Narrative Essay About My Graduation Party
My graduation party consisted of delicious food, as well as great fun. It was a warm sunny
summer day. I had just graduated from high school, so my family and friends wanted to celebrate
my achievement with me. My parents booked my party at a place not too far from my home. My
parents, my little brother, and I loaded the car with a variety of food. After we loaded the car, we
took off for my party's location. Once we pulled into the parking lot of the building I dashed into
the building with arms full of pots that my mom's pulled chicken filled, relish tray, chips and dip,
and the beautiful bakery cake. My Grandma Matthias was the next one to arrive at my graduation
party with her homemade loaded macaroni salad, and chocolate covered strawberries. The next
people to arrive at my graduation party was my Grandma Kathy who brought my Grandpa Terry,
and my brother Austin, as well as bringing meatballs, cookies, homemade lemonade, and iced tea.
My Grandma Brad was the last person to arrive at my graduation party, and she brought my
cousin Ethan, my cousin Jack, and my Aunt Jen, as well as bringing her famous sausage and
potatoes, and beans. After a while, it was time for us to eat the amazing food that everyone made.
I was very happy when it was time to eat because of the pleasant aroma that built up in the
building from all the food. I made sure to try a bit of everything except the beans because I don't
really care for beans. The first thing I tried was my mom's pulled

Hello, we would like to welcome and thank all of you for being here with us tonight to celebrate
our high school graduation . It truly is an honor to be surrounded by so many significant people who
have impacted our lives immensely throughout our highschool years. We would like to thank the
wonderful people here tonight that we have the privilege to call our parents. Whether you are a
mother a father, grandma or grandpa, or an aunt or an uncle; we are here, graduating today because
of all of you.
We would like to start this speech off with a little comparison between what parents think and what
we, being the teenagers, think. It is well known that parents and teenagers have not been always
been known to agree on everything. Whether it was that haircut you got our that meal they tried to
feed you. Sometimes we just don't agree on everything. For instant, parenting in general, is often
described differently depending on who you ask. According to some parents, "parenting is 50%
love, 10% lies, 10% yelling and 30% unclogging toilets". To them, "parenting is basically just
listening to yourself talk because nobody else is.". However, according to some, well most
teenagers, "parenting is embarrassing us whenever, wherever 90% of the time". To us, "parenting is
having our own personalized cook, counsellor, chauffeur and bank". So yeah, there's a little bit of
controversy there. But parents, they're great, I mean, it is an huge understatement to say that you
guys are awesome! To

April Houghton Professor Forest English 1010 9/9/2014 Graduation During our lives, most of us
have hated getting up early. Whether we as humans enjoy mornings or not, we're always looking
forward to that unforgettable day. That special is high school graduation for me. Graduation is a
ceremony that recognizes students that have excelled through school. Graduation was one of the
best days of my life, perhaps even better than the day that I started college. There is no other day
like graduation where there comes this feeling of success, achievement, and excitement. People
think that graduation is exciting because they cannot wait to get out of high school. When the
time comes you realize that all the friends and relationships you have made is coming to an end
and now most of you all are going in separate directions. The hardest part for me was letting go.
Knowing that nothing was going to be handed to me anymore was one of the last things I wanted.
I did not want to separate from my friends and the only place I have ever known. Graduation day
was the busiest day of my life. The night before was filled with excitement. May 18, 2014 is when
my life changed. I realized that everything in life was going to be different once I walked across the
stage. I got up and started preparing around 6 a.m. even though graduation didn't start until 1 p.m. I
remember panicking all day because every little thing that could've gone wrong was going through
my head. I remember panicking because

Graduation Day Essay
For most people their graduation day is one of the best days of their lives. No more high school,
and for some it means that they are now able to move out on their own and embark on the
independent journey of college. In my case my graduation day started out to be a great day but
turned out to be one of the worst. It is almost as if I wish I never had a ceremony. If there wasn't
graduation ceremony there wouldn't have been an accident. On June 13, 2011, I woke up a happy
and excited 17 year old for it was my graduation day and that meant no more high school, no more
nagging teachers, and no more drama. I met my friends and my boyfriend Andrew in the school
parking lot and away we went to practice graduation. After we had practiced...show more content...
After we had walked out and took our seats I couldn't help but to stare at the empty seat next to
me and wonder where he was at. I called his house but no one picked up. After calling a repeated
amount of times his friend Ryan was able to get through to his parents. His parents had told Ryan
that there was an accident and after we graduate they will tell us where Andrew is at. As soon as
Ryan got off the phone he told me not to worry and that he probably broke his leg or something
and that he was in a hospital somewhere and that we will know where after we get our diplomas.
After a couple of speeches and a few diplomas later it was almost my row's turn to walk across the
stage and claim our diplomas. Right before we were to stand up and walk toward the stage I got
the worst news of my life. I got a call from Andrews frantic older brother. He asked if I had walked
yet I told him no and demanded to know where Andrew was. After a few minutes of heavy breaths
I heard the words, " Jenn, Andrews.... Andrews dead." The words echoed in my ears. I dropped
my phone and just sat there. I couldn't move, speak or even cry, I just sat there and stared. After a
few minutes I guess you could say it hit me. The tears came rolling off my face. Advisors and
school employees' ran to me

