They Live By Night Essay
Genres are malleable; though they have the same key characteristics, genres change with the time
and setting. A movie can be part of more than one genre. The lines separating one genre from
another are not concrete and taking bits and pieces of genres can create a well respected movie. As
society changes, a genrechanges with it. One can observe what was once important to society and
what interested society using the genres that were popular at a specific point in history. The
audience changes as time goes on and it is the audience that influences filmmakers. Films need to
stay with the times in order to maintain popularity. This paper will explore the changes within the
crime genre, more specifically, the couple on the run genre using... Show more content on

It is a classical film, though it was made during the post classical years in Hollywood, because it
catered to the audience who was being introduced to these genres for the first time. Before the
classical period, there were broadly generic films and they were still working out kinks in order
to refine what would become the genres. They Live By Night uses the unique film noir style
that was common during the 40s and 50s. Film noirs are black and white melodramas that use
shadows to hide key details and emphasize the cynical attitudes of the time. It was filmed and
released after WWII, during the Cold War which influenced the cultures and films at the time.
Badlands, directed by Terrence Malick, was made in 1973 when the Cold War was still ongoing,
the Vietnam War was coming to a close, and the Watergate Scandal had recently been discovered.
The general public did not trust the government at this time and Malick played with this fact

When I Decide To Be The Only Girl Essay
Deciding to be the only girl on the wrestling team and the failures I experienced therein, have
made me a stronger person today. The very nature of my being is adventurous and outgoing and I
love situations that present a challenge. I always try to keep an open mind and have always aimed
to follow my own /opinions even when others may not agree. Throughout my high schoolyears,
there has never been a girl on the wrestlingteam. Something inside me my junior year drove me
to do it; I was compelled to be the first female on the team, it had become my new personal [
/challenge.] I shared my plans with countless people. Many of them told me they could not see
me as a wrestler, I am too pretty to wrestle, or wrestling is a sport for boys onlys. Others told me I
should go for it, yet I could tell from their facial expressions that they did not think I would actually
follow through with joining.
As the only girl on the wrestling team, it was challenging at first. The guys were stronger than me,
they were weary to touch me, afraid that they would hurt me. However, one thing they did that I
greatly appreciated was that never excluded me, even if they were uncomfortable they still treated
me as a member of their team. I attended practice every day of ... Show more content on

rival. I became stronger and more sure of myself, I no longer cared what people thought. In my final
match it all finally came together, I won; all of my hard work and dedication had finally paid off. I
felt like I was at the top of the world. I proved to myself that if I truly put my mind to something, I

The Capstone Project At Hand Essay
Introduction
It is important to understand that a capstone project has to deal with a specific company or field of
business. The capstone project at hand mainly covers the motor industry and business mainly
concentrating on the Ford Motor Company which is a well known producer and marketer of
automotive with two main brands Lincoln Luxury Cars and Ford Brand Automotive. Recently, the
Ford Motor Company has been experiencing challenges. The only valuable approach of finding a
permanent solution for any economic or social problems is going into a detailed definition of the
problem, easy through thorough data collection and analysis so as to be able to list the best
solutions for the problem. After this, a selection the best and feasible solution is done which is
followed by an implementation procedure to make the investment on research worth. Simply, this is
what is termed as a capstone project and the goal of the one at hand is finding a solution to the
problems facing Ford Motor Company. The Ford Company has been producing faulty vehicles
using production techniques that are not friendly to the sustainability of the environment. This can
affect the business I the near future. Not positively but very negatively. The fact that the company

Hurricane Harvey
This event was a major catastrophe mostly due to its destructive economic damage on the Gulf
Coast that exceeded even Hurricane Katrina in 2005. The death toll of approximately 82 people
attributable to Harvey is a very small portion compared to Katrina s, but the cost in damages is
unrivaled. Current estimates for Harvey are at $180 billion compared to Katrina s $108 billion
(Amadeo, 2017). This makes Harvey the costliest natural event to ever hit the United States and
justifies it as more than just a disaster or a hazard.
The resiliency of the impacted community can be improved by creating more areas for flood
waters to be contained. Urban planners can assess the areas of Houston that were hit by Harvey or
that are most vulnerable to flood damage and designate these areas as parks for diverting flood
waters rather than rebuilding them. City officials can also limit new infrastructure development in

How Did Jacob Riis Impact Society
Jacob Riis was a journalist who made a big impact on society during the progressive era.
He managed to open the eyes of the wealthy and showed them the brutal conditions of the poor in
New York City during the progressive era. All the way from the time he was very young, he was
helping people in need. His background from where he grew up definitely impacted his motives
behind his causes. Jacob Riis altered society in a big way during the early 1900s.
Motivation
Riis was inspired by his past experiences and his personal, moral beliefs. Riis

To start a dirt bike up you will need to know how to use the kickstarter and when to use the

balancing point for different kinds of riding. For example some times you might need to stand up,
sit down or lean side to side. If you are stuck in mud you might need to shift your weight around to

Tim Hortons Case Study
The business I have chosen to examine is Tim Hortons. Tim Hortons CafГ© and Bookshop or
Tim Hortons Inc. is a Canadian based fast food restaurant which is multinational in its operation.
The company was founded by Tim Horton, Jeffrey Ritumalta Horton and Ron Joyce fifty three
(53) years ago on May 17, 1964. With its headquarters in Oakville, Ontario, it is a household name
to many Canadians and very well known for its coffeeand donuts. Its colloquial name is Timmy s
or Tim s . As of December 31st, Tim Hortonshad a total of 4,613 restaurants in nine countries which
include Ireland, Canada, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, United States, and so on. The
company has grown from a single location in Hamilton, Ontario to thousands across the country and
a substantial number in the United States of America. In Canada, there are 3,802 Tim Hortons
restaurants, a number which is much higher than that of McDonalds (1,450). Burger King agreed to
purchase Tim Hortons for US$11.4 billion on August 26,2014. Being in the Restaurant industry, Tim
Hortons has major competitors such as McDonalds, Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, and so on.

