Pauline Greig was born in 1934 to a Protestant family. She grew up with 5 siblings in Cygnet,
Tasmania and married Robert Greig in 1960 when she was 26. I was first introduced to Pauline
by my mum. In 2011, working as a nurse, she treated her husband Robert in hospital as he was
recovering from surgery. Pauline was staying with Robert in his recovery room when she noticed
the necklace my mum was wearing around her neck. It had the little infant Jesus on one side and
Mary on the other. They then discovered and connected with each other through our shared faith,
Catholicism. When we moved to our new house in Macgregor we began attending Mass at St

4. Labor Unions Essays
In this essay I ll write about union membership, membership trends, the two types and levels, and
the importance of unions. I ll also discuss some of the negative sides of unionization in corporate
America today.
Labor unions are groups or clubs of workers and employees who bond together to get good
conditions, fair pay, and fair hours for their labor. These unions are usually joined together, and
most unions in America are some branch of the largest labor union organization in the United
States, the AFL CIO with thirteen million members.
One of the largest unions is the Teamsters Union, formed in 1903, and perhaps the most
contentious, union with 1.3 million members, were expelled from the AFL CIO, in 1957. The labor
organization grew ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the reasons for the decline was the loss of jobs in manufacturing, which was the labor s
biggest stronghold. America has lost three million factory jobs over the past four years. The second
reason is heavily unionized industries have been decreasing. Other reasons are many firms have
moved from the unionized to the not so unionized Southeast and Southwest region and they tend to
hire nonunion workers. Some of the American companies have moved their manufacturing process
to other countries where very few unionized labor is employed. The management of the companies
is providing benefits that include higher wages and better working conditions, therefore employees
don t need to join any union. The largest growths in employment take place in the service
industries, and these industries regularly are not unionized.
The two main types of unions are craft unions and industrial unions. Craft unions are organizations
of workers with similar skills. This type of union can maintain control over the supply of skilled
laborers; often work for multiple employers in a year. (e.g. construction unions, pilot unions)
Industrial unions are organized by industry which originally started b/c ineligible for craft unions
and typically work for one employer for long period. (e.g. steelworkers, auto workers)
Unions often have several levels which are; local: workers in plant or industry in a limited
geographical area (Buhler union was CAW local 2224), national: larger union

5. A Production Of Woyzeck By Georg Buchner
While designing a show certain key aspects must be thought about in order for the show to flow
in a way that will keep audience members engaged. The show must be true to the script, be
pleasing to the eye, offer dynamic characters, and be accessible to the public. In order, for a
production of Woyzeck by Georg Buchner to be produced certain decisions must be made early
on. This is due to the incompleteness of the play. In Buchner s play, the main character of
Woyzeck and his family are marginalized to an insane degree. They are crushed by the world
around them, never fully able to reach their full potential because of the societal pressures they
experience. In order to interpret this idea, I would make the set for my production of Woyzeck
larger than life. The extravagance of the set would help to advance this metaphor, as it would
juxtapose the mundane, meek nature of Woyzeck and his family. Georg Buchner died before he
was able to finished the play which means that because it is incomplete there is no way for
certain to know which order the play is supposed to go in. The fragmented scenes allow the play
to take various forms. The play revolves around the concept that there is no structure. Each scene
is independent and follows a story; however, the story can be altered depending on the order one
presents the scenes in and the images one emphasizes. Georg Buchner s original idea can only be
interpreted and no one is certain what he wanted to end the show with. One of the