High School Graduation Rates Essay
In urban priority school districts, educators emphasize the importance of graduation. The expectation
of all educators should be that every child can learn and will graduate. It is through graduation that
society begins to combat poverty. In New Haven Public Schools, where graduation rates are higher
than comparable districts in the state of Connecticut, they are not inclusive of all public school
students. It is through collaboration with the University of Chicago and the Consortium on School
Research that freshman on–track indicators have been defined and implemented in one high school
in the city. It is the purpose of this study to determine the effectiveness of the use of early warning
indicators to increase the high school graduation...show more content...
Research Questions
What are the freshman on–track rates for the current 12th grade students and all subgroups contained
within the cohort; and are there discrepancies in subgroups? How do these rates compare to the
current ninth grade cohort?
How do current 12th grade students who were on–track per the defined freshman on–track
Indicators in their ninth grade compared to the current ninth grade cohort upon their graduation in
2021, and according to all identified subgroups?
To what extend is the freshman on–track indicator a predictor of high school graduation, college
enrollment, and college persistence with both of these cohorts of graduates?
Literature Review
Success is attainable by all students except when circumstances of one's environment prevent
forward movement. If access to graduation is equitable and attainable, students will be prepared to
enroll and persist in college thereby increasing their opportunities for success and high qualities of
life. Swanson (2009) reiterates a focus of the Obama campaign on graduate rates as most important
because the diploma is not only a source of economic benefit but of preparation for global
competitiveness. Increased graduations rates stand to serve an increase in national economy while
lifting students most at risk from poverty. The impact of education on poverty is found through
increasing access to graduation. Swanson (2009) suggests that attainment of higher levels of
education is not enough, the

My High School Graduation Speech
Math was always a subject that I struggled with throughout all of my years in school. This was
actually brought to my attention when I was getting ready for my high school graduation party a
few years ago. I was putting together an album of various pictures and other documents of things I
had collected throughout my life, from Prekindergarten to my senior year of high school. Some of
these documents included school projects, documentation from my school of how much I 'd grown
in a year, and most importantly my report cards. While looking at them, I realized, how consistently
average, or in some cases below average, I was in math.
I had also struggled with many of my other subjects in elementary school. I had to attend after
school tutoring for both math and reading, and was pulled out of my classroom for extra help with
reading. As well as, I attended summer school once. While I eventually learned to enjoy reading, I
always dreaded math. It wasn 't uncommon for me to start crying while doing my math homework
every night.
One thing I specifically remember about math was in third grade. We were learning multiplication
and we had to watch videos that took place in a classroom and it assigned different classroom
objects to a specific number. For example, the flag was the number three. So, I specifically
remember the video asking us something like, "Multiply the flag times the moose." Somehow, this
was supposed to be how we learned to multiply. I remember having trouble

My High School Journey
At the beginning of my high school journey, it was scary. Just the thought of a new school,
meeting new people, and the fact that this would be my last years before becoming an "adult" and
getting closer to college, was unbelievable, yet scary. My high school journey had many ups and
down. These ups and downs vary because I experienced them in my academics and socially. I can't
forget that I learned a lot and met many different personalities, with people whom I trust and had
many great times. Also as growing up throughout high school, I'm slowly seeing who I am. I know
this is not the end of life, just a great piece of my life will end and everything will soon change
again. I can give so many advices to just start off great at the beginning of anyone's high school
journey. I think it's important to join clubs, activities,or sports so you can meet new people. It's
important to surround yourself with people who will take their education seriously because at the
end of high school, you will see how far you got by being surrounded with positive people and
that's a benefit because you concentrate and achieve excellent grades and that leads to good
colleges. Also, joining more clubs and participating looks great with your cap and gown at the
graduation! Another advice is do NOT procrastinate, I have done it so many times and it sucks to
sleep late and wake up early and by doing so, you avoid stress which is a pain in the butt. Do your
homework, get good grades, and ask

High School Graduation
I can still remember it like yesterday. It was June 6, 1994, the day of my high school graduation.
This day is the single most important day of my life.
This day was so important to me because it was the first thing I had to work really hard on to
accomplish. For the first time in my life I felt as if I really could succeed in something. It helped to
change my life. It started out like just another day but things would quickly change. I woke up at
7:00 a.m., which is extremely early by my standards, with anticipation of the day I had been waiting
for. After sitting around for 3 hours I made my way over to Ludlow High School. The graduating
class was to be there for 10:00 a.m. to pick up our...show more content...

was seated. The time finally arrived . It was 7:00p.m. and the music had begun to play. We started
our slow march to the grandstands and I could here the crowd cheering. I looked up to take a look
at the audience and quickly found my family waving their hands around in excitement. It felt like
we had just won a sporting championship and had arrived home to our beloved fans. I sat through
about an hour of boring speeches which I could not tell you one single thing about. I tried to seem
interested in what was being said at the platform to my right but I just couldn't concentrate. My mind
kept wandering to the moment why
I was sitting through this nonsense. Finally I saw my principal stand up and then I knew it was time.
He gave a brief five minute speech and started calling out names. When my name was finally
called I had a funny feeling come about me. It was a feeling that I have not experienced since. My
heart felt like it dropped into my stomach and I got this cold shivering which produced goose
bumps all over my me. That brief moment had come and gone and now it was time to celebrate. Not
only was my high school graduation the first step in helping me

