Exploratory
search
can
be
used
to
describe
an
informa2on-‐
seeking
problem
context
that
is
open-‐ended,
persistent,
and
mul2-‐faceted;
and
to
describe
informaAon-‐seeking
processes
that
are
opportunis2c,
itera2ve,
and
mul2-‐tac2cal.
In
the
first
sense,
exploratory
search
is
commonly
used
in
scien2fic
discovery,
learning,
and
decision-‐making
contexts.
In
the
second
sense,
exploratory
tacAcs
are
used
in
all
manner
of
informa2on
seeking
and
reflect
seeker
preferences
and
experience
as
much
as
the
goal
