Cooperative Learning And Cooperative Learning
I believe every learner is exceptional and gains knowledge in their own unique way. Well, one learner
may learn best visually, another may learn best kinesthetically and then another may learn best
verbally. Therefore, you shouldn t restrict yourself to teaching in just one way either. It is imperative
that you approach a concept in various ways and give the learner several opportunities to explore the
concept. I believe that the student should take ownership in the learning process and the teacher
should be a facilitator of knowledge in the classroom. Therefore, the teacher should assist the learner
to their highest potential and encourage them along the way and give them prompt feedback. Learners
should collaborate together to build upon their prior knowledge and share their ideas and hypothesizes
on various concepts. I believe the learner should be evaluated on a competence based model.
A cognitivism theory that aligns with my belief statement is cooperative learning. Cooperative
learning is where students work in small groups on a common task or project while the teacher acts as
a facilitator (Coffey, 2017). In my belief statement I stated, learners should collaborate together and
build upon their prior knowledge, this is the core of cooperative learning.
A behaviorist theory that would coincide with my beliefs in prompt feedback. Behaviorist believe in
conditioning and rely completely on reinforcement (Weibell, 2011). The experimenter or teacher

Daft (1997) states that failure to do so may result in unsatisfied stakeholders withdrawing their

2.2 Strategic Transformation
The S curve (Figure 3), allows businesses to predict the rise and fall of new product life cycles within
their market or industry. Whilst the airline industry in itself is in the maturity stage, the low fare
segment is currently in the growth stage. Gaining in popularity over the past few years, the low fare
segment is slowly reaching out to the masses and shedding its traditional negative impression of
compromising on safety and service quality. A growing middle class in the region, with increased
standards of living and disposable income and an appetite for travel combined with increasing fuel
prices and resultant ticket prices by traditional carriers have led to growing acceptance and preference
for such low cost carriers. Figure 3: S Curve

Qualitative Research Questions
3.1 Case study: There are several research methodologies such as survey or questionnaires, case
studies, grounded theory and ethnography notably used in the field of social sciences, education, arts
and psychology. For this dissertation, research methodologies selected are qualitative research
methods by interviews and case study approach.
According to (Yin 2003) a case study allows investigators to focus on a case and retain a holistic and
real word perspective with (Simons 2009) adding that its primary purpose is to generate in depth
understanding of a specific topic. To put it differently, (Stake 1995) states a case study is both a
process of inquiry about the case and the product of that enquiry. The case study selected for this

For this dissertation, a semi structured interview is conducted as (Galletta and Cross 2013) suggested,
a semi structured interview is sufficiently structured to address specific topics related to the
phenomenon of study, while leaving participants to offer new meanings to the study focus. The
interview questions are open ended to ensure more in depth response s from participants without
restriction. The interview comprises of 16 questions. The responses or answers received will be
analyzed and brought forward to answer the research questions as in chapter one. The interview
questions emerged from understanding the literature and formulation of the research questions. This
interview questions will be asked to subject matter experts working in medical device industry
irrespective of the size of the organization and to medical device consultants who are also subject
matter experts in quality regulations for medical device. The selection or recruitment of the

Kramer Vs Kramer
Kramer Vs. Kramer is a film about family relationships, especially focusing on the relationship
between a young father, Ted, and his son, Billy. Devoting most of his time to his career, Ted was a
successful executive in an advertising company but he ignored his family. His wife, Joanna, who gave
up her career after giving birth to Billy, felt depressed and empty as a housewife. One day, Joanna
decided to leave home and divorced with Ted. Ted struggled with balancing his work and family life
after Joanna left. Gradually he built a close relationship with his son. This essay analyzes this film
from the perspectives of life course theory, ecological theory and dynamic theory.
Life Course Theory The life courses include the development and the changes of the various
trajectories, such as family life, education, work and social life over time (Newman Newman, 2016).
In this film, the life change of the Kramer family started with the ... Show more content on

That is to say, the individuals are not passive recipient, but rather, they are capable to adapt with the
changes and adjust themselves. This argument is also demonstrated in the film. For example, feeling
trapped by the role of mother and wife, Joanna finally made her own choice to leave home and
restarted her life. Facing with the separation of parents, Billy at first had conflicts with his dad, but
gradually accepted him and lived happily under the protection of his dad. Similarly, when the role of
being a responsible father conflicted with the role of being a promising business executive, Ted chose
his son and sacrificed his career. Admittedly, Joanna s leave was a turning point to their life, but their
later life paths were not solely the result of this life event. Instead, it was also the results of their own
adjustments to the life

Route 91 Rape
Route 91 is a country music festival held in Las Vegas, Nevada. The festival starts September 29th and
leads into October ending on the first. Route 91 is held annually and many country artists participate
in the event, not only do many artists come to perform but people come from all over. It began in 2014
at the Vegas Village being able to hold up to thousands of people, with 15 acres plenty of people can
pile in. The festival is surrounded by plenty of famous hotels making it easier for guests to access the
attraction and other ongoing events. Four years later on October first, 2017 tragedy struck. Just about
an hour or two into the concert people started hearing loud bangs. At first, several people thought it
was fireworks not knowing they would be victims in one of the biggest mass shootings. Jason Aldean

American Dream Argumentative Essay
In 1937, James Truslow Adams coined the term American Dream in his book The Epic of America.
Adams stated the American Dream was a land of opportunity for everyone. In this utopia, every man
and woman is able to reach their highest potential in employment, housing, and family regardless of
birth or position, because they worked hard and earned it ( What is The American Dream? ). Ever
since 1937, Americans have had this idea in their head of finally achieving the American Dream with
their spouse, house, white picket fence, 2.5 kids, and movement up the socioeconomic ladder. It is
what people whisper at night as they leave their war torn streets for a better life. Yet in the past few
years, that dream has begun to crumble. I believe Millennials are waking up to see that this dream
utopia is flawed.
Homeownership is a double edged sword. It is the American Dream to one day own a house.
Compared to their predecessors, Millennials are seeing the advantages and disadvantages of
homeownership at an earlier age. These early generations believed owning a house was the cherry on
top to being an all around American and achieving the American Dream . As a cynical generation who
grew up with information at our fingertips and the world falling around us, millennials see
homeownership differently. The cautious and conservative approach to home buying displayed by
millennials is driven by the fact their outlook on life was shaped by a number of bad things when they
were young the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center in 2001, the 2008 financial crisis, the
housing bust with mass foreclosures and a weak recovery that has so far provided incomes below that
of prior generations (Stowe England, 36). We learned that the world was not fair and that it is time to
redefine the American Dream to reflect our current economic society.
Owning a house comes with various responsibilities, many of which Millennials cannot absolve.
Firstly, homeowners set down roots by owning a house. Previous generations knew that once they
bought this house they would live there until the end of their days. Millennials do not experience that
type of lifestyle, especially in a job market where they might be required to move outside of

