2. Marcus Going To The Theater Play Analysis
Theater performances in antiquity were typically dedicated to a pagan god or goddess, and the
plays often ran as part of larger public religious festivals. Scenes portraying blatant immorality
were commonplace. All this proved rather troubling to the early church. Christian leaders, such as
Tertullian, spoke out in opposition to the idea of believers going to the theater: Why is it right to
look on what it is disgraceful to do? How is it that the things which defile a man in going out of his
mouth, are not regarded as doing so when they go in at this eyes and ears when eyes and ears are
the immediate attendants of the spirit? You have the theater forbidden, then, in the forbidding of
immodesty. Thus, when an actor converted to Christ in third century... Show more content on

Our new convert now faced an economic dilemma, however, since he was no longer gainfully
employed. So, instead of acting, Marcus opened an acting school. This apparently created quite
a stir among Marcus s fellow Christians, and the surviving letters exchanged by his pastor and
the church s bishop paint a portrait of the church truly living out its strong group family values.
Marcus s pastor, Eucratius, naturally wondered how it could be acceptable for Marcus to teach
others what he himself was forbidden to do. Yet Marcus had already made a tremendous sacrifice
to follow Jesus. So Eucratius wrote to his spiritual mentor, Cyprian of Carthage, to ask whether
such a man ought to remain in communion with us. Cyprian s reaction to Marcus was
unequivocal: It is not in keeping with the reverence due to the majesty of God and with the
observance of the gospel teachings for the honor and respect of the church to be polluted by
contamination at once so degraded and so scandalous. No compromise. No drama teaching. Marcus
must either leave the church or quit his job again. Marcus s story has the strong group, surrogate
family [character] written all over it. It is Cyprian s conviction that the honor and respect of the
church must take priority over Marcus and his acting academy. Marcus, on his part, finds himself
answering to the church for his whole vocational and financial

3. What Does The Eye Of The Storm Mean
Studs Terkel (1980) relates C. P. Ellis story about how his experiences organizing a union opened
his eyes about how corporations treat minorities, and resulted in a new understanding of the
people around him even though he was a former Klansman. I have never been in the Klan or
organized a union, but a similar turning point for me came for me when I saw the movie The Eye
of the Storm, about Jane Elliot s experiment with white schoolchildren in Riceville, Iowa. This
experiment demonstrated to me how children respond to cultural cues first from their parents and
family members, but then through the institutions they are forced to participate in like school; the
church; other families and supervisory agencies. If even white children can be taught to
discriminate against other white children on something as arbitrary and insubstantial as eye color,
then how easy it must be to train them to respond in denigrating ways to people with different skin
color, body shapes or language for example, I realized. This changed my perspective on racismand
ethnicity and while I have since done much research and believe education is the secret, the way I
have decided to implement change in my own life, is to speak out when I hear someone making a
denigrating comment.
This goes back to what I learned from The Eye of the Storm, where if people accept certain
behaviors as normal, as the children in Ms. Elliot s class were trained to do, then they become so
reinforced as to turn into norms

Innovation:
Product innovation is the creation and subsequent introduction of a good or service that is either
new, or improved on previous goods or services.
Product innovation is defined as: the development of new products, changes in design of
established products, or use of new materials or components in the manufacture of established
products[1]
Thus product innovation can be divided into two categories of innovation: development of new
products, and improvement of existing products.
Systemmatic Innovation of Products includes:
Technology strategy

Systematic creativity methods

Design for environmental sustainability

development tools and methods into perspective. Research should be directed to assure that: (1) the
firm is operating on the efficient frontier with respect to each of these strategic goals, and (2) the
firm is making the best tradeoffs among these goals. Research must recognize that there are
tradeoffs along the efficient frontier. For example, if wefocus on just two of the many goals of
product development, then the efficient frontier suggests that there are tradeoffs between customer
satisfaction and platform reuse. A firm can becometoo committed to either. For example, the
significant reuse of components in platforms, software, and designs may get the product to the

Tiara Boone Eng 105 03 Amber O Sullivan 10/31/17 Pro life I am pro life. All the procedures
doctors use to perform abortions seem harmful and uncomfortable to both the mother and baby.
One method used is Dilation and Evacuation. Basically the mother is given drugs to force a
speedy dilation of her uterus, then the doctor takes forceps and inserts them into the woman s
womb and begins dismembering the baby by breaking the baby s bones, skull, and spine and then
removes the now dead baby (Lloyd 1). That just sounds inhumane for someone to be okay with.

unhappy with the sex of their baby then they can terminate the pregnancy. This article I read

Not Just Horsing Around
Imagine yourself as a child with restricted movements and impairments not felt by others your age.
Imagine for a longing to be free, free from the restricting walls of the hospital and therapy room.
Freedom was a goal that Anne and Tom had for their son William. They wanted freedom of the
traditional therapy setting because watching their child make little to no progress therapy session
after therapy session left Anne and Tom discouraged. They wanted nothing more for their son
than to thrive and develop the new skills that they knew he could. William has hypotonia, or low
muscle tone and some overall developmental delays said Anne. His parents set several goals, but
their first goal was to get William to learn to walk. Watching his therapy sessions in the traditional
setting were painful as parents. They were feeling hopeless with the lack of progress with the
physical therapy sessions William was attending. The Physical therapist herself felt that there was
not much more that she could do there in the hospital for William. That s when she recommended
hippotherapy. Hippotherapy is what would eventually get William to his goal of walking in 3 short
months, and though not a therapy goal, one of William s first words was Dolly, the name of a
favorite volunteer. Hippotherapy for William. What is hippotherapy? Hippotherapy

