Guns and Violence Essay
Guns and violence have some long lasting effects on not only the crime rate, but the rights that people
have to own guns themselves. Even though the violence is a factor in why many believe that guns
should be banned, guns should be allowed and not banned because they should be allowed because of
the laws and the rights of citizens allow them there rights. The ethics and laws that occur with the
current and enduring debates are another meaningful point. As Supreme Court Cases rage on about
how a cities ban on handguns could break amendments, this is how the topic has gained from it (Hoxie
474). As crime statistics begin to rise there are many reasons that they need to work on the juvenile
justice system (Collier 478). The other topic of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many believe that if guns are made illegal that there will be more violence due to how they receive the
weapon most likely illegally. As there are many kids that have obtained guns without their parents
even notice, they can bring tragedy to their schools, as kids are likely to open fire on other kids if they
would obtain a gun. It would not be the first time a child would have done this, as it happened in
Paducah, Kentucky as three children were killed in the lobby by a fourteen year old. He was charged
as a juvenile, as he was just a child (Collier 477). There are many statistics that prove to be a major
factor on why the juvenile system will most likely be revamped. Most states have a way of sending
children to a juvenile court, where they can only be found delinquent and placed in a facility. This has
been the normal way of taking care of it for quite a long time and many believe that this law or rule
needs to be changed. Crimes are linked to guns and the violence they bring in many ways. They can
corrupt adults and even their kids. As a child everything seems different, and the violence they see on
TV, video games, music, or any other media including their parents themselves could have drastic
measures on how they act. As some kids have done things wrong only by mistake and some have done
them knowing what they were doing. One boy killed his teacher on the last day of school, and he was

Compare And Contrast The Santa Ana And Brush Fire
Different Things
People can look at the same situations and see different things. In Brush Fire by Linda Thomas and
The Santa Ana by Joan Didion, both writers are writing about the same situation however, the texts are
both vastly different. Both essays are written about the Santa Ana winds, which is a wind that blows
through both southern and northern California. The message of Brush Fire by Linda Thomas is that
the Santa Ana winds are more of an event that happens yearly that causes many great effects on the
earth that outway the bad. Nevertheless, in The Santa Ana by Joan Didion the message is that the
Santa Ana is a horrid occurrence that happens each year that only brings a string of negative effects
with it. The writers take a completely different approach, trying to describe the subject. The author s
writing style divert from each other through the use of style elements, rhetorical and literary devices,
as well as rhetorical appeals.
The Santa Ana and Brush Fire have several similarities and differences in style elements. The Santa
Ana and Brush Fire differ in the use of syntax. In The Santa Ana, Didion uses more complex syntax
with longer sentences and the text overall is longer. Dissimilar from Brush Fire, in which Thomas uses
a simpler syntax that has much shorter and concise sentences. The Santa Ana also uses antithesis
repeatedly, which establishes a juxtaposition, this shows the good and bad of the situation. Thomas s
sentences are shorter and more fact based which gets more to the point faster and shorter. However,
Didion s sentences are longer and more opinion and has a more personal feel than, Brush Fire. The
diction in The Santa Ana and Brush Fire differ vastly. Thomas uses a more dark diction uses words
like words like murder, suicide, and depression. Unlike, Didion who has a more reflective diction and
uses words like return , will be , new , and cancels out . Both The Santa Ana and Brush Fire use a
heavy use of imagery. In The Santa Ana Didion not only describes the Santa Ana winds, but also
describes other winds that are similar. Didion compares the winds to show the negative effects that
both winds have on the people. An example of this is The Santa Ana,which is named for one

Suresh V Canada Case Summary
Everyone has the right to seek and to enjoy in other countries asylum from persecution.
Through out the world and over the centuries, societies have welcomed frightened, weary strangers,
the victims of persecution and violence. This humanitarian tradition of offering sanctuary is often now
played on the television screens across the globe as war and large scale persecution produce millions
of refugees and internally displaced persons. At the start of 21st century, protecting refugees means
maintaining solidarity with the worlds most threatened, while finding answers tot eh challenges
confronting the international system that was created to do just that.

In the famous case of Suresh v Canada, Suresh was a Sri Lankan born Tamil. He first came to Canada
in the year 1990 and made a refugee claim based on fear of persecution by the Sri Lankan
government. He was also the supporter of the Tamil tigers (a listed terrorist organization) and had
done some fundraising for them in the past. Minister of immigration filed a certificate under s.40.1 of
the immigration act saying that Suresh was inadmissible to Canada on security grounds. Suresh was
confined the next day. The certificate was mentioned to the Federal Court for determination of
whether it was rational, and the court approve the Ministers decision. He was given a deportation
hearing, and the board held that while Suresh was not straightforward involved in terrorism, his
membership in a terrorist group was adequate grounds for extradition. Under s. 53(1)(b), the Minister
gave notice to Suresh that she was considering issuing an judgement that she well thought out him to
be a danger to the safety of Canada, which would permit the Minister to extradite him despite the risk
of torture. Accordingly, Suresh submitted composed and narrative proof on this theme. A migration
officer, Gautier, considered Suresh s entries, and found that permitting Suresh to stay in Canada would
run counter to Canada s duties to battle against

This particular paper, covering the issues of justice and ownership in returning artwork from the
Holocaust, makes a clear statement when it states As noted during parliamentary debates on the UK
Holocaust (Return of Cultural Objects) Act 2009, restitution affords some justice,4 legally or
financially drawing one line under the Nazi era.5 Since fourth century BC Athens, restitution has been
key to the legitimacy of successor societies. They undertake responsibility for past wrongs,6
(re)assume a place in the international community,7 and deftly side step collective guilt (O Donnell).
The article combines a historical and legal view in explaining why certain measures must be taken to
provide a consistent justice to the victims of the Holocaust by returning the looted art. The article also
takes time to explain why the recovery of Holocaust art became such a significant issue years after
World War II, citing causes like the fiftieth anniversary of the Holocaust and improved methods of
research and recovery (O Donnell). O Donnell provides a clear view of why art should be returned to
their original owners, the main theme being that art acts as a symbol for reconciliation and justice for
victims of the massive genocide of the Holocaust. This gives the recovery of Holocaust art a
symbolism and significance that associates with the topics of

