions, or they may suffer injuries seen seventy years prior. During the Korean War, frostbite peaked in the months of November and December of 1950, causing many frontline units to become ineffective (Lt. Col. Orr 1951). Monsoons and typhoons are capable of tying up air and mechanized forces, limiting support and movement. • 34. Importance Of Self Love And Body Positivity Self love and body positivity, are the two subjects I have struggled with since last year. Self love is when you have a positive view of yourself and are confident in yourself. And body positivity is forgiving and affirming towards your body. There was a time when I used to not care what I looked like. I wouldn t care if I had a noticeable blemish my face, had rolls of flesh showing, or ate an entire batch of cookies by myself. But somehow, one day everything changed. For the longest time I wasn t proud of how I looked. The fact that I have glasses and have loads of acne around my face, wasn t helping. I remember looking at the girls at school and wondering how they have smooth skin, and why they are so beautiful. You have no idea how countless times I typed How to clear acne in the google search bar. And even spent time daydreaming how I would be treated differently if I obtain contacts and be beautiful. My friends would say I was lovely appealing gorgeous etc. I never believed I was any of those words. Thinking of changing my appearance so I can be accepted by others was something I sadly thought was true. I feel embarrassed that I even had that mindset. Now. I feel positive about my appearance. I realized having acne is part of being a teen, and I have now accepted that wearing glasses add character and it s different. On the top of that, I was never satisfied with my body image. I would stand in front of the mirror and judge every aspect of my body, specifically my stomach. I want to be skinny, I want ABS, I want my collar bones to be noticeable. I would weigh myself all the time. I hate to admit it, but I have a fear of being overweight like the people in My 600 Pound Life. In addition seeing models like Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner, I couldn t help but feel envious of how perfect their bodies are. And hearing girls at school say they weigh 122 or 107 pounds, while I m over here weighing more than that. Also, I would feel self conscious when changing into my PE clothes in the girls locker room. That I would head into the bathroom stall to dress up in there considering I didn t want my classmates to examine my body. I still struggle to form my body the best it can be. Food was the main ... • 35. The Diagnosis and Treatment of Bipolar Disorder Versus... The Diagnosis and Treatment of Bipolar Disorder Versus Unipolar Depression Bipolar disorder is a serious mental disorder, but unfortunately our collective knowledge of this mental illness is not extensive. Unlike depression, where patients are strictly sullen and deeply blue, the bipolar patient experiences that same depression only flanked by extreme highs a hyperactivity and increase in serotonin. It is this inconsistency in mood a clinical mood swinging, that makes bipolar disorder so difficult to diagnose. Difficulty, as will be discussed in the paper, comes from patients inability to recognize these highs as potentially troublesome, and instead opt to focus only on the depressed moods that follow. Conventional thought, after all, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Viewing the serotonin (as well as other neurotransmitters directly responsible for mood such as endorphins, and dopamine) levels of a bipolar patient will often resemble a sine curve with consistent crests and troughs, and an episode refers to one crest or trough on the curve. Bipolar I disorder is similar to bipolar II, but patients typically alternate between mania and depression, rather than elevated mood (hypomania) of bipolar II. The bipolar patient typically suffers multiple episodes over the course of a year, each usually lasting three to six months (Kessler 1994). If more than four episodes occur within a 12 month period, the patient is said to be in rapid cycling (Coryell 2003). The manic, episodic nature of bipolar disorder has made difficult for primary care doctors to diagnose and understand. A 2000 study validates this point 69% of respondents with bipolar disorder were considered previously misdiagnosed (Hirschfield 2003). The study would go on to reveal that average bipolar patient receives on average, three and half wrong diagnoses before being correctly identified as bipolar. While as humans we tend to be cognizant of when we are depressed and understand that it is good to go to clinician for this, we are less aware that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Williamson Pricing Strategy A good pricing strategy has several characteristics. First, it must be attractive to sell as many tickets as possible. The price must be affordable to the visitors. If the ticket is priced too high, fans will likely stay home and simply watch the game on television. Tickets must be priced reasonably, so as to attract the fans to purchase them to attend the event in person. Tickets must also be priced to reflect the popularity of the sport. If you set the price of the tickets too low for a popular event, you will likely miss an opportunity to generate revenue. If you set the price high for a scarcely popular event, you will not generate enough ticket sales, leading to empty seats and a poor attendance showing for an event. A good pricing strategy will balance several components of the sport. It will balance popularity, fan base, interest, and ability to market. Williamson should consider these factors as they determine the pricing strategy for the 2012 Olympic Games. Using the economic pricing strategies allows more fans to purchase the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Williamson could follow the approach as outlined in Exhibit 9 of the case which uses pricing tiers to the approach to setting the prices for the various sporting events. This would allow him to price popular sports and less popular sports at the optimal price to achieve the ticket sales revenue. However, as previously discussed, ticket sales revenue is not the only goal of the stakeholders. While, the LOCOG is mainly focused on ticket sales and revenue, they should implement a solid marketing campaign that focuses on selling the tickets to fans loyal to the particular sport. However, they should also market sports like table tennis to fans as a way of introducing a new sport. Using this strategy, Williamson and the LOCOG are likely to generate brisk ticket sales, and more importantly sell tickets to those individuals who are likely to attend and fill the seats at the London Olympic ...