After Louis XIV died in the year 1715 the social situation in France somewhat change. Political
life and private morals relaxes as five years old Louis XV comes to throne. Many aristocrats
move from the court of Versailles to Paris. Reaction against the formal style centered at Louis
XIV Versailles provide basis for a new style to develop. Baroque designs that were in style
before, gave way to lighter elements with more natural patterns. Rococo reflected the new taste
for more delicate decoration for smaller, more comfortable interiors of town houses in Paris. First
as interior decoration and design Rococo style would later expand and influence the other parts of
art. It also spread around the Europe but its acceptance was tied to religion and class.
First, Rococo style appears in interior decoration and design. It took pleasure in asymmetry by
leaving elements unbalanced. Design elements as ornaments, leaves, flowers and curving lines
were used to decorate the walls and ceilings and would made them look like fleeting illusions. That
taste was new to European style.
Though Rococo originated in the decorative arts, the style showed clearly in painting. Painters used
delicate colors and curving forms, decorating their works with myths of love. The soft colors and
elegant forms, provided a perfect accompaniment to the Rococo interiors for which they were
intended.
The asymmetrical compositions, pastoral landscapes and aristocracy in

8. Story of an Hour by Kate Chopin
A dynamic character is a major character in a work of fiction that encounters conflict and is
changed by it. In The Story of an Hour by Kate Chopin, the emotional pattern and thought
process of Louise Mallard after she is informed of her husband s death are explored. Over the
course of the hour in which the story takes place Louise has a realization about the constraints she
feels in her life and in her marriage. By delineating Louise as a flat and dynamic character, Chopin
is able to convey her theme that real freedom is found in death. Over the course of the story, all the
characters are left as fairly flat and undeveloped. Louise is simply described as a young woman

With the breath of rain in the air and the tree tops bursting with life (paragraph four), Louise
begins her journey to her conclusion. Even though the visualization of nature, Louise is
competent enough to grasp that her love for Brently could not compare to the possession of self
assertion which she suddenly recognized as the strongest impulse of her being (paragraph
fifteen). Soon enough she had nearly forgotten her departed lover and was drinking in an elixir of
life through that open window (paragraph eighteen). After the inhalation of submission, Louise
carried herself unwittingly like a goddess of Victory (paragraph twenty) down the stairs. In doing
so, the once emotionally unstable and physically ailed woman with white slender hands
(paragraph ten) was able to prepare for a life without discretion or restrictions. The development of
Louise only seized due to her preexisting medical condition claiming her life. However this
motivation is what caused Louise to act in the ways she did and refined the theme. The
development of character in The Story of an Hour is left stagnant. Having a flat main character
allows the reader to identify with the story on a level of understanding separate from that of any
round character. Although the reader is inserted into Louise s mind, an entirely understood
background for her is missing. In doing so a void is made in which the reader can

17. Bruno Bettelheim s `` Punishment Versus Discipline ``
Bruno Bettelheim is one of the most influential child psychologists who lived in the 20th century.
Bettelheim s writings and theories cement his reputation as one of the most influential
psychologists by teaching parents the proper way of raising their child. His ideas and writings also
establish his prestige by revolutionizing the way in which psychologists treat children with mental
health issues. He changes the way in which mentally ill children are treated by promoting milieu
therapy as an alternative method of healing these children. His ideas are relevant today because
they assist school and educational institution in dealing with the problem of bullying. His works
allow psychologists and educators to understand the bully s actions and the victim s responses, thus
assisting them in solving the problem of bullying. This essay summarizes and provides a deep
analysis of Bettelheim s works and ideas with the aim to explore how his ideas help schools to deal
with the problem of bullying. Bettelheim s article Punishment Versus Discipline analyzes the toll
that punishment has on children. Bettelheim explains to the parents that through violence they
inspire their children to use their power to intimidate others by imitating the behaviors that were
inflicted on them previously. He also tells the parents that using physical punishment does not deter
their children from committing the action and that it can encourage them to become devious or
untrustworthy (NP). This

Inez Beverly Prosser, Psychologist
Inez Beverly Posser (1895 1934) was America s first Black female psychologist. http:/

adversity she overcame growing up to get there. And later, in the profound research in her

integration vs. segregation as it relates to psychology. Inez was born into a family with 10 other

