2. The Islamic State should provide….
Protection (from outside as well as inside
the Islamic State).
Freedom of religion.
Basic necessities to the poor.
3. No Compulsion in Religion
“There is non compulsion in religion” (Q 2 v 256)
The life and property of all citizens in an Islamic state are
considered sacred whether a person is Muslim or not.
Quran speaks of human equality in the following terms:
The Quran says: "O mankind! We created you from a
single soul, male and female, and made you into
nations and tribes, so that you may come to know
one another. Truly, the most honored of you in God’s
sight is the greatest of you in piety. God is All-
Knowing, All-Aware." (Q 49 v13)
4. Jiziya
Capitation Tax
Non-Muslims can choose to pay Zakat
(which would be more) if they wish.
Should only be impossed on individuals
who can take part in a war but by paying
jiziya they are exempt.

6. Protection & Security
Life (resident or traveling).
Justice and Fairness.

Freedom to work, make contracts.
Non-Muslims places of worship i.e.
churches, should not be tampered with.
10. Inheritance
Muslims don’t inherit Non-Muslims.
However, because no official inheritance
system, it can be considered as a gift.
Non-Muslims can’t inherit Muslims.
However, up to 1/3 can be bequeathed.
11. Status of Jews & Christians in
Islam
Muslims are required to respect all those who are faithful and God
conscious people, namely those who received messages.
Christians and Jews are called People of the Book . Muslims
are asked to call upon the People of the Book for common
terms, namely, to worship One God, and to work together for
the solutions of the many problems in the society. In Islamic
.laws they were given a preferential status among non-Muslims
The Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)
permitted Muslims to associate with, to share a table
with the Jews and Christians. He (Peace be upon him)
. also permitted even, to form marriage bonds with them
12. Marriage
A Christian or Jewish woman can marry a
Muslim man.
She can practice her faith.
Children should follow the father’s religion.
13. Why can’t a Non-Muslim man
?marry a Muslim woman
The man is head of the family.
Children would be brought up in his faith.
He doesn’t acknowledge her Faith.
He doesn’t understand duty of Muslims (5
Pillars).
He doesn’t understand hijab.
He may not support her financially.
