Remote Faciliation Workshop with Women in Agile Singapore

Notes de l'éditeur

  1. If there is one thing you can count on in remote meetings – things will always take longer than planned. People will be late, there will be network issues, they will forget to mute/unmute. They’ll have bandwidth issues and As a facilitator you will find yourself repeating instructtions multiple times! This is pretty normal, just plan for ti!
  2. I covered 4 tips for remote facilitation. Now it’s your turn. Teach backs! Once I am done explaining, you will receive an invitation from ZOOM to join a breakout room. You will be paired at random with another participant. Very important, if you don’t get a partner in 20 sec – come back to the main room!
  3. Thank you Dana, Good morning and good evening to all you rocking
  4. A framework for instructional design. A simple 4 step
  5. A framework for instructional design. A simple 4 step c1 - Connect learners to learners and learners to the topic C2 - Teach content in small chunks of 10-15 minutes. Follow each segment with a 1-2mins multisensory review C3 – Have learners do an active skills or active review of content, C4 – give learners time to Summarize, evaluate and celebrate what they have learned.
  6. I have added the link in Zoom chat please use the Room Name Conceptsandbeyond and enter your name. You have 5 mins to colI’ll mind the time, Show the graph from Socrative Quiz and highlight the results.
  7. Please take a plain sheet of paper and a writing device pencil, pen or sharpie. Create 6 cells make a trifold of just draw a a 2X3 grid
  8. On the first cell write Movement Trumps Sitting
  9. Movement pumps oxygen into the brain making it easier to stay alert, pay attention and learn. Even little movements like yawning, stretching pumps oxygen which makes you feel better. You already experienced fast pass, but it could be as simple as doing a Fist of five or thumbs voting. Now you have at least three tools to use for this learning principle We just a did a physical thumbs up and up down, you can do the same in zoom chat.
  10. On the 2nd cell write Talking Trumps listening,
  11. Listening is passive, your mind is wandering. As a trainer, there is no indication if the learning has stuck. When learners talk about what they are learning, they begin to deepen their understanding of the content being learned. The challenge for presenters is to encourage learners to talk to each other about the topic without taking too much time. You already experienced Teach Back, now lets try another technique when you talk after you learnt something, when you repeat or share with someone, you reinforce what you have learnt, clear any confusions and add your own experience and thus making it yours
  12. On the3rd cell write Writing Trumps reading,
  13. Writing is a powerful way of reinforcing content, it engages our kinesthetic, spatial, visual, sensorial memory. Thus help us move content / facts to our long term memory. On a piece of paper, write down one idea that resonated with you so far you. take one minute
  14. TYPE THE QUESTION IN THE ZOOM CHAT - Which Principle resonated with you so far 30 SECONDS. PLESE CLICK ENTER AFTER MY AUDIO SIGNAL.
  15. Now in the 4th cell write Shorter trumps longer
  16. Ever wonder Why TED talk are 18mins Short attention span, (devices, ad campaigns on tv) memory capacity limited, seven numbers are easy to remember, chunking. We presented the content in small chunks of 4-5 minutes followed by an activity to keep all of us engaged.
  17. On the 5th cell write Images Trumps Words,
  18. 5 mins - Tie back to pictures around them,
  19. On the last cell write Different Trumps Same
  20. Human brain is hard wired to notice Novelty meaning something that’s new, so novelty can include senses like auditory, kinesthetic, visual, sounds those kinds of things Contrast – changes in the learning environment or what is expected like instead of starting with Presenter’s intro we started out with an activity. Meaning – something that is relevant to you, like the webinar’s topic Emotion – Molecular biologist calls emotions as brain’s sticky notes Dana - There is a part of our brain that was design to scan the environment for any signs of changes in the environment, potential danger. In the absence of observable signs of change, the brain allows us to go into an auto-pilot mode to save energy. We are on auto-pilot - Driving from home to work, or walking the same path from park to home, when you come to classes, environment is the same and class setup is the same, so you don't learn. This principle applies to your slides, your content, and the room set up as well. This principles also reminds us that we all have different learning preferences. When you design your class with different techniques, catering to Visual, Auditory and Kinesthetic learners, you are maximizing its effectiveness.
  21. Breakout rooms. You’ll go back to you the breakout room and each participant will teach about 1 trump each. As we have more than 6 participant in each room, please repeat after 6. Please be mindful of the the time each gets 30 seconds and ensure everyone gets a chance to teach back.