Why did Inez s research and conclusion cause such controversy? There are many 3 different views
that can be drawn on the research and conclusions. First, since Inez was African
American herself, this may have conflicted within her African Americancommunity. Why?
Since African Americans have been struggling for equal rights and equality in education, this
would seem to go against what her own race has been struggling to achieve. On the surface it
would appear that way. However, her research was from a psychological perspective that had not
yet been considered or researched. Ironically, her conclusions in her study in her dissertation could
also be useful as the topic of desegregation that did not come along until decades after her study.
The question that was answered even before its time, is how desegregation would effect the
students themselves. Would this have a positive or negative effect on their education? If equality
was to be reached in the public school system wouldn t this have to also mean that the
African American students would also fare better than in integrated schools? What s the use in
achieving desegregation if it is going to have such a negative impact on the African American
students? If you will notice, the word integrated is used in place of desegregation in her study since
desegregation had not yet even been addressed! As you can imagine, many different views,
arguments, and psychological

19. The Bombing Of The Uss Maine
February 15th, 1898, the USS Maine was hit with a mine as it sat in the Havana Harbor. There is
large speculation to whether that is the truth or not. Over the years it is still a topic of debate as
of what caused the explosion. Some believe that the Spaniards did it, others believe it was a
clumsy mistake of misplaced ammo, others believe it was a spontaneous coal fire that caught a
box of ammunition on fire. No matter the cause, the loss of the ship and 260 of her crew was
devastating to America at the time and led to strong feelings of dislike towards the Spaniards,
leading to the Spanish American war of 1898. The theories behind the explosion of the USS Maine
is mainly focused around two ideas, there are many angles that can be viewed for the cause of this
disaster and its fueling of the war that will be examined in this paper.
The Spanish American war was a short war in which America won in three months, two weeks and
four days. The fights were extremely unbalanced as America dominated Spain in all of the battles.
At Manila Bay in the Philippines the American fleet, under command of Commodore Dewey,
destroyed the Spanish fleet and took over the Philippines on May 1st, in which total America only
had several wounded soldiers at the end of the battle. In June, American forces landed outside of the
Cuban city of Santiago where their heavy woolen winter uniforms caused them to sweat profusely
in the intense Spanish heat. Amidst the heat they re provisions consisted of

20. Evaluating The Play Julius Caesar
In this project we had to create a film that incorporated the play Julius Caesar by Shakespeare, by
using a reality TV show. One of the very first obstacles we had went through was deciding on
which reality TV to use. I had wanted to do the reality TV show called Survivor, but most of my
other group members wanted to do The Kardashians. The reason I had wanted to do survivor was
because I felt like it gave our filma really good structure to follow unlike The Kardashians. We
easily resolved this issue by just taking a vote, which led to my group using The Kardashians.
This was an example of one of our group s smaller issues. Now moving on to a bigger issue that we
had, which was trying to find days for when we could meet up after school to get our filming...

to Barnes Nobles, Mia s house, and we also stayed after school twice. One thing that made it hard
to find a day to meet up is because of one of my group members in particular, Vanessa. She was
always busy and always seemed to have some type of excuse to not being able to meet up. While
trying to figure out how long we were going to stay at Barnes Nobles to film we decided to stay
from one pm to 5 pm and Vanessa responded by saying Well I have a life, so I don t want to stay
that long . When she had made that comment everyone in my group just looked at her with a
dumbfounded look. After that comment, it lead to another big issue in my group; the unreliability
of Vanessa. There were many moments that made Vanessa unreliable: waiting till the last
moment to do her part of the script, barely being able to make it to any of the meeting we had
after school, being off task, and messing up her part of the script. On top of that she was bossy at

21. Hamlet Twelfth Night
William Shakespeare s plays Hamlet and Twelfth Night are completely opposite plays. However,
there are many connections that can be made between the two. Seeing as Hamlet is a dark tragedy
and Twelfth Night is a romantic comedy, both seem to have romantic twists to them developed by
the hindering of the truth of one s appearance. These are shown through major themes, such as
deceit through disguises, complex love triangles, and varying opinions of marriage.
In the play Twelfth NightShakespeare uses disguise as a major theme. This is partially what makes
the play a comedy but also creates the ties to Hamlet . In the beginning of Hamlet the main
character himself makes everyone believe he is mad to try to get the truth out of his uncle of
why is father died. Many of the other characters in this play pretend to be good natured and
caring toward Hamlet, when in all reality they were unjust and self absorbed. In Twelfth Night,
many of the characters disguise themselves as someone else, such as Viola pretending to be
Cesario. Olivia falls in love with Cesario . Feste and Malvolio disguise themselves as two
completely different people than the people they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

solved when Viola s twin brother Sebastian arrives. Olivia marries Sebastian, thinking him to be

decides to marry her when he finds out. The love triangle in Hamlet, or rather sexual tension, is