Individualism In The House On Mango Street
Let your home be your mast and not your anchor, said Kahlil Gibran, exposing the unneeded focus on
materialism to keep people in a harsh cycle of poverty. Expressing an idea that materialistic should not
force stigma and should show individualism, Gibran provides insight into the bullying through goods.
In this way, he relates to Cisneros s ideas through the usage of a house as a metaphor for good created
feelings of shame. In Sandra Cisneros s House on Mango Street, Esperanza s contesting views on her
impoverished house demonstrate that she accepts her role in poverty, one of being left helpless and
exploited by callous bullies and one of shamed individualism. Using Esperanza s view of her house as
an unlikable symbol that deteriorates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During one of Esperanza s wishful daydreams, she delineates what she wants to own, saying, A house
all to my own. With my porch and my pillow (Cisneros 43). Perpetuating my , Esperanza shows that
she wants her house to show that she is an individual who is not to be shamed by what she lives in.
This image of individualism is expanded through the stress on own . In a similar fashion, while
thinking about foreign neighborhoods, Esperanza thinks, All brown all around, we are safe. But watch
us drive into a neighborhood of another color and our knees go shakity shake and our car windows get
rolled up tight and our eyes look straight . Esperanza shows that she feels safe when there is all brown
all around , further emphasizing her point of being an individual. The usage of the home in this case
represents a flaw of Esperanza and how it is bad to be in a different home than her. Later, Cisneros
utilizes Esperanza s fantasy of her aspiration to own her house, One day I ll own my own house, but I
won t forget who I am or where I came from. Passing bums will ask, Can I come in? I ll offer them the
attic, ask them to stay, because I know how it is to be without a house . Her house acts as a
compassionate being, such as her dream is to be. It also represents her desire to remain sturdy and

Amistad Case
Introduction This paper will show that the importance of the Amistad case, while not only important to
the individual members of the original 53 enslaved men, was also important when it came to the world
view of a newly formed government and a country that had recently gained its own freedom from
oppression. T will show that the basic laws set forth by our Declaration were keystone not only in this
case, but in the foundation of our most basic of rules that so many had fought and died for to win and
maintain. Our right to be free. Fifty three slaves were abducted and shackled, headed from Eastern
Africa in 1839 to a destination of Havana, Cuba. At port in Havana, the 53 Africans were deemed

To make a valid claim of salvage, a claimant must prove: the event involved a ship and its cargo, or
things committed to and lost at sea or other public, navigable waterways; the ship or its cargo have
been found or rescued; the service performed by claimant must have been of benefit to the property
involved in the rescue. A salvor (one who salvages) must have the intent and capacity of committing a
salvage, but does not need have the intention of keeping the property. The salvor need not have even
given physical assistance to the rescue of the ship or property. (Random House Dictionary, 2014) The
most common cases of salvage involve ships that are in danger of sinking or ones that have been
abandoned. The Amistad claimants argued that the death and murder of the crew could also fall under
the category of a salvage, and therefore gives them rights to the ship and cargo under those laws.
(SafeSea, 2014) This was the most crucial point of the argument in the case of the Amistad. Was the
salvaged property of the ship up for consideration under the salvage laws, and were the 53 captured
slaves, part of that

The Darling By Anton Pavlovich Chekhov
All throughout time women have been seen as lesser equals to men. For most individuals it has been a
natural instinct to assume the roles of women. However, making these assumptions is degrading and
unjust. While some women try and object the status quo, others accept it and continue on with their
lives. In The Darling by Anton Pavlovich Chekhov, the protagonist Olenka can be seen as a prime
example of the perfect women. In Chekhov s short story, a young Russian woman named Olenka
marries twice after the death of each husband. Soon after each husband passes, Olenka begins to
isolate herself until she discovers a new person to fall in love with. This pattern reveals that Olenka
relies on others for satisfaction and acceptance. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

him. Olenka loved Kukin and had soaked in every single bit of him, but without his presence she was
left at a standstill. After she had received the news of his death, Olenka was devastated and had
nothing exciting to live for. And for a second time, a man in her life whom she cherished had died.
However, after only three months of grieving, Olenka had met another male figure in her life named
Vassily Andreitch Pustovalov. For Olenka, this had once again given her the optimism to see through a
fulfilling future with a partner by her side. Immediately after meeting Vassily, a timber merchant, she
befriends him and becomes infatuated with his presence. The speaker goes on to state that After seeing
Olenka to her gate, he said good bye and went on. All day afterwards she heard his sedately dignified
voice, and whenever she shut her eyes she saw his dark beard. She liked him very much (Chekov). In
these lines it is evident that Olenka was desperate for affection once again, and craved to be desired by
someone else. Finding such an immediate connection when meeting someone for the first time is odd,
especially considering her husband had just passed three months prior. To no surprise Vassily visited
Olenka three days later, which ensured her that a marriage was to be arranged. Just as in Olenka s

What Is My Name Essay
A name is not just what you re called, it is who you are. It is what you stand for and ultimately defines
you as a person. Growing up, I used to think my name did not fit me and that nothing that my name
stood for had anything to do with me. Now that I am older, I understand the real meaning of my name
and how the traits that are connected with my name relate to the person that I have become and
continue to develop into. My name represents who I am and who I plan to be. According to
kabalarians.com, the name Riley represents a seek in change, new opportunities and new challenges.
With this description, I feel as though my name fits who I am. Growing up my life changed
frequently; even though I hated how much it did change back then, it has made me the person I am

my honest opinion and will not back down. In many situations in my life, it has been very important to

divorced I had to choose which parent I wanted to live with and I couldn t choose just to make that
one parent happy. When a friend needs me, I will help them and give them the answer that they may or
may not want to hear. However, it helps them come up with a decision on what they need to do. Some
could say that being blunt is a bad thing, however when a friend asks for advice it is better to give the
answer straight up than to beat around the bush and give them the answer that they may want to hear.

Emergent technology. The National Education Technology Plan 2010, issued by the United States
Department of Education, asserted the lives of today s students are occupied with technology that
mobilizes 24 hour, 7 day a week access to information and resources, facilitates creation of sharable
multimedia, and permits participation in learning and collaborating with people worldwide. Student
opportunities are without limits and offer immediate feedback. Hence, technology integration has
profoundly altered the pedagogical practices of the classroom (Shieh, 2012). Given this challenge, the
U.S. Dept. of Education (2010) contended that there is a necessity to leverage progressive technology
in order to create engaging, relevant, and personalized learning experiences for all learners that mirror
students daily lives and the reality of their futures (p. x). Smith and Evans (2010) explained how
technology empowers students to pursue opportunities to learn on their own. Students desire to
interact and acquire knowledge from their own personalized network of experts, utilizing modern
communication and collaboration tools that are not bound by time and place.

Winston Churchill Leadership
Oftentimes, the best leaders are those who are willing to step up and face the daunting tasks that no
one else will. As Prime Minister of England during World War II, Winston Churchill s leadership left a
permanent mark upon history. Many believe that without him, the Allies would have lost the war. In
the words of John C. Maxwell, Leaders become great not because of their power, but because of their
ability to empower others. Churchill prided himself in having courage in all things and possessed the
unique ability to provide others with courage also. He led the British empire through battle after battle
tirelessly, saying, Continuous effort not strength or intelligence is the key to unlocking our potential.
To him, there was no use saying we are doing our best. You have got to succeed in doing what is
necessary. Although it was almost certain that Britain would lose World War II, Churchill provided the
willpower needed to stand against Germany and engendered a motivated and hardworking
government, as well as an inspired nation.
Winston Churchill s headstrong resiliency in the face of danger defined his career as a war leader.
Former Prime Minister David Cameron states, He was an incredible leader for our country, and indeed
for the whole free world, at an impossibly difficult time. (1). Five months before his inauguration,
Churchill gave his speech House of Many Mansions wherein he urged the then Prime Minister Neville

Giovanni Gabrieli Research Paper
Giovanni Gabrieli was a legendary composer of the 16th century. As the fundamental structure and
ideas of the Catholic Church were being challenged by the Protestant Reformation and the Counter
Reformation, Gabrieli s compositions were given the opportunity to be successful and influential to
music in the coming centuries. His works helped to transform not only church music of the Catholic
Church, but also secular music as well. Giovanni Gabrieli wrote significant works that ultimately
shaped the rise of the symphony, including the development of purely instrumental works, the art of
orchestration, and the concerto style. Without his innovations in composition, it is arguable that
instrumental music would not have developed as quickly, or developed ... Show more content on

