WHY BUSINESS AT WESTERN
SYDNEY?
35. Educate Incubate Release and Grow
Western Sydney University is committed to
supporting Innovation through Education for the
local and international business leaders of today
and tomorrow.
We welcome new business partners, both local
and international who share our vision of continual
learning to support innovation.
Most frequent question from potential students and parents at open days is: What job can I get with this degree?
What really gets you a job over all other applicants? Dot points 3 & 4
Technical (hard) skills (These all simply referred to)
Contextual skills
Personal attributes
Employability (soft) skills
Most if not all universities will tell you that their Business degree makes graduates ‘work-ready’
But we need to prepare graduates to be future work-ready. We need to prepare you for jobs that don’t exist and to be able to use technologies that haven’t been invented yet.
With this in mind, the new Bachelor of Business at Western Sydney aims to give business students what they need for this rapidly changing environment: a broad set of cross-cutting capabilities.
These key capabilities are what leads to success and earnings NOT your major or where you went to uni.
This is what our programs are designed to do.
ACCOUNTING – graduates meet the preadmission educational requirements for CPA Australia (CPA), Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, Institute of Public Accountants (IPA)
FINANCIAL PLANNING – graduates who complete financial planning specialisation are eligible to apply to be a member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA)
TAXATION – graduates who complete tax specialisation can be considered for registration with the Tax Practitioners Board as a Registered Tax Agent