Tim Hortons two main products offered to customers: Tim Hortons, which is a household name to
most Canadians, is very well known for two of its main products: coffee and donuts. Over the
years, the company has made a substantial amount of profit from its sale of the two products.
A Deeper look into Tim Hortons coffee: The Value Package (Functions, Features and Benefits) The
value package of Tim Hortons coffee is very high. It serves its functions which include keeping the
consumer alert (due to a decent amount of caffeine), satisfying or quenching thirst, and so many
others. The features of the coffee are quite original. 100% Arabica coffee is used and any toppings
have features such as milk, cream, sugar, etc.
The company has many benefits which other restaurants that produce coffee do not. Tim Hortons
coffee is a lighter roast than most coffee shops; it tends to have a bit less caffeine than other
major coffee restaurants. This is definitely beneficial since the coffee sizes at Tim Hortons are
quite large (there is even an extra large coffee) and one

History Of St. Albans Sanatorium
St. Albans Sanatorium has a beautiful Sphinx like presence that literally vibrates with
remarkable energy. She will often call out to certain people, pulling them into her arms and into
her service. I know, because she chose me to help save her and I am not alone. When I first came
to St. Albans I was working with merchandising. At that time I was afraid of the dark hallways
and empty rooms of the old asylum. I quickly overcame my fear of the place and it was replaced
by a love of the building and what it had meant for so many who had come before me. We are its
caretakers. Those of us, both paid and volunteer who strive to keep the doors open to a place
worth saving, a place that was once the caretaker to so many within its care. Those of us who are
now here carry on the vision of people like Don Hanauer, former Director of Operations for St.
Albans. He saw the beauty in this building and had a vision of restoring it to its former glory. As
outlined in the final chapter of this book, we have worked on a number of special events
developed to generate funding for the structure s restoration. At some point, Don s vision for St.
Albans became mine. After Don left I knew that I would need to lead the effort to take the
sanatorium from disrepair back into wholeness. The beauty and Spirit of this historic landmark now
draws paranormal investigators from all over America and beyond, to walk the hallways with the
intent of encountering its remaining residents. No one, paranormal

I Am A Professional Engineer
It is not easy to become a successful, professional engineer. A professional engineer requires high
responsibility, especially problem based solving skills to cope with workplace environment and
compete with others. Problem based learning (PBL) is really important to reflect the professional
practice of engineers. There have been several definitions of PBL. According to Lizinger, Lattuca,
Hadgraft and Newstetter (2011, p.134), PBL is the approach that allows learners to practice
finding solutions throughout their academy. Learners in a PBL process have to reflect, identify and
learn about the complex problem and the cycle is repeated until learners find a solution that they
can do both in writing and presentation. There are some basics of PBL such as decision making,
communication, collaboration, self regulation, self motivation and flexibility. These basics are the
base for every engineerto become a successful professional practicing engineer.
Decision making ability helps engineers to learn deeply from the problems and have ability to
analyse and get the detail of the problems before planning to solve them. Deep learners focus on the
problem carefully and get all information about it. Lizinger, Lattuca, Hadgraft and Newstetter
(2011, p.126) state that the experiences of the effective learning from deep learning leads learners
to understand key words and general principle to develop both technic and profession. Not only
deep learning, decision making ability improves

Pros And Cons Of Indians
The establishment of the Virginia colony was a rough, and tough one. For many years after the first
settlement the establishment lacked advancement and was a great failure to it s original
expectations. Despite the claim that the colonial experience between two cultures results in the
destruction of the inferior culture, the superior English could have easily been wiped out had the
inferior Indians let them stare to death. Yet, because of this helping hand, the saved Europeans, with
more superior economics, technology, and lustful desires in mind seized the land right under the
Indians. Were the Indians fated to be destroyed based on the decisions and the circumstances of
both parties, and why? The Indians were unfortunate collateral damage to their own helping hand,
boosting the likelihood of their destruction and the growing greed and selfishness of the Whites.
With many cultural differences, morals, and action the Indians were not exactly up to par with the
European s current way of life. Bringing lustful desires of profit, and imposing intentions to the
New World the Europeans were armed with much more powerful weaponry, bigger and better ships,
and ambition for greater things. A word to describe the dominating whites, would be opportunists .

White collar crime costs Americans tax payers an estimated $300 billion annually (White collar

Examples Of An Interview With Rick Weintraub
I chose to interview Richard Weintraub for my leader interview. Rick has held many positions of
leadership in his life including, President of Weintraub and Associates, President of the Texas
Rangers Season Ticket Advisory Board, Serving in the United States Air Force, Citizens
Environment Committee Member, and serving as Precinct Chairman Executive Committee
Member. Whilst interviewing Rick I gained numerous nuggets of wisdom concerning leadership. He
is someone who is looked up to in his field and has dealt with many issues concerning leadership.
Rick is a great example of what a servant leader is and throughout his many years in leadership
had much insight to share with me. In many of his leadership roles there was no monetary gains
to be had. While he was serving as the president of the season ticket advisory board, he was
influential in many changes and lead with integrity. When I asked him about servant leadership
he said that leading with a servant s attitude is the most effective way that a leader can lead. He
said that a commitment to servant leadership pays off in the long run even when immediate
impact can not be seen. When asked if he thought leadership developed with experience, Rick had
this to say, Yes, because the person realizes that he or she has the ability to influence behavior,
which is really what leadership is. He also said that when you mature in leadership you begin to

How Did Truett Build A Fried Chicken Sandwich
I.As a young boy, Truett Cathy watched his mother cook fried chicken for boarders they took in
after his father died. a.Even then Truett was already thinking as an entrepreneur to help his
family make money. i.He would go in to Atlanta and purchase six packs of Coca Cola, bring
them back to his home town of Hapeville and sell them for five cents a piece. This would in turn
make him a profit of five cents on every six bottles he sold. II.In 1946, a then 25 year old Truett
Cathy and his younger brother Ben opened a restaurant called the Dwarf House , in their home
town of Hapeville, Georgia. III.Truett started experimenting with different ways to cook and
serve chicken quickly and economically. He started serving a fried chicken breast fillet on a bun
to keep customers from getting grease on their fingers. He then went on to perfect the chicken
sandwich by experimenting with different cooking methods, seasonings and spices. When he
finally felt it was right he had ended up using a special blend of seasonings and cooking the
chicken in a pressure cooker with peanut oil, then adding a pickle to the finished sandwich. This