The Four Evangelists
Out of the four Evangelists, I find Mark to be the most intriguing. Not because he had the first gospel
to be composed, but his drive and affection for Jesus. I will be discussing the play Everyman and how
Mark s purpose to encourage a group undergoing difficult trials and persecutions correlates with the
play both philosophically and aesthetically. Everyman summarizes that every person will be asked
about their sins and good deeds. Mark on the other hand (also Matthew), both say the same thing
about Jesus when he s resurrected. My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? (Just). This shows
that Mark was very big on salvation. He wanted people who committed sins in his community to be
rectified by Christ. This is why he says those seven ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His first words correlates yet contradicts in what Everyman says because it s like a moral allegory
(Fiero, pg. 3). Everyman basically wants all Christian souls to be petrified of resurrection, but they
want them to repent while Mark looks at it in a much more optimistic way. He not only wants them to
repent, but wants them to be ready for the return of Christ. Persevere in faith despite suffering; follow
Jesus on the way to the cross; be ready for his return (Just). Although Mark showed lots of love and
devotion towards Christ, he s the only evangelist to describe his agony and tragic death. He viewed
Jesus as Gods persecuted one because of him dying and feeling abandoned (PBS). The lion with wings
symbolizes the Evangelical Mark. This not only shows his bravery, but why he would fit inevitably in
Everyman. It s only for strong Christian believers like Mark, but, of course, there are many more
strong believers. Throughout Everyman you see the Christians repeat the same thing which is
repenting to God for their sins. Mark although who encourages people to repent doesn t say it as often,
but often mentions people committing good sins. They re very similar it s just that Everyman believes
more in repenting to God and Mark believes more into doing good deeds for

Cyrus Clinder Thesis
Core Concept Essay One The Cyrus Cylinder, the Mandate of Heaven and the Ashurbanipal document
are ancient texts written by or on behalf of leaders of civilizations who came to power through
different means. These civilizations shared similar aspects, although differing in some ways.
Differences in the style of leadership highlight important cultural variations, which likely contributed
to either the success or failure of each empire. The Cyrus Cylinder talks mainly about how Cyrus
conquers the old city of Babylon (Cyrus). This document varies from the others because it talks about
how Marduk utilized evil and how he tormented the people. He eventually learned how to lessen his
anger, and decided to create peace. He decided to do this by finding a new king, Cyrus, to create a
more stable civilization. It was likely written to demonstrate the effectiveness of Cyrus style of ruling
as well as to establish what the basic human rights are (or should be). Also, it showed that putting
Cyrus in charge allowed the people to become full of life again. This shows that Cyrus wanted to
please others. As well as the fact that many other kings from different civilizations came to worship
Cyrus. Happily, they greeted him as a master through whose help ... Show more content on

Satire and Stereotyping in the Birth of a Nation and...
Spike Lee s film Bamboozled (2000), cinematically stages American mass entertainment s history of
discrimination with humiliating minstrel stereotypes which was first brought to film in 1915 by D.W.
Griffith s The Birth of a Nation. ‘Blackface minstrelsy is a disturbing legacy that began as a tradition
in the early 1800s on stage, with white actors using burnt corks to darken their skin and allowing them
to portray African American slaves, usually as lazy, child like providers of comic relief (4). This
eventually evolved into Vaudeville style parody shows consisting of songs, dances and comic skits.
This tradition represented an accepted way of looking at African Americans and was the first form of
American mass culture that created ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example the audience may believe that the masked Ku Klux Klan riders were white behind their
masks and have in reality may have tried to forget that many of the fleeing African Americans were
actually white actors.
American whiteness as articulated by Birth of a Nation is built on stereotypes, and this is precisely
why minstrelsy might have the power to resist racism. Minstrel performances relied on stereotypes to
evoke their opposites. It is possible to assume that the discourse of mass entertainment from its
minstrel days to current film and possibly beyond, recognizing and accepting blackface conventions
and stereotypes were key, almost necessary conditions of American whiteness. Minstrelsy took the
productive ambivalence inherent to the stereotype and magnified it to increase the stereotype s
inevitable undoing of itself (4). But in Birth of a Nation, the determining concept of the stereotype that
makes sense is disrupted by the inevitable context provided by narrative: in the film s narrative,
African Americans are seen gently working and playing for their master s benefit prior to the Civil
War. This stereotypical representation draws on myths that blackface minstrelsy seemed to ally to the
politics of white supremacy; it worked to promote propaganda. Prior to the Civil War, the film
explains African Americans were docile and happy on the plantation because of slave laws imposed by

Baroque, The Era Of Baroque Art And The Baroque Period
Baroque is a style in art. It is an era of artistic style that used sensational motion and obvious, easily
interpreted features to produce drama, tension, and magnificence in architecture, sculptures, paintings,
literature, theatre, dance and music. Baroque art is usually very frisky and has several ornaments.
It was between the styles of Renaissance and Neoclassicism. This means it began at the begging of the
16th century (around 1600), at that time, there were absolutist monarchs in Europe. The movement
started in Italy. It then spread to the Catholic countries in Europe. Eventually it also spread to the
Protestant ones.
The success and popularity of the Baroque style was backed up by the Catholic Church. The Catholic
Church expressed that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Late Baroque, c. 1660 1725 or later
The development of Baroque
The Baroque arose around 1600, a few decades after the Council of Trent, by which the Roman
Catholic Church was agreed that the representational arts, by that paintings and sculptures in church
contexts was healthy because it speaks to the illiterate rather than to the well informed. Many art
experts see this turn toward a popular concept of the function of churchly art as motivating the
innovations of the brothers Annibale and Agostino Carracci and of Caravaggio, all of whom were
working in Rome and rival for commissions.
The word Baroque comes from the Portuguese word barocco which means something like unusual . In
Portuguese, it was first used for irregularly shaped pearls, but then it was first used in France to mean
works of art that did not follow the current trend.
Sculptures
Some representatives assumed new importance in Baroque sculptures and there was actually a positive
movement and energy of human forms. For the first time, Baroque sculpture usually had many ideal
viewing angles so, that from wherever you stand you would see amazing scenery. The features
Baroque sculpture added additional sculptural components, for example, water fountains or concealed