Introduction
In response to the September 11th attacks, the United States launched the Global War on Terrorism,
invading both Afghanistan and Iraq. Despite these wars and the necessity for post conflict stability
operations, military leadership, including the Secretary of Defense, had neither desired nor trained
its personnel to effectively conduct stability operations, which require effective interagency
collaboration. Failing to effectively leverage interagency capabilities during the early phases of the
2003 Iraq Warat the strategic, operational, and tactical levels prolonged the achievement of the
U.S. military s objective transferring power to the Iraqis.

However, the quick handover of power to Iraq did not work and the U.S. military had no back up
strategy.
One project which could have potentially provided crucial insight for how to transition power
back to the Iraqis was shut down by Rumsfeld. Titled the Future of Iraq Project, Rumsfeld
successfully pushed to shut it down because he had no control over it. When the program was
transferred to the DOD, Rumsfeld went as far as excluding former team members from joining the
new team because they were not pentagon people. Tensions both within and outside the DOD had
already established a negative tone with respect to interagency cooperation. Within the military,
General Franks and secretary Rumsfeld were in strong disagreement about the number of troops
necessary for the invasion of Iraq. Outside the military, Secretary Rumsfeld faced resistance from
the CIA and the State department in the immediacy of invading Iraq the CIA initially resisted
linking Saddam with Al Qaeda and Weapons of Mass Destruction (though this would change under
heavy pressure) and the State Department had differing views on strategy and treatment of POWs.
Despite facing resistance from both within and from outside the DOD, Rumsfeld succeeded in
establishing the Defense Department as the lead agency in charge of post war Iraq. Thus, the
military was ill prepared for post conflict operations not only because it failed to anticipate major

School Uniform
School uniforms keep students focused on their education not in their clothings. When all students
are wearing the same outfit, they are less concerned about how they look and how they fit in with
their peers. It s easier for parent and students do not spend time choosing appropriate outfit for
school day. It helps students can only concentrate on their schoolwork. Education is one of the big
institutions for every kid that go to school. Also education is the roots that will help people the rest
of their lives and will bright in their future. Many people believe that each school should have its
own uniform not only to show their pride for their school, but also to prevent attacks by students
from one particular school on students from a rival school. School with uniform is students can t
attempts to skip because when someone see them in public with their uniform they can report them
to the authorities, which will create big problems at home and at school. School uniform has acted
as a deterrent to truancy. Students with uniform show more respectful and doesn t seem bad for

27. Fighting Back By Harold Werner
Fighting Back It is well known that six million Jews were killed during the Holocaust, and the
images of Jews being rounded up by the hundreds to be taken to concentration camps pervade what
we know about the Holocaust. One might assume then that there were few acts of resistance to this
inevitable fate. However, resistance took place within the ghettos throughout Europe as well as
within the concentration camps. In Poland, where anti Semitism was rampant, there were
organized movements of resistance which took place in the ghettos and in the forests outside of the
cities. Thousands of Jewscame together in what were known as partisangroups to sabotage German
military operations and help other Jews to escape from the ghettos. Harold Werner was a
member of one of these partisan groups who wrote a memoir entitled Fighting Back: a Memoir
of Jewish Resistance in WWII. He decided to write this memoir in part as a response to his
children s questions about why the Jews went like sheep to the slaughter. It was important to
Werner not just to answer his children s questioning but to highlight for the world, both Jews and
non Jews, the bravery displayed by the thousands of Jews who fought for their own lives and for
the lives of other Jews. Werner s memoir is important for this generation and those that follow to
help us understand that there were thousands of Jewish citizens who fought against the cruelty of
the Nazis. I had read books about the Holocaustsuch as Night