7. Pure Intuition, By Immanuel Kant
Math, to Kant is synthetic because mathematical knowledge requires is true more than just
definition. All bachelors are unmarried is analytic; the bachelor down the street is untidy is
synthetic. This may seem odd; 1+2 = 3 seems to be analytic, as 2 is the sum of 1 and 1 by
definition. Nevertheless this is illusory, according to Kant, because this is already a solved
equation. When we look at an unsolved equation, we are presented with a problem. Take, for
example 1+2 alone. We do not know what the sum of 1 and 2 are, just that their sum constitutes a
number. We then must solve the equation using our intuition, or capacity to reason to come upon
the answer, 3. The answer to the equation is not initially contained in the equation in question. If it
were, then there would be no... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This may seem peculiar at first, as Kant previously defines intuition as sense perception. How, one
may ask, could one perceive without sensation? Kant explains that sensory intuition helps us
visualise physical objects, while pure intuition helps us visualise abstractions this means we are
capable of visualisation objects before their actual experience. Although this may seem peculiar,
this, Kant explains, is because when we intuit something, we only intuit our own perceptions: we
cannot comprehend things in themselves, or what he called in Critique of Pure Reason noumena .
Otherwise, all our intuitions would be empirical, and such pure mathematics would not be
possible: we could simply see things as they really are, and we would not resort to abstracting
relationships between concepts as we do in mathematics. What we perceive are our own
understandings and ideas of objects; to understand them as they really are is not just impossible,
but we could not even comprehend what it would be

able to afford to provide for their children as they ad hoped. They may struggle to buy enough
food, especially health food, to eat, buy clothes to wear or even to provide heating and electric.
This can affect their physical and mental health due to poor hygiene and diet. Some children
may suffer with low self esteem and low self respect because of the stigma attached to poverty,
this can affect them in later life also. Ethnic/cultural beliefs and customs Whilst children and
young people should feel proud of their ethnicity, some may experience racism which can have
an impact on their self esteem, what they would like to do and their outlook. This factor may
affect how they dress, their dietary requirements and socialising. They may encounter

Abstract The purpose of this experiment was to test the correlation of heart recovery rates post
exercise in both athletes and non athletes and determine which group had the faster recovery rate.
This was accomplished by selecting six non athletes and six athletes to run one lap around the
Fresno Pacific track for two days. Each participant s resting heartrate was taken before running the
lap and instantly after running the lap as well. Upon completion of the lap their heart ratewas
measured in thirty second intervals and it was noted how long it took to get back down to each
initial resting heart rate again. Due to the athletes training it was hypothesized that they would have

The subjects were given a survey on their health as to avoid injured or asthmatic variables. Also
they were all required to be in the healthy BMI range and the athletes were from one sport and
the non athletes had a strict definition of exercise as less than twice a week. However, a few
errors could have slipped through. For example when recording the participants heart rate. The
pulse was sometimes hard to locate requiring more time to look for it after their lap run and
perhaps lose data in the process. Another possible error that could have occurred was taking the
recovery times. The majority of the participant trials were done by one project partner making it
difficult to monitor the thirty second intervals while measuring and recording the heart rates as
well. In future studies these errors may be avoided by requiring all the researchers be present for
the experiment in order to secure more definitive results. Another issue that occurred was the
participants failing to show up, more so in the athlete group, which left a hole in hour
experimental data because we were unable to reach the intended six athlete total due to this issue.
Future researchers should attempt to have all the athlete and non athlete participants together at
one time for each day. This would avoid having to come back day by day and remember who did

When put oneself in Jim s shoes in Jim and the Indians , the ethical choice demanded, is not an easy

However, I can say that no matter what the choice I decide through a dice throw is worse than

it can be calculated using math to project the probability of getting a particular number.
It is still a random way to assign decisions to each of its number and use it to solve a moral

When someone makes a decision or takes an action that goes against their personal beliefs, they
experience a sense of discomfort; this discomfort felt is due to cognitive dissonance. People may
values and beliefs that they live by. A person who believes that smoking cigarettes are bad is
unlikely to smoke a cigarette; if they do smoke a cigarette than they will experience some
discomfort. The action of smoking is conflicting with their idea that smoking is bad; this creates
cognitive dissonance. The mind wants to keep these values in accordance with the principle of

The idea is applicable in everyday life; we can use cognitive dissonance to help people make
better decisions throughout the day. When we finish using the bathroom we often see a sign
asking us to wash our hands to prevent disease and infection. When someone thinks to not wash
their hands but sees the sign, they will experience cognitive dissonance. To get rid of this
discomfort they will probably choose to wash their hands. Small interactions like these help better
the world; by placing small changes like these in someone s environment we can remind people of
their morals and values.
Explain how the topic applies to your own life or to someone that you know.

13. Sufferation In Cynthia Ozick s The Shawl
There are some events in human history that are so devastating that they will be remembered
forever. The Holocaust is one of those events. The brutal genocide during World War II is still being
talked about and analyzed to this day. There are books, movies, and documentaries that attempt to
describe the horrors that took place in the concentration camps. Cynthia Ozickwrote a two part
book, entitled The Shawl, which includes the short storyThe Shawl and the novella, Rosa. The
book as a whole takes a look at the Holocaust in a different light because it focuses on the story of
one person, Rosa, and how she is affected by the trauma years later. The Shawl describes an
experience in a concentration camp that is both devastating and emotional. Ozick s short story uses
vivid imagery to explore the theme of sufferingthat victims of the Holocaust endured and how they
were able to survive. In The Shawl, Ozick uses elaborate imagery to describe the suffering that
Rosa in particular experiences. It is common knowledge that victims of the Holocaust faced cruelty
and devastation during World War II. It is interesting how Ozick does not directly say that the
setting is a concentration camp or that this event takes place during the war. Instead, the author uses
vivid imagery to contextualize the situation. For example, Ozick uses imagery to describe the cruel
nature of the living conditions that Rosa and the others had to endure. The very first sentence,