The Theorist That I Chose To Write About Is Jean Piaget.
The theorist that I chose to write about is Jean Piaget. His theory deals with the nature of knowledge
itself and how humans gradually come to acquire it. His theory is basically known as the
developmental stage theory. In the developmental stage theory there are four different stages of the
developmental theory: the sensorimotor, preoperational, concrete operational and formal operational
period.
Jean Piaget was born in Neuchâtel (Switzerland) on August 9, 1896. He was the oldest child of Arthur
Piaget and Rebecca Jackson. At age 11, when he was just a mere child at Neuchâtel Latin high school,
he wrote a short paper on an albino sparrow. This short notice is usually the start of an intelligent
scientific career made of over 60 books ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He died in Geneva on September, 1980.
Piaget s theory consisted of three different stages: Sensorimotor, Preoperational, Concrete
Operational, and Formal Operational. I ll start out by talking about the first one, sensorimotor. During
the sensorimotor stage, infants and toddlers acquire knowledge through sensory experiences and
manipulating objects. It was his observations of his daughter and nephew that heavily influenced his
conception of this stage. At this point in development, a child s intelligence consists of their basic
motor and sensory explorations of the world. Piaget believed that developing object constancy, the
understanding that objects continue to exist even when they cannot be seen, played an important role
at this point of development. By learning that objects are separate and distinct items and that they have
a presence of their own outside of what an individual perceives it to be, children are then able to begin
to attach names and words to objects. The next stage in the developmental theory is the Preoperational
stage. At this stage, kids learn through pretend play but still struggle with logic and taking the point of
view of other people. They also often struggle with understanding the ideal of constancy. For example,
a researcher might take a lump of clay, divide it into two equal pieces, and then give a child the choice
between two pieces of clay to play with. One piece of clay is rolled into a compact ball

The Murder Of A Green Light
Chief Justice Bird dissented with the majority that second degree murder should not be applied that
believes that the prosecution had to prove two elements of implied malice which are an intent to kill
and a conscious disregard with life. She believes that the majority fail to show the existence of these
two elements in this case. The facts showed that the act of speeding through a green light can be
dangerous, but it is not an act likely to cause the death of another individual. Also, it was 1 a.m. and
the witness testified that there was no other cars around. She compares the defendant s actions to those
of the defendants in People v. Fuller (1978). In this case, the defendants fled from the police during an
attempted auto burglary and began to drive on the wrong side of the road. This happened in an early
Sunday morning, so many cars had to swerve and avoid the defendants. They ran a redlight and went
through two police cars that were trying to block him off. They ran a second red light and hit a car
which resulted in the driver s death. Chief Justice Bird compares the facts of that case to this one. She
compares how in this case the defendant did not run a red light where the collision occurred and the
streets were empty since it was 1 a.m. She does agree that driving while being under the influence
does make driving more dangerous and can cause more accidents, but he does not believe that driving
under the influence is not enough evidence to establish an act to kill

To some people a beard is nothing more than a facial feature, but to others it is the ultimate form of
self expression. Even at a first glance it is easy to differentiate between a beard that is result of careful
grooming and that which stems from simply not shaving. In other words, growing a true manly beard
takes time, knowledge and no small amount of patience. Coincidently, these values are something that
a real man is supposed to possess, which is why manscaping stands as a symbol of manliness.
So far, we talked about the commitment needed to grow a beard, but the most important thing about it
is the upkeep. This means washing your beard regularly, trimming it whenever possible and using a
wide array of quality products. Unfortunately, there is no such thing as an ultimate tip for skin care,
since there are numerous variables to take into consideration. Amongst them, the two most important
are your skin and hair type as well as the climate conditions. Because of this, you need to pay special
attention during the winter period and here are few tips that may help you out.
Identify your Skin Type
The first thing you want to do is try to identify your skin and hair type. This will help determine how
often you are supposed to wash your beard and what kind of products you ... Show more content on

The last thing you want is for your beard to get wet from snow or ice. Although having an icy beard
may look awesome and completely fit in with the overall spirit of the holiday season, its effects on the
health of your facial hair can be quite devastating. You see, when combined, the moisture and low
temperature can leave your hair quite brittle, which means that it can be prone to breaking. Seeing
how beard alone has the ability to make your winter significantly both warmer and overall safer, when
combined with a nice scarf, the effects of this can

Tone Of Letter From Birmingham Jail
Well known speaker, writer, and so much more, Martin Luther King Jr., in his letter, Letter from
Birmingham Jail, provides a powerful and insightful look into what it is like being a black person
during the time when America was in a battle, so to speak, against segregation. Kings purpose is to
provide his readers, eight clergymen whom called his actions unwise and untimely (King 800), with
an insight on what it is like trying to make a change in the world through peaceful negotiation but
continually getting little to no result. He provides a compelling tone in order to gain the sympathy of
the eight clergymen he was as addressing along with all his present and even future readers. King
begins his letter by explaining that he is in Birmingham ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
moves to explaining all the many different reasons he is gravely disappointed with the white moderate
reasons such as being, more devoted to order than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the
absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says: I agree
with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action ; who
paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man s freedom; who lives by a mythical
concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a more convenient season. ( King
805 ) He continues to elaborate on why he is so disappointed in the white community until he begins
to shift to a different route leading to the church, Christians, and even God. He ends his letter by
apologizing to the clergymen for writing such a long letter, explaining that the only reason his letter is
so long is because of where he is with nothing better to do than to write, think and pray.
After analyzing Letter from Birmingham Jail, you could reasonably conclude that King has written an
effective argument that is likely to convince his readers that his presence in Birmingham is both
justified and necessary. (Kirszner and Mandell 102) King is successfully able to portray his thoughts
and feelings to his readers by explaining why it is necessary to take more forceful measures but also
explaining how said measures can be

