Of course, not all MOOCs are created equal. Certain courses have a higher prevalence in
some continents than others. Figure 5 show s the distribution of users across continents for
each of the MOOCs listed in Table 1.
As mentioned, our MOOCs are mostly taken by users from Europe and North America.
H ow ever, different MOOCs tend to reach different “niche continents.” For instance, those
offered in English language are w idely popular in Asia, w hereas those offered in French
language are more popular in Africa.