Analysis Of The Article Growing More Food With Less...
Introduction:
This essay is a review of the article Growing More Food with Less Water , written by Sandra
Postel. According the article, our global freshwater sources, including underground aquifers and
rivers are stressed beyond their ability to provide freshwater. Agriculture redesign is necessary with
the two primary goals being to cut water demands of mainstream agriculture and bring low cost
irrigation to poor farmers. Typical irrigation, crop furrow flooding is a main cause of wasted and
polluted water. This article discusses alternatives to typical irrigation. These alternatives have been
tested onsite by farers and surveyed.
Article Summary:
Severe water scarcity could be imminent in the not so distant future. Flooding crop furrows has
been an inexpensive irrigation method for over six thousand years. Though traditional, it is very
wasteful. An excessive amount of the water evaporates into he air, or soaks into the ground while
the plants receive very little. The excess water drains into rivers and underground aquifers. The
water running from the furrows is polluted with fertilizers. The constant use of flooding creates
erosion, waterlogging and salinization of the soil. 40 percent of the world s food grows on irrigated
soil.
There are multiple reasons why the practice of flooding crop furrows continues. The practice of
flooding crop furrows produces two to three harvests per year with a higher crop yield. Sprinklers
and drop system technology have been much

Blank Verses in Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare Essay
Epic, Passionate and Poetic. Romeo and Juliet is written in blank verse. This simply means
unrhymed iambic pentameter. For example, Two households, both alike in dignity In fair Verona,
where we lay our scene, From ancient grudge break to new mutiny, Where civil blood makes
civil hands unclean. From forth the fatal loins of these two foes A pair of star crossed lovers take
their life. It may seem melodramatic , but it s perfect for the play. Shakespeare makes it work by

Shakespeare really stresses in all these scenes the ease in which messages can go wrong
(Huntley). When Romeo finds out about Juliet s death he believes he has all the facts. He
suddenly makes the decision to kill himself, aided by poison. Romeos best speech is perhaps the
one he delivers in the tomb; with it he gives dignity, meaning, and finality to the one act he plans
and executes (Huntley). The speech and characters of the play have been depicted all
throughout music, literature, dance, and theater. There s a certain musical flow and intense
alternation of mood that enliven the speech. Mercutio is a big part of this. When Romeo needs
guidance, Mercutio is there quickly giving him advice worth hearing. In fact, some believe the
wisest words in the entire play are said by him. Why, is not this better now than groaning for
love? Now art though sociable, now art thou Romeo; Now art thou what thou art, by art as well
as by nature. These words are also said to be the most ironic. Romeo here has not found his
identity and doesn t truly find it except for in those spontaneous moments he shares with Juliet.
Mercutio has plenty dialogue but is commonly known for his passionate repetition of A plague a
both your houses! right before his death. The main concern for the two lovers though is keeping
their marriage secret. They hope to one day bring peace among the feuding families but are
distraught. In Juliet s balcony speech you hear this concern. O

Moll Flanders Morality
Sweeping generalizations made against a subgroup of the population have never favored well
within a historical perspective. Countless wars and revolutions were fought to discredit
generalizations because they are often either societal racism, sexism, or other maliciously
conceived fallacies. While the Fortunes and Misfortunes of The Famous Moll Flandersand
Company by Daniel Defoereflects many of the ideologies upheld by eighteenth century social
culture, the book also invokes some startling theories. The most disturbing and widely respected
synecdoche was that members of the middle class are morally inferior to those in higher classes.

As an infant, her life path was quite distorted. Moll states the first account that I can recollect, or
could ever learn of myself, was that I had wandered among a crew of those people they call
gypsies, a group of individuals that were widely looked down upon by the general public as
thieves and sinners (45). ] It is important to note, all of the misfortune that were recounted in the
former were not at the hand of Moll herself but instead at her mother s, yet her status in society
was lower because of them. In fact, Moll s lot in life had been damaged long before she could
even develop a moral standing. In a lucky twist of fate, Moll found herself in the care of a local
parsonage where she was placed in the care of a woman who taught her how to make a living for
herself as a seamstress. Individuals living in the middle class during the eighteenth century often
had outside pressures placed upon them that kept their social mobility stagnant; these outside
pressures, coupled with societal stereotyping, often lead to great resentment towards their
oppressors. For society to say that Moll was placed in the middle or lower class because of her
inferior virtue is unfounded, and this theme is reflected in Defoe s writing about Moll s early
beginnings.
It is indisputable that Moll s moral standing changes drastically to reflect the stereotypical
immorality of her class, however, after some reflection, it is

The Theory Of Self Regulation Theory
Self regulation theory can be applied to my Learning goal: to deepen my understanding of the 5
factor model and the way in which it relates to other theories of personality. Self regulation
theory can also encompass my Performance goal: to be at least one week ahead with my
readings and notes throughout the semester. Goals can be placed on a continuum to indicate the
extent to which they are compatible or conflicting (Carver Scheier, 2014). My learning and
performance goals are relatively compatible with each other as remaining ahead of readings each
week will provide the time needed to deeply understand the theories and concepts of the 5 factor
model. However, goals external to studying such as social goals may conflict with my academic
goals for this unit; conflicting goals can result in feeling drained and distressed (Carver Scheier,
2014). I do fencing for a sport, which may both be conflicting and compatible; it takes time away
from study due to training but it also clears my head and relaxes me which can facilitate study.
Although it would be ideal to attempt to balance all goals, partial disengagement may be
necessary if there is too great interference. That is, goals deemed to be less of a priority such as
social or sporting goals may need to be scaled back to be less demanding. As displayed in table 1,
I scored considerably higher on conscientiousness as compared to the mean scores the community

Roman slavery was a complex institute with great diversity, and while some aspects of it were
comparable to American slavery, limiting it to these comparisons would be inaccurate. Nonetheless,
Kubrick s Spartacus chooses to emphasize the aspects that were comparable to American slavery in
order to comment on the Civil Rights Movement of the time. At the same time, the gladiators
represent ideals that would be associated with communism at the time this movie was released, and
the positive portrayal of the communal aspects of this slave society also offers commentary on
McCarthyism. In Spartacus, several aspects of Roman slaveryare portrayed in a manner similar to

Explain Why It Is Important To Do Her Best For The Unborn...
Introduction
In this essay I will discuss why it is essential for an early year s practitioner to have a knowledge
of child development. It is essential that the practitioner has a knowledge of all aspects of child
development including prenatal care and the different stages a child is at while growing up. This
is described in the holistic development of a child. This essay will also focus on the mothers tasks
in order to do her best for the unborn child. It will state what a mother should and should not do
while pregnant.