How Does Leo Tolstoy Use Direct Characterization In Anna...
Use Of Indirect Characterization in Anna Karenina
Russian author, Leo Tolstoy, is famous for his novels, among them, Anna Karenina . It is said that
Tolstoy reaches unsurpassed perfection in the realistic art of the novel with Anna Karenina .
In the novel Anna Karenina , Tolstoy leads the reader through Anna Arkadyevna Karenin s life and all
the people who surround her. The reader follows Anna as she sorts out a fight between her brother
Stepan and his wife Dolly. Next the reader finds themselves trailing Anna as she dances away from a
Moscow ball with Count Vronsky s heart. The path this novel takes then forks as the reader begins to
follow Levin and his pursuit of the young and beautiful Kitty who was once a friend of ... Show more

Instead of being hurt, denying, defending himself, begging for forgiveness, instead of remaining
indifferent even . . . his face utterly involuntary assumed its habitual, good humored, and therefore
idiotic smile (5 6). Even though Stepan s in a bad situation, his nature forces him to smile.
The reader becomes more aware of Stepan s good natured personality when he shows kindness to his
friend Levin after he approaches Stepan at a political council meeting. Well lets go into my room, said
Stepan Arkadyevitch who knew his friends sensitive and irritable shyness (29).
With the character Levin, Tolstoy once again cleverly uses indirect characterization to allow the reader
to look inside of him. When Levin falls into the story, he has just been caught sneaking into the
political council without permission. Usually, men of good character would not need, or simply would
not want to be sneaking into places where their presence is not invited. Levin is also a large man who
is strongly built. The stereo type of large men is that they are confident, loud, and even boisterous. As
the reader learns of Levin s love for Kitty, their opinion soon changes. Indirect characterization shows
that Levin is actually a humble man. When thinking of Kitty and her feelings for him, Levin s
thoughts said, He heard that women often did care for ugly and ordinary men, but he did not believe it

Bandura Bobo Experiment
Bandura s Bobo Doll Study In 1961 Albert Bandura and two of his colleagues set out to find empirical
evidence to support his Social Learning Theory, which is the theory that we learn social behavior by
observing and imitating and by being rewarded and punished. (Myers 162) The Transmission of
Aggression Through Imitation of Aggressive Models, is more famously known as the Bobo doll study.
The Bobo doll study tested children s susceptibility to aggressive tendencies by exposing them to adult
models who exhibited aggressive behaviors and observing how the child expressed frustration later on
away from the adult model. The experimenters set out to test a three part hypothesis. The first part was
the idea that children who were exposed to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There were three levels to the independent variable; a control group that had no exposure to an adult
model, an aggressive model group where the adult model was manipulated to show lots of aggression,
and a non aggressive model group where the adult model was manipulated to appear calm and
subdued. The dependent variable was how much aggression the child would display after being put
into a separate playing room without the adult model present. There were 72 children selected, their
ages ranging from 37 months to 69 months, and 2 adults selected, one female and one male. Each
independent variable level had 24 subjects but the aggressive group and non aggressive group were
further subdivided into two groups based on gender, half of which were exposed to the same sex and
the other half exposed to an adult model of a different gender. Each child was placed into a room alone
with a teacher and given an art project to work on and then the adult model was introduced into the
room. The adult was either aggressive or nonaggressive. If they were aggressive they would kick,
punch, sit on, yell at, and throw the bobo doll and if they were non aggressive they would play silently
with the tinker toys in the corner. The adult would then be removed from the room and the children
would be taken by the teacher to a separate room with really nice toys. The teacher would then say
that these toys were not to be played with and that the child could only play with the toys in the other
room. This was designed to frustrate the

Displacement And Delay Of Photography
Displacement and Delay in Photography
Photography endows place with a certain freedom, liberating place from the commitment to a specific
point in time and space, exposing some generic dimension that exists there, enables place to be a sort
of place (...). Taking into account the sentence of Miki Kratsman, I would like to present his
photographs entitled Territory and the way in which they relate to the concepts of space and time.
First, it is necessary to emphasize that the author, born in Argentina and later having immigrated to
Israel, during his career has often documented the difficult Israeli Palestinian situation. Moreover, his
interest in reporting from this area of conflict is significant since he appears as one of the few Israeli
journalists who still cross the border today The project Territory was realized in 2005, seven months
before the evacuation of Israeli settlements present in the South of the Gaza Strip. Thus, the photos do
not show the direct conflict between two populations or what remains of a place tormented by war, on
the contrary, they exhibit a zone, an agglomerate of houses and lives about to disappear forever.
Although when Kratzman has reached Gush Katif only a small part of the inhabitants has already left
their home, what emerges through the images is a feeling of absolute desolation and emptiness.
Therefore, despite its being populated, this piece of land seems to be

Is Okonkwo Sympathetic
Is Okonkwo s family relationships make him a sympathetic or unsympathetic character? There are
many interactions that Okonkwo has with his family. Such as his first, second, and third wife, and all
of his kids. Most of these interactions were negative interactions as it seems like his family is afraid of
him but some were still positive. It may seem like Okonkwo hates his family but he doesn t, he really
loves his family. Okonkwo is a sympathetic character and there are a couple of characters that can
prove this.
One family member/character that Okonkwo interacts with is Nwoye. Nwoye is one of the characters
that proves Okonkwo is a sympathetic character. An excerpt from the story said, Okonkwo s first son,
Nwoye, was then twelve years old but was already causing his father great anxiety for his incipient
laziness. At any rate, that was how it looked to his father, and he sought to correct him by constant
nagging and beating, And so Nwoye was developing into a sad faced youth. Nwoye proves that his
father (Okonkwo) is a sympathetic character because Okonkwo wants to spend his time disciplining

