OBJECTIVES:
A. Describes the role of achieving one’s common good leading to
strong foundation of society;
B. Justifies one’s thoughts of individual differences to achieve
common good; and
C. Shows the importance of common good as moral aspect in
achieving strong foundation of society;
To achieve common good, you have to be aware of what is happening around you.
Listed below are the activities by which you can be aware of what’s going on around us.

2. Protection of environment, natural habitat and natural resources
3. Human growth and development toward the satisfaction of our needs as
individuals
4. An ethical society where people care for others as well as for themselves.
5. A social system that guarantees all people access to quality education, health
care, housing, transportation and basic utilities
ULTIMATE GOAL OF SOCIETY
(SOCIAL GOALS IN ACHIEVING COMMON GOOD)
8. Programs where the weak and poor are given support and assistance.
9. A productive society where work is well-compensated and enough time is
provided for leisure and personal development
10. A safe and peaceful society
6. The preservation of cultural history and traditions
7. Effective strategies that solve poverty problems
COMMON GOOD = “GOOD” OF ALL IN SOCIETY
Working for the common good = working for a just where there is equity
Common good and the Community
• Human beings are both sacred and social.
• Dignity and rights are realized and protected in relationships and in wider
society.
• How we organize economics, politics, law and policies in our societies
directly affect human dignity and the protection of human rights.
• In moral society, economics, politics, law and public policy protect human
dignity.
ESSENTAL QUESTIONS
1. In your own idea, what are the observable practices
that violate the principle of common good? Explain.
2. You went to the Barangay Hall and wanted to have
an appointment to talk to the Captain personally. At
your young age right now, do you think you will be
given time to express your concerns/suggestions
and/or recommendations to your barangay? Yes or No.