While in a majority of states the age of consent is sixteen, adolescents of that age are in most cases
not mentally or financially capable to care for a child, causing the need for government
assistance. When an individual becomes eighteen years old they are legally an adult and entrusted
to make adult decisions, such as voting or buying tobacco products. In most cases persons of that
age are capable of providing for themselves and if necessary, a child. People under the age should
not be allowed legally to participate in such an activity that requires adult judgment and
responsibilities, however, it should not affect their ability to receive contraceptives or sexual health
care.
There is a major stipulation in the concept of privacy and minor s sexual activities. Some may
argue the fact being able to receive contraceptive, abortions, or medical attention for STDs are
grounds for having privacy in their sexual lives. However, these are aspects of health and are
considered too private for state involvement. In the case of a minor s right to privacy in engaging
with an adult, the proposal of privacy rights are ultimately invalid as it is seen as a potential
hazard to their health. In relation to one another, however, have shown contradictory. In the Florida

The Mexican American War The Mexican War, Spanish Guerra de 1847, or Guerra do Estados

even before the war officially began. Eisenhower simply and bluntly stated: The fact is that Mexico
stood in the way of the American dream of Manifest Destiny. Manifest Destiny was just one of the
causes that pushed us to war with Mexico. The first battle was at Palo Alto, a fort that was in the
disputed zone. There were many battles in 2 years. The war finally grasped an end when Mexico
signed a treaty in Mexico City. With the treaty, U.S and Mexico were able to reach terms. Each

Prior to the Mexican American War, there were many events that lead to the cause of the war. For
many years, Americans and Mexicans had very little direct contact, because they were separated

Introduction
Big data, defined as a popular term used to describe the exponential growth and availability of
data (What is Big Data? , n. d. ), has attracted considerable interest in many fields as it promises to
offer a level of analytic detail that has not been reached so far. Whilst it is often promoted as the
solution to many marketing problems, it has some significant disadvantages. Cost, data selection,
problems relating to the interpretation of the data and difficulties deciding how to apply the new
knowledge to existing products and product design are all important problems.

Probably, Big Data can be the future of marketing. However, there are some problems in using
Big Data because of these characteristics. If the enterprises do not know how to address problems,
the investment will be wasted while enterprises still search around in the haystack for the needle.
Therefore, some problems will be illustrated followed by the solutions for Big Data.
Problems
Firstly, the main problem is deciding which data should be selected. The data, explaining customers
desires and needs, is important to be collected while most of the enterprises are confusing about
what data they should concentrate on. A recent Gartner report (2014) stresses that 64% of firms
raced to plan or launch a Big Data project, though they did not have enough professional knowledge
yet. To understand what customers need through Big Data possibly turns into the core of
companies target. The large data volumes and different varieties of data lead to data complexity.
Secondly, the result predicted by Big Data probably may not be true at last. (MARCUS, DAVIS.
2014).This phenomenon happen frequently in many companies. Take Google Flu Trends as an
example, they predicted that the Disease Control and Protection Center was not able to control the
spread of flu quickly and effectively as time went on. Later, this conclusion was proved wrong.
Hence, it means that future prediction contains inconsistencies compared with reality.

First impressions are crucial. If a classroom is organized and appropriately arranged, then it is
apparent that the teacher possesses good management skills. A variety of things must be
considered when arranging the classroom. It must contain interesting materials appropriate to a
child s stage of intellectual development and not appear thrown together (Streng, 1978). All fire
exits, doorways, and main walkways must be kept open and free of clutter while built in
cupboards, drawers, closets, etc must be easily accessible as well. The desk arrangement, perhaps
the most important element, requires several considerations. Placing the students desks in groups
promotes peer tutoring and collaborative activities. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Stack trays and file organizers are effective in keeping papers organized and easily accessible
(Steele). It is also a good idea to go through papers and the next day s lessons before going home.
This will ensure that everything will get done and that your desk will not be as cluttered (Class). A
teacher s desk is crucial to classroom organization. That is where everything begins and where
necessary information is kept for future use. If unorganized it reflects poorly onto the teacher and
sets a bad example for the students.
Much like the classroom, supplies should be as equally arranged. If available, putting them in a
cupboard neatly arranged and labeled is the best method. When out of sight students as well as
the teacher are less likely to be distracted. To ensure no wasted time it is often a good idea to
have a helper pass supplies out when needed. This allows the teacher to give directions or begin
the activity without having to take time out to hand out the necessary items (Glover, 1994). It also
gives students responsibility and keeps the class involved with all the aspects of learning and their
classroom.

Being able to get the attention of an entire class is an essential and often difficult concept to

21. Essay about Johnson VS Madison
Johnson became the 36th President of the United States a few short hours after the assassination of
JFK. Known as one of the greatest political persuaders of the times, he sought the Greater Good of
the people. James Madison was the fourth president of the United States. Although he was
president, he is better known as the father of the Constitution . He led our fledging nation through
the difficult War of 1812. Lyndon Johnson s presidency was embroiled in foreign nations as was
Madison s. An advocator of the space program, Johnson and the leaders of Russia worked things out
between their two nations. During Johnson s presidency, Vietnam became his defining moment.

This memorial brought about the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the first of many Civil Right Acts. In
1965, Johnson signed the Voting Rights Act which did away with literacy voting tests. These
literacy tests prevented the African American citizen from voting. He went on to pass the Civil
Rights Act of 1968, the Equal Housing Act. Interestingly enough, Johnson appointed the first black
Supreme Court Justice, Thurgood Marshall. He even surrounded himself with colored advisors so
as to not appear as a hypocrite. All the Civil Rights Acts prompted Johnson to start his Great
Society ideas.
Slavery still existed during Madison s presidency so there was no great reform there. However, in
1811, Madison vetoed two bills of Congress that tried to grant land to religious congregations. His
reasons for the veto were the bills violated the non establishment clause of the first Amendment that
Madison helped write. Later that same year, Congress passed a Religious Freedom Act that
Madison signed into bill. He wrote many statements concerning the fact that church and state should
be separate and continued to live by those statements throughout his Presidency. Interestingly
enough, Madison supported the Native American populations living on American soil. In fact, he
ordered the protection of their lands from foreign invasions. In order for him to pass his Great
Society , Johnson had to seek Congressional resolution. He was very persuasive in his arguments.
After all, he was a former