This led to several rebellions, which were silenced for a short time until they could not be repressed
anymore. Finally, in 16th century, Martin Luther and other reformers challenged Roman Catholic
authority and their corruption of the church, which is now known as the Protestant Reformation. The
revolts happened in many different countries the western world, however, they all had fundamental
ideas in common. Two changes they called for were the end of the church s hierarchy, and the
emphasis of everyone being able to access and individually learn the original Biblical scriptures in
their vernacular language (Taruskin, pg. 207 208). Even though the focus of this revolution was not
about music, the ideals ended up influencing church music. Many composers, including Martin
Luther, endeavored to make music more accessible by translating it into the common, everyday
language, shifting the singing in church services to the congregation rather than just having the choir
sing, and making music simpler for everyone to grasp. Luther wrote music in the form of chorales and
strophic union hymns that were taken from Gregorian chant (Taruskin, pg. 206 210). In response to
the Protestant Reformation, the Counter Reformation emerged out of the Catholic Church. Music took
on a more inspirational quality, and its primary goal was to affect the listener. Polychoral music was
very popular, in addition to the concerted style (Taruskin, pg.

Eyewitness Testimony Experiment
The aim of this experiment is to investigate the effect of leading questions on eyewitness testimony
when asked to estimate the speed that a car is travelling in an accident. Participants were asked two
questions in total. The first question was regarding the speed of the car with contrasting verbs
(crashed/collided), the second question asked was whether there was any glass at the scene of the
accident.
The hypothesis predicted that changing the language used in eyewitness testimony will affect memory.
The DV was the participants estimated speed of the vehicles, and the IV was the noun that was
changed in the leading question (crashed/collided). The independent measures design was chosen, and

Speech On Diet And Nutrition
Anyone who is on a quest to live a long and healthy life should understands how important diet and
nutrition are to achieving the physically healthy body. Most of us delve deep into exercise and healthy
eating but we gloss over the topic of nutrition. There is a distinction that should be made between diet
and nutrition, these two concepts are mutually exclusive. Dieting involves making sure we eat right,
cut out the fats and the carbs, count daily calorie intake in our quest to either lose weight or get back
to a healthier size. Nutrition looks at the food we eat. It has to do with what our body derives from
what we feed it in terms of nutrients.
In order to understand the role of food in your life you need to be educated about the kinds of food
you should be eating and those that you need to steer clear of. The Cardinal Rule when it comes to
food and fitness is that you need food to function, food is the fuel that will get you through your

The Cleveland Cavaliers that swept the top seeded Toronto Raptors out of the postseason in dominant
fashion looked completely different from the Cavs team that eked out 50 wins in the regular season.
And with good reason: The bulk of Cleveland s postseason minutes have gone to, quite literally, a
different team. Through the first two rounds of the playoffs, the Cavaliers have leaned heavily on a
five man lineup that had never shared the court before.
In the team s series against the Pacers and Raptors, Cleveland s most used lineup has been George
Hill, J.R. Smith, Kyle Korver, LeBron James and Kevin Love. So far this postseason, they ve logged
110 minutes together. That s 110 more than they played together in the regular

The Walking Dead Psychology
The Walking Dead is a horror/drama television series based on the comics written by Robert Kirkman.
This is a show about the rest of the world trying to survive the zombie apocalypse. But, is there more
to this series than just the blood, gore, and death? Yes, it seems there truly is more to this series. The
Walking Dead is about many things including: family, friendship, love, forgiveness, and learning who
to trust, it s not just filled with horror as some may believe. Rick, one of the main characters, quickly
learns that he has been betrayed by his own wife and best friend. This is where the plot thickens and
the true meanings in this show start to come into play, but first let s take a few steps back. After
waking up in the hospital alone ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All they have is each other, and they are being forced to watch their loved ones be ripped apart by
these monsters. They have no time to grieve because the family they just lost is now one of them, a
flesh eating zombie. Here comes the blood and gore, or from a different angle, love and respect for
their family. What do they do now that the one they ve lost has turned into a zombie? They must kill
them of course. Some see an act to keep themselves alive, and I absolutely agree, but a true fan can
put themselves in their shoes and realize that they only want the best for their family. To keep them
from being this horrible creature they must kill them, and they do it out of love. By doing this they get
the chance to grieve and give this person a proper burial, well as proper as it can be in this life. This
family keeps going no matter what. They lose people, but they also meet new people. At times, they
find this shocking to learn they are not the only people left. It seems like if you found another living
person in this world you would be thrilled, but surprisingly some people aren t. This group has had
multiple bad experiences with new people, but it has taught them all a valuable lesson, not to trust

Tommy John Misconceptions
Tommy John surgery is arguably one of the greatest innovations in medicine during this past century.
It has helped extend the careers of many professional and amateur athletes by reconstructing a worn
down and damaged ligament, Carroll (2013). But there has also been a lot misconceptions when it
comes to this surgery as well. Not about whether or not it is successful or safe, but more along the
lines of the expectations of the results of the individual having the surgery post operative, Dodson
(2015). Along with that, there s a popular misconception about having the surgery when it is not
necessary, Longman (2007).
If you are a fan of baseball, you have definitely noticed the overwhelming popularity of Tommy John

J.k. Rowling s The World Of The Olympics
Quidditch in the Olympics
Introduction
Would it interest you to know that the newest game in the Olympics was going to include flying on
booms 200 feet in the air and smacking away balls that are hurdling towards you at 70 miles per hour?
I would personally be VERY interested, but sadly we have to settle and fight for the next best thing.
Grounded (or mugglized, as the Potterheads would call it) Quidditch.
History of Quidditch
The sport quidditch was first played in 2005 at Middlebury College by Harry Potter fan, freshman
Xander Manshel. Xander had been looking for something he could start that showed his appreciation
for his love of sports and his love of J.K. Rowling s best selling book series, Harry Potter.
Once Xander got a team together it s popularity started to grow around campus and six more teams
were formed. In 2006 quidditch players told their friends about the newest sport and quidditch s
popularity grows to more campuses. In 2007 the first quidditch world cup is held between Middlebury
and Vassar community colleges. Quidditch becomes one of the most popular clubs on campuses.
Quidditch continues to grow in popularity up until 2010 when the USQ (United States Quidditch) is
established as the first nonprofit quidditch organization.
Description Of Quidditch
In the Harry Potter series the protagonist, Harry, is chosen to be on his school s quidditch team. Harry
s quidditch team has most of the same rules as the modern teams but his are a little bit more

Sports Social Media Analysis
Social media has proved to be a vital tool wherein businesses, and a host of other organizations get to
converse directly with customers/audience, therefore resulting in an unparalleled level of fan
engagement. Sports clubs and franchises have seized the opportunity and leveraged this incredible
marketing strategy, working towards the common aim of creating a passionate, invested fan base (Du
Plessis, 2013). Dr. Alyssa Tavormina, a faculty member of Florida University s sports management
program, mentions that fans do not only interact with sports franchises via social media, but also
athletes have accounts which enable millions of fans to connect personally with them. This direct
conversation has allowed fans to engage in the sport franchise activities. For example, the Florida
Gators engaged a huge fan base via the social media approach, by launching the #GatorAlways
campaign where fans shared their own personal experience of being a Gator fan. Nonetheless, Dr.
Tavormina mentions that most of the sports franchises lack a comprehensive understanding of user s
needs and motivations in social media. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Effects Of Hip Hop Music On Adolescents
Effects of Hip Hop Music on Adolescents Music is a significant part of the lives of most people all
over the world. In the United States, people listen to more than 25 hours each week [1]. Hip hop
makes up a large percentage of adolescent music genre preference. It goes without saying that this
overwhelming presence of music in the lives of so many people will have a psychological effect on
American culture and our way of life. But how exactly is Hip Hop affecting us psychologically and
culturally? The effects of music videos on adolescences have been the subject of controversy for
decades. The common reason for the concern has been appropriately summed by Arnett (a Research
Professor of Psychology at Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts), who explained, women are
used as props for the illusive life the music video is portraying the artist to have. The concern that hip
hop culture, as seen in music videos, has become heavily influential on young people s views of
sexuality. The concern about mainstream hip hop music and music videos sexualizing women, in
particular, is so omnipresent, many can even be referenced as rape culture by embedded sexual
violence in the lyrics being disguised as pleasurable elements of hip hop. The Kaiser Family
Foundation in the year 2001 reported that teenagers rank entertainment media as the main source for
information about sexuality and sexual health [3]. Descriptive language and sexual imagery in music

