The concept of mobility takes various forms and develops alongside economic, societal, and technological changes that shall be clarified first before moving to disruptive business models. We will then build a common understanding of the term disruption and discover how disruptive business ideas may serve as an answer for current and future mobility needs of which there are some great examples (among others: SBB Swisspass). This will highlight the role of ICT as enabling factor for new mobility concepts. Not only by means of data exchange, but also by means of organizing mobility. These ICT possibilities are mobility facilitating technologies like smartphones, narrow band IOT, augmented reality, predictive maintenance, up to blockchain technology and smart contracts. Considering certain success factors, we will then look into ways to develop disruptive business models around mobility concepts by our own using elements of design thinking.
