Company History
Founder Gordon Clements launched his business
in 1987 near Burlington Vermont. Cellular window
shades was the solution to his soaring electric bills.
He designed honeycomb shades to to keep homes
warm in winter and cool in summer, reducing electric
bills year round.
Cellular Window Shades had been in business for
almost 30 years and added new styles including
motorized, arch-fitted, skylight-fitted and cordless
models. They’ve also added a multitude of subtle
colors and finishes for a truly custom touch. However,
even with all the new additions, they still manufacture
everything at their Vermont-based facility.
Why PrestaShop
In the early 2000’s, it was clear that commerce was
making a definite move towards ecommerce. If you
wanted to expand your business, it was critical to
have an online presence. Cellular Window Shades
launched on a custom solution but soon found
themselves looking for a developer to create a more
powerful website that accommodated their vast
product selection.

has already seen tremendous
growth since migrating from

Easy-to-install modules makes it was possible to
automate the product creation process. However,
the decision to move to PrestaShop was cemented
with an easy integration to their current payment
processor, Paypal.
The PrestaShop Experience
Working with Marketing Media, an official PrestaShop
agency, they launched their website after 8 months of
custom development work. Despite the long set-up,
training the team on the order management features
was relatively easy.
Marketing media also worked on search engine
optimization of the custom products. The SEO
features included within PrestaShop help them rank
high against big names in the window treatment
industry on the niche products they sell.
