This document proposes a revenue model for linked open data platforms that addresses both cost and profit. It presents a typology of first order constructs for revenue models based on price, cost, third-party support, and profit. The constructs include low-cost/low-profit, freemium, two-sided business, and razor and blade models. The goal is to increase adoption of linked open data by defining economically sustainable revenue models, filling a gap in existing classifications.