When the people of the western world wanted to know about the foreign languages like Greek and
Latin the grammar translation method appeared. Grammatical rule, memorization of vocabulary,
translation of the text was its focal point. In that time, the Latin language was generally based on
structure and their main objective was to understand the fundamentals of grammar and translation. It
was a hope that through the grammatical rule of the target language the student would know more
about the grammatical rules of their native language and then, it would help them to speak and write in
their native language better. So thinking about the objective of the language, the method came to be
known as classical method. At present, it is very well known as the Grammar Translation

Evolution of the iguana.

This first sentence makes me want to explain how iguanas adapt to their environment thanks to their
ability to change color and hide from predators and keep a look out for how to avoid danger also how
it evolved over time to be so amazing. They actually are very fun to watch too but you know they can
get mad too. Basically i m trying to say how impressive they are from giant lizard and marine snakes
to small iguanas. Well i m just doing this on iguanas because i love how they change colors. They can
avoid being seen so good. They are pretty smart because of how they don t move until they are ready

Roger Waters Research Paper
Roger Waters is, in my opinion, the greatest English songwriter and musical artist of all time. If you
don t know who Waters is, he is the main lyricist and singer of the popular psychedelic rock band Pink
Floyd. The meanings in the poem like lyrics impact, or impacted, the lives of many people including
myself. The flow and general feel of the music seems to relax the brain, at least from my experience.
The hidden stories to his music is incredible as well as the phrasing and use of his language, although
there are some bad things about his music. The moving stories hidden within the lyrics of his music,
and songs of his albums are a great part of the Waters experience. In the play like album The Wall
(1979) it slowly explains the life of an overprotected boy named Pink. It goes through his life of how
his father died in World War II, and his eventual wall casting him from society and normal life. The
album shows personal isolation, neglect, and use of drugs throughout the ninety minutes it takes to
listen to it. The most popular album made by Pink Floyd, Dark Side of the Moon (1973), which sold
over seventy million copies has a story, but not one within the album. The story to pay attention to is a
movie, The Wizard of Oz (1939). If you ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Tell-Tale Heart Argumentative Essay
Do you think it s possible to act insane to get out of murder charges? It shouldn t be. In the story The
Tell Tale Heart by Edgar Allan Poe, the narrator confesses to murdering the old man who was his
living acquaintance. He took wise precautions like preparing for days and hiding the body. He is guilty
because he knew exactly what he was doing when committing the crime. He could have stopped at
anytime but he didn t. This was a premeditated murder.
First of all, he prepared for the murder of the old man by watching the old man for a week before
killing him. In his confession, he said, And this I did for seven long nights, which means he watched
the old man for seven nights before the murder. It wasn t a spur of the moment decision. He was aware
of his actions. He could have stopped one of the nights but continued on, thus was premeditated
murder.
Secondly, he took his time being quiet so as to not awaken the man. He said, I turned the latch of his
door and opened it oh so gently! This means, he knew what his was doing and that he had to be quiet
enough not to awaken the man. The narrator also said, You should have seen how wisely i proceeded.
This matters because he knew if he had woken the man up, he wouldn t be able to rid himself of him.

Nursing Management Case Study Kelly Post-Operatively

happening. To achieve this, nurses must prioritise actions, organise resources and the delivery of care
based on clinical judgement and evidence based practice (Hoch, 2014). Educating the patient,
monitoring their vital signs (includes oxygen saturation, temperature, etc.), pain assessment, oxygen
saturation, temperature, IV infusion, medication management and wound management are all part of
Kelly s intervention. (Refer to Appendix

Child Rearing Problems Around Both Detachment And...
child rearing problems around both detachment and attachment. Children of Holocaust survivors may
be assumed to have taken the emotional states and behaviors of their parents. As such, children who
are born to traumatized Holocaust survivors would be predisposed to PTSD (Kellermann, 264). Other
evidence regarding intergenerational transmission of trauma suggests that survivors have been
affected to different degrees by trauma and share a psychological syndrome referred to as
Concentration Camp Syndrome (Last, 72). Last describes CSS as a relatively fixed, lifelong condition
characterized by various combinations of a wide range of symptoms that are usually regarded as
psychopathological and can be traced to Holocaust experiences. These include lasting depression;
anxiety, emotional ability, irritability, and restlessness; nightmares; a sense depletion, of despair and
alienation; obsessional ruminations; guilt feelings; failing memory and difficulties in concentration;
fatigue; a a variety of psychosomatic complaints (Last, 75). While some therapists believe that the
concept of second generation is in fact a fallacy, others conclude that it is rather impossible to grow up
in a family with Holocaust survivors and not absorb some of the trauma of parents and other family
members. PTSD or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder has been used to characterize the trauma of
Holocaust and Armenian Genocide survivors. The term is defined by autonomic hyperarousal,

Limbo Dance History
Most people think of Limbo as a happy dance or a fun time, but the real history of it was not so
exciting. The limbo dance started in Trinidad and Tobago as it was brought to Caribbean islands with
african slaves. The men and woman were held in different parts of the ship. When the men and woman
wanted to see each other they would have to go under low and hard to reach areas. It would be very
difficult to get underneath the floorboards so some people made it and some people didn t.
Limbo was mostly done in a slow and sad way at funerals.
After the 1950s and 60s calypso music was starting to get very popular so they made the dance all
happy and colorful. Since it is such a fun dance and it s so happy it has gotten popular all over the
world. The limbo pole was originally a broom. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

watching the videos on these dances. In the Lindy Hop, I noticed the dancing to be representative of
primarily men in the beginning of the dance. Later on, women did come into the dance to join the
man. The two stayed in relatively the same space the entire time while dancing, and the movements
were not super fast. There was, however, a lot of body movements going on in that time. The music
became progessively faster over the course of the video, and

