- Resources - to go to when you want to learn new ideas, strategies and informationPeople - who can guide your learning opportunities, answer your questions and give you the benefit of their own knowledge and experienceBut in the era of social media the word friend has taken on a new meaning.
- they can be from the school down the road or on the other side of the world. Examples of people I follow:- Wenona and former colleagues, teachers and principals in Australia whom I haven’t met, Kevin Rudd! Le Monde, the ABC, BBC Education, teachers from the UK, America...well, there are about 180!
- This simply means adding the hash symbol before a word and it will be ‘searchable’ and grouped with other tweets on this topicLet’s have a look again at my twitter page and see searches I have saved using hashtagsThe move me on booklet was created by twitter users tweeting about educational topics. They added the word move me on with a hash and it was grouped and added to the bookletNow I have a pdf copy of the booklet saved. I can read through and get ideas on a range of teaching topics – very useful!
- Since I have been on Twitter I have felt more connected to a greater range of teachers who have new ideas, useful resources and who can answer questions I may have.I am now thinking about how I could use this with a class – perhaps students connecting with French speakers?So, if you want me to show you how to sign up and find people to follow in your subject area, email me or speak to me