28. Reaction Time Lab
In this lab, the team concluded that being distracted with an activity that diverts optical attention
away from the focal point, such as texting, significantly increases reaction time. The other
distractors, including listening to music and talking on a cell phone, had effectively no impact on
reaction time in comparison to having no distraction.
In order convert the distance the meter stick fell into the given unit of time (seconds or hours), the
time equation shown in the sample calculation was used. This equation directly found the reaction
time in seconds, which allowed the team to calculate the reaction time in hours. Dimensional
analysis was used to convert seconds to hours, which resulted in extraordinarily small quantities that
warranted the use of scientific notation.
From there, the team had to determine in each case how far a car traveling at 60 miles per hour
would travel before brakes would be applied. To do this, the team used the equation v=d/t to find
distance, and thus rewriting it as d=vt. This equation determined the distance in miles, prompting
the team to again use dimensional analysis to find the distance in feet.

Without the internet, it may be fair to say that the global economy we know of today would

consumers and retailers all over the world that convenience would obviously be lost if the internet

Some may see this view as a dramatic interpretation, but just thinking about all of the products and

the world actually is on it. 3.Contrast differentiation and low cost strategies (noting that many firms

30. Proposal About Wildlife Endangerment
Dear Carter Roberts,
I am writing to you today to express my concerns and to propose a plan regarding the serious
issue with wildlife endangerment. More than 100 million animals are killed each year. Some are
simply killed by hunters which essentially can be debated but the majority are killed for chemical
testing used in biology labs and climate change. We, as a society, need to act to start protecting the
wildlife throughout the world. I believe that this is an important issue because by protecting
nature s animals, we are enriching the earth. When we take care of wildlife, it helps keep water
clean and gives us the ability to drink fresh water. If we can all work together, I think that we can
lower the number of wildlife endangerment all together.
The first thing I suggest you doing is having more conferences on the endangered species act. This
act truly emphasizes on protecting animals and the areas they live in. For example, we should be
courteous towards these animals and not disturb the areas they live in. A vast majority of habitats
are ruined by humans for humans. I do understand that some areas need to be built to develop a
stronger economy, but we also need to think about the animals because we wouldn t be here if they
all died. These areas cover a massive amount of land, so it is important to think about what you are
building and why you are building it.
Next, I think that increasing the funds that every wildlife program has would be a huge benefit for
these

Have you ever felt the need to wash your hands again, even though you just did so seconds
earlier? Or maybe felt intense anxiety over everyday tasks, such as sending a letter and
believing you may have misspelled a word. You may feel that this is just a personal issue, but in
reality, many people all over the world share the same thoughts and feelings. Obsessive
Compulsive Disorder, or more commonly called OCD, as defined by (Obsessive, 2010), is a
type of mental illness that causes repeated unwanted thoughts. This common disorder can be
found in nearly every region and culture around the world, so even though one dealing with it
may feel alone, the person sitting right beside them could easily be suffering from something
similar. According to (How Many People, 2012), their best estimates found that one within every
one hundred adults, or nearly two to three million adults just within the United States suffer from
some type of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Also, they found that at least one within every two
hundred children and teenagers, or five hundred thousand in the United States only, also deal with
this disorder. That number parallels with the amount of children in the United States who have
diabetes. To show the commonality of OCD in our society, it s important to know specific cases

Marylanders live in an open, welcoming environment, but this was not always the case.
When the first Jewish settlers landed in St. Mary s City, political equality was only a hope for the
distant future. The first wave of Jewish migration to Maryland was marked by a trend of percolation

Even though suffrage was a right granted to all white males nationally, Jewish men in Maryland
could not vote until the early 1800 s. The same could be said for the right to hold state office.
The Act of 1715 required that the oath of abjuration was added to the end of all oaths of state
office. The words upon the truth faith of a Christian were administered to all people currently in
state office or who were thereafter sworn into state office (Rabinove, 137). This officially excluded
any Jewish person from holding a state position. Eight years latter, an act was passed to punish
blasphemers, swearers, drunkards, and Sabbath breakers and in addition spell out the appropriate
punishment if any person shall hereafter within this province... deny our Savior Jesus Christ to be