Graduation Speech : High School
While a necessary step in any dedicated academic's life, the graduation of high school is not always
a cakewalk to accomplish. With the obstacle of mental illness in my way, I found the task of
graduating high school and moving on to college to be a mammoth that I felt not healthy enough to
conquer. In the second half of my high school career, I found myself in physical and mental states
so poor that I missed approximately one third of my desk hours in my junior year. The possibility of
returning to school, let alone graduating with my class, seemed bleak. I returned to my high school
for my senior year with absolute intention of amendment. I began a prescription regimen of an
antidepressant and anti–anxiety medication and attending sessions of therapy regularly. The day of
my high school graduation felt like it was a fantasy; I could not believe that I had solved so many
of my problems and that I would soon be attending my college of choice. Most unbelievably, I had
only myself to thank. Although I emerged victorious, I am still a chronic, clinical sufferer of mood
and anxiety disorders. Looking back on my own story and having been able to talk to others like
myself, I now know that it is a story I share with many students. As a future educator, this common
theme of mental illness having such a negative impact on student success worries me. I believe that
the current, typical approach to a high school education may inherently be a

My High school Graduation Day Like many students, I waited for the day of my high school
graduation ever since I started high school. I waited for that day to come with patient. I also
wanted to see my parent's excitement, and the proud moments they have waited for. I didn't
believe that graduation will be very emotional. The emotional moments started when I put my
cap and gown on. Then the memories started to come, first thing that came to my mind was how
did I survive school with my ADD. I have always struggled with school due to my ADD. I was
passing my classes with average grades even though I was doing my best, and working hard on
my assignments. At the same time, I was feeling nervous thinking about walking down to the
stage and receiving my diploma. The more I was thinking about my big day, the more overwhelming
I became as I was going to start a whole new step in life. I was very proud of myself on that day. I
was very pleased that I celebrated that day with my family and friends, I was proud of myself
because I challenged myself to pass high School, and made my family proud. Then, as I walked to
the stage to receive my diploma, my heart was beating fast, and my face was turning red. When
the principal called out my name, I walked with pride, shook his hand, and got my diploma.
During these moments, I heard a loud cheering from family and friends. Then I walked down the
stairs, and held my diploma high toward the side my family were sitting, and their cheering got
louder, and I became happier. After I went back to my seat, I was looking at my diploma and
started thinking how I successfully folded one chapter in my life, and how to start opening a whole
new one by going to college. At that time, I was thinking about how excited college could be,
meeting new people, more mature, their thinking will be different. I also thought college will be
my new path way to real life. Moreover, I looked around at my friends as the ceremony was
getting close to the end. I was getting emotional as I had to say good bye to most of my friends, it
was very hard for me to think about not seeing some of them again because they were planning to
move and attend out of state college. The ceremony ended with throwing

Graduation Epidemic
My high school graduation was one of the saddest moments of my life. Although I was excited
about graduating, I did not know what I was going to do with the rest of my life. In Maya Angelou's
"Graduation," Angelou was excited and proud of all that she had accomplished. In Flannery O'
Connor's "A Late Encounter With the Enemy,"Sally Poker Sash was proud that she was finally
graduating and just wanted to show that off to all the "upstarts". In the two readings the pupils are
contrasting in a few different areas, and a couple of those areas are in pride and feelings that their
families have being involved in the graduation. In both of the readings the pupils have a great sense
of pride; however the pride is in...show more content...
Obviously Sash has not worked very hard and does not even care that she is graduating with a
degree, all that she is proud of is that she gets to show it off.
In both stories the main characters have family involved in their graduations, but they are involved
for entirely different reasons. Angelou's mother is proud and excited of her daughter's graduation. To
show this she gets started right away on her butter–yellow pique dress that all the girls are wearing
for graduation. Also on the day of graduation her mother makes a Sunday breakfast even though it
was only Friday. Another thing, her brother Bailey was also very happy for his sister. We get to
see his happiness for her when he gives her a box that is wrapped in Christmas paper. Bailey had
saved his money for months to be able to buy Angelou a soft–leather bound copy of a collection of
poems by Edgar Allen Poe. In contrast, the only person that Sash has is her grandfather General
Sash. "The General did not give two slaps for her graduation..." Also the General would not have
even gone to the graduation if Miss Sash had not promised that he would get to sit on stage.
Anytime, anyplace that the General can sit on stage, he is there. So it was not even about support,
it was about his selfish reasons just as much as it was Sally's. In concluding, every graduation is
different. The feelings that people have and the way that the families are involved are usually
different for

There Is No Success Without The Opportunity to Fail
High School graduation can be an exciting time in a student's life. It is a time when they
begin to experience the kind of freedom that comes along with growing up. This freedom allows
students to choose the type of college or University they would like to attend. It is necessary that
they understand how responsible they need to be with the freedom that is being offered to them.
When choosing what college or university they would like to attend, it may be tempting to want
to go to a school that is known more for the party scene. However, it is important to keep in mind
that to have a bright future, going to a party school may not be what is best for them. When
looking into colleges or universities it is imperative to ask oneself three questions, are the
students attending the school learning anything; what is the failure rate of the school they are
looking into; and what is the schools average cost of tuition.
Not only do students want to pick a good school for higher education, they will also want
to make sure that they are paying close attention to the instructions of their professors. When
students skip class or do not pay attention to the instructions given to them, they run the risk of
becoming another statistic for the average failure rate of the university or college they are
attending. William Deresiewicz, who wrote "The Miseducation of America" 4 January 2016,
believes that college is

Well, this is it, the day all of us have been waiting for has finally arrived. It seems like only
yesterday we were picking our noses and flicking them at innocent bystanders or yelling childish
phrases like, "Liar, liar, pants on fire!" or, wait, that was yesterday. Never mind. Anyways.
What I'm trying to say is the years, have flown by and it's not going to be long before we're in the
stands watching our kids graduate.
You know, there is a lot more to graduating than leaving Rufus and getting a diploma. It's more than
that. I mean, why do you think we get to wear these cool robes?