Rose For Emily Sympathy
William Faulkner s short story, A Rose for Emily, is depicted through the several encounters and
accounts of a group of townspeople during the period of her life. Although it is not specifically stated,
it can be inferred that the narrators are not of one particular gender or age category, but are a large
combination of diverse bystanders compiled to recount the notorious events of the life of Emily
Grierson. Additionally, it is implied that the narrators are Caucasian men and women during a time in
which white superiority prevailed, for it is made evident in the story by the presence of offensive
racial, derogatory terms such as negro and nigger, and by the fact that Emily had hired black domestic
maintenance for her home. In the era ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the contrary, the rose symbolizes the pity and sympathy in which the author feels for the
protagonist as the story progresses and reveals the tragic incidents that have permeated her life with
solemn misery. In the era in which this work was originally created, it was common to offer a rose to
one who has endured great suffering to display their emotions of sorrow and condolence. Therefore,
the title itself unveils that Emily might partake on a journey of heartbreak and bitterness and would be
the epitome of a valid recipient of rose in that period. A logical reason as to why the title is not A Rose
for Miss Emily is that it might reveal more of the story than Faulkner had originally intended. When
addressing the protagonist as Miss, the reader immediately knows that she is a maiden, without a
husband and maybe without a true love. However, when Emily is simply referred to by her first name,
the audience is given broader horizon and a greater amount of space to imagine how the details of the
story will unfold. Thus, one does not know whether she is single, married, divorced, widowed, a
mother, a grandmother, and so