Son of God, or shall deny the Holy Trinity (AMO). Punishment for a first offence was a fine and
a tongue boarding, while punishment for the second a fine and a B branded on the forehead. If a
person was convicted a third time they were put to death. Because of acts like these, Jewish
residents at the time tended to keep their religious affiliation on the backburner. Publicly observant
Jews were few and far between.

When a person thinks of an education system, they most likely think of the education system that
was in place when they went to school. That system however had many different influences to
become what it was. Some of those influences came from the different regions in the American
colonial time. In American colonial time, the Europeans who were settling along the coast all
shared a general culture and heritage. They however had differences when it came to their
economic, political and religious beliefs. Those main factors, as well as others, such as language
and geography, motivated them to split into different colonies. Those colonies can be grouped into
three regions which are the New England, the southern and the Middle Atlantic colonies. Since each
region had their differences, with the main difference being the type of religionpracticed, each
region had a different style for education. The New England colonies included Massachusetts,
Connecticut, New Hampshire and Rhode Island. They followed the views of the Puritanism and
Calvinism. The Puritan belief system did not have a lot of patience with children, and they
expected them to act as if they were young adults. One view on children was that They were small
savages who needed constant upbraiding and discipline to curb their evil inclinations and desires

Through childhood to adulthood, women are bombarded with images of stick skinny women, and
this is the way almost every woman wants to look. Although there are other factors, the media is
the primary source of the obsession with being thin. Why has this become such a popular trend?
This is what society says is acceptable. It has been proven that these images of perfect women do

This damages the self concept of less than perfect women. The increasing pressure to be thin and
the unrealistic images portrayed in the mass media may have a devastating effect on women s self
perceptions, self esteem, and identity development (Heights 603 614). There have been many
studies on the weight decline of
Playboy centerfolds and Miss America Pageant contestants over the years. In 1960, the average
Playboy model s weight was 91% of the population mean. By 1978, it dropped to 84% and
continues to plummet. From 1979 to 1988, 69% of Playboy models and 60% of Miss America
contestants weighed 15% or more below their expected weight, which is criterion for anorexia

with the media. Children as young as two years old start to see images of perfect women, who
one day they are supposed to look like. Even the dolls and Barbies they play with have flawless
figures. In the forty s and fifty s children we seeing more shapely models and actresses, so there

circulation.
1. Exercise.
There s nothing like a good, heart pumping cardio workout to get the blood pumping and
circulating throughout the system. In order to get the best results, try workouts like swimming,
jogging, step aerobics, and the elliptical machine. If you re easing into workouts again, take it one
step at a time and try something that s easier for the body like walking. Make sure the steps are
brisk though.
2. Practice Stretches or Yoga.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The various poses such as downward facing dog and cobra place the body in positions that
encourage proper blood flow. When working to get the body s circulation to improve, stay away
from challenging forms of yoga such as aerial yoga and vinyasa yoga at first. Ease into the more
challenging styles later on.
3. Eliminate Caffeine and Drink lots of Water.
More than half of the human body s composition is made up of water. We require water in order
to live and thrive. In order to encourage healthy circulation of the blood, stay away from caffeine
and drink more water. Even though many people love coffee because of the caffeine boost,
caffeine damages the adrenal glands, constricts blood vessels, and hinders proper flow of the
blood. This may be a challenging move for many people to make but it is vital for overall health.