22. Why Did America Lose The Revolutionary War
Let s first imagine if America lost the revolutionary war. First, the colony in North America
would have smaller territories with Mexico separated and Russia retaining Alaska. The Russians
would not sell any territories of theirs to the enemy, which is the British empire. Therefore,
Alaska would be owned by Russia. One of Britain s allies was Spain so, it is highly plausible that
Florida, California, Texas would all be owned by Spanish. Second, there would be less population
as there won t be mass emigration. Wanting more people to help a country grow would make
sense for a new country who just declared their independence. But, the British would be less eager
to do that. Britain would highly use the immigration policy like Australia s where they offer

accomplishments might not have happened if America were to lost the revolutionary war. For
one, America is very diverse which contributed a lot to the creative ideas that the country had.
Diversity means there s a lot of people from different backgrounds and culture and that made them

diversity. This is why America has contributed a lot of creative ideas for the world. America also
strengthened the representative democracy system, also known as indirect democracy, which

23. Executive Of Corporate Sustainability Consulting Group Essay
In response to the request of the Director of Corporate Sustainability Consulting Group, this memo
provides analysis and recommendations regarding Unilever s transition to sustainably sourced tea.
With dominant shares in the tea market, the transition to sustainably sourced tea will have first
mover advantage. By adopting the Rainforest Alliancecertification, LiptonTeacan expect to certify
all farms and plantations. To counteract low market response, contingency plans need to be
developed including price adjustments and targeted marketing. This transition is also an
opportunity to implement sustainability internally at Unilever and expand across other products.
Tea is the most consumed beverage after water in the world (Groosman, 2011, p. 1). Due to its
climatic requirements, the tea crop is produced only in tropical or sub tropical areas except for a
few varieties that can be produced in other regions (FAOUN, 2015, p.2). The main production areas
include Southeast Asia and Southeast Africa (FAOUN, 2015, p.4).
The global tea supply chain includes three parts: production, trading, and blending and packaging.
While Unilever is involved in all three parts, key companies in production include McLeod Russel
and Tata Tea (Groosman, 2011, p. 2). Approximately 60% of tea is consumed locally within
production areas and in developing countries as shown in Figure 3 (Groosman, 2011, p. 2). One key

Investigating the Determining Characteristics of Cations and Anions
Chem 111 Sec 560
Introduction: The purpose of this lab was to study the specific characteristics of cations and anions,
and ultimately to be able to identify an unknown substance based on our studies and tests using the
logic trees developed through the experiment. A logic tree is a graphical display of the findings
from this lab which, through a series of yes/no questions, elimination tests, will help us to identify
and unknown sample. This lab will result in 2 logic trees, one for identifying cations and the other,
anions.

Part 2: Anion Analysis: The experiment was performed on 4 anions: chloride (ClВ), sulfate
(SO42В), nitrate (NO3В), and carbonate (CO32В). A sample of each anion was prepared by
placing 10 drops of each anion solution into a centrifuge tube. The tubes were labeled accordingly.
The original color of the solution was recorded. The first test performed was an Anion Elimination

25. Australian Species Informative Essay
Informative Essay #2 Australian Species
By: Shadoe Lass
Charles Darwin stated that life was a game of survival of the fittest and species are constantly
evolving. A clear example of this phenomenon is the ecologically secluded continent of Australia.
Australia is home to many bizarre species, both native and introduced, that are found nowhere else
on Earth. The question arises that, in the one of a kind environment they live in, how did they
come to be fit as species to survive and thrive. These native and introduced species have adapted
to life through a series of biological adaptations as well as infiltration of the Australian food web.
The first line of adaptation to life in Australia is biological adaptations of diet and lifestyle. ... Show

Thus far, the advantages and adaptations discussed have been primarily of native Australian
species. However, a specific advantage evident in non native species is the way they insert
themselves into the food web. Introduced species disrupt the balance of the food web in a
variety of ways. One way is direct competition, directly increasing the pressure on other native
species by competing for the same food supply. This is when survival of the fittest really comes
into play. Survival of the fittest does limit both competing species, albeit there are times when
the sheer population overwhelms that evolutionary mechanism. ...So many rabbits loose in
Australia that even though about two million were shot or trapped each year, it didn t make a
dent in their population. Over time, the rabbits have caused untold damage... (Semmler, para.
2). Rabbits took over their ecosystem and managed to stay put as part of the food web because
of the size of their population. Introduced species can also wreak havoc by being defensive
predators themselves. They can bring toxins and poisons into the ecosystem that their prey and
predators alike can t combat. The [cane] toads are toxic, and native predators have no immunity to
the poison, (Semmler, para. 5). This makes them a keystone species (a species that has an impact
with a size that doesn t correlate to its population size). They affect large amounts of the ecosystem

Introduction to the volunteer
Diana Dickson (pseudonym) is a 48 year old female, born and raised in New Zealand who works
as a microbiologist in a large urban hospital in Auckland. She is happily married and has three
grown children two girls and one boy. She currently lives with her husband and her youngest
son. At age 20, Diana had a lump in her left ankle which was surgically removed . The lump was
misdiagnosed as spitz nevus when it was in fact malignant melanoma. According to literature,
melanoma is the most serious type of skin cancer which progresses quickly and can be life
threatening. If not diagnosed early or is misdiagnosed, the cancer can spread (metastasis) to other
parts of the body (Brown, Edwards, Seaton Buckley, 2015). Diana received the correct diagnosis
ten years later when she discovered another lump in her left groin, which made the doctors looked
at the biopsy slide of the previous lump on her ankle and confirmed that it originated from there. At
age 40, she had the lump and the lymph nodes surgically removed. Her lymph nodes were
removed as a precaution because her doctors thought it is possible for cancer cells to spread to the
lymph nodes without causing them to enlarge. The removal of the lymph nodes in her left groin
caused her to be diagnosed with lymphoedema in her left lower limb.

