Liberalism Done By: Varuni
Definition Liberalism is basically the quality of being liberal, as in behavior or attitude. Liberalism is a political and social philosophy that advocates freedom.
Liberalism There are many types of freedom, such as freedom of the individual, a parliamentary systems of government, nonviolent modification of political, social, or economic institutions to assure unrestricted development in all spheres of human endeavor, and governmental guarantees of individual rights and civil liberties.
Liberalism Liberalism first became a powerful force in the Age of Enlightenment. The idea of Liberalism was used in many countries. Liberalism gave people hope that there was still freedom around the world.
Spread of liberalism The revolutionaries in the American Revolution and the French Revolution used liberal philosophy to justify the armed overthrow of tyrannical rule. The 19th century saw liberal governments established in nations across Europe, Latin America, and North America. Liberal ideas spread even further in the 20th century, when liberal democracies triumphed in two world wars and survived major ideological challenges from fascism and communism.
John Locke John Locke was a enlightenment thinker. He was a liberal thinker. He is often credited for the theory of liberalism. He came up with three theories, which was life, liberty, and property. He believed that people should have the right to speak for themselves and on their own.
Mary Wollstonecraft She was an enlightenment thinker who had theories that women should have as much freedom as women. She was a philosopher, write, and feminist. She fought for women to get freedom.
Voltaire Voltaire was an enlightenment thinker who had the theory of “Freedom of expression” He believed that people should have the rights to say, think, or do whatever they wanted as long as it did not harm or involve anyone else.
Liberalism Some people do not support the idea of Liberalism, for example another enlightenment thinker Thomas Hobbes. Thomas Hobbes idea was that people were evil from birth, and they had to be taught and handled to turn into good people.
