 A new creature is starting to appear in the organizational environment,
sometimes hesitant and tentative, sometimes boldly and proudly
proclaiming the value of its presence and the need for similar creatures
to step out and be recognized.

This fabled creature is the human-resources strategic business partner.
While there is no consensus as to how this creature behaves, there is no
denying the fact that a call is being heard throughout the world -- a call
for existing and aspiring HR strategic business partners to step forward
and claim their rightful roles in the upper echelons of the organizational
hierarchy.

Those who aspire to join this fledgling herd often wonder what they can
