BIBA
 BIBA is the most loved ethnic fashion brand in India.
 Biba Apparels Private Limited (“Biba”), the Indian fashion
giant, stands true to its name.
 The brand has been dressing and embellishing demure
maidens from every corner of India since 1986
 Contemporary ethnic fashion at affordable price is Biba’s
commitment to fashion enthusiasts.
 The word “biba” is a Punjabi endearment for a young and
pretty girl.
 It implies sublime qualities, compelling Mrs. Meena
Bindra, the founder of Biba, to use the name for the line
of salwar, kameez, and dupattas that she launched in
1986.
 Today, the mix-and-match range has a very
contemporary sensibility, and the salwar-kameez range is
very ethnic, defined by an Indian crafted look, hand-block
prints, and vegetable dyes.
 Indian handlooms with traditional embroideries and
other techniques are applied in producing the
garments. Unstitched suits and a festive collection
for two-to-12-year-old girls cater to the full demands
of a woman.
 Biba pioneered Bollywood merchandising in India
by providing costumes for Na Tum Jano Na Hum in
2004.
 It covered ten more projects, including
blockbusters such as Devdas,Hulchul,
and Baghban.
MEENA BINDRA
Early Life
 Meena Bindra was born in Delhi. Meena’s father was a business
person. When he passed away he left lots of property.
 This help them to live normal childhood with her six siblings. Her
father died when meena was 9 years old.
 It all starts the beginning when Meena Bindra married with Indian
Navy officer at the age of 19. At that time she had completed her BA.
 As she was the wife of naval officer she moved all over the country
with her husband. From Delhi to Mumbai to Vishakhapatanam.
 She was the mother of two children.
Her Passion was in Designing Clothes:-
 As this point Meena was thinking about small business. Just to
improve her pocket-money.
 Meena spoke to her husband about business, he immediately
arranged eight thousand rupees loan.
 She started her business in 1982.At the age of 39 who could
think of starting a business.
 Meena Bindra had just about starting a business. In which
she adopted her passion of designing clothes into business.
 “I wanted to keep myself busy. And want to earn some extra
pocket-money. So I started designing clothes. I use to love
designing clothes.”
Started Her Business At Home :-
 Meena Bindra Started her business at home. She used to design a cloths
and sell it informally .
 As she got eight thousand rupees. She first hired a tailor and buy some
fabric. Meena Bindra got her first lucky break.
 When someone introduced her with block printer called Devesh. He
was young boy passionate about work and owning a factory.
 Meena use to go to factory and start to design a
clothes. Devesh and Meena both use to experiment with the clothes and
design.
One step Further :-
 After getting offer from Devesh meena start to think further. She use to sell
the clothes in reasonable price.
 Meena then started selling the clothes from home. And every clothes
use to get sale. With her first sale she made a profit of Rs 3000.
 With this profit she had bought more Fabrics. The business which she
was doing was not a strict business. It was easy-going atmosphere.
 The friend nature of Meena always used to win the heart of her customer.
She never consider her customer as a customer. She always considered
them her friend.
Popularity
 The popularity was rising. Meena’s fabric were getting famous among
women. The popularity was rising and Meena was deciding to create her
own brand. She name her brand as “BIBA“.
 Time has come where retailer use to keep the bill of large order. They were
ordering 100 fabrics with different design.
Role Her Two Son Played For Expanding Business
Elder Son’s Roles :-
 Her elder Sanjay had just graduated in B.com. He was interested in
helping her Mom in business. But Meena insisted not involve in her
business. Instead she advised to study MBA and know more about
business and join BIBA.
 After Completing MBA he immediately joined BIBA. And handle the
most boring part of business. He was handling labours, taking orders,
keeping accounts etc.
 Meena acknowledge her elder son as an asset. The business was
rising with turnover of Rs 8 – 10 crore.
 Every month they have sold more than 2000 fabrics. This became a
huge expansion.
Younger Son’s Role :-
 The turning point of BIBA was when her younger brother had
joined BIBA after graduating from Harvards University in 2002.
 At that time the turn over is more than 25 crores. Her younger
son Siddharth has made a clear vision to own their own outlets.
 They have built their first outlet were they have made a profit
of Rs12 lakh per month.
 Siddharth use to handle Management and funding. By the time of
2012 the revenue of BIBA raised till Rs 300 crore.
 Kishore Biyani has bought the stake of 10% in BIBA for 110 crore.
 In 2010 Sanjay Bindra left BIBA and started his own business
call Seven East.
Why BIBA Was A Successful Business :-
 At that time there were no ready-made Salwar-Kameez.
And BIBA was only industry who were selling ready-
made Salwar-Kameez.
 Another point BIBA was always selling their product and
this isone of the reason they are successful are
1) Low cost.
2) Good quality
3) Deliver In time.
Present and Future:-
 Today BIBA is producing more than 80,000 fabrics.
 The annual turnover of Biba Apparels is estimated at Rs.600
crores today.
 In terms of product line they have
launched ‘Biba Girls’ – an ethnic wear
collection for 2-12 year old girls.