It is important we use a holistic approach with children as they are also people. This can be
viewed as different levels such as physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. It is important to view
these points as early as possible with children as it with help them as they grow into an adult.
Understanding each child s individual path
Understanding a child s individual path is a massive part of early childhood education. This is
massively important as we must respect that everyone has their own situations and difficulties. This
means that you also do not compare children as they have had different life experiences.
Understanding development
It is essential for a practitioner to know what stages a child should be at for their age. In Birth to
five years , Mary Sheridan describes each of the stages. An example of this is for a new born baby
that the first few days of a baby s life are usually composed of long periods of sleep interspersed
with short periods when the baby is awake. (Sheridan, M. (2014) Mary Sheridan s from birth to
Five years: Children s developmental progress. 4th edn. London, United Kingdom: Routledge.)
Prenatal care is also essential because this will judge whether the child has birth defects or

Relationship Between The Tang And Song Empire
The Tang and Song Empires were two very powerful empires that ruled China after the Han and
Sui Dynasties. The Han Dynasty left China fragmented for centuries, and the Sui Dynasty
reunified China until the Turks from Inner Asia assassinated the son who ruled. The Tang filled
the political vacuum in 618 with emperor Li Shimin (r. 626 649) who extended his power into
westward Inner Asia. The Tang kept many Sui governing practices but avoided overcentralization
with giving nobles, gentry, and religious establishments power. The Tang Empire fell after the
An Lushan and Huang Chao rebellions that left the society homeless, a refugee, or a migrant
worker. The empire fell in 907 after a warlord terminated their line. However, the Song Empire
had arisen in 960 and paid tribute to the Liao, who controlled the north. The Song Empire aligned
with the Jurchens, who ended up creating the Jin Empire, to destroy the Liao capital. The Song
Empire was betrayed by the Jurchens and ended up having to pay tribute to them, which some
historians refer to as the Southern Song period (1127 1279). The Song Empire declined in the year
1126. The Tang and the Song had a variety of economic, political, and social accomplishments,
some that they shared, and some that they didn t. Both the Tang and the Song increased the use of
trade, had a change of size of their empires, and had major advancements in technology. Although,

Why Do We Blush Essay
Why Do We Blush
I have blushed easily all my life. I simply accepted it as unavoidable that whenever I spoke in
class, arrived somewhere late or was singled out for praise or correction that my face would
redden significantly. As a young child I simply assumed that everyone blushed as much as I did,
and that it was only my unusually pale skin that made my tendency towards blushing more apparent.
But this is not, in fact, the case. Some people blush more than others do and some families blush
more than others do (2). Some attribute blushing to social phobia, though it differs in that it is not
accompanied by a change in pulse rate or blood pressure (1). Blushing is generally thought to be a
response to embarrassment, but is the emotion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The source of negative self attention that results in this need to appease the group and by extension
which leads to blushing were divided into categories: threats to public identity, scrutiny and the
accusation of blushing (3). All of these result in negative self attention and the sense that some
social norm has been breached, resulting in the perceived necessity for an appeasement behavior, in
this case, blushing.
Threats to public identity or a perceived negative reaction of other s often leads to blushing (3).
Indeed, many people cited situations in which they have been caught or doing something of which
they are ashamed as leading to blushing (3). This is consistent with blushing as an appeasement
behavior. The person caught doing something that they perceive to be shameful or improper would
feel the need to signal to the rest of their group that they recognize their transgression. That they
reject their actions because they share the values of the groups other members and therefore that
the group should accept them despite their mistake (1). Babies, for example, who have no sense of
social norms or how they are perceived by others, do not blush at all (2). Blushing increases,
though, when strangers witness something that an individual views as unflattering or which puts
them in a negative light. For example, when three people together watched a video of one of

Netflix And Vs. Hulu
The idea of this show would work best with Netflix and or Hulu. Netflix would be the best fit as
their catalog has a wider range of choices and are more experimental in their stories than typical
mainstream media. Their budget is also higher which I believe would be an added benefit for a
show like this that would be shooting on location more so than on a soundstage, or at least for
the city exteriors. The form of the show would not be a typical sitcom camera set up but more
like how Netflix shoots Master of None (2015 present) or Unbreakable: Kimmy Schmidt (2015
present). I feel like the camera would be less static and more cinematic. There would be longer
tracking shots to give the audience a sense of being there with these characters. The story is
meant to be intimate and that they are there with Julianna, going through these struggles life
throws at her. A typically, sitcom set feels as though the audience is looking into the characters
lives versus being immersed into the story itself. The eight to thirteen episodes seems like a
better fit for this type of a comedy as well. Instead of trying to stretch out a season of twenty
something episodes it makes more sense to try and keep the story line conscious and building off
of each other. In recent years tv shows have stopped being episodes that can be stand alone. A
viewer cannot just tune in to any random episodeof say Stranger Things () and understand what is

This shows their inability to support their local civilians. Making it a key reason that Russia has
been placed under increased United States sanctions in the past. More recently Russia has been
looked at for increased sanctions due to their apparent meddling in the United States previous
election. It is hard to determine if previous sanctions greatly impact the economy and country as
a whole. It is said that it could simply be the fall in oil prices because, Sanctions hit at the same
time the price of oil, a major export and source of revenue for the Russian government, dropped
dramatically, by more than 60% between the start of 2014 and the end of 2015 (Nelson, 2017).
Even with the fall in oil prices the sanctions had to play some role in the dropped revenue and down
grading economy. With these sanctions affecting the financial situation that Russia is experiencing
it does not change the fact that they are still treating their civilians with poor respect for their
human rights. Human rights are not the only reason increased sanctions could be considered,
another reason could be their support for terrorism exportation. Second, sanctions can be increased
due to terrorism exportation. Terrorism exportations can be described as state sponsored terrorism.
Which basically means that a country is supporting violence against their civilians or other
countries civilians. Iran is being considered for increased sanctions due to their support of terrorism.