We are knocking on the door of total independence, something we have never fully understood. We
have just barely begun the trip on the roller coaster of life and already it seems like we've had quite
a ride. Some of us will go on to college, some will enter into the work force, and most of us are still
undecided. But whichever path we take, it won't be easy and believe me, a year or two from now
you're gonna wish you were back at good old LHS because the term "9 to 5" is going to take on a
whole new meaning, and I'll tell you right now it ain't gonna be pretty folks.
Our graduation is our coming of age, our right of passage. As we walk across this stage we are
writing the closing pages to our Chapter I and heading into the great unknown. It's kinda scary –– but
hey, don't you cry, even thoughhigh school is over, the times we've shared and the friends we've
made will never be lost. The clock is ticking, time is fleeting and nobody lives forever. But true
friendship is something we can count on never dying. I hope wherever we go in life it will be
happy and even if we all move to remote island countries we can all count on the memories and
laugh at all the stupid things we did.
So to the class of 06', I'd like to say thanks for the memories and good luck. You're gonna need it.
Now on behalf of all of us graduating seniors, I'd like to thank all of the parents for all of the

Increase High School Graduation Rates Essay
Proposal to Increase High School Graduation Rates Did you know that 1.2 million high school
students drop out of school every year just in the United States alone (11 Facts)? The decrease of
high school graduation rates is a fairly important issue, and there are plenty of reasons to propose a
change. According to the U.S. Department of Education, the current standard dropout rate of high
school students is 7.4%. High school dropouts encounter way more difficulties and challenges
than a high school graduate would. An average high school drop out lacks the basic education
that one needs in order to be successful in life. They are more likely to face problems dealing
with financial insecurity, communication skills, and of course, educational matters. With a high
school diploma, one is more likely to get hired for a job, earn a higher income, and educate
oneself even further. Some possible causes of high school students dropping out include stress,
boredom, family problems, pregnancies, and drugs. With that said, with every issue, there is
always a solution. By taking the problem at hand and looking at it from a broad perspective, we
can thoroughly identify the source of the high dropout rates of U.S. high school students. There are
countless factors that may be the cause of this epidemic, but a few ideas including making learning
more relevant, limiting the workload given to students, and providing mandatory classes on drugs
and safe sex may possibly be a solution to this

High School And Graduation Speech
It was my senior year in high school and graduation was inching closer and closer. My high school
principal stood on the stage of our auditorium introducing me as the recipient of the Principals Hall
of Fame Award. As he stated proudly "Desiree aspires to return to North Miami Beach Senior High
to teach science" it was hard for me to conceal my shock. How had he misinterpreted my future plans
into becoming an educator and even more, to returning to my high school? I was sure that this was all
a misunderstanding and I would continue on towards becoming the Neonatologist I had always
dreamed of, still connected to children but only in the first moments of their lives. Little did I know,
my principal was more in tuned to my destiny than I thought. I look back on this moment and it
supports my belief that education has always been my calling. From the beginning of my time at
Emory University, I have been involved in youth mentoring. Emory Reads was the quintessential
after–school program that brought college students into schools across Atlanta to offer a helping
hand to teachers. While participating in this program the issues I was studying in an Urban
Education course became real, in the form of an eighth grade student I met. This young girl was
extremely driven and had big dreams, she let me know right away of her plans to continue on to
college and become a doctor. While reviewing her homework I noticed an incorrect subtraction
problem and began to review it with her,

Graduation
Through out life people go through so many hardships. Whether it be good or bad there is always
something that comes out of the situation. One of the most exciting but yet scariest events would be
graduation. For a lot of people, graduating from high school is a goal. It takes a lot of time and
effort to achieve that goal. In the long run, it opens a lot of opportunities for people to succeed.
Graduation is the end of high school, and the beginning to life. I can almost remember that day like

Once I was finished, I gathered up my cap and gown and my car keys and headed out the door. All
the graduates had to meet in the high school library an hour before the ceremonies started, and I
promised one of my best friends Tony that we would go together. I knocked on his back door and
let myself in like I always do. All of his family members were running throughout the house trying
to get ready. I asked his mom where Tony was and she proceeded to tell me that he was in the
bathroom getting ready. I tapped on the door and walked in. He was standing in front of the
mirror with his cap and gown on. He look me straight in the eyes and said," Can you believe that
we are about to graduate?" I replied," No, it really hasn't set in yet." Tony finished getting ready,
and then we left for the high school. The parking lot was filled with all the other seniors' cars.
Tony and I walked into the library ten minutes late like usual, and the principal had already started
giving instructions. I found my place in line and then was all ears. I couldn't help but look around
at all the others. Smiles were plastered on their faces as if they had heard a hilarious joke. Once the
principal concluded his speech, the whole senior class paraded down the hallway to the commons in
two uniform lines stopping just outside the gymnasium doors. We could hear the band warming up
and playing songs. All the people that were standing around me were bubbling