The During Battle And The War Wars
From the beginning of time, war has been used to conquer lands, establish order, enforce rules and

during battle and the war wars are fought are have constantly changed. Looking back to when
organized war truly began many distinct, and commonly used, improvements can be seen. Such as,

The walls of the chariot, or the box, were generally leather with a lightweight wooden frame. Within
the box were two men, a driver and a warrior. Projecting from the chariot was a long pole angled
upward and attached to a yoke , which was mounted on the horses backs. At first there were two
horses pulling each chariot, it is believed later on the setup was changed to fit four horses. On the right
side of the chariot, the driver s job was to control the horses and to get the warrior in the best position
to make his attacks. His attacks could be made with a bow and arrow, spear, mace, sword or dagger,
however the bow was normally a prime choice for the average warrior. A typical warrior riding into
battle was in full armor and ready to defend his chariot at all costs. The use of chariots spread very
quickly as their effectiveness was easily recognizable. The Shang of China adopted the concept of
chariots and modified them to fit three men. These three men were made up of a driver, a warrior and
his servant whose role was to replenish his arrows and have weapons ready for his use at all times. In
the Chinese culture, the chariots were used as a way to jump into a new social class as well. Horses

Through the IR spectrum we can identify it as an isoborneol because it s basically a hydrocarbon with
a carbonyl. The C H stretching around 3000 wavenumbers, there isn t much else you can identify.
Camphor is fairly simple, so there is no anything other than the carbonyl and some C H stretching.
The spectrum of isoborneol should show an OH peak, though because it s a solid sample, the peak
won t be as broad as those seen for OH peaks in liquid samples. My guess is that the peak at ~3600
wavenumbers is the OH group. However, in my result, the wave doesn t seem to be clearly showed. It
probably means that my isoborneol sample has retained some amount of the precursor, either because
the reaction didn t go to completion or because my purification procedure was inadequate.
Borneol and isoborneol contain an asymmetric carbon atom (denoted by an asterisk), and therefore
each of them exists in two optically active forms and one inactive racemic form ( , +, and ±). Borneol

Tina Turner s Rolling Down The River
Rolling Down the River Fascinated, I watched those big wheels turn, and I could almost hear Tina
Turner on the Riverboat Queen! The big wheels were turning, and I was thrilled to be exploring
Vancouver s first major highway, the Fraser River, by Paddle Wheeler. Usually, my preferred mode of
transportation is a sea kayak or canoe, but recently I had the opportunity to supersize my watercraft
and experience the Fraser in style. Launching near the River Market at New Westminster Quay, I
excitedly boarded the M.V. Native, an authentic replica of a sternwheeler that historically navigated
the waters of the Fraser River from 1863 to 1921. As I made way down the ramp, I felt as though I
was being transported back in time. Vivid images of pioneers, fur traders and gold miners flashed
before me. These magnificent sternwheelers were the workhorses of their time, carrying freight and

BPD tweets. We wanted to observe the impact of BPD tweets on the users before they retweeted the
BPD tweet and after they retweeted. By doing this we wanted to capture the shift in sentiment among
the users, which would give us the impact of BPD tweet. In order to do the above analysis, the tweets

The next step was to observe the sentiment among the users, before and after they had retweeted. We
aggregated the before set for all users corresponding to a particular tweet and generated a set of 145
files. Similarly we generated a set of 145 files for After set as well. Then we used LIWC to generate
the sentiment score for files corresponding to each BPD tweet. Thus for each of the 145 BPD Tweet,
we generated sentiment score of before and after , and so we have 290 rows of data as an output by
LIWC. When we request Topsy for 200 retweeters of a particular BPD Tweet, we got a random
sample of 200 retweeters. For some of these users, the retweets were outside our time interval of
consideration. Therefore the number of users considered is not the same across all BPD tweets, it is
always a number less than 200. Therefore we added 2 new columns for analysis, the number of users
considered and the total number of tweets considered. Later we divided the BPD tweets into two
segments 1. Incident related (The tweets by BPD which spoke about the incident and things related to
it) 2. Informational (The tweets by BPD which were sent out to public about the road being blocked or
about parking related etc.). The reason for dividing into 2 segments was to further observe the
difference of impact on users by these tweets, with the help of sentiment scores generated

Benefits of Organic Food
The Benefits of Organic Food Draft #1 Organic food, once only found in health food stores, is now a
consistent element at local supermarkets. So what is the difference between a conventionally grown
apple and an organic one? The answer is in the way the crop is grown and what it is and is not exposed
to.
In order to be labeled organic the farmer who grew it used renewable resources and conservation of
soil and water methods. Also, organic farmers do not use conventional pesticides or weed killers,
which may contain synthetic ingredients or sewage sludge. According to Fisher, Sewage sludge from
municipalities waste may contain heavy metals and toxins . . . (1). Rather, organic farmers use

Compacted soil can result in soil that is unable to create a run off surface. If this happens, the water
will be unable to seep into the soil and irrigate the crop. Tractors passing over soil can cause this
compaction to occur, which is why tilling is a more effective way to stir up the soil. And as a bonus,
tilling can help get rid of weeds, so it is a win win.
Pesticides and preservatives are not only harmful to human beings, but they are also harmful to our
environment and ecosystems. Pesticides used in organic farming may run off and contaminate nearby
bodies of water. If enough contaminated run off from pesticides and artificial fertilizers get into water,
it is able to poison animals and fish that live there. According to Raloff, recent studies have
demonstrated that exposure to hormones has a substantial effect on the gender and reproductive
capacity of fish, throwing off the natural cycle, (1). This is not only harmful to the animals that live
there, but if enough fish are dying because of poisoned run off, the fish industry could suffer and it
will affect humans as well. The same chemicals that poison bodies of water could seep into our
groundwater and affect the well water we drink and use daily. This does not happen with organic
farming, because no chemicals are ever sprayed on the fields and there is much more run off because
of tilling practices.
Organic farming does not only include crops. There is also organic eggs and meat produced by
livestock

Internal And External Factors Of Cultural Diversity
In everyday business life managers are faced with different interpersonal problems in various business
environment situations, like negotiations or just business meetings. These problems can arouse from
various sources. The diversity of different personalities in business environment can lead to
communication problems and misunderstandings. Allport (1961) defines personality as | ... the
dynamic organization within the individual of those psychophysical systems that determine his
characteristics behavior and thoughts. . Literature is considering internal and external influential and
interaction factors regarding personality development. Internal factors nature (innate instincts), e.g.
biology and genetics and external factors nurture (parental influences), e.g. the environment and
culture (Bandura, 1977; Freud 1961).
In this case analysis I will focus on external factors of personality that are shaped by culture. What
does culture mean in social psychological view? Triandis (1994) defined culture as a set of human

thought to be a safer alternative than chlorinated hydrocarbons, such as DDT. Malathion degrades into