The Patent Of Patent And Its General Applications
Patent is an exclusive rights that uses to protect intellectual property rights. In recent years, with the
development of electronic technology and the widespread use of electronic platforms, software
patents has become a hot topic that frequently discussed by the public. To a certain extent, the
patent brought many exclusive economic rights to the product inventors; the inventors can get a lot
of additional economic benefits with their product patent, especially in terms of software patent.
However, on the other hand, the negative effects of patents also should not be underestimated, such
as it might obstruct creativity, and it might cause an unnecessary litigation in order to compete the
patent. Compared to the positive effects of the patent, the negative effects of the patent seems to be
more prominent. This essay will discuss the usefulness and the harmfulness of patent from three
parts. In the first part, the essay will briefly discuss the concept of the patent and its general
applications. Then, it will analyze the disadvantages of patent. Finally, the essay will explore the
effective solution for the vicious competition of patent.
DEFINITION AND EXAMPLE
The patent is a very fuzzy concept. In general, it can be understood as an exclusive economic rights;
the inventors obtain substantial economic benefits from their invention patent. However, more
people would think of patents as a part of intellectual property; they would think of patents as an
important mean of

Difference Between Fishbein And Ajzen s Theory Of Behaviour
According to Ajzen s (1991) theory models, behavior is depend to the behavioral intention. There
are three factors which influence the behavioral intention, which are the attitude towards behavior,
subjective norms and perceived behavior control. Attitudes are a complete mental state involving
belief, feelings, values and temperament to act in certain ways. A subjective norm is the
sanctions of certain behavior of one or more individuals about their perception and the extent how
the behavior will mould up the perception. Perceived behavioral control refers to an individual s
perception regarding the extent of control he or she has over a particular behavior. According to
Fishbein and Ajzen (1975), the rating by an individual for an event will be either positive or
negative. This evaluation can affect an individual s attitude. Furthermore, Bobek (1997) expressed

Culture has many definitions, and it affects everything people do in their society because of their
ideas, values, attitudes, and normative or expected patterns of behaviour. Culture is not
genetically inherited, and cannot exist on its own, but is always shared by members of a society

mind which distinguishes the members of one group from another , which is passed from
generation to generation, it is changing all the time because each generation adds something of its

Barbie Stereotypes
There have been several articles calling attention to the images children are exposed in cartoons,
or Disney productions, but what about the toys they play with? In the death grip of my two year
old sister, like many other young girls, lies a fairy princess Barbie doll. Barbie has been the toy of
choice for girls everywhere since her debut fifty years ago, representing the ideal girl with a
perfect life to match that can not be achieved. Barbie and other dolls alike negatively affect young
girls causing body image issues and low self esteem.
Since 1965, Barbie, and more recently, the Bratz line of dolls, have been the poster children for
beauty, despite their grotesquely disproportionate appearance. Barbie and Bratz dolls were meant
to represents average girls in their teen years tall, flowing hair and incredibly thin, a body image

might suggest otherwise. For the company to insist young girls compare themselves to the piece
of plastic that is a Barbie doll, is completely outrageous. Looking at the doll s physical
appearance, it s clear that a real person could never embody this image. Breaking down the doll s
structure, there are feet readily bent for high heels, long muscular legs and thin arms, not to

The Media s Influence On Contemporary Society
Scholars have debated the media s increasing influence within contemporary society, and shaping
of identities. It has been suggested that the media provides us with limited notions and materials
to brand ourselves, which involve the notion behind being a man or woman and differentiate the
means of bad or good. There are various prominent mediums used by the media to convey or
direct a message. Images from media arbitrated precepts tend to become the conception of the
individual s self. Vigorito and Curry (1998, p. 136) indicate that pop culture is increasingly visual
and images seen in the media tend to convey the ideal cultural norms, values and genderrelations.
These images are not subtle, but explicit notions of what is acceptable in society and how we as
individuals should look and think in the public eye. In the twenty first century, gender equality has
been held in high regard both in the macro and micro levels of social and professional contexts.
Gender is defined by the features society expects from a maleor female depending on their
biological sex. According to multiple scholars, research on masculinityand male depiction has
become a major focus due to gender becoming a social construct subject to historical change. In the
following study I wish to determine how the ideal male and masculinity is understood and defined,
how the male identity and masculinity is portrayed in film, computer games and advertising, and
how these representations have changed over time.

Platelets Play a Large Role in Tissue Regeneration and...
Unlike other blood cells, platelets are small anucleate structures derived from marrow
megakaryocytes and thought for almost a century to possess solely hemostatic potentials. Platelets,
however, play a much wider role in tissue regeneration and repair and interact intimately with tumor
cells.
On one hand, tumor cells induce platelet aggregation [TCIPA] known to act as the trigger of cancer
associated thrombosis and on the other, recruited to the tumor microenvironment platelets interact
directly with tumor cells favoring their proliferation and indirectly through the release of a wide
palette of growth factors, angiogenic and mitogenic proteins. The role of platelets is not only
confined to the primary tumor site. They escort tumor cells helping their intravasation, vascular
migration and extravasation to the tissues forming distant metastasis.
As expected, non specific or specific inhibition of platelets and their contents represents an
attractive approach in the fight against cancer.
The current review illustrates the role played by the platelets at primary tumor sites and in the
various stages of the metastatic process.

Skeletal Muscle Analysis
The solid framework is the body s system of tissues that controls development both of the body and
inside it, (for example, the heart s pumping activity and the development of nourishment through
the gut). Development is created through the constriction and unwinding of particular muscles.
The muscles of the body are isolated into two primary classes: skeletal (willful) and smooth
(automatic). Skeletal muscles are connected to the skeleton and move different parts of the body.
They are called willful on the grounds that an individual controls their utilization, for example, in
the flexing of an arm or the raising of a foot. There are around 650 skeletal muscles in the entire

biggest muscle in the body is the gluteus Maximus (professed GLUE tee us MAX si mus; bottom
muscles). It moves the thighbone far from the body and straightens out the hip joint. Skeletal
muscles are presumably the most well known kind of muscle. They are the muscles that throb
after strenuous work or activity. Skeletal muscles make up around 40 percent of the body s mass
or weight. They balance out joints, help look after carriage, and give the body its general shape.
They likewise utilize a lot of oxygen and supplements from the blood supply. Skeletal muscles are
appended to bones by extreme, stringy connective tissue called tendons. Tendons are rich in the
protein collagen, which is masterminded in a wavy manner so it can extend and give extra length

