These Faculties make up about 18% of Total Application:
AGRIC EDUCATION ARTS & HUMANITIES LAW/LEGAL STUDIES
The implication of this is far reaching;
 Would we have enough FOOD to Feed Ourselves?
 Would we have enough TEACHERS to Teach our Kids
 Would we have enough WRITERS to Challenge our Minds?
 Would we have enough LAWYERS to Defend our Causes?
Beside the fact that Private Universities did not attract
much patronage, Faculties of Agriculture and Education
attracted the least candidates.

GROWING INTEREST IN SCIENCE,
TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING, MATHEMATICS
UTME APPLICATION TREND BY FACULTY (%)
 Faculties of Agriculture, Arts, Education, Engineering, Environmental
Sciences, Law, and Sciences have all maintained some level of
consistencies in terms of their UTME Application trend.
 Faculty of Administration have suffered over 50% declining interests from
2011 till date; having enjoyed the most interest in 2011 with 22% of total
application, it now stands at a distant 5th position with 10% application.
 Medical Sciences have enjoyed a growing interest among Applicants;
moving from 15% in 2011, it now stands at 21%, second only to Social
Sciences at 23%.
 Social Sciences have equally maintained a consistent level of appeal to
Applicants; with 20% in 2011 it now sits as number one most desirable
faulty at 23% which it has also maintained since 2012 at 21%, 2013 &
2014 at 24%, and 2015 at 20%.
ADMINISTRATION:
Is this an indication that Nigerian
Students are losing interests in
Management courses?
Are we then ready to be importing
Managers/ Administrators in 10 to
20years time?
MEDICAL SCIENCES:
Nigeria is hugely challenged when it comes to adequacy
of Medical professionals and Facilities, therefore it should
be natural to train and recruit more Health Professionals.
However, the reality is that Admission Rate for Medical
Sciences is about the lowest (<5%) of all Faculties.

FACULTY AND SCHOOL OWNERSHIP These Faculties make up about 18% of Total Application: AGRIC EDUCATION ARTS & HUMANITIES LAW/LEGAL STUDIES The implication of this is far reaching;  Would we have enough FOOD to Feed Ourselves?  Would we have enough TEACHERS to Teach our Kids  Would we have enough WRITERS to Challenge our Minds?  Would we have enough LAWYERS to Defend our Causes? Beside the fact that Private Universities did not attract much patronage, Faculties of Agriculture and Education attracted the least candidates.

  • 30. UTME APPLICATION TREND BY FACULTY (%)  Faculties of Agriculture, Arts, Education, Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Law, and Sciences have all maintained some level of consistencies in terms of their UTME Application trend.  Faculty of Administration have suffered over 50% declining interests from 2011 till date; having enjoyed the most interest in 2011 with 22% of total application, it now stands at a distant 5th position with 10% application.  Medical Sciences have enjoyed a growing interest among Applicants; moving from 15% in 2011, it now stands at 21%, second only to Social Sciences at 23%.  Social Sciences have equally maintained a consistent level of appeal to Applicants; with 20% in 2011 it now sits as number one most desirable faulty at 23% which it has also maintained since 2012 at 21%, 2013 & 2014 at 24%, and 2015 at 20%. ADMINISTRATION: Is this an indication that Nigerian Students are losing interests in Management courses? Are we then ready to be importing Managers/ Administrators in 10 to 20years time? MEDICAL SCIENCES: Nigeria is hugely challenged when it comes to adequacy of Medical professionals and Facilities, therefore it should be natural to train and recruit more Health Professionals. However, the reality is that Admission Rate for Medical Sciences is about the lowest (<5%) of all Faculties. WATCH OUT: UTME APPLICATION TREND FOR COURSES & UNIVERSITIES