8 Exposure effects of Malathion on our health as humans and our environment depend on how much

Many Thanksgiving celebrations today are still centered around getting together with family and
friends and giving thanks. The term Black Friday was first used, according to US News Digital
Weekly, in 1869 in reference to a stock market crash on the day after Thanksgiving that year. US
News Digital Weekly says that it was again used in 1951 to describe the high number of workers that
skipped work that day. Eventually, employers started giving workers the day after Thanksgiving as a
vacation day. In turn, many of the workers used this day to start their shopping for the holiday season,
making the day after the Thanksgiving a day that many stores started making huge profits. If a

The Cost Of Real Estate Essay
For the past several years, the housing market has been mutually beneficial for both buyer and seller.
The cost of real estate has risen but has maintained or gained value. People who have owned their
home for quite awhile are seeing astronomical amounts of money to be made off the sale of their
home, and so the market has been inundated with housing for sale. It leads us to wonder whether this
boom is heading for the crash. Is now still a good time to buy? If so, what type of property will
continue to gain value? Will new buyers end up stuck in their home as the value drops? As a
homeowner, I am nervous about the state of the real estate market. This is not the house my family
wants to call its home forever, but could we get stuck here? Yes, we could. If the housing market
drops, then so will the amount of money we could potentially make off the sale of this house. If it
drops enough then it would be possible to end up owing money upon the sale. Unless you are
independently wealthy, you hope to make money off the sale of the home to help finance the purchase
of the next home. Real estate agents will tell you that now is still a good time to buy. While it is
speculated that the market will drop within the next year or two, if you are willing to sit on your new
purchase for several years, an upswing will occur again. There is never any guarantee that you will

Teams For A Team Based Organization
INTRODUCTION
In many organizations, employees work together in structures commonly known as teams.
Organizations utilize teams for a number of reasons (e.g., greater output, quality enhancements, or

comprising the team {ex. managers, front line workers} or what the team is supposed to achieve {ex.
to make decisions, develop a new product, deliver a service}. Some of the many types of teams found
in organizations include top management teams, cross functional teams { Bikson, 1996}, self

1990}, international task forces { Waite, 1998} and virtual teams {Hiltz, Johnson, Turoff, 1986,
Lumsden }. Despite investing heavily in teams, many organizations appear far from satisfied with
their decision to become team based (Dumaine, 1994). This is mainly due to the overall effectiveness
of their teams and how their effectiveness tends to vary. At one end of the continuum, teams can be
highly performing and produce outputs beyond the capabilities of its individual members. At the other
end, however, they can fail dismally. Outputs for example are not produced on time or in some
instances, not at all. Further, when outputs are delivered, they can be of such a poor quality, the
reputation of the organization and the team members are effected. In the worst case scenario, these
poor quality outputs can

Arrested Development Essay
21) Arrested development is a term used to describe a person who has not fully developed emotionally
and has become stuck at a certain emotional level. The term has had different meanings over time and
in the field of medicine, it was used to describe someone who had stopped developing physically. In
the UK, the 1983 mental health act suggested that arrested development was a type of mental disorder
where someone who was mentally impaired at a severe level had less intelligence than someone who
wasn t. Many researchers have not agreed with the theory that mental development can be arrested or
stopped and have considered the idea that mental status can grow in other ways. Consequentially in
psychological terms, when referring to a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Stagnation involves a minimal amount of interest in work or self improvement, a lack of concern for
young people and putting your own security and comfort over personal sacrifice and challenge. There
are many events that can be part of the midlife change, such as children leaving home and starting
their own life, changes at work that can affect their career, family members or friends becoming ill or
passing away and a body that is slowly getting older and not behaving in the same way it used to when
that person was younger. These are all normal events that happen as a part of life, but during midlife
these changes are far more prominent. Fear of loss and change can often cause people to try and
manage this decline and slow down the impact of these natural events, but then that person can
become mired in stagnation and fear. They keep thinking about the past as a coping mechanism for not
moving forward and looking towards the future. If a person has a fear of change and they are not able
to let go of things and move forward, it can make them want to remain in this fixed state, even if they
are suffering. This fear of change can trap people into a nostalgia that keeps them thinking about past
times that they believe were better or constantly talking about what they had before. If a person suffers
a loss such as a bereavement, a relationship or friendship ending, a

A Vast And Complex Subway System Into Causeway Bay
You are stepping out of the MTR a vast and complex subway system into Causeway Bay, a shopping
square usually filled with commuters and tourists. Normally filled with shoppers and commuters,
thousands are now standing in the middle of the street blocking oncoming traffic. People stay in tents
overnight occupying the square, shouting, and rallying around a common belief. Democracy. They are
protesting against China s government who had promised them democracy and haven t given it.
Suddenly police show up and order them to disband; they refuse. After hours of standoff, the police
pull out their sticks and their tear gas and attack. Peaceful protesters are arrested and scattered. Every
two years I walk these very streets. We visit family, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From watching the news and looking at social media I know the gist of what happened. I know that
the people were protesting China, who was appointing the nominees for their leader when the people
wanted to pick the nominees for themselves and believed that it was promised to them by China in
their agreement after buying them back by Great Britain. After weeks of protest, police started getting
violent, using tear gas, and sticks, as well as arresting the protesters. From the point of view of the
people of Hong Kong, China was oppressing the people and breaking the deal they had with them.
Watching both Chinese and American news channels, many people side with the protesters and that is
likely due to the fact that they also have prior biases. I wish to learn more about both sides and be able
to objectively decide who was at fault, who crossed the line, and ultimately do the people have a right
to protest? I want to answer questions like What was the deal made between the two places? Was
China being too harsh on the people? Was a compromise possible and ultimately, what was the
outcome of the protests? I believe that my research process will go well because these protests were
very well reported and discussed. The sources I hope to use are sources such as new articles,
interviews, and primary sources.

The Evidence of Unbound Loyalty in Oliver Twist
As young Oliver, ill treated and hungry, approaches his masters saying Please, sir, I want some more
(Dickens 11), Charles Dickens enthralls his readers in the harsh, twisted journey of Oliver Twist.
Through a series of exciting events full of abuse, loyalty, hatred, and love, Dickens portrays the
overlooked difficulties of the poor, lower class that Oliver Twist s action packed life has been subject
to. Some of Dickens most loved characters, including the adolescent pickpocket under the pseudonym
the Artful Dodger, the brutal Bill Sikes, devoted Nancy, and the criminal mastermind Fagin, are all
presented in his entrancing Oliver Twist. Dickens does a brilliant job of manipulating his characters
into acts of heinous crimes, life risking encounters, and joyous memories all the while unfolding an
unimaginable ending to his superb tale. Although Dickens presents many captivating ideas, the focus
of this particular monograph will concentrate on the unfailing loyalty of his characters and how this
faithfulness will lead to their benefit or downfall. Before delving too deep in detail however, a brief
summary must be presented.
Oliver is born an orphan into a workhouse in a quaint little town about 70 miles outside of London,
England. Oliver spends the first eight years of his life abused and neglected in a child farm ran by the
parish, and soon after is sent off to slave away