Second, after I got my cap and gown my friends and I tried it on and took pictures for the last time,
than we went to class and talked about what we were going to wear to graduation and how we

proud, and happy to be able to celebrate such an amazing day with all of my friends and family. I
know I will never forget how embarrassed I was walking across the stage in front of all of those
people, feeling famous after taking so many pictures, making our final memories together at our
graduation parties, and then being a nervous wreck when it was time to go out into the world
without my best friends at my side. High school graduation day was a very emotional day for me, but
it was by far the most exciting day I have ever experienced in my

Essay about Graduation: A Defining Moment
Graduation is an exciting time in a person's life, especially a high school graduation. When I think
of family and friends gathering together to celebrate a joyous occasion, I feel I accomplished my
strongest goal. It never occurred to me that graduation would be the end of my youth and the start of
adulthood. Graduating from high school was an influential event that gave me an altered outlook on
my existence. Life before graduation, preparing for graduation day, and commencement day
overwhelmed me for reality.
Life before graduation was a struggle for me. I lived in a home that seemed to bring me nothing but
pain and anger. I watched someone close to me die little by little every day. I did not live a normal
childhood because I was a...show more content...
I was working harder than ever to finish high school early and it had really paid off. I prepared and
prepared but it wasn't enough to my surprise.
Graduation was not that far away and actuality was about to strike me like a lightning bolt in the butt.
The most significant practice of the year approached us seniors. The staff put us into groups to
keep all the seniors in order. We all were divided into sections and labeled after letters and
numbers. Soon after, all the senior class entered the auditorium in an orderly fashion. The
practice had us recall memories of our freshmen to senior years. I saw a video that showed
pictures of my youth to a young adult. I begin to think of the past and how much fun I had
growing up. I also thought about how I would never see some of my friends again. After some
time, the staff wanted us to practice walking across the stage. I did not quite understand why we
needed to do this; I figured they wanted us to see how fast our life would flash in front of our
eyes. At last, practice was over and I was able to go pick up my cap and gown. During this time, I
thought about the next day and how it would be the end of another chapter in my years.
Graduation day arrived and I had butterflies out of this world. It seemed as if I misplaced
everything. I could not find my dress. My family came from one state to another. I finally got to the
church were the commencement was going to be held. I

