Nouvelle rubrique depuis le numéro 13 de votre journal, Parole au patient vient de notre envie d’aller à la rencontre des patients dans un autre cadre que celui de notre travail quotidien. Pas un entretien, mais plutôt une conversation avec ceux qui ont l’expérience de la maladie, et des soins en psychiatrie. Dans ce numéro, c’est dans un service de Grenoble que nous avons eu le plaisir d’aller rencontrer MJT, qui a accepté de répondre à nos questions, de nous raconter des petits bouts de son histoire. Nous la remercions de tout coeur.
1. Quel a été votre premiercontact avec la psychiatrie ?
Mon premier contact avec la psychiatrie, j’avais 14 ans. C’était après un long voyage en bateau de la Martinique au Havre. J’avais été malade pendant le voyage, je me plaignais beaucoup du ventre. On a cru que j’avais le mal de mer, j’ai vu des médecins de bord qui ne trouvaient pas ce que j’avais. En face de la cabine de mes parents, il y avait un médecin psychiatre à la Martinique qui rentrait en métropole. Il avait dit à mes parents : « Si on ne voit rien, c’est qu’elle fait une crise d’angoisse ». Encore maintenant je souffre beaucoup du ventre, et on me dit « c’est psychosomatique ». J’ai su après que ma mère, en rentrant de la Martinique sur le bateau des années avant, avait fait une tentative de suicide. Est-ce que c’est ça dont je me suis souvenu ? J’ai commencé à me rendre compte que j’avais une maladie mentale, à l’hôpital Sud quand j’avais 17 ans. Je suis tombé malade pour la première fois, après avoir fait une tentative de suicide. J’y suis restée jusqu’à mes 28 ans, à sortir, rentrer, sortir, rentrer. Depuis j’ai connu également l’hôpital de Saint-Egrève, plusieurs pavillons, je les ai fait tous… ça fait 39 ans de psychiatrie maintenant.