27. Counter Reform Of The Roman Catholic Church
Counter Reform of the Roman Catholic Church
The reading this week covered a pretty expansive timeline, starting in 1534 with the founding of the
Society of Jesus, the Jesuits, through the issuance of both The Doctrine of Papal Infallibility,
established in 1870, and The Doctrine of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, in 1950. Not
to leave out one of the most significant happenings in Christian History, the eighteen years of The
Council of Trent, we covered a span of more than 400 years of Church History. There were primarily
two things that stood out for me. One being the absence of any presentation or even mention of the
incredibly voice of the Church Magisterium condemning racial slavery throughout this time,
especially in perspective to the challenged authority of the Roman Pontiff and the doctrinal teaching
of papal infallibility and the second being the incredible amount of time that passed before the
Roman Catholic Church responded to the disputes and claims of the now excommunicated Martin
Luther and the growing Protestant movement.
From 1435 to 1890, there were numerous bulls and encyclicals from several popes, condemning
what they saw as a different slavery and the slave trade. (Panzer) It was apparent that the chattel
slavery being witnessed at this time was different from the slavery mentioned biblically and
practiced historically. Pope Paul III stated that this practice of enslaving an entire ethnic group of
people for no morally justifiable

September 26, 2003
CVEN 3313 Theoretical Fluid Mechanics
Module#1:
1 1. OBJECTIVE
The purpose of this module is to investigate hydrostatic forces on a plane surface under partial and
full submersion.
2 2. DESCRIPTION
The apparatus shown in Figure 1 will be used. It consists of a quarter circle block attached to a
cantilevered arm with a rectangular surface on the other end. The pivot point on the arm
corresponds to the center of radius of the block. With no water in the tank, and no weights on the
scale, the arm is horizontal. As weights are added one by one to the scales, water can be added to
the tank so that the hydrostatic force balances the weights and bring the arm back to horizontal.
3 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Note on your table when the plane surface is no longer fully submerged.
6 4. RESULTS ANALYSIS
1) Derive equations for the mass (Mtheoretical) that balances the hydrostatic force for the partially
submerged case. (i.e. h less than a) Mtheoretical = f(a, b, g, k, h, L, Оіw)
2) Derive equations for the mass (Mtheoretical) that balances the hydrostatic force for the fully
submerged case. (i.e. h greater than a) Mtheoretical = f(a, b, g, k, h, L, Оіw)
3) Compute Mtheoretical for each value of h you measured. Tabulate h, Mactual, Mtheoretical, and
other data you obtained.
4) Plot Mactual vs h and Mtheoretical vs h on the same graph (h on the x axis.) What does the
shape of the graph indicate about the hydrostatic force for each case (partially and fully submerged)?
5) Plot Mactual vs Mtheoretical .
7 5. DISCUSSION
1) Compare and discuss actual and theoretical results. Are they similar? If there is any discrepancy,
what are possible sources of error?
2) State qualitatively why an incremental change in mass (i.e. 50 g) for the fully submerged case
results in a different change in height, О”h, than the same incremental change in mass for the
29. partially submerged case.
3) In this experiment, only the forces on the plane surface were considered. Do the hydrostatic
forces on the curved surface of the quarter circle block affect the measurement? State why or why

Continuously refer to the statement of work or scope document help eliminate scope creep (non
controlled changes in a project). Use a predetermined process of change control and approval to
add to or redefine the scope of the project. 2.2 Observe Performance Once a control process is in
place, the project manager and stakeholders must then balance between being too aggressively
involved or too hands off. Task owners need a reasonable amount of time to complete their tasks.
They appreciate follow up but not constant observation. During the control phase, the project
manager must be fully and actively engaged. Human behavior plays a very large role in
controlling the project schedule as it relate to timely task completion. The project manager must
have a keen awareness of what is happening (or not happening) with the project and must be alert
to possible risks. 2.3 Follow Up, Follow Up, and Follow Up Routinely update the schedule. If a
participant is not available during a normally schedule s update session, arrangements are strongly
suggested to get the latest news in advance so that information can be shared with the rest of the
project team and stakeholders. A tried and true managementtheory still works management by

The Supreme Court also referred to the Voting Rights Act with respect to the outlawing of a
durational residential requirement in voting in the presidential and vice presidential elections.
Since all states fall under Federal Law that the state could not use this as a requirement. Since state
matters are different though they concluded that anything longer than 30 days would be too long.
The Supreme Court also looked at the restriction of travel since this residential law was a
punishment on anyone who had made a recent interstate move. Since the right to travel is a
fundamental right there should not be any laws that restrict citizen s rights to do so if there is no
compelling government interest. In this case, citizens were burdened by having their right to vote
revoked. It seems that the reason why the court case was not more controversial was because it did
not remove the states power to impose residential qualifications in other social projects. The only
restriction on to the states was that the state cannot have a residential requirement in order to allow

produced through the human service sector strengthen individuals, families, organizations, and
communities through the services provided in health and mental health care, education, social
welfare, criminal justice, and many other fields of practice (Manning, 2003). Where do ethics come