The lines separating one genre from another are not concrete and taking bits and pieces of genres can create a well respected movie. As society changes, a genrechanges with it. One can observe what was once important to society and what interested society using the genres that were popular at a specific point in history. The audience changes as time goes on and it is the audience that influences filmmakers. Films need to stay with the times in order to maintain popularity. They Live By Night uses the unique film noir style that was common during the 40s and 50s. Film noirs are black and white melodramas that use shadows to hide key details and emphasize the cynical attitudes of the time. It was filmed and released after WWII, during the Cold War which influenced the cultures and films at the time. Badlands, directed by Terrence Malick, was made in 1973 when the Cold War was still ongoing, the Vietnam War was coming to a close, and the Watergate Scandal had recently been discovered. The general public did not trust the government at this time and Malick played with this fact giving actual authority figures little power in finding and capturing Kit and Holly. • 11. History Of St. Albans Sanatorium St. Albans Sanatorium has a beautiful Sphinx like presence that literally vibrates with remarkable energy. She will often call out to certain people, pulling them into her arms and into her service. I know, because she chose me to help save her and I am not alone. When I first came to St. Albans I was working with merchandising. At that time I was afraid of the dark hallways and empty rooms of the old asylum. I quickly overcame my fear of the place and it was replaced by a love of the building and what it had meant for so many who had come before me. We are its caretakers. Those of us, both paid and volunteer who strive to keep the doors open to a place worth saving, a place that was once the caretaker to so many within its care. Those of us who are now here carry on the vision of people like Don Hanauer, former Director of Operations for St. Albans. He saw the beauty in this building and had a vision of restoring it to its former glory. As outlined in the final chapter of this book, we have worked on a number of special events developed to generate funding for the structure s restoration. At some point, Don s vision for St. Albans became mine. After Don left I knew that I would need to lead the effort to take the sanatorium from disrepair back into wholeness. The beauty and Spirit of this historic landmark now draws paranormal investigators from all over America and beyond, to walk the hallways with the intent of encountering its remaining residents. • 12. I Am A Professional Engineer It is not easy to become a successful, professional engineer. A professional engineer requires high responsibility, especially problem based solving skills to cope with workplace environment and compete with others. Problem based learning (PBL) is really important to reflect the professional practice of engineers. There have been several definitions of PBL. According to Lizinger, Lattuca, Hadgraft and Newstetter (2011, p.134), PBL is the approach that allows learners to practice finding solutions throughout their academy. Learners in a PBL process have to reflect, identify and learn about the complex problem and the cycle is repeated until learners find a solution that they can do both in writing and presentation. There are some basics of PBL such as decision making, communication, collaboration, self regulation, self motivation and flexibility. These basics are the base for every engineerto become a successful professional practicing engineer. Decision making ability helps engineers to learn deeply from the problems and have ability to analyse and get the detail of the problems before planning to solve them. Deep learners focus on the problem carefully and get all information about it. Lizinger, Lattuca, Hadgraft and Newstetter (2011, p.126) state that the experiences of the effective learning from deep learning leads learners to understand key words and general principle to develop both technic and profession. • 13. Pros And Cons Of Indians The establishment of the Virginia colony was a rough, and tough one. For many years after the first settlement the establishment lacked advancement and was a great failure to it s original expectations. Despite the claim that the colonial experience between two cultures results in the destruction of the inferior culture, the superior English could have easily been wiped out had the inferior Indians let them stare to death. Yet, because of this helping hand, the saved Europeans, with more superior economics, technology, and lustful desires in mind seized the land right under the Indians. Were the Indians fated to be destroyed based on the decisions and the circumstances of both parties, and why? The Indians were unfortunate collateral damage to their own helping hand, boosting the likelihood of their destruction and the growing greed and selfishness of the Whites. With many cultural differences, morals, and action the Indians were not exactly up to par with the European s current way of life. Bringing lustful desires of profit, and imposing intentions to the New World the Europeans were armed with much more powerful weaponry, bigger and better ships, and ambition for greater things. In many of his leadership roles there was no monetary gains to be had. He said that a commitment to servant leadership pays off in the long run even when immediate impact can not be seen. When asked if he thought leadership developed with experience, Rick had this to say, Yes, because the person realizes that he or she has the ability to influence behavior, which is really what leadership is. According the article, our global freshwater sources, including underground aquifers and rivers are stressed beyond their ability to provide freshwater. Agriculture redesign is necessary with the two primary goals being to cut water demands of mainstream agriculture and bring low cost irrigation to poor farmers. Typical irrigation, crop furrow flooding is a main cause of wasted and polluted water. This article discusses alternatives to typical irrigation. These alternatives have been tested onsite by farers and surveyed. Article Summary: Severe water scarcity could be imminent in the not so distant future. Flooding crop furrows has been an inexpensive irrigation method for over six thousand years. Though traditional, it is very wasteful. An excessive amount of the water evaporates into he air, or soaks into the ground while the plants receive very little. The excess water drains into rivers and underground aquifers. The water running from the furrows is polluted with fertilizers. The constant use of flooding creates erosion, waterlogging and salinization of the soil. 40 percent of the world s food grows on irrigated soil. There are multiple reasons why the practice of flooding crop furrows continues. The practice of flooding crop furrows produces two to three harvests per year with a higher crop yield. When Romeo finds out about Juliet s death he believes he has all the facts. He suddenly makes the decision to kill himself, aided by poison. Romeos best speech is perhaps the one he delivers in the tomb; with it he gives dignity, meaning, and finality to the one act he plans and executes (Huntley). The speech and characters of the play have been depicted all throughout music, literature, dance, and theater. There s a certain musical flow and intense alternation of mood that enliven the speech. Mercutio is a big part of this. When Romeo needs guidance, Mercutio is there quickly giving him advice worth hearing. In fact, some believe the wisest words in the entire play are said by him. Why, is not this better now than groaning for love? Now art though sociable, now art thou Romeo; Now art thou what thou art, by art as well as by nature. These words are also said to be the most ironic. Romeo here has not found his identity and doesn t truly find it except for in those spontaneous moments he shares with Juliet. Mercutio has plenty dialogue but is commonly known for his passionate repetition of A plague a both your houses! right before his death. Moll states the first account that I can recollect, or could ever learn of myself, was that I had wandered among a crew of those people they call gypsies, a group of individuals that were widely looked down upon by the general public as thieves and sinners (45). ] It is important to note, all of the misfortune that were recounted in the former were not at the hand of Moll herself but instead at her mother s, yet her status in society was lower because of them. In fact, Moll s lot in life had been damaged long before she could even develop a moral standing. In a lucky twist of fate, Moll found herself in the care of a local parsonage where she was placed in the care of