2. LANGUAGE INSTITUTES
English language public instruction began in India in the 1830s
during the rule of the East India Company. Just before the end of
Company rule, universities modelled on the University of London
and using English as the medium of instruction were established in
Bombay, Calcutta and Madras. And since then the role of English
language in India has been on the upscale. Today there are many
Govt. as well as private institutes that aim to produce human
resource proficient in English Language.
A language institute is where one studies a foreign language. Classes
at a language school are usually focused on achieving
communicative competence in a foreign language. Language
learning in such institutes typically supplements formal education or
existing knowledge of a foreign language. Students vary widely by
age, educational background, work experience. Further, at
language school students usually have the possibility of selecting a
specific course according to their language proficiency.
Globally, English language schools have seen the greatest demand
over schools for other languages. Over one billion people are said to
be learning English in a second language or foreign language
context.
Language schools commonly offer specific programs to those wishing
to prepare for internationally recognized language exams such as:
TOEIC (Test of English for International Communication)
TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language)
CaMLA (Cambridge Michigan Language Assessments)
TrackTest or TrackTest Online English Assessment Center
Cambridge English Language Assessment
Some of the prominent English Institutes in India are: Inlingua

American International School at Chennai, Cochin International
Language Academy, Academy of British English at Delhi, Stanford

age groups. This includes:

In addition, most of the language institutes are well equipped with
language lab facilities and qualified teachers.

University (or EFLU) at Malappuram, Camford Academy at
