54. From the Journal of Bayze Wells… September 22, 1776 This day the wind was Southerly but small and variable this morning at eight A.M. Ananius Tubbs was cabbed twelve strokes on his naked buttocks for sleeping on his watch. The wind increased at Southwest until night. Lieutenant Fox and Sergeant Whitney made us a visit.