a woman who taught her how to make a living for herself as a seamstress. Individuals living in the middle class during the eighteenth century often had outside pressures placed upon them that kept their social mobility stagnant; these outside pressures, coupled with societal stereotyping, often lead to great resentment towards their oppressors. For society to say that Moll was placed in the middle or lower class because of her inferior virtue is unfounded, and this theme is reflected in Defoe s writing about Moll s early beginnings. The Theory Of Self Regulation Theory Self regulation theory can be applied to my Learning goal: to deepen my understanding of the 5 factor model and the way in which it relates to other theories of personality. Self regulation theory can also encompass my Performance goal: to be at least one week ahead with my readings and notes throughout the semester. Goals can be placed on a continuum to indicate the extent to which they are compatible or conflicting (Carver Scheier, 2014). My learning and performance goals are relatively compatible with each other as remaining ahead of readings each week will provide the time needed to deeply understand the theories and concepts of the 5 factor model. However, goals external to studying such as social goals may conflict with my academic goals for this unit; conflicting goals can result in feeling drained and distressed (Carver Scheier, 2014). I do fencing for a sport, which may both be conflicting and compatible; it takes time away from study due to training but it also clears my head and relaxes me which can facilitate study. Although it would be ideal to attempt to balance all goals, partial disengagement may be necessary if there is too great interference. That is, goals deemed to be less of a priority such as social or sporting goals may need to be scaled back to be less demanding. • 32. Relationship Between The Tang And Song Empire The Tang and Song Empires were two very powerful empires that ruled China after the Han and Sui Dynasties. The Han Dynasty left China fragmented for centuries, and the Sui Dynasty reunified China until the Turks from Inner Asia assassinated the son who ruled. The Tang filled the political vacuum in 618 with emperor Li Shimin (r. 626 649) who extended his power into westward Inner Asia. The Tang kept many Sui governing practices but avoided overcentralization with giving nobles, gentry, and religious establishments power. The Tang Empire fell after the An Lushan and Huang Chao rebellions that left the society homeless, a refugee, or a migrant worker. The empire fell in 907 after a warlord terminated their line. However, the Song Empire had arisen in 960 and paid tribute to the Liao, who controlled the north. The Song Empire aligned with the Jurchens, who ended up creating the Jin Empire, to destroy the Liao capital. The Song Empire was betrayed by the Jurchens and ended up having to pay tribute to them, which some historians refer to as the Southern Song period (1127 1279). The Song Empire declined in the year 1126. The Tang and the Song had a variety of economic, political, and social accomplishments, some that they shared, and some that they didn t. Both the Tang and the Song increased the use of trade, had a change of size of their empires, and had major advancements in technology. Although, the Tang and the Song differed with the growth of Song s population and its ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Why Do We Blush Essay Why Do We Blush I have blushed easily all my life. I simply accepted it as unavoidable that whenever I spoke in class, arrived somewhere late or was singled out for praise or correction that my face would redden significantly. As a young child I simply assumed that everyone blushed as much as I did, and that it was only my unusually pale skin that made my tendency towards blushing more apparent. But this is not, in fact, the case. Some people blush more than others do and some families blush more than others do (2). Some attribute blushing to social phobia, though it differs in that it is not accompanied by a change in pulse rate or blood pressure (1). Blushing is generally thought to be a response to embarrassment, but is the emotion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The source of negative self attention that results in this need to appease the group and by extension which leads to blushing were divided into categories: threats to public identity, scrutiny and the accusation of blushing (3). All of these result in negative self attention and the sense that some social norm has been breached, resulting in the perceived necessity for an appeasement behavior, in this case, blushing. Threats to public identity or a perceived negative reaction of other s often leads to blushing (3). Indeed, many people cited situations in which they have been caught or doing something of which they are ashamed as leading to blushing (3). This is consistent with blushing as an appeasement behavior. The person caught doing something that they perceive to be shameful or improper would feel the need to signal to the rest of their group that they recognize their transgression. That they reject their actions because they share the values of the groups other members and therefore that the group should accept them despite their mistake (1). Babies, for example, who have no sense of social norms or how they are perceived by others, do not blush at all (2). Blushing increases, though, when strangers witness something that an individual views as unflattering or which puts them in a negative light. For example, when three people together watched a video of one of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Netflix And Vs. Hulu The idea of this show would work best with Netflix and or Hulu. Netflix would be the best fit as their catalog has a wider range of choices and are more experimental in their stories than typical mainstream media. Their budget is also higher which I believe would be an added benefit for a show like this that would be shooting on location more so than on a soundstage, or at least for the city exteriors. The form of the show would not be a typical sitcom camera set up but more like how Netflix shoots Master of None (2015 present) or Unbreakable: Kimmy Schmidt (2015 present). I feel like the camera would be less static and more cinematic. There would be longer tracking shots to give the audience a sense of being there with these characters. The story is meant to be intimate and that they are there with Julianna, going through these struggles life throws at her. A typically, sitcom set feels as though the audience is looking into the characters lives versus being immersed into the story itself. The eight to thirteen episodes seems like a better fit for this type of a comedy as well. Instead of trying to stretch out a season of twenty something episodes it makes more sense to try and keep the story line conscious and building off of each other. In recent years tv shows have stopped being episodes that can be stand alone. A viewer cannot just tune in to any random episodeof say Stranger Things () and understand what is happening. Instead they have to watch every episode to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These sanctions are often used to enforce laws or certain ideas. The Office of Economic Sanctions Policy and Implementation (SPI) enforces and maintains sanctions in order to maximize their economic impact on target but minimizing the damage to U.S. economic interest . Making it a key reason that Russia has been placed under increased United States sanctions in the past. More recently Russia has been looked at for increased sanctions due to their apparent meddling in the United States previous election. It is hard to determine if previous sanctions greatly impact the economy and country as a whole. It is said that it could simply be the fall in oil prices because, Sanctions hit at the same time the price of oil, a major export and source of revenue for the Russian government, dropped dramatically, by more than 60% between the start of 2014 and the end of 2015 (Nelson, 2017). Even with the fall in oil prices the sanctions had to play some role in the dropped revenue and down grading economy. With these sanctions affecting the financial situation that Russia is experiencing it does not change the fact that they are still treating their civilians with poor respect for their human rights. Human rights are not the only reason increased sanctions could be considered, another reason could be their support for terrorism exportation. Second, sanctions can be increased due to terrorism exportation. Terrorism exportations can be described as state sponsored terrorism. Which basically means that a country is supporting violence against their civilians or other countries civilians. Iran is being considered for increased sanctions