Even though the violence is a factor in why many believe that guns should be banned, guns should be allowed and not banned because they should be allowed because of the laws and the rights of citizens allow them there rights. The ethics and laws that occur with the current and enduring debates are another meaningful point. As Supreme Court Cases rage on about how a cities ban on handguns could break amendments, this is how the topic has gained from it (Hoxie 474). Many believe that if guns are made illegal that there will be more violence due to how they receive the weapon most likely illegally. As there are many kids that have obtained guns without their parents even notice, they can bring tragedy to their schools, as kids are likely to open fire on other kids if they would obtain a gun. It would not be the first time a child would have done this, as it happened in Paducah, Kentucky as three children were killed in the lobby by a fourteen year old. He was charged as a juvenile, as he was just a child (Collier 477). There are many statistics that prove to be a major factor on why the juvenile system will most likely be revamped. Most states have a way of sending children to a juvenile court, where they can only be found delinquent and placed in a facility. This has been the normal way of taking care of it for quite a long time and many believe that this law or rule needs to be changed. Crimes are linked to guns and the violence they bring in many ways. • 4. Compare And Contrast The Santa Ana And Brush Fire Different Things People can look at the same situations and see different things. In Brush Fire by Linda Thomas and The Santa Ana by Joan Didion, both writers are writing about the same situation however, the texts are both vastly different. Both essays are written about the Santa Ana winds, which is a wind that blows through both southern and northern California. The message of Brush Fire by Linda Thomas is that the Santa Ana winds are more of an event that happens yearly that causes many great effects on the earth that outway the bad. Nevertheless, in The Santa Ana by Joan Didion the message is that the Santa Ana is a horrid occurrence that happens each year that only brings a string of negative effects with it. The writers take a completely different approach, trying to describe the subject. The author s writing style divert from each other through the use of style elements, rhetorical and literary devices, as well as rhetorical appeals. The Santa Ana and Brush Fire have several similarities and differences in style elements. The Santa Ana and Brush Fire differ in the use of syntax. In The Santa Ana, Didion uses more complex syntax with longer sentences and the text overall is longer. Dissimilar from Brush Fire, in which Thomas uses a simpler syntax that has much shorter and concise sentences. The Santa Ana also uses antithesis repeatedly, which establishes a juxtaposition, this shows the good and bad of the situation. Thomas s sentences are shorter and more fact based which gets more to the point faster and shorter. However, Didion s sentences are longer and more opinion and has a more personal feel than, Brush Fire. The diction in The Santa Ana and Brush Fire differ vastly. Thomas uses a more dark diction uses words like words like murder, suicide, and depression. Unlike, Didion who has a more reflective diction and uses words like return , will be , new , and cancels out . Both The Santa Ana and Brush Fire use a heavy use of imagery. In The Santa Ana Didion not only describes the Santa Ana winds, but also describes other winds that are similar. Didion compares the winds to show the negative effects that both winds have on the people. An example of this is The Santa Ana,which is named for one ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. The Four Evangelists Out of the four Evangelists, I find Mark to be the most intriguing. Not because he had the first gospel to be composed, but his drive and affection for Jesus. I will be discussing the play Everyman and how Mark s purpose to encourage a group undergoing difficult trials and persecutions correlates with the play both philosophically and aesthetically. Everyman summarizes that every person will be asked about their sins and good deeds. Mark on the other hand (also Matthew), both say the same thing about Jesus when he s resurrected. My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? (Just). This shows that Mark was very big on salvation. He wanted people who committed sins in his community to be rectified by Christ. Everyman basically wants all Christian souls to be petrified of resurrection, but they want them to repent while Mark looks at it in a much more optimistic way. He not only wants them to repent, but wants them to be ready for the return of Christ. Persevere in faith despite suffering; follow Jesus on the way to the cross; be ready for his return (Just). Although Mark showed lots of love and devotion towards Christ, he s the only evangelist to describe his agony and tragic death. He viewed Jesus as Gods persecuted one because of him dying and feeling abandoned (PBS). The lion with wings symbolizes the Evangelical Mark. This not only shows his bravery, but why he would fit inevitably in Everyman. It s only for strong Christian believers like Mark, but, of course, there are many more strong believers. Throughout Everyman you see the Christians repeat the same thing which is repenting to God for their sins. Cyrus Clinder Thesis Core Concept Essay One The Cyrus Cylinder, the Mandate of Heaven and the Ashurbanipal document are ancient texts written by or on behalf of leaders of civilizations who came to power through different means. These civilizations shared similar aspects, although differing in some ways. Differences in the style of leadership highlight important cultural variations, which likely contributed to either the success or failure of each empire. The Cyrus Cylinder talks mainly about how Cyrus conquers the old city of Babylon (Cyrus). This document varies from the others because it talks about how Marduk utilized evil and how he tormented the people. He eventually learned how to lessen his anger, and decided to create peace. He decided to do this by finding a new king, Cyrus, to create a more stable civilization. It was likely written to demonstrate the effectiveness of Cyrus style of ruling as well as to establish what the basic human rights are (or should be). Also, it showed that putting Cyrus in charge allowed the people to become full of life again. This shows that Cyrus wanted to please others. Spike Lee s film Bamboozled (2000), cinematically stages American mass entertainment s history of discrimination with humiliating minstrel stereotypes which was first brought to film in 1915 by D.W. Griffith s The Birth of a Nation. ‘Blackface minstrelsy is a disturbing legacy that began as a tradition in the early 1800s on stage, with white actors using burnt corks to darken their skin and allowing them to portray African American slaves, usually as lazy, child like providers of comic relief (4). For example the audience may believe that the masked Ku Klux Klan riders were white behind their masks and have in reality may have tried to forget that many of the fleeing African Americans were actually white actors. American whiteness as articulated by Birth of a Nation is built on stereotypes, and this is precisely why minstrelsy might have the power to resist racism. Minstrel performances relied on stereotypes to evoke their opposites. It is possible to assume that the discourse of mass entertainment from its minstrel days to current film and possibly beyond, recognizing and accepting blackface conventions and stereotypes were key, almost necessary conditions of American whiteness. Minstrelsy took the productive ambivalence inherent to the stereotype and magnified it to increase the stereotype s inevitable undoing of itself (4). But in Birth of a Nation, the determining concept of the stereotype that makes sense is disrupted by the inevitable context provided by narrative: in the film s narrative, African Americans are seen gently working and playing for their master s benefit prior to the Civil War. This stereotypical representation draws on myths that blackface minstrelsy seemed to ally to the politics of white supremacy; it worked to promote propaganda. It is an era of artistic style that used sensational motion and obvious, easily interpreted features to produce drama, tension, and magnificence in architecture, sculptures, paintings, literature, theatre, dance and music. Baroque art is usually very frisky and has several ornaments. It was between the styles of Renaissance and Neoclassicism. This means it began at the begging of the 16th century (around 1600), at that time, there were absolutist monarchs in Europe. The movement started in Italy. His theory deals with the nature of knowledge itself and how humans gradually come to acquire it. His theory is basically known as the developmental stage theory. In the developmental stage theory there are four different stages of the developmental theory: the sensorimotor, preoperational, concrete operational and formal operational period. Jean Piaget was born in Neuchâtel (Switzerland) on August 9, 1896. He was the oldest child of Arthur Piaget and Rebecca Jackson. Piaget s theory consisted of three different stages: Sensorimotor, Preoperational, Concrete Operational, and Formal Operational. I ll start out by talking about the first one, sensorimotor. During the sensorimotor stage, infants and toddlers acquire knowledge through sensory experiences and manipulating objects. It was his observations of his daughter and nephew that heavily influenced his conception of this stage. At this point in development, a child s intelligence consists of their basic motor and sensory explorations of the world. Piaget believed that developing object constancy, the understanding that objects continue to exist even when they cannot be seen, played an important role at this point of development. By learning that objects are separate and distinct items and that they have a presence of their own outside of what an individual perceives it to be, children are then able to begin to attach names and words to objects. The next stage