38. Comparison Of The Pillow Book And The Song Of Roland
Both The Pillow Book and The Song of Roland gives us an insight about the dominant groups
during its respective period. The Pillow Book by Sei Shonagon provides us with the picture of
aristocracy in Japan during the Heian period. Sei Shonagon served as a court lady to the empress
around the year 1000 and through her time she records her opinions and her experiences in the
court. On the other hand The Song of Roland offers us the history of battles during the reign of
Charlemagne and how his government was set up and controlled.
The Heian court controlled the most of the territory of Japanese islands. The government was
centralized and it relied on local officials who relied on the warlords and Buddhist temples. There
were groups who held political power during this period. The emperors were highly prestigious and
politically influential. At this period the country was in peace as there were no outside threat. Due
to this the aristocrats in the court spent time on creating their own rich culture. From the passage of
Service at Court of The Pillow Book, there s detailed information of the women role during that
period and their experience. Sei Shonagon s tells us about her imagination of how it would feel to
be living in the home serving their husbands who don t have a exciting life yet believing there
happy. She says, I wish they could live for a while in our society, even if should mean taking
service as Attendants, so that they might come to know the delights it has to

39. Katrina Sleepy Hollow
During Washington Irving s short story The Legend of Sleepy Hollow , the main focus tends to be
on Brom Van Brunt and Ichabod Crane. Yet it can be alluded that one never thought to question
their love interest s, Katrina Van Tassel and her purpose for existing in the story. Katrina Van
Tassel shows signs of being a convoluted and colluded industrialist; from using men, to using her
wealth and beauty, and even down to her personality, Katrina proves to be the ultimate tease. Just
like workers in the industry field use machines to make goods, it can be concluded that Katrina Van
Tassel can use men to give her attention. Thinking back to the story, evidence can be found on page
thirteen, from the moment Ichabod Cranemade his advances, her interests in the country farmer

Katrina is very quick witted and seems to excel in her studies, she connects with Ichabod during
their private lessons because, like industrialists, they can both use a systematic application of

and psychological applications to play with the minds of men, but betrayal was at hand
(Anderson); as it is mentioned by Ichabod on page twenty, Could that girl have been playing off
any of her coquettish tricks? (Irving 20). Katrina is being manipulative with the men in her life,
showing further that while witty, she can be vile as well. With Brom, it feels almost like Katrina
had him wrapped around her finger. Thinking back to when he sabotaged her music lessons, she
must have figured it was him, and yet rather than be angry she kept her affair with the two men
going. Bottom line is she is an intellectually, vile attention

As an adult you are responsible for every action that you take, but before that action are a series of
thoughts that lead you to taking that action. Your personal responsibility starts at a young age, you
are either taught personal responsibility as you grow into an adult by being held accountable of
your own actions or the responsibility is taken from you. Depending on how you were brought up

42. Impact Of Globalization On The Global Economy
Over the last number of years, it could be said that the growth in the global economy has increased
a vast amount and is rapidly continuing in this direction. The world as we know it is now
becoming progressively more connected through a process called Globalisation. Grossman and
Helpman (1993) say that there are two main trends too which are key contributors that help make
up this process of globalisation. The first of these being the advancement in technology innovations
and secondly following this the idea that nations in the world are becoming more open, however
also more independent. To continue from this, a third trend suggested by Bates (2010) is now a
recognition that educationat all levels is now a global service industry. In addition to this, Jeffery S
(2002) implies that Globalisation s extensive definition could be a disguised title to a great deal of
underlying issues and therefore could be a buzzword that is being frequently used to describe
current world situations to do with trade lines between countries, a freer movement of capital goods
and services and a general more all round greater dependence on the global economy including
education. Burbules and Torres (2000) suggest that the change in dynamics through globalisation
would therefore have a further cause for concern on people involved in the educational endeavour.

