My Experience At Tuskegee University
My experience began as early as college, when I used to volunteer with school going children in
orphanages, and would advise them on the social problems they faced in school. That is when I
decided that being a school counselor was the perfect job for me. Having started at an early age,
I find that my expertise does in fact lie in helping students deal with social pressure, and helping
them cope with the stress and frustration it brings. I have also been successfully able to help
students improve their self esteem by making them focus on past successes, so that they may be

time being creative and creating their own courses on the driveway, but encourage them to
practice their speech sounds. For example, you or your child could write or draw pictures of
speech words in each square of hopscotch, so that each time they jump on a square, they practice
saying the words.
I also love tracing bodies in chalk and decorating them with funny faces, clothes, etc. This gives
your child opportunity to describe the person, label items, or tell a story about what the person is
doing.
2.Scavenger Hunt
Scavenger hunts are so fun and can be so beneficial for speech and language goals. For a child
working on speech sounds, you could hide objects or pictures with their sound and let them find
them as fast as they can! As they find them, they can say the word 5 times or describe where it is
using prepositions ( under the trampoline ). They can also practice inferences or guess where the

Durkheim divided the world in to the sacred which holds important significance such as a cross,
and the profane which is just an ordinary object that holds no significance (Stevens, William J,
2008). According to William J Stevens, while Durkheim had removed God from religion, he still
felt it was a positive force that could unite a society under similar beliefs and values (Stevens,
William J, 2008). Bronislaw Malinowski found that religion can perform a function of creating
societal solidarity due to religion being a psychological response to the needs of society during
times of anxiety (Stevens, William J, 2008). Malinowski also stated that religion can provide
security when one is faced with situations that may be out of their control (Stevens, William J,
2008). Talcott Parsons added to this by stating that religion makes the values of a society legitimate
(Stevens, William J, 2008). This could in turn also cause conflict amongst society which would
serve as a dysfunction such as the religions in the United States creating a battle against the liberal
secular movement (Schaefer, Richard T, 2009, pg 337).

I picked The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County , because I thought it looks
interesting from reading my classmate Mini s thoughts on Discussion Forum Unit 5. I felt a
little out of sorts after reading The Bet , but I knew The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras
County was the story with same bet theme and I tried to read it for a change. The Celebrated
Jumping Frog of Calaveras County has an as told to framework. A talkative man named Simon
Wheeler relates to Mark Twain (the narrator) the story of a gambler named Jim Smiley and the
amazing animals Smiley used in his schemes (Wilson, 1997, p18). Jim Smiley made a bet with
the stranger. He offered to bet forty dollars that Dan l Webster (frog) could outjump any frog in
Calaveras County. But the stranger is a con artist, he spooned buckshot into Dan l Webster s mouth
that he is unable to jump. Consequently, Jim Smiley had lost the wager. He found out soon after,
but it was too late. I didn t like it or hate this story at first. This was quite a humorous story, but I
hate racing between animals by constraint. After that, I knew this story provided relevant and

I needed to consider the story from various viewpoints and study English more for that. As stated
above, I think this story is good study for foreigners to learn American literature, social