High School Graduation Essay

  • 1. Narrative Essay About My Graduation Party My graduation party consisted of delicious food, as well as great fun. It was a warm sunny summer day. I had just graduated from high school, so my family and friends wanted to celebrate my achievement with me. My parents booked my party at a place not too far from my home. My parents, my little brother, and I loaded the car with a variety of food. After we loaded the car, we took off for my party's location. Once we pulled into the parking lot of the building I dashed into the building with arms full of pots that my mom's pulled chicken filled, relish tray, chips and dip, and the beautiful bakery cake. My Grandma Matthias was the next one to arrive at my graduation party with her homemade loaded macaroni salad, and chocolate covered strawberries. The next people to arrive at my graduation party was my Grandma Kathy who brought my Grandpa Terry, and my brother Austin, as well as bringing meatballs, cookies, homemade lemonade, and iced tea. My Grandma Brad was the last person to arrive at my graduation party, and she brought my cousin Ethan, my cousin Jack, and my Aunt Jen, as well as bringing her famous sausage and potatoes, and beans. After a while, it was time for us to eat the amazing food that everyone made. I was very happy when it was time to eat because of the pleasant aroma that built up in the building from all the food. I made sure to try a bit of everything except the beans because I don't really care for beans. The first thing I tried was my mom's pulled Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Hello, we would like to welcome and thank all of you for being here with us tonight to celebrate our high school graduation . It truly is an honor to be surrounded by so many significant people who have impacted our lives immensely throughout our highschool years. We would like to thank the wonderful people here tonight that we have the privilege to call our parents. Whether you are a mother a father, grandma or grandpa, or an aunt or an uncle; we are here, graduating today because of all of you. We would like to start this speech off with a little comparison between what parents think and what we, being the teenagers, think. It is well known that parents and teenagers have not been always been known to agree on everything. Whether it was that haircut you got our that meal they tried to feed you. Sometimes we just don't agree on everything. For instant, parenting in general, is often described differently depending on who you ask. According to some parents, "parenting is 50% love, 10% lies, 10% yelling and 30% unclogging toilets". To them, "parenting is basically just listening to yourself talk because nobody else is.". However, according to some, well most teenagers, "parenting is embarrassing us whenever, wherever 90% of the time". To us, "parenting is having our own personalized cook, counsellor, chauffeur and bank". So yeah, there's a little bit of controversy there. But parents, they're great, I mean, it is an huge understatement to say that you guys are awesome! To Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Graduation Speech : High School Graduation April Houghton Professor Forest English 1010 9/9/2014 Graduation During our lives, most of us have hated getting up early. Whether we as humans enjoy mornings or not, we're always looking forward to that unforgettable day. That special is high school graduation for me. Graduation is a ceremony that recognizes students that have excelled through school. Graduation was one of the best days of my life, perhaps even better than the day that I started college. There is no other day like graduation where there comes this feeling of success, achievement, and excitement. People think that graduation is exciting because they cannot wait to get out of high school. When the time comes you realize that all the friends and relationships you have made is coming to an end and now most of you all are going in separate directions. The hardest part for me was letting go. Knowing that nothing was going to be handed to me anymore was one of the last things I wanted. I did not want to separate from my friends and the only place I have ever known. Graduation day was the busiest day of my life. The night before was filled with excitement. May 18, 2014 is when my life changed. I realized that everything in life was going to be different once I walked across the stage. I got up and started preparing around 6 a.m. even though graduation didn't start until 1 p.m. I remember panicking all day because every little thing that could've gone wrong was going through my head. • 4. Graduation Day Essay For most people their graduation day is one of the best days of their lives. No more high school, and for some it means that they are now able to move out on their own and embark on the independent journey of college. In my case my graduation day started out to be a great day but turned out to be one of the worst. It is almost as if I wish I never had a ceremony. If there wasn't graduation ceremony there wouldn't have been an accident. On June 13, 2011, I woke up a happy and excited 17 year old for it was my graduation day and that meant no more high school, no more nagging teachers, and no more drama. I met my friends and my boyfriend Andrew in the school parking lot and away we went to practice graduation. After we had practiced...show more content... After we had walked out and took our seats I couldn't help but to stare at the empty seat next to me and wonder where he was at. I called his house but no one picked up. After calling a repeated amount of times his friend Ryan was able to get through to his parents. His parents had told Ryan that there was an accident and after we graduate they will tell us where Andrew is at. As soon as Ryan got off the phone he told me not to worry and that he probably broke his leg or something and that he was in a hospital somewhere and that we will know where after we get our diplomas. After a couple of speeches and a few diplomas later it was almost my row's turn to walk across the stage and claim our diplomas. Right before we were to stand up and walk toward the stage I got the worst news of my life. I got a call from Andrews frantic older brother. He asked if I had walked yet I told him no and demanded to know where Andrew was. After a few minutes of heavy breaths I heard the words, " Jenn, Andrews.... Andrews dead." The words echoed in my ears. I dropped my phone and just sat there. I couldn't move, speak or even cry, I just sat there and stared. After a few minutes I guess you could say it hit me. The tears came rolling off my face. Advisors and school employees' ran to me Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. High School Graduation Rates Essay In urban priority school districts, educators emphasize the importance of graduation. The expectation of all educators should be that every child can learn and will graduate. It is through graduation that society begins to combat poverty. In New Haven Public Schools, where graduation rates are higher than comparable districts in the state of Connecticut, they are not inclusive of all public school students. It is through collaboration with the University of Chicago and the Consortium on School Research that freshman on–track indicators have been defined and implemented in one high school in the city. It is the purpose of this study to determine the effectiveness of the use of early warning indicators to increase the high school graduation...show more content... Research Questions What are the freshman on–track rates for the current 12th grade students and all subgroups contained within the cohort; and are there discrepancies in subgroups? How do these rates compare to the current ninth grade cohort? How do current 12th grade students who were on–track per the defined freshman on–track Indicators in their ninth grade compared to the current ninth grade cohort upon their graduation in 2021, and according to all identified subgroups? To what extend is the freshman on–track indicator a predictor of high school graduation, college enrollment, and college persistence with both of these cohorts of graduates? Literature Review Success is attainable by all students except when circumstances of one's environment prevent forward movement. If access to graduation is equitable and attainable, students will be prepared to enroll and persist in college thereby increasing their opportunities for success and high qualities of life. Swanson (2009) reiterates a focus of the Obama campaign on graduate rates as most important because the diploma is not only a source of economic benefit but of preparation for global competitiveness. Increased graduations rates stand to serve an increase in national economy while lifting students most at risk from poverty. The impact of education on poverty is found through increasing access to graduation. Swanson (2009) suggests that attainment of higher levels of education is not enough, the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. My High School Graduation Speech Math was always a subject that I struggled with throughout all of my years in school. This was actually brought to my attention when I was getting ready for my high school graduation party a few years ago. I was putting together an album of various pictures and other documents of things I had collected throughout my life, from Prekindergarten to my senior year of high school. Some of these documents included school projects, documentation from my school of how much I 'd grown in a year, and most importantly my report cards. While looking at them, I realized, how consistently average, or in some cases below average, I was in math. I had also struggled with many of my other subjects in elementary school. I had to attend after school tutoring for both math and reading, and was pulled out of my classroom for extra help with reading. As well as, I attended summer school once. While I eventually learned to enjoy reading, I always dreaded math. It wasn 't uncommon for me to start crying while doing my math homework every night. One thing I specifically remember about math was in third grade. We were learning multiplication and we had to watch videos that took place in a classroom and it assigned different classroom objects to a specific number. For example, the flag was the number three. So, I specifically remember the video asking us something like, "Multiply the flag times the moose." Somehow, this was supposed to be how we learned to multiply. • 7. My High School Journey At the beginning of my high school journey, it was scary. Just the thought of a new school, meeting new people, and the fact that this would be my last years before becoming an "adult" and getting closer to college, was unbelievable, yet scary. My high school journey had many ups and down. These ups and downs vary because I experienced them in my academics and socially. I can't forget that I learned a lot and met many different personalities, with people whom I trust and had many great times. Also as growing up throughout high school, I'm slowly seeing who I am. I know this is not the end of life, just a great piece of my life will end and everything will soon change again. I can give so many advices to just start off great at the beginning of anyone's high school journey. I think it's important to join clubs, activities,or sports so you can meet new people. It's important to surround yourself with people who will take their education seriously because at the end of high school, you will see how far you got by being surrounded with positive people and that's a benefit because you concentrate and achieve excellent grades and that leads to good colleges. Also, joining more clubs and participating looks great with your cap and gown at the graduation! Another advice is do NOT procrastinate, I have done it so many times and it sucks to sleep late and wake up early and by doing so, you avoid stress which is a pain in the butt. Do your homework, get good grades, and ask Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Essay about High School Graduation High School Graduation I can still remember it like yesterday. It was June 6, 1994, the day of my high school graduation. This day is the single most important day of my life. This day was so important to me because it was the first thing I had to work really hard on to accomplish. For the first time in my life I felt as if I really could succeed in something. It helped to change