Entry barriers: High/Low
Often time, new players brings new resources which can force product price down and as well
reduce profitability of the industry (Mann Byun 2011). Therefore, incumbents on the defending side
raise the threat for new players. The existing retailers safeguard their position by aggressively
expanding their production differentiation in the aspect of brand loyalty, brand identification,

significant economy of scale. Once achieved, it would be difficult for new players to immediately

The lynchings were publicized in newspaper ads and were so accepted that postcards showing
pictures of the event were sold as souvenirs. Apologists claimed that the lynchings took place to
punish criminals for their crimes and to protect white women from black aggressors. To counter the
claims that resulted in these punishments, many activists, including Ida B. Wells, wrote speeches
depicting the harsh and racist reality of lynchings. In 1909, Wells gave a speech at the National

lynching and ensures that crimes will still be punished, even if lynching subsides. Despite the

52. How Does Tonicity Affect Red Blood Cells
The Solution Affect on Red Blood Cells
Introduction
Red blood cells are called erythrocytes. Erythrocytes is a cell that travels in the blood. The blood
consists of four major parts including red blood cells. Blood is a fluid that is inhuman in order to
survive. There are different purposed for the red blood cells that are used to keep the body
healthy. Red blood cells have a protein that carries more oxygen molecules from the lungs to the
body. Hemoglobin leaves the body and returns carbon dioxide to the lungs. Without out this, people
will not survive. When the red blood cell pass through the blood vessels in your body the cell forms
a shape of a round shape like a donut. It the center it looks flat. Red blood cells have a lack of the
nucleus and survive about 120 days. Red blood cell needs to be replaced by fresh ones daily.

53. Cholesterol And Its Effects On The Health Of Your Heart
Cholesterol is a waxy, fat like substance that travels through our blood stream in small packages
called Lipoproteins. There are two different types of lipoproteins that carry cholesterol through your
body; low density lipoproteins (LDL), bad cholesterol, and high density lipoproteins (HDL), good
cholesterol. (1) Our body s make all the cholesterol we need, however it is also found in food we
eat, therefore making, maintaining a good cholesterol level difficult for some people. When one
talks about cholesterol most think about the health of your heart, while this is very important,
cholesterol has other important bodily functions as well, such as, hormone production, cell
membrane support, and bile production.
LDL is known as bad cholesterol because it contributes to a thick, hard deposit that can clog
arteries and make them less flexible, known as plaque. If the plaque builds and forms a clot that
blocks a narrowed artery, one could develop a condition called peripheral artery disease, which is
when plaque buildup narrows an artery supplying blood to the legs. One could also be diagnosed
with atherosclerosis, this is a condition that is caused by a clot that blocks a narrowed artery that
can result in a stroke or even a heart attack. (2)
HDL is considered good cholesterol because it helps to remove LDL cholesterol from the arteries.
HDL carries the LDL cholesterol away from the arteries, back to the liver, where it is broken down
and passed through the body. Nearly

54. Functions Of An Efficient Portfolio
A. Portfolio; feasible set; efficient portfolio; efficient frontier
A portfolio is a group of financial assets, differing in possible risk and return, and is managed by
an investor or a group of professionals. Generally, a higher return expected by a portfolio owner
generates a higher risk as well, and vice versa. The mix of financial assets can range, and these can
include stocks, bonds, mutual funds, and cash equivalents. Stocks are considered the most volatile
of these options and thus generate the highest return/highest risk, with bonds being one of the safer
options, which only generate a low return/low risk.
A feasible set of portfolios refers to the possible combinations of financial assets that an investor
can have, according to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In contrast to portfolios with less diversification, which tend to be sub optimal and below the curve,
the efficient frontier curve outlines diversified portfolios that are optimal. This is depicted by the
graph attached.
{See Graph 1}
As outlined in the example diagram provided by YoungResearch, the efficient frontier
adequately demonstrates the impact of diversification, showing how it is a factor in
determining the curve s optimal portfolios, determined by the amounts of risk (measured by
standard deviation of annual returns) and return (average of annual returns). For example, a
portfolio with only 100% stocks would generate a large return of 12.5%, though also a large risk
of 17%. This is the opposite to a portfolio of 100% bonds, where the return would be smaller at
9%, though with significantly less risk at approximately 9%. Consider the bundle with 10% risk
and 10.75% return, which is the one composed of 50% stocks and 50% bonds. This may be
viewed as a more favorable option for the investor, as return is higher than a portfolio with only
bonds, though with less risk, compared to a portfolio with only stocks.
{See Graph 2}
B. Indifference curve; optimal portfolio
