2. Amenorrhea
(Absence of Period)
• Amenorrhea is the absence of menstruation — one or more missed
menstrual periods.
• Women who have missed at least 3 menstrual periods in a row
have amenorrhea,
• As do girls who haven't begun
menstruation by age 15.

5. Primary Amenorrhea
Failure of menses to occur by either:
• Age 16 or 2 years after onset of puberty.
• in the presence of normal growth and secondary sexual
characteristics.
If by,
• Age 13 menses has not occurred and the onset of puberty, such as
breast development, is absent then it is primary amenorrhea.

6. Secondary Amenorrhea
• Cessation of menses after they have begun.
Cause of secondary (ovulatory) Amenorrhea
• Natural causes: pregnancy
• Medications and therapies: Contraception
• Antidepressants, Chemotherapy
• Gynecological causes: PSOS
• Premature Ovarian Failure