due to their support of terrorism. • 37. The Patent Of Patent And Its General Applications Patent is an exclusive rights that uses to protect intellectual property rights. In recent years, with the development of electronic technology and the widespread use of electronic platforms, software patents has become a hot topic that frequently discussed by the public. To a certain extent, the patent brought many exclusive economic rights to the product inventors; the inventors can get a lot of additional economic benefits with their product patent, especially in terms of software patent. However, on the other hand, the negative effects of patents also should not be underestimated, such as it might obstruct creativity, and it might cause an unnecessary litigation in order to compete the patent. Compared to the positive effects of the patent, the negative effects of the patent seems to be more prominent. This essay will discuss the usefulness and the harmfulness of patent from three parts. In the first part, the essay will briefly discuss the concept of the patent and its general applications. Then, it will analyze the disadvantages of patent. • 38. Difference Between Fishbein And Ajzen s Theory Of Behaviour According to Ajzen s (1991) theory models, behavior is depend to the behavioral intention. There are three factors which influence the behavioral intention, which are the attitude towards behavior, subjective norms and perceived behavior control. Attitudes are a complete mental state involving belief, feelings, values and temperament to act in certain ways. A subjective norm is the sanctions of certain behavior of one or more individuals about their perception and the extent how the behavior will mould up the perception. Perceived behavioral control refers to an individual s perception regarding the extent of control he or she has over a particular behavior. According to Fishbein and Ajzen (1975), the rating by an individual for an event will be either positive or negative. This evaluation can affect an individual s attitude. Culture has many definitions, and it affects everything people do in their society because of their ideas, values, attitudes, and normative or expected patterns of behaviour. Culture is not genetically inherited, and cannot exist on its own, but is always shared by members of a society (Hall 1976, p. 16). Hofstede (1980, pp. 21 23) defines culture as the collective programming of the mind which distinguishes the members of one group from another , which is passed from generation to generation, it is changing all the time because each generation adds something of its own before passing it on. The social capital literature has shown that socially held beliefs can shape not only collective actions but government and economic performance (North 1981; Knack and Keefer, 1997; Landes, 1998; La Porta et al., 1999; Putnam, 1993). • 39. Barbie Stereotypes There have been several articles calling attention to the images children are exposed in cartoons, or Disney productions, but what about the toys they play with? In the death grip of my two year old sister, like many other young girls, lies a fairy princess Barbie doll. Barbie has been the toy of choice for girls everywhere since her debut fifty years ago, representing the ideal girl with a perfect life to match that can not be achieved. Barbie and other dolls alike negatively affect young girls causing body image issues and low self esteem. Since 1965, Barbie, and more recently, the Bratz line of dolls, have been the poster children for beauty, despite their grotesquely disproportionate appearance. Barbie and Bratz dolls were meant to represents average girls in their teen years tall, flowing hair and incredibly thin, a body image that is not possible for every girl, though Mattel s slogan Barbie can be anything! And so can you! might suggest otherwise. For the company to insist young girls compare themselves to the piece of plastic that is a Barbie doll, is completely outrageous. Looking at the doll s physical appearance, it s clear that a real person could never embody this image. Breaking down the doll s structure, there are feet readily bent for high heels, long muscular legs and thin arms, not to mention the fact that the head of a Barbie or Bratz doll exceeds the width of it s waist! To even begin to entertain this image is unrealistic. What are we telling ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. The Media s Influence On Contemporary Society Scholars have debated the media s increasing influence within contemporary society, and shaping of identities. It has been suggested that the media provides us with limited notions and materials to brand ourselves, which involve the notion behind being a man or woman and differentiate the means of bad or good. There are various prominent mediums used by the media to convey or direct a message. Images from media arbitrated precepts tend to become the conception of the individual s self. Vigorito and Curry (1998, p. 136) indicate that pop culture is increasingly visual and images seen in the media tend to convey the ideal cultural norms, values and genderrelations. These images are not subtle, but explicit notions of what is acceptable in society and how we as individuals should look and think in the public eye. In the twenty first century, gender equality has been held in high regard both in the macro and micro levels of social and professional contexts. Gender is defined by the features society expects from a maleor female depending on their biological sex. According to multiple scholars, research on masculinityand male depiction has become a major focus due to gender becoming a social construct subject to historical change. In the following study I wish to determine how the ideal male and masculinity is understood and defined, how the male identity and masculinity is portrayed in film, computer games and advertising, and how these representations have changed over time. ... • 41. Platelets Play a Large Role in Tissue Regeneration and... Unlike other blood cells, platelets are small anucleate structures derived from marrow megakaryocytes and thought for almost a century to possess solely hemostatic potentials. Platelets, however, play a much wider role in tissue regeneration and repair and interact intimately with tumor cells. On one hand, tumor cells induce platelet aggregation [TCIPA] known to act as the trigger of cancer associated thrombosis and on the other, recruited to the tumor microenvironment platelets interact directly with tumor cells favoring their proliferation and indirectly through the release of a wide palette of growth factors, angiogenic and mitogenic proteins. The role of platelets is not only confined to the primary tumor site. They escort tumor cells helping their intravasation, vascular migration and extravasation to the tissues forming distant metastasis. As expected, non specific or specific inhibition of platelets and their contents represents an attractive approach in the fight against cancer. The current review illustrates the role played by the platelets at primary tumor sites and in the various stages of the metastatic process. Key Word: Tumor, Cancer, Platelet, TCIPA, Growth factor, Metastasis HISTORIC BACKGROUND In 1877, Hayem provided a firm histologic basis for platelets; albeit he felt they were the origin of red blood cells and referred to them as hematoblasts . • 42. Skeletal Muscle Analysis The solid framework is the body s system of tissues that controls development both of the body and inside it, (for example, the heart s pumping activity and the development of nourishment through the gut). Development is created through the constriction and unwinding of particular muscles. The muscles of the body are isolated into two primary classes: skeletal (willful) and smooth (automatic). Skeletal muscles are connected to the skeleton and move different parts of the body. They are called willful on the grounds that an individual controls their utilization, for example, in the flexing of an arm or the raising of a foot. There are around 650 skeletal muscles in the entire human body. Smooth muscles are found in the stomach and intestinal dividers, vein and corridor dividers, ... The longest muscle in the human body is the Sartorius (purported sar TOR ee us). It runs starting from the waist over the front of thigh to the knee. Its design is to flex the hip and knee. The biggest muscle in the body is the gluteus Maximus (professed GLUE tee us MAX si mus; bottom muscles). It moves the thighbone far from the body and straightens out the hip joint. Skeletal muscles are presumably the most well known kind of muscle. They are the muscles that throb after strenuous work or activity. Skeletal muscles make up around 40 percent of the body s mass or weight. They balance out joints, help look after carriage, and give the body its general shape.