in the developmental theory is the Preoperational stage. At this stage, kids learn through pretend play but still struggle with logic and taking the point of view of other people. They also often struggle with understanding the ideal of constancy. For example, a researcher might take a lump of clay, divide it into two equal pieces, and then give a child the choice between two pieces of clay to play with. She believes that the majority fail to show the existence of these two elements in this case. The facts showed that the act of speeding through a green light can be dangerous, but it is not an act likely to cause the death of another individual. Also, it was 1 a.m. and the witness testified that there was no other cars around. She compares the defendant s actions to those of the defendants in People v. Fuller (1978). In this case, the defendants fled from the police during an attempted auto burglary and began to drive on the wrong side of the road. This happened in an early Sunday morning, so many cars had to swerve and avoid the defendants. They ran a redlight and went through two police cars that were trying to block him off. They ran a second red light and hit a car which resulted in the driver s death. Chief Justice Bird compares the facts of that case to this one. She compares how in this case the defendant did not run a red light where the collision occurred and the streets were empty since it was 1 a.m. She does agree that driving while being under the influence does make driving more dangerous and can cause more accidents, but he does not believe that driving under the influence is not enough evidence to establish an act to kill ... Background: When the people of the western world wanted to know about the foreign languages like Greek and Latin the grammar translation method appeared. Grammatical rule, memorization of vocabulary, translation of the text was its focal point. In that time, the Latin language was generally based on structure and their main objective was to understand the fundamentals of grammar and translation. It was a hope that through the grammatical rule of the target language the student would know more about the grammatical rules of their native language and then, it would help them to speak and write in their native language better. • 30. Roger Waters Research Paper Roger Waters is, in my opinion, the greatest English songwriter and musical artist of all time. If you don t know who Waters is, he is the main lyricist and singer of the popular psychedelic rock band Pink Floyd. The meanings in the poem like lyrics impact, or impacted, the lives of many people including myself. The flow and general feel of the music seems to relax the brain, at least from my experience. The hidden stories to his music is incredible as well as the phrasing and use of his language, although there are some bad things about his music. The moving stories hidden within the lyrics of his music, and songs of his albums are a great part of the Waters experience. In the play like album The Wall (1979) it slowly explains the life of an overprotected boy named Pink. It goes through his life of how his father died in World War II, and his eventual wall casting him from society and normal life. The album shows personal isolation, neglect, and use of drugs throughout the ninety minutes it takes to listen to it. The most popular album made by Pink Floyd, Dark Side of the Moon (1973), which sold over seventy million copies has a story, but not one within the album. The story to pay attention to is a movie, The Wizard of Oz (1939). If you ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The words allow the songs to flow together with each other in a better way. • 32. The Tell-Tale Heart Argumentative Essay Do you think it s possible to act insane to get out of murder charges? It shouldn t be. In the story The Tell Tale Heart by Edgar Allan Poe, the narrator confesses to murdering the old man who was his living acquaintance. He took wise precautions like preparing for days and hiding the body. He is guilty because he knew exactly what he was doing when committing the crime. He could have stopped at anytime but he didn t. This was a premeditated murder. First of all, he prepared for the murder of the old man by watching the old man for a week before killing him. In his confession, he said, And this I did for seven long nights, which means he watched the old man for seven nights before the murder. It wasn t a spur of the moment decision. He was aware of his actions. He could have stopped one of the nights but continued on, thus was premeditated murder. Secondly, he took his time being quiet so as to not awaken the man. He said, I turned the latch of his door and opened it oh so gently! This means, he knew what his was doing and that he had to be quiet enough not to awaken the man. The narrator also said, You should have seen how wisely i proceeded. This matters because he knew if he had woken the man up, he wouldn t be able to rid himself of him. The narrator ... Patients are more at risk of complications post operatively, that is why implementation is necessary to minimise it from happening. To achieve this, nurses must prioritise actions, organise resources and the delivery of care based on clinical judgement and evidence based practice (Hoch, 2014). • 34. Child Rearing Problems Around Both Detachment And... child rearing problems around both detachment and attachment. Children of Holocaust survivors may be assumed to have taken the emotional states and behaviors of their parents. As such, children who are born to traumatized Holocaust survivors would be predisposed to PTSD (Kellermann, 264). Other evidence regarding intergenerational transmission of trauma suggests that survivors have been affected to different degrees by trauma and share a psychological syndrome referred to as Concentration Camp Syndrome (Last, 72). Last describes CSS as a relatively fixed, lifelong condition characterized by various combinations of a wide range of symptoms that are usually regarded as psychopathological and can be traced to Holocaust experiences. These include lasting depression; anxiety, emotional ability, irritability, and restlessness; nightmares; a sense depletion, of despair and alienation; obsessional ruminations; guilt feelings; failing memory and difficulties in concentration; fatigue; a a variety of psychosomatic complaints (Last, 75). While some therapists believe that the concept of second generation is in fact a fallacy, others conclude that it is rather impossible to grow up in a family with Holocaust survivors and not absorb some of the trauma of parents and other family members. PTSD or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder has been used to characterize the trauma of Holocaust and Armenian Genocide survivors. The term is defined by autonomic hyperarousal, intrusive recurrence, ... • 35. Limbo Dance History Most people think of Limbo as a happy dance or a fun time, but the real history of it was not so exciting. The limbo dance started in Trinidad and Tobago as it was brought to Caribbean islands with african slaves. The men and woman were held in different parts of the ship. When the men and woman wanted to see each other they would have to go under low and hard to reach areas. It would be very difficult to get underneath the floorboards so some people made it and some people didn t. Limbo was mostly done in a slow and sad way at funerals. After the 1950s and 60s calypso music was starting to get very popular so they made the dance all happy and colorful. • 36. History Of The Swing Dance The swing era consisted of interesting dances, including the Lindy Hop (Savoy Night life). These dances primarily differed from those of Latin Dance, such as the Rumba, Samba and Mambo, but do have some similarities as well. Here are some of the observations and comparisons I have made after watching the videos on these dances. In the Lindy Hop, I noticed the dancing to be representative of primarily men in the beginning of the dance. Later on, women did come into the dance to join the man. The two stayed in relatively the same space the entire time while dancing, and the movements were not super fast. There was, however, a lot of body movements going on in that time. • 37. Rose For Emily Sympathy William Faulkner s short story, A Rose for Emily, is depicted through the several encounters and accounts of a group of townspeople during the period of her life. Although it is not specifically stated, it can be inferred that the narrators are not of one particular gender or age category, but are a large combination of diverse bystanders compiled to recount the notorious events of the life of Emily Grierson. Additionally, it is implied that the narrators are Caucasian men and women during a time in which white superiority prevailed, for it is made evident in the story by the presence of offensive racial, derogatory terms such as negro and nigger, and by the fact that Emily had hired black domestic maintenance for her home. In the era ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On the contrary, the rose symbolizes the pity and sympathy in which the author feels for the protagonist as the story progresses and reveals the tragic incidents that have permeated her life with solemn misery. In the era in which this work was originally created, it was common to offer a rose to one who has endured great suffering to display their emotions of sorrow and condolence. Therefore, the title itself unveils that Emily might partake on a journey of heartbreak and bitterness and would be the epitome of a valid recipient of rose in that period. A logical reason as to why the title is not A Rose for Miss Emily is that it might reveal more of the story than Faulkner had originally intended. When addressing the protagonist as Miss, the reader immediately knows that she is a maiden, without a husband and maybe without a true love. However, when Emily is simply referred to by her first name, the audience is given broader horizon and a greater amount of space to imagine how the details of the story will unfold. Thus, one does not know whether she is single, married, divorced, widowed, a mother, a grandmother, and so ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