my life. It started out like just another day but things would quickly change. I woke up at 7:00 a.m., which is extremely early by my standards, with anticipation of the day I had been waiting for. After sitting around for 3 hours I made my way over to Ludlow High School. The graduating class was to be there for 10:00 a.m. to pick up our...show more content... The time finally arrived . It was 7:00p.m. and the music had begun to play. We started our slow march to the grandstands and I could here the crowd cheering. I looked up to take a look at the audience and quickly found my family waving their hands around in excitement. It felt like we had just won a sporting championship and had arrived home to our beloved fans. I sat through about an hour of boring speeches which I could not tell you one single thing about. I tried to seem interested in what was being said at the platform to my right but I just couldn't concentrate. My mind kept wandering to the moment why I was sitting through this nonsense. Finally I saw my principal stand up and then I knew it was time. He gave a brief five minute speech and started calling out names. When my name was finally called I had a funny feeling come about me. It was a feeling that I have not experienced since. My heart felt like it dropped into my stomach and I got this cold shivering which produced goose bumps all over my me. That brief moment had come and gone and now it was time to celebrate. Not only was my high school graduation the first step in helping me Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Graduation Speech : High School While a necessary step in any dedicated academic's life, the graduation of high school is not always a cakewalk to accomplish. With the obstacle of mental illness in my way, I found the task of graduating high school and moving on to college to be a mammoth that I felt not healthy enough to conquer. In the second half of my high school career, I found myself in physical and mental states so poor that I missed approximately one third of my desk hours in my junior year. The possibility of returning to school, let alone graduating with my class, seemed bleak. I returned to my high school for my senior year with absolute intention of amendment. I began a prescription regimen of an antidepressant and anti–anxiety medication and attending sessions of therapy regularly. The day of my high school graduation felt like it was a fantasy; I could not believe that I had solved so many of my problems and that I would soon be attending my college of choice. Most unbelievably, I had only myself to thank. Although I emerged victorious, I am still a chronic, clinical sufferer of mood and anxiety disorders. Looking back on my own story and having been able to talk to others like myself, I now know that it is a story I share with many students. As a future educator, this common theme of mental illness having such a negative impact on student success worries me. I believe that the current, typical approach to a high school education may inherently be a Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. My High school Graduation Day Like many students, I waited for the day of my high school graduation ever since I started high school. I waited for that day to come with patient. I also wanted to see my parent's excitement, and the proud moments they have waited for. I didn't believe that graduation will be very emotional. The emotional moments started when I put my cap and gown on. Then the memories started to come, first thing that came to my mind was how did I survive school with my ADD. I have always struggled with school due to my ADD. I was passing my classes with average grades even though I was doing my best, and working hard on my assignments. At the same time, I was feeling nervous thinking about walking down to the stage and receiving my diploma. The more I was thinking about my big day, the more overwhelming I became as I was going to start a whole new step in life. I was very proud of myself on that day. I was very pleased that I celebrated that day with my family and friends, I was proud of myself because I challenged myself to pass high School, and made my family proud. Then, as I walked to the stage to receive my diploma, my heart was beating fast, and my face was turning red. When the principal called out my name, I walked with pride, shook his hand, and got my diploma. During these moments, I heard a loud cheering from family and friends. Then I walked down the stairs, and held my diploma high toward the side my family were sitting, and their cheering got louder, and I became happier. After I went back to my seat, I was looking at my diploma and started thinking how I successfully folded one chapter in my life, and how to start opening a whole new one by going to college. At that time, I was thinking about how excited college could be, meeting new people, more mature, their thinking will be different. I also thought college will be my new path way to real life. Moreover, I looked around at my friends as the ceremony was getting close to the end. I was getting emotional as I had to say good bye to most of my friends, it was very hard for me to think about not seeing some of them again because they were planning to move and attend out of state college. • 11. High School Graduation Essay Graduation Epidemic My high school graduation was one of the saddest moments of my life. Although I was excited about graduating, I did not know what I was going to do with the rest of my life. In Maya Angelou's "Graduation," Angelou was excited and proud of all that she had accomplished. In Flannery O' Connor's "A Late Encounter With the Enemy,"Sally Poker Sash was proud that she was finally graduating and just wanted to show that off to all the "upstarts". In the two readings the pupils are contrasting in a few different areas, and a couple of those areas are in pride and feelings that their families have being involved in the graduation. In both of the readings the pupils have a great sense of pride; however the pride is in...show more content... Obviously Sash has not worked very hard and does not even care that she is graduating with a degree, all that she is proud of is that she gets to show it off. In both stories the main characters have family involved in their graduations, but they are involved for entirely different reasons. Angelou's mother is proud and excited of her daughter's graduation. To show this she gets started right away on her butter–yellow pique dress that all the girls are wearing for graduation. Also on the day of graduation her mother makes a Sunday breakfast even though it was only Friday. Another thing, her brother Bailey was also very happy for his sister. We get to see his happiness for her when he gives her a box that is wrapped in Christmas paper. Bailey had saved his money for months to be able to buy Angelou a soft–leather bound copy of a collection of poems by Edgar Allen Poe. In contrast, the only person that Sash has is her grandfather General Sash. "The General did not give two slaps for her graduation..." Also the General would not have even gone to the graduation if Miss Sash had not promised that he would get to sit on stage. Anytime, anyplace that the General can sit on stage, he is there. So it was not even about support, it was about his selfish reasons just as much as it was Sally's. In concluding, every graduation is different. The feelings that people have and the way that the families are involved are usually different for Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Graduation Speech On High School Graduation There Is No Success Without The Opportunity to Fail High School graduation can be an exciting time in a student's life. It is a time when they begin to experience the kind of freedom that comes along with growing up. This freedom allows students to choose the type of college or University they would like to attend. It is necessary that they understand how responsible they need to be with the freedom that is being offered to them. When choosing what college or university they would like to attend, it may be tempting to want to go to a school that is known more for the party scene. However, it is important to keep in mind that to have a bright future, going to a party school may not be what is best for them. When looking into colleges or universities it is imperative to ask oneself three questions, are the students attending the school learning anything; what is the failure rate of the school they are looking into; and what is the schools average cost of tuition. Not only do students want to pick a good school for higher education, they will also want to make sure that they are paying close attention to the instructions of their professors. When students skip class or do not pay attention to the instructions given to them, they run the risk of becoming another statistic for the average failure rate of the university or college they are attending. William Deresiewicz, who wrote "The Miseducation of America" 4 January 2016, believes that college is Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. Graduation Speech Essay Well, this is it, the day all of us have been waiting for has finally arrived. It seems like only yesterday we were picking our noses and flicking them at innocent bystanders or yelling childish phrases like, "Liar, liar, pants on fire!" or, wait, that was yesterday. Never mind. Anyways. What I'm trying to say is the years, have flown by and it's not going to be long before we're in the stands watching our kids graduate. You know, there is a lot more to graduating than leaving Rufus and getting a diploma. It's more than that. I mean, why do you think we get to wear these cool robes? Our infantile days of wandering into first period half asleep and living off the school's cheesy burritos and ranch dressing are over, it's time now...show more content... We are knocking on the door of total independence, something we have never fully understood. We have just barely begun the trip on the roller coaster of life and already it seems like we've had quite a ride. Some of us will go on to college, some will enter into the work force, and most of us are still undecided. But whichever path we take, it won't be easy and believe me, a year or two from now you're gonna wish you were back at good old LHS because the term "9 to 5" is going to take on a whole new meaning, and I'll tell you right now it ain't gonna be pretty folks. Our graduation is our coming of age, our right of passage. As we walk across this stage we are writing the closing pages to our Chapter I and heading into the great unknown. It's kinda scary –– but hey, don't you cry, even thoughhigh school is over, the times we've shared and the friends we've made will never be lost. The clock is ticking, time is fleeting and nobody lives forever. But true friendship is something we can count on never dying. I hope wherever we go in life it will be happy and even if we all move to remote island countries we can all count on the memories and laugh at all the stupid things we did. So to the class of 06', I'd like to say thanks for the memories and good luck. You're gonna need it. The decrease of high school graduation rates is a fairly important issue, and there are plenty of reasons to propose a change. According to the U.S. Department of Education, the current standard dropout rate of high school students is 7.4%. High school dropouts encounter way more difficulties and challenges than a high school graduate would. An average high school drop out lacks the basic education that one needs in order to be successful in life. They are more likely to face problems dealing with financial insecurity, communication skills, and of course, educational matters. With a high school diploma, one is more likely to get hired for a job, earn a higher income, and educate oneself even further. Some possible causes of high school students dropping out include stress, boredom, family problems, pregnancies, and drugs. With that said, with every issue, there is always a solution. By taking the problem at hand and looking at it from a broad perspective, we can thoroughly identify the source of the high dropout rates of U.S. high school students. There are countless factors that may be the cause of this epidemic, but a few ideas including making learning more relevant, limiting the workload given to students, and providing mandatory classes on drugs and safe sex may possibly be a solution to this Get more content on HelpWriting.net

