Tell about spring deadline too, but encourage June to be safe…March 30 th is still deadline to tell HS.
Can be used for hs credit too but you must let the high school know that you are doing that before the class starts and then ask for a transcript to be sent to high school once class is completed. Will not happen automatically.
Criteria for participation is the same for option B or for CIE – don’t forget talent clause
Do not have to just take math, science, english, social studies, etc…can take courses for fun like dance, scuba, computer gaming etc…almost any course you wish if you qualify…
There may be additional courses that might not be appropriate for a freshman or sophomore (or even juniors) based on high school graduation requirements and college degree requirements and students may be advised to wait to take those courses later. At the high school sites, some courses will be offered to upperclassmen first…
All students must take entire COMPASS assessment for placement into courses and as part of entrance requirements for the PSEO programs or submit ACT or SAT scores instead. Refer to ACT scores in packet when discussing Compass too.
Some schools will use the application itself as the “intent form” . If your child is in 8 th grade, section 2 of the application will be completed by the HIGH School counselor. Get the 7 th and 8 th grade transcript at the middle school but take to high school for completion. Presenter- ask high school counselor you are presenting at to tell you the deadline date they are giving to students.
Even though LCCC might allow a student to participate in spring if the app is turned in by October 15 th , the district can still say no if you haven’t indicated you wanted to participate by March 30 th !!!
Give ACT scores/ point out sheet in packet…
Once you have received an approval letter in the mail and tested you can meet with an academic advisor to schedule or go over test results or both.
PSEO orientations will be held at Midpoint, Wellington Center and at main campus