The Characterization of John Wilkes Booth(Revision)
When John Wilkes Booth assassinated President Lincoln at Ford s Theater in Washington on
April 14, 1865, people almost immediately deemed Lincoln a martyr. Although, no one even
began to question whether Booth was one. A martyr is said to be a person who is killed for
their beliefs, in the case of Booth, his hatred towards the president. Yet, with such a vague
definition, martyr becomes very subjective. Aren t those who are promised Paradise and eternal
worship if they strap bombs to their chests considered martyrs too? Of course not! Not in the eyes
of Americans at least. More often than not, martyrs are people who are willing to die for the cause
in hopes that it will bring change. However, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the core, what really infuriated Booth was his conviction that America was now destined to
be ruled by a dictator, Lincoln, who would bring about a horrible racial reversal. Booth was not
exactly subtle in his hatred for black people and his favoritism for slavery. Writing in his journal,
Booth complains that, this country was formed for the white not the black man (23) and that
slavery was one of the greatest blessings that God ever bestowed upon a favored nation (23). In
making this comment, Booth furthermore explains his uncompromising pursuit for Lincoln s
head. After Lincoln s reelection in 1864, the genesis of Booth s plot came to be. Two days after
the surrender of the Confederate Army, led by General Robert E. Lee, Lincoln delivered a
speech on the White House balcony. In his speech, Lincoln outlined some of his ideas for
reconstruction as well as his wish to extend franchisement to African Americans. Booth stood in
the audience for the speech, and this notion seems to have furthermore fueled the flames. He
stated, That means nigger citizenship. Now, by God, I ll put him through. That is the last speech
he will ever make (30). Three days later, Booth made good on his promise, driven by what he saw
as a patriotic and religious duty to save his nation. Whereas some are convinced that Booth was a

Have you ever wondered what it s like to be a cobra? From what I ve found out, cobras live a
very interesting life, from how they react to predators and prey, to the different types of cobras out
in the world. Cobras have the scientific name of Naja, which means little sister in Greenlandic.
Another fascinating fact, all though it is very sad, is that cobras are threatened by deforestation,
forest fragmentation, and illegal wildlife trade. How cobras live and survive is mainly based upon
their behavior, environment, and their different types of species.
The behavior of cobras can vary depending on the different types of species. A cobra mainly eats
birds, small mammals, lizards, eggs, carrion (decaying flesh of dead animals), and other snakes.
A cobra possesses a types of venom that is consisted of zootoxins that can blind or kill a prey or
threat. Another fact is that cobras are active mainly during the day depending on where they live.
Snakes in general need warm weather conditions to be able to live, but if the temperature is too

The British occupation of Egypt began to make Egyptians question how much control of Egypt

Cartoon Studio. The company eventually changed its name to the current Walt Disney Company in

navigating community living, which has resulted in a huge increase in the arrest rate of offenders
with mental illness, as well as increased rates of homelessness (Hartwell, 2004). Markowitz (2006)
contributes deinstitutionalization to increased homelessness, crime, and arrest rates. Additionally,
some studies suggest jails and prisons have replaced the psychiatric hospitals as a social control of
the mentally ill which is often referred to as, the criminalization of mental illness (Markowitz,
2006, p. 49).
Limited Affordable Housing A lack of affordable housing, as well as limited numbers of housing
assistance programs have both contributed to the current housing crisis experienced across the
United Sates and to homelessness. Home

43. Why Companies Should Have Patents On Their Medications And...
This paper will focus on the processes a pharmaceutical must take to bring a new medication to the
market. It will answer the questions as to why companies should have patents on their medications
and how a pharmaceutical company can recover the costs connected with failed drugs. It will look
at one company that was both effective and unsuccessful in its endeavor to bring a new drug to
market and explain what lead to their prosperity/disappointment.
Of all the innovation businesses in industry, the pharmaceutical industry acquires the biggest profits;
in 2013 five of the pharmaceutical giants made net revenue of more than 20%. At the forefront was
the United States pharmaceutical mammoth Pfizer, and in general the United States ... Show more

(Drug, 2016) America has one of the most stringent pharmaceutical systems in the world that is
closely monitored by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Center for Drug Evaluation and
Research (CDER). The job of CDER is to evaluate each and every new drug (prescription and
nonprescription) before it is approved for market. In order to pass this evaluation in order to bring
a new medication to the market a pharmaceutical company must first complete a sequence of
events. The FDA requires the following steps to be taken: Preclinical Testing, Investigational New
Drug Application, 3 Phases of Clinical Trials; New Drug Application, Phase IV Studies. (Drug,
2016) However, it should be noted that depending on the need of the drug, Pharmaceutical
Companies when approved by the FDA might take other routes to expedite the process.
Preclinical Testing First the pharmaceutical company must conduct a series of preclinical tests
prior to the drug being administered to a human being. During this testing, both laboratory and
animal studies must be accomplished to prove the biological effects of the drug on the targeted
disease. This may take an average of 3 ВЅ years to complete.
Investigational New Drug Application The pharmaceutical company then files an Investigational
New Drug Application with the FDA in order to request to begin testing on humans. Included with

44. GPA Class Rank
Should one bad test day that somebody had years ago determine their entire future? Test scores,
GPA, and class rank matter more than ever before, and have a massive impact on our chances of
getting into the school or job that is desired. These numbers should not define people for a
multitude of reasons. The standardized teststhat are required of all students is not an accurate
reflection on that student s ability to succeed in an actual working environment, hazardous health
effects, and the fact that students are haunted by a huge pressure defined by their family and
society that they must get a certain class rank or their entire future is out the window. New tests
should be implemented that give an accurate reflection of student s abilities... Show more content on

Through the years of school students go through many teachers which are all very different in their
teaching methods and how they grade. Some teachers offer a lot of opportunities to significantly
boost a student s grade while others are very strict about how they grade, for example, Student A is
the exact same as Student B, but one of them has a significantly higher GPA because they won the
teacher lottery. Until last year a lot of the computer in Plano ISD were probably older than the
students using them, this brings up another major inequality. America is a very diverse country in
many ways, one of these is income inequality. Many poorer communities around the country are
severely under equipped in terms of courses available, technology used by students, and student to
teacher ratio. Students that grow up in these communities are already at a massive disadvantage
when it comes to educational opportunities and keeping this same system in place will only hold
back these students that had the misfortune of attending and underfunded