My high school principal stood on the stage of our auditorium introducing me as the recipient of the Principals Hall of Fame Award. As he stated proudly "Desiree aspires to return to North Miami Beach Senior High to teach science" it was hard for me to conceal my shock. How had he misinterpreted my future plans into becoming an educator and even more, to returning to my high school? I was sure that this was all a misunderstanding and I would continue on towards becoming the Neonatologist I had always dreamed of, still connected to children but only in the first moments of their lives. Little did I know, my principal was more in tuned to my destiny than I thought. I look back on this moment and it supports my belief that education has always been my calling. From the beginning of my time at Emory University, I have been involved in youth mentoring. Emory Reads was the quintessential after–school program that brought college students into schools across Atlanta to offer a helping hand to teachers. While participating in this program the issues I was studying in an Urban Education course became real, in the form of an eighth grade student I met. This young girl was extremely driven and had big dreams, she let me know right away of her plans to continue on to college and become a doctor. While reviewing her homework I noticed an incorrect subtraction problem and began to review it with her, Get more content on HelpWriting.net

The most significant practice of the year approached us seniors. The staff put us into groups to keep all the seniors in order. We all were divided into sections and labeled after letters and numbers. Soon after, all the senior class entered the auditorium in an orderly fashion. The practice had us recall memories of our freshmen to senior years. I saw a video that showed pictures of my youth to a young adult. I begin to think of the past and how much fun I had growing up. I also thought about how I would never see some of my friends again. After some time, the staff wanted us to practice walking across the stage.
