• Urban entertainment centre (UEC) can be defined as
family-oriented entertainment destinations.
• These centres combine shopping and recreation with
entertainment to form an overall experience.
• Retail needs entertainment to draw people in and
entertainment needs retail to support the overall
operation.
• The goal of an urban entertainment centre is to create
tax revenue, or to sell food, or merchandise, for the
visitor the overriding concept is to have fun.

NEED OFTHIS PROJECT
 To provide better entertainment and shopping
facilities to tourists (both domestic and foreign) in
Mysore.
 Most cities in Karnataka have reasonable shopping
and entertainment facilities like amusement parks
etc. However, there is no integrated centre where
the visitors can take the advantage of
entertainment as well as retail shopping.

• The proposed site belongs to this urban region.
• Foundation in black cotton soils may be Strip or pad
foundation, Pier foundation or Under reamed pile
foundation. The preferred type of foundation is under
reamed pile foundation.
• Site has very gentle slope, Slope Pattern: 0-5% therefore
generally flat hence is highly buildable.
• Mainly bushes, weeds and eucalyptus trees are seen on the
site, needs more plantation.
• As Mysore city is located in the tropics, the weather of
Mysore is pleasant throughout the year.
• The topography of the site is such that the entire site
drains storm water into Varuna canal which is adjacent to
the site.
• The site needs buffer zone from the railway track part
side.
• For the convenience of the pedestrian visitors it is
necessary to provide foot over bridge over the main
roads.

The preferred type of foundation is under reamed pile foundation. • Site has very gentle slope, Slope Pattern: 0-5% therefore generally flat hence is highly buildable. • Mainly bushes, weeds and eucalyptus trees are seen on the site, needs more plantation. • As Mysore city is located in the tropics, the weather of Mysore is pleasant throughout the year. • The topography of the site is such that the entire site drains storm water into Varuna canal which is adjacent to the site. • The site needs buffer zone from the railway track part side. • For the convenience of the pedestrian visitors it is necessary to provide foot over bridge over the main roads. CONCLUSION / INFERENCESWOT ANALYSIS STRENGTH Heritage city continues to attract increased number of visitors Industries and IT sector attracts youth as a employee. WEAKNESS Land development encroached upon the lung space of the old city. Commercial construction around the old city reducing green and open spaces. OPPORTUNITIES Improved tourist infrastructure would provide tremendous opportunities. IT sectors and traditional Mysore products attract visitors from all over the world. THREATS Existing facilities and civic amenities may not be sufficient for the increasing tourist inflow.