45. Community Is The Goal Oriented Community
A community is an interacting group of various species and abiotic things that live within the same
location. Each community is different due to being comprised of unique organisms and inanimate
objects. The basic unit of community relies on survival. As stated by de Waal, the primate
community is a prime example which displays how we perform innate behaviors to ensure our
survival. The next level of community is the goal oriented community. Goal oriented communities
strive to bring about change in their communities whether it be for better or worse. The goal
oriented community can be allotted into different categories. One type of an ambitious community
is that of associations as described by Tocqueville. The other goal oriented community is that of the
revolutionary community. This community attempts to raise awareness about injustice found in a
community and urges that members of the community fight to make injustice cease to exist. The
final stage of community ends with the community that cares for the environment as a whole. Not
only does it care for the living thingsthat reside in the community, but it appreciates the nonliving
things that are found in the community as well. The nature loving community recognizes that
everything within the community is necessary to have and to care for. Each of these communities
start with having the need for survival but become more complex until they are able to incorporate
love in their communities. The foundation for most

46. Road Is All
Willa Cather once said, The end is nothing, the road is all. I think this quote means that the journey
is all that matters, not the destination. I strongly agree with this opinion. It brings people closer
together, creates wonderful memories, and also creates a strong bond between you and other
people. Though the destination is what everyone really wants, the journey and the company are just
as important as well. Once you get to the end, what happens next? It is just simply the end. People
could cherish the moments that the road in the destination gives you.
To me this quote means that the road is all because it brings people closer together. When I lived
in California, my family and I went on a road trip to Oklahoma, Georgia, North Carolina, and
Minnesota to visit family members. The travel was actually really fun. The quote relates to this
situation because the journey to all four states were what brought us together and created fun.
Even though all of us were dying to finally get to our destination; especially because we were
traveling by car, we soon realized that it wasn t so bad after all. We saw lots of different things,
talked more to each other, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On our way to Georgia, we had gotten stopped by a policeman. Even though not all memories of
our journey is good but it still builds memory that we will all soon laugh at later in life. Even
though it was a serious matter, after the cop let us go, my family actually made some jokes about
it. These parts of the journey are what makes it adventurous and exciting. This time, we spent
about 15 hours in the car together. Yet, surprisingly, we all had a great time again. We all laughed,
sung songs, and took silly pictures of each other sleeping. The journey to Georgia was another
success. Without realizing it at all, we were all socializing more with each other than we usually do

47. Buddhism And Its Views On Buddhism
Buddhism is one of the major religions of the world; it was founded in India and is based on the
teachings of Siddhartha Gautama, Buddha, or the Enlightened One/Awakened One. Buddhism is
non theistic and is not based on any concept of a supreme or one ruling God. A Buddhist approach
is a naturalistic one and the sole purpose of the followers is to end or reduce suffering (dukkha)
and attain a state of liberation or enlightenment and the freedom from the cycle of death and rebirth
(Nirvana). Buddhist are their own Buddha and the answers of the world will not end their suffering
but within themselves they are capable of reaching nirvana. Buddhismhas two major points of view
that differ in their telling of Buddha and claim to be the correct story.1 Theravadin is considered
the more conservative view and Mahayanais considered the more creative view, these two views
tell the story of Buddha and the followers believe their version is the correct version. These
differing views make up the religion of Buddhism and the followers carry out the word of their
branch. The view of Theravadin Buddhism is the more conservative view and it follows more
firmly the original teachings of Buddha it is often referred to as the path of the elders . 1
Theravadin Buddhists believe Buddha is an inspirer and supreme teacher not a God but the very
highest human. Buddha believed that the human experience included great suffering, nothing is
permanent and nothing in this world should be desired.

48. Distracted Driving Is One Of The Leading Cause Of Death Essay
Distracted driving is one of the leading causes of death. Every year, about 421,000 people are
injured in crashes that have involved a driver who was distracted in some way, (Hopkins). Even
though this is true, people who use a cell phone while driving are not punished as harshly as
drunk drivers. A DUI, driving while intoxicated, is a misdemeanor and could result in a few
months in jail, as well as a fine. The punishments for a DUI get more severe each time someone
is charged. While, the punishment for texting and driving are only monetary fines. So, why is
texting and driving considered a less punishable offense? A major reason is because of the length
of time both have been a problem. The first law against drinking and driving was in 1910 and cell
phones weren t popular until 80 years after in the 1990s. Because of the long time period of drunk
drivingbeing a problem, there is more attention towards the crime. There also wasn t a long
enough time to get the same tangible statistics to compare using a phone to drinking and driving.
However, now, cell phones have been around for years and the awareness of using them while
driving is high but the awareness of the actual danger is low. People who text while driving should
face harsher punishments because texting while driving is just as dangerous as driving intoxicated;
this is evident through the number of car crashes and fatalities caused by this issue every year,
emotional effects texting has on a driver, and the

49. The Debate Of Nature Vs Nurture
The debate of nature vs nurture is long standing in the world of Psychology. In this essay we shall
look at the different perspectives and theories from the behaviourist and biological approaches and
the objective of this assignment is to discuss the importance of attachment in human development.
To do this we can make reference to the case of Genie who suffered severe neglect as a child.
Behaviourism was first introduced by John Watson who opposed the naturists and took the view
that the mind is there to be manipulated through conditioning methods and so attachments are
learned. However there are theories and studies which counter the argument. The evolutionary
theory of attachment was developed by John Bowlbya psychoanalyst. Bowlby s theories lay in the
nature side of the debate as he believes all actions are innate and we are pre programmed to form
our attachments After presenting all the evidence and theories can any conclusions be drawn about
forming attachments which are so critical for our human development.
The case of Genie drew scientists and psychologists from around the world. Genie had been
discovered at the age of 13 after having endured terrible suffering by her father since early
childhood having been chained to a potty in her room and kept in complete isolation. There was
little communication between Genie and her family, when she was to make noise her father would
beat her and when he did communicate with her he chose to growl and bark like a dog. After

