 Show all work neatly?
 Use their notes given in class to

How to Study for a Math Test:
 Make sure you know the concepts needed to review
 Use problems from homework/notes, re-work
problems you missed; you should have correct
answers since they were discussed in class.
 Complete additional problems from each area of
study. Odd numbered solutions are in the back of
the book.

 The 7th Grade Language Arts Curriculum :
 focuses on academic and thematic essential questions & skills
 incorporates multiple modes of writing and literary genres
 integrates grammar, vocabulary, and word part instruction
 includes personal reading or student-led book clubs
 provides choice and differentiated instruction to students
 reinforces the importance of research skills in a variety of
settings
 examines the effective use of technology for learning and
communicating
 assesses student mastery of essential skills through carefully
designed performance tasks
Some of the essential questions we will be
focusing on within our units will be:
• Which is more valuable, the individual or the community?
• Is it always necessary to be accepted?
• What purpose do masks serve in society and literature?
• How do characters and people persevere through
adversity?
• What can we learn from the perseverance of literary
characters and historical figures to help us overcome our
own adversity in today’s world?
Each quarter will include the following:
 At least 20 thematic vocabulary words
 Seven Greek and Latin word parts
 Grammar instruction
 A variety of fiction and nonfiction reading
opportunities
 Journal writing
 Personal Reading
 Argument, narrative, and informative
writing opportunities
Assessments and Grading
• Language Arts is based on a total points
system.
• Daily work, group collaboration, reading
responses, written work, book club
participation, performance tasks, tests,
and quizzes make up a student’s grade
each quarter.

  • 13. Math Homework Checklist  Did the student:  Do EVERY assigned problem?  Use pencil?  Show all work neatly?  Use their notes given in class to complete homework?

How to Study for a Math Test:  Make sure you know the concepts needed to review  Use problems from homework/notes, re-work problems you missed; you should have correct answers since they were discussed in class.  Complete additional problems from each area of study. Each quarter will include the following:  At least 20 thematic vocabulary words  Seven Greek and Latin word parts  Grammar instruction  A variety of fiction and nonfiction reading opportunities  Journal writing  Personal Reading  Argument, narrative, and informative writing opportunities
  • 25. Assessments and Grading • Language Arts is based on a total points system. • Daily work, group collaboration, reading responses, written work, book club participation, performance tasks, tests, and quizzes make up a student’s grade each quarter.