An Interpretation Of Two Behavior Therapy Methods For...
An interpretation of two behavior therapy methods for patients with Social Phobia
Social Phobia is the fear of being embarrassed or being judged by others. This fear restricts the person
from living their everyday lives. It is also characterized as a type of anxiety disorder. A greater part of
patients who inhibit this disorder report encountering adverse images, these negative images are
connected to memories from the past in which the person experienced a traumatic event. The behavior
therapy used in this article is imagery rescripting (IR), this therapy concentrates on altering the
significance of the undesirable memories. Therefore, the objective of imagery rescripting is to lessen
the discomfort of the past memories that affect present experiences. This is done by identifying their
negative events as secluded events in the past, therefore, the negative experiences the patient
encountered in the past no longer hold the focal point in patient s life or anyone in their environment.
Imagery rescripting is distant from other therapies because this therapy restores the essence of the
patient s traumatic memory by proposing a compassionate mindset.
Six patients were extracted from successive referrals for anxiety disorder from PsyQ, a mental health
center located in Netherlands. Patients categorize from 21 to 47 years, both male and female, having 1
to 18 years of duration of social phobia, as well as having good standing levels of education. Each
patient is struggling with

children who do not have a home. Even though Eleanor s parents were affluent, she did not get any of
that wealth . Moreover, her mother called Eleanor grandma and the other kids called her ugly duckling
. Even in the beginning of her life, she did not get any affection from her mother. Eleanor s parents
wanted a boy instead of a girl; she was the disappointment in her parent s lives. The only person that
cared for her was Eleanor s father. He told her to be brave, well, and educated in any situation so one
day he will be proud of her. After Eleanor s father died, Eleanor by all means wanted to support

Analyzing Networked Control Systems For Network Induced...
Abstract Networked Control Systems (NCS) are the control systems in which the control loop is
connected through a communication channel. There has been an increased attention to the use of
Network Control System (NCS) in recent years because of their cost effective and flexible
applications. But one of the major issues that need to be studied and solved in NCS is the delay of the
data transmission which occurs throughout the communication network in the system and thus
degrades the control system performance and also causes the system instability. This paper basically
presents an analysis of network delay in NCS. In this paper, we have designed a model of delay
control system for network induced delay using the simulation model of network control system delay
and thus analysed the effect of network delay on the performance of the control system. The TrueTime
toolbox of Matlab/Simulink is used for simulating the NCS model.
Keywords networked control system, network delay, control performance, truetime, stability
I.INTRODUCTION
In conventional control systems, control signals are sent over the loop using analog or digital
technology whereas in modern control systems, the control loop is closed through a real time
communication network by T. C. Yang et al. [1]. The Networked Control Systems (NCSs) are the
distributed control systems in which the system components (sensors, actuators and controllers) are
connected by communication networks [2]. One

Parkinson s Disease And The Disease Of The Nervous System
Definition: Parkinson s disease is a chronic, progressive disease of the nervous system characterized
by the cardinal features of rigidity, bradykinesia, tremor, and postural instability (O Sullivan and
Schmitz, 2007). The condition can develop between age group 60 and 80 years and symptoms mostly
appear around 60 years of age (O Sullivan and Schmitz, 2007).
Parkinson s disease or PD is classified into idiopathic Parkinson s disease, parkinsonism due to
identifiable causes and parkinsonism in other neurodegenerative disorders. True Parkinson disease is
classified into two subclinical groups. One group demonstrates postural instability and gait
disturbances as dominant symptoms whereas the other group exhibits tremor as the prominent feature
(O Sullivan and Schmitz, 2007).
Pathophysiology:
Parkinson s disease is affected by the degeneration of dopaminergic neurons which is responsible to
produce dopamine. Dopaminergic neurons have their cell bodies in substantia nigra pars compacta
(SNpc) in basal ganglia (O Sullivan and Schmitz, 2007). Basal ganglia are a collection of
interconnected gray matter nuclear masses deep within the brain . These gray matter masses are
caudate, putamen, globus pallidus, subthalamic nucleus and the substantia nigra. Basal ganglia receive
its input through striatum (O Sullivan and Schmitz, 2007).
Clinical Presentation:
1. Rigidity: Rigidity is defined as increased resistance to passive movement. Parkinson patients
complain of heaviness or