50. Autism Spectrum Disorder and its Characteristics Essay
In 2000, one in every one hundred and fifty children was diagnosed with autism spectrum
disorder. Since then, there has been a drastic increase of the incidence of this disorder. In 2013,
according to the Centers for Disease Control, autism spectrum disorder occurs in one out of eighty
eight children. (CDC, 2013) That is a significant increase over a relatively short period of time.
With such an increase, it is important to learn what autismspectrum disorder is and what might
cause it.
Autism spectrum disorder is the term used for a group of disorders in brain development. It is a
complex disorder and symptoms usually appear before the child is age five. It is called a spectrum
disorder because each person is affected differently ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first is a pattern of irregular language development. Although, most people with autism do
develop language skills, they are generally not at a level of a typically developing person and the
progress of their language development is usually slow and irregular. An example of the
irregular pattern of speech development seen in autism is Echolalia. Some estimates say that
85% of those with autism spectrum disorder who are verbal with show Echolalia in some form.
(Teach Me to Talk, 2008) There are two types of echolalia. Immediate echolalia and delayed
echolalia. Immediate echolalia occurs when the child echoes the words immediately after
another says them. Delayed echolalia is when a child repeats the words or phrases long after
they were originally said. This can occur days, weeks, or even months later. Another example of
irregular speech development is prosody. Webster dictionary defines prosody as the rhythm and
pattern of the sounds of language. Some people with autism may know the correct vocabulary to
use but are unable to use a correct tone of voice. Not only are they unable to use prosody, but they
are not able to detect its use others. (Rudy, 2010) This can make them appear emotionally distant, or
uninterested. An example of this is; a child, who has autism spectrum disorder, is talking

Part A: Diffusion on a liquid in a liquid.
I did an experiment with three different glasses of tap water from the faucet. All three cups
measured the same which happened to be 13 cm from the top of the cup to the bottom of the
cup. I let the water settle, and sit for about an hour so the temperature was the same for all three
cups. I then placed one drop of food coloring into the first glass and waited for the coloring to
reach the bottom. I calculated 93 seconds. I then went to the second glass and duplicated the
experiment in the same exact manner and counted 107 seconds. Finally I went to third glass, did
the same as before and counted for 103 seconds. To figure the rate of diffusionyou must divide the

While it is very surprising that answering a few multiple choice questions can reveal things

54. Essay about Taking a Closer Look at Renal Failure
Renal Failure is a common condition that could also be described as Acute renal failure (ARF) or
Chronic renal failure(CRF), both conditions occur when there is a loss of kidney function. Kidney
disease or renal failure is the ninth leading cause of death in the United States (Pradeep ,2014).
Specifically, acute renal failureis characterized by the kidneys sudden inability to filter blood,
excrete wastes, concentrate urine, preserve electrolytes, and sustain fluid balance which leads to
many problems in the human body. Acute renal failure alone is a frequent clinical problem,
especially in the intensive care unit, where according to Clin (2004), is associated with mortality of
between 50% and 80% (p5). As for the pathophysiology... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
D, Jr.). Postrenal disorders are those that initiate in the urinary tract from the nephrons of the
kidney. These types of kidney disorders can involve the renal pelvis, the ureters or the bladder and
urethra.
If a patient s signs and symptoms suggest that he or she has acute renal failure the primary
caregiver might suggest tests and procedures verify the diagnosis. Some of those tests include
urine output measurements which would help the physician determine the cause of the kidney
failure. Another test that could be taken is a urinalysis which may show abnormalities that
suggest kidney failure. Having a blood test that shows rising levels of urea and creatinine which
are also measured to kidney function. Different imaging tests such as ultrasound or
computerized tomography (CT) may be used to help get a clearer image of your kidneys and see
any abnormalities. Lastly your physician might suggest a kidney biopsy to remove a small
sample of kidney tissue for lab testing. In chronic kidney disease there are 5 different stages.
Patients in stages 1 through 3 are primarily seen by their physician while patients with stage 4
CKD will be treated at the Nephrology clinic until the illness progresses to stage 5. At stage 5 of
renal failure the patient starts to receive dialysis. Patients that are in Stages 1 and 2 have few
symptoms. Often early stages of renal failure are identified by testing for abnormally high levels of
creatinine or urea in the

American Society on the Change during the Post World War Years
After World War II, Americans experienced a time of rapid social change. American soldiers
were discharged and returned home from the battlefields, hoping to find work and to get on with
their lives. Marriage rate increased dramatically after the war. North American population
experienced what is known as the Baby boom an 18 year period of rapid population growth from
1946 to 1964. During this period, many children were born than in the same period before or after.
During the post war years, the United States embarked on one of its greatest periods of economic
expansion. Many Americans had enjoyed economic prosperity. However, the United States has

These includes changes in social levels over time, death rates, economic conditions and laws the no
fault divorce laws, the reduction in fertility and the legalization of abortion increased the divorce
rates in the 1980s. However, scholars believe that the single most important social change which
made divorce possible was the increase in the employment of women and the economic
independence that employment provided. For nearly all decades, the lifetime probability of
divorce for women of all ages has been increasing. For women born in 1920, the likelihood of
divorce by age 55 was 27 percent. This same level of divorce was reached at a much younger age
(age 30) for women born in 1950. At least 40 percent of young adult women are likely to divorce.
16 percent are likely to divorce twice if current divorce rates continue. In Document 1, in the
1990s and 2000s, divorce rates appear to decline slightly. In the meantime, suburban population
was growing and shifting during the post war years. Baby boomers brought much prosperity as
they grew up and entered the work force. With so many people working and making a better
living, growing families needed more room. Millions of Americans were leaving the cities for the
suburbs. The growth of the suburbs after 1945 was due mainly to the large number of new homes
financed by the G1 Bill which gave them low interest rate mortgages to purchase new homes. Tax
deductions also made the move from urban areas to the suburbs
