4. History
Lupang Hinirang is the national anthem of the
Philipines.Its music was composed in 1898 by
Julian Felipe and the lyrics was adapted from
the Spanish poem FILIPINAS written by Jose
Pallma. It was first played in the Proclamation
of the Philippine Independence on June 12,
1898. During the American colonization 1907 it
was banned. It was legalized again as the
Philippines Hymn in the Commonwealth Act No.
382

is the host or has a representative.
2. During the signing off or on by radio
broadcasting and in television stations.
3. Before the opening of films and theater plays.

R.A. 8491specifies that Lupang Hinirang can
only be performed by a pianist or a brass band.
The original version was composed in duple
time (2/4 time) compared to the present
quadruple time(4/4 time).
The NATIONAL HISTORICAL INSTITUTE(NHI)
praises and criticized singers for singing too fast
or too slow during Pacquiao’s boxing match.
The NHI says that the proper tempo is 2/4 and
100 metronomes and should last 53 seconds.