  • 2. Cooperative Learning And Cooperative Learning I believe every learner is exceptional and gains knowledge in their own unique way. Well, one learner may learn best visually, another may learn best kinesthetically and then another may learn best verbally. Therefore, you shouldn t restrict yourself to teaching in just one way either. It is imperative that you approach a concept in various ways and give the learner several opportunities to explore the concept. I believe that the student should take ownership in the learning process and the teacher should be a facilitator of knowledge in the classroom. Therefore, the teacher should assist the learner to their highest potential and encourage them along the way and give them prompt feedback. Learners should collaborate together to build upon their prior knowledge and share their ideas and hypothesizes on various concepts. I believe the learner should be evaluated on a competence based model. A cognitivism theory that aligns with my belief statement is cooperative learning. Cooperative learning is where students work in small groups on a common task or project while the teacher acts as a facilitator (Coffey, 2017). In my belief statement I stated, learners should collaborate together and build upon their prior knowledge, this is the core of cooperative learning. A behaviorist theory that would coincide with my beliefs in prompt feedback. Behaviorist believe in conditioning and rely completely on reinforcement (Weibell, 2011). Whilst the airline industry in itself is in the maturity stage, the low fare segment is currently in the growth stage. Gaining in popularity over the past few years, the low fare segment is slowly reaching out to the masses and shedding its traditional negative impression of compromising on safety and service quality. A growing middle class in the region, with increased standards of living and disposable income and an appetite for travel combined with increasing fuel prices and resultant ticket prices by traditional carriers have led to growing acceptance and preference for such low cost carriers. Qualitative Research Questions 3.1 Case study: There are several research methodologies such as survey or questionnaires, case studies, grounded theory and ethnography notably used in the field of social sciences, education, arts and psychology. For this dissertation, research methodologies selected are qualitative research methods by interviews and case study approach. According to (Yin 2003) a case study allows investigators to focus on a case and retain a holistic and real word perspective with (Simons 2009) adding that its primary purpose is to generate in depth understanding of a specific topic. • 7. Kramer Vs Kramer Kramer Vs. Kramer is a film about family relationships, especially focusing on the relationship between a young father, Ted, and his son, Billy. Devoting most of his time to his career, Ted was a successful executive in an advertising company but he ignored his family. His wife, Joanna, who gave up her career after giving birth to Billy, felt depressed and empty as a housewife. One day, Joanna decided to leave home and divorced with Ted. Ted struggled with balancing his work and family life after Joanna left. Gradually he built a close relationship with his son. This essay analyzes this film from the perspectives of life course theory, ecological theory and dynamic theory. Facing with the separation of parents, Billy at first had conflicts with his dad, but gradually accepted him and lived happily under the protection of his dad. Similarly, when the role of being a responsible father conflicted with the role of being a promising business executive, Ted chose his son and sacrificed his career. • 9. American Dream Argumentative Essay In 1937, James Truslow Adams coined the term American Dream in his book The Epic of America. Adams stated the American Dream was a land of opportunity for everyone. In this utopia, every man and woman is able to reach their highest potential in employment, housing, and family regardless of birth or position, because they worked hard and earned it ( What is The American Dream? ). Ever since 1937, Americans have had this idea in their head of finally achieving the American Dream with their spouse, house, white picket fence, 2.5 kids, and movement up the socioeconomic ladder. It is what people whisper at night as they leave their war torn streets for a better life. Yet in the past few years, that dream has begun to crumble. I believe Millennials are waking up to see that this dream utopia is flawed. Homeownership is a double edged sword. It is the American Dream to one day own a house. Compared to their predecessors, Millennials are seeing the advantages and disadvantages of homeownership at an earlier age. These early generations believed owning a house was the cherry on top to being an all around American and achieving the American Dream . As a cynical generation who grew up with information at our fingertips and the world falling around us, millennials see homeownership differently. The cautious and conservative approach to home buying displayed by millennials is driven by the fact their outlook on life was shaped by a number of bad things when they were young the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center in 2001, the 2008 financial crisis, the housing bust with mass foreclosures and a weak recovery that has so far provided incomes below that of prior generations (Stowe England, 36). We learned that the world was not fair and that it is time to redefine the American Dream to reflect our current economic society. Owning a house comes with various responsibilities, many of which Millennials cannot absolve. Firstly, homeowners set down roots by owning a house. Previous generations knew that once they bought this house they would live there until the end of their days. Millennials do not experience that type of lifestyle, especially in a job market where they might be required to move outside of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Individualism In The House On Mango Street Let your home be your mast and not your anchor, said Kahlil Gibran, exposing the unneeded focus on materialism to keep people in a harsh cycle of poverty. Expressing an idea that materialistic should not force stigma and should show individualism, Gibran provides insight into the bullying through goods. In this way, he relates to Cisneros s ideas through the usage of a house as a metaphor for good created feelings of shame. In Sandra Cisneros s House on Mango Street, Esperanza s contesting views on her impoverished house demonstrate that she accepts her role in poverty, one of being left helpless and exploited by callous bullies and one of shamed individualism. During one of Esperanza s wishful daydreams, she delineates what she wants to own, saying, A house all to my own. With my porch and my pillow (Cisneros 43). Perpetuating my , Esperanza shows that she wants her house to show that she is an individual who is not to be shamed by what she lives in. This image of individualism is expanded through the stress on own . In a similar fashion, while thinking about foreign neighborhoods, Esperanza thinks, All brown all around, we are safe. But watch us drive into a neighborhood of another color and our knees go shakity shake and our car windows get rolled up tight and our eyes look straight . Esperanza shows that she feels safe when there is all brown all around , further emphasizing her point of being an individual. The usage of the home in this case represents a flaw of Esperanza and how it is bad to be in a different home than her. Later, Cisneros utilizes Esperanza s fantasy of her aspiration to own her house, One day I ll own my own house, but I won t forget who I am or where I came from. Passing bums will ask, Can I come in? • 11. Amistad Case Introduction This paper will show that the importance of the Amistad case, while not only important to the individual members of the original 53 enslaved men, was also important when it came to the world view of a newly formed government and a country that had recently gained its own freedom from oppression. T will show that the basic laws set forth by our Declaration were keystone not only in this case, but in the foundation of our most basic of rules that so many had fought and died for to win and maintain. • 12. The Darling By Anton Pavlovich Chekhov All throughout time women have been seen as lesser equals to men. For most individuals it has been a natural instinct to assume the roles of women. However, making these assumptions is degrading and unjust. While some women try and object the status quo, others accept it and continue on with their lives. In The Darling by Anton Pavlovich Chekhov, the protagonist Olenka can be seen as a prime example of the perfect women. In Chekhov s short story, a young Russian woman named Olenka marries twice after the death of each husband. However, after only three months of grieving, Olenka had met another male figure in her life named Vassily Andreitch Pustovalov. For Olenka, this had once again given her the optimism to see through a fulfilling future with a partner by her side. Immediately after meeting Vassily, a timber merchant, she befriends him and becomes infatuated with his presence. The speaker goes on to state that After seeing Olenka to her gate, he said good bye and went on. All day afterwards she heard his sedately dignified voice, and whenever she shut her eyes she saw his dark beard. She liked him very much (Chekov). In these lines it is evident that Olenka was desperate for affection once again, and craved to be desired by someone else. Finding such an immediate connection when meeting someone for the first time is odd, especially considering her husband had just passed three months prior. To no surprise Vassily visited Olenka three days later, which ensured her that a marriage was to be arranged. Just as in Olenka s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The National Education Technology Plan 2010, issued by the United States Department of Education, asserted the lives of today s students are occupied with technology that mobilizes 24 hour, 7 day a week access to information and resources, facilitates creation of sharable multimedia, and permits participation in learning and collaborating with people worldwide. Student opportunities are without limits and offer immediate feedback. Hence, technology integration has profoundly altered the pedagogical practices of the classroom (Shieh, 2012). Given this challenge, the U.S. Dept. of Education (2010) contended that there is a necessity to leverage progressive technology in order to create engaging, relevant, and personalized learning experiences for all learners that mirror students daily lives and the reality of their futures (p. x). Smith and Evans (2010) explained how technology empowers students to pursue opportunities to learn on their own. • 16. Winston Churchill Leadership Oftentimes, the best leaders are those who are willing to step up and face the daunting tasks that no one else will. As Prime Minister of England during World War II, Winston Churchill s leadership left a permanent mark upon history. Many believe that without him, the Allies would have lost the war. In the words of John C. Maxwell, Leaders become great not because of their power, but because of their ability to empower others. Churchill prided himself in having courage in all things and possessed the unique ability to provide others with courage also. He led the British empire through battle after battle tirelessly, saying, Continuous effort not strength or intelligence is the key to unlocking our potential. To him, there was no use saying we are doing our best. You have got to succeed in doing what is necessary. Although it was almost certain that Britain would lose World War II, Churchill provided the willpower needed to stand against Germany and engendered a motivated and hardworking government, as well as an inspired nation. Winston Churchill s headstrong resiliency in the face of danger defined his career as a war leader. Former Prime Minister David Cameron states, He was an incredible leader for our country, and indeed for the whole free world, at an impossibly difficult time. (1). Two changes they called for were the end of the church s hierarchy, and the emphasis of everyone being able to access and individually learn the original Biblical scriptures in their vernacular language (Taruskin, pg. 207 208). Even though the focus of this revolution was not about music, the ideals ended up influencing church music. Many composers, including Martin Luther, endeavored to make music more accessible by translating it into the common, everyday language, shifting the singing in church services to the congregation rather than just having the choir sing, and making music simpler for everyone to grasp. Luther wrote music in the form of chorales and strophic union hymns that were taken from Gregorian chant (Taruskin, pg. 206 210). In response to the Protestant Reformation, the Counter Reformation emerged out of the Catholic Church. Music took on a more inspirational quality, and its primary goal was to affect the listener. Polychoral music was very popular, in addition to the concerted style (Taruskin, pg. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Eyewitness Testimony Experiment The aim of this experiment is to investigate the effect of leading questions on eyewitness testimony when asked to estimate the speed that a car is travelling in an accident. Participants were asked two questions in total. The first question was regarding the speed of the car with contrasting verbs (crashed/collided), the second question asked was whether there was any glass at the scene of the accident. The hypothesis predicted that changing the language used in eyewitness testimony will affect memory. On the right side of the chariot, the driver s job was to control the horses and to get the warrior in the best position to make his attacks. His attacks could be made with a bow and arrow, spear, mace, sword or dagger, however the bow was normally a prime choice for the average warrior. • 39. The Cost Of Real Estate Essay For the past several years, the housing market has been mutually beneficial for both buyer and seller. The cost of real estate has risen but has maintained or gained value. People who have owned their home for quite awhile are seeing astronomical amounts of money to be made off the sale of their home, and so the market has been inundated with housing for sale. It leads us to wonder whether this boom is heading for the crash. Is now still a good time to buy? If so, what type of property will continue to gain value? Will new buyers end up stuck in their home as the value drops? As a homeowner, I am nervous about the state of the real estate market. This is not the house my family wants to call its home forever, but could we get stuck here? Yes, we could. If the housing market drops, then so will the amount of money we could potentially make off the sale of this house. If it drops enough then it would be possible to end up owing money upon the sale. Unless you are independently wealthy, you hope to make money off the sale of the home to help finance the purchase of the next home. Real estate agents will tell you that now is still a good time to buy. While it is speculated that the market will drop within the next year or two, if you are willing to sit on your new purchase for several years, an upswing will occur again. There is never any guarantee that you will recoup the money paid for and put into a home. If you intend to purchase a home soon, it would be a good idea to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Teams For A Team Based Organization INTRODUCTION In many organizations, employees work together in structures commonly known as teams. Organizations utilize teams for a number of reasons (e.g., greater output, quality enhancements, or better decisions) and give them a range of labels depending on factors such as the members comprising the team {ex. managers, front line workers} or what the team is supposed to achieve {ex. to make decisions, develop a new product, deliver a service}. Some of the many types of teams found in organizations include top management teams, cross functional teams { Bikson, 1996}, self managing work teams {Cohen, Ledford, Spreitzer, 1996, Orsburn, Moran, Musselwhite, Zenger, 1990}, international task forces { Waite, 1998} and virtual teams {Hiltz, Johnson, Turoff, 1986, Lumsden }. Despite investing heavily in teams, many organizations appear far from satisfied with their decision to become team based (Dumaine, 1994). This is mainly due to the overall effectiveness of their teams and how their effectiveness tends to vary. At one end of the continuum, teams can be highly performing and produce outputs beyond the capabilities of its individual members. At the other end, however, they can fail dismally. Outputs for example are not produced on time or in some instances, not at all. Further, when outputs are delivered, they can be of such a poor quality, the reputation of the organization and the team members are effected. In the worst case scenario, these poor quality outputs can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The term has had different meanings over time and in the field of medicine, it was used to describe someone who had stopped developing physically. In the UK, the 1983 mental health act suggested that arrested development was a type of mental disorder where someone who was mentally impaired at a severe level had less intelligence than someone who wasn t. Many researchers have not agreed with the theory that mental development can be arrested or stopped and have considered the idea that mental status can grow in other ways. Stagnation involves a minimal amount of interest in work or self improvement, a lack of concern for young people and putting your own security and comfort over personal sacrifice and challenge. There are many events that can be part of the midlife change, such as children leaving home and starting their own life, changes at work that can affect their career, family members or friends becoming ill or passing away and a body that is slowly getting older and not behaving in the same way it used to when that person was younger. These are all normal events that happen as a part of life, but during midlife these changes are far more prominent. Fear of loss and change can often cause people to try and manage this decline and slow down the impact of these natural events, but then that person can become mired in stagnation and fear. They keep thinking about the past as a coping mechanism for not moving forward and looking towards the future. If a person has a fear of change and they are not able to let go of things and move forward, it can make them want to remain in this fixed state, even if they are suffering. This fear of change can trap people into a nostalgia that keeps them thinking about past times that they believe were better or constantly talking about what they had before. The Evidence Of Unbound Loyalty Sam Carlton Allison Boswell English 30 September 2014 The Evidence of Unbound Loyalty in Oliver Twist As young Oliver, ill treated and hungry, approaches his masters saying Please, sir, I want some more (Dickens 11), Charles Dickens enthralls his readers in the harsh, twisted journey of Oliver Twist. Through a series of exciting events full of abuse, loyalty, hatred, and love, Dickens portrays the overlooked difficulties of the poor, lower class that Oliver Twist s action packed life has been subject to. Some of Dickens most loved characters, including the adolescent pickpocket under the pseudonym the Artful Dodger, the brutal Bill Sikes, devoted Nancy, and the criminal mastermind Fagin, are all presented in his entrancing Oliver Twist. Dickens does a brilliant job of manipulating his characters into acts of heinous crimes, life risking encounters, and joyous memories all the while unfolding an unimaginable ending to his superb tale. Although Dickens presents many captivating ideas, the focus of this particular monograph will concentrate on the unfailing loyalty of his characters and how this faithfulness will lead to their benefit or downfall. Before delving too deep in detail however, a brief summary must be presented. Oliver is born an orphan into a workhouse in a quaint little town about 70 miles outside of London, England. Oliver spends the first eight years of his life abused and neglected in a child farm ran by the parish, and soon after is sent off to slave away ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 45. An Interpretation Of Two Behavior Therapy Methods For... An interpretation of two behavior therapy methods for patients with Social Phobia Social Phobia is the fear of being embarrassed or being judged by others. This fear restricts the person from living their everyday lives. It is also characterized as a type of anxiety disorder. A greater part of patients who inhibit this disorder report encountering adverse images, these negative images are connected to memories from the past in which the person experienced a traumatic event. The behavior therapy used in this article is imagery rescripting (IR), this therapy concentrates on altering the significance of the undesirable memories. Therefore, the objective of imagery rescripting is to lessen the discomfort of the past memories that affect present experiences. This is done by identifying their negative events as secluded events in the past, therefore, the negative experiences the patient encountered in the past no longer hold the focal point in patient s life or anyone in their environment. Imagery rescripting is distant from other therapies because this therapy restores the essence of the patient s traumatic memory by proposing a compassionate mindset. Six patients were extracted from successive referrals for anxiety disorder from PsyQ, a mental health center located in Netherlands. Patients categorize from 21 to 47 years, both male and female, having 1 to 18 years of duration of social phobia, as well as having good standing levels of education. • 47. Analyzing Networked Control Systems For Network Induced... Abstract Networked Control Systems (NCS) are the control systems in which the control loop is connected through a communication channel. There has been an increased attention to the use of Network Control System (NCS) in recent years because of their cost effective and flexible applications. But one of the major issues that need to be studied and solved in NCS is the delay of the data transmission which occurs throughout the communication network in the system and thus degrades the control system performance and also causes the system instability. This paper basically presents an analysis of network delay in NCS. In this paper, we have designed a model of delay control system for network induced delay using the simulation model of network control system delay and thus analysed the effect of network delay on the performance of the control system. The TrueTime toolbox of Matlab/Simulink is used for simulating the NCS model. Keywords networked control system, network delay, control performance, truetime, stability I.INTRODUCTION In conventional control systems, control signals are sent over the loop using analog or digital technology whereas in modern control systems, the control loop is closed through a real time communication network by T. C. Yang et al. [1]. The Networked Control Systems (NCSs) are the distributed control systems in which the system components (sensors, actuators and controllers) are connected by communication networks [2]. One ... • 48. Parkinson s Disease And The Disease Of The Nervous System Definition: Parkinson s disease is a chronic, progressive disease of the nervous system characterized by the cardinal features of rigidity, bradykinesia, tremor, and postural instability (O Sullivan and Schmitz, 2007). The condition can develop between age group 60 and 80 years and symptoms mostly appear around 60 years of age (O Sullivan and Schmitz, 2007). Parkinson s disease or PD is classified into idiopathic Parkinson s disease, parkinsonism due to identifiable causes and parkinsonism in other neurodegenerative disorders. True Parkinson disease is classified into two subclinical groups. One group demonstrates postural instability and gait disturbances as dominant symptoms whereas the other group exhibits tremor as the prominent feature (O Sullivan and Schmitz, 2007). Pathophysiology: Parkinson s disease is affected by the degeneration of dopaminergic neurons which is responsible to produce dopamine. Dopaminergic neurons have their cell bodies in substantia nigra pars compacta (SNpc) in basal ganglia (O Sullivan and Schmitz, 2007). Basal ganglia are a collection of interconnected gray matter nuclear masses deep within the brain . These gray matter masses are caudate, putamen, globus pallidus, subthalamic nucleus and the substantia nigra. Basal ganglia receive its input through striatum (O Sullivan and Schmitz, 2007). Clinical Presentation: 1. Rigidity: Rigidity is defined as increased resistance to passive movement. Parkinson patients complain of heaviness or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
