Learning Sciences Studies in memory have shown that the  visual  is recalled more easily and more frequently than text One researcher, Paivio, has hypothesized that pictures yield a “dual coding” system:  perception + visual
Some Principles Regarding Effective Use  of Images and Text Richard Mayer (2001) Multimedia Principle Students learn better from words and  pictures than from words alone.
