4. What is the GSA?
• A not for profit corporation under the laws of the
Province of Ontario
• Exists to:
– Be the collective voice of graduate students on campus
– Advocate to senior Laurier admin for graduate students
– Represent graduate students on Laurier committees
– Provide services to complement your academic
experience
– Ensure grad students’ are served by Student Affairs
– Provide individual advocacy and support to our
members
– Provide avenues for personal and social growth

9. Board of Directors (BoD)
• Highest body of GSA governance
– Develops major strategies of the corporation
– Provides direction to Executive (through President)
• Duty to act in best interest of GSA and
membership at all times
• Composed of individuals elected (or acclaimed)
from each faculty
• 8 spots: 6 held for top vote receivers from each
faculty, 2 open spots
• Chair elected by general membership in March at
AGM