 There are also plans to launch ‘Unstitched Fabrics’ in a big
way.”elling it every month.

  • 2. BIBA  BIBA is the most loved ethnic fashion brand in India.  Biba Apparels Private Limited (“Biba”), the Indian fashion giant, stands true to its name.  The brand has been dressing and embellishing demure maidens from every corner of India since 1986  Contemporary ethnic fashion at affordable price is Biba’s commitment to fashion enthusiasts.
  • 3.  The word “biba” is a Punjabi endearment for a young and pretty girl.  It implies sublime qualities, compelling Mrs. Meena Bindra, the founder of Biba, to use the name for the line of salwar, kameez, and dupattas that she launched in 1986.  Today, the mix-and-match range has a very contemporary sensibility, and the salwar-kameez range is very ethnic, defined by an Indian crafted look, hand-block prints, and vegetable dyes.
  • 4.  Indian handlooms with traditional embroideries and other techniques are applied in producing the garments. Unstitched suits and a festive collection for two-to-12-year-old girls cater to the full demands of a woman.  Biba pioneered Bollywood merchandising in India by providing costumes for Na Tum Jano Na Hum in 2004.  It covered ten more projects, including blockbusters such as Devdas,Hulchul, and Baghban.
  • 5. MEENA BINDRA Early Life  Meena Bindra was born in Delhi. Meena’s father was a business person. When he passed away he left lots of property.  This help them to live normal childhood with her six siblings. Her father died when meena was 9 years old.  It all starts the beginning when Meena Bindra married with Indian Navy officer at the age of 19. At that time she had completed her BA.  As she was the wife of naval officer she moved all over the country with her husband. From Delhi to Mumbai to Vishakhapatanam.  She was the mother of two children.
  • 6. Her Passion was in Designing Clothes:-  As this point Meena was thinking about small business. Just to improve her pocket-money.  Meena spoke to her husband about business, he immediately arranged eight thousand rupees loan.  She started her business in 1982.At the age of 39 who could think of starting a business.  Meena Bindra had just about starting a business. In which she adopted her passion of designing clothes into business.  “I wanted to keep myself busy. And want to earn some extra pocket-money. So I started designing clothes. I use to love designing clothes.”
  • 7. Started Her Business At Home :-  Meena Bindra Started her business at home. She used to design a cloths and sell it informally .  As she got eight thousand rupees. She first hired a tailor and buy some fabric. Meena Bindra got her first lucky break.  When someone introduced her with block printer called Devesh. He was young boy passionate about work and owning a factory.  Meena use to go to factory and start to design a clothes. Devesh and Meena both use to experiment with the clothes and design. One step Further :-  After getting offer from Devesh meena start to think further. She use to sell the clothes in reasonable price.
  • 8.  Meena then started selling the clothes from home. And every clothes use to get sale. With her first sale she made a profit of Rs 3000.  With this profit she had bought more Fabrics. The business which she was doing was not a strict business. It was easy-going atmosphere.  The friend nature of Meena always used to win the heart of her customer. She never consider her customer as a customer. She always considered them her friend. Popularity  The popularity was rising. Meena’s fabric were getting famous among women. The popularity was rising and Meena was deciding to create her own brand. She name her brand as “BIBA“.  Time has come where retailer use to keep the bill of large order. They were ordering 100 fabrics with different design.
  • 9. Role Her Two Son Played For Expanding Business Elder Son’s Roles :-  Her elder Sanjay had just graduated in B.com. He was interested in helping her Mom in business. But Meena insisted not involve in her business. Instead she advised to study MBA and know more about business and join BIBA.  After Completing MBA he immediately joined BIBA. And handle the most boring part of business. He was handling labours, taking orders, keeping accounts etc.  Meena acknowledge her elder son as an asset. The business was rising with turnover of Rs 8 – 10 crore.  Every month they have sold more than 2000 fabrics. This became a huge expansion.
  • 10. Younger Son’s Role :-  The turning point of BIBA was when her younger brother had joined BIBA after graduating from Harvards University in 2002.  At that time the turn over is more than 25 crores. Her younger son Siddharth has made a clear vision to own their own outlets.  They have built their first outlet were they have made a profit of Rs12 lakh per month.  Siddharth use to handle Management and funding. By the time of 2012 the revenue of BIBA raised till Rs 300 crore.  Kishore Biyani has bought the stake of 10% in BIBA for 110 crore.  In 2010 Sanjay Bindra left BIBA and started his own business call Seven East.
  • 11. Why BIBA Was A Successful Business :-  At that time there were no ready-made Salwar-Kameez. And BIBA was only industry who were selling ready- made Salwar-Kameez.  Another point BIBA was always selling their product and this isone of the reason they are successful are 1) Low cost. 2) Good quality 3) Deliver In time.
  • 12. Present and Future:-  Today BIBA is producing more than 80,000 fabrics.  The annual turnover of Biba Apparels is estimated at Rs.600 crores today.  In terms of product line they have launched ‘Biba Girls’ – an ethnic wear collection for 2-12 year old girls.  There are also plans to launch ‘Unstitched Fabrics’ in a big way.”elling it every month.
