 Allow high school students to complete their
  mandatory volunteer service hours (in meaningful
  manner)
 Foster a life long spirit of volunteerism and leadership
  in the teens
 Strengthen acceptance, understanding and interaction
  between different age groups
 Provide a neutral meeting place for seniors living
  independently
 Provide a low/no cost opportunity to foster art
  appreciation while learning and sharing art techniques
  and experiences – exhibitions?
 Program Location: meeting room at the Main (Mackenzie Street) Library
  Branch
 Program Length: 1.5-2 hours/week after school (3pm) for 6 weeks
 Program Activities: students will instruct, guide seniors in a variety of art
  techniques. First half of the course instruction, followed by work on a
  project of their choice using the new techniques.
 Media: watercolours, pastels, charcoal, pencil drawings, clay, mixed
  media/collages, etc.
 Participants: Seniors - 6 min. to 15 max.
 Minimum student to senior ratio=1:3 in order to allow personalized
  instruction and communication.
 Cost = ? Negotiable based on cost of supplies – possible donations from
  Sudbury Arts Council, Sudbury Secondary School/Rainbow District School
  Board
 To get early feedback on the program - the earlier the
  process begins, the more likely the program will be
  effective in the end.
 To clearly identify intended
  resources, outputs, outcomes and impacts
 To see if intended outcomes match observed initial
  outcomes
 Identify any unintended consequences/potential
  attribution issues influencing the program’s success
 To assesses the program’s strengths and weaknesses
  so that if necessary , you can help improve the
  program design and implementation.
Literature review and benchmarking to see
 what others are doing in Sudbury and
 elsewhere
Needs assessment and community readiness
 model
Program Logic Model
Other qualitative measures:
Focus groups with library
  users, seniors, students, arts community, etc.
Observations (make sure to record) of
  participants
Informal interviews with program participants
  and sponsors
Questionnaires to program participants and
  other community stakeholders
